It’s Tuesday and the last day of August. (And a quick PSA: the next swapmeet will be on September 18.) What fragrance are you wearing?
I am up early, and commando for an easy (but potentially time consuming, so I may or may not post more today) medical procedure. I'm drinking a cup of Cacao Kisses Colombian black tea from Upton.
Reminder: 9/3 will be Labor Day Weekend...take a break from community projects and wear what you want.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Wow! Robin you are an early bird. Best of luck with your procedure!
Today’s SotD is Dune in my week of favorite scents. I’m up early too, and after I get my morning chai, I have absolutely nothing on my agenda. Some days that’s exactly what is needed. Feels good.
Have a great Tuesday everyone!?
You smell wonderful, enjoy your day!
Dune is lovely stuff! 🙂
I love Dune so much! Thanks for suggesting my SotD. ?
Enjoy your vacation! I imagine you are also having perfect weather this week?
Thanks for the comment this morning. Hugs back from the other side of the lake.?
Thank you, went fine! Hope your day of rest is going great too.
Yay for vacation! I am impressed with people who can wear Dune on a semi-regular basis. It is so melancholic for me that I can’t.
Good luck with your medical Robin.
Niki de Saint Phalle today. Hope the temperature is a little more pleasurable! It’s been hot in Toronto this summer. We get all the extremes!
Have a wonderful day everyone.
I join you in wishing for decent weather! Hope your day is wonderful anyway.
That is such a great green perfume. ?
Good morning everyone! And good luck today Robin!
I’m in the very last of my 10ml spray of Dans Tes Bras, which I’ve been nursing for three years. At the notice of a price increase, I finally splurged and bought a 100ml bottle. Maybe a bit extravagant, but it’s still my absolute favorite of the Malles. I truly think I will finish this bottle in time.
Stay safe everyone!
Good for you, enjoy the new big bottle. And presumably now you can wear it more often.
Definitely! I just love wearing it. And since I got it from the EU (with free shipping) I saved about $60 which makes it a lot more palatable
Even better.
good luck today, Robin!
SOTD is Armani Bois d’ Encense.
PSA for Nordie shoppers. Nordstrom in Santa Anita, CA will carry le labo city editions should anyone want to use double points days or notes.
626-821-6363 Rick is the SA.
No affiliation here, just asked when I was at the store the other day.
You smell great apsara! I think you have inspired me to go dig out the Ouarzazate.
I hope everything is OK Robin. I’m wearing Angelys Pear from a sample.
Everything is just fine, thanks PriscillaE! How do you like the AP?
24, Faubourg, EDP – perfect for August, 31
It was late Princess Diana favourite scent (according to some articles) And it is her memory day
After smelling my friend’s 15-yearl-old bottle of Faubourg and noticing how much more intense and concentrated it started to smell after all these years of aging in a closed bottle I started googling and I came over quite an interesting revelation of one reviewer:
She actually buys perfumes and lets them age! Like a year or more.
Just like with wines.
Apparently lots of perfumes start to smell richer and more interesting after they age a bit. That’s why so many people find vintages so irresistible. Partly due to formula changes but probably due to natural ageing as well.
Who else ages their perfume in the cabinet on purpose?
Like buy and put on your darkest shelf for time to do its magic? =)
I’m so glad you posted about perfume aging. I haven’t known whether I was imagining things but there have been several perfumes that I bought and liked but then put on the shelf. When I returned to them (Apres L’Ondee is an example) I smelled a depth that I hadn’t before.
How much did my nose/tastes change? The perfume? I haven’t been intentional about perfume aging but I like the results so far.
I have to try my 3 year old Apres L’Ondee
It’s been abandones in a cabinet since it was too flowery for my tastes, maybe ageing did it some good))
An interesting question. I know Frederic Male in particular talked about how each perfume they sell ages for a different length of time. I believe PoaL was 18 months? On the flip side I remember him saying that the Cashmeran in Dans Tes Bras degrades after about two years….
THIS. I think whether or not aging improves a perfume completely depends on what’s in it.
And the pull of vintage is to get either the original or a pre-IFRA formation. Aging does not always go well, depending on a number of factors. Topnotes, in particular, do not always survive.
Yes I wouldn’t age something light. Just like wine, not everything can handle age!
