Happy National Book Lovers Day! Most unfortunately it's also Monday. What fragrance are you wearing? (And what book are you reading?)
I'm in Acqua di Parma Iris Nobile, in the original Eau de Toilette. And I'm in the middle of three books: The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America's Great Migration by Isabel Wilkerson, Autumn by Ali Smith and Something Fresh (the first in the Blandings Castle series) by PG Wodehouse.
Reminder: 8/13 is Alfred Hitchcock's birthday (and Friday the 13th)...wear whatever seems to fit the theme.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

It’s Monday and the first day of my week of vacation.? I’m in Tam Dao, which is my perfume of choice when I have a long drive in front of me. It’s currently thundering so I’m gonna wait for the storm to pass.
In books, I’m still reading In the Midnight Library.
Have a great trip/vacation!
Thanks cazaubon!?
Bon voyage, madtowngirl!
Thanks Robin!?
Happy vacation!
Looks like the weather will be awesome this weekend!
Thanks lillyjo! I hope so!?I made it safely Up North and it’s beautiful out, I left the rain behind me.
You smell wonderful – have a safe trip!!
Thanks MossyBerry! Made it safely!?
travel safe, and enjoy your vacation.
Thanks jepster!?
Safe travels, and enjoy your vacation!
Thanks Jalapeño!?
Yay first to comment! I am still working my way thru ‘Washington’s Circle, about halfway thru (I told y’all it was a long one), and after i am finished with that I want to find a biography on Jean Harlow. I’ve heard ‘Bombshell’ is the definitive one but I will have to see what my library has.
SOT(Y)D was Cola. I wasn’t sure about a fragrance named after a Coke, but it turned out to be nice. Today I am planning on rocking another Chanel, Chance this time (but not 2 samples, those gals are strong enough!). Happy Monday!
oops, MadTownGirl beat me to it 😉
Who makes your Cola fragrance? I’m always on the lookout for cola!
The name on the sample is Hendley Cola. I just looked it up on Fragrantica and it was just launched last year. So, pretty new.
Thanks!
No scent as of yet; I’m not quite ready to face the morning. Just returned from a week-long workshop in Santa Fe, which was productive but has left me tired and reluctant to return to regular life.
I’ve heard NM is gorgeous. Returning to regular life is an adjustment…
This is one of five places my sister and I have narrowed down to live together.
I’ve heard it’s beautiful too. Curious what the other 4 are?
As of today…
Nairobi
Taormina
Amsterdam
San Miguel d’ Allende
I need to visit Santa Fe again, sounds like a nice place.
I am home from vacation 3 weeks now and I am still not ready to return to normal life. 🙂
Welcome back!
Morning everyone! How did Monday get here so quickly?? My SOTD is Good Girl Gone Bad by Killian. Wafting loads of tuberose and narcissus.
Opened up the work computer early, lots of student hires going on, soooo tired already. Maybe a quick at-home workout will help.
Happy Monday all!
I badly need a workout, so that’s in my plan for the day too. Happy Monday SmokeyToes!
Your reading list sounds wonderful! 🙂
And for motivation, news out of FL of the great grandmother who powerlifts and can bench press 160 lbs… 😯
https://indianexpress.com/article/trending/trending-globally/watch-100-year-old-woman-becomes-the-worlds-oldest-powerlifter-7441482/?fbclid=IwAR3w4ucPVEaUW74bSnfKXDqS97HSc3yVlTXV0iQDEaaaikD1FLz29zSShkI
I’m wearing Lankaran Forest, and really enjoying it. It is from a decant that is almost empty, and I’m thinking it might be discontinued.
You smell great! Love that one. I just bought a bottle last year I think, so possibly not discontinued.
Just checked the mfg’s website, it’s still for sale. Hard to find though, I ordered from Indiescents but had to wait months to get it because of Covid.
Book lovers day is my kind of holiday! Today I’m wearing my comfort scent (Ambra from Etro) again. It does put me in the mind of delicious smelling old pages. Right now I am working my way through 16 ways to defend a walled City by KJ Parker. The point of view character is excellent, however he’s trying to protect a city from being overrun, so I’m finding the reading a little stressful and can only do so much at a time!
