It's Monday again! Also, World Tourism Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Diptyque Eau des Sens.
Reminder: 10/1 is International Coffee Day...wear a fragrance with a coffee note.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Happy Monday all! My SOTD is Tiempe Passate by Antonia’s Flowers. Beauty salty amber and rock rose. Lovely and one of my absolute favorites.
Thank you everyone for the well-wishes, my MIL’s surgery went well and she is released from the hospital and resting well at home. š Mr. SmokeyToes was absolutely a mess and is better after they visited yesterday.
I’m bleary-eyed from being up since 3:30am. šÆ Boo-hiss! No fun!
glad all went well, ST.
So good to hear!
I love Tiempe Passate. I managed to get a purse spray before the company folded. I still miss the original Antoniaās Flowers, a lot. You smell divine!
Glad that the medical news is good; hereās to a speedy recovery for you MIL.
Glad to hear all went well, hope you can get a nap!
Glad the surgery went well – and hope you get sleep!
Glad to hear her surgery went well!
Glad everything went well. Taking care of your mother-in-law is very selfless of you.
Glad of your Good news, and hopefully you can get some rest later today.
Glad the surgery went well.
Great news on your MIL. Hope tonight allows for a full, restful sleep
Glad that the surgery went well. I hope you can get some good sleep tonight.
Excellent news about your MIL, SmokeyToes! Thanks for sharing.
Good news on your MILās progress!
I like Tiempe Passate and still have probably half of the bottle left.
Iām glad the surgery went well!
SOTD is 5 sprays of Armani Bois d’ Incense.
Cooler all weekend so this feels right.
Up at 5 for work which actually feels better than SmokeyToes 3:30!
But you both should get more sleep!
agree!!
I’m wearing Voleur de Roses for the first time in quite a while, and for some reason the top notes seem sour to me. It is one of my favorites, but it doesn’t smell as I remembered it.
Not sure where you live, but maybe itās allergies? Itās such a gorgeous day here on the East Coast so of course I am suffering ?
Its a beautiful day to stay inside.?
You smell so good. One of my absolute, all-time favorites. ?
Hope your sniffer grows to love it again.
Off to sleep at 3 am and up at 8.
Grateful not to be working.
Just wanted to give PL67 my love and prayers. Taking care of sick family is bittersweet, as many here know. Hope you got plenty of well deserved rest.
Wow, there is a general lack of sleep around here today!

I can’t find my favorite deodorant anymore – it was Arm & Hammer Essentials – not unscented, citrus, lavender or Juniper – just the first iteration that had a very nice bergamot scent.
So, I heard someone say you could use Crystal unscented deodorant, then apply a scent on top – I like the idea, but my question is – is fragrance as bad as the aluminum I am trying to avoid and so I might as well just use an antiperspirant that I like, or is this a good idea?
Oh no! Mr. SmokeyToes love the A & H Juniper deodorant….
I recently discovered that salicylic acid acne pads work well as an underarm deodorizer. To avoid irritation, I don’t use them every day, perhaps every other day and it works like a charm.
Good tip, thank you smoky toes!
Iāve heard AHA is also good for that.
I already have some AHA, so I think Iāll try that first, thanks LizzieB
I stayed in Canada for a few months and discovered this stuff called Dr Mist. Some kind of mineral water from the dead sea (or some such hokey story.) For some truly bizarre reason this stuff actually works – and I’m someone who previously sometimes turned to prescription level anti-perspirant. I ordered some more off Amazon a while back.
Now thatās kind of fascinating, definitely adding that to my Amazon list
I am wearing Hermessence Santal Massoia and drinking my second cup of Himalayan Green tea.
How’s your new baby?
She is getting so big — currently almost 5 months old and weighs 27 pounds !! She is a sweetheart š
27 pounds of pure love. ?
It’s a beautiful sunny day in NYC and supposed to reach 80 degrees which makes me very happy! I’m continuing to surf The Sample Sea, today’s random pick is Papillon’s Spell 125. Wishing you all a lovely day (or night) ahead!
What do you think of that one, Holly? It seems to be an acquired taste.
I’m enjoying it thus far, but I’m not enamored. Initially I smelled an ambery yet arid incense, then slowly pine emerged, and now 6 hours in ylang ylang is peeking through just a bit. I only have a dabber, and I definitely think this would benefit from being sprayed.
Thank you, Holly. ?
You’re welcome. ?
80 degrees? Over the border, I can’t layer enough! Interested in your thoughts on Spell, too.
