Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit! Welcome to November (and Movember, Native American Heritage Month, National Pomegranate Month and NaNoWriMo). What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Parfum d'Empire Mal-Aimé.
Reminder: 11/5 is SWINTON’s birthday. Wear Like This, or any other Etat Libre d'Orange fragrance, if you have one. If you don't, or if you're not in the mood for Etat Libre d'Orange (or if you just wore Like This for the Pumpkin Spice project), do something else. You could listen to Tilda Swinton read the Rumi poem that inspired the fragrance, and choose something based on that?
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Wonder World Round Tray by Emma Shipley is $44 at Amara.
Rabbit rabbit rabbit!
Also big celebrations here for Dia de Los Muertas, which I have come to love.
Chilly here and for that it’s Le Lion.
I almost wore Le Lion as well. You smell wonderful.
thank you!
Rabbit rabbit rabbit!
It’s a beautiful bright cool autumn morning that I’ll be heading out to soon and any leaves still on the trees are a brilliant gold, so I’m wearing… the dark and moody SL Fourreau Noir. I put on a little last night before going to bed because it seemed fairly Hallowe’enish and black-licoricey, and this morning what was left of it was just irresistible, so I’m starting the process all over again.
Movember is a no-go because I have had facial hair since I was 15 and they’ll take it from my cold dead face, but NaNoWriMo… well, even if I write something, nobody will ever see it, but isn’t it kind of tempting? Kind of a spur?
Hold on to that facial hair ha!
???!
Welcoming November in Donna Karan Black Cashmere. I hope this month is a healthier and more cheerful one for our family and everyone else!
Having my second cup of plain coffee and ready to face the first meeting of the day!
Happy Monday and happy November! ☕?
Plain coffee?! Is this a first?
Happy November!???
Lol! Busy morning to add anything, but the third cup, this afternoon, may see some cinnamon! ☕
Here’s hoping the rabbits bode a much better month for you, PL67!
Thank you, Ockeghem! ?
DK Black Cashmere is marvelous, you smell wonderful!
Thank you, SmokeyToes! I wish I had grabbed a bub, before it was discontinued. It is one of my favorite perfumes!
Ahhh, Black Cashmere, one of my favorites! May this be a wonderful month for you and your family!
Thank you, Isabella!
You smell fab, dahling!
Thank you, KellyC!
??? (stole your rabbits!)
Cozy in No. 5, coffee with vanilla and collegen, and layers of clothes – we are resisting lighting our fire for as long as possible…
Have to accept that winter is coming….
Happy November, everyone!
We have to accept it but we don’t have to like it! ?
NO. 5 makes me feel prepared for anything….
Perfume twins!
Yay for coffee, No. 5 and layers of warm clothes haha.
I have not yet accepted that winter is coming 🙂
Me neither. I was both outraged and surprised by the cold this morning!
We are just back from our evening walk: coats, hats, gloves, all of it! YUCK.
to everything turn, turn, turn…
there is a season turn, turn, turn…
and a time to every purpose under heaven
I guess. Sigh.
I’m wearing Fille en Aiguilles, and wishing for a full bottle. Is this discontinued?
I think it got moved to the skinny black bottle.
It’s still available, because Uncle Serge is not in the habit of discontinuing his creations, but unfortunately now it’s only available in the tall black gratte-ciel bottle, 100 mL, $355 USD.
Sigh. I had better go back to very sparing applications of my favourite Serges, this one included.
Rabbits
SOTD Soleil Blanc Shimmering Body Oil
Off to do my online Italian lessons .. .ciao!
Buona giornata!
You smell nice! Ciao!
Ciao! Hope your lesson went well. Have you read any more of Whereabouts?
No, I paused. It was a little to much for me. I will put it aside and come back to it when I am in the mood for that sort of book.
That sounds like a good thing to do. The last place we need to be challenged right now is in our reading-life itself is enough. Hugs.
Using this week to tackle that big box of ELDO samples that I’ve barely made a dent in. Up today is Rien – smoky and fortifying for what promises to be a long Monday. Don’t think I love it but worth a try if you like incense.
Had a nice weekend visiting hubby’s parents, aunt and uncle up in Tukwila. His parents occasionally fly down from AK to visit the big Filipino supermarket there and stock up on stuff they can’t get in our little island hometown. Ate too much, had a good time.
