Tuesday, Twelfth Night + National Bird Day + Alvin Ailey's birthday. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Hermès Ambre Narguile, which I have not worn in ages, and I'm drinking a mix of half Numi Golden Chai, half Numi Chinese Breakfast. David Bowie apparently never drank tea, only coffee, so later today I'll have a latte in his honor.
Reminder: 1/8 is David Bowie's birthday. If you like, pick a favorite Bowie song and wear a perfume to match. Or, just wear a fragrance that you think fits with the occasion for whatever reason.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2021, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Herend Rothschild bird teapot is $400 at Neiman Marcus.
Good morning NST!
In Le Lion, had my one cup of coffee for the day and already looking forward to my next staycation (although I have no concrete plans for such).
That teapot is lovely.
The more I wear Le Lion, the more I love it. Yay for staycation!
It’s a good one for sure.
Good morning! You smell fantastic!
Thank you ST ?
In L’Artisan Bois Farine.
Feeling very sleepy today. Not even coffee is coming to the rescue. I will take a walk outside in a few minutes to see if some fresh air helps. I have tons of work and need to be focus on what I am doing.
Thank you all for your very kind words yesterday regarding the passing of my friend. They were very soothing and comforting.
Now, grabbing a peanut butter protein bar to see if I regain some energy.
Happy Tuesday, everyone!
Joining you with feeling sleepy – I’m on my second cup of coffee. 🙂
Sleepy twins!?. I am on my third cup of coffee and feeling better! The cloudy day is not helping, but I will survive! ?
I missed this post yesterday. So sorry to hear this. My condolences.
Thank you, Koyel.
I missed the post yesterday as well. So sorry about your friend.
Thank you, Hajusuuri.
You smell so good! I hope some energy comes into your day.
Thank you, Sistine!
After my third cup of coffee and a protein bar I almost regained my energy! Ready to face the rest of the day!
Sorry about your friend Perfumelover. I hope Bois Farine is bringing you some comfort (along with coffee and protein bar!)
I wore Bois Farine yesterday with Mimosa Pour Moi on top and found it a lovely combo…
Thank you, Merlin.
Coffee, bar and Bois Farine is a great combo to fully wake up!
Your layering sounds fantastic! I need to try it. It must be very lovely, indeed!
I missed your post yesterday also. I am so sorry for your loss. Please accept my condolences and virtual hugs. ?
Thank you, AnnE. ?
Just read your bittersweet story about your dear connection with Mrs. Davis. Your generosity and positive light for others is what the world needs to give to you, now. As someone who looked after your father, this must make the loss more difficult. If there were some favorites of hers that you passed along, even if you had no need or want, you could get a bottle to sniff and spray (when you are ready) to feel her presence in our perfumey way. I wear…Wrappings! And I feel my mother. And Ambush, which is sparing because it is not me at all. Sometimes, I just sniff the bottle.
Maybe name a few of your gifted scents that stand out?
The good news, your dad has his friend back.
You are a treasure and a pleasure. ? Always thinking of others.
Annie, thank you for your beautiful words. They made me tear.
I have samples and decants of the perfumes I gave Mrs. Davis. I don’t think I can wear them anymore, however, I will keep them just for good memories. I will sniff them later on when I want to remember her. I do the same with perfumes that my father wore. Sometimes, when I feel overwhelmed or want to feel him close I smell his perfumes. It is a very relaxing and therapeutic exercise.
I’m so sorry PL67! And you did a wonderful thing.
Thank you, Adanst.
Groggy start for me today, too…
Cold, cloudy days and the thought of starting a new year is not the best combo to be awake. Hope spring doesn’t take longer than usual to arrive.
Montale Roses Musk and a cup of English Breakfast tea for me this morning.
Both lovely choices!
