It's Tuesday, the International Day of Peace, World Gratitude Day, and Leonard Cohen's birthday. You have a whole week left to make your deal in the swapmeet. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm wearing Chopard Néroli à la Cardamome du Guatemala. Tea at the moment is a blend of 2/3 Dikom Estate Assam from Upton and 1/3 Rishi Chocolate Chai.
Reminder: 9/24 is the birth date of Jim Henson and F. Scott Fitzgerald. Wear whatever fits for whatever reason — scent a muppet or a Fitzgerald character, maybe?
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: top image is Robert Redford, standing in front of the tea urn in the 1974 movie version of F. Scott Fitzgerald's 1925 novel The Great Gatsby.
early again from the west coast.
I think I will reach behind the front row and get my bell jar of Fumerie Turque out. Uncle Serge is never top of mind these days, so when I pull out a bell jar, I am entranced all over again.
Robert Redford -here’s looking at you!
Hello from the east coast
hello!
Ever since SL pulled his fragrances from the US market, I’m hearing a lot about him these days.
You smell fab!
Thank you!
Hello Robert Redford…swoon!
I am having a Shalimar week-today I did a few sprays of my vintage cologne and a few dabs of the parfum
I have Shalimar on my mind since Robin posted about the new flanker. Thank you Robin!
Today I am in a typical NYC outfit..all black..
Well, of course you smell fabulous 🙂
Thank you! I would say the parfum is in its middle stages now and the smell is glorious.
Ohhhhh, you smell marvelous! Vintage Shalimar is glorious stuff.
SF’s uniform is all-black as well.
Today’s gym outfit has me looking like the Easter Bunny, bright coral pink top paired with green workout pants.
Sounds like a great outfit to work out in
Maybe Robert Redford will occupy the Shalimar space in your mind for a bit and give you a break 😉
hehehe
Continuing the summer-into-fall fruities theme in Philosykos today. Not really a Henson or a Fitzgerald scent…
You smell great!
Wearing Black Cashmere and swooning over how much I love it. The weather is going to be downright chilly the next couple of days, I can hardly wait to wear a new sweatshirt and break out Memoirs of a Trespasser.
Black Cashmere is totally swoonful.
so lucky. Enjoy your wonderful smelling self, ringthing!
Wearing Arielle Shoshana Saturday and having a cup of lavender blueberry almond milk with a toasted croissant.
Hope the day goes fast!
Happy Tuesday! ?
Good luck, hope it speeds by for you!
Thank you, Robin!
Where on earth do you get your delicious foods?
I live on prepackaged goods most of the day, you are so impressive.
LOL! There is lots of variety in the city! The lavender blueberry almond milk is just from Trader Joe’s, so nothing fancy, but very smooth and tasty.
Trader Joe’s? When you could have Stop and Shop? ?
Well, Stop and Shop in my area also for regular items, which are the majority! ?
Okay, that milk is officially on my TJ grocery list. Thanks!
I also got the pumpkin spice oat milk, which I like even more than the lavender blueberry almond milk. They are both light and not so sweet.
Wearing the very last drops of my old decant of CSP Vanille Framboise. I wish they’d resurrect a lot of the old discontinued scents, including this one: they were wonderful. A set of all the vanilla/fruit scents in half-ounce sprays (citrus, orange, pineapple, cherry), a set of all the vanilla/florals (rose, jasmine, tiaré, freesia), a set of foody things like Pain d’Epices, Vanille Café, Vanille Amande, Matin Calin…. I can dream.
I wouldn’t mind seeing Matin Calin come back…….
I’m wearing Safran Troublant, anticipating the arrival of fall by one day. We are actually supposed to have a fall-like day tomorrow, with highs in the low 80s and lows in the high 50s. I am so looking forward to it. Of course next week it will be right back up into the 90s, with high heat indices.
Good pick for autumn
Oh, I need to do that tomorrow, when we are promised that the fall cool front will come through!
Morning all 🙂 My SOTD is L’ Eau Trois by Diptyque, in the mood for herbs, incense, and resins.
Enjoyed a lovely walk and dinner out yesterday with the hubby. Headed to the gym today, see everyone later! 🙂
I’ve been so interested in trying L’Eau Trois, but the only store in Atlanta that has it is the Diptyque boutique downtown. Haven’t found my way down there yet….
Do try it if you can! It’s similar to Fille en Aiguilles by Serge Lutens without the dried fruit note.