Agree, but in general I like perfumes that are not light and everyone says the had great experience with vintages
Vol de Nuit
Opium
etc
I haven’t ever intentionally aged my perfumes. Most of the time I’ve been lucky with the results.
Good luck with the medical procedure, Robin!
Lavishly sprayed in Hermes Osmanthe Yunnan.
Out to run some quick errands before my PT.
Happy Tuesday! ?
Went fine, and hope your PT does too!
My PT went fine also. Thank you!
You smell fantastic!
Thank you, Vee! ?
I’ve been following your saga even though my posting has gotten erratic as of late. Very happy to hear that you are currently doing PT.
Thank you, Jalapeno. I am feeling much better.
No STOD yet. I need to run a couple of errands and then pack my bag. We are going out of town for a couple of days for our 31st anniversary (the actual day is tomorrow). Sometimes we have taken a “big” vacation for our anniversary, but this time it is smaller thing. Two nights this time, an overnight trip a few days later, several dinners out. Low stress, no real schedules–just spending time with my favorite person, relaxing, and enjoying some good food.
31 years, wow! Congratulations!?
Your plans sound perfect. Enjoy!
Happy anniversary!
Enjoy the celebration.
Congratulations! Enjoy the time away!
Congratulations on 31 years!
How lovely, enjoy!
Awwwwwwwwwww! Congratulations on 31 years! ???
Woohoo on 31 years!
Have a lovely celebration!
Morning everyone. My SOTD is vintage Opium. I’m in the mood for spicy resins.
Headed to the gym, for an easy day of lighter weights, more reps. I’m more sore and tired than usual, might be good for a restorative workout.
Robin, best of luck with your procedure! I hope all goes well. 🙂
I dream of some vintage Opium! I Envy you!
For me It will be a perfect choice for autumn when leaves will start to get their bright colours =)
Wow – Opium at the gym – you are hardcore! I’ll be curious to hear a report back ?
Between hot flashes and stair master, I was wafting big time! I probably made someone’s eyes water, but oh well….
lolol! Sounds like you survived ?
Thank you!
You just may have convinced me to try my Opium while it is still warm out…
Good Luck Robin!
Coffee this morning (maybe 3 in total) My youngest was making them for me there was some mistakes along the way, he kept trying and I kept drinking.
From SmokeyT’s talk of MFK yesterday I am Baccarat Rouge 540 today the EDP version.
This is great but sometimes I can’t smell it.
Oh, perhaps your youngest can make extra cups of coffee for me! Not fully awake despite two cups… O_o
And your SOTD is glorious! My samples should be here any day now…
Que the old Heinz ketchup commercial.
Oh how sweet! Hope you did not end up over caffeinated.
I need to give my sample of BR 540 a sniff one day, when I feel up to it. I enjoyed it very much the first time I smelled it. Did NOT enjoy that price tag, though.
Good luck with your medical procedure, Robin! I hope you don’t have a lot of waiting.
I’m in Aedes Signature today, and that thunks this decant. Next time I wear this will be from a travel spray from a swap with a kind NSTer. ?
I’m off soon to run some errands and get my hair cut. This pixie I’m sporting needs maintenance!
You smell fabulous in that tomato leaf and rhubarb combo!
Thanks allo! It’s pretty wonderful.
Hope your cut goes well! I waited until I was fully vaxxed to go to a professional so from march 2020 to may 2121 I maintained my own pixie.
I grew it out a few inches so I could wear it curly (and camouflage my home haircuts) and have kept it this way even with professional cuts.
But the pull of the pixie is strong. I’m always tempted to go back to one – easy maintenance, chic, always looks good…
I waited until I was vaccinated too, kpaint. The hubster cut mine in what I’ll call a messy bob for over a year. It’s been nice to get it trimmed up!
Thank you! And boy do I need hair maintenance too. Hope your cut is fantastic.
Thanks Robin! It was nice to get my ears lowered. ?
So, how did the haircut come out?
It was great! Good to get it shipshape again.
Huzzah! This is not the time for a bad haircut, IMO. ?
I cut my own bangs on Sunday…
Hope you’re getting the hang of it. You’ve trimmed your bangs a few times, IIRC.
Swapmeet, yay! Good luck with your procedure, Robin!
I will be wearing Dune today, thanks to inspiration from madtowngirl. It’s not as hot as it has been here, for which I’m very grateful.
