It's Hump Day and the World Day for Safety and Health at Work. The swapmeet is still open! What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm still out of town and will probably be commando much of the time until I get back home. Fragrance this morning is nothing but a bit of Weleda Sea Buckthorn lotion.
Reminder: April showers bring May flowers...whatever the weather, wear a spring floral on 4/30.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Elizabeth & James Nirvana Bourbon is lingering from last night. It is a simple vanilla with wood, and I find it very comforting. I’ll put on something fresher as the day heats up into the 80s here!
For the NSTers in NJ – if you have any recommendations for fragrance sales associates at the Nordstroms in Short Hills or Menlo Park, please let me know. I usually shop online, but I’d like to start working with a SA, especially someone who has already earned the respect of a NSTer. Thanks.
SOTA is Covet bc I couldn’t stop thinking about it after seeing stinker_kit’s comment below
You can email me. I’m the queen of Nordstrom ?.
I can vouch for this statement!
LOL. And I will recommend my La Mer SA because I now only deal with her for perfumes. I couldn’t be bothered with the perfume SA.
In Grand Chalet – totally on CP! Because I recommended it to someone in another thread and was reminded how much I liked it.
You smell great! It’s on my wishlist
Mine too! I love the Linden flower.
Me 3!
It is on my sample wishlist.
Another beautiful picture, Robin!
Lilacs are in full bloom in my area. I enjoy the scent, one of my favorites, especially late at night when I take my doggie for his last walk of the day. It is so relaxing!
I was looking for my sample of Vilhelm A Lilac a Day, but I couldn’t find it. I think I thunked it last year. So I am wearing Pacifica French Lilac.
We will be in the mid 80’s today. I love hot weather, but it is 59 degrees right now, so that drastic change, at least for a day is a bit overwhelming. I will go outside at lunch time for a long walk in the park to enjoy the temperature, the flowers all over and an the iced coffee I will grab on my way.
Happy Wednesday! ?
I took in a nosefull of a neighbor’s lilac yesterday on my walk. So wonderful! I really want one in my yard somewhere.
They are absolutely gorgeous! I enjoy my walks more when I come close to any of those trees.
Earlier this morning I had noticed my neighbour’s lilac is blooming. Will have to go have a sniff later on. You smell great!
Thank you Gail!
Enjoy your lilac sniffing time!
There are two very large lilac bushes–trees really–in my neighborhood, and they have been in bloom. I stand underneath them, pull down my mask, and breathe in the lilac-y goodness! There is nothing like that scent!
That scent is intoxicating! I see some people breathe in the lilac scent when they stop by the trees. I don’t see that happen to other scented blooming trees.
I miss smelling lilacs in Spring. They seem to be found only in older neighborhoods and towns in my area.
?
I’m in PdN Odalisque, which I’ve worn before. I didn’t realize it was so LOTV forward. Perfect for the CP, although right now, magnolias are in bloom. Unfortunately, I don’t think I have any magnolia scents.
I looooove Odalisque. You smell wonderful!
I sniffed a magnolia blossom on my walk today. Love the creamy, yet not sweet fragrance. Bright but not really citrusy. It’s hard to describe.
No SOTD yet. I need something that will keep me company today. I have gifts for all the teachers and counselors in our union, and I will be dropping off goodie bags to every school in our district–about 25 schools with over 600 educators to receive gifts! I’m not really sure how long it will take. I get lost driving around the neighborhoods sometimes. 😀 I’ve been working on this project since the fall. It will feel good to get them out to people. Hope they like it!
Wow, that’s amazing! Good luck with the deliveries!
I got help paying for them with union money, so it’s just a gift of time on my part. It’s been such a hard year. I wanted people to have something tangible to know that we’re still all a community, working together, even when it feels so isolated.
That is so so sweet of you. Wear something energizing, or that gives you focus for all the navigating!
Wow! This is awesome!
That’s fantastic! Good luck with the drive & deliveries — they’ll be so appreciated.
That’s amazing! I hope they appreciate it!
Good luck with the deliveries! I’m sure they’ll love it!
That’s such a wonderful thing to do! Best of luck with your deliveries!
What a great idea, you’re like Santa Claus.
What a fun project! Enjoy the deliveries. Best part.
That’s a wonderful thing to do. Thank you!
That is awesome! I am sure they will appreciate and enjoy those goodies!
Thanks all! I managed to only get turned around twice. 😀 I went with Nostalgie to keep me company. It still smells good.
Glad to hear that your grand delivery project went well today! That was an excellent idea.