We had NO trick or treaters last night! I don’t know if it’s the new neighborhood or COVID, but we’ve got a ton of chocolate sitting around now. It’s been a while since I’ve been in a neighborhood where I get more than a couple, I miss seeing the cute little costumes. Anyway. Happy Monday, everyone!
I love Asian markets – I’m too spoiled living in the Bay area, we have so many!
Adobo (I make mine with a mix of chicken and pork) is a great comfort food!
We have a couple small ones, and we’re close to Portland where there’s a bunch – this place was massive though!
Adobo’s one of my favorites, but I ate so much yesterday I could have burst.
We didn’t get any kids at all this year, either. Usually we get one or two stray groups that wander into our courtyard. This year I bought a box of 8 full-sized candy bars, figuring that’d cover it, and we didn’t need any. (We live a block off a main drag, and it’s mostly apartments / condos in the first block off it, so I think the kids all avoid this block and head for the big houses a couple blocks in.)
I also love Asian markets, and I’m spoiled to live in a city that has a ton of them. 🙂 We have a Filipino grocery a block away.
I wonder if they’re transitioning into events rather than door to door? I know there’s Halloween events for kids that happen at malls and such. That’s kind of a bummer, that was half the fun, seeing which houses went all out with decorations and stuff.
We have a Filipino grocery a few minutes away but their bakery was nowhere near as big as this one. We have enough ube rolls to get us through an apocalypse now.
I think that’s part of it. There were a bunch of kids at a Halloween party down the street. I should have dropped off all my candy there 🙂
Halloween seemed like it was at about half capacity here, both in terms of the number of trick-or-treaters and the number of welcoming houses. I think a fair number of people weren’t feeling comfortable with the exposure risk. Although, our little town now has a 100% vaccination rate for the 12+ crowd, so I felt pretty okay about it.
100?? ? that’s pretty awesome. Must be small haha
Yes, total population here is around 1000.
Rabbit rabbit rabbit!
Sotd is Shalimar Vanilla Planifloria. I liked it so much I got a back up bottle. Now I can spritz more generously unlike my Madagascar, which I am saving…
Yay for BUB!
I used to have Like This and enjoyed it. Nothing else by the brand, unfortunately, interests me.
For all Amor Towles fans, I just finished his latest book – The Lincoln Highway – and he did not disappoint. Great story, wonderful character development, and lots of NYC shows up which is what I loved about Rules of Civility.
SOTD: Calling All Angels from a never-ending 2ml sample.
The April Aromatics perfumes are potently good!
I need more Calling all Angels. Some of the April Aromatics don’t agree with me somehow, the one called Purple Rain, for Prince, I could basically not smell anything there. Nada, like putting water on my skin.
Haven’t read him before, but I thought about grabbing his new one for Book of the Month (no affiliation!) Maybe next month!
Oh goodie, I have The Lincoln Highway sitting on my nightstand — up next, after I finish The Code of the Woosters (Bertie and the immortal cow creamer).
I never did finish Gentleman in Moscow, although I do feel suitably bad about it. I made it about 2/3 or 3/4 way through, can’t remember now.
I didn’t realize he had a new book out! How exciting.
I went on a vetiver bender over the weekend, and I’m letting it ride. I’m in the cozy Fat Electrician, and I’ll happily get my ELdO on all week!
Nice!
You smell(ed) great today!
Remembered my rabbits this morning. Here’s hoping they bode well for this month.
I’m wearing Avignon today for All Saints Day.
Long day today after a long weekend — interviewing 3 Executive Director candidates for a nonprofit I work with, and then right back into the school applications with tween Ockeghem after school, since today’s the deadline on one and she still needs another round of edits on essays. I am not a fan of the provincial writing curriculum, especially after this weekend. What is it with not teaching kids the basics of language or writing any longer, and just hoping they get there someday by osmosis? (My kid is living proof that it doesn’t work.) And how are they ever supposed to learn foreign languages with more complicated grammar if they don’t even know the basics of English grammar? Grr.
At least it’s still sunny outside for a little bit, before the rain sets in again this afternoon. Heading out for a walk, since it’ll probably be my only chance to leave my desk today. 🙂
Sorry…there was an apology for the rant in there, but apparently the machine edited it out, probably because it read it as code.
The school applications sound hideous.
Yuck, hang in there!
Great perfume pick for All Saints Day.
Wabbit Wabbit! How did November 1! get here so quickly!