You smell fabulous! I love L’Eau Trois – reminds me of being in a wine cave or cathedral in Paris. Great for this time of year too.
Thank you! It is gorgeous in the heat. I don’t wear it often enough. Perhaps when the weather cools. 🙂
Hello everyone! ?
Wfh today, so after ages of going commando I’m reeking havoc in multiple samples.
Parfum d’Empire’S Mal-Aimé. It is.
Dusita’s Anamcara: I was concerned about the tuberose note, but on my skin I’m getting canned pineapple juice circa 1960.
BDK’s Velvet Tonka: kinda Play-doh?
Grandiflora Madagascan Jasmine: cinnamon bubble gum plus jasmine.
It’s always fun to smell new things, and these days I’m really happy with whatever the outcome is! Hope you are all doing well and finding some opportunities to enjoy lighthearted moments and some semblance of serenity as you go about your days.
What-up, Holly❣️
If you are not horrified by bubblegum and jasmine, I suggest trying Alien Goddess ?.
We’ll see how many sashes you have this year, alone.☺
I sniffed that on paper in an ad in the new Vogue and found it strangely appealing!
Hi honey❣️
Bubble gum and jasmine was fun! Alien Goddess, you say? May I suggest you give Al Ghroob another chance? ?
I’m eagerly awaiting my sample of Anamcara. Velvet Tonka is on the nightstand at the ready along with Mal-Aimé. Sooo many samples piled there.
New samples are always exciting.
Ohh I need a report of Anamcara!
I have tried Velvet Tonka, and I liked it. Almond tobacco (maybe a bit too much tobacco for me to wear it but has an addictive side). Reminded me of childhood, and my grandfather.
Can’t wait to read your thoughts about them!
Hello there Holly! So good to see you posting! ??
Hiya buddy! Thank you for your sweet reply❣️?
With a serious nod to health today, I made French Toast using whole grain bread and Egg Beaters. Was quite proud of myself, but then had to drown it in Mrs. Butterworths, so zero points for me.
I’m in PdN Vetyver this morning. It’s cool and misty, although it’s supposed get to 82F today. Just thinking about that temperature at this time of year in this location makes me a bit ill tempered. ?
After today, I’m off to the coast, and it looks as if I’ll see some stunning sunshine over the next couple days! Looking forward to that and trying not to be too snarly today for my afternoon appointments.
I gave up on looking for cozy mysteries to listen to. Listening to audible has been my “sleeping pill” for years. I can’t seem to find anything that fits me like baby bear’s bed fit Goldilocks. So, I’ve gone back light years and am listening to PD James, whose books I started reading when I was a young whippersnapper. They are lacking gore, have very intricate plot lines, and although a bit dates in some respects, I still enjoy the writing. Not really a “cozy” either but they work well for me. If anyone has any recommendations, I’m all ears.
Stay well!
Oh, but French toast! YUM! I could easily go overboard with carbs…
Well, you wouldn’t want to do that! ?
I love PD James and for all those reasons that you listed. Hope the appointments go well.
Thanks!
I enjoyed The Stranger Diaries via Audible.
I’ll check it out, thank you!
Pain perdu!
I am a snob and top mine with either butter & honey or maple syrup & yogurt!
Well, I’m part snob because I DO prefer maple syrup to Mrs. Butterworths but there was none to be had last time I went looking for syrup. So I guess we can be Syrup Snobs together!
Local store sells only handmade maple syrups (probably using wrong word here). And honeys in every flavor imaginable.
Not to mention the second part of the store with homemade pasta and olive oils. ?
?
I put ? , cinnamon and Splenda in my yogurt and cool whip on top, because I need to sugar it up to taste edible.
Defeats the purpose, I guess.☺
LOL!
More like a yogurt sundae- but if you enjoy, you enjoy!
I don’t enjoy, lol! Minus the cool whip, natch.
I do love maple syrup. YUM!
I mixed honey with maple syrup and a dash of vanilla, it was stellar! Although, I had a twitch from all the sugar, it was well worth it.
Not happy with warm weather? I must be the only one longing for more summer.
