Finishing my shift in DSH Chinchilla for the win!
Examples of the crazy wonderful world we live in below:
Crazy: the daughter of a patient brought a loaded heroin syringe for her mother. The patient (mother) started yelling at the daughter because she was upset about her daughter’s lack of stealth. ?
Wonderful: waiting in the (long) pharmacy line at Walmart to pick up T-Rex’s thyroid medication when a woman and her son of about 9 walk by. They approach the lady in line behind me with a baby in the cart, hand her a handful of cash and say, “Merry Christmas” and casually strolls away. ?
Lol at the crazy! Way back in the day when hospitals were going non smoking, my mother had me stand guard so she could sneak a cigarette. In defense of the daughter, mom’s can be really hard to say no to. ( except my kids, they have no down pat!)
Yay for the wonderful!
Ha! I remember when there was “no smoking on hospital property” signs all over and my compatriot ER nurse and myself used to sneak out to smoke in a spot between the ER and the parking garage wall. No cameras there! We had front row seats when one night as we were chatting and inhaling, a car zooms up the ER ramp, dumps out a body, and zooms away down the ramp. Gunshot wound, Zoom Zoom! Never a dull moment…
lillyjo, I hope one day we can have coffee together. I couldn’t agree more with your comment. My thought exactly. (But I am not arguing with Deva calling it crazy!).
I would love to have coffee with you ?
Addiction is a powerful and terrible thing. I’m reading this and smacking my head…
Love the wonderful part!
I love the wonderful part, too! ?
I hope the patient and daughter are getting the help that they need. Maybe the daughter wanted to get caught to get help because it sounds like a cry for help.
Well, the patient decided to leave AMA, but was only able to make it about halfway down the hall because she couldn’t breathe. I imagine her sats we’re way deep in the basement. So she changed her mind and decided stay. ??♀️
I can’t imagine what it must be like to feel that skipping breathing for a fix of opiates is a reasonable choice. Hopefully she survives and get the help she needs.
Yes, I hope so too.
I suppose the hospital will offer detox?
Yes and no. Only short term as it pertains to her medical issues. Once medically stable, and discharged, she has the option of entering into rehab. Social services will arrange that if she’s willing. That’s the biggest hurdle. The second is payment. Unlikely she has any insurance coverage. Most addicts end up leaving AMA from the medical facility as soon as they are physically able to, unless they’ve been put on an involuntary 72 hour psychiatric hold while an inpatient. And that rarely happens in these instances.
Chinchilla! You smell fabulous. I can only shake my head at the heartbreaking crazy part of the story. Addiction runs in my family although it presents itself differently in different people, it’s so hard to break through to healing. I hope mother and daughter make it.
Me too! The worst part is knowing there’s really nothing you can do to help that person except be there when they are ready to make a change.
This is crazy, we sometimes have drug addicts on German hospitals, but this is unheard of…
Not uncommon here. It has become very accepted, especially in certain states. I find it frustrating, not on any kind of moral level, but because addicts are so time consuming when admitted. Many are very emotionally labile, manipulative, dramatic, and often violent when they don’t get what they want. Many have underlying psychiatric pathologies that make a bad situation worse. They need near constant surveillance. You have to screen/limit visitors because they bring in drugs, alcohol, and often times have weapons. And because of that, other patients don’t get the care they deserve and need. So the other patient you have, say an 85 year old with pneumonia who is hanging on by a thread, gets neglected.
Oh, and meant to say, I hope you’re able to find that Essence palette. I used it for the first time yesterday and it’s ahMAYZING!
Wow, amazing incidents. Thanks, Deva!
I want to thank the Walmart lady. I was stunned speechless when it happened. I’d like have a conversation with her to find out how and why she decided to randomly give money to strangers without thought of getting anything in return, including public accolades.
It’s a rare and beautiful thing for sure.
Holy. Crap. You really ought to write a book about your experiences.
2nd that!