Wearing a few spritzes of Shalimar Souffle Intense over the remnants of Reglisse Noire by 1000 Flowers.
Missed Outside Lands, which is normally in August but moved to October 29-31 this year. I lived a few blocks from Golden Gate park and it was fun to see the party goers passing by.
Coffee with coconut MCT/Collagen powder (and a splash of egg nog), breakfast consumed, and getting ready to crack the work laptop open. I think a 9am meeting is rather uncivilized but here we are. Makeup is Chanel Foundation and eye quad in Kaska Beige, lippie is Ellis Faas 101 red, applied as a lip stain.
A few recent 9am meetings have caught me with bedhead and no makeup 5 minutes before and having to scramble to look presentable on Zoom. Totally uncivilized, but I have to say that I’m deeply grateful that the transition to working from home has brought with it a general transition to very gentle, ease-into-it-all mornings!
I was reasonably put together for today’s meeting. It was with several CSU campuses so fortunately, I wasn’t called upon. For the first few minutes, I forgot to mute the Zoom, and busily munching away on pumpkin seeds….
that is a really pretty shadow quad! wow! those colors
L2SG – thanks! It doesn’t look like much in the pan, but once applied, they are amazing. Perfect for simple eye looks, also perfect for a smokey eye.
This is easily my favorite; the golden shade and slight plummy brown bring out the gold in green eyes and hazel in brown eyes. I’m glad I purchased a backup pan before they were discontinued. It’s easily my favorite palette other than Rouge Bunny Rouge Chronos and Chanel Quad Winter Nights is a close third.
??? (No extras today and a good thing that it seems like everyone remembered!)
SOTD = Papillon Anubis
Spicy incense leather – perfect for Dia de los Muertos!
In lieu of a post with a photo of the bottle, here’s one with ????.

In other news, I had no trick or treaters yesterday. I had put out a small tub of chocolate on top of a crate I decorated with JJill tissue. Guess what??? I now have a lot of little chocolate, some of which I will need to bring to the office for occasional nibbling.
I am off to do a Costco run!
Hope that your Costco run was uneventful. Pretty sure that the vehicle traffic at the one close to me was a zoo today.
It was quick although I left a little later than I wanted to!
We’ve had howling winds the past few days, and several of our trees went from delightfully autumnal to barren of leaves in an instant. Commando so far this morning because I can’t decide what I have that’s sufficiently cozy for this chilly Nov 1. Perhaps Baikal Leather — the lovely Vee gets an enabler pin there after sending me a sample, which has now resulted in a purchase of the small bottle … along with a travel sized bottle of La Via Del Profumo Tabac, which was a blind buy (ack) after someone mentioned the new Slumberhouse release last week and I realized my arsenal is sadly lacking in tobacco scents. Hindu Kush also sounded interesting, so I requested a sample of that too. Just when I think I have everything I could possibly want in the way of perfumes, I read something that sends me down the rabbit hole once again. ?
I think you have just sent me down a tobacco rabbit hole, a leather-lined one. Thank you for giving my day purpose!
You are more than welcome — nice to have company down here!
O yay! Enabler pin! 🙂
One of several, just from me. 🙂
I remembered my rabbits! Happy November, all. Still a bit tired after a big night of trick-or-treating, but we had a perfectly timed spell of dry weather yesterday evening and the kids all had a blast. Now it’s mizzlydrizzly with heavier rain on the way, and I’m in Traversée du Bosphore and woolly socks. Getting a CT scan and blood drawn today so trying to take gentle care of myself to offset the unpleasantness.
I hope the tests go well. I used to have to do hour-long MRIs twice a year, and they weren’t my favourite. Glad you’re taking care of yourself, though! 🙂
Glad you had some dry weather yesterday and the kids had fun! Take care of yourself today.
Good luck with your scan and blood tests. I hope they go quickly
Thanks, y’all. Feeling incredibly cross after they left me waiting for my CT scan on a folding chair in the hospital corridor for 45 minutes later than my appointment time, and I left without getting my lab work done because I was too completely out of patience. But, in fragrance news, the CT scan had a smell when each image was taken? I was too grumpy to ask the technician about it, but it was a vaguely bleachy, vaguely burnt smell. I asked the internet about it after I got home, and it seems that the machines produce ozone and that some people can smell it during imaging.
Ugh!
