It does plenty: Seventy-five percent of emotions generated each day are due to smell, according to scent market research cited by retail solutions provider Mood Media.

That is such a *weird* assertion to make. 75 per cent of all emotions in the course of a day? Envy, confusion, sympathy, awkwardness, excitement? There are a lot of emotions! And there are a lot of senses to stimulate those emotions!
Don’t get me wrong: I am obsessed with scents (obviously). But I think for the huge majority of people the huge majority of the time, the sense of smell is an also-ran compared to sight and sound. When I’m feeling things while at work or watching a movie or going for a walk, my sense of smell is a bit player.
