It's the last Tuesday in July. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm still at the beach, and still commando other than a bit of Weleda Sea Buckthorn lotion. Tea at the moment is Upton's Cacao Kisses Colombian Black Tea.
Reminder: on 7/30 we're doing BUB Frenzy. Wear a fragrance that inspired you to buy a backup bottle (or that you wish you wish you had a backup bottle of, or you're thinking about buying a backup bottle). Adapted from a suggestion by chocolatemarzipan8.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: The teapot is part of the Sailor's Farewell collection at Wedgwood ("Blending Kit Kemp's love of craft and simple folk art in a fun and lyrical way, Sailor's Farewell tells the story of a sailor's loved-one waving goodbye on a rock with her scarf flying in the wind. As she waves goodbye, the motifs around the china show the sailor's adventures on the high seas both above and below the waterline. [...] ...crafted in fine bone china and finished with 22 karat gold." $350 at Belk.
I’m wearing Nicolai Vetyver, from a sample. I’ll have to try it some more before I decide if I need a full bottle.
I never did fall in love with that one, but I know many people did!
I liked, but did not love, that one. Used up the sample though!
That teapot is adorable! It’s another scorcher today so I’m wearing Etro Messe di Minuit. It’s like a personal bit of cool stone atmosphere.
It is worth going to look at the entire set, it’s darned cute.
Cool stone is a great description. I always feel like I’m in a cathedral or wine cave when I wear this beauty.
what a charming teapot!
SOTD is OJ Damask – yes, I will want a BUB. I might love it more than Ta’if. Okay, well, different than Ta’if. Which already has a BUB.
More than Ta’if! Oh dear, maybe I do need to try it.
Wow, have not tried Damask yet — please do let us know if it finally wins out over Taif, or not.
Oh dear! I have lost the track of OJs lately but this sounds gorgeous! Can something really be better than Ta’if?
It’s different from Ta’if. It’s not a rose. I tested all of the silk route collection and I knew this one was a winner. It’s bright but not loud, sheer, and I feel like the fizzy joy of champagne sparkles when I apply it. I’m not a summer fragrance person. Chanel changed that with the collection of eau and made me more willing to try for summer hot weather scents but not beachy. Damask, like the silk, was aptly named.
I just spent a good few minutes going googly over that tea set! So cute. But I have already established that I am not ever allowed to own fine china. It would never survive me. Anyway, it was a nice mental break from writing my English paper. I will be so happy when this class is over. As much as I like to read, I do not much like to write.
Angel Muse for me today. I was looking in the closet for something I hadn’t worn in a while, and it jumped into my hand. A little warm and dense for Kentucky in July, but I will be hiding out in the AC for most of the day typing. Yay.
I am allowed to own fine china but I am not allowed to use it frequently 😉
Good luck getting that paper finished!
Thanks, Robin!
Hooray for A/C!
Boo for typing!
I don’t mind the actual typing, it’s trying to figure out what to type!?
Good luck with your paper! You smell great!
Thank you!
This morning, I’m studying the Pantry section of Lyn Harris’s Perfumer H site. The offerings are several temptingly perfumed teas, honey, cucumber pickles, herbed salt, pepper, and an olive oil scented with lemon, bergamot and petitgrain.
Persolaise praised the cucumber pickles in one of his reviews. Its spice mixture was inspired by the Perfumer H Cucumber perfume.
In case anyone likes to experiment with making cucumber pickles, the ingredients list contains the following:
Cucumbers 90%, white wine vinegar, lemon juice, unrefined cane sugar, onions, sea salt, rosemary, lemon zest, juniper berries, turmeric, and peppercorn.
They’re meant to be served with smoked salmon or cured meats.
Yesterday I tested Snowdrop, which I liked very much, but Atlas is still my favorite so far.
Thanks for sharing! I love (addicted to) pickles! Sweet, Bread n’ Butter, hot pickles, half-sours. Here’s a blog post from Spice House, with so many delicious pickle recipes.
https://www.thespicehouse.com/blogs/news/easy-pickling-tips-and-recipes?utm_source=drip&utm_medium=email_broadcast&utm_campaign=8_21_2020_pickling_vegetables
Thanks! I was looking for a good refrigerator pickle recipe a couple of weeks ago, and Google was less helpful than usual. Now I have one!
Sure! I love this Spring Abundance bowl recipe from My new Roots…. (Robin, I hope it’s okay to post).
https://www.mynewroots.org/site/2014/04/spring-abundance-bowl/
Of course!
