It’s Almost-Friday and National Chocolate Cake Day, plus International Holocaust Remembrance Day. Birthdays: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Lewis Carroll, Jerome Kern, Bobby Blue Bland, Narciso Rodriguez and Alan Cumming. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Boy Chanel.
Reminder: 1/28 is Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette's birthday. Do whatever you like with the theme (wear a fragrance inspired by Colette or one of her characters? scent a character? scent Leslie Caron in the movie Gigi? Or wear Guerlain Jicky, which Colette is said to have worn.)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2022, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: top image is Keira Knightley as Colette in the biopic of the same name, 2018.
Lots of birthdays today, I should have worn one of my Narciso perfumes. Instead I’m in Chanel no 5 L’eau. Today is my Friday, woo hoo.? No big plans for the weekend but at least the temps have warmed up a bit.
Got home from work yesterday to find my youngest and oldest sitting at the dining room table playing a few rounds of chess. It was a nice thing to walk in on. There are 9 years between the two of them and they are finally getting to the ages where they have shared and common interests. It’s fun to see them bonding.☺️ She will likely never beat him, because he is good! But he’s teaching her some good strategies and challenging her to be better.
Happy Friday! It’s so nice to read about your children. There are seven years between my sister and I and we couldn’t be more different.
Happy (almost)Friday!
That is so sweet. I am very jealous. I am 8 years apart from my brother and we have never been on same page. He had a child after I had my two. I am a city mouse and he is a country lover. He someone that has sort of gone through life and thus far can’t get his act together. He is actually the older one..but young minded.
Sorry you and your brother aren’t close ltsg.☹️ One of my big hopes for my kids is that they will be good friends all through life. Someday I won’t be here, but they’ll have each other.☺️
“My Friday” twins!Whoop whoop!!???✌??
Hey twin! Lol. Your posts make me smile johanob, I can just feel the positivity.?✌️??
My older brother taught me chess and your post reminds me of all the times we played. I only ever beat him once, and I can still remember where we were playing ( seated on the top stair, the board on the landing) and my utter disbelief and embarrassment
Oh I love this Kanuka! Thanks for sharing. But why embarrassed?….because the win was so unexpected?
Mugler Day 5: A*Men Pure Coffee, which is the original, only all the ingredients have been turned down to mezza-voce and the coffee dialled way, *way* up. It’s heaven. I should wear it a lot more often.
The original packaging was over the top, too. It was designed to look like a bag of extremely ritzy coffee beans, all dressed in gold, and there was a spot at the front mimicking the degassing valve, behind which was a channel holding a porous silicone pad soaked in the fragrance, so you could smell the coffee as soon as you picked it up. I used that pad to scent a drawer for ages. I am a sucker for great presentation. (Later on they used a variant of the house packaging, for ease of storage and transport, no doubt — corporations do love brand uniformity — and it just wasn’t as good.)
Another good one.
up at 4:30 for meetings.
SOTD is box of eels and I do have on boy Chanel eye liner.
Boo to early meetings!
I’m going to assume you smell great, but I haven’t tried box of eels yet 🙂
Is it 2 or 3 days left in the countdown? Will you be taking time off while your sister is visiting?
she arrives on Sunday. Taking whole week off. YAY!
Yay!
That sounds wonderful! A whole week to enjoy her company.
I am up at 5:30 for work but 4:30 seems painful. At least you smelled wonderful.
Bleurgh. That is Oh-no-dark early.
Splurged on a chanel quad eyeshadow, so my eyes are looking extra fancy today.
I have been so into my book that I am forgetting to check out NST, sorry!
SOTD New York 5th Ave by Fragrance du Bois
Oud/Rose/Violet very classy today for a morning of snuggling up and reading.
Tea is Pleine Lune
Excited a got to MF tea refills brought back from Paris for me. I have been missing my French Breakfast.
Smelling wonderful as usual. Remind me what book you are reading?
I am reading To Paradise by Hanya Yanagihara
So far so good..but its a loooong book
Thanks!
Which eye quad did you get?
I recently purchased the Mediterraneen quad and I love it. The colours are everyday friendly but can also be amped up.
