It's Monday. (And today and tomorrow are travel days for me, so posting will be light.) What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm smelling cheerful and awake in Lush 25:43 for the 1972 song I Believe (When I Fall In Love It Will Be Forever).
Reminder: on 5/14 we're celebrating Stevie Wonder's birthday (a day late...he turns 71 on Thursday). Tell us your favorite Stevie Wonder song and wear the fragrance to match.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Goooood morning everyone. First day of work at my new location! I’ll share an office with two other people now, where I used to be in a more open space, so going with something safe and pretty, Keiko Mecheri Camellia.
Good luck on your first day at the new location!
Thank you!
Hope that your first day went well!
Hope your day at the new location was good!
Hope your first day went well, and the rest of the week will, too!
You smell great! I hope the new office mates are great people.
Randomly chose Cartier Le Baiser du Dragon, gardenias floating in a pool of amaretto and crème de cacao. (Among a lot of other things, I mean. But that’s it’s basic structure.) Not quite ready to put away the cool-weather scents; that’ll come soon enough.
It has been stupidly cold here the last two days; I’m pretty sure the weather doesn’t know what month it is. Hang on to those c.w scents!
I’m in Shalimar light. The blue juice. I like this version better than the original?(don’t hate me) of course it’s discontinued and bottles cost an arm and a leg on eBay.
I spent most of yesterday in front of the computer working on a project. It’s the last weekend I’ll have to do that.
Not much on my agenda today except a much needed haircut. And maybe a target run.?
I loved the one right before that, the Legere or whatever it was!
Enjoy your Target run. I had a lovely if too quick Ikea run yesterday, my first in over a year.
Ohhh, and IKEA Swedish Meatballs! 😀
I discovered a new favorite dessert, vanilla ice cream with a drizzle of Cloudberry Preserves. Simple but incredibly delicious.
https://www.amazon.com/Wild-Cloudberry-Preserves-14-1-ounce/dp/B07HP3DZ83/ref=pd_ybh_a_101?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=N2RW5ZXP9G0RYV3MCGXX
Oh, yum. Thanks for that link. I love cloudberries.
Let me know what you think!! It was so delicious!
It’s in the Amazon basket. I first had cloudberries in Helsinki, Finland on a glorious post-college Eurail / ferry trip back in 1981…
I had cloudberry jam in Norway, clotted cream and scones. It was delicious, sweet tart and that stunning color. MN has a very large Scandinavian population and Minneapolis has the Swedish Institute, a huge mansion turned museum. A small but wonderful gift shop has cloudberry jam, along with lingonberry, another treat.
The Swedish Institute is incredible. I still think about a blue and white porcelain stove I saw there about… 12 years ago?
Yeah, I was reading reviews about the slight differences between the two.
Ooh, IKEA, did you get any of the Byredo candles?
I did not even see them! I do not know if I was in the wrong place….did not look hard because assumed they were long since sold out.
We like what we like the perfume. No judgement from me!
SIGH. “… what we like IN perfume”. Where was my brain?
You have a bottle of Shalimar Light? Well, you’re a smart cookie with great taste! D)
😀 I mean…
It’s soooooo good. As much as I love Shalimar. I may actually prefer Light as well! You smell perfect.
I debated between Givenchy III and Byredo Pulp. Byredo Pulp won. I haven’t worn this one much, and don’t remember liking it, but I really am enjoying it today. Possibly because I didn’t over spray, as I tend to do. More lightly applied, I don’t feel overwhelmed.
Pulp, yum!
Pulp is so good!
House cousins, or whatever it’s called, in Black Saffron.
I was in Black Saffron yesterday!
Pulp is great!
Good morning! I’m wearing lutens fleurs d’oranger, in the most recent configuration. It seems like they removed most of the candy sweetness and left all the funk! It still smells great though.
How interesting, I would have thought they’d have done the opposite!
I wish they had!
I love FdO on others, it’s straight up B.O. on me. 😯
Sometimes I get pure b.o., other times its sweet and nice. Who knows? 😀
Your description is actually making me want to try that SL! I seem to amp up sweet notes anymore.
Wearing Hermes Brin de Reglisse.
Thanks for all your comforting and supportive words this past weekend, regarding my mother’s health. They were all very uplifting and appreciated. ?
