It's Almost-Friday, National Pastry Day and International Anti-Corruption Day. Birthdays: Joseph Pilates, Redd Foxx, Judi Dench. What fragrance are you wearing?
I am commando for an early dentist appointment. Hopefully I will be home soon and wearing something cheerful.
Reminder: on 12/10, for Emily Dickinson's birthday, wear a fragrance with a note she mentioned in one of her poems (helpful lists here, here, here).
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Dickinson chypre day four: nineties-era Clinique Aromatics Elixir. I have a tiny amount left and I’m sort of hoarding it because there is nothing quite as brutal, not even Mitsouko: sometimes I ask myself if it’s even presentable, let alone beautiful. But of course it really is beautiful in that severe chypre manner.
I would really like to smell the vintage version, I am a big fan of this scent
Oooo Elixir Aromatics. Love that one. One like no other.
You smell wonderful!
I wish I would have sniffed that one back in the day!
I got some decants and minis in the mail yesterday, so I’m wearing DS & Durga St. Vetyver.
The husband has gone off to work in the office again, so I’ve given myself two gigantically luxurious sprays of Sundowner again, but the real reason I’m posting today is to tell you all that I’ll be eating Cheetos Mac & Cheese from a box for lunch. Being alone in the house is great.
Yay! I so value that time alone, even if I’m working through most of it. The rest of the Ockeghems just headed out the door for the day, and it is quiet. From here on out these moments will be fewer, as Mr. Ockeghem is at that point of the year where he doesn’t have to be in the office much.
I love everything about this!
What Gail says; plus, FYI I saw the CM&C and I was with my husband in the store and I thought “I’ll get one of those sometime when he’s not around to howl at me,” LOL! And we’ve been married 36 years!!
Hahahaha good to know it never changes!
Enjoy that Mac & Cheese! ?
Ha! I had no idea there was Cheetos Mac and cheese. My kids would probably love it. I have seen Cheetos chicken wings advertised on tv….Applebee’s maybe?
There’s also a Jalapeno mac and cheese, it’s really good!
Now that sounds really appealing!
Ok, so I stopped at the store on the way home because I needed some other stuff and they didn’t have either of these flavors. What the heck?! No wonder I didn’t know about them! Now I’m on a mission to find them.?
If it isn’t already a available, there should be Cheetos Dust in the spice section.
Yes, for adding to the flour mixture for chicken fingers.
I did not know either! I am not sure I wanted to know!
I had no clue about the Cheetos Mac & Cheese either. And I walked right down that aisle grocery shopping earlier today! Didn’t see it; I was focused on getting everything on my list and getting out unscathed.
Enjoy your precious alone-time!
LOL!! Live it up, girl!
when my exhusband would go back to work in Saudi Arabia, I relished the quiet.
Good morning.
Sotd is JM Velvet Rose and Oud dry body oil layered with Red Roses. Third day of roses this week!
My CP matching new bottle just arrived and I am excited to wear it tomorrow 😀
I am planning on rose tomorrow 🙂
The advent calendar’s Jam of the Day is strawberry-linden blossom, so I’m carrying the theme forward in Amouse Bouche, a fragrance I don’t often reach for but which occasionally hits the spot with its snuggly girlishness. THE SUN IS SHINING!!! I went outside this morning a bit before sunrise and the amount of light actually hurt my eyes. Looking forward to a morning in the woods with one of my favorite colleagues and a chance to build up a little Vitamin D.
??? Enjoy!
Strawberry-linden blossom sounds delicious!
Seriously!
Yay sun! We got a few tiny rays today between rainshowers and I went out on to the porch to soak it up.
???! woot woot woot!
No SOTD yet, but yesterday’s was Iris Nazarena, which I haven’t worn in a while because I’ve been hoarding the decant. I don’t have to hoard any longer!