Happy day to you, as well!
Thank you, AnniePerfumes!
My thoughts on Spell are above in response to Nancyleandros.
Gotcha.
Does Spell 125 have any resemblance to AG’s Nuit Etoilee or CdG’s Zagorsk? Those both have incense & pine notes (to my nose, at least!).
On my skin, I think it slightly resembles SSS Incense Pure rather than Nuit Etoilee or Zagorsk. I barely get any pine or citrus, and it feels quite dense. Could be my nose and/or dabbing vs spraying. I think that perhaps spraying might give it some space to open up, if that makes sense.
OK, that gives me a decent notion about Spell 125. And I do have that particular SSS perfume.
And yeah, some perfumes need air when applied to open up. Makes perfect sense to me!
Utterly non-CP-compliant in Prada Infusion dāIris, my go-to for days when I need to be under the radar, fragrance -wise. (Today it is softening an otherwise āshe means business and just might steal your Harleyā look, or at least, as close as I can get to it).
I missed the end of last weekās CP (because deadlines). Thursday was Calyx, which I have decided was both Miss Piggy (pink guava, according to The Guide) and Kermit (everything else). And I wrapped up the week as I started, in Cristalle Eau Verte.
I may not have anything with a coffee note. Iāll just drink an extra espresso each day!
I drink an extra espresso every day, so I will join you in that!
Feeling contrarian (and yet I’m here š !) so I’m just saying that I’m in that fabulous old stand by, named after the language of the palace, or to be more accurate named after the language of the municipal fortresses that served as local administrative, religious and military centers for over four hundred years. I wish I could read a very good book about the the man who built the earliest of them, Ngawang Namgyal. If anyone knows of such a book (in English), please let me know!!
Anyway, I smell good.
Library of Congress lists one book, in Tibetan only, English translation of title: “The introductory biography of the hereditary prince incarnation, the first Zhabdrung, Ngawang Namgyel” Looks like a lama ca. 1730 – same person?
That’s the man–but he lived earlier, in the 17th century. But perhaps that is reference to a biography that was written later.?There are, of course, histories of Bhutan in English. I just don’t know much about them. Although, this little journey down history did lead me to one book written in 1995 by Barbara Crossette, whose prior writing for the NYT I know well.
You’re in Dzongkha?
Yes—Sorry for the pretentious journey to say so.
I liked your puzzle but did not have a chance to try to unravel it.
ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø
Oh, I enjoyed having to think about it.
Wearing Coco Mademoiselle edt today and leaving for work. It looks like my friend’s husband abandoned her. This is the one who was begging a few months ago for a place to live. Looks like he left her with no cash or a car. Right now she is staying with friends but will really need to look for a job. Do I feel bad for her? Yes but I am still not in a position to help her.
It sounds like she could use a good divorce lawyer.
(expletive)
This was my best friend at the beginning of the year- and glory be to The Maker that I was in a position to help my friend with shelter and space to cry and get her head together.
Lillyjo is right- she needs a good divorce lawyer and she needs to apply IMMEDIATELY to all and any local resources for displaced homemakers (they can help with retraining, life skills so that good wage jobs can be had) , to apply for SNAP (if in the USA) and emergency housing (depending on the area) .
Great advice. You know your stuff.
It took so many phone calls and a lot of internet research. But help is there.
I know why your best friend loves you!!
Oh shucks ?
Oh no, I feel for your friend, I am so sorry she is experiencing this.
I remember that friend from before, and that’s so awful. I imagine you’re helping her, though, even while maintaining your boundaries — just by being there and being supportive, and doing what you can.
Iām not a coffee drinker anymore, so Iāll wear some tea and coffee fragrances this week. First up is Bulgari au The Bleu. ?
A can’t-go-wrong choice!
I think one could wear this in any season. ?
That’s a lovely choice.
Hello everyone!
I am smelling delicious with the newest member of my perfume family Shalimar MillƩsime Vanilla Planifolia! (One mouthful of a name though)
I really enjoy the smooth vanilla overload here and I donāt find myself missing the sharper citrus from the original Shalimar.
I think I might pick up a back up or two if I am really, really falling for it. Weāll see. š
whaaaaaaaat!
Ero gelosa del tuo profumo!
Tell me more! Do you love it? How is the vanilla? How does it compare to those vanille flankers?
I am really enjoying it!
It smells undeniably of Shalimar but with all the sharp corners rounded and toned down. It is an amber-vanilla with a strong emphasis on the latter.