Thank you 🙂
Hello all, my SOTD is Alien by Mugler. Slightly odd-ducky but beautiful jasmine/amber perfume. And happy birthday to David Bowie, one of my favorite musicians. I’ve included a cover of Heroes performed by Peter Gabriel. One of the officers, Michael Murphy is from Long Island, where I am from. To this day, It’s so beautiful and poignant.

We’re looking at apartments, with the rising crime in the city and Kevin needs to be closer to work, we have to find another residence. I’m a little wistful, I love the neighborhood I went on a hike in my favorite spot, Sutro Park. The good news is many apartments are more affordable, in some cases, $500 cheaper per month. I’m trying to look on the bright side. Below are snaps of my neighborhood. I did 15 rounds of stairs on my walk. 🙂

Love all your photos. Make me miss San Francisco. Where are you looking?
We are looking on the peninsula, looking at two places in Milbrae today. We saw a great apartment in Burlingame, with marble countertops in the kitchen, in-unit laundry, but they had a firm no-pets policy. Bummer but that’s the way it goes.
Kevin needs to be within a 1/2 hour drive of the apartment complex where he works so location is really an issue.
That’s really unfortunate about the pet policy. Burlingame is such a nice town…has such a nice downtown. But Millbrae is good too. (Great weather!) I grew up in East Bay, so my ventures down the Peninsula were mostly to those two towns when I was living in SF itself (I lived in between Laurel Heights and Fillmore awhile and then next to Yerba Buena Gardens before the ballpark went in and not a lot was there…)
I grew up in Millbrae, nice area. Lived in Burlingame for a while too, when I worked at the city library.
Totally feel you. When I moved back to the US, my fiance and I wanted to live in Palo Alto (it’s where I went to grad school, and if I had to live in the suburbs, it’s about as pleasant as a Bay Area suburb can be, right?), but seriously EVERY single apartment we looked at had a no-pets or one-pet policy (we had two cats at the time). Grrr.
However, my cats were siblings (both fuzzy little grey things who might seem identical to the untrained eye), and I suggested that we could pretend we only had one cat. Sadly, the fiance is a rule-follower and refused.
I can totally understand why a landlord wouldn’t want pets but on the other side of that, Smokey is family, he comes with us wherever we go!
As more people move, I can see landlords easing up on no-pet requirements.
Feeling nostalgic for San Francisco-great photos.
Do you mind if we become friends on IG?
I have so many fun memories there..lived my single years and really let me hair down!
Yes please! Let’s connect on IG! 🙂
Mr. Teebear and I went to San Francisco on our first of only two vacations-which-were-not-visiting-family we’ve been able to take, and we had the BEST time.
Thanks for the photos, it inspires me to get back out there again (one of many plans derailed by the-year-that-shall-not-be-spoken-of)!
That video of the ocean… ??
Sistine, we can hear the ocean, hawks, owls, and coyotes from our apartment. We do live in a stunning area of the city.
good luck apartment hunting! When we first moved from San Diego to the Central Valley (14 years ago), our trips to San Francisco on weekends made me so jealous of anyone who lived there.
My neighborhood here across the bay is filling up with the diaspora of San Fran! I hope you find a place you love.
Kevin works at an apartment complex as a maintenance supervisor – he has several move outs this month. Poor guy is so tired when he comes home. I think several people all have that same idea, move to a cheaper place!
Hope you will find your dream home.
Best of luck with your apartment hunting!
Got my test today, still able to smell my Aromatics Elixir I wear today.
Made some chocolate chip cookies to brighten my mood. Will stay away from work the rest of the week, so I can watch Criminal Intent the rest of the week and knit.
If you can smell AE, you know you’re in trouble. Criminal Intent and knitting. Good combo. I started a new hat…my first foray into cable knitting. I don’t know what I did wrong, but I needed to tink until all was righted…which I have now discovered is painful when doing a cable…?
Oh I adore Criminal Intent so much! Eames and Goren! That late episode with Roy Scheider!
Twins, Robin! I’m having an Hermes week (nay, year!) so far.