Did you try the new lipsticks that are in this collection?
I purchased this one, mystic eyes
https://www.chanel.com/us/makeup/p/164140/les-4-ombres-multi-effect-quadra-eyeshadow/
Oh my thats one pretty quad… wishlisted! Ha.
No I haven’t tried the lipsticks. I tried the liquid eyeshadow and blush though but they weren’t that special I felt.
After a shower, I’ll be wearing Coco Noir as I have been craving it. Just a classy elegant fragrance.
I am not feeling even as classy as my Boy Chanel today, so I salute you 😉
Well, if it’s Alan Cumming’s birthday, then there’s only one scent for today! I hope it suits the tone of today’s task, which will be a site visit with some difficult people in the service of a difficult suite of projects — the situation basically involves a veneer of polite, convivial professionalism laid over a hot mess of politics, resentment, ignorance, mansplainy arrogance, and clashing objectives. I may go with Arbolé since I’ll be there to speak for the trees, and then transition to Cumming later.
At least the morning will be spent in the woods, and the project site is close to the bakery with the Good Cinnamon Bread, so there’s that!
I would love to be in the woods and speaking for the trees! (But boo for the just-under-the-surface unpleasantness.) Instead I will be chained to a desk and speaking for process improvement and data integrity, and without cinnamon bread. 🙂
I love the way you describe the difficulties you’re facing—but am sorry you must deal with all that!
It’s all in a day’s work! Land conservation and restoration is all about standing in between the environment and the forces that would harm it, so the difficulties come with the territory.
You’ll smell perfect in Arbolé! And thanks for all you do for nature!
I really smell divine, if I do say so myself! 🙂 That no-more-full-bottles resolution isn’t going to last the winter…
It’s too bad Hiram Green no longer makes travel size sprays, it was a no-brainer purchase for me at that size. But I think a full size bottle would be amazing!
Good luck with all of the cruddiness you have to deal with today.
It wasn’t bad! The mansplainer was on his best behavior and the project being proposed was actually a reasonable one, so no real friction.
Your second sentence describes what seems to be the main modus operandi of the whole world lately. Focus on the trees and the cinnamon bread. 🙂
And, above all else, Little Biscuit’s joy tomorrow when he sees the cinnamon bread! It’s his favorite thing. Crazy expensive but it’s full of walnuts so it has good food value…
Thank you for speaking for the trees!
I’m glad at least the environment got a little breather when there were less movement during 2020/2021!
Our Summer rainfall pattern seemed much more normal since last year,I am pretty sure it’s got to be related.
Good for you for standing up for the trees.????
Glad that your day turned out much better than you anticipated!
I mean, they tend to. I think I psych myself out too much, at times. Or, maybe the psyching means that I’ve appropriately prepped, and therefore things go better than anticipated?
Narciso Rodriguez AND Alan Cumming…hmm. No SOTD yet, but sounds like I’ll probably start with White Cube and then move on to After Party this evening.
Completely swamped at work. When my old boss said he needed me back from my secondment because he was swimming in work with no support, he was NOT kidding. Now all that work is mine. 🙂
I thought about White Cube…might wear a bit tonight.
So sorry you are swamped! Hope it is not in a terrible way.
You smell great and the trees and I appreciate all your good (hard) work on their behalf 🙂
Oops – meant for Isabella!
I think I left a few happy trees in my wake today! 🙂
LOL! “Happy trees” made me immediately think of Bob Ross!
Inspired by Deva earlier in the week and my love for all scents amber, I’m in Ambra Aurea. Mine is also from a decant–and now I am thinking I probably have some generous person here to thank for it (the brain is sieve these days!). And now that I’ve learned I can buy a travel-size bottle of this one, AND where to buy it, I feel I can apply this beauty liberally. So, I am wafting.
Yay for wafting!
My weekend starts NOW!!Plus Payday so double-yay!!
SOTD!
Jardins D’Ècrivains Gigi, inspired by the Colette character of course! It’s a pretty white floral, lots of orange blossom and neroli in the opening, settling on a green-ish tuberose later on.I do not get the freshly cut grass note which the website list as an official top note, and that is a pity.Still,a pretty perfume.