Thanks — that looks great, SmokeyToes!
A friend just sent this recipe:
https://thetakeout.com/recipe-half-sour-cucumber-salad-1847271979
I am curious to try it since it looks good, but the buttermilk is making me hesitate. I don’t like buttermilk very much.
That sounds great!
Since they include sour cream as a substitute, it looks like you could use anything else that you like better for a touch of creaminess, such as yogurt or mayonaise.
Hmm. I am getting a bumper crop from my cucumber plant this summer; I hadn’t thought to use them for pickles. I usually only make red onion fridge pickles (which I can’t live without), but I’m going to branch out and try some of these recipes. Thanks ST!
Sure! 😀
Vee, I once had a bitter melon pickle in India that was out of this world! It was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. I think of it fondly to this day, at least 16 years later.
I don’t think I’ve ever tried bitter melon. Will look for it at the green grocer.
Oh, I think I need bitter melon in my life!
Here’s my refrigerator pickle brine recipe, adapted from Chez Panisse. For 1/2 pound of veg:
2 cloves of garlic
1/8 tsp black peppercorns
1 bay leaf
2 cups white wine vinegar
1 cup dry white wine
1 1/4 cups water
1 tablespoon kosher salt
1 fresh dill frond
Boil it all for one minute and pour over your to-be-pickled veg, and then put away in the fridge. I use this for my surplus green beans through the summer and they turn out *so good*.
I know what I am doing later on this afternoon! Thank you!
Do any of you pickle fans like the South Asian-type pickles? The first time I ever had “mixed pickle” I was transported to flavor-seventh-heaven. The sour-hot-earthy-floral taste is my desert island spice. I’d pick it over chocolate.
AND another project for this afternoon!
Ack, my reply to Vee above was meant as a reply to your question, MossyBerry. D’oh!
I am going to look for the bitter melon variety – good to know it exists. There are so many and so well-stocked import groceries now.
Ohhh I’m lemming that teapot! So darn adorable! My SOTD (and another backup) is RL’s Safari. It’s drizzling out, and this is perfect for the misty weather.
I’m looking at my bottles, turns out I have several perfumes with backups. I could do probably two weeks straight. I ‘might’ have a bottle problem! 😀
Coffee consumed, I’m about to do a short 30 minute yoga practice to loosen up my back.
2 weeks — I’m impressed!
You smell wonderful; I got a BUB of Safari right away after finding and testing two partial bottles from an antique mall. 🙂 LOL, my sister and my husband were with me (he spotted them, saying, hey, here’s some perfumes…) and after we left I gave a couple big sprays and they were gassed-out.
? Ohh, it’s hard to resist a few hefty sprays! I’ve done the same..
I received my package with Bond no. 9 Chinatown yesterday so it is no brainer for me what I will wear after shower 🙂 Chinatown has been a love for me since it first came in early 00’s.
my first drug of choice was Chinatown.
? I’m smiling at Your comment
The teapot Robin posted the picture of is ADORABLE. Beautiful I want one so bad!!
🙂
I’ve mentioned how much I’m enjoying the Scents of Ancient Egypt series sponsored by Roxana Illuminated Perfume. Here’s a video interview with Dora Goldsmith on the scents of mummification:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_sLPhgKf-M
Thanks for the link! I am sure listening to this will make the window-washing tolerable:)
Great idea!
Thank you for the link!
Enjoy!
Wearing Sel de Vetiver, and realizing that I am perilously close to using it up! Another 10mL or so gone…It’s got about 5 more applications left.
The teapot is adorable–one of my favorites that you’ve posted, Robin. But! BUT! I went to the website just to look around, and they have espresso cups in both this pattern and the mythical beasts pattern. SO tempting. SO expensive. Cute demitasses are a bit of a weakness. Do I need any more expresso cups? That’s a resounding NO. Do I want them? Heck, yeah!
I also went to the website. I am almost thinking of buying at least the cheapest something from the farewell sailor’s line… Like the expresso cup… But do I really need just one expresso cup when I don?’t even drink my expresso at home??
I have a single espresso cup that I use to hold granola for my morning yogurt, so I can sprinkle it on as I eat. I also use it to hold toothpicks for olives when I host parties. There are uses….
I’ve also served a medley of chocolates/small cookies/little candies as dessert in little demitasses.