Rant warning:
Wait times like that for medical appointments make me so annoyed. In every other industry where the client goes to the service provider’s place of business for a scheduled appointment, anything longer than a minimal wait time would be unacceptable. Salon appointments, attorney-client meetings, restaurant reservations, accountant meetings — they all start roughly on time. But with doctor’s appointments, we are expected to wait without complaint. I get that sometimes an unexpected issue comes up and a doctor needs to spend extra time with a patient, but if it happens so often that it is the rule and not the exception, then the appointment time slot are not long enough. And I know there are systemic issues like insurance that drive some of this, so it is not entire the doctor/medical practice’s fault, but that doesn’t make it any less frustrating for the patients.
/end rant.
I have the tenderest respect for medical service providers (except for two people who were on duty during most of my labor; Google “eagle throwing goats off cliff” if you’re curious about my feelings towards them), but the *system*, mon dieu! I’ve learned to abandon my humanity at the door and expect that I’m nothing more than a machine getting serviced at a shop.
Yeah, frustrating! I worked for new urologist once and he was so upset by the scheduling because he really had no time with the patient. The partners were telling him he had to “speed it up” which he was really annoyed with. Of course, most MD offices also have to find time to work in urgent patients who are having difficulty, or post-ops that get seen 2-7 post discharge. All those patients have to be worked in on top of the 30-50 patients they see daily. I think you can look to insurance companies which have hijacked the medical profession since the 80’s. They are the ones running medicine these days. ??♀️
If the CT scanner you went to is within a hospital and not freestanding, scheduled appointments get bumped for emergency cases in the ER. Even routine scans for inpatients get bumped. I’m so happy we have the wonder of CT and MRI scanners, though! A huge step in medicine for diagnosing injury and illness! Sorry you had to wait…
Good point — I got grumpy because they sat me down and said, “This will only take 5 minutes tops” and then left me there for most of an hour, but it totally makes sense that emergency cases would have precedence. I’m also super grateful for our amazing medical technology and the equally amazing people who care for us when we’re in need! My mother was an RN, then a CRNA, and ultimately a nurse practitioner so the profession is dear to my heart!
Also, another thing that’s impacted turn around time in cleaning these areas after scanning covid + patients. That really adds to hold up….?
It could be worse. I needed an MRI for my knee once, and they told me it would be 6 months before they could work me in. Then they worked me in after 3 months at a hospital…at 1:45 a.m. on Saturday morning. Waiting even 10 minutes sucks at 1:45 a.m. 🙂
Hoping for the best with your procedures.
I hope everything went smoothly and you’re relaxing at home.
Hope that you have good results from the scan you did manage to get done! How aggravating!
Forgot the rabbits today. Woke up in Lyric and now in no 5 edt. I am really trying to thin out my no 5 collection by using up the partial bottles. Yesterday I threw out 2 drawers worth of ancient make up and have a couple more to go but that’s an after work project.
Your skin will thank you for getting rid of all that old stuff. Also old brushes, even the expensive ones, unless you actually do wash them regularly.
I have never used too many brushes. It was a while bunch of eyeshadows and lip gloss that went bad.
For me mascara is the worst. I just buy cheap stuff and throw it out after a couple months, so I don’t end up with bloodshot raccoon eyes from all the irritation and watering…whatever they put in it to make the molds not grow doesn’t work.
Thanks for the reminders to toss old mascara!
My husband (so weird to call him that) is back at work in person for the first time in 1.5 years, so I’m wearing Zoologist Bee, which he hates. TWO sprays of it, even!
Absence let the Perfumista spray with abandon… make the most of it. (Says me, who has worked 10 feet feet from adorable hubby every day for a year….listening in all his meetings, one on one’s with supervisors, gripe sessions with coworkers, yada yada yada! He’s adorable, but his job is not interesting to me, and now I know soooooo much about it!)
Hehehe. Will you and/or hubby go back to work in person when that becomes a possibility? That’s a lot of extreme proximity!
Woo hoo for saying, “my husband”. Yay for Bee!
How long does it take for saying that to feel normal? (I smell so good!)
I think it might be related to how long the engagement period was — if one becomes really accustomed to the “fiancé” moniker over a long period, it’s just that much harder to switch over to the new word. Mr. G and I were engaged for just under a year, and it took several months for me to get used to the H-word. On the other hand, my mom and stepfather met in February and were married by the end of May that same year, and I think she might have been used to the H-word before the ceremony was over. 😀
😀 ♥
<3 same question to you, when does saying that stop being weird??
