We're celebrating Siblings Day (on Saturday) and Pet Day (on Sunday) with our usual open thread poll. Talk about anything you like — the fragrance you’re wearing today, two fragrances that you think might be siblings, your pet's favorite fragrance, whatever.
Or, ask a question about fragrance, then see if anyone else has asked a question that you can answer…

Man, I have neither a sibling or a pet, so two strikes for me this weekend. lol. It never bothered me growing up an only child. My parents were young, my mom was 20 when I was born, so in a sense we all grew up together. My own son and daughter are the ages that my parents were when I was born and I look at them and think how young there are. Still just kids with so much life ahead of them. What DID bother me was the question “do you like being an only child?”….as compared to…..? I had nothing else to compare it to. So yeah, I did.?
Anyway, I’m in Coco edp and smelling so, so good.
I’m not an only child, but both of my parents are/were so I don’t have any aunts, uncles or first cousins. Neither of my parents ever mentioned missing having siblings, although my father’s mother was a schoolteacher (she was his first grade teacher) so he effectively had a new group of “siblings” every year.
Only child twin, with a different set of circumstances…my parents were on the older side, much rarer in the 1960s than now!
And the last time I had a dog was in 1997. Here in my suburb, having an invisible fence seems de rigueur, an investment I’m not very interested in pursuing.
Putting off scent choice–off to 1st vaccine around lunchtime. Already woke up with a headache, so I guess I might have to resign myself to a less than stellar Saturday (gonna rain most of the day anyway). At least I’m not needle-phobic!
Good luck with the vaccine appointment!
Getting a vaccine is pretty stellar 🙂
Yay for your shot – I am done and for me it was no big deal; hope you have the same thing. Maybe now that your rain has arrived, your head will be better.
I hope your headache gets better and you don’t have any vaccine side effects.
Very good luck to you! I got my 2nd Moderna yesterday and have barely been out of bed all day. Ugh. Very hopeful for tomorrow.
I got my 2nd Pfizer shot yesterday and have slept most of today.
My mother had the second of Pfizer on Tuesday and next day she slept the whole day, almost non stop. She complaineof being very exhausted and terribly sleepy.
One of my sisters had the second Moderna yesterday too and like you, she has been in bed the whole day. She says that her body aches and chills are very tough, but he expects to be ok for tomorrow.
The body ache is intense. Fever is only a bit under 101 so that is not too bad.
Hope you’re feeling better today, Robin and yay for your 2nd shot! 🙂
Much better, thanks, although did not feel totally normal until around dinner time.
Hope your first shot went well!
Ha, I have cousins who are identical twins, and they sure got sick of the “what’s it like to have an identical twin?” question. Their response was “what’s it like NOT to?”
Having a latte and wafting Paris-Deauville as Mr. G watches The Masters. I have three brothers, one deceased, and I’ll wish the other two a Happy Siblings Day just to completely mystify them. I can hear their reactions now: “what? Siblings Day? why would I want to celebrate that?” Not that we don’t all love each other – we just all enjoy some distance. ?
You smell great.
Thank you!
Agreed, you do smell great… I have that one and need to break it out for warmer weather.
It’s so gorgeous, warm weather or otherwise … but especially when it’s sunny out. ☀️
Vintage Je Reviens for Kelly Red (and for me!). I have a younger sis. We’re very different, but good friends. She’s an artist and she hates fragrance (what the ???)…and I’m super pragmatic, down to earth, etc. Wish I had some of her talent.
What I always wished I had were lots of cousins. Both my parents’ siblings had fairly small families and were very spread out. Wish they would have done family reunions at least.
I liked having cousins when I was young, but we have not stayed in touch so much as adults…they pretty much all ended up on the west coast.
I wanted cousins too…none of my parents’ siblings had children.
I’m having a pretty good Saturday, so far. I’ve been on a diet all year, and today I am down to the weight I claim on my driver’s license 🙂
Yesterday while sorting thru books to give away, I hit the bookshelf that holds ‘books to be read’. Some of them have been sitting there for years and years. They’re books that are ‘good for you’, you know? The green vegetables of the book world. Well I decided that I don’t want to read my vegetables, so they are all going to be donated to the library, lol.
SOTD is Coco Mad Intense. 2nd test drive for this one to see how much I really like it before the Sephora sale opens up for me.
Congrats on the weight loss! I keep trying but not hard enough.
I really like Coco Mad Intense. It was a pandemic purchase last year and I’ve enjoyed it, if you are looking for an aye vote 🙂
Thanks! I still have a ways to go to reach my goal, but progress feels good.
Oh, *good one* pixel! You’ve just described how I feel about certain books sitting around my house.
It’s nice to have them not nagging at me anymore 🙂
When I got a North Carolina drivers license in December I was thrilled that they don’t include weight. I never understood why that had to be on there.
To promote creative lying, I suppose…
Congratulations on the weight loss! And on having books a library would actually want! I recently cleaned out a bunch of books in my office bookshelf since we’re about to pack up and renovate, and my books were all things like “Say It With Charts” — with a note on the front that it now “covers new technologies AND the Internet.” Off to the Zero Waste Depot it went.
Gosh – that one sounds like it belongs in a museum! Although, what comes around goes around. We now say it with self populating dashboards. Hooray.
Ha, yeah, I have some of those too. “Word 2012”, “Framemaker”, etc etc. The library won’t take those, but our recycling will.
Congrats on your weight and book loss! 🙂
Thanks! My house and I are both losing weight 🙂
Don‘t want to read my vegetables! ? love it
🙂
Wow, congrats on the weight loss! I love the ditch the vegetables idea too! Once you’re done with school, no one can tell you what you have to or *should* read anymore.
Yeah, for sure. I am telling that lecture-y voice to go away.
Yay for being your D.L. weight! 😉 A kind NSTer sent me so CM Intense and I do like it but not sure I will need more…the travel spray set is awfully cute however…
Azemour because it’s supposed to be 75 degrees here, although it’s about 55 in my office.
I’m the oldest of four. We’re all pretty close, although I’m probably the outlier – I live farther away, don’t have a place on the Cape, and so on. Lots of cousins but we don’t see them as often as we did. Maybe when the scourge calms down?
Azemour is such a lovely perfume. I bought mine before the brand changed their bottle looks.
I love it. My bottle is round and ribbed glass, not the squat round one I see now. Maybe bought it 6-7 years ago?
Ribbed? Not sure I know that bottle. Here’s mine https://www.instagram.com/p/CL1Sal8hYg7/?igshid=1oczjmkpkke7k
Lucasai, went back and checked finally. My bottle is like yours. I must have picked up the Diorissimo spray bottle first?