That does sound stressful! I’ve been turning to mysteries and other light reading a lot more than usual in the pandemic.
I’ve definitely noticed a shift in my reading habits! I’ve been leading hard into the cozy sci-fi genre! I’ve always loved a good mystery though, what are your favorites?
I’m wearing too much Tauer Une Rose de Kandahar and feeling lucky that the elevator to my 8th floor office is out, since the hospital is technically fragrance free and my colleague who always notices I break the rules is stuck on the ground floor office due to a mobility issue. Luckily, we love each other now, so she wouldn’t make a real complaint, but it’s best for her to be downstairs today. 😉
I am reading “The Jakarta Method: Washington’s Anticommunist Crusade & the Mass Murder Program that Shaped Our World” (depressing, but enlightening), “Gottland: Mostly True Stories from Half of Czechoslovakia” and trying again on “Red Cavalry” by Isaac Babel.
Thumbs up on the serendipitous elevator failure! You smell great.
Erin, so nice to see you! Am going to send you an email this week, have been meaning to for ages.
But all 3 of your books sound at least slightly depressing! (Admittedly 2 of my 3 are too, but I’ve got Wodehouse to send me off to sleep with a smile on my face.)
And yep, you smell great.
Tried out Shalimar Initial today. Guerlain did bring it back as L’Initial on their website. Not sure if I love it enough to drop $280. Spending some time in no 5 edp.
We are scent twins today, Dawn.
I also saw L’Initial on Guerlain’s website. I wonder if it is identical to Shalimar L’Initial. I loved that scent so much. I was sorry when it was discontinued.
I don’t know if it’s identical but probably close. Maybe enough people complained about it’s discontinuation, they brought it back.
SOTD is Pinward Boreal. Another impressive conifer scent from Pineward. This one is a pine tree, with a minty pine note dominating, and resin coming in a strong second. There is a woody note there, but it is in the background. Gives a sticky/wet impression, rather than dry or dewy. This is the pine tree that you just chopped down at a chop-your-own christmas tree farm that has a decent layer of snow on the ground. It is similar to Pineward’s Binderbole, except that one is more dewy pinetree forest in the spring –less resin and more wet earth — rather than sappy pine tree in the winter when the ground is frozen and the cold air is bracing. Again, I’m impressed with how specific Pineward can be with its various trees.
Drinking Marco Polo tea and feeling fancy.
Currently listening to the audiobook of Parade’s End and looking forward to rewatching the HBO miniseries of it once I’m done. Fascinated by the Sylvia character.
Love those books.
Grey Monday morning, enjoying the coolness before the heat cranks back up later this week. Wearing Waft from the Loft.
We had some brief cool this morning, but it is already over.
Weather twins, though I’m back on the mainland now. Monitoring that possible heat wave closely, as I need to cancel a non-air conditioned reservation at Harrison Hot Springs if it extends into next week. (Trying to keep the kid happy since we can’t go over the border to visit family next week.)
Wearing Penhaligon’s Ellenisia today, since it seemed like it might be juuuuust cool enough that a BWF wouldn’t be too overwhelming. And if it is overwhelming, no problem, since I’m alone in the office today. 🙂
Just finished reading The Jane Austen Project by Kathleen A. Flynn. It mixed science fiction, time travel, regency romance, and of course, Ms. Austen in a really lovely and satisfying way. Not the deepest or most serious book ever, but a really good read. Highly recommended!
That sounds like an excellent read! Gonna look it up!
SOTD is Magnolia Nobile. Happy(?) Monday morning everyone. I can tell you that I am just NOT up to it today.
Current read is Once There Were Wolves by Charlotte McConaghy. It’s about a biologist trying to reintroduce Wolves into the ecosystem of the Scottish highlands. At least that’s what we’re doing in the first couple chapters, I only just started it. But I’m into it so far!
I love Magnolia Nobile 🙂
Monday oye ve. 4:30 wakeup for meeting.
SOTD is Heretic Smudge.
Reading Billion Dollar Loser about we work and listening to Giver of Stars in my car.