It is true that I once had my spouse sneak in a stout for me to drink at 4 a.m. on the maternity ward…but that was less that I wanted a drink and more that I’d heard they used to have women drink stout to get their milk started and I was desperate because my milk hadn’t yet come in.
I love the woman at Walmart. What a lovely gesture.
That’s enterprising and a good prep for being a mom 🙂
It’s also because the nurses on the ward were awful — well the night nurse was horrible. She’d yell at me for not getting my kid to latch on properly, when she showed up, an hour into trying to feed, and then tell me to call her immediately when I was trying to feed again. And then I’d call her, and she wouldn’t turn up for 90 minutes. I get it now, because I had a c-section I was on a ward with all the complicated cases and a c-section was the least complicated. But, I had issues with lactation. I did what I could. The stout didn’t help with the milk, but I felt better?
Oh wow, that’s a shame!
Happened to notice Hermès Rocabar all wrapped up in its cozy little blanket and thought, “Hey, I’d like to be that cozy, too!” And so I am. It’s amazing: a complete forestful of woods and resins sprinkled with spices, and then at the very very end, warm snuggly vanilla. It smells like a lumberjack who secretly bakes pfeffernüsse when the weekend rolls around.
love this!
What a great description!
Caron Parfum Sacre and a cup of green tea
One of my favorite perfumes, you smell wonderful.
Its one of my favorites also. I should wear it more !
You smell great ?
Thanks !
A friend wore this I nteh 90ies, find memories
I love when I smell a fragrance, and it reminds me of someone or good memories.
Ooh, you’ve given me an idea of what to wear today (I’m so slow, I’m still pre-shower here.). Thanks!
You are so welcome 🙂 We are twins today!
That’s a Christmas rose perfume if ever there was one!
So true ! That is a lovely vision – A Christmas Rose 🙂
Wearing Bulgari Black, and it’s not even raining. Turns out, this smells good in cold sunshine too.
Bulgari Black is just great in general. You smell fab today!
You smell terrific! Love Bulgari Black, in any weather.
Thanks, both!
Good morning.
Sotd is Libre Intense. I am getting close to finishing the bottle and I hope I can drain it before the end of year (so I can, cough, buy more perfume, cough).
Currently drinking chai with extra ginger.
I say get it now so you can call it a BUB!
I’m wearing Stash SJP for the first time in years. I think I tried it when I first bought it as a large manufacturer’s sample, and wasn’t that interested. But my tastes have changed, and now I think I’ll buy one of the small rollerballs, and see if I continue to enjoy it.
I really like Stash and haven’t worn it since last winter, you’ve reminded me to get it out and wear it.
I don’t wear it often either, OR Covet. I should wear both of them soon.
Wearing an unhealthy dose of Une Rose Chypree today. While looking for something else, I found my bottle of no 5 Sensual Elixer. I was wondering what happened to it.
You smell great – love enthusiastic doses of Une Rose Chypree!
What is unhealthy?
😉
Wearing Jubilation 25 and am about to have a cup of miso soup to warm up, as it finally feels like real winter temps here.
My sisters kitty is named Miso, we call him Miso soup.
You smell fabulous, and miso soup sounds perfect.
Bdk Rouge Smoking on this dark rainy day.
Hope the Rouge Smoking kept you cheerful despite the rain!
Commando at the moment, due to random nasal issues – I think I missed a dose of my antihistamines a couple days ago, and am still suffering the consequences of that. I might try a test run of Colorado this afternoon, if my tender membranes are less annoyed by everything after a nice cup of tea. Good black tea seems to help some of my allergy symptoms.
Interesting comment about black tea helping your allergy symptoms!
Wearing Bond No.9 New Haarlem.
I decided to take the day off from work to decompress. I am getting my few holiday cards and the last of my packages ready to be mailed no later than tomorrow. I have not gotten a single present for my family yet. At this point, the best option is to give them gift cards with a little extra, like sweets.