No sibilings here and oh gosh how I miss my pet. Our dachshund was such a fun agent.
I’m wearing Rania J. Lavande 44 today.
https://www.instagram.com/p/CNe5wf3h8rj/?igshid=8lmcdhc40t6i
As to perfume sibilings I always thought that Ambre Narguile is similar to Nu_Be Helium or that HdP 1725 is related to MDCI Invasion Barbare.
Because lockdown in Poland is extended and there’s not knowing how things will look in a week from now and I needed a haircut like RIGHT NOW so I cut my own hair. It went surprisingly well.
Wow, that’s daring! I’m glad your haircut went well.
I just couldn’t stand my overgrown hair any longer ?
Our son surprised himself by cutting his own hair and having it turn out great. Now he cuts Mr. SP’s hair as well!
At least your boys don’t have go worry about hairdressers being unavailable in quarantine
Bravo on the hair cut – both on the bravery and job well done!
Thank you
Wow… Impressed by your haircut success (should we demand a picture proof? 😉 ). Sorry about the next lockdown though. Let’s hope it’ll help this time.
Today I’m wearing a little Guerlain Vega (the 2005 relaunch, not vintage), which is, if not a sibling, then at least a first cousin to Chanel No. 5. You can certainly see the family resemblance.
I have been doing a deep deep Ingmar Bergman dive in the last week and a half (many of his movies are on The Criterion Channel): somehow I had gotten this far without seeing any of them, so last night I watched “Wild Strawberries”, which is a masterpiece and put me in such a good mood. Then I went to yesterday’s community project and read *all* the comments, and it was so nice to read people’s history with various scents and the memories they conjure up. It was a real pleasure and made me appreciate this website all the more.
As a therapist, I think about Bergman’s Autumn Sonata fairly often when talking with clients about painful relationships with their mothers. There is a poignant scene with Ingrid Bergman and Liv Ullmann that captures a very particular sadistic mother/daughter dynamic that powerfully transcends words and theory.
Haven’t watched that one yet but it’s on the list. One thing I’ve already noticed is that the women in his movies are fascinating and complex: he writes them well, and he has a real touch with performers, too.
Absolutely. I think this was Ingrid Bergman’s last performance and it was a tour de force. She had breast cancer during the filming and died not that long after.
It’s interesting about the parallels you draw with those two perfumes. I think I agree with you, but whatever sets them apart is significant for me: I can wear Vega (at least sometimes), and I absolutely can’t do No 5 (even though I would love to!).
Because my cat is always around me she may end up with a little bit of the perfume I have sprayed on my arm or hand transferring onto her fur. Then my husband complains that she smells of perfume! She will come and smell everything food at length too to see if edible including oranges!
She does not seem to mind perfumes at all in contrast with my parent’s cat who really recoiled against any sharp or artificial smells ( and scrunched up his little nose to cítrics!)
I am wearing Embers from twine reinthal in one wrist and GourmNd Coquin on my chest and t-shirt. Loving both and pair well together.
My cat always smells my arm but no perfume seems to bother him. Like yours, he’s more interested in food.
Your cat is adorable! My girl wouldn’t let me wear perfume in the house (she owned me). I loved a little love from her more than any bottle ?.
That’s so sweet! And relatable. I never dared upset my parents’ cat either with offending smells (I took him in from the street as a student and they cared for one summer … then kept forever). He had a strict catty etiquette that needed to be respected so as to give head rubs ?
That is one brave kitty! Someone “offered” to let our highly social cat Ellie smell some orange peel once, and he got a very rare (and deserved) paw-smack for it ?
Mine are indifferent to most of the fragrances but the other cat, Kate, does give a second sniff to the musk ones.
That’s hilarious! ?? Very cute and appropriate response from Ellie, how dare they!
My cat didn’t mind any of my perfumes for the first 10 years of his life, but for the last couple of years he became a diva and started walking away from my lap if I were to wear anything he doesn’t like on my wrists (he seems not to be bothered by me applying perfume to other parts of my body).
Wearing Le Temps d’Une Fete today and I could (but won’t) weep at how beautiful it is.
One much older sister for me so I was almost an only child, and my daughter is an only child. My sister and I are like night and day and I never have known her all that well. She’s allergic to everything including cats and perfume so we don’t have a lot in common!
I read everyone’s comments from yesterday and enjoyed them very much, it was another fun CP 🙂
My dad was like that…much later than his 2 siblings, but so he ended up the “pet” to some extent.
My sisters and I were all 18 months apart.
Wow, that’s close! My daughter’s best friends growing up were 3 sisters about 18 months apart. She was like a fourth sister but when they would fight, she really liked coming home to her own room and her own dog 🙂
We fought a lot when we were young. I think it was poor planning on my mom’s part — she would have had it easier if she’d spaced us out a bit!
SotD for morning gardening was Shalimar edc, because of all the Shalimar talk in yesterday’s CP. It worked very well as it was a cool, cloudy and now rainy day so though I was digging and raking some of the time, it was not a day to work up a sweat. Post-shower, I visited a trove of lovely samples recently shared by an NST’er and chose Montale Chypre Vanille. I was expecting something very sweet (not sure why, as I’ve no familiarity with Montale) so it was a surprise and I am liking it but not “getting it.” I am intrigued. 🙂
Two siblings: Coco Mademoiselle and the newer Shiseido Zen in a yellow, square bottle. Two other siblings: Auphorie Lanterne Rouge and Bond no.9 Chinatown. Two other siblings: CdG Calamus and Lilian Bamboo Harmony. I will try to think of some other ones!
Thank you! I love your siblings!
Glad You liked my picks:) I don’t have any siblings but some fragrances do:))
Kilian* Bamboo Harmony I meant
Two brothers: one three years older, one seven years younger and born after my dad had been diagnosed with severe cardiomyopathy and spent six months being totally dependent on my mom. I gave lots of bottles and changed lots of diapers when I was a child. Can’t think of any perfume twins right now -perhaps Zino by Davidoff and Coromandel? SOTD: Houbigant Quelques Fleurs from a sample. This could be Balmain de Balmain’s cousin.
PS For people interested in such things. I barely had any reaction to the J&J vaccine and as I am now 6 weeks post vaccine, I thought I’d do my spike protein antibodies. The results were equivocal, so no surprises there. I’m now hoping that I have some major T-cell reactivity to Covid, though I’m not motivated enough to spend more money to find out.
Thanks, from someone interested in hearing about J&J.
Wishing you the absolute best with the rest of the testing, if you ever choose to go down that route.
