The daily lemming

Posted by Robin on 11 February 2022 16 Comments

I'm pretty sure 2 or 3 of the large boxes would be a perfect Valentine's present: Rose and Violet Creams from Rococo in the UK. "Our Rose & Violet Creams Chocolate Box is filled with handmade rose and violet creams made with the finest organic essential oils. The fondant creams are wrapped in deliciously rich dark chocolate and topped with crystallised rose and violet petals." 12 fondant creams for £21.95; 20 fondant creams for £31.95, at Rococo Chocolates.

OMG, not what I should be reading when I am late to lunch. I am fascinated with floral scented/flavored candies. These sound yummy.

They make really good rose and violet chocolate bars too.

I looked on their website and I believe they no longer sell these particular boxes; they do however have a dark chocolate and violet bar, which, too bad it’s in the U.K. cause I would go right out and purchase one. ;)

That is weird because they were selling them the day before, that’s when I formatted the post!

I don’t care for floral flavors in food. But I’ll take those praline quail eggs or the cardamom pistachios please.

OMG, I visited one of their stores on my last visit to Jo Loves in London, and I bought a small sampler of their chocolates, which included Rose and Violet. They were divine!

Oh dear. Now I have to look for rose flavored fondant recipes on line and spend all week taste testing alternative recipes!

My Mum adored both rose & violet creams, & my Dad’s place of work was just off Piccadilly, a very short stroll from Fortnum & Mason – their confectionery department was (& probably still is) out of this world & every so often he would pop along to buy a box to bring home to her. I would be allowed one of each flavour, though for many years I was probably too young to appreciate their delicacy & deliciousness, a situation remedied as I grew up! This article brought back a very specific & fond memory of my late & still much missed parents, so thank you, Robin.

That sounds wonderful. I still need to try violet candy/ desserts at least once and violet cream sounds amazing.

Both rose & violet are very specific flavours – even after all these years I’m not sure if I find them delicious or just odd, but if someone gave me a box I wouldn’t not eat them!

Violet essential oil? (its stated on their website if you look at the ingredients). I’ve asked about violet derived ingredients in the past and 2 people from the industry have told me no such thing is being produced currently. Perhaps they meant violet leaf but I can’t imagine.