I want to come to a party at your house! 😀
I also love the other side of this teapot, but since I was doing sea creatures I did this side. Maybe I will do the other side one week 🙂
Hello perfume friends, I’ve been offline since the move on 7/16. Unfortunately things haven’t gone well, the noise level at the new house is unbearable to me and we are going to have to sell and start over, after 2 years of planning and anticipation. I feel crushed with embarrassment and despair over the situation. With the crazy market it’s not sure I can find and afford another house I hate myself for making this expensive and difficult to fix mistake. We are working hard to fix landscaping and maintenance issues so we can try to resell next year at a decent price. I’m emotionally and physically exhausted and it will be another year at least before there is any resolution. Fortunately my husband is willing to do a lot of the work and I can go back to San Diego on Sept. 14 to rest and lick my wounds. I realize this is a first world problem but it’s painful nonetheless. It certainly has put me off house buying.
Oh no, sorry to hear about your problem. Noises are tricky and difficult to notice when buying the house:( It is good that you have a supportive partner, though. I hope all goes well with the resale and you’ll find a place where you can actually live. I am sure it will eventually happen:)
Thank you for your kind words, I appreciate it.
I am so sorry that after waiting and anticipating for so long, you are having to reverse course. I hope that the shame you’re feeling is soon overtaken by love and the help that comes from unexpected places at times like this.
Thank you allo.
Oh no cazaubon! I’m so sorry.
Don’t blame yourself, it’s the markets fault. So many people were backed into a corner when having to buy a house this past year. I hope you are able to sell and get a home you love.
We were only allowed 30 minutes to view the home and on that day/time the noise level seemed okay, then were immediately launched into a bidding war and had to pay the deposit within 6 hours, no time to fully assess or reflect. I did not want to buy a house under those conditions but was desperate because we were in very expensive Airbnb accommodations. At least next time we can take it more slowly as we have a house to live in while we look.
I think it’s really unethical how the realtors and some sellers have taken advantage of this real estate situation. ( it’s one thing to make a buck, but quite another when you are essentially bullying someone to make it)
I agree, it is an abuse of seller’s advantage. They do it because they can.
Oh no. I too am very noise averse. I totally get it. But better to make the decision now and know that the discomfort is something you are working to change, then to try to stick it out being miserable and trying to convince yourself things are okay. Moving is so hard. I really feel for you.
I am so sorry too that you are feeling embarrassment and despair. Those are tough. But this was to be a solution, long in anticipation–and if the noise is unbearable then it is not a solution. Period. It’s a pick yourself up, brush yourself off, and start again situation. I tip my hat to you.
Thank you OF. It is very clear to me that this house will never be comfortable so better to get out now than dread coming here for six months a year and grit my teeth every year.
My husband thinks I’m nuts but he is literally half deaf and not sensitive to noise so he does not understand. But he has accepted this is not something I can live with. I am sleeping in the garage because it is the quietest place in the house. Not something I am willing to do long term.
Is it the outside noise or the house noise? My house is very small and even the appliances humming keep me up at night. I’m very noise sensitive myself.
I feel so bad you are sleeping in the garage.
It’s the outside noise so unfortunately not fixable.
Oh no, I am so sorry. I am glad you can at least head back to San Diego.
I do not think that is anything to be embarrassed about! It is a horrid market right now.
My sister is going next week to see the house she already purchased and has never seen (several people looked at it for her and she did get an inspection before making an offer) and I am keeping fingers crossed for her! I am sure she never even considered noise issues.
I thought I had made a really good choice: great location, walking distance to the beach, in a nice friendly neighbourhood. Who knew it would go so wrong. I really hope your sister is happy with her house!!
So sorry about the noise situation, it’s a real nuisance, I understand you completely, hopefully you will find your real dream house next time around, you’re not at fault, it’s all part of sometimes bitter experience.
Thank you, it has indeed been a bitter experience.
I appreciate your telling this story, because it might help someone – I hope you can quickly get back to the right house for you. No place is going to be perfect, but noise would be something that I’d have huge problems with too.
Thank you, I hope my story can help others at least.
I am sorry to hear the move has not been everything you hoped it would be. In time, I’m sure things will work out.
Thank you missionista.
I hate that things went so sideways for you, Cazaubon. I have made my share of mistakes that were expensive to fix, but so worth fixing. It’s far worse to try to put up with something that makes you miserable.
Thank you Sapphire, I am going to do my best to fix it!
Oh no! I’m so sorry to hear that things went terribly wrong with your house. On paper it sounded pretty great!