Tea is a blend I made up from several samples I bought at Upton. I’m trying to dupe the Empress tea from the Fairmont Victoria. I dislike those triangle bags they switched to, plus the increased cost and hassle of shipping. I must say, it’s pretty good!
I’m really looking forward to the swapmeet too! I think I am finally ready to let a few things go.
I’ve been ready for quite a while, lol! Just procrastinating.
In case you haven’t already found this information, the tea is supposedly a blend of Assam , Kenya), South India, Ceylon , and China…
Thanks, AnnieA! Yes, I have a box, on which they conveniently give this information. So I had a head start, lol!
I love blending my own teas…it’s fun even if I can’t completely manage a perfect dupe.
It is fun. What’s been your favorite so far, Robin?
My favorite is my Earl Grey mix. I started trying to mimic Fortnum & Mason Smoky Earl Grey and made something I liked even better (Upton Extra Bergamot Earl Grey, Upton Lapsang Souchong Imperial, Harney Super French Lavender). When I run out of the Upton Extra Bergamot I will switch to Numi Aged Earl Grey because I’ve realized how much better real bergamot tastes than bergamot flavoring.
I really like Numi Chinese Breakfast mixed with nearly any Upton Assam.
Two dupes I would like to come up with: a dupe of the Kusmi black tea with buffalo grass (because they stopped making it) and a dupe of Fortnum & Mason Countess Grey (because not always easy to find here).
How about you?
Oh, good to know about the bergamot. The Numi would make a nice gift for my H, should I remember this next time such an occasion comes around.
This is the first time I’ve made up a blend. I used to be a die-hard coffee drinker, but I’ve been drinking tea lately, and I’ve fallen down the tea rabbit-hole! ? There are so many!
I was thinking it would be fun to have a tea-swap.
I have not tried any of the Numi teas you mentioned; I will look for them. Your blends sound so good.
Apparently Fairmont switched tea suppliers about 5 years ago and, imho, the Empress tea suffered for it. I also miss their Vanilla Orchid tea.
I’m not surprised. At the risk of sounding like the crabby old lady that I am (sometimes,) the quality of goods produced in the last few years seems to have taken a big nosedive. ?
I’ve gotten used to teabags without strings so now I find that very annoying. It’s funny what little things can irk people.
SotD = Carillon pour un ange
SWOON! If this perfume were still in production it would be my signature scent forever. I’m in heaven. Many thanks to the wonderful NSTer who shared a bit of this lovely elixir with me.
Happy Tuesday, NST friends. I hope Monday’s little sister treats you kindly. 🙂
Wow I just googled it. Sounds lovely!! I am wondering what did Andy put inside of that bottle – amber crystals? By the way I see it for sale on ebay for way over $300…
It is lovely, and that bottle does look interesting!
way over $300 is way over my comfort level 😉
Good lord that fragrance is drop dead gorgeous! I spritzed a sample and my MIL came downstairs to ask what I was wearing. She never cares about niche and even she wanted to purchase a bottle.
Ethereal, painfully beautiful, lily of the valley – Andy really knocked it out of the park with this one.
That is incredibly high praise coming from an NSTer!
Heh, for once we don’t agree, but that’s what makes this place a wonderful place to hang out!
This is me in my head yesterday, after a teenage driver was very rude in a parking lot
https://youtu.be/lx0z9FjxP-Y
Lol
Wearing TF Orchid Soliel today because he called my name in that irresistible sultry voice of his. ?
Good luck today Robin!
Oh, no! Thanks for the laugh, but the inhumanity of rude drivers is such a drag.
Going to open the perfume closet door again and listen carefully for any irresistible sultry voices calling my name!
Oooh I hope you do!
Thanks for the sweet comment yesterday. It means alot.
*Hugs*! And I just passed by the perfume closet and heard a little voice saying, “Don’t you want to smell like ginger biscuits and misbehavior?” Yes, Musc Ravageur, yes I do.
🙂
Ha! ?
Thanks lillyjo, and hope you are feeling a little better today!
Thanks Robin. I’m keeping the Faith and doing ok. Thanks for your kind comment yesterday.
Please don’t ever doubt the value of NST. This is a wonderful place you have created.
https://youtu.be/ph7oZnBH05s
Gave myself a song
Lol!