The other two I have from the brand is Wilde and Orlando,of which Wilde is my favorite of the 3.
Happy Thursday!
XO’s
Happy Friday/payday to you!
Thank you T!Either/or,it was a good day!✌??
Big points for you, johanob!
Yessss!!
????
Hello!
Sotd is L’Ombre Dans L’Eau edp. It’s been a while since I last used it and I kind of forgot how good it is. Need to give it more love.
Currently on my second cup of decaf coffee, black.
Every time I wear L’Ombre Dans l’Eau, I’m struck by how great it is and how often I forget about it. It’s going front-and-center in my rotating, seasonal countertop collection this summer!
I know right? It just gets forgotten but for no good reason. It’s going front-and-center in my rotation too!
You smell great, happy888cat!
Alan Cumming! Well then I should be wearing Cumming or 2nd Cumming, but I’m not. Instead I am on-CP with Vilhelm x Colette, which is described as “coconut water, pomelo, fig, tobacco flower, leather, salted sandalwood”. Light, summery, out of step with the weather, but so what.
Hope everyone in the northeast US stays warm and comfy this weekend! Sounds like it’ll be a fine weekend for curling up indoors.
Curling up indoors summarizes my weekend plan 🙂
I may have been a touch heavy-handed with 2 sprays of PHI Une Rose de Kandahar today…oh well, my cloud smells great.
Still waiting for my niece to arrive, and my sister is getting impatient with the slow labor. Thanks for all the well wishes yesterday!
Aww, your niece is taking her time! Wishing your sister a safe delivery today!
Kandahar is lovely.
I suppose induced and C-section are 2 totally different things! I hope your niece shows up soon.
How apropos – you are in a beautifully smelling cloud while you wait for your beautiful niece to arrive.
Can I join your cloud??
Sure! Plenty of room in this cloud.
Spending the morning in dabs of LVDP Hindu Kush and seriously contemplating the 15 ml bottle of it. I’ve been trying hajusuuri’s suggestion of adding things to my Luckyscent cart and removing them, to see if they would send me a coupon or something, and it wasn’t working … but have only just recently realized that it would probably help if I were signed in there so they can tell who I am! Derp. Meanwhile, the howling winds that other NSTers have been enduring made their way here last night — so loud and gusty! Mr. G and I both had very bizarre dreams.
Does Luckyscent send coupons? I always thought they were one of the shops where the price is the price is the price. No coupons, no sale days, etc. Someone pls tell me I am wrong!
They do have “coupons” on the very rare occasion, such as what SheriG described. I got lucky with getting NVC Mohur Extrait with a buy it now at 20% off. Someone here mentioned getting a code but it was not shared (probably one time use only).
Good to know! Thanks
I’ve never seen them have a sale “day”, but they do occasionally have a few items on sale. And so far I’ve never seen an email from them … but, as I said, it’s probably because I am very seldom signed in to my LS account when browsing there. I’s a idjit. ?
Oh boy I’d eat a slice of chocolate cake right now!
I’m in Mimosa & Cardamom from Jo Malone today.
You smell really good today lucasi!
You are going to have some enabler pins coming your way. Your praise of Dusita (or at least, I think it was your praise) created my lemming for her discovery set, which I picked up recently. I’m half way through and am loving them all so far.
I’m wearing HdP 1873, Colette, citrus, violet, florals. It’s a beautiful scent but I prefer it in hot weather. I’m busy with tests and preparations for my knee replacement surgery next week. At least now I’ve got a good cat-sitter lined up. I’m going to be staying at a friend’s house for a week because my own house just has too many stairs.
You do smell great Calypso! And sending extra good wishes…hope the surgery goes smoothly.
I hope it all goes well Calypso!
Keep us posted when you can!
XO’s?????
I’m in Tauer’s ACDD from my mini-bottle. A FB is in my future, I’m sure! Lovely sunshine and cool temps here, but I hope elsewhere people are keeping safe from Old Man Winter.
We had a lovely hike up a huge historic hill here in town and no one was more surprised than me that I actually made it to the top! 2.5 miles up, then 2.5 miles down via many switchbacks.