Hey twin!! I have moved on now to Ambre des Merveilles and may wear that tomorrow too.
I bet I could make it a whole year with just Hermes! But I’d have to replenish a few bottles 🙂
yay for Ambre Narguile (we smelled beautiful today) and to Hermes week! I already forgot what I wore on Monday so I’ll say I’m doing the same. Yes to Hermes 🙂
Tea is French Breakfast by MF and then some green tea by Simpson & Vail
Venting post (feel free to skip)
Mr L bruised his rib clowning around on the swings with the kiddos. Now he is the third child and moaning & groaning.
Took the kids to the dentist yesterday and was shocked the youngest has a cavity. The dentist told me that I should having them use more fluoride toothpaste so its essentially my fault. Every time I gave them toothpaste with fluoride they broke out around their mouth. So she told me that its SLS they are probably allergic too and not fluoride. Good grief. Then she went on and on how my younger one has swollen glands and he should see an ENT and have his tonsils removed. Really, at 4 years old.?…good grief Charlie Brown.
I am really grumpy today.
Perfume will help.
You have my sincerest sympathies, that sounds like a trying set of circumstances!
I try very hard not to pass judgment on Mr. Teebear’s pain tolerance… But the temptation is ever-lurking ?
I switched to using hydroxyapatite toothpaste (marketed as Remin in Canada but Apagard from Japan is the better known one) – I know there’s a few kids’ formulas available. If it turns out not to be the SLSs irritating your kids, that may be a good fluoride alternative to look into!
I am sorry to hear of so many annoyances at once!
Wow, that is good reason to be grumpy! Our dentist always prescribed fluoride tablets for the kids (which, I am ashamed to admit, I wasn’t very good at remembering to have them take). Maybe that’s a way to get that fluoride in them? Having said that, my younger daughter also had a cavity fairly early on, but hasn’t had a ton since then (she’s had a few over the years).
Funnily enough, we also saw a doctor for the tonsils for the same daughter (a couple of years ago), who apparently has “huge” tonsils and mild apnea. After the specialist doc described the procedure in more detail to us, my daughter more or less leapt out of the chair and left the room. The ENT doc also said she felt there wouldn’t be much gained from tonsil removal, so it might be worth to talk to the specialist about it.
I feel Mr. L’s pain. I did that once (on a carnival ride) and had to take a day off work..I couldn’t even drive to the train. Good news, it was much better next day or so. So hopefully the whine is temporary.
I dislike dentists or doctors who are scolds.
Children often have swollen glands. You can have a follow up visit with your GP in 3 months’ time to check on it. Also, as a rule tonsils aren’t routinely removed these days -unless they’re really HUGE and cause obstruction. But mostly little kids’ snoring is due to adenoids. My brother is a dentist, and though I know I know nothing about dentistry, for some reason he believes he knows a lot about medicine.
Thanks!
My chubby buddha doesn’t snore..or wake up at night. But the dentist has scared me into thinking he will develop sleeping problems. We talked more about this than his actual teeth!
UGH- what a way to start the year!
You deserve a warm & soothing bath with a cup of herbal tea!
O! So sorry! Be grumpy.
I fall into Mr. L.’s broken ribs category, as well. Pretty sure I whined a lot.
Don’t take one doctor’s opinion too seriously, try other toothpaste options and maybe see an ENT, but don’t panic. I hate judgy scolding doctors.
Oh no, on all fronts!! Hope you are getting some down time this evening, ack.
Oh no is right! I hope things improve with the toothpaste scenario. I can’t use Arm & Hammer, some ingredient in it doesn’t work, the skin around my mouth breaks out terribly.
Definitely get a second opinion on that tonsil removal!
Not a healthcare professional so please take with a grain of salt:
I say a dermatologist for consultation on toothpaste.
Tonsils – usually, if there are 5 tonsillitis episodes within a 12 month period, the tonsils come out
Oh poor Mr. L!