My mother enjoyed all family visitors and we all felt very safe, since everyone was already fully vaccinated.
I made a batch of coconut macaroons, thanks to SmokeyToes recipe. Delicious! I am planning to make another batch this afternoon, since none was left from yesterday.
I am having my second cup of coffee with maple syrup and a dash of saffron.
I am also getting ready for my return to the office tomorrow, my first day since the pandemic started. I already heard from some of the people who started last week, that among other things, there are crazy issues with the use of the elevators, kitchens and bathrooms. Double masking is also a burden. The protocols are overwhelming and in some cases ridiculous. We can only remove our masks for 10 minutes to eat lunch in our cubicles or offices. Not everyone eats that fast. I have decided to go out to the near park to have my lunch there and then take a walk. It will be less stressful and more enjoyable. I am also considering getting a mini portable microwave and refrigerator to keep them by my desk, while the situation improves. Any recommendations for a brand will be helpful.
Happy Monday, everyone!
10 minutes? I certainly don’t eat that fast!
That is extreme, for sure!
Very good luck to you at work pl67!!
Thank you, Robin!
Lunch and a walk outdoors sounds perfect! Good luck returning to the office!
Thank you, SmokeyToes! I am glad the temps allows to be outside now.
Thank you, also for the recipe! The macaroons were so tasty and family loved them! ?
You’re welcome! Happy they liked them!
Too much caution is just nuts. Glad you have a Plan B for lunch.
I agree. I think most of the rules are creating unnecessary stress. I just mentioned few, but the list is pretty long.
So glad you had a good day with your mom.
I’m not looking forward to all the challenges of being back in the office–like masking but also like technology (that we don’t currently have) for a hybrid work situation. Best of luck today–at least it’s going into more pleasant weather for outdoor lunches.
Thank you, Springpansy! It was a lovely weekend.
It is going to be good to be back in the office, in my case only twice a week. It makes work flow faster and easier. I don’t really mind about how insane the protocol are for now, except the use of the bathrooms. One person at a time when the building is at 50% capacity is very inconvenient and the lines pretty long. But this too shall pass!
Coconut macaroons! Yum.
10 minute lunch sounds crazy.
The outdoors solution sounds nice though. Thankfully its spring/summer.
Very tasty macaroons!
I am trying to make my own transition smooth and safe. No complaints about being outside. In fact happy to walk away for an hour from the stress and work! ?
Jiji – I am happy to forward the recipe, let me know. ldetrich at the land of yodeling dawt com. 🙂
Oh yes please ?I just sent you an e-mail!
Just sent the recipe! Enjoy!
Oof, that sounds intense! Definitely condone going outside for a proper lunch break. I’m not sure yet if I’ll be required to go back to my office this year, but if so I’m planning to get an electric kettle for low-key, germ-minimizing tea making in my office.
Sending hopes for ongoing comfort and good spirits for you and your family!
Thank you, Isabella!
I hope you keep working from home for the rest of the year. Your own electric kettle is a good idea! The less contact we have with devices in common areas, the safer for us.
Better go outside for lunch.
Absolutely!
Happy to hear you had a lovely weekend. What a relief!
Work sounds challenging, to say the least. The bathroom thing would be a big deal to me. Everyone after morning coffee ☕.
Keep that umbrella close by. I’d take the walk in the rain, even.
Thank you, Annie! I had a very busy weekend, but it was worthy. I got your emails. I will answer later today.
I wish I could also take a portable restroom with me, lol! I just have to be patient! ?♀️
Nobody I know can eat their lunch in 10 minutes, unless it is a very small smoothie with a very large straw!
Good luck with your return to the office.
Thank you, Jalapeno! Wonder if they are trying to encourage a quick snack, instead of having real lunch. Perhaps, we can use the other 50 minutes to sleep? ?
Happy First Day Back, Jalapeno! Will you pick a special “power ‘fume?!?”
Um, I’m not going back to an office. Perfumelover67 is, brave soul.
Lol!
Ooops – tangled my threads!
Thank you, MossyBerry!
I am thinking about wearing FM En Passant. Let’s see when I wake up tomorrow, if I still want to wear it.
Good morning.
Where has the weekend gone?