I hope that the fixes go well and that you are able to find something much better next time around.
It’s a great location otherwise, such a pity. 🙁 Thank you!
So sorry Cazaubon. ? Sending you big bear monster hugs! Nothing worse than something much anticipated turning into a disaster. Especially when it’s an extended project. Like your husband I am half deaf and generally oblivious but I have friends very sensitive to sound and I know hard that can make things.
Yes, the disappointment was massive. Thanks for the hugs!
I am so very sorry to hear this. 🙁 I had noticed your absence and am glad you posted. Moving and buying a home is very stressful and especially right now w/ the market being so crazy. Please be kind to yourself. We all have made good and not-so-good decisions but sometimes it’s truly hard given the information we have at the time too…saw your comment about only having had 30 minutes to view it, etc. Sending you great big vanilla hugs!
Thanks for your kind words & vanilla hugs. I slathered myself with Kyse Benjoin Vanille today.
Oh, I’m so sorry you’re going through this! Of course you’re feeling flattened but you *will* get through this and emerge somewhere good on the other side! It sounds like you were treated really unethically by the seller/realtor who were out to capitalize on the hot housing market at your expense. Sending hugs!
Thank you so much Isabella.
Cazaubon,
It may feel defeating and embarrassing right now, in your heart. Similar experience here, I worked hard to get certified for working in a new state. Got a dream job-two hours from my new apartment right by Southie. I was back in 6-8 weeks. Felt like you say, but I felt better once my feet hit home turf.
I can relate – looking forward to recovery at my San Diego home this winter. Feeling good about booking my ticket today.
Oh no cazaubon! I’m so sorry to read this! I’ve often thought that it would be nice to “test drive” a house for a few days to see if it is a good fit. We can do this with automobiles, but the largest purchase of most people’s lives comes down to a few minutes walking through a house. Do NOT feel embarrassed for making this decision. Life is all about learning from our “mistakes.” Give yourself credit for realizing right away that this is not a sustainable living situation for you.
Thank you madtowngirl. I plan to camp out in a lawn chair on the property for a couple of hours next time. I will not be rushed!
I’m so sorry you are going through this! Your home is supposed to bring you peace! I hope it all works out well.
I spend a lot of time at home, it is my refuge. That’s why this feels so hard. Thanks for your good wishes!
Oh no! I can understand feeling embarrassed but I feel there is no need to be – you had expressed misgivings about the realtor and I think this is something you should report to whatever board there is that takes in consumer reports of unethical behavior. I’m glad your husband is supportive of your experience and is willing to do the work to prettify the place for the next owners.
The whole realtor experience has been very negative for sure. Unfortunately what happened to me is standard operating procedure here right now in this market. I will be much more careful next time!
I am in Orange Sanguine, my recent discovery from the purgatory basket. I got a 200ml bottle in a blind swap in winter and disliked it on the initial spritz. Then I sprayed it again on a hot day and it was perfect – simple, joyful squeeze of oranges. Not sure if I ever finish the bottle, though.
During my holiday I have been wearing really simple fragrances (Orange Sanguine, Aroma Tonic by Lancome and Sunrise by Lancaster). Nearly anything else has been too much for my brains and nose. I hope both of them will become calibrated soon.
Orange Sanguine is great — lasts all of about three minutes on me but such a juicy, delicious three minutes!
It’s a three- minute wonder on my skin too but if I spray it on clothes it lasts a bit longer. On the other hand, crappy longevity may mean that I can actually finish the bottle. ?
Aroma Tonic is really good.
It’s wonderful in the heat, and you smell great!
That teapot is so adorable! The price, however, alas… I’m in Santal Blush today, which I usually reserve for the cooler months but we’re having an unseasonably cool and grey day today thanks to some monsoonal cloud cover. It smells more cedar/floral and less sandalwood/creamy than I remember, and I may need to transition to Santal de Mysore later since it’s the latter bouquet I’m craving.
Wouldn’t it be nice if we all found that teapot at a local yard sale?? Ha.
That would be fine. It is most appealing!
Along with bottles of vintage Vol de Nuit!
Yes!
Scent: Perris Monte Carlo Arancia Di Sicilia. I thought I had emptied my sample, and was obsessing over it. Found the sample with just a bit left, and I’m happy to get to try it again. My perfume game has been off lately, and it’s great to be enjoying scent.