Cancel the dentist
Just threw in 2 loads of laundry. Think I’ll try the Jersey sample I got at Christmas.
You will be very peaceful and zen in Jersey while doing laundry… 🙂
One thing that crosses my mind when I think of Bowie..is stage make up/cosmetics. Life on Mars video being an example. Pairing with Drole de Rose, which has a make up scent:).
Life on Mars official video with blue eyeshadow and metallic, melon pink lip gloss lol:).
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=AZKcl4-tcuo
Great video — sometimes I forget how many times Bowie changed his look.
Wore Shalimar Ode a la Vanille earlier but now in Givenchy III and going into work. Had to spend some time cleaning out a bath tub drain full of hair. Now I have to switch to a different hair trap to prevent this stuff and I am not shaving my head.
No, don’t shave your head!
After a year of only purchasing a few perfumes, I purchased more than usual in late November and early December. I bought Chanel’s 1957 in late November and Le Lion in early December. I also purchased several bargain perfumes from Molinard, i.e. Vanille, Patchouli, Cuir, Musc and a bottle of Atelier’s Iris Rebel. As if they weren’t enough, I also purchased a bottle of Parfum de Marly Delina and a bottle of Le Jardins de Reprouve (sp.) Cuir de Russie. I am now on a “no buy” now, which even includes samples.
I won a sample set of Le Jardin Retrouvé last month and am just sampling Cuir de Russie this morning! It’s quite enchanting. I wasn’t expecting to like it as I’m not typically a violet fan, but I adore it.
Le Jardin Retrouve’s Cuir de Russie is full bottle worthy. The bottle is lovely and actually is re-usable. The fragrance is beautiful. I purchased a sample set and tried them all and I liked more than one of course. However, I always thought that the first full bottle I would buy from that House would be the Cuir de Russie and I am so happy that I did.
I made a forest trail ride on horseback this morning. It was cold but with two merino layers and on top of that a woolen windbreaker, gloves and a merino legging, i was amazingly comfy.
I helped doing chores around the stables and just returned home.
I never wear perfume when i am around horses. Lots of smelly impressions already ?and soms horses dislike perfume.
Ill probably wear a jasmine scent later but first.. i need a shower?
That sounds like a fabulous morning!
I picked Jasmin et Cigarette, by ELdO, from a sample.
Its been a while since I tried it.
Big like, but not love.
What fun!
Oeillet Bengale from Aedes today. Any idea if the brand is really disappearing?
You smell great!
I may commented earlier here about this issue. But yes I think Aedes has stopped. I read it somewhere but sorry ?i cannot remember the source.
What I DO remember is their whole line going on sale 2 years ago here in the netherlands at Skins. I was able to get my hands on a bottle of iris nazarena. But I only thought this brand was being dropped from that store only.
Now I see the brand no longer available in lots of other well known indie/niche perfumeries. ?
I was lucky enough to find a travel spray of this set early last year. It’s such a great scent. They seem to still have it on their own website in the 3.4 oz. Most of their others are out of stock.
I wish I knew. What I loved about that brand besides all their perfumes, is that unlike other perfume houses, they usually only came out with one fragrance a year and it was always a gorgeous fragrance. I have all of their fragrances. I have had a feeling for a long time that something is going on (or not going on any longer) as nothing has been heard from or written about them. Even their we site (the last time I looked at it) was mostly about samples and not full bottles.
I do not know, but I never believe anything that isn’t direct from the brand.
Wearing just a couple of dabs of LADDM today, from an old decant that has served me quite well over the past few years. It might simply be getting concentrated with age, since only a couple of drops seems to do me well for several hours.
I have a full bottle of LADDM and believe me, a little spritz goes a long way….you smell amazing.
Yes, you smell amazing! I have a mini of that one that has evaporated at an alarming rate. As it’s evaporated it’s also gotten concentrated so I would guess your decant has too.
I couldn’t remember if you wanted a bottle of Bois Blonde or Boise Des Paradise.