I am a few days late to the party but I am celebrating Chanel no.5’s 100th! birthday by layering the shimmer body gel with the edp.
Made myself a cup of lavender heavy herb tea.
I wore no 5 yesterday and enjoyed every minute of it.
Yesterday I wore a cute little sample called the The Now. I got a big ole’ blast of coconut on application, then it turned into a beautiful coco-floral-y scent that was surprisingly long lasting, considering the small sample size. Really quite lovely.
Today I am going to wear Terreno Dolce. Also, more rain today. What else is new.
Ah, that is making me think I should wear Terracotta tomorrow.
Vacation is over and now back to the daily grind. Spent all day yesterday and some time today in no 5. Wearing no 19 edp. I needed something that had some teeth to it. Was hoping to get a little more done during Vacation but that’s ok.
Hope that means you got more rest 🙂
Hi everyone!
Its been a while ??
I am enjoying a staycation this week.
So what has happened in my life…
Mostly work. But all the hard work is paying off.
Saw some good movies (Nomadland was beautiful)
I Bought:
0 new perfumes
But 1 pair of new hiking shoes (terrex free hikers) and I loooove them
Waterpaint
And 1 non stick cooking pot for i want to make a rice dish that asks for a non stick cooking pot.
The sun is shining and I am sitting on the terrace of a pub right now (terraces finally opening again), so someone is bringing me beer (Urquell pilsener mmm) and life is good!!! ☀️?
I hope everyone is healthy and feeling good..or at least feeling better than before.
I have some catching up to do here.
Let me know if there is a new perfume release I really need to check out (has anyone tried the new Dusita?) ?
Oh and my SotD is Prada…infusion d’iris
Btw I dont think I will return to office this summer. I still havent seen most of my new co.workers in real life.
The Netherlands is lagging when it comes to vaccinations (at first they did not pre order enough stuff i guess, and now they dont have enough personel to vaccinate..
Also, the covid numbers are no longer crazy alarming but still a bit worrisome if you’d ask me.
I also dont like the stories about folks (also younger people) suffering from ‘long COVID’.
So working from home it is. And distancing..and masks. Luckily my parents had their first vaccination! 2nd one coming up soon. Yay!
Glad life is good Jiji, and glad you are able to keep working from home if vaccine rollout is lagging! At least your parents are halfway there, that’s great. Do you have any sense at all of when you might be able to get one?
Probably june or july for my age group.
But friends of mine (in same age group) who have underlying medical conditions are getting their first shots this week.
Sounds like you will do a Persian rice polo.
Yup persian rice! ?
(tried it in another pan but i am not skilled/patient enough to make that work haha)
I lined a pot with baking paper, that worked okay, because I also had only regular pots.
I thought about that as well,
but I was looking for a new pan / new size for other purposes anyways. ?
Lucasai has tried the new Dusita. He said that it’s a straight up LotV perfume.
Morning all, my SOTD is Sikkim by Lancome. It’s described as an Amber Floral but on my skin, it reads as dry floral/leather/chypre, along the same veins as Bandit, Halston Couture, and Azuree.
I slept in, I’m about to crack open my work computer (and have a second cup of coffee).
We’re having an anti-racist seminar for work, and have been assigned to read How to Be an AntiRacist, by Ibram X. Kendi. The book is interesting but I’ve only just started reading it. I plan on heading to the gym for lunch time for a quick workout.
Oh, if I forgot to respond to anyone re: sharing a cookie recipe, please email me at ldetrich in the land of yodeling dawt com – and my apologies for the delay! Specify which cookie recipe you’d like (or, all of them??). 😀
Mr. SmokeyToes and I watched Sweet Bean, a 2016 Japanese movie A baker’s (Masatoshi Nagase) business takes off when he hires eccentric 76-year-old Kirin Kiki who specializes in making dorayaki pancakes. It was nicely-paced, marvelous characters, and beautiful visuals.
The movie sounds really good. Would it be appropriate for an 11 year old to watch? Sounds like it could be.
I have not read How to Be an AntiRacist yet, but gave the AntiRacist baby book to my bother and sister in law for their kid. Have talked about unconscious bias with my kid and those were some very illuminating conversations!