🙂
So sorry to hear that things have gotten you down lillyjo.
Here’s a song for you: https://youtu.be/oYGmtGnhdks
Hope it kicks that blue mood right where it counts.
Perfect, for crying out loud! There’s a special place in H E double L for rude drivers, period!
Starting out the day in OJ Ta’if. Gosh, I forget how gorgeous this is between wearings.
YES!
I will never be without this.
Good morning ? scent of the day is Diptyque’s Kyoto. Lovely stuff. They’ve done a wonderful job with their Le Grand Tour collection. All the best to you Robin and our NST community.
For a second I thought You had a typo! Kyoto is by CdG afterall… Then I remembered that is right!! Diptyque had a recent release called Kyoto. Lucky You to try it already!! Glad You like it.
Oh good, so glad to hear Kyoto is worth wearing.
And thank you!
Goo to hear a positive review. I’m looking forward to trying this one. I am going to have to work to mentally separate it from CdG Kyoto (which I love) so that I can judge it on its own merits.
Good doctor visit wishes to you this morning Robin:)
Sotd is Outremer Violette – a sweet little fragrance to start the day.
Since we still have cool, cloudy weather, it’s a perfect day for Tom Ford Shanghai Lily. Thunked my decant!
Is that the end of that then, or is a full bottle purchase coming on?
No bottle purchase for me, but maybe I’ll get another decant one of these days via a swap. I believe it was discontinued, so there’s just the resale market now. Plus, I have plenty of Frassai Blondine and Aedes Oeillet Bengale, and I think the TF is similar enough to those that it doesn’t leave a hole in my collection.
Oh, I think you’re right, I’d forgotten.
Robin, wishing You all the best today!!
SotD = Asian Green Tea. Now what I love about this fragrance is that supposedly it is another green tea scent. What it truly is – is a gem. Green tea smells genuine in it plus while staying fresh, green and cheer it has this amazing “supernote” in it’s heart that I just cannot resist…
Thank you! Glad you are loving your perfume 🙂
I’m wearing Bitter Peach this morning.
Happy Tuesday foxbins!
SOTD is BDK tabac rose.
Robin, I hope everything went smoothly with your procedure today.
PSA for fans of Aedes: apparently their fragrances are coming back. Repackaged. I saw this on Persolaise’s blog, and it was announced on Aedes’ instagram page. Not much more details though!
That’s great news about Aedes! Looks like someone asked about any reformulation on Iris Nazarena, and Aedes confirmed it’ll be the same juice.
Such great news! I’d love to read more about this and couldn’t find it on Persolaise’s blog. Is there another source?
I got my info from Aedes’ Instagram post and comments.
Thanks – I missed the comments.
The Aedes news is very buried in this post:
https://persolaise.com/2021/08/hermes-h24-dior-oud-rosewood-frederic-malle-the-night-and-other-reviews-skin-time-august-2021.html
Thanks so much for this link and your perfume sleuthing!
Woohoo!!!!
Excellent news!
Awesome news scoop!
Hope all goes well for you today, Robin.
In the last fumes of Le Temps de Fete and I do love it. Moving slowly today, but must get a few errands done before potential flooding tomorrow (curse you, Ida). Stay well everyone.
Yep, really really really hoping our basement does not flood. (And thank you, went fine!)
Hope that you both stay high and dry, jepster and Robin!
After recent talk of HG Arbole, and a suggestion of trying patchouli as a non-summer summer option (thumbs up on that, btw) I’m in Arbole. I’m actually not even sure if there’s patch in this but it has always read that way to me.
That said, I’m about to go wash it off as I need to shower before I head out to PT.
Hope your day at the doctor isn’t too excruciating, Robin.
Was a piece of cake, and hope your PT is the same!
Good luck with your PT.
Was in Bombay Bling this morning but now in Deneuve extrait. A little humid today but none of the oppressive heat today.
I can’t remember the last time we had this many days of high humidity in a row. I am surprised there is not mold growing on my house and car…
Or on all the Jersey Walls on the highways…
SOTD: eau se Soleil Blanc.
Nice beachy, sunscreen kinda scent. Easy to wear and goes perfect with a bunch of lotions I wear. A lot of people don’t want to smell like sunscreen, but it develops into more. Plus, it was a gwp rollerball. Normally, I hate them, but, this goes on only my gross skin.