4:30!!
I hope a Monday that starts at 4:30 ends at 2:00!!!
It does. My contract at the house of many fragrances is 8 hours a day, 40 a week billable.
8)
Wow! I used to have to work Europe & Australia/NZ offices in the same day, but never had to get up that early! That’s nuts!
Oy vey, that’s too early!
SOTD: Paris Venise
Currently reading The Beekeeper of Aleppo with a tissue box near by. And three I recommend from the past month: Fates and Furies (amazing writing and engaging story); and two mysteries: To Tell You The Truth and The Patient (wow!)
Fates and Furies was good. Interesting. Lauren Groff interesting writer.
You smell great !
Paris-Venise is gorgeous and you smell great!
I’m having a really lazy Monday… and the weather (mildly warm with lots of clouds rolling in the sky) is making me feel even lazier.
Wearing Azemour to start this week off 🙂
You smell great today Lucasai (of course).
Thank you!
Trying to pretend like it is a proper warm summer day, I have my space heater on at my feet and am liberally spraying two summer scents, Concentre de Pamplemousse Rose and Limon de Cordoza.
My reading and my audio book listening have devolved entirely into comfort books. I just finished Gaskell’s My Lady Ludlow and am rereading (actually listening to them this time around) all of Austen. Finished Sense and Sensibility over the weekend and am now well into Pride and Prejudice. Also just finished reading Stacey Abrams’ thriller While Justice Sleeps, which was not very good—not much suspense, not a very good explanation for the bad behavior other than the “bad man” theory, etc. And am now also reading, in preparation for my upcoming vacation, Brennert’s Moloka’i, which so far has been surprisingly good (it has an annoying cover, IMHO, so I have put off picking it up–but that’s just me). I have been corresponding with several people on the island in order to make plans for hikes and boat trips etc. (the island is so carefully protected, that to be a sensitive visitor, you really need to “go with a local,” or so I have read). Everyone has been so polite and helpful, and begins their messages with ‘Aloha’ and ends their messages with ‘Mahalo’—I can tell I am really going to enjoy meeting everyone. Only 7,000 people live on the island full time, and there is not a single traffic light to be had. For all my human rights work, I haven’t a clue about the history of Hawaii, other than the most basic about Captain Cook, Kamehameha, whaling, the missionaries, and Pearl Harbor.
When is your vacation? It sounds wonderful.
And that you for the report on While Justice Sleeps, I was curious and will now forget about reading it.
Yeah. I purchased it on Kindle and am now glad that I did so. There is no one I feel I need to pass it along to. I am delighted that she finds pleasure in fiction writing, but . . . Our (like what I did there?) Angela’s books are a million times more charming and fresh!
We are spending a week on Molokai–leaving in about 10 days. I can.not.wait.
Oh how lovely!! Hope you have perfect weather…the kind that does not require a space heater, preferably.
I’m woefully underwatched in Hitchcock, which I thank this CP for bringing to my attention. I watched Psycho when I was in high school, The Birds in college or soon after, and just watched Rear Window this weekend. I loved Rear Window and wish I’d watched it sooner. It truly doesn’t make sense that I’ve seen so few of his films since I love horror, thrillers, and mysteries. But since I subscribe to HBO Max and Amazon Prime, I have access to watch many Hitchcock movies and plan to steadily catch up on his filmography.
I’m wearing Jasmin et Cigarette for the image of the suspected murderer across the courtyard sitting in the dark of his apartment while smoking a cigarette. The lit cigarette is the only way we can tell he’s in the apartment during these scenes.
Oh, and I’m currently halfway through reading The Only Good Indians by Stephen Graham Jones and really enjoying it.
You’ve seen the three best (IMO) Hitchcocks. May I recommend North by Northwest or Shadow of a Doubt for your next one? And I’ll spread some love for Rebecca, which is such a great film version of the book that the recent remake couldn’t hold a candle to it even if it were good (which I understand it was not).
Thanks! Yes, I’ll watch North by Northwest soon, but sadly I don’t have access to the other two right now. Will definitely keep my eye out for them.
Love Rebecca. Can watch over and over.