I think so. I don’t want to spoil anything, but there’s one relationship in particular that’s so moving, involving a younger member of the cast.
this film sounds great! Adding it to my list
Over the weekend I watched the lion witch and wardrobe with my two little ones, and older movie but I love it (and also the book) and last night I dreamt I was eating Turkish delight.
Ahhh, one of my favorite movies! And I love Turkish delight!
I frequently have dreams about food. There is a recurring one in which I walk into a building (it’s a different building each time, so I never know what’s coming), and I suddenly find myself in a shop, surrounded by case after case of the most gorgeous pastries. I’m filled with happiness and wonder as I slowly turn, appreciating all of the beauty and care that’s been poured into each magnificent creation, and knowing that I can eat to my heart’s content. It’s one of my very favorite dreams!
I am going to track this movie down — I love those pancakes. Thanks for the recommendation!
The visuals are stunning. I have celiac, so I can’t have them, but I love the smell. One of my favorite things to do when we lived in SF, was to go to Japan town and look at all the stunning shops and beautiful pastries.
Oooooh, I have a mini splash bottle of Sikkim that I haven’t opened yet. If it’s along the lines of Azuree, it’s going to be a winner for me.
I think very similar to Azuree, less leather and moss, but deliciously good!
Did someone say Azuree!? You will smell fabulous!
I am wearing Japanese Cherry Blossom by The Body Shop and currently drinking a second cup of English breakfast tea.
I had 3 cups of English breakfast today, and then a Starbucks iced coffee…too much caffeine!!
Good morning Y’all,
Taking Kenneth Cole White for Her on its 1st test drive today…..MEH. It’s a super clean baby powder musk, and that’s about it. Sometimes I crave that cleanliness so I will find a use for it. Paid $10 for it and it’s totally worth that! 🙂
Glad you got a deal at least!
SOTD No 5 L’eau. This is a no-brainer for me, but this morning, it smelled surprisingly soapy. It’s more settled and elegant now.
As much as I enjoy music, I’m never very good at pairing songs with perfume, so I’ll probably be wearing whatever my arm reaches for this week.
Happy Monday, everyone!
I love L’Eau!
That’s a pretty one. I wore that to bed last night and I got soap from it, too.
I’m in an old favorite that I picked up at Anthropologie several years ago. Soap & Paper Factory – Marine. It’s not a typical marine fragrance – no saltwater, just fresh citrus/basil/anise. I don’t have to be this under-the-radar while working from home, but I didn’t sleep well at all last night and this + a cup of tea feels soothing.
You smell great and perfect for this cool before warm Seattle day.
I hope your fragrance and tea are the perfect combo to ease you into the day and carry you to what will hopefully be a much better sleep tonight.
Thanks, allo. I hope so. I need to figure something out so this doesn’t keep happening.
Have you considered taking a magnesium supplement for better sleep?
Thanks, Jalapeno. I do take one: Natural Vitality: Calm
Wish I has some better advice for you. ?
I love Soap and Paper Factory!!! They are from my neck of the woods. I bought a bottle of Owl for my mom and have been buying their hand creams for years.
Look who showed up ?! I still think it’s a three-eyed owl ?! Hope you’re well.
???
Hi CM8!!
?
Sorry you are struggling with sleep. What a necessity is! There are neurologists and sleep disorder doctors that you might want to check out. I don’t know much about it, but cognitive behavioral therapy is often used to help. Just some ideas from a fellow perfumista whose circadian rhythm needs work.
Hope you are ?
I’m in CdG Ouarzazate today, plus Orange Verte hand lotion. The green notes of both are amplifying each other nicely, but the orange in OV seems out of place next to the incense in the Ouarzazate. I’m surprised I like Ouarzazate as much as I do. I was expecting the sage and spices notes to create a sharpness, but the incense and woods mellow them so that the overall effect is rounded. Of the whole CdG Incesnse series, I love Zagorsk, Kyoto, and Aviganon, and I like Ouarzazate quite a bit. Jaisalmer was too spicy for my taste, but I can see the appeal it would have to someone who likes spice forward scents.
Thunking some orange spice black tea, which is working well with the OV hand lotion. All scents in harmony this morning. 🙂
Zagorsk and Kyoto are my favorites out of the whole line.