Tea: Coffee earlier, and now Upton Lemon Drop Tea
How nice to find a little more!
Sotd is Vol de Nuit – I just got a bottle because I wanted to experience it, knowing of course that it’s a shadow of the original. I can close my eyes and imagine it in all its glory.
BUB of the day is SL Chergui because I was able to get several SL bottles at my perfume store’s garage sale.
I have a bottle of the vintage parfum and wonder how much of its glory may have faded — it’s heaven in a bottle, regardless!
I’m sure it’s still heavenly!
I’m sorry I didn’t just pay full price for a BUB when it was easily available in my parts. Now I have a quarter of a bottle left and I only use it in absolute emergencies as a comfort scent!
I love the idea of using it in absolute emergencies and I’m definitely going to try it next time I have one of those 🙂
More often than I’d hope 😀
I can completely see using VdN in emotional emergencies! I’ll have to keep that idea in mind.
Peach Blossoms, Gardenia, Tuberose, Patchouli, Cardamom. Chypre base. Recipe for my killer scent today!! That’s Chinatown of course. What is interesting is that I am awaiting my sample of Nightingale and according to the Zoologist website that one is a plum blossom chypre. I love gourmand chypres with peach, cherry or plum blossoms.
Bond No 9 Madison Avenue and on my second cup of English breakfast tea.
SOTD is Pineward’s Fanghorn, and again I am really impressed with what they are putting out. I get fir needles and wet earth, as promised, along with some sweetness that makes me think of spruce needles. What I find impressive is that this is so specifically fir and spruce needles, as opposed to pine needles (which I find have cooling menthol-like effect that I’m not getting here). Pineward is very good at firguring out and recreating the precise differences between various trees. Fanghorn is not a contender for Forest&Juniper/Cypress, but if the hunt was for Forest&Fir, this would be the hands-down winner.
Drinking the Twinings Earl Grey I got from sister in exchange for celestial’s peach. I’m already dring this more oftan than the peach, so I count it as progress toward clearing the tea cabinet.
Wow I just checked out their website and looks gooood!! I love that they offer 4ml cutsie bottles for $20. Ans yes! I love the smell of pine needles and forests.
This house sounds right up my alley! I suspect my discretionary budget is going to be sorely tested…
I really need to check this out! I love pine and forest scents.
I don’t recall if we’ve had this conversation before – I came to find out that Pineward is potentially made with accords that are not IFRA-compliant. I have a sample set but have not yet tried on skin.
I also don’t recall if we discussed it here, but I did see that on their website.
In Haute Provence and girding myself for a week of VERY LOUD as painters are starting to prep our house for painting.
I “hear” you – we’re having our roof replaced this week. Yikes!
My utmost sympathies to you.
Painting house twins! Although I don’t work from home so don’t have to deal with the noise.
Today’s SOTD is Paradise from Nest perfumes. The citrus is nice but I wish it was a bit zingier.
Layer?
Went to the eye doctor so I can get a distance prescription so I can maybe learn to drive (yes I can get around pretty well by public transportation in Denver but we live in Colorado now and we want to go soak in hot springs). I hope the dilation wears off in a few hours because it would be nice to go to the amusement park/water park this afternoon.
Scent of the day–Inoui which I do have a backup of. I’m sure we’ve done it before but there should be a discontinued day project.
Dilation is uncomfortable – hope it wears off soon.
I’m in Paris-Deauville for an early lunch with my mom, then home to do some yardwork. It never ends …
I’m of the opinion that “garden” is a verb rather than a thing one ever achieves.
Penhaligon Amaranthine from a generous NSTer sample. This is quite yummy.
Front entry concrete poured this morning. My husband didn’t like the original plan and cut the size of the entry concrete by almost half on our side of the duplex. I was willing to do same size as our neighbor and use planters, but he was insistent. I think he was right. As he said, we just moved from NYC…last thing we need is more concrete…
Sounds like fun project – good that you guys agreed! I’ve lived with the previous owner’s doublewide asphalt driveway for a long time, and I have wanted to tear out half but it’s one of those domino-effect projects!
I prefer to do the CP on Friday’s, but joining with all those who have more that a few BUB’s! SotD is Je Reviens. I know two things about it, which are that the mid-80’s reformulation was not good, and that the vintage bottles hold up very well, for I have about 5 different ones. Today’s 3 spritzes are from a “daisy bottle” tester and I am just swooning. Very hot and summery today, and when I go outside to make sure my potted plants are well-watered, throw in some compostables, or just walk around the house, the heat brings out all the best of JR. I think there is a good sandalwood in this one, but honestly I can’t pick out any notes; it just smells wonderful! I think I’ve picked my Friday scent, and I am going to actually *count* the back-ups and report.