Forgive my spelling, I don’t have them in front of me.. And only a sample of Paradise. Which you are welcome to.☺
Hmmm, AnniePerfumes, if it was me, it was probably Bois de Paradis. Were we talking about perfumes we wished weren’t discontinued?
Probably. You are asking the person with the world’s worst memory.
LAdDM is gorgeous! And a little goes a long way on me as well. I have one of Tauer’s little spray samples that has lasted at least 4 years.
Oeillet Sauvage again. I really have difficulty remembering how to spell “oeillet” and that’s not helped by my brain persistently summoning up Olive Oyl. I’m on call today, and am hoping that if I’m needed and haven’t succeeded in removing every trace at least it might translate as a fancy soap.
I have the same problem with “trompe l’oeil.”
Could you spritz your perfume on clothing, and then change if you get called in?
Yes, “trompe l’oeil” doesn’t seem right either. Maybe that wildly inconsistent “i before e except after c” plays a part, I dunno…
Good suggestion re spritzing on clothing! This particular perfume is in a wonky decant that dribbles rather than sprays, but I can try that with something else. Or buy a bottle …;)
Fingers crossed for you Holly, hope you got a day of peace!
Aw, thank you Robin! So far so good… Hope you had a peaceful day yourself.
Long but relatively peaceful, thanks 🙂
I always have to look up “oeillet”, too. You are not alone!
Thanks, Jalapeno! I’m in good company. ?
I’m wearing Eiderantler by January Scent Project today. I’m going to try to wear all of my January Scent projects at least once this month, because… January.
Feeling severe hankerings to go to California. I really miss it.
Ha perfect project for january, love it.
I have a sample set. I remember liking them a lot but i still need to retry them (like the other dozens and dozens of samples in my shoe box ?).
I can totally understand your hankerings for California. I was just daydreaming about going to Florida when I was getting ready this morning.
I spent an hour Sunday morning looking at hotels in Grenada, where we went in February the last 2 years…we are not going anywhere but I could not stop myself.
It’s my day off today, and I’m wearing Organza. I’m about to clean the kitchen and start making Cowboy Stew. I hope it turns out ok.
Enjoy your day off! You smell great!
Thank you!
GiddyUp.? Enjoy your day off! I’m sure your stew will be great!
Is the sun shining there???
Heck no, it’s not shining!
Are you sending some my way?
Yes! Look for it tomorrow!??
Glad you can rest today, enjoy the cooking.
Thanks! I’m looking forward to dinner time!
How did your stew turn out?
I’m coming over…
Olfactory NYC Hunter today. Tempted to write it off as not that interesting, but I keep smelling and it smiling!
Ah, and interesting isn’t everything, right? Smiling is just as important.
Sampling Le Jardin Retrouvé Cuir de Russie on one hand to start the morning off. I am most unexpectedly smitten and will have this be SOTD.
I feel like Bowie would have liked this Cuir de Russie. He did a performance with the (now defunct) La La La Human Steps ages ago, one of my favorite companies and choreographers with Eduard Locke.
https://youtu.be/hnZIR41ZuyU
I made sourdough bread, waffles and a great beef stew yesterday – apparently Mr. Teebear found the stew delicious enough that what I had imagined to be 6-8 servings will only stretch to 4 or so! Time to regroup and figure out meal planning for the rest of the week, but I guess it’s a tribute as well as a minor dilemma.
I love a good beef stew, and I think it’s usually even better the next day.
I’ve had Mr. Jalapeno do the same thing with a dinner that I think will be multiple meals.
Chanel 1931 Rue Cambon. This will be Chanel week, interrupted by Hiram Green Day Thursday (if the mail arrives as promised). Getting myself back into professional mode with professional scents.
We’re planning to redo our bathroom in late Feb. Our contractor directed me to a place that sells a ton of well priced vanities etc. I made the mistake of going to a proper showroom yesterday….so much more beautiful, and so much more expensive. Will have to go back to the well priced place today to find a consolation vanity.