Happy Tuesday!
And, hope your day with your doctor is an easy, really non-painful in every sense, experience.
It was, thanks AnniePerfumes!
I didn’t see a reply you made to one of my comments a while back. But, just to clear up, I’m not on instagram (or any social media for that matter) so it wasn’t my post that you enjoyed.
Thanks for clearing it up. I’m sure you are just as nice!
I think I have a sample of your SOTD lurking around here somewhere. Thanks for the short review!
No problem. Hope I did it justice.
SOTD is Eau Premiere. Finally some quiet time after moving all weekend.
A closet full of perfume and nothing to wear… I’m not sure why I’m feeling so uninspired today. Is it because there isn’t really a fragrance that goes with depression-loneliness-environmental despair-humanitarian angst-fire season anxiety-insomnia-lurking headache-crushing fatigue-no dating prospects? I feel like I’m under a lead blanket these days, and today perfume feels like it would be too dissonant in its sensuality and joie-de-vivre — two things I’d dearly love to recover but spraying them out of a bottle just ain’t gonna make it happen…
Isabella I hear you. I feel all those things so heavily some days too. Sending you hope that the headache and fatigue lift and you feel less dread even though the world is literally on fire.
Thank you, Adrihazel. Got in a sweaty afternoon work hike which helped some, along with skies today that are blue instead of brown.
Oh good! Blue skies do help!
I don’t think virtual hugs from an internet acquaintance will really help any, but just in case I’m sending them your way.
They actually do help, and thank you!
The only thing I know if that goes with depression-loneliness-environmental despair-humanitarian angst-fire season anxiety-insomnia-lurking headache-crushing fatigue-no dating prospects is meditation, but a fragrance would be so much easier, wouldn’t it? Spray on some Tam Dao and meditate for 5 minutes, that’s my advice, but it’s not advice I would take myself when in the grips of existential dread.
Second piece of advice: read something absurd. If I make it through 2021, it will be because of PG Wodehouse, seriously.
oh yes, Jeeves and Wooster is my best antidepressant and always were since the day I discovered Wodehouse)
And Tam Dao is one of my favorites too
I have re-read J&W so many times I nearly know them by heart 🙂
Now in the midst of the Blandings series, which I don’t read as often but is in some ways even more comforting.
Noted! I’ll pick up some PG Wodehouse and spray a bit of Tam Dao on the pages. 🙂 Along similar lines, it’s probably time for me to re-read Cold Comfort Farm — always a pick-me-up!
Cold Comfort Farm is perfect.
I have a huge collection of bookmarks and I put some leaves of Papier d’Armenie in the box where I keep them…it is just enough so that when I open a book, the smells mixes nicely with the scent of old paper.
Now if I could just make my kindle smell the same.
Ahh, that sounds lovely! I should do something better with my Papier d’Armenie than just keep it in a drawer. Maybe at least keep it in my lingerie drawer!
This may or may not work for you, but I have learned that sometimes it is better for me to lean into a bad mood, rather than fight it. That doesn’t mean I have to like it, though.
Hugs.
Sometimes that’s the best approach! My parents used to live in Samoa and they told me about a cultural phenomenon there where people would sometimes “go musu,” which, as I understand it, meant that they were feeling low and were just not going to talk to anyone or make any effort that day. When nurses would be musu at the hospital where my mom worked, they’d continue to do their jobs perfectly competently but they would cross their arms over their chests and look down and shake their heads if someone tried to engage with them, and everyone would just say, “Oh, they’re musu today,” and would respectfully leave them in peace. I love this.
Oh wow. That’s an attitude I think a lot of people could benefit from.
I think a weighted blanket may help. It makes you feel snug.
I have one! It’s been too hot to break it out recently but the nights are getting fall-chilly and I think I can re-engage with it. Thanks for the reminder!
Hi Isabella. I am going to share my dating advice. One day you will wake up and not remember to care about being with someone. This is when they will come into your life. Cliche but true. That said… Always be prepared! Stay on your toes, keep smelling great!
It’s late here, and I’m tired so I hope this came across the way I intended ( lovingly and lighthearted)
Hi Lillyjo — oh, I’m totally there! I’m actually really loving being single these days; I just wish I had more of a social life and going on a few dates would add some sparkle. Fortunately, I definitely don’t feel like I “need” someone, or that single-dom is a problem that I need to fix.