I use boring lectures on youtube as my sleeping pill. 🙂
I assume you’ve read the grand-lady of them all, Dorothy Sayers? For the first several books, perhaps as many as four, Elizabeth George was truly excellent, but then they went way downhill. Have you tried Louise Penny, the Canadian writer? Those are generally very good, though I think they went through kind of a bad spell for awhile recently. The latest one is excellent though. I really love the South African mystery writer Deon Meyer. They are somewhat political but not in a way that takes over the stories, which are always gripping, and I happen to love mysteries set in countries that are new to me. Peter Temple for the same reason in Australia–the Jack Irish series is quite good, and I’ve recently also enjoyed the movie and tv series based on them, starring Guy Pearce. They’re sharp and witty–they remind me of Ian Rankin, whom you may also know. Denise Mina is also good–another Scottish mystery author. I’m not sure who if any among these authors will feature on audiobook versions, though.
Are you referring to Ken Bruen, whose books feature Jack Taylor, a Guarda that got terminated due drinking (in Ireland?!) and now does his own detecting when he’s not in the bar? Ken Bruen is a very dark writer, (he is the definition of “noir”) one of the reasons I love him, but I’m not sure if this is the same series you’re speaking of. I did see some of the initial series but I don’t think they did the books justice. When I first read “The Guards” I was blown away by his writing style. Loved most of the succeeding books, but I feel like they became more… I don’t know, maybe unrealistic? Something changed for me in his later books. He has a couple other series I highly recommend, too. Now that I reread your comment, I think I’m talking about a totally different author/series…never mind!
I really enjoyed Louise Penny for a while, then got so turned off by her later books, I stopped reading them all together. I feel like she writes for children, saying the same thing 10 times in 10 different ways. So much of the books (to me) are ridiculously wordy, like a college kid trying to meet his word count for a term paper or something. And I tried the other series that’s popular here, by Elly Griffith, I think. I liked the first one or two and then kept thinking the protagonist was getting weaker and weaker (and really, just not very bright) and more unbelievable. I liked the detective guy (forget his name) better than the primary character.
I think I’ve read a couple by George, but will look through my audible library. And Sayers? Is she the one that has cats involved in all her stories/titles? I may be thinking of someone else, but I’ll check her out. Also Denise Mina and Deon Meyer. Thanks so much for your input!
No, Dorothy Sayers is the one with the Oxford-educated brilliant woman who gets into a romance with Lord Peter Wimsey. It’s the archetype for the whole trope of the aristocratic detective. I haven’t read Ken Bruen, nor have I heard of him. I agree that Louise Penny went downhill for awhile, and became too highly self-referential. Have you gotten into any of the Nordic noir writers? I have a slew of them to recommend!
Bogue Mem today. Can’t think of a good muppet for this, and haven’t read Fitzgerald since high school, so I wouldn’t say I’m CP-compliant. But it’s probably more a Fitzgerald scent than a muppet scent.
I wish I’d seen before I put it on that it’s Leonard Cohen’s birthday. I would have put on some Ancient Resins. 🙂 I’ll just play his music instead.
I will do Ancient Resins at bed time 🙂
I’ve tried everything. Cozies generally work for me because they strike a perfect balance of interesting but not too neurologically stimulating. I’m afraid lectures would drive me crazy with boredom, which can be just as bad as over stimulating, cliffhanger, fast paced who dunnits…It’s a fine line.
I did the same thing — Ancient Resins in the evening!
🙂
Robin, that’s a super clever photo for Teapot Tuesday! And swoon… Gatsby Redford…
Escentric 2 today. Smelling good amongst the chaos!
Redford was such a crush of mine while growing up. The Way We Were, The Sting, Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid, etc, etc.
My sister wanted to get a poster from Three Days of the Condor.
He was darned good looking. I’m sure it is my advanced age but Leonardo DiCaprio seems a poor substitute.
I was always more of a Paul Newman fan myself, as far as looks, but it’s hard to top Robert Redford in a three-piece white suit!
I’m always shocked that DiCaprio is actually two years older than me. He just seems so young.
I’m in Shalimar Souffle Intense, mostly for the bottle—definitely a Fitzgerald vibe. I wore a few drops of Shalimar parfum last night, and it was just perfect.
I have a sample of FM Synthetic Jungle coming my way today. Can’t wait to try it!
Lots of Shalimar on todays thread
We’re a good-smelling group! And I meant to say to your comment yesterday that clothes and books are VERY interesting! ?
I tried it a few days ago. Being a green scent lover I think it’s gorgeous! It does manage to maintain the initial “snap” of green notes for a while – not easy, they are usually so fleeting in that genre of scents. The dry down becomes more floral/hyacinth but still very fresh. It definitely comes across that CHANEl 19 inspired it, I’m not familiar with EL Private Collection so can’t comment there. I was impressed with its longevity – could still smell it the next day. If you like Cristalle, #19, Bel Respiro, and MMM Untitled I think you’ll love this.