My bath products are in rotation again for the holidays. Currently in my shower: Yves Rocher Melting Orange shower gel, Philip B. Chocolate Milk body wash, BBW Twisted Peppermint and BBW Vanilla Bean Noel.
Nice, sunny day outside in the low 50’s. Having my second cup of coffee with egg nog creamer and a dash of cinnamon. Burning a Trader Joe’s Cedar Balsam candle. I am trying my best to have a warm, comfy, and peaceful day.
Happy Tuesday, everyone! ?
I haven’t gotten family gifts either. What is my problem? I just can’t get going on it. (And BTW, I love eggnog in coffee. I even did it growing up–way before it was hip.)
My problem is that I don’t have any energy left to get into the process of figuring out what I should get. My family usually gives hints, but this year, everybody is quiet ?♀️.
I love eggnog and I am trying to limit my consumption this year. I usually drink more than I should, especially on Christmas Day when I add a bit of alcohol to it! ?
I’m getting together with extended family this Sunday. I had a dream where I brought enough Laderach chocolate to hand out one per person except for the kids who will get a cash gift. Of course in my dream, I worried about whether or not a couple gets one or do I truly give one per person. In reality, you’ll know what I did, even if it was all a dream… ?
That’s what I actually have in mind. Except for my mother and my twin nieces, whose presents I bought a couple of months ago, everyone else will get gift cards and chocolates. That purchase will be done in just few minutes, and I don’t have to go crazy with the wrapping.
Yay for taking a day off and decompression!
?
You are smelling wonderful today and I enjoy your list of seasonal shower products.
Thank you, Ringthing! ?
I used Twisted Peppermint today. I only have the shower gel. I don’t think I could wear Peppermint as a lotion.
I also have the body lotion, but I just apply a small amount on my arms. I cannot wear the mist. It would too be overwhelming!
Yay for a Mental Health Day!
It was good, and I finished all my planned tasks!
Even better!
So glad you got a day off and got everything done. Do it again!
Thank you, Robin! Looking forward to doing it more often!
Working up to my best buy with another 2021 buy: Chanel Paris-Edimbourg. This was a successful blind buy that many of you helped me to choose, so thanks! This is the first I’ve tried it in cold weather, and it works.
I have to thank the woman who sold me Tam Dao at Nordstrom’s because she gave me two samples of the Chanel and before I was halfway through the first I knew I needed a full bottle. Which is to say you smell great!
Thanks! And Tam Dao is fantastic, too, so what a score.
Twisted Lily advent calendar prize this AM was Jade888. Was a hard pass at first sniff. I’ll test it again later to try to unpack it more. But first impression was a green perfume with that pond note that I never can get my head around. I detected it in Ostara as well–one of the rare Duchaufours that did not work for me at all.
Instead, wearing Fenty!
Thoughts on Fenty? (sorry if you’ve discussed before–if you have, I missed it.)
Well, I bought it blind. And blind buys for me take a while to sink in, so determined am I to like them. And this blind buy arrived in my mailbox yesterday. So, with that disclosure . . . I like it. Fenty goes on very fruity on me, and a little syrupy. Then pretty quickly morphs into a rose scent similar to Lyric–not super amped and tempered, again, by fruit and spice. So far, the dry down has been very nice. Florals and musk, without any laundry. I really like the bottle, for what that is worth.
Sounds quite lovely, thanks.
Did you detect any ambroxan?
Hmmmm… So. I am not sure I could point to ambroxan in a line-up. I’ve tried the Escentric Molecules ambroxan perfumes, and could barely smell them. So, I’m not sure. Happy to send you a decant if you like. You can ping me at ann dottie eisenberg attagirl comcast dottie net
Test-driving Nuit de Bakelite today — definitely getting a strong dose of hot resin/plastic out of it. Interesting stuff, but feels much too urban to suit me.
Also, enjoying the drydown rather more but still not me.