Layered Caron Eau de Réglisse over the remains of Sables and it worked quite well, now I am in Cacharel Loulou because it’s almost cold.
Interesting mix, would not have guessed it would work!
It was quite a random experiment but I guess that it’s the liquorice + immortelle which worked.
I would loved to have sent you some heat from Colorado! It was in the mid 90’s F when I left. But so, so dry.
Thank you Jalapeno, it sounds like ideal weather, August has been unseasonably cool here.
SOTD is AS Sunday…on a Tuesday. Just had the right feel for today.
Hope your procedure has gone well, Robin, and that you don’t have to spend most of the day there.
Nope, was out in under 3 hours, thanks!
Officially the first day of spring, and it’s a sunny morning with a cloudless blue sky. It won’t be warm out, but still working from home, so I won’t have a chilly walk to work.
I saw a recent question about where the lockdown was, but a bit late to reply – I’m in New Zealand, and we seem to be getting on top of the Delta outbreak, which is a relief.
Another day of sample testing, I’ve tried all my samples at least once, but nearly everything merits further consideration. I meet only a few real scrubbers.
I have my fingers crossed for New Zealand! I saw that Australia is going to give up on zero-covid.
Isn’t that the only option? Though one supposes that the sooner regimes adopt and state this, the easier it will be for people to wrap their heads around what the future looks like.
No, it’s not the only option.
Yep, zero covid is pipe dream. It’s here to stay.
So guys…let’s be real careful not to start arguing about covid policies, we all have enough stress already 🙂
Beautiful day here and it feels like spring, a bit. Certainly a lot lighter in the mornings.
Yay for dodging scrubbers! When they are bad, it seems that they are really, really nasty.
? Tuesday afternoon…! Thinking of the Moody Blues song right now. ?
I’m in a very small spritz of Queen today, which I haven’t worn in forever it seems.
Found the most BEAUTIFUL free camp site today, so I may stay the entire allowed time. I have everything I need except connectivity, which is spotty at best. That’s ok, as long as I can receive phone calls regarding the irons I have in the fire.
T-Rex is scrambling around on riverside boulders trying to catch some small fuzzy animal she spotted. That will keep her occupied for a few hours, at least!
Happy Tuesday to all✌?
https://instagram.com/stories/vantasticviews/2652608209258671582?utm_source=ig_story_item_share&utm_medium=copy_link
Camping in a glorious spot and also having irons in the fire…that all sounds wonderful!
Yes, it is! Glad everything went well for you today. ??
Found you on Instagram and I have a major case of van envy! I’ve been wanting to get a camper van but price has been prohibitive for a prefab one, wondering if retrofitting a Chevy van is a more economical route?
Hi, sorry, I missed your comment yesterday. Yes, you are exactly right! I bought my van with the intention of getting out of debt, not jumping into it. The “ready made” camper-vans are ridiculously priced, and a very poor investment of your money. I did a bunch of research before I had my van built out, and happy to give you additional info if you want. Don’t want to take space on a perfume blog to do that, but feel free to email me if you want to know how I built my van. Email is taiga101 in the land of the yahooligans. Cheers!
Excellent Song of the Day pick! ??
Love the Moody Blues! Haven’t listened to them in a long time, so Tuesday was the day. Take care, jalapeño!
Woo hoo! Love you and T-Rex!
Right back at ya, sister! ✌?
Inspired by Gaynor’s sampling testing, I went for two this morning.
Left wrist: CdG Dot – I get lots of bitter orange in this – juice, pith, and zest. 75% natural smelling, but then 25% synthetic smelling. The synthetic orange note doesn’t dominate, but you can’t miss it. It is a heavy juice note, not a sparkling or refreshing one. It comes across more as Saturday morning breakfast juice at home in your PJs, not walking through an Italian orange grove in flowy dress.
Right wrist: CdG Sticky Cake – Opening was a blast of alcohol, like aerosol hairspray. That lasted about a half hour. After that burned off, I got macarons (almonds, but not overly sweet, and not buttery), milk, and the myrrh, which does give a hint of dates but without that high pitched sweetness dates sometimes hove – it is a much more mellow, rounded sweetness. Reminds me of Cloud, but where Cloud is colorless translucent sweetness, this is amber translucent sweetness. Corn syrup vs. Golden syrup.