Thanks for the review! I tried it last night and was bowled over by the greenness. Lots of hyacinth and Lily of the valley came through. Looking forward to trying it for a whole day!
Good morning Y’all!
Still trying to get back into the habit of posting my SOTD! I’m very routine oriented…..lol
Wearing Guerlain L’Instant Magic and getting the almondy/baby powder thing going. Good stuff!
Hello! I was just thinking about you yesterday. Good to see you and hope all are well!
Doing well! Life is ALMOST back to a normal routine! LOL Now that fall is here, I’m much more excited about scents again too. The heat and humidity here is sometimes just too much for a lot of perfume…..
Hope you are well too, and T-Rex!
Thank you, and happy to hear all is good with you and yours. ??Sending cool breezes your way! ?
Almond and powder sure works for me!
I’m wearing 1000 Flowers Reglisse Noire and thoroughly enjoying its peppery, minty licorice vibes. I think it works for all those birthdays of super creative folks – Cohen, Henson and Fitzgerald. Why not?
Also, having one of my favorite breakfasts: hot Grape-nuts with PB, honey and raisins. (I just heat it with a little extra milk for about 40 seconds in the microwave. It’s not actually hot, just warm and softens the Grape-nuts from gravel to the perfect crunch). And drinking Yogi Honey Chai Turmeric-Vitality. This oughta get me ready for the day!
Warm Grape Nuts for breakfast is seriously underrated! YUM!
That sounds really good.
I ate Grape-Nuts for breakfast too, with strawberries and blueberries on top. I’ve never heard of heating them up before! Now I must try that soon!
I would not have minded scenting Robert lol. Scenting a muppet? Mrs P probably would have worn Chanel. Which one? Hmm.
In Serge Noire..after that savory note settles, it’s good imo. Not for everyone lol. Definitely a scent where ya gotta wait for it. But that dry down though:).
You smell wonderful – I like SN from beginning to end!
I’m in Thé Pour un Été in honor of the last day of summer — and hey, I’m Teapot Tuesday compliant! One of those weird, late-season days where the temperature is going to swing 50 degrees between morning and afternoon, so I’m enjoying having the windows open while I can.
For the past week, I’ve been obsessively tracking infrared data and daily operational briefings as the KNP complex chews its way across the exact piece of landscape I’m most intimate with in the entire world. Hard to put all the feelings into words so I’ll just say that it’s been heartwrenching and anxiety-fanning. Beaming all my love to the southern Sierra, for whatever good it might do.
Joining you in beaming love to the southern Sierra! For me, it was the the devastation in Lassen that really got to me last month.
Beaming almost all my love to the Sierra too, but sending a bit of it your way, Isabella. The damage must be particularly difficult and frustrating for you to watch given your connection to the land.
It’s crazy. We used to let lighting ignitions burn in some of that area and they’d nose around, growing by 1/2 acre a day, barely making a footprint for themselves by 2 months later. So to see fire run across tens of thousands of acres in a few days is mind-boggling. Thankfully, it looks like all our hard work in the Giant Forest has really paid off!
We visited friends in Maryland this weekend and I’m currently hanging out in my brother’s DC apartment. I slept late this morning so my timing didn’t work out for going perfume shopping today since my husband and I are going to go get Ethiopian food for lunch then go to the airport. I did, however, get to see a pretty good Hokusai exhibit at the Freer yesterday. Scent of the last few days has been Ta’if
The Freer is one of my favorite museums in the world 🙂
Wearing no 5 Eau Premiere today. One of my dogs ate a bunch of acorns yesterday and not feeling too good today. Let my folks know if she gets worse, take her to the vet. It looks like her stomach is upset but who knows what else she was snacking on when she was outside.
Argh, pups are so into nibbling on something they should not!
You smell amazing, of course.
Your dog must be related to mine- she’s like a Hoover vacuum. Hope doggo is okay and you don’t end up having to take her to the vet…???
Mine has been doing the same thing! I actually raked the yard yesterday (barely a leaf) for her. Only to discover, raking does practically nothing.
I think the lack of squirrels, had dumped a boatload of these.
The mushroom farm that is my yard since Ida is also toxic.
I am calling the vet today. As I hand pick the acorns off the lawn.