In the perfect cannot make a decision about what to wear fragrance. SJP Lovely, a little lavender, a feeling of white flowers, though you would be hard pressed to name them and that wonderful creamy thing going on that I also smell in Covet.
I adore both Lovely and Covet. SJP really knocked it out of the park when she started her line of fragrances.
I really need to check those out.
Have you tried SJP’s Stash? I hear so much about Lovely and Covet (which I agree are both great), but I haven’t tried Stash and I never seen anyone mention it.
I will attempt to answer this. Lovely is not hugely projecting but so beautiful to wear. Covet is a bit bolder and lasts longer with chocolate and geranium leaf persisting all day. Stash is bold and loud and the only time anyone has ever complained about my perfume in public I was wearing this. I over sprayed and threw on a big scarf and ran into a coffee shop, when I opened my scarf, Stash came rolling out and the other customers were a bit dismayed. Apply with a light hand.
Good to know! Boldness aside, do you find Stash to be as well crafted as Lovely and Covet?
Covet has a lovely Cashmere and teak wood drydown, it’s exquisite.
I’m wearing Scent Trunk’s
April 2020 release. I was worried that it was really saffron heavy at first, but it’s mellowed into a really nice spice scent. I think it would be perfect on a cold day.
Of course, it’s supposed to get to 86 degrees today. Oops!
Wow, 86!
Wearing Montale Crystal Flowers today. I got this after johanob mentioned it.
How do you like it? I think the name is great but I am leery of Montale.
I’d describe it as fun and casual. It’s fairly linear but definitely not over-the-top. There is rose but is well blended with the other florals, and is slightly powdery now after 8 hours. To me, it’s a safe blind buy.
Like Petunia, I am leery of Montale. I think the bottle looks scary but you can replace it with a word the rhymes with weevil.
You just talked me out of all Montales!?
They are hyped all over YouTube. I’ve tried a few, but have yet to find one that has held my interest.
I kind of like the bottles. Ths metal canisters remind me of Rive Gauche.
I’m wearing Shalimar Philtre from a split clarissa organized. I like it a lot so far!!
It’s extra special because we discovered we live only about 15-20 miles apart, and had a nice chat over email .
Oh how nice!
Still in PdN Le Temps d’une Fête from last night. Not sure what I’ll go with today, but I should be able to find something for the CP…probably En Passant, good for a dark, rainy day when the lilacs are starting to bloom.
We are expecting that weather tomorrow…but now I am too far north for lilacs, I think. There are still tulips & daffodils here.
My tuberheaux stage continues. I’m in Gucci’s Bloom Profumo Di Fiori. Whew! Glad I don’t have to type that twice! While the original Bloom did not move me, I enjoy this flanker because of the addition of ylang and the ‘solar’ notes. Nice work by Mr. Morillas.
Ah, that makes me think maybe I need to try that one if I ever go to a mall again…
Dame Ginger Lily today—probably my favorite floral from Dame. Simple but spicy and pretty.
Even though the end of the school year is still 6.5 weeks away, there’s a flurry of extra “stuff” right now. I’m still enjoying my students, but I really need this year to hurry up and end.
Hope the weeks fly by…
A good, spicy floral sounds like A Good Thing.
Warm enough today to break out the Jardin Sur le Nil. I’m hoping to thunk my bottle this summer. I’ve only got about 10 mL left, so it can be done…
I love that one, you smell great!
Did a short blog post today while wearing Theorema. Still a little tired from my Covid shot with a headache and sore arm. I have thunderstorms headed my way and making sure everything that needs charging is charged. I am debating on if I should go the Kyoto route or maybe the Shalimar route today.
Kyoto seems like a great thunderstorm scent. 🙂 I wanted to love Theorema but it was so sharp to my nose.
Two spring florals in Soivohle Lilas et Narcissus. This is so, so gorgeous.
I have not smelled that one, but I bet you do smell gorgeous!
That is a lovely one!
Scent of the Fleeting Moment is Demeter Honeysuckle. Lovely.
I saw hundreds of Violet-green Swallows on my walk yesterday. So pretty! So fast!
Wow, I didn’t know swollows could be violet-green. My lastname means a “swollow” bird so it caught my attention.
SotD is Nishane Nanshe.
Today I could register my first covid vaccination appointment. According to schedule my year was supposed to start registering on May 5 but because I declared a will of being vaccined in January, the process was slighlty sped up for people who did the same.
I’ll be having my first shot on May 26.
Congratulations!
Oh good!
Woo hoo! The date will come soon enough!
Huzzah!
That’s great news!