We went early in the chill of morning and only saw a few other hikers. T-Rex was able to do her zoomies off lead and learned quickly not to go off trail into the brush. There be Dragons, in the form of sand spurs. After the second time having to wade through it to get to her, pluck out the offending spur from the paw she held aloft for me, she decided no critters were worth that nonsense. This “Hill” was an old volcano the erupted approximately 14,000 years ago. We started in the valley and hiked up the side if the collapsed caldera to the top and enjoyed 360* views! Saw a humming bird “in the wild” by which I mean not a man made feeder.
Some great history at the top, with an excellent old times communication device at the top which was used in the mid to late 1800’s.
Today is chore day. ?
T-Rex is such a quick learner! I hope she’s eating better soon!
She’s smarter than her human for sure. She did scarf down her brekkie today, so that made me very happy. ?
Glad to hear her appetite is back.
What a wonderful walk. So glad T Rex is eating again.
It was wonderful that I got to the top without having an MI! ?
Smelling all kinds of wonderful today!
Love Alan Cumming, and loved the first iteration of his fragrance. I don’t believe I’ve tried the second. I’ve considered a bottle, but as much as I appreciate the fragrance, I don’t think I would ever use it up. Still, it’s a good one. Also, have original Narciso Rodriguez, but not with me, so can’t do that one today.
Scent today: OJ Frangipani. Really lovely.
other: Deeply and seriously contemplating tacos for lunch.
Have a great day!
It was really a great fragrance. So is OJ Frangipani, of course 🙂
Memoire Woman today, maybe i should just have used two sprays, because its going strong for more than 12 hours….
You smell great! It is very potent.
We had the same idea, Robin. I’m also in Boy.
Everything’s coming up lavender for me today: perfume, Method French Lavender Hand Soap, and a lavender t-shirt (unplanned theming).
I am late as always, but hey twin!! You did more matching than I did, but I did have some earl grey with a pinch of lavender this afternoon.
Robin, today’s image just screams Boy to me! I thought it even before I scrolled down to see that that’s your SOTD. I’m going to follow along and wear Boy on one arm and Edimbourg on the other since I’ve been wanting to test it more. I’ll be mixing Chanel lovers today!
To those with sleep woes or aren’t great sleepers like me, I’ve recently tried sleeping with my phone far away from me so I don’t reach for it in the middle of the night when I wake up and can’t fall back asleep. It has worked well for that, BUT I find myself wondering about the time a lot. I guess I should hunt for a little clock or watch that doesn’t tick and doesn’t have very bright light. Do you find it’s better to know the time (say, I’ve only got 20 minutes before it’s time to wake up) or better to try to fall back asleep no matter what? I supposed that when it’s gets lighter out, I’ll have other cues that might help me.
I find when winter sets in and its so dry in our home that I don’t sleep well. I wake up with a very dry mouth and cough. I use to leave a pot full of water on my heater but we bought a humidifier last year and it has helped a lot!
That’s such a good tip! I do notice that in the winter I sometimes wake up with a slight sore throat that goes away during the day, it’s probably the low humidity.
For me, I have the phone next to me but I don’t reach for it probably because when I sleep, I sleep. If I just happen to wake up in the middle of the night, I do glance at the time but don’t fret over how much time I have before I need to get up.
I think you’re a much better sleeper than I! ?
I find that checking the time makes me anxious when I can’t fall asleep or wake up in the middle of the night; I’ll think about how much sleep I am missing and it stresses me out. So I have no bedside clock, and I’m strict about not touching my phone until my alarm goes off. If I wake up before the alarm, I try to fall back asleep and if I really can’t, I’ll meditate (or try to – it is hard when my brain jumps into ACTIVE mode).
I will have to remember to try meditating, that’s a great suggestion! Lately I’ve been focusing on my breathing when I try to get back to sleep, and it seems to help.
I have a bedroom clock but don’t use any electronic devices in the bedroom after 8pm and definitely not in the middle of the night, out of fear that the blue light would definitively wake me up. The clock helps me to know if there is time to take a sleep aid to finish off the night or not.