So far the hilarity of the day has been the Japanese rose bubble bath Ockeghem Tween got in her Advent calendar this morning. It was a complete Google Translate fail, in the most amusing way — we got everything from “explosive hot water” to “explosive sweat lagoon” to “sun beauty death”. I’m…pretty…sure it’s just rose bubble bath, though. 😀
HA HA HA! I love “explosive sweat lagoon.” Just imagine, hmmm?
Love “explosive sweat lagoon”. That should be the name of the Tween’s new band!
? I kind of like “Sun Beauty Death.”
It has a very ‘90s grunge feel to it…
When we lived in Japan, my daughter had a sweat shirt that said, “He fall from sky like ball full of snow”. No picture, just that random saying.
Priceless!
I LOVE this. When we lived in Germany, Ockeghem Tween (who was still Little Ockeghem then) had a sweater that said “Hello” in sequins. I loved this, because Little Ockeghem would talk to anyone anywhere, and because a sweater like that would never fly at home. (Also, it was fabulous for meme-ification with Lionel Richie lyrics.)
I wonder if there are American made products anywhere in the world with these kinds of mysterious translations into other languages?
Its my belief Japan owns this space better than anywhere else.
I would have to agree. Though I’m pretty sure it’s possible that all of this could be translated quite well by a competent translator, rather than bad AI.
I’m in Chanel No. 19 edt. I tossed a few decants in my bag when I packed; today I had time to root around today to see what I actually brought.
I’m wearing my new blue glasses today and decided I needed to put on a Lisa Eldridge lippie combo to go out for my stroll.
Lisa Eldridge lippie combo twins! Mine is Velvet Muse and its matching gloss.
Oh, I have and love Muse! Today I went totally out of my comfort zone and went with Dragon liner paired with luxuriously lucent Go Lightly.
I bet that combo is divine ?
It was! I lightly applied the liner all over, my lips, then dabbed the lippie on top (like I’ve seen Lisa do!).
It totally changed the lipstick color, more appropriate for this time of year.
You smell wonderful!
Thank you!
I am wearing al Air de Rien with a drop of Musk Tonkin, not a bad combo at all. It’s really snuggly for a cold rainy day, although I am sure there was no musk deer or neroli in Emily’s garden…
That sounds like a nice combo, will have to try it!
She did have a greenhouse so orange blossom does not seem out of the question, but I do rather doubt it.
I’m in Rebecca Minkoff from a generous nster. Very soft and work appropriate.
I had the most strange and vivid dreams last night and I remember them all, which is unusual for me. In one of them I got to work to find that my schedule was doubled booked all the way through 2 hours past my end time. AND I was training someone. I guess this could be called a nightmare, lol.
Happy Friday eve!
Dream analysis: You need a holiday!
Ha! That’s funny. My husband took the psychology of sleep and dreams in college. Ironically, I was the psychology major, and did not. Wish I would have!
You smell good. I wasn’t expecting much from the Rebecca Minkoff and I was pleasantly impressed.
I agree with Kanuka’s dream analysis – time for some time off!
Thanks! Yes, this seems like one of those easy to wear scents. No extra time off for me til March. I started a new job at the end of October and need to build up my pto so I can head to sunny Florida for spring break.?
In Pacifica Tibetan Mountain Temple. I haven’t worn it for a long time because I was hoarding what is left in the bottle. I’d better wear it more often, because I think it is evaporating! ?
Happy Thursday! ?
The dilemma is awful, isn’t it? Use it and you use it up, hoard it and you risk having it evaporate or go skunky. These days I lean towards using it up: earlier this year I drained a bunch of vintage minis including Cabochard, Cinnabar, and White Linen (which was in fact evaporating). I’m sorry they’re gone, but I’m glad I could enjoy them while I still had them.
Yes, I certainly err on the side of saving things, rather than enjoying them. Perfume, cosmetics, knitting yarn. But am trying to use things up — because you can’t take them with you.
There’s an acronym that is popular in the knitting/fiber-art community: SABLE — stash acquisition beyond life expectancy. I fear I am guilty of it in multiple areas. It does not make me happy.