Hello all, my SOTD is Roger & Gallet’s Fleur de Figuier, fresh, fruity, effervescent, citrus and greens. I’ve layered it with the body oil for longevity, I so adore this and it’s perfect for today’s warm weather!
I mentioned to Mr. Smokeytoes that yesterday was Grant’s birthday, and received a mention on NST. Civil war history is his favorite time period in American history, and Grant is a favorite historical figure of his. Because Grant worked in a tannery as a child, Mr. Smokeytoes SOTD was vintage Fahrenheit, by Christian Dior.
Mr. SmokeyToes is home today, received vaccine #2 and isn’t feeling well. Smokey is happily climbing all over him. so cute.
Sorry for Mr ST! Resting and some cat love is the perfect remedy.
Oh, and I forgot a shout out for a new hair product for curly-haired ladies. I just started using Camille Rose Honey Hydrate Leave-in Conditioner. My dry dehydrated curls have shine and bounce, and the smell is amazing!
It’s a mixture of honey, burnt brown sugar and vanilla. Intoxicating, it’s almost edible, it’s that good.
Glad that ST is looking after Mr Smokey!
I did not know Grant worked in a tannery! But I have the Chernow bio on my to-read list, so I will know that eventually 😉
Kevin loved the bio by Chernow. Let me know what you think!
I will, but not necessarily soon — my reading list is very long!
Baccarat Rouge 540
off to my Italian lesson, will read comments later. Ciao!
Ciao! Molto Bene!
(Ok, now we have exhausted my Italian.)
?
Scherrer EdT, so I am wearing something flowery at least. I think I will need a bottle of this beauty.
Made summer rolls for dinner, they were a bit wobbly, but tasted nice.
Scherrer is wonderful! I have a mini of it and some other green chypres–Fidji and Vent Vert. A nice trio with subtle differences.
Trying Ellis Brooklyn Bee today from a generous NSTer. ?
Rum, honey and vanilla…wears close to the skin…will see how it unfolds.
rum…honey…sounds like you just need to add ice!
SOTD is Memo Italian Leather. It’s cool-ish and sunny here today, and the tomato leaf note in IL is just perfect for the weather.
Ummm tomato leaf nite sounds so gooood and ahhh so italiano!!
Hello, everyone!! Today I’m in Tango – yes again. I just don’t have a huge collection right now (I’m working on it:)) so it is not like I have a huge selection to wear something different every day for the next month… But my collection of samples is expanding. I was testing Enchanted Forest yesterday and it is definitely FB worthy. It starts with an almost tart, very loud note of berries, less sweet than Mure et Musc Extreme. What happens next is very unusual. Enchanted Forest then turns into a very “foresty” fragrance. I smell the trees, bushes and mosses. But everything is so beautiful I really felt like I was really in the middle of the woods!! Amazing
I love Enchanted Forest. Sweet black current with patch and foresty notes yum!
Tango is pretty too! You smell great today!
Thanks a lot, I enjoyed it too vert much 🙂
Try very hard never to compare your collection to anyone else’s, because it does not matter! We love to hear what people are wearing even if it’s the same thing every day.
Awww, Robin You are very right!! Thank You
Seconding what Robin said. No competition here, one of the things that makes NST so great!
Don’t worry about size. Perfume is meant to be worn and loved!
I want to know which samples did not work for you!
Well for example The Land of Warriors 🙂 but it would be nice to buy that gorgeous red bottle for my Father one day. Also as much as I just LOVE the swan princess and was so impressed when discovering the enchanted forest, I thought Bass Solo was maybe the weakest of all 4 Vagabonds however I only sampled it once and am eager to give it another try.
It’s ☔ RAINING at last, so I wore something heavier, Fleur Oriental(e), I’m correcting the French, fleur is feminine, but anyway it’s an old school scent, very good and I recognize the MH musk, the same as in l’Air de rien.
Correcting perfume French is well and truly a thankless task 🙂
Yes, ‘perfume French’, you’re right, it is a thing ?
It’s been rather dry where you are at, right?
Yes, the south-east (London) has been dry these past few weeks.
Vacances from the Collection Héritage
I pressed the wrong button. Vacances is very much a spring bouquet with a soft lilac note. Itbus utterly lovely and goes well with all the real flowers currently blooming where I live.
SOTD: TBD. Probably because I want to try out another BDK sample or two.
But, the iris samples are calling my name.
? and happy day out! Hope everyone is having a sweet one.
Just added a few more things to the swap meet! Gotta keep things fresh!
Please, let us know how you like your iris scents.
Today I am wearing Hermessence Cedre Sambac layered with a soft spritz of Eau d’Orange Verte.
Oh, that sounds like a nice combo!
