Dolce & Gabbana have launched Velvet Black Patchouli, a new woody oriental addition to the brand's Velvet series.*
The scent opens with fruity, balsamic top notes of Indian davana oil, which mingles with zesty Tarocco Sicilian blood orange, and is offset by the dry earthy facets of Indian papyrus essence. Aromatic clary sage powers the heart of the fragrance, its fruity floral quality giving way to sweet musky undertones and hints of tabacco. The clary sage is complemented by peppery coriander seeds and the heady opulence of Bulgarian rose. Then comes the signature of the fragrance – rich, woody patchouli with its hints of spice and subtle smokiness coalesces with Spanish cistus essence, which brings a warm, dry, resinous quality to the scent. The base is enriched by Venezuelan tonka beans and notes of vanilla and caramel that leave a lingering sweetness on the skin.
Velvet Black Patchouli was developed by perfumer Rodrigo Flores-Roux.
Dolce & Gabbana Velvet Black Patchouli is available in 50 or 150 ml Eau de Parfum.

* Not to be confused with 2011's Velvet Patchouli, which does not appear to be in production.
I like the bottle, sleek
It’s what they use for that whole series. A bunch of them in different colors would look quite nice together 🙂
I always think “Patchouli!” and check it out for my husband, then think, “No, it has amber/vanilla/something else to make it less patchouli in it.”