I am there with multiple things as well. :-/
So true! The dilemma is awful! I finished a couple of full bottles and decants this past summer, and even though I enjoyed them greatly, it was very sad to apply the last drop. Still, I think it is better to wear and say goodbye to our perfumes than let them disappear, which is basically like pouring them in the drain.
So much better to use and enjoy them, even if they don’t last forever. I think that ethereal quality is part of the enjoyment.
Hey perfumelover67! If you are interested in another bottle of TMT, I might be able to help you out…
Thank you, Jalapeno, it is so nice of you, but I have so many bottles to go thru, that I am fine for now. ?
I wore Arbolé yesterday. I don’t think the notes are CP compliant, but it was inspired by a poem. So, close enough for me! I might repeat today, because it was so lovely and comforting.
And you smelled great! I love that one.
Great choice!
Paid some pesky bills early so I don’t have to think about them later on. Wore no 5 edt earlier and now in Tobacco Vanille.
Perfumed high five – my internet bill is paperless and I always subtract as soon as I get paid for that reason.
SotD Estee Lauder’s Sensuous Stars, called a fruity chypre, from my coffret. At the first spray, I liked it, sniffing a connection to YSL Champagne/Yvresse (so, I noticed did someone on Fragrantica) but that was fleeting. I next thought “Estee Lauder meets Atelier,” or EL “x” Atelier Cologne, as they say now. But all the while a 21st century, functional-perfume soapy freshness kept up its song – making me confused about how I’d define a luxury perfume. I think there is some aroma chemical or accord that I might be able to figure out which would connect the EL and Atelier scents, but that is for another day. Atelier colognes never smell fresh or soapy to me, and they create great scent bubbles. Sensuous Stars has that scent bubble too. I remembered EL’s Sensuous line, but somehow I don’t think SS references that. Odd.
“Scent bubble” is an intriguing idea. Could you say a bit more about it?
Hi Calypso – that’s what I call being able to smell the perfume I am wearing most of the time, or at least getting regular whiffs of it. It’s not an original term of mine. I think of it as one level up from skin scent.
So far, no lemmings have been stirred by your description of the fancy-schmancy EL line. My wallet thanks you.
Good morning all!
I’ve been wearing Bois d’Armenie every day for over a week now. I’m in love.
Good thing it’s National Pastry Day because a sweet colleague at work brought me two of them this morning and I could not eat them fast enough.
Hope everyone is having a good week and your holiday preparations are going smoothly.
you smell fab!
Thank you, Apsara!
Nice to see you posting!
oye ve, I have hives on my arms.
teeny tiny bit of MM Mandela which is not what I had hoped for.
Oh no! Did the perfume cause the hives? Hives are the pits!
Nope, I have chronic idiopathic hives that seem to be a mystery to all.
wiped off Mandela, took an anti histamine and now have on a touch of DSH Cimmabue which is very lovely indeed.
I’m sorry about your hives. Hopefully they will vanish very soon.
I had a cherry turnover as a snack, so I am national pastry day appropriate.
I am wearing Angel Muse over BBW praline and pear lotion. Tomorrow looks to be a good sale on body products. 5.50 each, I believe.
I will be going to work soon for the night, and I am a little nervous about the disgruntled ex employee from yesterday. The company is letting us have a real security guard for the next 3 days because of it. 3 days!? Make sure my family sues if something happens to me on the 4th day! ( lol… kinda)
Oh, dear — I am glad they’ve sent you a guard and I truly hope nothing sends the guard into action.
I didn’t see your post yesterday but I hope everything is okay.
Oh no! I’m hoping this person was the type who gets it all out and then never comes back, and moves on to the next place without ever mentioning they worked for you.
Yes, this.
Hope everything will be quiet for you tonight and over the next few days.
I saw your post late yesterday. Wow, sorry about all that! I hope it’s an extremely uneventful night.
I’m joining the chorus in hoping you have a dull and unremarkable series of nights, and that this former colleague is never seen or heard from again.