I love both that you are wearing. I bought CdG Ouarzazate “for my husband” a few years ago (and strangely, he ran out of it sooner than expected; cannot imagine why 😉 ). Replaced it with Jaisalmer–which I love (I mean my husband loves) as well. And those Hermes orange vertes are addictive!
I have a bunch of mini Orange Verte soaps and lotion bottles from hotel stays and using them makes me so happy. Mr. Vee is always embarrassed when I ask for a full set of new minis each day, but 1) no way am leaving without the max number of luxury minis I can legitimately take, especially Hermes minis; 2) It is a legit ask because the hotel charges the same amount each day, so why should I get a set of minis the first day, but not the second? and 3) the hotels the fancy minis in part to build loyalty, and clearly it works on me, so they don’t care if it costs a few extra minis than their average guest.
? I’ve done exactly the same thing at a stay where they had Labo Rose toiletries. I popped them in my luggage everyday so they’d restock. My husband was also embarrassed. Get over it sweetie, it’s Labo!
I 100% support you in this!!! Have definitely snagged the upscale toiletries before.
1) As a hotel guest, those soaps and lotions are there expressly for your use;
2) You are making up for all of the folks who pay no attention to the toiletries;
3) Using them brings you joy; and
4) Because HERMES.
If I could get my hands on hotel toiletries like those, I’d do it in a New York minute.
A sample of Ortigio Sicilia Ambra Nera shampoo, from a hotel in London but found by me in a basket of samples at an American B&B where I stayed was my White Rabbit. So, yes: nab those samples, peopl!! 😀
I think I’ve worn each of the incense series once, but last week I wore Kyoto for a second time, and realized how much I really like it. You’ve moved me to explore the rest of them again.
I love Jaisalmer. It’s my favorite of the entire series. I don’t find it spicy (go figure); instead it strikes me as being very quiet and calming. In any case, I bet you smell terrific!
I’m in vintage Coco from a very generous NSTer.
Yesterday I had a wonderful day with my husband and younger son celebrating Mother’s Day. However, I had put in a Mother’s Day gift request/order (so to speak) for the travel spray coffret from Zoologist, but hadn’t noticed any enticing packages arriving for my husband in recent weeks. My Mother’s Day gift was a book! (Actually, I started reading the book last night, Intelligent Love (on Clara Park who basically single-handedly forced doctors to abandon the myth of the “refrigerator mother” as the cause for autism, and raised her daughter with little support or guidance amidst really bad science and medicine, etc.), and I couldn’t put it down.) Errr… so I put in a Zoologist order myself yesterday, and now a coffret is winding its way to me–Musk Deer, Camel, Civet, Bee, Nightingale, plus a sample of T-rex). 😉 😉
Just looked up this book on Goodreads, and it sounds amazing! Going on the library list for sure. Thanks!
So far, I have been riveted! Here’s a review from WaPo: https://www.washingtonpost.com/outlook/in-helping-her-daughter-bloom-a-mother-changed-perceptions-of-autism/2021/04/29/f245d69c-8032-11eb-ac37-4383f7709abe_story.html
Hmmm vintage coco, you smell great!
Sometimes the best gift is the one you get yourself! ? Hope you enjoy your Zoologist, those are some great choices! But the book does sound absolutely amazing too!
Not sure if you’re on reddit but Victor Wong had an AMA yesterday. The moderator will pin it so it doesn’t get lost in the shuffle.
Happy Monday! Trying Mizensir Poudre d’Or and Jimmy Choo Iris Crush today.
Poudre d’Or is a powdery floral w/ vanilla…lots of tiare and jasmine…quite nice.
Iris Crush is a lipstick scent w/ iris and powder…lots of neroli.
Both also have vanilla of course. 😉
Any preference?
Maybe Poudre d’Or…but both are nice. I am trying to be more selective when I buy FBs b/c I do like sampling the abundant new wares so much that I don’t make much of a dent in my existing collection…do you feel me??
You are really selling me on that Jimmy Choo…
Wearing Vetiver Tonka today since it still hasn’t really warmed up here yet. I am so sick of wearing sweaters, not to mention the cooler weather scents. I just want summer to be here, already! I want to be able to wear all my summer scents!!!!!
Well go ahead and wear your warmer weather scents – you might find you enjoy them differently in cooler weather.