Congrats and enjoy!
It definitely takes a while to get used to saying “husband” or “spouse”.
As of WFH, Mr. Jalapeno has been doing it since mid March of 2020. From what I understand, there aren’t any plans for his group to return to the office. ? What makes it tolerable is that he works from the basement, aka his man cave. We don’t really bump into each other that much.
It’s grey and in the 30s so I’m in the ever-wonderful Sacrebleu
Grey and 30s twin lol.
Are you near Denver?
Yes! A little past Golden, in Genesee. 🙂
My screen name is my yahoo address if you’d be interested in getting together in person. Maybe swap or go shopping or whatever
Gosh, wish I still lived there and we could do a meet-up. However, let me know if you (either of you or anyone!) end up visiting Seattle at some point!
Grey and 50, but that’s got nothing to do with the weather ?
You young whippersnapper. 😉
Un Bois by Obvious for me today thanks to freebiemeet samples. I like it a lot, but I AM a sucker for black pepper/vetiver/cedar stuff though. I’d like to smell this on the hubs as well.
Not feeling motivated and saying my rabbits did not help! It’s been cold and foggy for two days and it makes me want to just curl up with a book or binge a good show. Alas, I got up, made the bed, threw on a cute (albeit comfy) outfit and some makeup to try and make myself perkier haha.
Hope the personal sprucing up helped KellyC!
I forgot to rabbit this morning, because I actually slept soundly through the night and didn’t wake until my alarm went off. A small miracle!
It’s very overcast and windy here, not very energizing on a Monday morning, plus I’m pretty tired from trick or treating with my son last night. He had a great time! We noticed a lot more houses with bowls/buckets of candy left out than before Covid. Some of the kids were truly delighted to help themselves generously! At least they said “thank you, house”, which I thought was cute.
I have Shalimar Philtre on one arm and MVP on the other. Can’t stop sniffing myself!
Ooohhh you smell good!
Like Dorsey, I’ll work through ELDO samples this week. First up is True Lust. Applied half of the dabber, liked it, dumped the rest of it on after that. Impatient much?
Nice gingery citrus with something tropical in there. A flash of cumin, but it disappeared.
I need to return a couple of things today and maybe hit the thrift store. We have bona fide 60 degree weather showing up this week! Woo hoo! ?
Yes I really like this idea too! I have mainly samples, but more than I realised so there’s plenty for fun week of testing.
I don’t know about you, but samples multiply like bunnies around here!
Forgot my rabbits, ah well. It’s a delightfully dreary day though, enjoying the rain and fog. Might bake some cookies this afternoon, or declare it to be ‘movie day’ and watch one of those l-o-o-o-n-g TCM movies I’ve had recorded for ages. Will it be Ryan’s Daughter or Judgment at Nuremberg or maybe Quo Vadis…?
SOTD is Armani Prive Ambre Soie, so warm and cozy.
Lock the doors and Watch them all!
Agreed- watch them all! Start one and then start making cookies!
I recently watched Cleopatra. It took 6 nights since I kept falling asleep.
I remembered to rabbit this morning! But then I forgot what I was supposed to do about them? Make a wish?
I wore Anubis last night, which seemed appropriate. The trick or treat haul was good but not the best, and I gave out most, but not quite all the candy I had.
No perfume today, since I had a doctors appointment that specified no perfume! I feel like I’m not completely dressed…
I had a dr appt that specified the same – but not until I got there. Oops.
If you remember to rabbit, you’re supposed to bring yourself good luck for the month, that’s all 🙂
Coco EDP today from a recent version. I bought a decant of this plus a couple other Chanels (Allure EDP and Chance eau Fraiche, both of which I wore regularly at different points in my life) back in March. I realized last night that I’ve not actually worn the Coco decant yet so rectifying that today and smelling lovely.
Oh you are smelling lovely!

For the cat lovers: a Margaret Atwood piece about the cats in her life.
Windy morning here ( again. November is always windy down here) and the weather could go one way or another. Wearing La Pluie (Miller Harris) on one wrist, Sun (Jil Sander) on the other.
Thank you for the article, cats are indeed so companionable to writers; you smell great, I like these two scents, I usually wear Sun on my scarf.
Nice combo ?
Loved the Margaret Atwood article.
Rabbit Rabbit Rabbit!
1) SOTD: Rose by any other name shower gel! Really lovely and has a faint but persistent peppery scent.