Vanilla is definitely the star of the show here.
Compared to the beautiful Madagascar I would say it is almost as good but not quite there, but is still a very good flanker.
If you ever get a chance to smell it, do it and then grab it. ?
Ok ok
Thanks for your mini review
How did you snag this?
Yay for vanilla and your review! Looking forward to trying this on too.
I’m sporting Hermes Agar Ebene, which was a blind buy, and which I totally love. I’m not a person who suits oud so I’m glad this smells like wood, and leather. I find my tastes change as I get older-I’ve been wearing things I thought I didn’t like. I hope everyone has a good day at home, at work, at play, or in the hospital, if you’re looking after people.
best regards,
Carole
Congrats on your new bottle! ? Itās always wonderful when blind buys work out.
No coffee perfumes, but did have my daily intake of coffee this morning. Chocolate macadamia nut, freshly ground, with pumpkin spice creamer. I may have a second cup.
Lots of rain here today so we will be zipping around sightseeing in Moby and maybe trying to hit the beach between raindrops so T-Rex can have some runaround time.
No perfume yet. Just canāt decide what to wear, but Iām thinking it will probably be a tobacco forward scent as I love those in cool wet weather for some reason.
A week from today and Iām back in the salt mines. ???? + every crying, disappointed, horrified, reluctant, anti-work emoji known to mankind..!
Pumpkin spice sounds yum.
I was at Aldi today and got Pumpkin Spice Almond Milk creamer and Pumpkin Spice mini bundt cakes!
Sorry you have to go back to work Deva!
Several cups of coffee later…
I walked up to 96th and Madison to a new cafe that opened. My girlfriend and I took one look and kept walking…no tables..no chairs..for me equals no business! hahaha
I am in Rose Prick , pink tulle skirt and black t-shirt
No tables or chairs = not a cafe.
Yeah, that’s basically Starbucks — fast food. We had a Starbucks Reserve near my house recently that was trying to split the difference with the teeniest tables ever. It didn’t last, and the space is now a very nice independent cafe that appears to be doing very well.
Agree! No tables & chairs = not a cafe!
Taking a break from cleaning my house. I have a meeting soon. I’m wearing Carven L’Eau de Toilette. It’s so nice here today, if I close my eyes I can pretend it’s spring.
Glad of your good weather, I bet you smell great too.
Hope that your meeting went well.
And we are wonderful weather twins today! Is rain in your forecast for tommorow? Supposed to get soggy here.
Ack! That should be “tomorrow”. That’s my spelling error and I can’t blame it on the computer.
Ditto what jalapeƱo said!
Lots of rain ā this morning but sunny this afternoon.
Was in Dolce Vita, sadly neglected this summer and tonight I am in Miller-Harris La FumĆ©e Maroc – incense and fruit, that’s been discontinued yer it’s the only La FumĆ©e I ever enjoyed, all the others have cumin.
Boo to cumin!
You feel like me. It’s such a difficult note, it pretty much rules out a fragrance for me
Monday!
A beautiful deeply rainy day- a gentle and persistent rain, with plenty of leaves on the trees that are starting to tinge gold.
SOTD : Fresh Cream, which just felt perfect for today.
A busy and sweaty weekend, though: I finished (for now!) the front strip garden redo- I took out the bulbs, planted a couple of new rose bushes. trimmed the ones that were there, trimmed the shaggy lavender, and mulched everything. Plus gleaning plums, grapes, pears and apples . I made prunes with the plums and let me say I appreciate the bulk fruit bin now more than ever- the energy you need to turn 10lbs of plums into several snack bags of prunes is HUGE.
Fresh Cream is so good. I have a gargantuan bottle of the lotion I will never.?
Kudos to your gardening. A bin, you say?
I really do like Fresh Cream edt- it’s so refreshing and it’s gently persistent. I could never finish a big bottle of the lotion or shower cream for that matter!
Oh I sometimes make my own granola mix, and I get dried fruit from the bulk bin at New Seasons or WINCO. So this year I got to use an older food dehydrator- and it will take WEEKS for me to dry and package plums into prunes. I really do appreciate food processors a lot after these two years; making my own tomato sauce, mustard, dried herb mixes and now dried fruits takes a LOT of energy and effort!
I am hugely impressed that you made your own prunes, though!
I still remember the first time my husband brought up a wheelbarrow of spinach, and we ended up with about 5 meals’ worth after cleaning, cooking and freezing. It *is* more delicious than store bought frozen, but still.