On my other arm: testing Aftelier Parfum Privé which particularly in its first half hour kept locking into my gentleman-of-my-intimate-and-blissful-acquaintance receptors — that crazy and wonderful thing that scent can do when it hauls a specific suite of emotions right up to the surface. *He* smells like woodsmoke and coffee and dirty Nomex and whiffs of mint and pine underlain with sweet biscuits. Parfum Privé is supposed to smell like “the night air in Hawaii,” which sounds like a totally different palette, but there he is, nestled against the pulse point on my right wrist. Now it’s shifted more coconutty (but not sweetly so). Completely smitten, but not for any rational reason. 😀
I was allergic to Parfum Privee – a rash in the exact shape and size of where the sample roller rolled over. I wrote back to ask what kind of rollerballs they used and while I did not receive an answer to my question, I got a refund.
I think this may be your rollerball sample I’m trying! No rash for me, thankfully.
Hot plastic?? That would be a hard HOPE for me!
Plasticky notes are an immediate deal-breaker for me in fragrances, though I know some people like them — this one isn’t so much vinyl shower curtain as something like the smell of a hard plastic bangle left on a warm radiator. There’s a sort of hard-edged, art-deco vibe to it, if that makes any sense at all.
Completely makes sense, since Bakelite jewelry is very much part of Art Deco.
I mean, I’m certainly being swayed by the perfume name, but that’s also totally what it brings to mind.
Doing the CP, sort of, in Bulgari Eau parfumée au thé noir. It’s a 2020 purchase that I didn’t get until October 2021.
Another in a week of full-day meetings. Sigh.
That’s a long wait for a purchase!
Sorry about the meetings, that’s rough.
If splits count, I’m CP-compliant in my split of Jilted Elf which I find weirdly wonderful. Kind of like mulled wine with a hint of band-aids (no idea how I get that note). I sprayed my closet also.
I must get going on Christmas presents. I have been dragging my feet and waffling way too long.
PL67 has reminded me that I need some eggnog for my coffee. Maybe that will get me going?
I’m planning on wearing something from a split on Friday, so I think you’re totally compliant. 🙂
Trying Mango Skin today which was one of three Vilhelm samples for Day 1 of the Twisted Lily Advent calendar which started yesterday.
Very sweet and fruity w/ pretty realistic mango in the opening…enjoying it so far.
I have sniffed all the newish EL Luxury line on paper and Radiant Mirage, Blushing Sands and Infinite Sky were the most interesting but have to try on skin.
I have come to the conclusion that sniffing perfumes on paper strips just doesn’t really work for me…much prefer trying on skin. Something really gets lost on paper…like I can obviously smell the perfume but it doesn’t evolve and change the way it does on skin so it’s a poor substitute ultimately. I also feel like I am more critical and stuff doesn’t smell as good, in general, on paper so it turns me off to things I try on paper first…if that makes sense.
You got a different sample than Oakland Fresca but maybe that’s the twist?
I always try on paper first and if I can’t stand it on paper, I don’t even try wearing it. Case in point – Diptyque Oud Palao…tried it on paper 3 times on 3 different occasions and I won’t even say what I almost did the last time I smelled it.
Mango Skin was part of Day 1’s offering. After the nothing burger of yesterday’s social media launch of calendar, I decided I would open each day’s offering first thing. Coffee and perfume surprises is not a shabby way to start the day. 🙂
Leading up to CP Friday, I thought it’d be nice to revisit some of the scents I’ve purchased this year. Especially ones I bought in warmer months and have not worn in cooler weather. Today’s pick is Vol de Nuit. The galbanum seems stronger and more bitter in now, the citrus at the top much less prominent than when I wore it in the summer.
It’s going to be tough picking one for Friday. Reviewing my list, I’ve bought more than I realized this year. Eecks!
Oh, I almost wore VdN today, and reading your description reminds me that I should really give it more attention. Which version/strength are you wearing?
I have the EDT bee bottle (non vintage), it’s the only one I’ve tried. Is there one you prefer?