2) Perfect and beautiful Halloween weekend – followed by November wind and rain blowing right back in!
Have you started your new job?
The holiday job? No, not yet!
I have a couple of Teams interviews this week for permanent IT day positions- both remote but with benefits!
Super! I wish you the best! You can still get benefits via COBRA but it does tend to get expensive.
Good luck!
Rainy, gray, and cold here. Several plans for today–the toilet pipes are singing so I have to get the air out, it’s laundry day, and I feel like baking cookies. It’s also that time of year when I eat out of the cupboard and the freezer, only supplementing with fresh dairy and vegetables as needed. I find food I’ve forgotten about hidden in both areas. I’m wearing DSH Mata Hari.
Sounds like a glamorous day! Better out than in…
It’s a lovely morning here – yay! I’m wearing an orange and purple dress, so an orange perfume is called for, Alien Eau Luminescente, the orange one with mandarin notes.
I missed that one! I think it’s one of lillyjo’s Perfume Unicorns.
The only ELDO I think I have at the moment is Jasmin et Cigaret, for which I’m not really in the mood. Instead, I’m wearing Ta’if, which is exactly the amazingly beautiful scent I need to be in today.
Jasmin et C is my only fb from ELDO too and I usually save it for wearing to jazz gigs or similar so it has been much neglected of late and I should wear it on Friday night at least! What is it about Ta’if that you like so much? I might be able to try that one soon so would love to know your thoughts!
The Ta-if is just so lush, elegant, and spicy! It’s what I’m always wanting that raft of Montale perfumes to be, with their mix of rose and saffron. It also strikes me as a bit jammy (and I loves me a jammy rose).
Oh this is very good to know, thank you so much for replying. I will definitely try it ?
I have an ELDO Discovery Set somewhere…
I was just thinking about you today?
If you would like some other ELdO samples, let me know. I have a few in the Sample Stash.
Halloween: We had a fair number of trick-or-treaters this year, but I don’t actually keep count. I’m sure we’ve had larger turnouts, but It seemed like a fairly enthusiastic crowd. The 2 bags of candy I found at Target sometime last week more than covered it, and now I have to dispose of about 150 miniature Tootsie Pop Drops and a handful of chocolate.
Saturday night seemed raucous from my location, and I’m in the suburbs. At least 2 adult parties in the neighborhood, and I’m pretty sure a lot more than that. Felt like folks finally felt safe to go a little nuts.
Perfume: Jour d’Hermes, because I was in real need of a positive fragrance, and it hits that checkbox. It’s my olfactory substitution for sunshine.
I noticed that the candy bags at “my” Target were HUGE this year!
Hello everyone. Wearing VC&A First for the first of the month and was toying with doing an attempt at November by numbers (the obvious Chanel candidates of 5, 19 and 22, ooh and 31 rue Cambon to end with-this isn’t a bad idea actually). But the ELDO week is very tempting!
Don’t forget 10 Corso Como and 24, Faubourg 🙂
With Le Dix as competition…
I feel like this idea can grow and grow-thank you!
It’s a really fun idea!
Oh thank you! ?
28 La Pausa, a number of the Le Labo, and maybe some of the repeat numbers as wildcards.
Oh I might have a sample of La Pausa somewhere, excellent, thank you!
Some of the Pierre Guillaumes will work as numbers and also Smell Bent has a couple. Cartier, also, the Les Heures collection. Fun!
I have a couple of PG samples somewhere, off to look up the others now, thank you!
Rabbit x 3. I’m in OJ Woman again. I do have one ELDO and will wear that on Friday.
2 trick-or-treaters last night –more than we’ve had before! But as I live in hope, we always have a bowl of candy ready.
Monday, Monday. Feels a bit gloomy and next week will be gloomier still (darker earlier) after the time change.
Next year, we will have fewer bags of candy. Definitely overbought sweets this time!
Spent the day in Frank Bocket Vanille, a recent acquisition, citrus and vanilla, very natural smelling and probably resembling the overpriced Dulcis in Fundo. This evening it’s vintage Caron Parfum Sacré, I didn’t remember how dense and overwhelming this one is the first couple of hours, but the far drydown is worth it imo.
*Boclet
Ooh I just got a sample of that Boclet in a freebie package, will have to try it soon! Sounds very lovely.
Oh, do try it, it would be great to have your thoughts, a delicious vanilla I find.