Yes, reading about how terrible the blue light is is what motivated to ban my phone from the bedroom!
I also have my phone next to me when I sleep but am quite good at not touching it unless I wake up in the middle of the night and too awake to even try sleeping again.
Here is something I read about whether we should go back to bed or not. I am surprised that sometimes less hours can mean our bodies are already “satisfied”. https://www.businessinsider.com/should-i-go-back-to-sleep-if-i-wake-up-before-my-alarm-2016-1?amp
Thanks for the article! Very good and sensible advice, since I feel like we’re usually pushed to think that more is better.
This may be of interest to you. It’s related to Vit D and sunlight, specifically related to C-19, but it has a lot of good information regarding sunlight and melatonin production as well as overall immunity. It’s a reliable science source, with no opinions or politics. Just facts and science.
https://youtu.be/2Zzo4SJopcY
Thanks for the video, Deva, you always find such good ones! I have been hearing a lot lately about how sunlight exposure in the morning is so essential for regulating sleep and many other things. I must make it more of a priority, especially on work from home days.
My phone is my alarm, but also I have to be reachable 24/7 except when I am officially on leave, which means the little gadget is always at my bedside. But why people have to send emails at 3am still baffles me every time I’m woken up by an alert.I could probably do some settings for after hours but I’m too lazy lol.
Yep, I have to put mine on silent mode when I sleep so I don’t get pointless alerts. Everything is silent except the alarm- no calls, no texts, no emails, no anything except the alarm, which is just the way I want it! ??
It is better not to know! I have a tick-free travel Braun for the days I need an alarm, but am in agreement to keep the phone of of the bedroom.
Yes, after my week-long experiment, I do think it’s better not to know than to over-check as I used to!
I have an alarm clock in my bedroom. It has glowing green numbers on it, which aren’t as disturbing as the bright blue ones I’ve seen on some digital alarm clocks.
My cell phone, however, spends the night downstairs and nowhere near me.
Yes, I’m on a quest now to find a clock with very faint lights!
Interesting discussion! I leave my phone downstairs, and have an old school analog battery alarm clock…if you press a little button on the top, it lights up so you can see the time. So it requires work and I don’t have to see the time if I don’t want to 🙂
In Jul et Mad Amour de Palazzo today. I think just about any fragrance with the word “amour” in it’s name smells great to me – whether fruity or floral or oriental they all share one factor: very special undeniable sweetness. In other words anything with specifically the word amour in it makes me want to smell it right away ?
Oh how interesting!
SOTD = Tom Ford Bitter Peach
I have the travel spray and I like the packaging way more than the perfume itself!
https://www.instagram.com/p/CZPfd5HO138/?utm_medium=copy_link
Just to keep track of the cleaning, I had 3 extra trash bags and a bag of unwanted paper shopping bags. There’s still plenty more of everything to go through but I am keeping with the slow and steady wins the race formula, even if the winning is a long ways away.
We’re supposed to get weather starting mid-day tomorrow. This means that I will do my grocery shopping after work so I don’t have to be with the elements. Part of me wants to just shop my refrigerator and basement but I do like my fresh veggies.
Hi,
Kinda off topic. I LOVE Bitter Peach and have a travel size.
I’m asking for suggestions for the BG sale, minus the Iris Poudre, which got taken out of my basket.?
You know my tastes, but I’ll check later. I’m up for spending today.
I would get any of the TF travel sprays and The Harmonist Royal Earth (it’s so good!).
Did I just miss a sale at Bergdorf’s?
Ooooooooh, that *is* a nice looking travel spray.
It is indeed very elegant. Not many travel sprays come with a magnetic cap so this one got extra credit.
The SA at Sephora the other day told me that Bitter Peach smells like JM Nectarine and honey blossom. Do you think this is true?
Also stay safe tomorrow! I always try to do a grocery run when facing bad weather in case it will be a few days before I can go again.
I say this with caution since it’s been many years since I’ve tried the JM and I’ve also only tried Bitter Peach once, I don’t think they smell alike at all. Bitter Peach has a lot more oomph, and something liquor-rish about it, not to mention the patchouli!