5 — you are back up for life, right? I have 3 or 4 of Diorissimo and that is my best coverage.
I dnt believe I have ever gotten a back up..a repurchase yes..no backups. Ok nevermind..I did purchase two bottles of vintage perfumes that were disco’d…I guess that counts lol. Oh and a backup of a lotion…lol..good thing too as it was disco’d.
It definitely counts!
Finished the odds and ends cleaning and will get my parents later on today. Not looking forward to the kindle thing but it is what it is. Been up since 6:30 this morning after going to bed at 2am. Wearing Lyric today and about to put out the white Gardenia candles so the house can air out a little more.
Good luck!!
It’s still hot here, but I am walked, watered, and wearing D600 which is very powdery in the heat. Usually it is more flowers. I love it but don’t have a backup bottle. I tend buy backups only if it is something I am sure will be d/c’d.
I don’t think I have ever really bought a backup bottle in the sense in which it is intended here.
Hello all!
1) SOTD: a shower of Sunshine Mimosa body mist followed by the perfume spray. Very uplifting, very fun- great for doing the BIG PUSH CLEAN today!
2) Youse guys, construction dust gets EVERYWHERE! So loads of vacuuming last night and this morning. Did dusting of walls and windowpanes. Deep cleaned the bathrooms. Am about to go ahead and use a Swiffer mop on the floors. Then a fancy lunch – fried shrimp & salad- and maybe a post prandial nap in the backyard!
Agree about construction dust! Thank you so much for the super helpful Ikea cabinet info yesterday. Much appreciated. Good luck with the big clean!
Congratulations on finishing!
Sunday’s huge thunderstorm has meant flooding in many areas, some roads are still closed.
Baiser Volé EDT today, very sparkling and green, I have a BUB.
But this evening I was in the mood for something gourmand but summery, so it’s Flagrant Délice, a lactonic almondy fig, like it very much but no BUB.
I do not have a single perfume with me that I’m in the mood to wear…both of yours sound so good!
But at least you can smell the sea air in all its glory. Fragrant Délice is very different from any other fif scent, I think it’s the almond instead of the usual coconut.
This town smells as much like beach fries as sea air, but yes 🙂
*Flagrant
It’s another hot day but today I opted for Dusita Splendiris – a powdery violet & iris combination that at the same time feels quite refreshing.
You smell amazing. Perfect for the crazy heat!
It’s my Friday. 9 hours to go, can’t wait! I’m wearing L’ombre dans L’eau. I have the cute 30ml bottle and wish I had a bub so I would wear it more.
Enjoy Lillyjo, you smell summery.
Ohhh that’s the prettiest looking one from Diptyque. I never smelled it yet (and will one day) but I love the swan decorating edps, edts and solid perfumes!!
L’Ombre Dans l’Eau is a beauty — I need to get it into the summer rotation!
And I have 2 travel refills and thus never reach for my beloved as proper bottles are so much easier to reach (I keep refills on a little ledge right at the back). Clearly I need to do something about this!
Woo hoo for Friday! I love those diptyque 30 ml bottles, they are so cute, that’s what my Tam Dao is. I wish they offered all their scents in 30 ml.
Yay for Fridays!
Racing by to say that I’m wearing Palissandre d’Or from Aedes de Venustas today.
Waves at Gaynor racing by!
You smell great!
Haircut done! Woo hoo, it feels pretty great! I wore Lancome Iris Dragees to my appointment.
I’m 2 weeks in with my 2nd vax but still wore my mask inside. All the stylists have been double vaxxed so that gave me a bit of a comfort level at least.
Yay haircut! I got my first in nearly two years last week and I feel oh-so pretty. Definitely felt a bit risky and weird even with masks and vaccinnations all around but how long is a nubile single woman supposed to go around with a raven’s nest on her head, I ask you?
I would say indefinitely if you can train a real raven to sit there!
You smell great, love Iris Dragées!
Azzaro Wanted Girl…flowers, patchouli and vanilla…oh my! Nothing groundbreaking but it scratches my orange blossom and vanilla itch ever so nicely. 😉
Sounds like a win-win!