Omg, so much work! And yes, these prunes are amazingly rich, tangy and sweet- and I can compare them to store bought. But you know, still…
Oh my gosh, we were twins today!! I wore some of my Fresh Cream body spray. We smell sweet :).
Oh yes! Sweet and fresh and huggable!
Hey Y’all!
Wearing my 2021 favorite find: Rebecca Minkoff EdP. If I had a signature scent, this would be my current one! Soft suede and tobacco….
You smell great! š I bought the the travel spray of that one and it is well done…will break it out now that the weather is finally cooling a bit.
Oh that is a NICE one- and that would actually be a great signature scent!
Wearing Baikal Leather, on a not-yet-raining day.
It is not yet raining here either, but I think you mean something more rainy š
I’m in Dusita Moonlight in Chiangmai for a warm early Autumn day.
Buddhist-inspired twins (? too much of a stretch? I’m in Dzongkha š )
Hello everyone! Tried a couple of new perfumes this evening at my local department store, where testers are permitted again. Diptyque Kyoto, and FM Synthetic Jungle-surprisingly good pairing, as thereās something quite thin and bright about each of them (at least on first try, on quite a cold night, and yes, I definitely want to try them both again).
So, how did you do it? I wandered into a Cos Bar over the weekend with my husband and wanted to show him a few frags. We were wearing masks, in keeping with California guidelines for indoor public spaces, but we’d pull our masks aside to get a good sniff in each time we tested (on paper) a different perfume. It worked, but it sure wasn’t elegant!
Iāve learned the art of pinching the bottom of my mask and taking a sniff from the bottom.
Ooh, I can’t wait to try Synthetic Jungle! Although it might be awhile since stores that carry it are farther away and I have no immediate plans to venture there. I tried Kyoto and had a lukewarm first response but it has since really grown on me! Have you tried CdG’s Rouge? I’m so curious how the beet note compares.
I havenāt tried the CdG but lukewarm is a good way to describe Kyoto! I do want to try it again though, as I was expecting something much bigger so perhaps my mind got in the way of my nose. And as regards testing, I didnāt actually smell my wrists until I was outside the store and could remove my mask for a minute. I might be a little more cautious than my local restrictions require- the sales assistants donāt have to wear masks anymore (Iām in England) but a lot of people are still being careful. They kept their distance from me so I just received a light spray on my (very) extended wrists!
SOTD = Parfums de Marly Oriana
Yes, the exact same one with the eye-searing hot pink bottle. I got a sample from Nordstrom. I wore my usual 8 sprays and all I could think of was it smells very similar to Kilian Love, donāt be shy Extreme. In fact, other than a slightly fruitier top, it could be a dupe. Why canāt companies come up with something more original? As it stands, even though I liked it, I donāt need a bottle.

In other news, anyone for a wine advent calendar? ?
https://www.instagram.com/p/CUVcsH3JrY9/?utm_medium=copy_link
In more other news, hereās an observation:
– a smartphone can not only put yourself in danger, it may also kill someone you love. I had just turned into a street when I saw a little kid who seemed to be no older than 18 months toddling across a busy road with no adult insight. As it turned out, there was a dolt who was heads down looking in at his smart phone!
In SwapMeet news, please keep the interest coming. There are still plenty of selections across the board!
Thanks for your mini-review…now I can drag my heels trying it. š
You really could!
My jaw hit the floor when I saw your pic of the Advent Wine Calendar. What next? ?
We can be very creative! Tea light advent calendar?
??
On the advent calendar: Like! It would be a hilarious gift for my husband. But I cannot stand shopping at Costco. Only if we are having a very large party can I gird myself.
Can you have it delivered? While the idea is novel, I canāt see myself downing all that alcohol!
Errrr…. I’ll take the fifth on “downing all that alcohol.” The calendar is not posted on Costco’s website, so I am not sure. Maybe later in the season one can order it delivered.
Aldi did both wine and beer advent calendars last year, and one for cheese too! I bought the wine and cheese ones. And kept notes, so I’d remember which ones I liked. It was lots of fun. The bottles were small, which was good!
I tried Oriana as well, it reminded me not only of Kilian but also Profumum Vanitas and Dulcis in Fundo. Not at all original nor is it worth $320. I see people walking around all the time with headphones on and head down in smartphone. Extremely unsafe.