It’s been a while since I wore the JM. That said, I just feel like both are peach adjacent rather juicy peach or nectarine for the JM. I think a lack of body is what I am trying to describe.
I have an idea for a CP!! Wear a fragrance that You bought/attracted You because of it’s name!!
This is interesting! And also I have bought perfume for the bottle alone…including my scent of the day today. I really love the look of the bottle and the juice isn’t that bad either!
That’s like me sometimes buying a wine just because I like the label! I did that with a New Zealand wine the other day just because it had a beautiful painting of a NZ landscape with mountains, blue water, and green fields full of sheep. Label was nicer than the wine, sadly!
Wonderful idea!????
Thanks:)
Can’t think if we’ve done that or not, but will check!
Wearing no 5 Sensual Elixir today. Should have bought a 2nd bottle while I had a chance.
It’s a great version,right?
It is, I have no idea on why it was discontinued. Maybe too expensive to make.
Might be yes!But I love the feel of it,the scent is perfect, love the bottle, and it was suggested to me by so many people that I had to hunt it down.Glad I did.
Wearing Dusita Erawan today. Hay perfumes usually don’t work for me, but oh wow, this one does. I get hay and vanilla. It is like fresh air that has been sweetened. In my mind, “fresh” usually involves green notes, which can be bitter, or minty notes, which can be sharp. This is neither, it is soft and rounded, but still feels like standing outside and breathing in deeply.
Tea today is Clippership Cinnamon Roll. I’m taking a critical eye (tongue?) to my flavored black teas to decide if I can cut any from the rotation. Cinnamon Roll may not make the cut; it is similar to a chai but just not as interesting.
That sounds wonderful. I love hay perfumes…yesterday the farmer on the hill opposite was making it ( hay, not perfume).
I put on Erawan this morning and it is very nice. Initially I got green, and then it settled quickly into what I interpret as woody vanilla. I don’t think I know what hay smells like.
Have you ever tried St. Clair Scents Fresh Cut? You might like it.
Sounds like you’ve enjoying trying out those Dusita perfumes very much!
Thought about a chocolate fragrance for today, but ended up going for marshmallow – Guimauve de Noël. I will definitely indulge in some chocolate cake later though.
I need a gluttonous slice of chocolate cake asap myself!
Lovely calm morning and the leaves on the maple are turning yellow. I have physio this morning. I had to fill out a form stating my goals and, as usual, I made a mess of it as I wrote and crossed things out. I would like to be able to tie my shoelaces. Also put “change a tyre” which kind of surprised me…I guess it represents a form of independence and strength that I no longer have. Then, “ climb steep mountains again” which must be a yearning for youth. Finally, “ walk the dogs on the hill without being pulled over when they spot a rabbit” which, really, is my real goal. After I can tie my shoelaces! Wearing Fille en Berlin.
Oh fabulous!Fille is one of those I got a bub of a bub of a bub…glad I did since the Lutens line has been discontinued by the one or two stockists over here.
I hear you about those objectives. I used to change my own tires–but that was a long time ago if I am honest. I recently wrote an advance directive and had to specify my end of life priorities and what would define my life as meaningful. It got pretty random– clean 100% cotton sheets, a window with a view, a sense of humor . . .
In my universe as mum with a child with disabilities, one of the skills I downgraded in importance for my son was tying shoes. Navigating rabbits with a dog seems way more important, interesting and fun, than making a bow out of laces (hello Lock Laces!).
I got a lilac/lavendar toner in my hair when I had it bleached on Saturday, so I’m trying to wear things that match. I’ve run out of clothes in that sort of colour, so I’m moving to matching perfumes. Today will be Serge Lutens Gris Clair.
I’m sure hair stylists talk about lighteners rather than bleach now, but I think bleach is a better word for what is quite a vicious process 🙂
Oh, that sounds fun! Are you happy with it?
Sotd is Iris Silver Mist. It’s definitely a top 5 favorite for me (have we done a “Top 5” (or however many) as a CP? I’m guessing we have and I just don’t remember it.