I love them all. The parfum is exquisite, but I think the vintage EDC is the one I love best. It (or the vintage EDT which is very close) can be found at various shops on etsy, not for a song but doesn’t take an arm or leg either.
Vol de Nuit, le swoon. Is it bad that I mostly wear it to bed? I find it so deeply soothing and settling, somehow.
We had a light dusting of snow on the front lawn this morning! And now the sun is out and the pine thing outside my window has sparkly droplets on it. Very festive! I’m finishing up the last of the holiday mailing (cards and one package) that I have to do this year, and THEN I get to start decorating the house. We don’t do a tree because (1) messy, and (2) fire hazard, but I put twinkle-lights in various places and fill big bowls with the balls and other things that most people put on trees. And then I get out the tiny fake tree that my mom hot-glued together for me, oh, 40 years ago? and find somewhere to display it. I’ve told you all this before, no doubt, but under the tree go tiny little wrapped packages, a pair of skis and ski poles, a little red wagon, a rocking horse, a train engine and caboose, and a few other things. It’s very cute and very fragile at this point, but mostly it reminds me of my first few Christmases on my own so it’s always part of the decorations.
SOTD is TF Noir Pour Femme.
I love the idea of the tiny tree and all its little accoutrements. I am finding it hard to get into the festive spirit this year. Some years are easier than others, and this one is hard…probably pandemic residue.
I know what you mean — last year I had to force it a little because the end of 2020 coincided with my retirement (which I was simultaneously happy and sad about) and I really needed my surroundings to be festive at least! I hope it gets easier for you to summon the holiday spirit as we get closer to the big day. 🙂
We had a light dusting of snow on the hilltops this morning — so magical! I’m hoping we get more later in the week; if we do, I’m pulling Biscuit out of school for the day so that we can make teeny tiny snow people in the woods.
😀 You are the best mom ever!
Nice description and repeating it makes it even more special as that is you.
That IS me — long-winded and repetitive. 😀 I wish I were more Insta-adept so I could post a picture of the little tree for y’all, but I’m just hopeless at taking photos with my phone. YOU, on the other hand, do a fantabulous job with your pics!
Well, I don’t remember your little tree from before, so I’m glad you repeated it. It sounds wonderful.
It is wonderful, if only because of the memories associated with it. 🙂
I don’t recall the story about the little tree, either. ? It seems to be a trend with people I know this year. A friend local-ish to me sent me pics of her tiny tabletop tree earlier this afternoon.
Mine is even smaller than table-top — it’s less than 9 inches tall and the base is maybe 6 inches in diameter. It really is adorable!
I unknowingly fitted with the CP on my Monday when I wore my recent purchase of Armani’s Encens Satin. Today, it’s a deliberate choice of my most recent purchase, Fatih Sultan Mehmet from Fort and Manle.
I have just figured out that I only bought 2 things this year. I might as well toss a coin 😉
Fatih Sultan Mehmed sounds really lovely.
I haven’t had much to do with monkeys but I have a strong memory of attending a kecak, monkey dance, in Bali in the mid 70s. The performers were all male, about 100 of them dressed quite simply in black and white sarongs, and they formed a dense circle chanting “cak” . It was incredibly powerful, like a vortex. Wearing Datura Noir which, despite its name, always reminds me of gorse in bloom: vanilla, white floral, nutty.
I’ve had nothing whatsoever to do with monkeys thus far in my life, but I have a colleague who worked in Central America for years and says that he still, all these years later, looks around to see if there are any monkeys in the trees that could mess with his gear and his lunch while doing fieldwork here in California.
Amazing — I have heard kekak on a CD, which is wild enough. Real life must have been almost overpowering.
The last couple of years have been such a blur that I honestly don’t remember what I’ve purchased this year, if anything. Today I am wearing Chanel Allure edt from a couple of years ago, just because it smells pretty.
I know, right?! I know I bought things, but what and when — it’s a mystery!