Lush cousins with Robin in Orange Blossom. I needed something cheering and unchallenging and this fits the bill!
Oh, and forgot to mention that today is my son’s first day back in in-person school, so in a weird way it’s his first day of kindergarten even though there’s only a month left in the school year. He was so excited this morning! I’m doing my best to hide my Covid anxiety and less-time-with-my-son heartache and celebrate alongside him. It’s a short school day, though, so we’ll get in plenty of cuddles this afternoon.
Good luck, mama Isabella. You must be a good one.
2nd that!! Hope he had a wonderful day and school and that it was everything he hoped for, and hope that you stayed calm 🙂
Yay for your son! I’m taking mine to kindergarten screening for the fall tomorrow, and I’m nervous but he’s excited. I suspect my nerves have everything to do with letting him grow up.
Good luck, mama.
That Lush is so good, you smell great.
Had my first Moderna shot today which I am kind of chuffed about.
SOTD is Quel Amour, another Goutal marvel.
Congrats on the vaccination!
I am wearing Jardin Blanc by MPG a lot lately btw, it made me think about you and wonder how you are faring!
It’s wonderful isn’t it?
I am ok, very tired but that seems perfectly understandable. Enjoying what I am doing for the most part and very fed up with working from home.
Yup, same here
Tired, fed up with being at home most of the time. But also enjoying my new job!
Last months were crazy but hard work paying off, we are really moving forward.
How is your job coming along?
Vaccine twins! I’m off to get mine very shortly!
Yay for vaccination!
Woohoo for your vaccine shot!
Hurray for Shot #1!
Congrats on Shot #1!
Oh yay!!
I am wearing Eau de Memo. Basically spending the day cleaning my house. I think I have been ignoring a few things lately since I knew no one was coming to the door anyway. The dust bunnies were keeping me company during the lockdown, but it is time to go it alone.
Vacuuming twins today. My cats are shedding something fierce right now.
🙂
4160Tuesdays Meet Me On The Corner, really nice and fresh. Sadly it disappears fast, so I need to reapply more often.
Love their names!
I’m wearing Youth Dew Amber Nude today.
That’s a perfume unicorn! ?
SOTD = Zoologist T-Rex
Love it!

lillyjo, the special packaging for Bee is that there is a transparent over-wrap with a honeycomb pattern and the box is bright yellow. My BUB is in a black box with no over-wrap.
In other news, yesterday, for about a mile, I was stuck behind a bright yellow-orange car that looked too clean and sleek to be a NYC yellow cab. We finally stopped at an intersection where I had no choice but to look at it. It was a brand-new Mercedes Benz with customized plates. OK, if I bought a car with my bonus, I sure as heck would choose a different color (but who am I to judge?). The only good thing about it is you can spot it from afar.
Hey, I figured I’d mention that I made it to the LUSH near me recently. Lots of empty space on the shelves there! Looks like they might be having supply issues. But I was able to grab small bottles of the Rose Jam and Dirty showergels.
The one near me was also pretty empty and you are right about the supply issues.
One time I had to rent a car and the only one available was bright yellow! I felt really conspicuous and self conscious in it.
Gosh, I just love special edition bottles. Cool that you have that one.
Hi everyone! Popping in to the only place I think would understand my sadness…it seems that Frederic Malle Iris hand cream may have been discontinued. It is out of stock everywhere I look. It was my perfect luxury and I’ve yet to find anything that compares in scent and texture.
Does anyone have any alternate recommendations for a rich, non-greasy, moisturizing, great-smelling hand cream?
Jo Malone has a small collection of hand creams but it’s not going to be in the same league.
Hi Gi, I love this hand cream too and when FM online and Nordstrom didn’t have it anymore, I bought a couple of tubes from Neiman Marcus online. One of them is back ordered which means it might never come, but if it does, maybe we can work something out). Feel free to email me at l e s l i c o r t h e l l
aaaaaaat geee male
If you make the splurge for a JM lotion, I recommend the body cream–it is a good “weight”. Not the same as the Malle lotion in a tube, but feels luxurious. And, NB, a product I discovered years ago through Birch Box (does the company even still exist?) is Number 4 L’eau de Mer–shampoo and conditioner both have a lovely iris-y scent. I fell in love with the scent long before I tried FM Iris hand cream–which to me smelled as good as those hair products 🙂
Oh no! I hate your perfect hand cream is discontinued!