Oh wow, you smell amazing! It’s also in my top scents. I think it will be the scent I spray myself with when I get home!
I think of you as one of my “root-loving” perfume friends and am grateful every time I use my carrot-infused jojoba oil 🙂
DEFO n top 5 in ALL my categories!(fav iris,fav perfume,desert island,bury me with a bottle like Warhol with Beautiful…)
Warhol was buried with a bottle of perfume?
The legend goes that he indeed was buried with a bottle of Beautiful…
I think we’ve done that as a weekend poll, maybe not a cp? Have to check.
I’m freezing (I have been cold this whole winter and I don’t know why) so I’m wearing Narciso, the white cube one. It always warms me up.
Every Winter feels colder to me each year lately!
Dreading the coming season change…
We’ve been extra cold this winter too, and I’ve been attributing it to reduced food intake. We both sleep so much better if we eat a very minimal dinner rather early (so by morning we’re pretty empty), and we both could stand to lose a pound or five, so we generally have a bit less fuel in our systems to generate warmth.
Sampling Sun Warmed Honey from Solstice Scents which is very realistic and feels kind of cozy since it’s snowing out.
Sun warmed honey does sound perfect given our weather!
I am unscented at the moment. We had a power outage last night that seems to have fried the modem or other inner workings of our condo. Have been trying to explain this to the clubhouse folks all day to no avail. They will send someone from the cable company but we don’t know when. Currently at the poolside for wifi.
It’s cloudy and windy with a weather storm heading our way. My only entertainment may be overspraying my scents I have with me. Send help??
I hope you have power back by now!
Technology. It can be a pain in the butt when it works, and is definitely a pain in the butt when it doesn’t!
I hope you got it back. I ended up getting cable on top of my DSL. Would you believe my DSL continued working even though my landline phone line was on the fritz (usually happens when there’s precipitation) AND it works better than my cable.
Two very unique things have happened within thr past 24 hours.
My vet is double booked today and tomorrow because of the snow. I think today’s the day for my girl to pass or it is really moments around the corner. I’m trying to find anyone that will come to help her. She has the last symptom prior to death.
?
No perfume, but I will spend every penny on her and perfume today.
I’m so sorry. Prayers that you find someone to come and help you.
Sending hugs and strength to you for this difficult situation!
???
I am so sorry. When my Nima was at the end, I couldn’t move him, he was 114 lbs. I called a mobile euthanasia service and they were so very kind.
Oh no!! I am putting so many prayers in right now that You find someone quick!!
Such a tough time for you and I hope you get the help you need.
Awwwwwwwww. So sorry to hear this AnniePerfumes. Hoping that someone can help your sweet girl go over the Rainbow Bridge.
Hugs.
Oh no! It”s bad enough to be trying to cope with this sad time, without having the extra burden and anxiety of snow closures and related problems. I’m sending warm thoughts and sympathy your way.
Holding you and your sweet girl in my heart.
So sorry for you and your kitty. Sending hugs.
I pray for a good outcome in your search for a euthanasia service.
Oh dear, hope something worked out for you!
Seeing this a day late but sending enormous virtual bear hug. May the passing be easy and you be comforted with sweet memories!?
Oh no, I’m so sorry.?
Vibes for you and your sweet doggie, may it be peaceful.
Trying YR Autour de Minuit…a nice fruitchouli I bought blind.
I am wondering if my goal for 2022 should be that I sell/rehome one bottle for each new bottle acquired? I have bought 2 FBs this year so far and just sold 1 bottle on evilBay which means I am currently at +1 if my math is sound. 😉
So if I buy 20 bottles this year I should sell/rehome 20 bottles to stay at zero net carbon emissions or the like. Last year, I sold 19 bottles but I purchased more FBs than that.?Then maybe I can carry over extra bottles for 2023 if I go negative and sell more than I buy this year…so many ways to mentally spin this!!!!?
Interesting as Perfume Concept! I try to do a similar one-in-one-out with my clothes, although I seem to have a preponderance of coats at the moment…
I have a very hard time getting rid of coats and blankets. I am sure this stems from my fear of becoming homeless and freezing to death. I did donate 2 this winter though.