Consolation vanity, lol.
Chanel definitely feels professional and classy to me, I’ve never smelled 31 RC, but I’m sure you smell great!
31 RC is something you must smell. just my opinion.
You may want to look into whether or not a great bathroom renovation pays for more than itself in increased value. I know kitchen remodels do, just not quite sure about bathrooms.
Wearing L’heure Bleu EDP from a bottle which arrived yesterday. I remembered this as being beautiful and mysterious from first spray, but this bottle seems to bounce a little from medicinal (like Iris Silver Midst) and fecal (Like Jicky) before settling down to the deep mysterious scent of my memory. Was this bottle a reformulation? A damaged bottle? or has my ability to discern different elements grown? At any rate, that slightly sad mysterious base is worth it.
Bowie’s art (including his public image, which seemed to be as carefully framed as an album) varied so wildly, I have trouble imaging any one scent as capturing him.
Someone has probably already said it here, but apparently he wore Minotaure, although someone on Basenotes said they met him and he was wearing A*Men, I think?
And see:
http://www.katiepuckriksmells.com/2015/04/fumes-in-news-what-does-david-bowie.html
I was twins with you today in LB.
SOTD is DSH Twelfth Night. Tomorrow will be Three Kings. I’m not really familiar with David Bowie’s music so no CP for me this week.
Oh, you win today I think!
Just drained my second small decant of Bitter Peach. Was thinking that I could pass on this one, especially because the cost is so crazy, when my husband walked past and exclaimed about how amazing I smell. . . I said, “I can pull this trick again, but it will definitely cost you!” Bah! I have so many perfumes at the moment. . . mortgaging a lung for this TF seems silly. But it is a lovely perfume. Perhaps it will wind up at the discounters soon.
I am looking forward to sampling this once I am in airports again (assuming some duty free will have it). Or once I am allowed in San Francisco again! 🙂 🙁
Maybe a good candidate for a splitmeet… 😉
2nd.
Splitmeet?
Freebie Alert!
On the twelfth day of Christmas I’m offering for free
A 12 piece Hermetica sampler
This is a 12 piece sample set of Hermetica’s “molecular perfumes”. It is actually 13 vials as it includes a vial of “source” which is supposed to be the base used in all 12 perfumes.
Also unclaimed from yesterday is
11 Bond no 9 New Yorks
11 sample vials from Bond no 9’s New York series. See yesterday’s listing for the names of the perfumes. I’m not typing them out from my phone.
would love to dib on the Hermetica if it’s still available – sending email in a moment!
I was going to go with something Guerlain again yesterday evening/this morning, but ended up putting on some Avojuice Jasmine hand lotion, which was quite pleasant.
Oh, and I meant to say, “Pretty teapot!” 🙂
It’s more fussy than my usual but I like it too!
Is your lotion heavily fragrant? I think I’ve seen Avojuice at ULTA but know nothing about it.
I wouldn’t say the fragrance is super-heavy. Certainly ,noticeable, but not projecting a long way as far as I can tell. I found the Avojuice lotions at Marshall’s. They were cheap there.
Wearing EL Modern Muse Nuit layered with Gallagher Vanilla Silk which were both 4th quarter blind buys.
Vanilla Silk layers very well with other fragrances I have found and this was his original intent w/ the Silk Series…wish he would rerelease them all as a discovery set…the others are below. I think this was in 2017 which was before this brand was on my radar.
Vanilla
Lavender
Bergamot
Black Currant
Tobacco
Orange Blossom
Jasmine
Mandarin
Sandalwood
Tulip
Are you back at work or still taking some time off? I hope your healing is proceeding well!
I am still remote and have been working right along. I am very lucky and continue to feel better and better. The last couple days especially like the turning of a proverbial corner.♥️ Thank you for the well wishes. ?