A kereru – one of my neighbours! It’s native to New Zealand, and we saw them quite a bit last year, there was a pair living nearby. My mother gets frequently gets them in her garden, they love the new growth on her laburnum plant.
Perfume-wise, i haven’t quite transitioned to autumn, the days are still mostly sunny, but the weather is suddenly a lot colder. PdN’s Sacrebleu seems right for today.
Sacrebleu seems designed for that time of years, when summer slowly fades into autumn.
They are lovely birds, found quite a few pictures!
Black Perfecto EdT, simply because I saw it and grabbed it.
Service guy is here to fix the big hood vent over our cooktop. Hasn’t worked since it was installed, and it fell through the cracks on getting it fixed. Hope he can figure it out…he commented he’s never known this brand to not work from the get go.
Thunderstorms yesterday, but blue skies today. We have discovered that even on low, our fireplace throws a lot of heat. We’ve turned it off and opened the windows. I didn’t realize how many evergreens were in our woods. It’s just enough to make me feel like I’m in my beloved Sierras. Including the lovely sound the wind makes through the tops of the trees. Doesn’t get much better.
mmm..you smell good
I heard there is a licorice note in BP. How prominent is that note please?
I don’t notice much of that. It’s more floral.
My parents have a gas fireplace and it really does throw a lot of heat. Especially nice on a chilly morning. I’ve always loved wood, but sometimes wish ours was gas simply for convenience sake.
Hope that your hood vent has been set to right and is working now!
Nope. They are going to order another control panel and try again in a few weeks. Such is life….
?! Phooey!
It was a beautiful warm day so I went with Pink Iris by Able. A dusty pink iris scent. Just really pretty.
I’ve found myself drawn more and more to pretty perfumes. I’m sure you smell fantastic as usual?
You’re a doll. That is the nicest thing anyone has said to me today.
I guess it’s also national blueberry pie day. Who knew? Not me, but I don’t like blueberry pie so that might explain it, lol.
I’m in Mugler Over the Musk. The last of my decant.?
Tomorrow is Friday Eve. Woo hoo!
You probably need to put more whipped cream on the blueberry pie!
Lol, or ice cream!
Or just get blueberry pie ice cream! Someone has to have made that flavor.
Ha! This is an even better idea?I’ll have to look when I’m at the store.
You are making me hungry
I found a sample of Heretic Dirty Violet on my bathroom shelf today. How and when it got lost there is a bit of a mystery. (I’ve been moving some boxes of other things around in there, so presumably it fell out of one.) I tried other samples of the line and didn’t like much except Smudge. Dirty Mango is kind of OK but I prefer not to wear a scent with “Dirty” in the name. Is that peculiar of me? This one is actually quite nice. Not sure if violet counts as springy or not. I think of the flowers, which did used to bloom in spring in our yard up north, but this is from leaves I suppose. It adds in patchouli and leather for the “dirty” part but on the whole it comes off very gentle and lightly floral and warm, not a ‘butch’ scent at all. It’s quite lovely really. Not a lot going on here, except I took three kittens to the vet for checkups yesterday and came home with two. The vet tech begged me to adopt one of them, the fluffy black boy, and so I said yes. She was beaming!
She had recently put an older black cat to sleep. Plus, she has a one-year-old white cat and so he’ll have a playmate.
Yay for the kitten who has found his new home! (I think it must be hard to part with them, though, even after lots of experience with fostering…)
Yes it was, partly because it was so sudden, and also, he’s exceptionally cute, like a fluffy little black bear cub!
I originally thought you had a foster Gail but woo hoo for a forever home for one of the kitties!
Eeek, I meant foster FAIL!
Awwwwww. Sweet story for that kitten. He’s going to a great person.
That’s so sweet about the kitty. It’s extra special since he’s going to someone who has kitty skills already!
How is your leg doing? I hope it’s healing up well.
I’m working… at work!… with Dior Homme EdT today. It was one of my first favorites and too easy to forget about with all the other scents I’ve acquired in the intervening time. I love that it’s a bit herbal and energizing when I apply in the morning, and soft and cozy by afternoon.
Oooh, I love Dior Homme EDT as well!
Finally in on the Spring theme with Teo Cabanel Julia; it has hyacinth so I’m taking a point.
Not a lot of hyacinth perfumes around, is there? Or am I just not paying attention? ?
Near record breaking temps in my environs today, phew! Looking at having iced jasmine green tea instead of hot for the next couple of days. ?
Of course, the cats are loving it. They are, however, not a fan of the air conditioning. ??
