Cold enough out to snow, which it’s supposed to do in an hour or so, definitely cold enough to compel me to wear a winter coat, so I figured I’d bundle up in I Profumi di Firenze Vaniglia del Madagascar, a warm, sweet, creamy patisserie vanilla. Fairly single-minded, but sometimes that’s what I need.

I woke up to a layer of snow on the ground. April fools day a day early. It’s the kind of snow that hangs on the branches, so at least it’s pretty. Slippery too! I might have started out a bit too fast this morning on the way to work.?
I’m in another day of Vacation scents. Today it’s Bluebird perfume oil from Olivine Atelier with notes of neroli, blood orange, lily and vanilla. The entire sample set had a beachy vibe to them and I’m down to the last one.
I got an email earlier this week that one of my favorite bands- The National- is touring and tickets go on sale today! Getting a pair for my college bestie and I. It’s not until September but it’s always fun to have something to look forward to as summer comes to an end and my daughter heads back to college. I’ve missed live music!?

Wearing Nicolai New York today. The temp dropped 40 degrees overnight and I just want to go back to bed but there’s too much to do. At least we have only seen a few snowflakes.
And it increased almost 40 degrees in the Northeast!
I went back to bed for the both of us. It was pouring rain. It felt like the right thing to do. Lol.

I’m in Orange Sanguine today, starting Discovery Set April a day early. I’m planning to try to use samples from each of my older discovery sets. First up was Atelier, which was the first discovery set I bought back in the day.

SOTD is Ouis Plus! by Kyse Perfumes. I think of it as a really good vanilla, though that is not listed in the notes. Very gourmand, as are almost all of the Kyse perfumes. I like it because although it is a sweet gourmand, there’s enough woodiness to balance that sweetness so that it doesn’t veer over into sticky sugar territory.
That one does sound like fun!

I’m in the fairly devisive Guerlain Iris Ganache today.
Confession:tested and bought back in the day days before it’s discontinuation was announced.NEVER WORN.Until today so yay for that!(I went back a week later and scored the last bottle at the local Guerlain counter,and that at 50% off!Memorable moment!)
In other words I have original Iris Ganache that will outlive me.
My first thoughts this morning when sprayed were “My word,I smell rich!I cannot pull this off!!”Lol.
But I did,and I felt glamorous and suave and rich in my swimshorts and flipflops.This is so good,I’m glad I splurged a bit back then.

I got the 2nd to the last bottle and Daisy (coolcookstyle) got the last bottle of Iris Ganache at Saks. It was not even on display and I had to ask the SA. This was back in 2012 / 2013 when I was still a little timid in perfume questioning technique.

I spritzed on Adam Levine today. Suits the snow that’s falling – should stop within the hour. My guess is this dusting will be gone by tomorrow.
A bit crazy yesterday. Smoke alarms woke us up on 6:30 am. No fire, of course. No carbon monoxide. Likely caused by moisture up in the attic area. We have a small leak somewhere that roofers can’t find. They’ll do some repairs next week. The good news is, with all the kerfuffle, I reminded the building contractor that they had promised to replace my closet shelves to a deeper board. He sent two guys today, so now we have better storage in our closets. Glass definitely more than half full.

Another short update on my stay in Sweden.
We (mom and I) are still kind of sick. Better during the day, worse at night. Mostly cough. But we are getting better.
Other than that, we are doing fine. We applied for the Temporary Protection on Tuesday and are now waiting for the authorities’ decision.
Tomorrow I will be picking up our thyroid pills (in Sweden you need a prescription for them). Also tomorrow I will get a laptop. And Swedish SIM cards.
Tomorrow I will also hopefuly book a visit to a vet for Kora. She is well, but we are legally required to register her in Sweden. Chipping, possibly a blood sample, a phone interview with Swedish authorities. Maybe a quarantine (which in this case normally means no contact with other animals, and she did not have any). She is a fully vaxxed indoor cat, so I hope they will go easy on her.
I also found some information on free courses of Swedish for Ukrainians. This will be the next task on my list.

Feeling a bit lackadaisical today. My sleep is all out of whack for some reason, so I’m lacking any kind of initiative or drive to get anything done.
We are at a small campground just outside of town and the coyotes were active last night. The weather is beautiful, so may take a short hike in a bit. Currently looking through available contracts in Washington. Will start mid-May, taking off a month in between.
Not feeling perfume at all right now, but did add a swipe of a BPAL oil this morning, The Arrival at the Sabbath and Homage to the Devil which is based on a painting by the same name. It’s a mouthful of a name, that’s for sure!

Well, that was disconcerting. I just googled “Lush Sunshine” ( yes, got the name wrong) and the first hit on my screen was for a brothel. I think I may have made a silent “eewww” noise as I recoiled. Not the start of the fun perfume project I was anticipating. Of course, being curious, I then wondered what the brothel looked like so I re-googled ( permanently closed, Sunshine Coast, Australia) and went “ ewww” again. All that and it’s not even 7am and now I don’t feel like wearing Lush “ Sun” at all. I think I’ve just ruined that perfume for me. Rabbit rabbit rabbit and my grandfather’s birthday ( dead). Oh, maybe it was an April Fools joke? Confusion rules and reaching for Chypre Mousse ( the prudish scent I own).

I’m wearing La Fille de Berlin this morning. Dapper the adolescent cat is in wrestling mood today and is tormenting the older cats. I’ve broken them up at least four times today. I think I may banish him to the bedroom for a little time out.
You smell wonderful! We also have a rowdy junior cat who tries to get something started with our Grandma cat. Her annoyed growls do turn into some “I’m the boss” ear grooming sometimes, but more often we do have to divert his attention.
Giving G&B Velvet Splendor another spin today, based on cazaubon’s praise for it. I like it, but it doesn’t excite me and I have similar frags that do (which is where I ended up with most of the G&B frags).

It’s from Clipper Ship Tea Company. It’s not as chocolaty as their chocolate pu’er (which is my favorite) but the blend of chocolate and spices is delicious.

The funeral was today for my family member. I was able to watch it from my bed. What a difference in life this man made.

Boo hiss my cable Internet went kaput. It actually happened yesterday. Thank God I still have DSL through Verizon as it had saved me a few times when cable was running slow. I called XFinity and despite what they tried, there was no connection but the modem/router is on. I finally decided to just buy another modem/router hoping that it would solve the problem. We’ll see – wish me luck.

Oh no on the internet woes! We had to get new fibre-optic cable installed this week. We were notified that they were doing systemwide upgrades and were discontinuing the “old” version, whatever that was. We also got a new modem. He said the one we had was “old” when he started working there. Never had any problems with it, thankfully.
Hope the new modem does the trick!