I have incriminating emails that tell me exactly when I purchased something. Otherwise I wouldn’t have a clue.
I had no idea what to wear, so I pulled out my vintage Chanel No19. I must have a look at my list of perfume buys for the CP.
Rabbit legs with mushroom and risoni for dinner, not bad for a diet meal…
That sounds like a great meal!
That sounds like a gourmet meal!
I’m in AG Folavril on one arm and Aedes de Venustas (2012) on the other. Trying to believe I can detect tomato leaf in both. I dearly love the rhubarb in AdV, that’s for sure. The AG is just what it is…a fruity floral that bears no resemblance whatsoever to any fruity floral in the mall.
We’re having temps in the low 80’s all week long, so I’m joining others in using up my summer decants that’s have been hanging around the place for too long! ?
I couldn’t smell tomato leaf in my sample of AG Folavril either.
I am having trouble deciding because fall-winter perfumes are my favorites, I have a lot of them, and the window for wearing them is too short. Sometimes I just think about them and end up not actually putting anything on.
Mainly I came here to share this crazy Twitter thread of dogs who look like famous actors. I can’t imagine how the guy found 18 matches. I hope you enjoy it!
https://twitter.com/JoaquimCampa/status/1462910998902448134
Which is your favorite?
Wow, those are amazing! I think my favorite is the dog for Vladimir Putin! But many others are quite funny!
Putin dog is one of my favs, too!
Thanks for the belly laughs! I think John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson are the standouts for me.
I have a problem with my fall/winter fragrances, of which I too have a lot, in that most of the year I think, “That’s a bit gloomy; I’ll save it for the darker, colder, wetter months,” and then those months come along and I’m not at all in the mood to underscore the season’s gloom. Beauties like Black March and rather a lot of incense fragrances are sitting neglected because of this…
Yeah, it’s no time for a sepulchral incense — one craves warmth and light! Leathers are great, though.
Yes! Leathers and spices — I’ve been leaning hard on Cuir de Russie and Musc Ravageur lately.
Snoop Dogg! ?
Yes!!
Absolutely! I laughed so hard at that one.
Oh, this is a good way to multitask on kinda boring meetings. 🙂
I’m a fan of William H. Macy and Patrick Stewart.
Funny! I like Harrison Ford – that lopsided grin is perfect. Samuel L. Jackson is no slouch either!
Oh my Dog! They’re all great – I haven’t laughed this hard in ages!
I saw this other Tilda pairing a while back…
https://mobile.twitter.com/thenatidude/status/629116495310815232
So good!
A bit late (as usual). Thank you for the huge laugh! Richard Branson cracked me up
Perfume PSA: ELdO is discontinuing their 30mL bottles. So if there is something you wanted in that size, now is the time to get it. Unfortunately, Fils de Dieu is already sold out. ??
Not affiliated, just on their email list… ?
Butting in to add (and possibly enable) that Fils de Dieu is available right now on fragrancebuy dawt ca – 50 ml if it’s a lemming for anyone.
*screams in horror*. I have to go shop immediately! Thanks for the heads up.
I don’t see 30 ml bottles on the site at all now? Just 50 ml and 100 ml…I’d try Fat Electrician in 30 ml but otherwise should sniff first.
Try this link: ‘

Thank you! Enabler pin…enabled. 🙂
The link is US only. Hope that’s not an issue.
Nope. We Canadians have ways to get these things. 🙂 Though…these ways have in the last two years meant ordering things with VERY delayed gratification.
Is it terrible that my heart did not go pitter-patter?
If ELdO isn’t your thing, it isn’t your thing.
Ugh, so disappointing for them to get rid of their smallest, most reasonable size. I think I’m safe from purchasing because I already have 30ml bottles of Fils de Dieu and Fat Electrician, which are my favorites of the line.
I’d been waffling back and forth on 30mLs of Fils de Dieu, but it seems that the decision has been made for me. I do have a rather nice manufacturer sample of it, though.
What a shame!