My father, the eldest, bottle fed, did the diapering, tutored and probably all you did. Cheers to you for being such a tremendous Blessing to your parents and siblings.
Thanks, AnniePerfumes!
I spoke to an immunologist (a friend of a friend) about my results and she says they see a whole range of post vaccination spike protein antibody levels. She said to check T-cell reactivity (apparently there are new assays specific to Covid19 and spike protein, the previous ones were to corona viruses in general), but these are expensive. I’ll see if I can get mine done as part of a trial!
That is a great friend of a friend to have in these times! Thanks for passing along the information and explaining it so well.
Crossing my fingers that you get in on the trial.
Interesting. My son was going to get Pfizer on Monday but now he’s going to get J&J on Sunday.
In all honesty, if I were young and with no co-morbidities, I would choose the J&J. Human adenovirus, old technology. There had been lots of noise on the internet about the mRNA vaccines possibly causing auto-immune disease in the long run ( as there is no ‘off switch’ as with the adenovirus vaccines, where the signal goes away when your own immune cells destroy the infected cells). However, a colleague of mine, a voracious reader on vaccine technology, says the above is absolute nonsense and mRNA technology has been used in therapeutic vaccines for 15 years.
I do think for older people in more at risk categories, Pfizer and Moderna publishes the best protective results and are probably better at protecting against the new strains. FWIW.
Interesting…love your posts on this topic.??
Thanks for the overview!! I’ll be getting whatever I can get stuck with when I can get it, but it’s good to hear some science on the difference between the vaccine types!
Your friend is right about that being nonsense. Both vaccines use your cells to produce the proteins that trigger your immune response (the Pfizer/Moderna uses mRNA directly and the J&J uses adenovirus to get the gene for the spike protein into our cells which then makes mRNA which does the same thing as the mRNA in the other vaxes). All mRNAs are degraded with time–that is just how they work.
Amyitis, Thank you for the info!
I think I figured more that if I was young & with no-comorbidities, I would just rather go with the “one and done”. (Although I assume that it’s quite possible we’re all going to need another shot in the end.)
But also, the Pfizer was an hour away, the J&J was 20 minutes away.
I have one older brother, of whom I am very fond and wish I could see more often. He was such a massive over sprayer as a teenager that he once managed to gas me and my parents out of the family car, and my parents made a family “2 spray rule” as a defense mechanism. I followed that rule until this year, when I was inspired to up it to 4 sprays.
I loved reading the SOTD comments yesterday! Thanks to everyone for sharing such great stories and memories.
My SOTD is Saturday. I’m very excited that Arielle Shoshanna announced that they are going to release a Friday perfume! It’s also a great day because we just had outdoor furniture delivered and assembled, and now we have a great outdoor dining space on our deck.
I approve of the two spray rule. I used to have a 3 spray rule pre covid. Now with not seeing many people and no noses to offend I also go to 4 and even (on occasion) 5! And feel very decadent doing it.
I now only have the 8-spray rule but will need to dial back whenever I am back in the office (date TBD).
Interesting. The number of sprays that I apply depends upon the scent that I choose to wear any given day. Obviously, less for stronger scents but much more for those fleeting lovelies. Funny, I don’t really think about it. It’s just the way I roll.
I love that your family established a two spray rule! I limit myself as well if we’re going somewhere in a car but if I’m just at home I sometimes indulge myself in a scent cloud since I can’t wear fragrance at work.
Ended up spraying Lost Cherry with crazy abandon last night after a nice CP. Lovely, very touching stories.
Here’s to the friends that are the sisters and brothers we wish. Whatever dynamic we have with our sibling (s) or lack of, we all seem o.k.
Still, a little bittersweet kind of day.
SOTD: I think what are the very remnants of Lost Cherry. It felt so comforting last night. It was a have to.
It does have a very nice drydown!
One younger sister, whom I haven’t seen since we spent 45 minutes together last June in Peace Arch Park, which straddles the U.S. / Canadian border. That was during a very brief period where they allowed people in the park, so you could meet Americans there. (And she could hand me the REI tent for our backpacking trip, since it was almost impossible to find camping equipment up here and REI was taking over two months to ship to Canada).
Not sure when we’ll be able to see her again, but fingers crossed for sometime this year. My US family is all vaccinated (except the kids) at this point; it’s the Canadian side that’s the problem now.
But I do have a cat to comfort me in the meantime. 🙂 She would appreciate it if we could celebrate her tomorrow by giving her more tuna.
Oh, and SOTD is Black March. The sun is out, it’s supposed to be warm-ish for the next few days, and I feel like planting things!
I feel you on the vaccine front… my family and friends mostly live in the states and pretty much all done with getting vaccinated. It’s a bit ridiculous how slow the rollout is up here in Canada. I miss my family…
Hope you get to see your sister again soon. And cats are a comfort…even naughty ones. 😉
SOTD is Micallef Vanille Orientale. We are sitting in the ferry terminal waiting to cross to Vancouver Island. Woot!
I have one brother, 3 years younger, and 1 dog, 2 years old.
Thank you all sooo much for the wonderful birthday wishes yesterday!!
Yay! Have a great trip over!
Happy belated birthday! I hope the last stage of your trip is smooth and easy.
Yay, almost there!
Bon voyage!
Happy happy! And glad you made it in and onto the ferry!
Brother and sister. Sister lives on another continent which means I haven’t seen her for over a year now and miss her very much. My brother at least shares the same country and will be moving to my town soon which I am really happy about. Would love a pet, but haven’t got a very pet friendly situation. Someday hopefully.
Testing Saturday today:
Aerin’s Mediterranean Honeysuckle (very meh indeed and not a honeysuckle to be found to my nose)
Chanel 19 Poudre (powdery for sure, I smell some kinship to my beloved 19, perhaps for a lighter touch)
Naomi Goodsir Or du Serail (another hit for me, so far I’ve tried 3 scents from the sample set and am hard pressed to pick a favourite, they’ve impressed me all. Nuit de Bakelite however might have the edge over the others for being so unusual).
Haven’t tried the Goodsirs you mentioned, but did recently fall for Iris Cendre. Curious about Nuit be Bakelite, since it’s said to be polarizing (and am a tuberose fan). Of course, I already have numerous untested samples!
I’ve yet to try iris cendre. And I do enjoy a good iris, so that sounds like something to look forward to!
I find I prefer a tuberose with a twist. While I like carnal flower, it’s fougere emeraude and nuit de bakelite that I find myself more drawn too.
I have Iris Cendre and love this take on iris – smoky but not over the top and Nuit de Bakelite is a favorite too and definitely on the future buy list. It’s so compelling and the lasting power can’t be beat!