SOTD = another day of Tilting At Windmills Cologne. My spray sample of this is getting low. I’ve enjoyed it, but don’t feel that it is a warm weather must have from Soivohle.
Cats always prefer being fanned by their personal attendants…
I think my two would have preferred that I’d left the AC off! They were quite happy then.
LOL! “Peel me a grape!” they demand. ?
I could have sworn we hit 90 here. I turned off the heat this morning and will keep it off until at least tomorrow. I will cozy up to my layer of blankets!
I wouldn’t be surprised if it did get that hot! I was shocked when I heard the noon temp.
Jalapeno, I am now trying to drink ice tea instead of diet coke. The iced coffee didn’t work out, lol. So far I’ve just tried regular lemon, but yours sounds good.
If you decide to go the iced tea route with jasmine green tea, remember to make it stronger than usual so that it doesn’t get too watered down when you add the ice. Voice of experience here.
Yum, jasmine green tea. I also love lavender chamomile tea. I wonder if it would be good iced?
I had a dental appointment this morning for a filling so I just now put on some EL Tuberose Gardenia. I forget how good this is between wearings. Dapper the kitten is having a wonderful time playing with a long strip of plastic strapping, the kind you get on heavy cartons. He is dragging it, wrestling with it, and trying to chew it but it’s too tough.
I have (had) three foster kittens up in my guest bedroom for nearly two weeks now. Naturally they are adventurous and playful. Two mornings ago I went in and found a complete mess–I’d forgotten and left a box in there in which some item came all packed in long black paper ribbons, sort of like the ribbons in Easter baskets. I had saved it thinking it might be good for a Halloween decoration of some time. Well, naturally they found it and those black ribbons were strewn positively all over the whole floor! At first it looked like a ghoulish crime scene! And no way to really pick them up except by hand. Ugh! At least they didn’t try eating them!
Kittens can make toys out of anything, can’t they? Part of their charm…
Happy hump day! How did it get to be Wednesday?!? I’m in a pair of Mizensirs: Bois Iridescent on the left and Eau de Gingembre on the right. The BI is a beautiful citrus with iris, and the EdG is the ginger perfume I wished the Origins ginger had been. It’s not sweet, and not a winter ginger at all. I like both of them.
Actually, I’ve been decanting this afternoon, so I really have a lot of stuff going on at once! ?
I bet it smells great! How is your hand/finger doing?
Well, I’ve had pulled pork brewing in the slow cooker all day, so it’s smelling peculiar in the house, to be honest! ?
Finger is okay, I have my fingers crossed that insurance does it’s thing and I can start PT tomorrow. I have an appointment at 2pm. I’ve been doing the exercises I did last fall, and massaging it with a bee propolis ointment, which helps. Thanks for asking! ?
Continuing with Project “Use Those Samples”, I am in Dusita, starting with Oudh Infini topped with Erawan. Oudh Infini smells like a midden, but eventually calms down. Erawan in contrast is a little…wan. Dusita is a quality outfit, that’s for sure.
Smells like a midden? You mean an ancient garbage dump kind of midden?
SOTD = Jo Malone Orange Peel Cologne and Amouage Love Mimosa
Not a layering! Orange Peel Cologne, which smells similar to Atelier Orange Sanguine but much simpler and even more linear, went poof in 2 hours. I put on Amouage Love Mimosa, and all was right with the world! The Love Mimosa was from a split Lucas organized and Undina and I each got 30mL!
https://www.instagram.com/p/COOmjyqhCsy/?igshid=i14dmrl1ahq3
In other news, despite the heat, I went out walking. I now have to dodge people who are taking advantage of the warmer weather. I still refuse to wear a mask (I bring one, just in case) because I can absolutely social distance.
Lots of people out walking in my neighborhood late this afternoon.
But only three kids on bikes!
Did that one lady ever ask you to walk with her again?
Nope. I think my Not Interested sounded pretty final ?
My daughter and I went to the mall after work today. I almost impulsed bought Narciso Musc Noir from Macy’s. Good thing the SA was unfriendly and uninterested in selling anything lol. I loved it! It’s more spicy than musky and reminds me a bit of a MAC perfume I used to have called Air of Style. I guess I will order it, if I can talk myself back into getting it. My sotd is Shalimar Souffle edp.
Meant to add that it does not dry down to ambroxan! I almost cried!?
I know what you mean. That stuff hurts my nose in big doses.
Ooh, now I really want to try that Narciso! My Macy’s hasn’t carried Narciso for a few years unfortunately. Also the perfume counters have been bare for months.☹️
Maybe time to poke around on the Internet and see what you can find? And BOO for an unfriendly Sales Associate!
You smell great!
