Wild Swimming aka Brit-talk for “swimming outdoors”, as in a lake. Think this term popped up during the pandemic…
I just went and verified…thought I’d first heard the term in a 2019 NYer article about a pond near London, yep:

Roger Deakin , a nature writer, wrote a beautiful book called Waterlog back in 1999. In it he travelled throughout the UK swimming in various “ wild” places from moats to ponds to the ocean. I think the wild swimming idea grew from this.