My brain hurts thinking about this. I would rather donate my unwanted perfumes but I have an extremely difficult time letting go!
Wearing Thierry Mugler’s Dis-Moi, Miroir as part of my weeklong salute to M Mugler! This one was a limited edition and is lovely.
Also hanging out with Thierry, in Supra Floral.
Somewhat off topic,or not?A wonderful article about Andy Warhol’s own perfume obsession, from keeping track of his SOTD in his diary to the perfumes that are amongst his personal belongings in the Warhol museum.LoveLove!!

I hope its OK to post the link!
✌??
Thanks Johano! Similarly, I keep perfumes I no longer wear if they have a good association. If it’s a bad association though, I have to get it out of my house! I have alot that don’t really mean much either way too.
Thanks for posting it. It was a great read. Who knew? I have been to the Warhol Museum but there seems to be several of them in the U.S. ??♀️
No only ok but welcomed 🙂
Thanks!
Early today for a change! It’s been a busy one here.
We had another contractor come thru the house this morning for an estimate re: drywall repairs. There’s a ton of nail pops due to settling, plus a couple of repairs that need to be done. Three guys have been by so far. Then I took out the recyclables and went grocery shopping to stock up before the promised (threatened?) winter storm blows in tomorrow night. Of course, I forgot something. But it wasn’t on the grocery list. And since it isn’t something critical, it can wait for a couple of days.
SOTD = returning to Safran Troublant. It wafted nicely during the errand running portion of my day.
I hope you didn’t forget the hot chocolate!
?
I went and got chili fixings since I already had hot chocolate, mini marshmallows, and rum at home! ???
Good luck with repairs.
It’s a bunch of little things, so I don’t think it’s going to be overly complicated. (Famous last words, right?)
I’m absolutely amazed that all three contractors showed up. We had a major plumbing issue and waited 8 months. He finally came last weekend .
You smell mmmgood! I’m generally not comfortable with contractors traipsing through the house but one must do what one must do!
I hope drywall repair costs less than tree services (just paid that bill today and still in shock) 😉
Skin feeling dry + desire for a comfort scent = Tauer Wowilla oil. Vanilla but not too foody. I didn’t layer it with anything – that would have required more thought!
Wowilla is one of the vanillas that works for me, but like Tauer’s other oils I have to cut it about 5:1 with a carrier oil because it’s so strong!
Great idea!
Testing Bois Impérial from Essential Parfums today.
It seems like an interesting woody fragrance. The opening didn’t impress me, but after it settled down a bit vetiver became more prominent on my skin and sparked my interest…
We’ll see how it dries down.
Vetiver is always good 🙂
My sotd is nothing! Lol. I left the house with intentions of spraying from the purse stash later. I never got around to it.
Stay safe to everyone getting crap weather! I am not in the area, but will be getting payback next week. ☃️❄?
Perfume nekkid!
Lol!
I keep emergency perfume samples everywhere, just in case I’m ever caught nekkid out in public!
Oy! I think out snow is supposed to be dry powdery which is strange considering the moisture is supposed to be coming off of the Atlantic. Oh well, I better read up more!
It’s so late that I doubt people are still reading.
I am wearing PHI Une Rose de Kandahar by Tauer. Andy’s scents really work for me on super-cold days. His base really stands up to cold temperatures. It was lovely all day long using only two sprays. Magical stuff.
Still reading! I had to refresh my browser cache in order to see your post, though. Sometimes it gets stuck…
Mine does that as well.
You smell glorious, and also, why have I been neglecting my PHI?? I’d wear it tomorrow if I didn’t have other, Colette-ish plans…
I’m still reading and you smell fabulous!
Still reading too!
PHI is wonderfully cocooning!
I totally agree about PHI. I wore it this afternoon and it carried me through the rest of the day.
Still reading!! Busy day and barely managed to read the comments til now.
That happens to me once on a while as well. The best of intentions but somehow never manage to spray.
They are predicting 6-12 in my area but we’ll see.
This was for lillyjo…
Oh dang! Fingers crossed for 6!
It isn’t supposed to hit my area until late Friday or saturday morning. ?