I found Nuit de Bakelite nuclear strength! I also like tuberose but found this one is a bit radioactive. If it had a smell it would be neon green.
I mean, a colour!
I bought the Aerin sample set for that honeysuckle and I’ve been disappointed by all I’ve tried so far. I think it’s just one of those houses that doesn’t work for me. I love love love honeysuckle and am always searching for a realistic one.
Yeah, most Aerin scents haven’t wowed me. I do like Eclat de Vert, but think it’s very overpriced.
On honeysuckle: the only satisfactory honeysuckle I‘ve found so far is Annick Goutal‘s Chevrefeuille…
My immediate family is very small, just me and my mother since my brother died nearly 20 years ago. My beloved helps make up for that, he’s part of a much bigger family. I do have lots of cousins, only three full cousins, but lots of more distant ones. I’ve made a few people laugh when I’ve described the connection with my mother’s cousin’s widow’s adopted stepson 🙂
Our new cats haven’t responded in any way to perfume until a couple of days ago – Phaedra was very interested in the dab of Bee on my arm. She licked it, looked a bit surprised, then licked some more. Many years ago, the long gone Ti had a similar reaction to Bandit, but only ever Bandit.
Perfume-wise, I’ll make a decision after cleaning the bathroom, it might be trying a few more samples.
I’m sorry for the loss of your brother.
And happy for your beautiful extended, extended family.
Your kitties seem so cute!
I have a, younger brother, tjat Iove, although he has gotten a bit weird with his chronic diseases and bechterev…
Sprayed some cristalle Eau Verte in the morning, because of headache and Niki de Saint Phalle in the afternoon.
I finally tested my new Brompton bike today, just a short ride, because I am still not fit after Covid, but it was fun
Yogurt marinated Masala roast chicken with potatoes for dinner, this was really good!
I had to google bechterev…most of you will probably know it as Ankylosing spondylitis. That’s too bad!
Those bikes are so cute! I am really enjoying my folding bike this year, but I got an electric. Great fun, wish I’d done it sooner.
PSA: I was looking for a travel size of Hermes Myrrhe Eglantine on ebay and noticed a listing for inexpensive 3.3-oz tester bottles of that and some other Hermessences. They are unboxed and don’t have the caps; would be great for splits.
No affiliation. I haven’t purchased from this seller before so cannot vouch. Nonetheless, I notice here is a photo of the label on the bottom of the bottle, and the batch code produces a date of 2018-03 on Check Fresh, so it seems likely that this was stock that has been rotated out.
I’ll have to think about sister scents. That’s a great question!
I wore the big dose of my Lubin Kismet sample today, and adorable hubby had the same response that he had the first time I wore it last week. “That smells really good.” 🙂
It’s rapidly moving up my list of To Buy FBs.
I may be putting my bottle of Kismet up at the swapmeet if you want to hold off for a bit! It’s half full
Oh, thanks for the heads-up! Email me with what you are hoping to swap for, maybe I have it sitting here yearning for a new home. Username at g. Mauled…
Okay will email you soon!
Wearing Chanel No. 19 vintage edt on one wrist and Heure Exquise on the other. The Chanel seems to be more green while HE is more powdery but they are very similar.
I have one sister, 2 years older. Some things we both love and other things we are night and day different. My sister did have a dog that loved to lick the Crabtree & Evelyn Nantucket Briar lotion off of her legs. I don’t know if she did that with anything else but it was very funny to see that!
We had cats (and a few dogs) as pets when we were kids. I think they generally put up with us and I probably put perfume on one of the cats a few times.
Love both of your perfumes.
Thank you ?
Hi all! I’m an only child, have two half-brothers in Ireland whom I’ve never met. I’m okay with that. My mother was on the older side, she had me at 30, she was a career woman who decided she never needed marriage!
As you all know, I have one cat, SmokeyToes, my avatar, he’s stuck with us through thick and thin. The last time I had a dog was in 1994. My first husband and I had three mini-doxies, Stretch (red, smooth-coat), Slinky (chocolate, long-hair), and Jake (grey, wire-hair). Sadly, all have passed over the rainbow bridge. SmokeyToes usually smells like tonka or galbanum, common notes in most of my perfumes.
Currently watching The Serpent on Netflix. It’s good, but super creepy.
My son regularly asks how your cat Smokey Toes is doing…
Excellent! SmokeyToes is his usual cranky self! 😀
Ha! I will let him know
You can see ST showering Mr. SmokeyToes with affection here:

Adorable! 🙂
That is one beautiful kitty!
Overcast today so I’m curled up with a mug of Sakura Sencha and SotD is Berdoues Somei Yoshino. 3 siblings but none live close (or even in the same country). I don’t think I own any scent siblings…
The dog is currently enjoying his new bone and the cat is napping after a solo game of parkour pompom soccer, lol.
Hope you all are enjoying your day.
Parkour pompon soccer! LOL…
10.5 hours sleep.
Haircut
lovely comment from my hair person on my SOTD which is le labo tea noir lotion and ‘fume.
Want to watch Hemmingway later and tomorrow.
will see my one and only Irish twin beloved sissy on five weeks!! can hardly wait.
I like that Le Labo alot
Me, too.
2 sisters, one 4 years younger and the other 12 years younger than me. I am the introvert, they are the extroverts, so most of the time communicating is not easy, but we love each other and that compensates.
My old doggy Yei doesn’t tolerate my perfumes anymore. If I spray heavily and he is around he starts coughing uncontrollably and gets out of breath easily, which is very scary. That’s why I stay away from him when I do it. I cannot light scented candles anymore for the same reason, unless all windows are wide open. Still I try to avoid it the most I can.
Nice day today outside. Waiting now for a rainy Sunday and Monday. I ran most of my errands and now I am relaxing a bit, before I go thru my shoes and eliminate what I don’t use anymore.
Wearing Chanel Paris-Venise.
Happy weekend, everyone!
I had a kitty with asthma years ago who put an end to my use of scented candles and other home fragrances. It was worth it for his comfort. Fortunately the current kitties don’t notice anything in the house except mealtimes!
Off and on rain today so I am watching the Masters, although I did squeeze in a walk between the rainstorms. I made a stew for dinner because it’s cold here. My three kitties are all on my left side right now–Dapper is sleeping next to my knee, Scout next to my hip, and Bertie Wooster is on the top of the recliner. Sometimes when he’s asleep he will change position and roll down onto my shoulders. He is always very surprised and a little scared when this happens. I’m wearing Amyris Femme and smell very pretty.
Aww what a cute mental image of the sleeping kitties
foxbins, that sounds like a perfect evening. Stew for dinner, three kittens sleeping next to you, smelling good.