You must see Vertigo! Will put in another plug for North by Northwest, and it is not his best by any means but I am very fond of To Catch A Thief.
I’m happy those three are all available to me right now. Will plan to watch Vertigo next weekend. I almost suggested it to my partner yesterday, but we’d already watched some long movies and didn’t think we’d be up for Vertigo’s 2hr 10min run time. We did finally watch Malcolm X this weekend, though had to watch it over two days (3hr 22 min!). I had not watched it since high school and he’d never seen it.
I have never seen it! I should add to my list, thanks.
You’re in for a treat! Vertigo is often considered one of his best. I personally love North by Northwest and the lesser-known Frenzy.
North by Northwest is a blast!
Oh – and I have to share my one self-discovered bit of movie trivia. The statue that becomes significant in NxN is also used in the opening titles of Bell, Book and Candle when Gillian’s African art work is used for each character and film maker. It is one of the last one or two shown. Hope I did not *already* share that here – LOL I am always ranting about it.
Really looking forward to Vertigo!
You’re not the only one who’s behind! I don’t think I’ve seen any Hitchcock other than North by Northwest sometime in university / mid-20s. I’ve never been much of a horror fan…but I probably ought to see Psycho someday.
Interesting that when I was in my 20’s I saw Psycho as camp. Fast forward several decades and it seems quite dark and serious in the way Hitchcock plays with law and order themes. I saw it again recently, in June TCM was doing a Hitchcock-fest.
Definitely give Psycho a try someday.
Psycho scared the crap out of me in my twenties! Part of my mistake was watching it alone on Halloween. Couldn’t finish the movie.
Yet another vote for “North by Northwest”!
Yeah, it’s definitely super creepy. I watched The Exorcist by myself as a teenager, and it scared me so much! I had a friend with me watching Psycho though.
Wearing Radio Bombay. As an aside, shouldn’t the DS & Durga perfume be “Notorious O.U.D”?
Book: Park Avenue Summer, a fun, fast read.
Googled your book, got “‘Mad Men meets The Devil Wears Prada” which does sound like a fun read!
I am wearing Chanel No 5 EdP today.
Currently reading Pilate’s Wife: A Novel of the Roman Empire. I just started it. It is a book I purchased a long time ago, and picked it up from the bookcase and started reading it this weekend.
It’s so nice to have a bookcase with plenty of unread books 🙂
Lubin Kismet, from an ebay impulse buy last week. My decant is almost gone, and I saw someone selling a partial bottle for a song. #winning
Gorgeous, and surprisingly good in this heat wave. I’m going to have to move to Canada if this is how summers are going to be from now on.
We’re having heat waves up here too, there is no safe cool place on earth it seems.
Yep, hottest temperature on record in Canada was recorded earlier this summer in Lytton, BC…and then Lytton promptly burned to the ground. It’s been a tough summer up here. Not sure we’re your best bet. 🙂
Oakland CA! It is 12:30 PM. I still have on my sweatshirt, but I turned off my space heater about 30 minutes ago. Weather website says it is 68 degrees here now–must be in the sun.
OK, will have to change my plans lol
I’m such a book slouch compared to you all. I used to read, but pretty much stopped after my kid’s were born. I think the last book I read was Keith Richards Life, and I think that was ten years ago.
Sotd is about to be Orange Sanguine for work tonight.
You will smell wonderful – I need to get my samples thunked and suspect I will find it FBW. I loved that special edition blue bottle with the women in the pool….
Could you be thinking about Clementine California? I have the OS Limited Edition bottle (or one of them in any case) and it’s a very colorful, whimsical tree with hands and eyes.
Yep, that bottle was Clementine California, and I’m not sure I have a sample of that but will check – thanks for the clarification 🙂
I stopped reading for pleasure for over a decade when my kids were growing up. I just didn’t enjoy it. It feels great to again be enjoying books, but I totally remember when it did not!
I’ll join you in the book reading slouch club. It seems really difficult for me to read when I am stressing out about something.
Yes, and it seems like I am always stressed.
Lillyjo, I read voraciously for years and years, then VERY little for years and years after my son was born. So you might go into another phase where you read again, who knows. Anyway, it doesn’t matter!