Mushroom farm yard twin! Every year about this time we get so many weird ‘shrooms!
Sorry! Can we be scent twins?
Happy birthday Leonard! I’ll put on the ring I bought at one of his concerts (he was fabulous.). I wore it over the weekend and got comments from a couple of people, which has never happened before.
Samsara today, since it’s a chilly day ushering in Fall. Yesterday was overcast and rainy but quite warm. A few leaves are turning color in the woods outside our living room. Too soon, too soon.
Slept in this morning. First day in over a week with no guests. Had a wonderful time with my friend, who was followed by a couple who stayed a few days. All great fun, but it can be tiring being tour guide. My friend and I went to a couple of art galleries…she bought a beautiful painting of a white birch tree that was done on brushed aluminum. Just gorgeous.
Being a host is TIRING. I have no idea how people who do Airbnb do it.
My uncle started a touring business, in the fall of 2019. Bad timing, but he would have been amazing.
Speaking of LC, for those who love his music and like movies, I recommend “McCabe and Mrs. Miller.” His music is perfect in it.
It’s going to reach the low-90s today, but I had to wear Shalimar, I was just craving it. EDT, non-vintage, but still so so good.
Shalimar launched the same year The Great Gatsby was published, so I’m claiming a CP point!
hey twin!
We smell wonderful. In old and new Shalimar!
Tuesday!
1) Am still a bit dizzy from migraines yesterday! But I am back at work! Exercise will be walking and stretching to get back to my usual self ( and balance)
2) SOTD : Beauty Pie’s Love, which is extremely ephermal; smells truly beautiful with a rhubarb/muguet/amber-sandalwood scent, but becomes a skin scent in about 15-20 minutes. Really best when layered with a plain skin oil and/or sprayed on clothes.
3) To Robin: No- scents don’t set off migraines for me. Now, strong, unpleasant smells will turn my stomach- uncared for, unwashed human bodies, skunks, rotten anything- but perfumes generally don’t bother me as long as there is fresh moving air.
Glad you are feeling closer to normal! And that is lucky, I think many people have trouble with perfume during a migraine.
I can see that- perfume can overstimulate the senses, I think.
Testing Ex Nihilo Explicite today. It’s well blended, so it is difficult for me to pick out individual notes. Praline-heavy, likely amped up by the vanilla; sweet but not a gourmand. The amber warms it up. The floral notes are supporting only, not dominant. Overall it is rich without being heavy. I don’t love how it smells when I sniff my arm up close – the sweetness is a bit sharp at that range, but when I put my arm down and just breathe in deeply, I love it, which is actually remining me to stop slouching and sit up. Maybe I can try to expense it as an ergonomic device. 🙂
Drinking F&M Christmas black tea, my favorite. They finally had it back in stock, so I ordered a few BUBs (BU tins, I guess), and am drinking it with abandon.
Mr. Vee recently told me that he had never heard the Leonard Cohen version of Hallelujah, only the Jeff Buckley cover. How have I been with this dude for 20+ years and he has NEVER heard the LC version? I must have listened to it at least 50x in that time span. Seesh!
So many people aren’t aware of LC’s version, which surpasses every other version. My husband and I still laugh over the Canada Olympics from some years back. Bob Costas (?) introduced k.d. lang to sing it at one of the ceremonies. She was great, but Bob referred to it as “a song of peace”, which we found a hilariously strange description. Had he listened to it?
And there is more than one LC version 🙂
Hah! Perfume as a posture-correcting device! ?
In honor of LC I listened to “Joan of Arc” this morning, such evocative imagery in his lyrics. I’m wearing Carolina Herrera, the first fragrance she did, a civet-laden tuberose that I adore. I am thinking about getting some samples, it’s been ages since I smelled anything new. Chipmunk for sure, and maybe some Dusita? I am so behind in releases.
Chipmunk is lovely, looking forward to trying the upcoming Dusita. The whole line is interesting.
You smell wonderful – CH is another of my found-a-bottle-with-a-sample-left thrift store find. Won’t chase it, but so glad I got to meet it.
I’m kicking myself for forgetting about last week’s community project because I was going to wear Lonestar memories for Pancho and Lefty, which I think would have been a good choice. I’m definitely doing something Gatsby related this Friday, as it’s one of my favorite books.
Which film version of the book do you all prefer. I love the Baz Lurhmann version. He really understood how heightened and melodramatic the tone of the story is.