Aw, siblings day! I’ll have to call my bro. I haven’t seen him since Feb. 2020, right before the pandemic hit. He’s 8 years younger than me–sometimes that feels like a big age difference, sometimes not so much. As for pets, we had numerous ones growing up, and now I have my little chihuahua mutt to keep me company. My mom and I are allergic to cats so we never had any, and I’m a little afraid of them since I can’t read them (I’ve been bitten and scratched a bunch of times). It’s much easier for me to tell if a dog is friendly!
Today I wore Scorpio by Zodica Perfumery. I like it! It doesn’t last all that long, which is surprising given the notes (tuberose, ylang ylang, rose, patchouli, oakmoss).
Re: your question last night about collections: I have a bunch of showergels, and loads of 25mm pewter miniatures. I got into painting and collecting those in the late 1990’s. It’s been ages since I’ve picked up a paintbrush, though. And a stash of dark chocolate bars in my closet.
Oh neat! That sounds fun. I didn’t know you could paint on pewter. I also haven’t made much with my loads of fabric; I used to be more into sewing, but haven’t felt like it lately except for quick mending projects.
Not sure if the minis are actual pewter or not anymore. That’s just what everyone calls the metal alloy that they are made from. Back in the 1970’s and 1980’s, some of those figures actually contained lead, and had a “Keep Away From Children” warning.
My brother painted those (he was a Dungeons and Dragons player) and my uncle painted model ships. The smell of Testors paint was ubiquitous in my family homes during childhood. You must have a steady hand!
That’s the same reason I painted my minis… D&D campaigns! Your mention of Testors paint was a bit of a nostalgia trip. They used to have a water-based line that was my introduction to mini painting.
One brother, who is 3 years younger than I am. We’ve been each other’s emotional support human since our Mom had her stroke. I haven’t seen him in person since October 2019, since he lives 2 time zones away. We do talk on the phone almost every night when he is off from work.
Two cats. Used to have 3, but Pixel kitty crossed the Rainbow Bridge in November 2019. They are somewhat spoiled. Exhibit A would be the kitty cat heating pad that they heavily use, especially when the A/C is going in summertime.
24+ hours out from my first Pfizer shot, and my arm feels like someone has smacked it a few times with a baseball bat. That’s the only side effect that I have noticed so far.
SOTD = back in vintage Ivoire de Balmain. The far drydown smelled so good last night when I was falling asleep that I decided I wanted more.
Perfume siblings I have are vintage Ivoire de Balmain and Soivohle Green Oakmoss.
Vintage Ivoire is lovely. Totally worth a reboot.
Congrats on vaccination #1! I had my first during mid March. My arm hurt at the injection site as well and I was extremely tired for a while after.
I did notice that I fell asleep faster than usual last night.
Yikes about the arm! It makes me wonder if more side effects mean the shot will work better?
I am not a medical professional but I mentioned it to the nurse when I had my second shot today. She said about the blood vessels and inflammation. Today I went with the other arm. The shot that I had today hurt more than the first, probably technique, but my arm isn’t sore at all. I’m hoping I got it out of the way with my first shot.
Intermuscular injections usually hurt for me, so I am not terribly concerned. This one is more painful than most, though.
Yay for your shot and hope your arm feels better.
Thanks She-ra! My arm is much happier today, but I have a decent-sized bruise now at the injection site.
SOTD = Etro Messe de Minuit
… from pfl67’s split. ❤️ this amber incense!
I did some decanting this morning and also now smell of a bunch of other perfumes.
At Whole Foods, I noticed more older couples shopping. It’s a good sign that more people are now out and about!
Yesterday, we got an email at work, letting us know we can voluntarily provide information regarding our vaccination, including uploading (optional) a picture of our vaccination card. There was a link to what the company does with data about employees. I clicked on it just to see and ?, it was a 38 page document ?! No, I did not read through the whole thing and yes, the pages towards the end were listings of legal entities covered but seriously? Bottom line is the company already knows a lot about every employee so I ended up providing my vaccination date and which vaccine type. OTOH, I don’t trust the so called “vaccine passport” and/or any other digital method to capture proof of vaccination. The state where you got vaccinated already has all the pertinent info … why can that not be the proof? Also, there are unscrupulous people selling fake blank CDC vaccination cards and it wouldn’t surprise me that information can be manufactured to suit the needs of those who refuse to be vaccinated!
Wow! That’s crazy.
Gosh, that’s fascinating about the vaccine/work thing. At my workplace, there’s been some discussion about whether or not it’s legal for my workplace (a private university) to require vaccination for those who aren’t medically exempt. We’ve heard it’s not possible, since this vaccine has been labeled “experimental” and was approved under emergency circumstances. If the labeling for the vaccine is ever moved to non-experimental status, then it “might” be legally possible for private workplaces to require it.
My workplace is not requiring it, at least not yet. I have issues with double negatives but I will use it here: they are also not NOT recommending it. In the past 3 weeks, multiple “resource groups” have hosted panel discussions on the safety of vaccines. I signed up for one but couldn’t make it. There are replays so I may still listen to one even though I already got my shot.
Also, some hospital systems have partnered with the private sector to allow a limited number of employees (not their dependents) to make appointments; this practice had raised the ire of some people who think it’s unfair.
No way, no how would I upload that info! I don’t trust anyone to keep that info safe, given all the hacks and leaks that I hear about.
I agree.
You’ve got a very good point. I would not feel secure either. But, I don’t have ApplePay activated on my phone, nor do I bank on my phone, or link my cell to any online logins for ‘backup’ security purposes. I don’t need all of those points of information interconnected – too much could go wrong.
Have you read your employer’s data use policy? I did not read through the whole thing but what I read convinced me it’s futile to choose not to.
You might be surprised what’s already out there.
I wouldn’t volunteer any information unless it’s not connected to me personally and is used for aggregation only: I do not trust companies not to use the information against me somehow, but even less I trust people who have access to that information.
It’s supposed to be for aggregation only but of course there’s no guarantee for what other purpose it may be utilized.
You just went through it and I hope you’re having very mild side effects, if any. Did you have concerns about the data protection practices of the group that administered the appointment?
My workplace gives us flu stickers that we have to wear on our badges every year. For some reason they’re not doing this with the Covid vax. Instead we have to fill out a screening app on our phone every time we come in and show it to a screener at the door. I hate that they made us install an app on our phone and make us use it every shift. (I’m a hospital nurse btw).
Happy weekend, NSTers!