Parfum Sacre is a BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIG perfume for sure! But beautifully baroque.
You nailed it with baroque, it’s not very popular here so I’m glad we share admiration for it, it’s my favorite myrrh perfume for sure.
I’m still playing with spices with Initio Side Effect again. Love this one and have a beloved decant from a generous NSTer.
Got up very late so consequently eating breakfast for lunch. I was schedule 6 12 hour nights in a row, and when I saw that, I emailed the manager and told her she’d have to pay for my funeral. It was an “accident” she assured and would fix it right away. Now instead of 6 in a row, I’m working 3 in a row, one off, and 3 more in a row. Wow. Great fix job! ?
Hoping the spinach and cheese omelette perk me up! ?
Yeah, thanks a whole bunch, Ms. Manager!
Well phooey on that schedule!
Wow, those are not fun hours. So sorry Deva!
I’m in a cacophony of four of the free samples that have been piling up on my dresser the past few months. Unfortunately, these all are better suited to the warm weather that was happening when I got them, and not the chill in the air today. Best of the bunch is Parfumes de Rosine Rose d’Ete, which is a dewy garden rose with mimosa and barely-there apple notes, and Eau D’Italie Jardin du Poete, which is an herbal freshie with a good amount of basil. I’m tucking both away for a re-try in warm weather.
Once again Mr Vee & I had zero trick or treaters at our house. One year, a kid will come and be rewarded with handfuls of the full size bars we always have ready as “just in case” Halloween candy, but that year was not this year. I spent the day at my parents’ house, which is in the perfect suburban set up for trick or treating (sidewalks, houses close together and fairly close to the road, not much through-traffic, lots of young families, etc.), and we gave out six Costco sized bags of candy plus a few mini bags of peanut M&Ms from my dad’s personal snack stash! We were dangerously close to running out. We set up a bowl by the street and hung out several feet away on the front steps so we could see the kids and chat with neighbors from a safe distance. Felt much more normal than last year’s Halloween.
That sounds lovely. We ran out of sweets here and had to break into the supply of Christmas chocolates I’d bought as gifts!
I’m impressed that you had the Christmas supply before Halloween!
I figure there were about half the Trick or Treaters last night versus what I saw in 2019. So many of those kids were wonderfully polite! I lost track of how many wished me a “Happy Halloween!”
There was one little kid, maybe 6 yo, who called out “Thank you, happy Halloween, I love you.” It was like when you mindlessly say “bye, love you” to someone on the phone without meaning to. His dad was cracking up. It was really cute.
Oh, that’s adorable!
Quick PSA that the 10 ml Guerlain Santal Pao Rosa that had been claimed in the splitmeet is now newly available. $45 plus s/h. You can contact me by clicking my SN.
I’m in this morning’s lashings of Vetiver Tonka, which I can still smell. I sprayed lavishly before a medical appointment, since I remembered it wearing quietly. Then I arrived to check in and saw the No Perfume sign. It’s the first one I’ve seen here – and I spend a lot of time in doctors’ offices. I figured if the receptionist didn’t reprimand me, I’d be okay.
I forgot it was halloween last night, and apparently my husband and his (visiting) father did too since no one turned on the porch light or dumped the candy we bought into a bowl. We’ll have to finish off the gummy bears on our own.
???! I did it twice today, so if anyone forgot I have an extra set of rabbits that you can have.
Busy today! Both cats have been exceptionally whiny though, so it’s been aggravating. Dunno why. Maybe it’s the phase of the moon? So much leftover Halloween candy, ugh.
SOTD = Bruno Fazzolari Lampblack, from the sample stash. It’s a masculine, very dark vetiver on me. So that’s a swing and a miss for perfume today.
It’s because you started off their day by telling them there’d be rabbits, and now they’re disappointed!
🙂
Neither cat was around when I “rabbited”. Now that I think about it, their feeding schedule got messed up last night due to the Trick or Treaters, and they were probably letting me know it was unacceptable! ??
They were catting ?.
Checking off “be a furry pain” on their To Do Lists!
I actually rabbited this morning! It may be the first time I’ve ever remembered. Wearing Lake from by Rosie Jane today. I’m really not enjoying work so I’m just picking a perfume per week and not investing any thought on work days.
Hope everyone has a great evening.
So sorry you are not enjoying work, sistine!
Wearing a little spritz of ELO’s big bellybutton, as I like to call it…
Ack. It does fit, though.