Pancho and Lefty! Perfect pairing!
I followed along and didn’t post daily. Could do that cp forever!
Baz did a fabulous job with his film version of that book! I think he must have read This Side of Paradise too – the afternoon in New York scene seems related to both books.
Listening to Everybody Knows and wearing Encens Mythique since I have no Ancient Resins. I also have a Leonard Cohen tshirt from Montreal. 🙂
Very interested in EM. So happy that you can wear the tee in Cali.
Good pairing!
That song always makes me think of Atom Egoyan’s “Exotica”, one of his early films.
You smell wonderful, and my empty sample of Ancient Resins is upside down and maybe tomorrow there will be just a smidge.
Love that song.
I have a smidge of Ancient Resins that I should pull out and enjoy.
SOTD = Kilian Love, don’t be shy Extreme
Robert Redford ???
No pics today as I decided my SOTD this morning. I did post a pic of what can be any corner in midtown today and as I am typing this, there are all sorts of noises coming from the street.

In other news, this is the 2nd of my rant. I have to make it short or I will get in trouble.
Whole Foods / Seafood Department – There was no one behind the counter but there was a family of 3 and me. A good 3 minutes went by and a guy with a clipboard who was fiddling around with the prepared seafood turned from what he was doing to let us know that someone will be out shortly, then he went to the back. He came back out 3 minutes later and proceeded back to the prepared seafood section. After a minute, I asked him if someone was coming out and he looked at me like I just asked him a foul question. He finally decided to “help”. The other family was there first and they couldn’t decide which whole fish they wanted, so 4 were weighed (2 of each type) and he set them aside because the family was still discussing. He asked me what I wanted and I pointed to a specific swordfish cut, which he then proceeded to weigh on the same paper that he weighed the whole fish! I told him, no, I don’t want it anymore because it’s contaminated. He rolled his eyeballs and started to argue. I just cut him off and said I’ll be back when someone else could help me. He probably realized he was in a world of trouble and apologized. I finally got what I wanted and went on my way.
Was I being too picky with insisting that the paper be changed when my fish was weighed? I didn’t think so. Also, I KNOW he was reluctant to help initially because of racial discrimination but I have no way to prove it other than his “subtle” (really not so) actions. I could have reported him to Customer Service but I was in a hurry to go somewhere else. I will observe the next time I’m there and if there is a whiff of what I witnessed, I will immediately go to Customer Service and demand they do something right away.
You really dig that Extreme? Go you!
I would be grossed out by the paper. Lazy. Is the racial discrimination the part you think might get you into trouble? I’ll shut up, then.
I will add the Extreme is worth sniffing out! Its become a favorite of mine as well
?
The Extreme is extremely wonderful. I had to dial back to 5 sprays since I went to the office.
Yes on the racial discrimination angle. Who would have thought…?
Won’t get us in trouble, but I’m really sorry you experienced this.
Good on you for being strong enough to speak up for yourself.
Thank you.
And if you hate Love? Love Extreme must be Extreme hate??
LOL!
I hate that you had a bad experience at the fish counter! We get fish almost every week for Sunday dinner – and I have blinked and zipped my lips at how raw fish is handled sometimes when maybe I should have said something. Also, I have been some sort of CSR for decades and you *do not* “check stock” when people are waiting to be served even if it’s not your job or turn and that’s all I’ll say, too; except your chonk tabby looks very much like my new tabby kitten and I love tabbies now. We always had jazzy-looking torties and callies and a lovely black cat, but now I am on team tabby!
I’ve learned to stand up for myself because if I don’t, who will?
As to the chonks, they were neighborhood cats and I am happy not because they had a lot to eat but they did not become roadkill!
You smell fabulous! I love Extreme too. As for the Whole Foods interaction, he was completely in the wrong and that was appalling customer service.
Thank you. It was really bad customer service.
That was atrocious customer service! And yes, I would have asked for new paper to weigh out my fish. That’s bad hygiene there, reusing the same piece.
I bet he put that piece back in again for the next customer! I should be thankful he changed his gloves!
Tuesday is my first in-office day of the week and it feels like a Monday. Thus, I forgot my perfume and have been using the body souffle in the Cloud gift set I bought at a stonking bargain.
I love a bargain and a scented moisturizer – IMHO most perfumes smell great in a cream or lotion…
I’m in Eau Premiere. I was actually in the mood for Lea and reached for that this morning. I grabbed it by the cap (I know?so dumb) and it slipped off and hit the floor. Luckily the bottle didn’t break but now that sprayer won’t work.☹️I suppose I will have to decant the rest.