I have a perfume question for this knowledgeable group. Continuing on the antiquities theme of yesterday’s CP, I’ve been very curious about several Guerlain scents that I’ve never smelled. Oldies that everyone knows, but have somehow escaped me over the years. And I really do not want to go down the rabbit hole of vintage hunting. So I’d love to know, are the current versions of any of these worth trying? If so, which ones, and at what concentration (EDP, EDT, etc.) Mitsouko, l’Heure Bleue, Vol de Nuit, Samsara, and Chant d’Aromes.
I know these things are subjective, but I’d love to hear any strong opinions you might have. I’m not too concerned if something is not as strong as it used to be (longevity/strength) but I’d like to know if something has changed beyond all recognition.
Do you like vintage scents? I have a bottle of vintage Samsara that I hoard but I love sandalwood. Especially mysore sandalwood in the original formulation.
Vol de Nuit is also gorgeous, green earthy.
Mitsouko is polarizing for some. L’Here Bleue is loved by many. I had an older bottle at one point but I swapped it away. It was too dense for my taste. Marzipan Iris. It smelled purple/gray/blue to me.
Yes, I do love vintage scents, but the ones I know are mostly Chanels. No. 5, No. 22, Bois des Iles….. I love all of those. And I do LOVE sandalwood. I hesitate to take the risk of vintage hunting, and also, I’d hate to fall in love with something I can’t have, which is why I thought I’d stick with current formulations.
Your Samsara sounds amazing. And marzipan iris actually sounds good to me! Hahaha. I might have to move l’Heure Bleue up the list!
Go for it! ? By that, I mean get a sample. STC sometimes has samples of vintage scents.
Yes, that’s very practical advice, to get some samples for STC. Thanks!
Definitely worth sampling vintage scents if you can before taking the plunge. Some NSTers have mentioned finding minis on Esty, so that could be a possible resource for you.
That’s a great idea, minis would be much less of a risk and price commitment!
I have worn L’Heure Bleue for more than forty years, and the present parfum is recognizably L’HB. It’s not as dense as it used to be. I don’t mind the “thinner” formulation, especially on hot days when vintage is just too much.
Thanks for that input! Current L’HB can be found quite easily and not for a lot, so I definitely want to try it before even considering delving deeper into vintages of it
This question is near and dear to my vintage-loving heart! I say don’t be afraid to go down the vintage rabbit hole; E-b-u-know-where is not the best place to start but I can’t warn you off given my record. Antique malls and to a lesser extent thrift stores have surprising amounts of good vintage perfumes, often displayed with/as bric-a-brac. It did not take long for my eyes to learn to pick out a commercial perfume bottle among the ring holders and china kittens. However, regarding your question: “(EDP, EDT, etc.) Mitsouko, l’Heure Bleue, Vol de Nuit, Samsara, and Chant d’Aromes:” I have and love the current versions of l’Heure Bleue and Chant d’Aromes, and I’d say the don’t disappoint but compared to a vintage-ish Chant, they are lighter and less-lingering. I have 15 year old bottle of Mitsouko edt and it seem richer than my modern bottle. I have vintage and recent (not the Bee Bottle) versions of Samsara edt and edp. I like any Samsara and find that it is not all that changed. I prefer my red “shoulder” bottle Samsara edt to the older clear edp. I’ve never smelled the parfum versions of any Guerlain except Shalimar and Champs Elysees, the latter being a special favorite of mine. In my case given the cost and scarcity of parfum versions, I am happy with edt and edp or a parfum de toilette ones.
Thanks so much for all the info MossyBerry! It’s especially good to know you like many iterations of Samsara, since that’s one I especially want to try. And for mentioning the red “shoulder” bottles versus the old clear ones, I’ve often wondered about those. They are often on ebay etc but too pricey for me to blind buy! I’ll have to keep an eye out for deals and to check antique places once I get out more.
Glad to hear about current versions of Chant d’Aromes and L’HB as well. After what you and foxbins said about L’HB, I’m definitely going to check that one out!
Taking note of all you and others have shared, and going to slowly start exploring!
Second Pfizer injection today! Woo hoo! So excited to be heading in a normal direction.
I have two older brothers who are both awesome. We are fairly close in age. I don’t see them as often as I’d like. Hopefully, that will change soon.
My dog could care less about my perfume but she ‘s very sweet. My cat prefers Mitsouko. He licks my wrist when I wear it.
My cats don’t care about perfume in the slightest. However, human food is very much of interest to them!
My cat absolutely prefers food to perfume.
Congrats on your second jab!
Thanks!
Congratulations on being fully vaccinated!
Yay for your 2nd shot!
Congrats on dose #2!
Hope you’re feeling OK today! Nevertheless, congrats on shot #2.
Yay for your second shot! How are you feeling today?
In a cacophony of scents today – a crazy melange – much like my family: 2 older brothers, one of whom died 10 years ago (he was the one I was close to), and a sister and brother who are 30 and 33 years younger than me (my father had my children!). I am so grateful to have these younger siblings in my life. They bring untold joy.
Also bringing joy – siblings Tabu and Miss Dior, the children of Jean Carles.
33 years younger! That’s so awesome. It’s like all the fun without much of the responsibilities
Totally!
That is wonderful for you and your younger siblings! Thank you too for mentioning the Tabu – Miss Dior link. I did not know that. They are a fabulous pair indeed!
Agreed! And I really appreciated your post about vintage formulations. What a thrill it must be to find buried treasures at the thrift store:)
Meant to mention that you inspired my Sotd – Chant d’Aromes. Lovely.
I can only post on the weekends this term cuz work is too much and I feel like I’m missing out on so much!
I’m the eldest of 4. One sibling is really into perfume too, which is great.
My dog smells like dog and is in great need of professional grooming. He apparently tried to bite the Petco groomer and she sent him home without doing anything. I’m not sure what happened cuz he has been to the groomer before with no problem.
In my small town all the grooming places are booked until June (!!) so I found a groomer who does house visits but its almost triple the price. My dog will now have a pricier haircut then me ?
I wore Dyptique Eau de Rose today. Nice but fleeting
Groomers can be crazy expensive! But worth it if your dog needs a trim, not just a bath and brush. My old dog didn’t need her hair cut, but she shed a ton and I couldn’t trim her nails myself, so I’d get her groomed every four months or so. She’d come back smelling great, with a new bandana or bow, and the shedding would be minimized for a few weeks :).
He definitely needs a trim! He doesn’t shed as a Maltipoo but man does his hair grow
So cool that you’re one of four! I wish I had siblings…. I’m sorry to hear about the groomers. We all have off days, including our furry babies.
Yeah I feel bad for the poor puppy – he must have been terrified!