Double thunk of Iris Nazarena – travel spray and a sample are gone 🙁
I hope you get some more soon.
Better to have loved and lost* than never to have loved.
*Via joyfully using it up.
Now that they’re back in stock….
OMG, they are — have you tried the new version?
No, not uet. I will wait until I can stop by the boutique.
for the CP
Sunny Side up by Juliette has a Gun from the discovery set I bought this year
Sunny Side Up is such a great name. I did not smell it though — you love it?
Aimez-moi EDT and EDP – one on each wrist. The latter is a happy 2021 purchase.
You smell great allo!
Thank you Robin!
Back to post SOTD after another gorgeous sunny day! I felt like the Energizer Bunny today with all that wonderful solar power. Hoping to see more rays this week, but honestly, not counting on it. Because winter = clouds in the mid-Atlantic region of the US.
SOTD = Gucci Guilty Black EdT, from the sample stash. Time to start testing/trying a few samples that have been languishing in the Sample Stash.
I’m trying to put a serious dent in my sample stash before the new year, as well as committing to passing the ones I don’t love along, rather than keeping them on hand for reference.
So glad you’re having gorgeous weather! Today wound up being glorious here, too, with lots of big marshmallow-castle cumulus clouds scattered across the blue blue sky.
I’m definitely appreciating the sun, but right now my area has a bit of a precip deficit. So we could actually use a bit of rain/snow now, despite having a wetter than usual year earlier on.
I hear you — no one over here is complaining about the rain! Every drop feels like a blessing. And we got a bonus three-minute hailstorm this afternoon out of one passing cloud, with blue skies all around.
My weather people keep saying we have a good chance for a white Christmas.
I don’t think I will even have a wet Christmas here! ☔??
Beautiful here too but oh my lordie lordie lordie! I scheduled a 4:30PM call which lasted all of 3 minutes (good result) and I said heh, I can manage a walk and I did even though it turned dark 10 minutes into the walk.
On the plus side, today was the last day that the sun was setting at 4:37pm.* The days are getting longer from here on out! Whoo hoo!
* = where I am at. YMMV, NSTers.
My sotd is Flowerbomb Ruby Orchid from a Sephora tester.
I really like it! I get the Flowerbomb base but also what smells like red berries to me. It’s very juicy smelling. It stays pretty true and does not have an ambroxan or boring drydown. I did 3 sprays and it seems to stick close to the skin after about 30 minutes. I would love this in matching body products.
I am plotting for it to be my ” I made it through the winter!” Perfume treat. I will test it a few more times though.
Jalapeno the bottle is the same as the original with the pinkish juice. It’s very pretty.
Mostly I was wondering about the color of the bottle. That shape in red would be something else! Guess that’s not the case though.
I don’t think it is. The tester was full, so I might have just assumed it was the juice. I will look more closely next time.
Not to enable or anything but you may want to stalk this on Sephora’s 20% off FB purchase. No clue for how long the promotion lasts. I did not see this particular one though.
Oh I saw that! I did the math though, and figured I could wait until the next sale. Also, I am thinking there could be a gift set with body products for Valentines or Mother’s day.
For some reason, I did not think Sephora normally did 20% off for Valentine’s or Mother’s Day but they could be changing their business model.
I think the are, because I don’t recall them doing an extra 20% before like they did last week. I don’t think they do anything for valentines.
George Sand, Histoires de Parfums, or an ode to pineapple. It’s actually a really nice floriental. I love how you add cocoa to your tea. I got some nice chocolate themed infusions from Damman Frères a while ago and have only just started the first: chocolate and orange. It is delicious and very chocolaty.
Oh, that Damman Freres sounds wonderful, and so does the spice one.
No perfume yet today since I’ve been feeling my booster shot with headache, fatigue, and body aches, though to a much lesser degree than the the first two shots. Honestly, the biggest bummer is that a pain set into my neck while I slept last night, so I’ve just been trying to minimize that pain today. I’m defintely feeling better all around at this point in the day and even managed to be productive and finish the book I’ve been reading, Broken Monsters by Lauren Beukes. Thankful I was able to have a planned sick day. I’ll find some easygoing perfume to dab on tonight.