I’m sorry about your experience — glad your workplace is providing some security! Once when I was dealing with a very angry, scary student, the campus police sent over not one, but TWO of the largest men I’ve ever seen, to stand in the hallway. It was very comforting.
Ugh! Talk about stress on top of stress! I hope you have an incredibly boring night with no freak shows appearing out of the ether! Really feel for you. ?
That praline & pear is delicious, hope they offer it again some day. Sending positive vibes for no trouble at work.
Sending positive thoughts and hoping your working day goes well and peaceful!
I hope that the rest of this month is boring, boring, and boring for you at work.
I hope you have a very boring few nights ahead of you, lillyjo. Thanks for the heads up on the sale. I have a few more gifts to buy, and BBW will do nicely.
I’m still trying out things from my Amouage sample set (gift from me to me), and today’s is Reflection Woman. It’s definitely a bit too aquatic for me but I think Emily might approve of the magnolia note in it. I haven’t checked yet to be sure that she mentions this kind of tree/flower but it seems likely. In other big news (BIG NEWS) I am leaving soon to go get a much needed haircut–yay! I’ve been apologizing for my hair on Zoom this week.
Your perfume sounds beautiful. I love magnolia. On the ED archives you can do word searches , if the mood takes you.
Enjoy your haircut experience.
https://www.edickinson.org/search
I did a magnolia word search and there was nothing . But I bet she had a tree in her garden!
Wow thanks! I did some searching and several sites mentioned the star magnolias as blooming in her homestead garden now, at least (in the spring that is).
Wonderful! I love all magnolias, but especially the deciduous ones.
Here it is! https://www.instagram.com/p/CXRkpJ4JxTNdQJ6Y_cF3kv40FtcXOJeGrAtRqo0/?utm_medium=copy_link
You look stunning. And smart!
Oh that’s very chic!
Happy hair cut to you!
Thanks!
Thanks for the mini review on Reflection Woman. And a big YAY for a haircut!
She rose to his requirement, dropped
The playthings of her life
To take the honorable work
Of woman and of wife.
If aught she missed in her new day
Of amplitude, or awe,
Or first prospective, or the gold
In using wore away,
It lay unmentioned, as the sea
Develops pearl and weed,
But only to himself is known
The fathoms they abide.
I am going with a perfume that has a great deal of internal depth and beauty, ( a hidden pearl) Mitsouko. I read this poem and found it pretty sombre and the first line ‘ She rose to his requirement’ gut wrenching…what is lost in marriage, and how one protects the core of oneself in some hidden place. But there are quite a few responses that see it in a more positive light , as a satirical poem, for example, or a as a proto-feminist work. Anyway, I am enjoying this CP and have read and discovered so much about ED that I missed when I was a student, so thanks Robin.
Oof. How times have changed — the notion that women, throughout most of history, had to consider wifehood as a necessary ingredient of womanhood jolts me. Gut wrenching indeed. I want to believe that Emily wrote that satirically, but not sure I can.
I can see protecting the core of oneself as being a proto feminist statement, but like you, I read that and find it gut wrenching.
Beautiful post and beautiful perfume, we are house twins today!
That poem is surely also making an allusion of some sort to The Tempest!
Missed that completely!
I am learning too…many of the poems people have posted (including yours, today, which is amazing) I had not read. 2 nights ago started Lives Like Loaded Guns: Emily Dickinson and Her Family’s Feuds, which I am not adoring so far but it was the only thing I could borrow immediately from the library on kindle. I am going to look for a proper biography after the holiday.
I took a class on Shakespeare, and surveys on Russian lit and Latin American lit, but other than that, all my college level lit classes were on the 20th century, and now I want to go back to college 🙂
Such a melancholy poem.
Two very light sprays of 31 rue Cambon. Too light, I think, because four hours later I have to glue my nose to my arm to smell it.