This week two years ago my only brother died. He loved Joop! Homme, I’ve been wearing it for the last couple as an hommage.
couple of days
I’m very sorry for your loss. Anniversaries like this can be so hard. Hugs to you.
Thanks?
Sending hugs!
Thanks?
Very sorry for the loss of your brother.
Thank you. I’m glad he liked Joop! Homme it’s so recognisable….
Sorry for this tough anniversary. I hope the Joop! is bringing you some nice scent memories of your brother.
Yes, it makes you realise how powerful a scent can be in conjuring up memories.
I’m sorry for your loss. Sending warm thoughts your way.
Thanks?
I’m so sorry for your loss, how difficult. Joop Homme is lovely, and I’m glad it’s a comfort to you.
It is a comfort, although I had get used to wearing it myself….
So sorry for your loss. Two years is quite recent but it never gets easier.
Thanks?
I am so sorry for your loss. Having lost a beloved brother, I have a sense of what you might be experiencing.
Thank you.
My sympathies on your brother’s passing. Two years isn’t enough time for something like that to stop hurting, is it?
Over time different things hurt, now it’s the memories we will never have.
I am just catching up on reading comments right now. Found out that a coworker is retiring in a couple weeks. I think that she wasn’t too thrilled that managers really started to get on her case about a few things. Just waiting for that Sephora sale to get to me on the 15th. Have my cart loaded up but will make a cull to it. Wearing Kyoto right now but switch to Pleasures later on.
Kyoto is so beautiful and peaceful to me. Good luck with your Sephora cart!
Ok it’s now Sunday so I’m here for Pet Day! My beloved current cat Larry is a rescue from the Humane Society who was featured as Pet of the Week on our local news. We later decided that the pets of the week are determined by how badly the shelter wants the animal out of there ?We are experienced cat owners and it took Larry a full year to get comfortable with us but he’s now the best cat we’ve had although he still plays rough sometimes (read: bites.) He’s an excellent hunter and somehow the top of his head always smells like roses and sunshine.
Aww, Larry sounds wonderful! And for him to smell and roses and sunshine, that’s just the dreamiest.
I’ve always wanted a cat but I’m quite allergic. I had a feral ginger cat whom I fed for several years, and I still think of her. She lived quite awhile for a feral!
It’s wonderful that Larry found a loving house and you got an almost never biting cat 😉
Happy Sunday! Loving hearing everyone’s sibling and pet stories.
We have two rescue kitties currently: Ellie has been with Mr. Teebear and me almost ten years now, and Kate for five.
Their exceedingly human names are a constant source of embarrassment, but they knew them when we adopted, so we stuck with them!
Since they’re home with him while I’m away for work I am VERY homesick, but I’ll get a very quick chance to visit in two weeks – counting down the days.
Today I’m in Zoologist Hyrax from a sample, as it’s miserable and grey out so I won’t get even within 2m of another human. I enjoy this fragrance but it’s tremendously animalic, so I don’t like to wear it where it will impose on others.
Somehow I like the idea of having cats called Kate and Ellie, although I don’t think I’d like either if there was only one cat!
My niece adopted a dog with a ludicrously human name. Can’t remember now but might have been Melissa? She just changed the name.
Being a Melissa, I think it’s a dog ? name… not suitable for an aloof feline!
🙂
I am the youngest of 4 and love both cats and dogs…grew up w/ a dog b/c my dad was allergic to cats. We adopted 2 kittens Hans and Greta right before Xmas and they have been keeping us on our toes.?
Wearing CM Intense today as Pixel mentioned it above.
Just watched the first episode of Beforeigners…entertaining and strange….curious how it will unfold.
How are the kittens doing? No more GI issues, I hope!
Hello and happy Sunday all. My SOTD is Mugler’s Alien, I normally like but it isn’t working for me today. I may layer something with rose later today.
We’re winding down after a very busy weekend running around. Working on homework, prepped healthy veggies for the week’s snacks and meals.
We started watching The Serpent on Netflix – the writing and acting are excellent, and it’s engrossing, it’s also disturbing.
OH, and we went out for a light evening bite and met a very cute mini-Schnauzer named Brownie, he was super affectionate and very cute.
Now I want a brownie. The edible kind, please. ?
I am trying to think if there are unhealthy vegetables vs just unhealthy preparation. ?. My exposure to veggies is limited in the sense that I tend to not be adventurous and usually stick to what I am familiar with.
Fiddlehead ferns can be toxic if not fully cooked.
Mr. Teebear doesn’t like them much unfortunately, so I rarely get the chance to eat them although I’m a fan.
Hijiki (one type of Japanese seaweed) can also contain high levels of arsenic, so moderate consumption is recommended, which is a shame as it’s otherwise super delicious and has a ton of vitamins and iron in it.
That we definitely do eat at least a few times a year! We try not to go crazy on portions is all.
Waving my perfumed arms at you all! It’s been a long time since I was here, but life got in the way. I had what my neurologist terms “a light stroke, but complicated” at the end of December and then, despite the blood thinners and other meds I had to start taking, a month later, I had another incident and they think a loose blood clot pased through my brain. For me, this was a worse experience than the stroke. (I had a more debilitating stroke 12 years ago, and it took all those years of determined physio, etc. to regain a lot of lost territory.) Anyway, due to Covid, they didn’t keep me in the hospital. It would have been a 5-day stay in “normal” times.
But I’m lucky because the ambulance got me there super quick both times and I was tested, put on an infuse, etc. so it could have been MUCH worse or even fatal.
Anyway, here I am, alive and kicking and I sampled many perfumes during my absence from NST and fell insanely in love with Black Prestige from Mancera. WOW! I bought it two weeks ago and can’t stop wearing it exclusively and just love it! You guys know I’m crazy about Middle Eastern scents and have alot of pricey ones and I also am very fond of Montale’s Black Aoud and Roses Musk. I thought Mancera scents would be similar, but they are like very, very distant family members of Montale. Black Prestige is smooth, while Montales are harsh. This is warm, feminine, elegant and sometimes a bit boozy, other times, well it is nothing like Chanel Coromandel, but it makes me think of it. It definitely has a vintage vibe, like the wonderful aromas of my youth (I’m in my seventies). It’s like an expensive fur coat. I’m babbling too much! Okay: giant Leonberger dog (my 4th), 5 beautiful and sweet indoor cats (2 Turkish Angoras, 2 Siberian Neva Masquerades and 1 Thai). I’m getting my first Pfizer shot next week (we can’t choose which vaccine we get here in the Netherlands). I’ve missed you all!
Woah, I am so sorry about all of the health struggles, how scary!