Overcast and drizzling here today…feel really tired and pretty sure I am still asleep..but have been replying to work emails with mixed success. š
Iillyjo mentioned Black Opium Nuit Blanche in yesterday’s thread and lo and behold I found a sample of it today I didn’t know I had. I find it similar to the original but maybe even a bit sweeter if such a thing were possible. š
My rock star sister had her 8th of 12 chemo treatments today and is 66% done!???
Congratulations to your sister! It’s a tough haul, but it’s nearly over!
Well done Sister!
It’s a strange thing – but Black Opium is not that sweet to me. I tried the Intense version and it was a little better. I think I have an atypical reaction to one of the aromachemicals in it as I recently discovered that ambroxan reads as rotting celery to me.
Rotting celery? Ew, ew, ew!
Rockstar be shining! Huzzah to your sister!
YAY to your sister! She’s kicking it!
Great news about your sister!
That would be 66 2/3% ?. Hooray!
Terrific news about your sister!! More than half way through and she’ll be done before you know it.
Go She-ra’s sister!
I started the day in Imaginary Authors “Memoirs of a Trespasser” and I’m finishing it in 4160 Tuesdays “A kiss by the fireside” – a sure sign that the nights are drawing in and the temperatures falling. I still managed to get to the beach and swim, but it was almost deserted. 23Ā°C evidently not enough to tempt the locals on a working Monday. I’m sleeping without aircon this week so it’s a little sweaty at times but it’s nice to have the window open again at night.
I would rather be cold than hot but the fresh air sounded good!
I’m in Tauer L’Oudh today. I was digging through samples last night and realized that I’m not sure I’d ever worn this one, which I got with one of his magazines.
I was digging through the samples hoping I had a leather scent, as it just caught my fancy last night. I know I used to, but apparently no longer. That’s a hole in my collection (one of many). Any good recent leathers I should try? Or classics I may have missed?
Have you tried Dior’s Diorling? Hard to find and/or sample, but a great leather scent.
No! I will see if I can find it. Thanks!
Lots of good leather scents: Mona di Orio Cuir, Serge Lutens Cuir Mauresque, Tom Ford Ombre Leather, Bottega Veneta, Parfum dāEmpire Cuir Ottoman, Naomi Goodsir Cuir Velours, Armani Prive Cuir Noir.
LPRN Black Perfecto EdP. A little too sweet for me todayā¦I usually like this one.
Iām not in the not-enough-sleep club, because I slept late this morning. But I struggled mightily to fall asleep last night. Stayed up to watch football (Go Pack Go) and post-game interviews, etc. Just wasnāt tired until I finally fell asleep sometime after 1 am.
Outdoor breakfast followed and visit to the park. Stumbled upon NST chairs! (3rd photo)
https://www.instagram.com/p/CUVzZ5_gO-n/?utm_medium=copy_link
How funny!!
I thought youād like that. ??
Another day, another load of laundry done. I joked with my brother that I’ve finally started doing *this* month’s wash. I honestly wonder how people who travel a lot get it done in a timely manner. ???
Passed up a decent perfume deal this weekend at Nordie’s. I realized that now is not a good time mentally for me to be buying a new bottle, even if it is something that has been on my Full Bottle Wish List for a while. I’m just not in the right headspace. Does this make any sense?
SOTD = back to Wrappings today.
Makes sense to me. You won’t be able to ever enjoy it if you’re not in the right head space. That’s no deal then.
OK. I don’t feel like such a weirdo now. Thank you!
I agree with lillyjo. Perfumes should spark joy and good memories.
Appreciate the input, Gail!
Totally makes sense. We don’t buy perfume as a commodity–we buy it as escape, as a journey, as a treat, as medicine. Got to be in the right headspace!
Thanks OF!
I was tempted with 15% off but I held back! Weāre holding back twins!
That was the exact deal I saw! Glad to see I am not doing this solo.
Is Nordies price matching Saks? I know Saks has 15% off this week.
Reposting…
My daughter talked me into dyeing her hair blue. We picked out a turquoise color from the brand Arctic Fox. It’s semi- permanent. Everything was fine until she had to rinse. When I went to get her out, my whole shower was blue! It looked like someone murdered a smurf! So then I had to get in the shower with 2 sponges and scrub like crazy. I got all I could. I got out and sprayed some stain remover bathroom stuff and will be scrubbing again in a minute.
Then I guess I will try bleach?
Sigh….
Sote is original Juicy Couture.
Oh, lillyjo: *sigh.* Perhaps some Bon Ami would help, and I think it’s so mild it would not set any stain if it did not help???? Anyway you smell wonderful – I was surprised how much I like JC when I finally smelled it!