I slept like a rock last night. Thankfully! Have a long day before my son’s flight gets in tonight. My plan is to stop at Nordstrom on the way and see if there is anything new and exciting to sniff.
Safe travel thoughts for your son and happy sniffing at Nordies! Also, what do you do to decant when a sprayer won’t work? I have this bottle of Loulou…..
I have this bottle of Candy…
When I have a broken sprayer I have my husband remove it with pliers and I decant into a glass atomizer.
So that works? Just clamp with pliers on the stem top and pull/twist? Then glug, glug into a decanter? I have wondered about that but have been scared to try it. BTW, I wish I knew how spayers fail when clogs are ruled out.
I think you have to also pry up the edges that are crimped around the bottle neck. I have one that needs to be done, I’ll watch him and report back on the exact procedure when he does it.
Thank you cazaubon!!
SOTD:Gold. Cozy, I swear it smells just like Organza Indecense, vintage.
After acorn duty and a call to the vet, might see a friend and have her examine my dog. Who always gets so excited to see her.
Any Sniffsters tomorrow?
Nope. I think I missed all the Diptyques except for the very first one.
I missed all. First one I am in. I want a discount, lol.
Enjoy!
Weather 22C, very pleasant.
Spent the day in Lush Orange Blossom, i bought a small bottle tears ago and replaced it this year, sort of a classic by now and I put it right up there with Neroli Blanc, for ob. Tonight I chose a gourmand Missoni Gianduia, my favorite chocolate fragrance.
*years not tears
I love the Leonardo/Toby version of The Great Gatsby! I will have to watch the RR one again – “Old Sport” looks fabulous in front of that tea urn. I love the book, too: it’s tear-jerker. SotD: organizing dresser this morning so have spritzed various scents as I put things away, but a sample of Encens Mythique has lingered around my watch band when pumped away thinking it was dried up and then some dribbled out! Off to read comments – and yay for Swapmeet!
I loved the book when I read it, but I have not felt compelled to reread Fitzgerald in years — at this point, I probably don’t even know how the movie differs from the book.
I’m in Mimosa & Cardamom from Jo Malone 🙂
You smell fantastic! ?
Yesterday was the last time the sun will set after 7pm for me until March of 2022. Another sign that Autumn is here. And some small trees are in full fall colors now. ??
Today was Strike Two for my search for Stain Remover/Laundry Pre Treatment. So it is not just one grocery store chain that is having issues getting hold of it. I do have a few loads that won’t need it, so maybe I should get those dealt with and worry about the “Stain Goop” a little later on.
SOTD = back in Passage d’Enfer again. Getting restless, though. So it’s time to see what else in the Great Perfume Stash will suit my current mood(s).
Oh dear, that’s depressing…it’s a long way til March.
Green again today: Ninfeo Mio. Thank you, Kermit the Frog.
Definite autumnal coolness this evening, so this week may indeed be the last go-round of the year for my Summer Greens.
Ohh, good pairing! You smell great!
Our last day of Texas summer (supposedly)–yay! I can’t wait to wear long sleeves and maybe even a sweater! My SOTD is Nars Audacious, gifted from a kind friend. It is pleasant and smells kind of peachy to me. Mostly musk right now after being on awhile. I’m barely mobile these days with arthritis in a new joint–oh joy!–my right knee. Trying to make it another week until I have an appointment with a knee doctor who specializes in non-surgical alternatives. No way can I have another major joint replacement surgery this soon. It seems the world is conspiring against me in my very joints and bones, so unfair. My rant: a lot of people tell me I could resolve these problems by exercise. No, in fact, every expert tells you that once the cartilage is gone, exercise is only going to make things worse. And once the process of degeneration starts it can worsen very quickly. Please try not to stand in judgment of your older friends, it’s not what we need when we are already feeling isolated and miserable! Rant over, thank you.
I’m sorry your having more bone/health issues! I hope your MD had some effective non-invasive treatments for you. I don’t consider that ??ranting at all, just a gentle reminder to people to mind their manners and stay in their own lane. ?
I also have a bottle of Nars Audacious gifted by a kind friend, I need to pull it out and wear it. So sorry you are in pain! I’m having hip issues so I completely sympathize.
Anyone who would stand in judgement needs to sit down. (and shut up)