A few more days of holiday before I am swallowed up by studies again! Currently wearing an unlikely combination of Casimir and SMN’s Mughetto. The spicy greeness of Mughetto gives Casimir a really compelling twist. I know it sounds awful…maybe I will come to my senses in a few days and realize it IS awful but for the last few days I have kept sniffing at it and the combo has probably saturated all my winter jackets.
As for BUB – only Tubereuse Criminelle (scored this splendor at half price) and Jolie Madame which I was besotted with for some time and came at a good price. I have hardly made a dent in my perfume collection without BUBs so…
Jealous of your 2 bottles of TC!
Enjoy what is left of your break 🙂
I’m in Assam of India. Getting down to the last couple of rows of elephants.
Today is taco Tuesday and I’ve had carnitas cooking in the crockpot while I was at work.
I got an email from my daughter’s summer camp and apparently there were wicked storms that came through last night. There were many fallen trees and 3 cabins got hit. Luckily all the campers and staff are safe and no one was hurt. My college daughter sent me a couple of pictures and I was literally brought to tears. My parents live within a few miles of the camp and also had a tree across their road but they and their house are okay.
I’m sorry your daughters had to experience this. And you had your parents to be worried about, as well.
Thank God, all is well. Your girls are strong!
Thanks AnniePerfumes! They are strong- and resilient!
I saw those storms on radar last night. Thank God everyone is ok.
Yes, thank god! Huge trees were completely uprooted. How scary for those little campers.
I didn’t watch the weather last night or this morning so I was…blissfully unaware? Probably better I didn’t know or I’d have been worried sick.
I didn’t know that was where camp was, otherwise I would have worried for you.
Ha! Thanks lillyjo.☺️
I’m glad your folks and your girls are okay. It must have been quite frightening for everyone involved.
Thanks Nancyleandros! I think about the youngest campers, the 9&10 year olds and this being their first camp experience, frightening indeed.
Glad your family is safe!
Thanks cazaubon! Me too!?
It is pretty dang hot. The mosquitoes will be dining on me shortly.
SOTE: Patchouli oil. BUBs x 1,000,000.
Later: Philosophy Unconditional Love with Sun Ripened Raspberry body spray. Yum!
Can anyone recommend a Honeysuckle perfume? I’m up for linear or complex. I have a fabulous lotion that begs for a Honeysuckle perfume.
And what the hey, is there a pretty Iris lotion out there?
Thanks and happy day!
Absolutely: Goutal Le Chevrefeuille – best honeysuckle ever.
Yep.
Thanks! Have to check it out.
Is Goutal still available in the US?
Seconding the recommendation for Le Chevrefeuille. Best blind buy ever! I also love Santa Maria Novella Caprifoglio, which has a ‘standard’ citrus/neroli eau de cologne profile but with a big dose of honeysuckle in the mix — super refreshing if not as photorealistic as the Goutal.
Thanks, Isabella! I think I have that SMN. If you hadn’t reminded me, I would have forgotten to shop my own perfumes.
I like Prada Infusions d’Iris lotion and found it on ebay in a gift set with the fragrance.
Thanks, allo. The perfume has been on my list, too!
The best iris lotion is the Frederic Malle Iris Hand Creme. A little bit goes a long way, at least for hands ?.
I was going to mention this but I think it’s (sadly) been discontinued or at least I haven’t been able to find it lately.
I needed a back up tube.
The online store has it, just sayin’ ?
Frederic Malle site ?
Thanks! I will try to hunt it down.
Online store!
Thanks! Hello, Mr. Malle!
I meant the Frederic Malle site ?
I’m in Amouage Meander, and my heart wishes I liked this more. My wallet however is quite happy. I love it on paper, but not on my skin.
We’ve had a lot of thunderboomers this afternoon, but not a lot of actual rain.
Thinking about Calypso today; her shoulder replacement surgery was this morning. I hope it went well! Hugs to you C, if you’re reading this! ?
I just recalled it was rescheduled. I hope it went well!
SOTD = Sonoma Scent Studio Bee’s Bliss
Honeyed spring flowers. A comfort scent for me. I despaired of getting more (I have a travel spray) and I wasted no time when SSS opened under new ownership to get a full bottle so I am all set!

Today’s owl gave me a smile. Thanks I needed it!?
Thank you!
Very groovy owl.
Cute owl!
SOTD is LVEB Intensement from a sample I forgot about, inspired by Hajusuuri from last week. Good stuff! Wish it came in a travel size.