You reminded me that I had some good Ole Comet. It seems to be helping, but I will have to resume scrubbing tomorrow.
I’ve had good luck with oxiclean (made into a paste with water). Had to use it on turmeric stains on my countertop. I’ve also had good luck with Vim creme removing stains. I’m kind of a lazy cleaner, just apply it to the stain and let it sit for a few hours. It may take a few rounds but usually works pretty good.
I’m totally a lazy cleaner too. I love products that say no scrubbing!
Iām sorry about your shower, Lillyjo, but Iām laughing out loud at ā it looked like someone murdered a smurfā. Canāt get the image out of my head ?
I laughed until I saw it wasn’t coming out!?
Time to reread “The Cat in the Hat Comes Back”? I used to get so agitated when that book was read to me. If only he hadn’t taken a bath and left that big pink stain . . . (or blue?) . . . You get a big golden medal from me though for helping your daughter dye her hair blue. I love that!
Thanks for the medal!
Sorry, but I had to laugh at “someone murdered a Smurf!”
Unfortunately, the best thing I can think of for a stain like that is sold at Home Depot (possibly Amazon too) and is called “Barkeepers Friend”. It cleans up my grimy bathrooms so well.
I will check it out!
Be careful with it and follow instructions, though. It’s got some heavy duty stuff in it!
Oh boy, what did the instructions say as I imagine the at home dye kits are for people who donāt have a professional sink!
The only thing is says is about putting Vaseline around your hair line to prevent skin staining. I’ve colored my own hair a thousand times and have never had a problem. I should have rinsed it for her.
Oh dear, sounds as if you got way to much cleaning for one day.
I’m good for a month I think!
I am really glad I read this, I just bought a bottle of Arctic Fox purple to do my own hair but was concerned about the mess it might make. I will use the utility sink in the basement!
Well if I saved one tub it was worth it!?
Oh, the color turned out great on her head! I bet you will look fabulous!
I have some coffee scented loves waiting in the wings for the CP, but today went in a different direction. Post shower SotD is DVF Diane. It made me think of a six degrees of separation type of game: it seems to be in the same family as Kenzo Flower, Narciso, Cruel Gardenia, and, oddly, Insolence. Maybe they are all dry and/or have some kind of shower-fresh quality? My greatest loves are all heavy, louche scents, but all these are ones I enjoy wearing from time to time. Does anyone else have a different take, especially on Flower? It has a presence, but not like EL Knowing or Estee for example.
There is something about Kenzo Flower that strongly reminds me of J&J baby oil! I haven’t come across any other perfume having that effect on me.
I have never even sniffed Kenzo flower but that makes me want to!
Wore Lush Ginger. It reminds me of something I’ve smelled in my childhood but can’t place it!
We finally got a decent amount of rain overnight; it’s been a lovely cool day.
I really liked the shower gel version of Ginger, even though it had a ton of glitter in it and was almost Day-Glo red in color.
I also used the shower gel today, brought it out of my “storage” area for the fall and winter. It’s really crazy red!
Yay for a nice cool day! I think we will have some later this week, today was kinda warm.
I was ready for a cool day; I usually love the warmth and sun but this summer was too much!
I’m way late commenting! Today was my first day out of training and so busy. SOTD is Slow Explosions again. At least I smelled good while I was busy!
SOTD is Immortelle Corse (Parfum d’Empire) sample, from a generous NSTer. It’s really held my interest all day! I cannot identify many of the notes and it makes me realize perhaps I don’t know what immortelle smells like. It’s always been described to me like maple syrup and I thought I smelled it in Le Participe Passe before, yet looking it up now Le PP does not actually list immortelle as a note! Immortelle Corse is slightly bitter, slightly sweet, and dry like dusty hay. The drydown has this great aura like sandalwood, eventhough it doesn’t contain sandalwood. It’s been awhile since I’ve been so intrigued by a scent.
I definitely get a maple syrup vibe from immortelle. But it’s not just maple syrup by itself. There is also something tonka-ish to it.
Immortelle smells like sun-baked summer skin to me. It has a herbaceous hay-like undertone with some muskiness, which is why I think it smells like warm skin to me. Atelier Cologne Blanche Immortelle is another favorite immortelle scent.
Cabochard! The latest version.
You smell great!
Mechant Loup for a nice fall day today.
I loooove my coffee but may have to look hard to find something with a coffee note for Friday.
Late to the party but I wore Stoned by Solange Azagury-Partridge.
