Zoologist Chipmunk ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 12 August 2021 16 Comments

Indie Canadian line Zoologist will launch Chipmunk, a new unisex fragrance, later this month.

The lush green of the treetops fades to a dull gold. What seems a peaceful transition actually raises a blaring alarm to the creatures below. Time is running out. But for generations, mighty oaks have fulfilled a promise to provide, and leaves are not the only bounty tumbling to the forest floor. Chipmunks scurry among the detritus in their quest to collect the plumpest acorns. They eagerly gather what they can and, cheeks bulging with nuts, scamper home to line their snug burrows before falling leaves give way to biting snow.

Zoologist Chipmunk captures an autumn forest bursting with ripe nuts. Juicy quince, dusted with cardamom and nutmeg, dangles tantalizingly among naturalistic woods and green, milky kernels. Chipmunk invites you up into the branches, offering a dazzling vantage point from which to enjoy the rich golden and russet hues of the changing seasons.

Chipmunk was developed by perfumer Pia Long. Additional notes include pink pepper, red mandarin, camomile, hazelnut, fir balsam, oak, earthy notes, cedar, amyris, patchouli, vetiver, benzoin, opoponax, guaiacwood and (synthetic) animal notes.

Zoologist Chipmunk is available for pre-order now at Luckyscent, $165 for 60 ml Extrait de Parfum. (It will also be sold in a 10 ml travel spray.)

I’ve tested this one. I was anosmic to much of it, weirdly. It may be the synthetic animal notes, which I am translating as ‘musk’ that caused the mischief.

I’m buying this one. Tested it and I think it would be perfect in any weather, but really agree it is a cozy scent. Easy to wear and still a very interesting journey, I fell hard!

Rather fevered ad copy – has Zoologist been like this for a while?

I liked it. I like the brand a lot and have liked most of their fragrances. I’ll pick it up eventually but the real surprise for me is a reformulated version of their fragrance Macaque. It’s called a Yuzu edition and it’s terrific. Very wearable and versatile and manages to grab your attention when you aren’t expecting it. Great work I think. The surprise is that I hated the original Macaque. It had an apple note that was too loud, too fake and too grating. Same thing with their fragrance Panda. Maybe there is hope for Panda yet.

I would love to try this, the notes sound weird but I have a soft spot for chipmunks. Hopefully someone will decant? 🙂

I’d be in for a split of this. Afterall, the hunt for my HG forest&juniper scent must be thorough. 🙂

Will you really?? Count me in for a 5mL split (though it looks like you’ll have no trouble getting enough people to split this).

The artwork for this is fabulous! The chipmunk dressed in a Brownie uniform and the little badges on the sash have some of the notes in the scent! Imagine a traditional animated series starring all the Zoologist creatures… what actor’s voices would you choose for the cast? ?