Olfactive Studio Rose Shot for me today.
Suddenly there is 27*C today!
Big change! I hope you’ve recovered!
Racing by to say that I’m going to feel luxurious today in Bois des Iles.
You certainly smell luxe in Box of Eels!
I’ve been reading through people’s posts this morning, and feeling extremely grateful that I was able to retire at the end of last year. My SOTD is Le Temps d’Une Fete, a favorite that I don’t wear very often because it kind of wears me. But it’s gorgeous and elegant – far more gorgeous and elegant than its wearer here. 🙂
Nah, you’ve got this!
You do smell elegant!
Estee Lauder’s Beyond Paradise (the first version) for me today. Like it, don’t love it. I don’t think it lives up to expectations, but it’s fine.
You smell: “fine!” I glomed on to BP when all the bottle changes started happening, and it was super cheap on the ‘Bay. I do enjoy it, but it is not something I reach for. I don’t think I’d ever not want to have it, so that’s something, and I think the bottle is very fun.
Wearing Infusion d’Iris today. I’m very thankful having just received my first vaccine, so I’m taking it easy now!
Congrats on the jab! Hope your side effects are minimal.
Thank you!! I hope they are minimal too.
Congratulations on Poke #1!
Thank you Jalapeno!
Congrats on Shot #1!
Thank you, h! It’s a good feeling to see the light at the end of the tunnel!
Yay for your first shot!
Oh and you smell great!
Thanks Kelly! I just wanted something light for today.
Yay!! Love reading when people get their shots.
Giving Musc Ravageur another shot today because I feel like Mr. Teebear would like the top notes (he has a hidden weakness for orange and cream sodas, which is what I get a lot of from the opening) so I am trying to see if I can let it “grow on me” since I did quite like the dry down.
Not at all convinced yet, but less offended than I was on first wear at least.
Finally got a solid workout in today after 2 weeks of feeling massively unmotivated and just walking for hours instead to burn off some energy, so I feel proud!
I read Cirque du Soleil is on its way back, at least for the Las Vegas shows. This is good, no?
It is! Two Vegas shows are trying to open for July, as social distancing requirements will be dropped in Nevada once 60% of the population is vaccinated, and two of the touring ones in November and January (respectively set for the Dominican and England.)
Those latter ones are wishful forward thinking to be sure currently, but crossing my fingers that those countries *are* able to safely welcome them and have the audience come in by then!
You’re motivating me to work out! I need to hit the hotel gym tomorrow….it’s been pretty dead every time I walk past it.
You can do it!! I finally got off my lazy butt today and did some HIIT training, and feel way better for doing so.
(Of course wait til I wake up tomorrow with jello muscles but still!)
I spent the day in Brocard A Cup of tea 5 O’Clock, still faintly detectable on my wrist, it really is an Earl Grey tea, not very complex but I have a soft spot for it; this evening I sprayed Réminiscence Patchouli, I’ll have to remember that two sprays is plenty with this one.
Rem’s Patchouli is the biggest, dankest patch perfume I have come across so far.
It’s huge indeed, it was only the second time of wearing it, lesson learned ?.
How is your mother’s health evolving?
She’s now at the rehab/PT/OT facility. She was moved there from the hospital last Thursday. It’s too early to see any progress in her physical condition, though.
Thanks for asking. I appreciate it.
That makes me want to sniff it ha!
Song of the Day: https://youtu.be/f_X5A-BYjO8
It’s another Monday for sure.
SOTD = back in Opium EdP. As near as I can tell, my bottle was manufactured in 2008. Smells good to me even if it isn’t the Perfume Godzilla I remember from back in the olden days.
?great song. You smell great!
Thank you! ?
I always like your song of the day.
Thanks Aurora! I’ll probably have a couple more this week if things work out.
You smell wonderful!
Thanks!
You smell super good!
Thank you KellyC! Taking advantage of the cool snap while I can.
You are smelling so good!
Thanks Gail!
Pete Willis on guitar! I saw this concert, but Phil Collen had already taken over. Love it!