Had an early work call, so treated myself to a pot of Mariage Freres tea.
I nave to find my Sticky Cake! Is the Cloud Ariana Grande?
Yes, Ariana Grande. Cloud is very sweet, but fun!
Plumeria body lotion after shower followed with Aloha Tiaré..
Stopped in Macy’s yesterday…a very small one. But they had testers of LVEB Intensement and the Chanel No. 5 flankers. Sprayed bits of them all on. The Lancôme scent grew on me as it dried down, but my husband wasn’t a fan. And I confirmed I prefer L’Eau Premiere to the original and L’Eau.
I saw a Lancome store on Terminal B of the Atlanta airport when I was flying out 2 weeks ago. It had a big honking bottle of LVEB Intensement prominently featured. Sadly, I was in no mood for sniffing at that time.
Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit! A frosty start to the 1st of September and a clear blue sky, no wind, and the very first leaves on the maple tree are just opening …slowly. The mimosa down the road is in full bloom and smells beautiful: powdery and spicy and made me realise how few mimosa scents I have. Actually, I have none – so that’s not very many. I did have Cardamon and mimosa at one point. I’m sitting up in bed with two dogs at my feet waiting for the District Nurse to arrive. District nurses are the ones that visit people in their homes , often after surgery (wound dressings, vacuum pumps) but also for palliative care, drips etc. They are the most amazing people and (unlike some hospital doctors/nurses) don’t rush or leave you feeling sicker than before. They are so sensible and skilled but also give a bit of hope. I wonder what the rabbits in the graveyard are up to? I bet they are tucking in to the new growth and spreading the love. Wearing Encens de Satin.
You’re the first to rabbit! I hope your recovery is going well.
I want a district nurse!! That is lovely. We have no such thing here, at least that I know of.
Also some sort of nurse should go down the road and steal some of those mimosa branches for you.
Your telling of spring will help get me through winter.
I just realized something odd and special. While browsing through samples of The House of Oud earlier I noted the notes for “Just Before” and they are as follows:
Bergamot, lemon, saffron.
Palo Santo, Ylang-Ylang, Myrrh.
Vanilla, Benzoin, Amber, Sandalwood.
These were notes written on an official, manufacturer’s sample card.
Later looked at the THoO website and their candles (am dying for a Moroccan Breakfest candle btw!!).
A candle called “Timeless” has a completely different color design but the same notes listed as the perfume “Just Before”. Wondering why they didn’t market them as a matching duo? But I actually like their idea better. I like that it is like a hidden surprise!!
Hope the procedure went well, Robin!
PSA: Do not forget your rabbits ? ? ?!
SOTD = Kilian, Love don’t be shy Extreme
So yummy! I thought of this because ltsg wore it last week.
https://www.instagram.com/p/CTQQbXGrn1v/?utm_medium=copy_link
In other news, I was going to make it into the office today but one little 8 minute snooze made it too late for me to catch the train I like to catch so I made the executive decision to Work from Home instead. I don’t think I will make it in at all this week. No harm done ?.
Rainbow Kitten Surprise in your picture today! (Yes, that is a band name, but it is also perfect to describe that critter.)
Ha! Now I will use the name!
That’s the way to do executive decision making!!
And thank you.
I hope that everything went well for you today Robin.
Hello NST. I’m back.
Song of the Day: https://youtu.be/JxPj3GAYYZ0
Have a Kleenex or hankie handy for this one.
No way to sugarcoat what’s been going on for me. My Mom died suddenly on August 15th. Not COVID, thank God. I flew out to Colorado the next day. I did get to speak with Mom before she passed, but she was not responsive. I was hoping that she would have hung on until I got there, but it was not meant to be. Her Funeral Mass was last week, but she won’t be buried until September 13th due to a backlog at the National Cemetery where my Dad is interred.
Commando today.
See my out of place comment below. I obviously need some posting pointers ?
Jalapeno, I’m devastated to hear of your loss. Wishing you all possible comfort and strength in this difficult time. Be gentle with yourself in your grief, and I hope that you have loved ones around you to support you right now.
Thank you Isabella. I reconnected with some of my favorite cousins who I haven’t seen since 1995. And I have NST, too.
So sorry for your loss, jalapeño. I had been thinking of you this whole time. Even though she was not responsive, she heard you. May her memory be a blessing.