Aww thanks Robin!
I’m currently a book slouch, having been a truly voracious reader most of my life starting at 4. I usually get my reading mojo back during the summer, but not this year. Too many other things going on. So we can slouch along together!
SOTD Rose de Petra by Stephane Humbert Lucas 777 – a drier complex sort of rose with incense and other woods and flowers, that I now have in my rotation since I am out – OUT – of Mohur Extrait, and it could be that the original 900 bottles are gone gone gone, although Luckyscent has the note that we can ask to be notified when (if) this is ever back in stock. I dithered all spring about getting a BUB of NVME, but I spent my money on vacations and dithered too long…
Oh well, Rose de Petra is lighter and lovely and really more my style that NVME, and when my decant of this is empty I can decide if I want to spring for POAL, which is getting more expensive by leaps and bounds, or get some of this, or something else – more Fille de Berlin, maybe? 🙂
My life since returning from vacation has been an unending full emergency living experience, what with the sick horse and the missing in action horse helpers, and the rain, and the bugs, and my ongoing little health challenges – everyone else’s thyroid scar heals up and becomes one more wrinkle on one’s neck – why is mine still a draining allergic abscess months later, whine whine??!! I guess it means I get to go back and see the adorable surgeon who wrote in his notes – “Ms. R is a very charming woman of a certain age”…LOL.. which just means, I suppose, that he is grateful I am not threatening to sue him for this unhealing wound. I can be very charming when I want to be… in any case, Rose de Petra and air conditioning are taking the edge off my annoyances right now, and creating an aura of comfort and beauty I am grateful for today…
Sending a fragrant wave: your post is encouraging, in that you are clearly powering through some serious concerns, are a ditherer that finds a way to get to your goals, and are a rose lover – I have only realized this year that I am, too. Fille de Berlin, even with its disturbing backstory from M. Lutens, is a delight to me. I also have a sample of Rose de Petra that I have been circling around. Need to move it to the top of the list, I think. I hope your surgery will heal up soon, and that your dear horse will be better, too.
That is kind of you to say. The pony is healing up nicely, the vet said so when he was here Saturday giving her the 4th and last day of IV antibiotics – that she responded really well to the antibiotics and she really was on the mend, and she is a very good old pony, and I really know how to pick them. Horses, he meant. I know how to make a good environment for horses, is what he really meant. This sweet old mare generates more doctor bills that adorable hubby and myself combined (except for the thyroid surgery, of course) so the mare and the vet both think very highly of us. 🙂
Sending rose scented hugs for both your thyroid surgery scar and your horse! Sometimes stress can impact surgery wounds from healing up, so please do your best to not stress yourself.
My favorite spice& rose scent is Black Jade by Lubin.
Glad your horse is doing much better! As to your surgery wound, I know you said the antibiotics helped but I really think you should at least ask about a clotting factor issue. I am not a doctor but have some experience on the blood clotting factor causing wounds to not heal timely.
I am surprised he did not say “Ms. R is a very charming woman of a certain age, and she smells fantastic” 😉
Hang in there meredifay!!
Sending healing thoughts your way!
Lovely cool and rainy Midwestern day here, a break from a two week drought and toasty but tolerable temperatures. SotD Jubilation 25 body cream. Along with a softly lingering scent, it is nicely moisturizing and not at all sticky. I normally like a bigger scent bubble, but I might dab on some more in a while.
I very much enjoyed our week of toasty but tolerable, but we are heading back into 100+ heat index later this week! Oh well.
So far, my SOTD is the scent left on my hands after picking two quarts of blackberries with my son this morning in the back pasture hedgerows. Utterly delightful, but unfortunately returned home to a bunch of voicemails from neighbors informing me that a man had been parked in front of my house with his pants undone and bags of pills beside him, asking about me and walking repeatedly up to my front door. He’s a random stranger I spoke to last week who was asking about a nearby real estate listing, and evidently he’s quite unstable and potentially now stalking me. I just really can’t take any more strain and threat in life — why does it just keep coming??
Oh my gosh Isabella! Did the neighbors call the police?