Mariah Carey did a remake. Don’t ever listen to it, unless you are wearing Angel Nova.
Because they both stink! Lol.
So, how do you really feel about it? ?
Not likely that I will seek out that remake… Mariah Carey isn’t my style.
In Iris Rebelle today and love it but wish it was a bit more rebellious and would stay around longer. I clearly need to head back for another 8 sprays!
LOL! I also found it kind of light.
Yes for 8 more sprays of that one! Love it!
A perfect day here, sunny, not too warm, bit of a breeze if you get too hot in the sun. I’m wearing Acqua Viva, the illustration of the perils of Too Much Perfume: I had a decant of this and wanted more, but didn’t want (or need) a full size. So I bought a travel size at Fumerie, but was still using my decant. Then, sometime later, I went to Fumerie again and noticed that the travel sizes were in stock. Completely forgetting that I had one already, I bought another, and then came home to find my untouched original. Good thing I love the stuff.
Hahaha! Like you said, good thing you love it!
“The Perils of Perfumistas!”
Still working through some samples and decants. Thunked Jasmine Nuit today. I smell great but I don’t think I’ll need more now that my sample is gone.
Got some horrible news last week that’s left me kinda out of it. My best friend in NM found out that her mom (who my hubs and I also adore) has stage 4 liver cancer. She’s only 58. They’re giving her 6 months to live. Just so shocking. It’s so far progressed that there’s really nothing they could do. They can try chemo but it would maybe only give her an extra month or two. She hasn’t been feeling great the past couple of months (cough, nausea, weight loss) so they’ve been doing tests and some of the blood work came back wonky which indicated they needed to do a CT scan and they found a tumor taking up basically her whole liver. And it’s also spread throughout her body.
And to top it off my bf was supposed to get married in Breckenridge this December- a small, intimate winter mountain wedding- but they’ve cancelled it. They’ve thrown together one in NM for the 27th so her mom can be there hopefully (she’s going downhill fast).
Anyway sorry for the bummer but that has really shaken me the past several days. Her mom is so good to me and we talk often so I’m sad for myself as well as extremely heartbroken for my bf. She is an only child so her parents are everything to her. ? I hate cancer.
Oh Kelly I’m so sorry, it’s a horrible illness, hugs.
I effin HATE cancer.
I am so sorry. That is a lot of sadness. 58 is way too young. I am really sorry.
How devastating–so sorry.
Ach. Very sorry to hear that. My sympathies to you and your bestie.
Thank you, I just hope I am a comfort to my bf. I sooo hate how she’s hurting ugh.
If you are listening to her, you are being a tremendous comfort.
Your shared love for your bf’s mother will continue to be such a gift and comfort to her.
I am sorry you’ve had to face this – I hope your friend will be able to share her marriage with her Mother!
It means sooooo much to her. She immediately cancelled the other wedding as soon as she heard and threw this together. She’s been with her fiancé for 10 years so her mom is like another mother to him as well. She started crying on the phone with me a few days ago and said. “I can’t get married without my mom.” ?
Fingers crossed for their wedding, and of course for her mom…
This is so sad, kellyc ?. I hope your bf’s mom can have a pain-free journey as she navigates this devastation to her body. Stay strong for her and your bf.
Thank you so much, I am definitely trying to be strong for both of them!
Oh man, what a sin. Sending so many hugs to you, cancer sucks.
I’m so sorry, Kelly. Just being there for your friend is helping her immensely. Sending hugs!
I’m so sorry to hear this, KellyC. Great, big hugs to you.
This is very sad, and I am sorry.
Hating cancer right along with you.?
I am so sorry, KellyC. Sending comforting hugs
Sorry, KellyC., this must be heartbreaking. Wishing you, your husband and your friend and her mom, peace and comfort as you navigate the coming year.

SotD: Mahora – oh how I love it. My 50mls is <50%, so I got wacky and bought a NIB from the "Bay" this weekend. Here's hoping it smells as good as the one I have. Chilly weather here. It seems to be holding off those mad cicadas. We are in prime Brood X (ten) country.
Here’s a song to match to your SOTD: https://youtu.be/JIrm0dHbCDU
Nice!
That works – I forgot to even try for a song for that one!
Today I wore Tobacco Vanille.
Tom Ford strikes again!