I hope you are on the upswing from here! So glad to see you back!
Thank you. I’m the original cockeyed optimist and willing to put as much hard work as necessary into all the rehab work. There’s a whole team of doctors helping.
My dog is wonderful, as were his predecessors. I am training him myself to be my (uncertified) assistance dog. My pets are all the family I have, but they fill that function well. My cats do like some of my fragrances, but I can’t recall which ones.
I’m off to bed now, but will return here tomorrow to read through all the comments.
Yikes, so sorry for what you had gone through! I’m glad pets and perfumes make things more bearable.
Technically, we also don’t have a choice – you get what your appointment center is currently providing; however, there are ways to find out what is likely on offer. While I had a preference (J&J and which I got), I would have resigned myself to whatever vaccine was available.
Glad that you are still here with us, despite everything.
So glad to hear you got to treatment quickly. Wishing you strength in your rehab!
So good to see you, Jonette! I looked up Leonbergers and read re exercise that they can keep up with a bike and can pull small carts! Glad you are surrounded by loving creatures.
Jonette, wow, that is a LOT. How long will you be doing rehab?
So glad you are alive and well and falling in love with new perfumes! And so glad you’re getting a shot next week.
Welcome back!! I am not up on dog breeds but I do know cats and your 5 must be absolute STUNNERS! Hope all the pets have been a comfort to you as you’ve navigated your medical needs!
So sorry you had to endure so much. I think your special family will take good care of you.
That and a perfume or two.
Welcome back, and so glad that you received good treatment! Your four-legged family sounds wonderful.
Hello NST and Happy Pet Day greetings from Teflon the Wonder Cat and Spooky kitty!
Gloomy and rainy here, but I am hoping that the wet weather knocks down some of the airborne pollen. The truck’s windshield has a fine yellow dust on it currently.
SOTD = L’Eau de Chloe EdT. Why don’t I wear this more often?
My car is the cleanest it has ever been ?
Wish I could say the same about the truck! ??
those are adorable kitty names. 😀
L’Eau de Chloe was a good one.
I’m late to the party today. Our weather is gorgeous but I’m feeling not so great, just general aches and pains. Will it all be downhill from here? Sometimes it seems so. Last night I had a delightful time with two good friends for our first post-pandemic, post-jab get-together. I made asparagus and mushroom stroganoff, which I must say turned out to be terrific. Another friend brought flowers, fruit salad, and “buntinis” (small Bundt cakes), and the first friend hosted us all with her beautiful antique china and silver, and fine fluffy felines. Very festive.
Today I went to Neiman Marcus because I rather desperately needed to get something from the “intimates” department. While there, I visited the Memo desk of the perfume counters, but soon became overwhelmed by the number of new scents and flankers, not to mention how much wearing a mask impairs the whole experience. I sprayed Sintra on my hand and sprayed Marfa spices on a card. Sintra is a nasty sweet bomb to my nose, and the Marfa one isn’t different enough from regular Marfa, which I own. So I’m in an amalgam of Sintra + MFK APOM. APOM is nicer.
I have a younger brother but we’re somewhat estranged now. We communicate about Mom, but not otherwise. This is partly because he has a crazy (really) wife. They make each other miserable on three days out of every four but I told him I just do not want to hear any more about it and to leave me out of things. Also, sadly, our recent political polarizations have come into the picture. He has asked me to respect that he has had different experiences from me, but while that is true, I cannot respect the opinions that his different experiences have led him to. It’s sad, but we were never close. My cats mostly don’t notice perfume, but I recently got a nice bouquet of fat pink peonies and found one of my cats sniffing away at it with great interest.
One of my brothers is on a different political pole from me. I find it completely confounding.
It must be so hard! Nearly everyone in my family is of the same political persuasion.
Asparagus & mushroom stroganoff sounds delicious! If the recipe is online do post a link.
And so sorry you are not feeling great.
It was not clear from my description, but the asparagus was separate, as a vegetable dish. But here’s the mushroom stroganoff recipe. I had leftovers tonight and it was still quite delicious, even if I do say so myself. I made it just as the recipe directed. Mine came out more creamy-looking.

Thanks for recipe…looks delicious.
Wow, that really does look great. Thanks so much!
You smell great in APOM! And glad you and kitty are appreciating the peonies.
I sympathize with being somewhat estranged from your family due to political and personality clashes.
Most of my immediate family has become less moderate in their political views in recent years, and we have always stood on opposite sides of the aisle.
As much as I do love them, visits and calls with the fam generally need to be brief and occasional, especially during major electoral cycles.
I’m going to have to go back and read to catchup. Been dealing with our move, and we arrived at our new home today (after 10 hours of driving yesterday and 6 today.). Our kitty is confined to the master bedroom, bath and closet until all our furniture is delivered. She absolutely freaked out over our empty apartment when we let her out of her crate after the movers left.
No fragrance for me, since I was too lazy to dig into the small suitcase with my travel scents. But, I think Allure and Gabrielle Essence are siblings. I will test this theory in the future.
PSA for those who feel inclined/safe to travel. Much of NYC, outside of live theater and music, etc) is open. And we easily found a hotel for about $125 a night (including fees/taxes) in Midtown when we decided to stay a couple of nights after movers left. Never been cheaper to stay in Manhattan. Seriously…before taxes, etc. our rate was $89! Right near Grand Central.
Aw, poor freaked out kitty!
I am so tempted — a trip to NYC has been at the top of my wish list throughout the pandemic. But I will probably wait; I’m no spring chicken. ?
So glad you’re there! When does the furniture arrive?
Poor kitty! Ours who moved from West to East Coast was similarly shell-shocked by the furniture leaving the previous apartment as well as massively freaked out arriving at the new apartment.
But once our furniture was delivered to the new place… She was back to being Queen of the Castle like a switch had flipped in her head! Hopefully your girl finds her feet again quickly.
That’s exactly what I hope. She has a large soft-sided crate (really for a dog) that she was in when movers were in our apartment and then in car. We left her in there overnight on the drive, because we wanted her to stay calm. It’s now her safe house and where she sleeps.
Hello guys, just venting something fragrance related. Ahhh, my mom ordered me Ashoka on Wednesday from lucky scent (hopefully it’s okay to mention from where) and it hasn’t shipped yet 🙁 making me very impatient and impatience is one of my character defects I am working on. It’s due to CoVid protocol but still… I can’t wait to get it!!
Unfortunately, the pandemic hasn’t made me more patient. Maybe less, because there are fewer distractions.
Today I ordered my dad (with his request) Andy Tauer L’air du desert maroca also from lucky scent.
You must have a cool dad!
2nd that!