No, but I did. He was gone by the time we got back, so the sheriff just said to call them if we see him again.
OMG
Just OMG. This is when the police should be called to intervene and social services dispatched!
Oh my, so sorry you’re going through this. Stay safe!
Seriously: in our town you can request a more frequent patrol – if your doors and windows are locked you are probably okay, but I suspect this is someone with a history and hopefully either the police or the social services will know soon what he did.
Oh, no.. that’s sad and very disturbing! Too much uncertainty with a person in that state, I would def get the police involved if you’ve not already.
Yikes. Do you have a camera that you can set up to keep an eye on your front door? And yes, do get the police involved!
I’m sorry, Isabella, you must feel scared and worried. If your town or city has a police unit that deals with people with mental health issues, I would reach out directly to them; regardless, keep making contact with police so there’s a record. Adding outdoor lights is also a good idea, and they’re pretty cheap at big hardware chains. I got a couple of high-LED battery-powered outside lights with motion detectors for my daughter when she lived in a ground floor apartment, and they really worked well! And if you see anything “off”, don’t hesitate to call 911. I had to do that a couple of times when I was alone in our house with a newborn (my husband was out of town on a work trip), after alarming noises, and the officers couldn’t have been nicer. They were very clear that they would rather be called, and find nothing wrong, then not get a call and have something turn out to be wrong. Hugs to you.
I’m sorry you’re going through this, Isabella. I agree with all of the above. I remember being a single mom with a young child, and feeling vulnerable. In addition to the other suggestions, you might feel better with a good can of bear spray on your nightstand.
Thanks for all the kind words, y’all! And Nancyleandros, thanks for the suggestion — I ordered some pepper spray to keep on hand. Probably more effective than my chef’s knife, in a real scenario. 😉
SOTD is Bogue Mem, which just stood out when I opened the drawer this morning.
I’m so bad with getting books read, but I’m in the middle of a biography of Cleopatra by Stacy Schiff that Tim Gunn recommended in a podcast interview with Sam Bee. He heartily recommended it and so far it is very engaging. I need to get it done, as the due date is coming up. Also on my nightstand waiting for me are the last in the Wolf Hall series (which is not so new any more!) and the second in the Book of Dust series. Oh, and “The Power Broker,” which I started eons ago and need to come back to someday. And “Ulysses”…same. I have a lot of books on my nightstand and need more time to read!
OMG, The Power Broker! Such an amazing book. I lived near some of Moses’ public works, and it was fascinating to be in NYC and understand more of what I was seeing. I could only read one chapter at a time, though, because he became such an odious person and the author was so good that reading it was like having Robert Moses in my life. So limited doses was the way to go. If you finish it and like it, I highly recommend the same author’s books about Lyndon Johnson, especially the first one.
I love that way of reading it — yes, there’s only so much Robert Moses that you can take at one sitting!
Monday!
1) SOTD is Bagetelle de Gabrielle edt- sprayed lavishly as a wake up scent!
2) Heat Dome II: The Quickening will be happening this week in Portland- Oy vey!
3) Book right now I am reading (or have read this summer)
Caste by Isabel Wilkerson – deeply depressing
Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman- eerie. It’s NOT Beowulf by Heaney, but damn good.
The City We Became And How Long Til the Black Future Month by NK Jemisin – BRILLIANT.
Groaning at the heat dome sequel from up in Vancouver. No thank you!!!
Nobody asked for this sequel.
NOBODY.
And just in time for the Red Alert report from the world’s scientists, at that!
Bad choice on my part to read that report first thing in the morning. ? Bleak indeed
Here’s hoping we all avoid “Heat Dome III: The Crowening”. 🙂
Oh goodness, please!
This movie series sucks!
I love Moira Rose, but would appreciate no act III. Waving from the Okanagan!
Rain and sunshine have succeeded each other as of much of this very British summer.
In vintage Calèche EDT, probably my favorite sandalwood.
Have not worn that in ages, maybe I will dig it out tomorrow.
SOTD = Fragonard Patchouli EDT
Nice while it lasted. Maybe I’ll join someone for SOTD #2.