I’ve had one video meeting and one in-person exam thus far today; another video meeting in an hour, followed by 1:1 final conferences with students, followed by a three-hour, in-person exam. (Do I have time to eat dinner? Probably not.) The student who took the morning exam (a make-up) sniffled and sneezed and coughed the whole time. I stayed as far away as possible and was glad to have a KN-95 to wear. We have both COVID and regular flu going through our student population right now. I do not have time to get sick.
What a day! Sending wellness vibes your way.
Stay well vibes!
Adding more!! Stay well, skalolazka.
I’m in Indochine today, as armour of a sort against the booster shot I’m getting this afternoon. Hoping for just a sore arm, but have cleared my calendar for tomorrow just in case. Mr. G has stocked up on chicken soup. ?
Good luck with your booster!
So far so good!
Fingers crossed!
🙂
Hoping that you don’t get much, if anything, in the way of side effects!
So far there’s just a little soreness at the jab site. I’ve been moving my arm up and down, like jumping jacks without the jumping, since I got home. Mr. G approves, but says I’ll feel it more tomorrow anyway. He loves to give me unsolicited medical advice. ?
I’m very much enjoying Prada Infusion d’Iris Cedre today, and I’m pairing it with Dickinson’s “I dwell in possibility” (466).
I’m also kicking myself for getting talked into buying shampoo I didn’t really want yesterday. I will just return it, but I’ve given myself another chore!
I did surprise myself by liking Chloe Naturelle when I spritzed it last night. I’ve been moved by exactly 0 Chloe scents in the past, but this one is just a clear, natural-smelling garden rose without a lot of “perfumeyness”, which is what I’ve been craving lately.
I liked Chloe Naturelle when I tried it recently on a rare drop-by at Sephora. I agree, a very clean, fresh rose.
I’m joining the moss fans in Thierry Mugler’s Chyprissime.
Nice!
Iris for me again today, in Mendittorosa’s Omega. Can’t wait for tomorrow afternoon and Friyay! Tomorrow is our last scheduled exams day, although we’ll have a couple of one-off make up exams on Monday. End of semester is so close I can taste it!
Yay for being so close to vacation!
What a nice feeling.
Almost there! You can do it!
Guys! Happy Thursday!
SOTD: BR540.
Am at the new job today ( am in the Downtown HQ for Portland) and I was stopped 3 times about this perfume!
The job: good so far- a complete info dump, so my brain is tired! That combined with the Hardware job has me crawling into bed at 10 pm!
How are you?
Congratulations! That sounds like a really auspicious day!
Off to a good start!
Yay you! Hope you will get good rest at some point!
I think I am gonna soak in the tub on Sunday and curl up with a book!
Yay, co-workers who like perfume, no less!
Like seriously!
A good omen for the new job!
It really was!?
I started the day in Diptyque Fleur de Peau and tonight it’s Réminiscence Tonka.
Two lovelies, you smell so nice.
Thank you ?, Tonka is very rich-smelling and I love the iris and musky FdP.
Rem Tonka is THE reference perfume for tonka to me.
We both enjoy this one, very Good projection and lasting, there is also Rem patchouli, a classic.
Wearing Caleche today, because it’s a great old standby.
For all of you outfit fans, I am wearing my black wool MaxMara trousers that I got at the rummage sale for $3. They are paired with a beige silk asymmmetric hemline top with deep blue, purple and black flowers on it. We’re having our work holiday celebration today and I wanted something that would be dressy but not red and green.
Yep, you smell fantastic! And MaxMara wool trousers for $3 is amazing, why does that never happen to me?
Wow, great outfit! AND you smell great!
Awesome deal on the trousers! You smell great in Caleche.
Another gray dreary day here, so I’m in the warming Amber Russe from PdE. I’ve had this decant since forever and it’s still going strong!
Apropos to nothing, I’m very impressed that my solar setup has performed so well in these PNW cloudy, rainy skies. It’s not often these days that something works better than you thought it would.
You smell great. Having rainy days down in San Diego too.
You thought ahead and did it right. Kudos!