Thanks hajusuuri. It’s been a blur. I jumped right into funeral preparations the day after I got there. What a slog.
My condolences for your loss Jalapeño, may her memory be a blessing. Sending you lots of hugs.
Thank you SmokeyToes. Your workout ethic awes me.
I’m very sorry for your loss, Jalapeno. I’m sending you and your family my condolences and lots of hugs.
Thanks tulipani.
Jalapeno, this was my fear for you all these weeks. I am so sorry for your loss. I agree with Hajusuuri… she heard you. May she rest in peace.
Thank you lillyjo. I will post more of this latest saga as I can handle it. Your comments made here while I was lurking made me smile thru the tears.
Oh my dear Jalapeno, I am so sorry for your loss. But you were there–just because your Mom did not respond does not mean that she did not feel you at her side. No matter how rational we are, we are still never prepared to lose a parent. Just like love, grief is an ongoing lesson….it will hit you at the oddest moments. Just take care of yourself and remember all those who love you (including your Mom) and it will carry you through. Sending love and light to you and yours.
Thanks jepster. My brother and I have both commented that the grief seems to come in waves. Best thing to do is just let it wash over.
So thankful that we prepaid for her funeral back in 2018. It really did lighten the load for us.
Sending you strength and love, Jalapeno. I am so very sorry for your loss.
Thank you She-ra.
I am so sorry for your loss, Jalapeno. May the memories of your mom help you and your family find peace. And remember that we are always here for you. Sending hugs.
Thanks perfumelover67. NST hugs are always appreciated.
I’m so sorry about your Mom, Jalapeno. Sending some comforting hugs to you.
Thank you Gail.
I’m so sorry your mom passed away. I believe, she heard you. I always was told about hearing being the last sense to go, as well. You have been a wonderful daughter to your mom. ?
Thank you AnniePerfumes. ?
I’m so sorry to hear about your mom, jalapeno. I agree with others, I’m absolutely sure your mom heard you even if she couldn’t respond. Gentle hugs to you as you deal with this difficult loss.
Thanks Nancyleandros. It’s going to hurt for a while, that’s for sure.
Oh, Jalapeno, I am so sorry about your mom. Your absence here weighed heavy and I feared this may be the reason. Sending you and your brother virtual hugs. Even with only the snippets you’ve shared with us here, it is clear the two of you took such good care of her and surrounded her with love.
Thank you Vee. We drove each other nuts sometimes, but there was a strong foundation of love underneath it all.
I’m so sorry to hear about your mom. You were a good daughter to her. Hugs to you and your brother.
Thanks foxbins. I teared up reading your response.
I’m so very for your loss, Jalapeño. Please accept my deepest condolences and virtual hugs. I feel sure that your mom was aware of your presence and love at some level. Thank you for letting us all know.
Thanks for your very kind words AnnE.
Aw, Jalapeno, I am so sorry. It is a shock to lose a parent even when you know it is coming.
Wishing you and your brother peace.
Thank you Robin. You are so right about it being a shock. My Mom had a very steep decline in recent weeks. It was so sad to see that. ?
Dear Jalapeno,
so sorry for your loss, somehow your mother will have felt your presence. Sending comforting thoughts and hugs.
Thanks Aurora. The condolences and hugs are greatly appreciated.
I’m so very sorry Jalapeño. I’d noticed your absence and hoped this was not the reason. I agree with the many others, from my experience with death, I am absolutely sure your mom heard you. Please take good care of yourself during your grief.
Thanks madtowngirl. At least I was able to say goodbye to Mom. I did not have the chance to do that with my Dad.
My deepest condolences to you, Jalapeno. I’m so sorry for your loss.
Thank you, the rabbitsflower.
Guerlain French Kiss and dim sum to celebrate five years since I met my husband
Yay for 5 years! I do miss dim sum!
It even had the carts!
Jalapeño, so sorry to hear this! If it’s any consolation at all, hearing is the last senses to leave us as we travel on, so she may have heard and known you were there, but just unable to communicate that to you. ❤️?
Sorry, this is for jalapeño ??
Hiya Deva.
Yes, the hospice nurse did tell my brother that. He was physically able to be there before she passed away, and put his cell phone on speaker so I could say the Important Stuff to Mom.
I sure do hope that she heard it.