Currently reading: book twins with madtowngirl – The Midnight Library. I am loving it!
Today is a day off and I decided to clean my stove, replace the leg saver mats and do a general kitchen floor wipe down. Woo hoo! Done and done and done. The floor is now clean enough to allow the 3 second rule for kids to build up immunity. I am also planning to drop off a few things to a donation center – lots more to do of course but I feel productive!
And here’s help for those who need help on Mondays:
https://www.instagram.com/p/CSXSNLOrbe9/?utm_medium=copy_link
Nice use of your day off!
I’ve put in place a daily 15 min closet clean up. Every day I spend 15 minutes (and I do use my phones timer) working on my closet which has been terribly neglected. I’m tired of being so frustrated whenever I go to my closet. It’s pathetic. Making progress!
That sounds like a plan and doable! I go through fits and starts and will have to put time in to tackle the closets as well. I was also thinking of doing one of those don’t leave a room without picking out something to either keep, throw out or donate.
That’s genius! I might be able to actually do 15 minutes at a time.
A fleeting patchouli scent? It doesn’t sound possible.
8 sprays! It’s an EDT and overall quite light. It makes for a good layered.
Nice work! I will be tackling the floor on Friday.
Thanks. I still have half the kitchen to do and thinking my next project is the hallway / entry way.
It’s Monday and my first day back at work after a five-day vacation at the Beach. To keep into the beach them at least in my nose and my mind, today I wore Tom Ford’s Sole di Positano. My birthday is Friday, the 13th, and it’s a big one, so I treated myself to a new BDK perfume. I doubt if it will arrive by my Birthday but at least it is something to look forward to.
Happy early Birthday!
What fun, happy birthday Filomena!
I’m having the tub and shower surround reglazed today, so it’s stinky in here. I’m reading the Virgil Flowers series by John Sandford and the Fallen Empire series (got the recommendation here) both pure escapism. Wearing a little bit of Woman in Gold.
It’s a dream of mine to have my tub reglazed. Is it expensive?
The bathtub was $350 and the surround was $350, and the cost of a new tub and surround was going to be 3K. It looks great, white now instead of a yucky yellow.
Reglazing is like magic! Enjoy!
Another day, another load of post-trip laundry. The end of Mount Laundry is in sight!
SOTD = Atelier Cologne Encens Jinhae. I was feeling a little under the weather this morning, so a low key perfume sounded like the right idea. Feeling better this afternoon.
Eek. Glad you’re feeling better and yay for the laundry end in sight!
Yeah, today felt kinda Monday-ish.
Oh no! I hope you can get some rest.
It’s amazing how much laundry can pile up after a week of not doing it! But it’s almost done now, whew!
I’m in Akro Dark, from a sample. Liked the start, it’s a dark but unsweetened chocolate, but it went smoky on me. The drydown is wonderful, though.
I’m reading Mike Nichols: A Life on kindle, a recommendation from foxbins. Great book, with lots of film history and random anecdotes about all of the people he worked with. Also working on A Woman of No Importance by Sonia Purnell. I keep skipping around in that one.
I like smoky…that sounds like something I should try!
SOTD has nothing to do with Alfred Hitchcock: Parfums de Rosine’s Clair Matin. Even my own kids commented that I smelled good! And as all parents know, such compliments are rare. I’m remiss in reading books; I have done so much better in other summers. This summer, I just haven’t had the focus or bandwidth, between work, needs of young adult children starting new jobs and moving out, restoration of our house. Maybe that’s enough for now? Have a great week, everyone!
Yeah, that sounds like plenty of stuff to deal with! ?
Posting late. My toddler had been a little bit warm and on the verge of a fever but feeling better and sleeping now.
I missed this awesome poll during the weekend but read all the comments today and had so much fun in doing so!!
SotD = Ashoka all day. Still enjoying the some of it on my shirt.
Aw, hope the little one is better tomorrow!
I’m sure this is all kinds of sacrilege, but I put on Mitsouko EDT tonight, and a couple of hours later thought “I wonder what this would be like if it were sweet” so I reapplied and layered it with Cloud, and I’m not at all sorry. 🙂