I got lucky on that the DSH Colorado lottery and it arrived today, so that’s what I’m wear. It is overwhelming (in a good way). I get spruce and all parts of the maple tree. There are so many things happening at once, but those are the only two I can tease out specifically. Successful blind buy.
Fortnum & Mason is impressing me with the fruity teas and tisanes in their advent calendar. Yesterday I had Apricot, Honey & Lavender and it was delicious. This afternoon I’m drinking Shipper Clip’s log cabin, which is a like a chai with lapsang souchong and maple.
That Colorado sounds great, I was afraid to blind buy, glad it worked out.
Oh, mine has not gotten here yet, now I am hopeful it will show up today or tomorrow…I need a whiff of the mountains….
I got mine today, too and will wait until next year (!) to wear it from the new bottle!
I’m on my own theme of vanilla and almond this week it seems. Yesterday was Kiss Me Intense and today is Lalique. No idea if either fits cp.
Snowing again…big, fluffy flakes coming down. Tree is up, but not the Village. Will try to finish that tonight. Today is dealing with open enrollment healthcare stuff…. Ugh. Thankful it’s just once a year.
Good luck getting the insurance stuff done LizzieB!
Thanks. Will finalize on Monday with a broker/advisor I know. My current plan is going up in price, but another may work okay. Then we get to deal with the snarl that is Medicare next year.
Jardin’s d’Armide. Rose is definitely in a Dickinson poem
Yep — points for you!
Chamade, Guerlain. Extrait de parfum. Loving it just as much as yesterday’s Shalimar. They are such great comfort blankets of gorgeousness, if you are into big baroque perfumes that is.
Oooooooooh.
So good!
I’m wearing Jul et Mad Stairway to Heaven.
In Muglar’s Supra Floral, a second large decant for me that I am working through. I am feeling quite grown-up perfume-wise in that I keep testing and testing this one. I vacillate between “YEESSSS!” and “what was I thinking, this is a complete pass” every time I try it. I guess that vacillation is answer in itself–Hey Mugler, “she’s just not that into you!”
Which gets me very on point for the CP–for what was Emily Dickinson if not the great lyricist for perpetual ambivalence–about mortality, sex, faith and so on.
Try this ambivalence on for size:
This World is not Conclusion.
A Species stands beyond –
Invisible, as Music –
But positive, as Sound –
It beckons, and it baffles –
Philosophy, dont know –
And through a Riddle, at the last –
Sagacity, must go –
To guess it, puzzles scholars –
To gain it, Men have borne
Contempt of Generations
And Crucifixion, shown –
Faith slips – and laughs, and rallies –
Blushes, if any see –
Plucks at a twig of Evidence –
And asks a Vane, the way –
Much Gesture, from the Pulpit –
Strong Hallelujahs roll –
Narcotics cannot still the Tooth
That nibbles at the soul –
I originally bought Supra Floral because Antonia was too expensive. I caved and bought the latter, but have ended up wearing the former more frequently.
That’s a chilling poem. I especially dislike that tooth! Yikes!
But you know, I like the framing of being agnostic/skeptic/undecided/ambivalent as active –“nibbling at the soul,” rather than passive. I am someone who is eternally wading through the gray. For me there is rarely the clarity of black and white. This wading in the gray feels more like being nibbled than, say, sitting on a fence, to me.
I put on Coco elixer which is pretty glamorous for a day that will be spent in sweats, vacuuming, dusting and washing floors.
Wait, what is Coco elixir?
I’m with OF. What about this Coco elixer, cuz there’s a lemming in the room with me now…
Wearing the warm weather Ambre Narguile from my almost-untouched travel spray. Turns out it keeps giving me indigestible-cookie vibes, which is a pity.
Indigestible cookie vibes sound very much Not Right!
I went with Urban Lily from Strange Invisible Perfumes, which it seems wasn’t the right choice today. It’s a lily of the valley (my least favorite floral note in perfume) but it is composed around the idea of the whole plant: the stems, leaves, flowers. It’s very sharp and green, and it’s not hitting right on this cold December day. I’ll wait until spring to wear it again.