Sorry to hear you’ve had a rough day! I hope there’s a good night’s sleep and vast improvement on all fronts before you!
I hope you are over the hump with the side effects!
Yuck, that sounds like it was not pleasant.
Sounds like my reaction — really hope you are better tomorrow!
Finished off an old sample of Byredo Chembur, which shows its age because it was renamed Encens Chembur years ago. It’s actually a really nice incense that I probably should have paid more attention to.
Late to the party!

For Day 14 of my perfume advent calendar. So floral it doesn’t smell very floral, right up my alley! I will post links later as I haven’t had time to take pictures and post.
Besides getting some exercise with walking, I wanted to see if some of the inflatables and other decors were lit up…and some of them were! At one house, a man came out to ask if he can help me with something and I said I was taking pictures of his Christmas decor. He said he will turn on the lights. He did! At another place, I now figured out where the woman who walks in the afternoon / evening with a baby carriage and a dog on a leash lives. I asked if I can step on her driveway to take a picture and she said yes. I normally don’t encounter people while taking pictures but today was a good day.
How cool, that you encountered some nice people on your walk this afternoon!
Absolutely … it could have gone the opposite way but how could it really if I am not on their property?
Sad to say, sometimes people aren’t rational…
This is true!
Are you posting the decoration pictures?
No the ones I took from these houses. I will bundle them up by theme.
Lovely that people were so happy to accommodate your sightseeing! Little Biscuit and I have been taking after-dark, before-dinner walks to check out the holiday lights in our little town — no one goes super overboard but lots of pretty sparkles, and the guy down the street with the giant T-rex statue has wrapped it in lights this year, to the delight of young and old.
This sounds nice!
Not managing to fall asleep tonight so posting late.
I was wearing Botanical Essence No 1as a NST did a little while back, it is very uplifting and so long-lasting for a 97% natural perfume.
Tonight I am in Annick Goutal Eau Étoilée for calmness.

Oh no! I hope you can get a little sleep tonight.
Thank you Lillyjo, it seems impossible to fall asleep tonight, so I am giving up for the moment, preparing a snack of grilled tomato and cheese.
Wow, this is late for you!
I’ve given up trying, currently having a snack, I’ll be a zombie tomorrow, thank you for your thoughtfulness.
Coming by late today. Popped in earlier but that mug in today’s picture sent me on a tangent to buy some Christmas gifts. (Thanks Robin – I had been putting that off for no good reason.)
Continued with the new Zara X JM scents today with Energetically New York and Elegantly Tokyo. The listed notes for ENY are cardamom, jasmine, and sandalwood, but they forgot to mention pickle juice. I am amused that they made a Santal 33 dupe to represent NYC. This is the quieter younger sibling of Santal 33, not as loud (though louder than most JMs) and somewhat dewier, but undeniably a sibling with that pickle juice sandalwood.
The listed notes for ET are lily, jasmine, and akigalawood. At first I thought it was LOTV, but 10 minutes in it was clearly regular garden lily. Some sweetness, which is unexpected since lily and jasmine usually break bitter on me. I’m not getting the vase water that sometimes comes with lilies. Of the four I have tried from this line, this is my favorite so far.
F&M Jubilee tea today. It was on the mild side for my taste. Makes for a nice afternoon tea.
That’s very funny about the New York!
I was here earlier but wanted to post 2 IG links:

The chocolate is amazing! I would hate to eat it. ( of course I would though!)
I have been busy a lot. Even if I don’t post every single day – I still read most og Y’alls comments.
Robin – I couldn’t LOVE the image anymore!! Loooove this picture with a house shaped teapot and it’s matching cup!! Thank You for this.
Then you need one, right?
Glad you are well even if busy!