Oh, I also retried Tauer’s LOTV perfume, Carillon Pour Une Ange, the other night and had to scrub it off. Once upon a time back in the day, I thought from the dab of a sample that I might like that one. Spraying it is a big fat no! Into the giveaway sample baggie it went.
LOTV is a difficult note for me too. The only ones I’ve enjoyed are Guerlain Muguet and Parfums Dusita Cavatina.
LOTV is one of my favorite floral notes, and I love green perfumes as well. You’ve just created a lemming with Urban Lily, although I agree, it sounds like it would be much better in Spring.
I’m with you! I’ve written monthlong blog marathons on LOTV. Will have to check out Urban Lily, though cazaubon is right that Guerlain’s Muguet is gorgeous. I just got a sample of Cavatina, can’t wait to try it.
Ixnay on LOTV for me too.
I can’t deal with modern LOTV. Whatever aromachemical is used is a spiky, stabby, green horror show to my nose. But vintage Diorissimo is absolutely gorgeous.
Dark and rainy here today, waiting patiently for Fedex to show up with a package that requires a signature, containing my Black Friday purchases of Dusita Cavatina and Moonlight in Chiangmai. Sprayed a sample of Sana Jardin Sandalwood Temple this morning. Pleasant but not compelling. After a bubble bath I’ll switch to SL Fourreau Noir.
Yay for package anticipation! Did it show up?
It did! Fedex always shows up around 4:30pm (despite the email notice claiming it would arrive by 9:50am). Just getting ready to tear it open and spritz.
Excellent! Delivery times in my neighborhood have become rather erratic lately, so it’s nice to hear from someone who doesn’t have that issue.
Mitsouko again, today, just because….why not? 🙂
Indeed! No reason why not!
LOVE today’s art/picture, Robin!
Another busy day today. The dirty dishes seem to be reproducing at an exponential rate lately. Both Mr. Jalapeno and I went grocery shopping. He does all the Costco runs, while I do the local grocery store and Wegman’s.
SOTD = back in AG Ambre Fetiche. A bit more from my “dregs” sample, which is now thick and oily, topped off with a spray from my bottle.
I keep almost joining Costco. Do you think the fee is worth it?
For us, it is! Mr. Jalapeno got the Executive Membership as a job perk back in the early 2000’s. That job is long gone, but we still have that membership. We purchase enough through the year that the rebate check we get pays the membership fee.
We get certain staples at Costco, plus they seem to have the best steaks in our area. (The steaks are NOT an everyday item for us!)
And actually, if you don’t spend enough, you get the difference between what you paid for the membership and your rebate check. I used to buy more at Costco but I can only eat so much. I have to say I don’t recall ever buying steak at Costco…?
Those steaks freeze rather well, if you decide to run that experiment! They are Flintstone-sized! ?
SOTD = Chris Rusak Io
Woohoo again! Although not a rule for sure, I try to wear the perfume that has a color affinity with the season and this one is red with earth, incense and resins!

Pretty pic!
I started the day in the original Aedes de Venustas, and added Nemat Vanilla Musk this afternoon for comfort. A much loved aunt passed yesterday morning, and this afternoon we received word that there would be a graveside service tomorrow at 2pm. It’s a nine hour drive from here, so my sisters and I would have to leave at 4am to get there. None of us can make it, and I’m a little upset that we had so little notice. I’m sitting with a cup of white tea, a PB&J sandwich and NST, plus a dog in my lap, so life is good.
My deepest condolences on your dear aunt’s passing. That’s rough.
Thank you Jalapeno.
So sorry to hear about your aunt’s passing. Sending hugs and peace!
Thanks PL67! She was a sweetheart.
I’m very sorry Nancyleandros.
Thanks lillyjo. Please be safe at work, ladybug.
Nancyleandros, I’m so sorry, and of course sorry you will not be able to make the service 🙁
Thanks Robin. The cousins will all get together sometime in the new year to reminisce.