I’m in Elie Saab L’eau Couture, which is not something that I would have sought out but it was a freebie from a generous NSter and it is lovely! And work appropriate.? I read Angela’s review of this one and she is spot on.
SOTD: Bas de Soie.
Eating Turkish take out from the ethnic neighbourhood that I drive through on my way home sometimes. I always order the same things, so when I opened my mouth to order, the proprietor completed my sentence! It reminded me of the movie Two Weeks’ Notice.
A year ago I ordered something off the menu at my favorite Turkish place and when I pronounced the vegetarian dish he must of heard me wrong, and brought me something completely different. I asked what it was, and it is manti, a beef (sometimes lamb) stuffed ravioli in a yogurt and herb sauce. He explained there is a woman who makes it homemade just for the Resturant.
Oooh man Turkish food is so good!
Sometimes when I fly (flew? Do we just make it past tense now? Lol) I’d get routed through Ataturk Airport and would be SO PLEASED because it meant I could stuff myself full of borek and other tasty treats.
I love Turkish food too! So many good fish dishes when we visited there! And a lamb shishkabob made with pistachios. Omg! I don’t eat lamb now but love vegetarian dishes like Imam Bayildi (eggplant)!
Since I just confessed to Donatella, my SOTD is Wrappings. I think it is Bowie approved, has good staying power. I have not been very motivated this week to tackle the vast of array of project for 2021, but no worries–it’s not like I am going anywhere for the next few months.
Hiya scent twin!
I’m still on holiday for the next few days, it’s the longest break I’ve taken over Christmas and I’m thoroughly enjoying it. I’ve always had the view that several short breaks were better, but I’m starting to wonder if I’ve been wrong for the 35 years of working life 🙂
This morning, I can still smell last night’s Salome, which is no surprise. Post shower, I’ll explore some more samples, and probably add to my growing list of future purchases.
Your remnants of Salome smell amazing! (That’s on my FB wishlist).
Happy Tuesday!
1) Am in LM Creme Brulee.
2) Back to work! Argh, so much to do for the beginning of the year!
3) My friend moved in and honestly, I think marriages have their own stories and their own lives. All I can do is give support and guidance on preparing for a life on one’s own.
You done good! Hope it works out well for your friend and she shows her gratitude (I know you did not do it for the ?).
i just want her to heal and plot out this next phase of her life! And be comfortable doing so!
SotD = Ambre Narguile
Shamelessly copying you, Robin, you smell delicious.
AN sits on my desk, tempting me every day. I love it around the winter holidays. I’ve worn it about 10 times in the past month. I apply a tiny-almost-homeopathic dose so that I have to put my nose up to my wrist. Makes me breathe deep and relax a little every time I smell it, plus the perfumista salute feels good. 😉
Hey, we are triplets 🙂
awesome!!! 😀 😀 😀
How about 8 sprays? ?
I think of you all the time because I spritz lavishly, and count my 8+.
I can handle an 8 spray day when I wear a legit cologne, but real perfume – not so much! 😉
I dug out Fille en Aiguilles today and am remembering how much I love it. It’s a good one for a post-rainstorm chilly day, and since I’ll be spending my afternoon bushwhacking through burned forest I thought FeA’s smoky resinous loveliness would fit right in.
Was it perfect?
I’m wearing Box of Eels parfum today. Isabella reminded me that our Eagle Creek trailhead, burned to bits along with a lot of the Columbia River Gorge due to a teenager with a firework, reopened this weekend. It took three years to clear the damaged trees and repair the trails. I will go hiking there on Thursday and see the changes.
Smelling wonderful today.
Lost Cherry.
Lost Cherry was a blind buy with a coupon and points. Love it. Reminds me of London, minus the leather, plus the booze.
Do we know if there is a 3rd vaccine in the works? I won’t take either of the two available.
This isn’t political, but, please remove if people feel it falls outside the boundaries.
Peace and love for this new year.
I don’t know of any other vaccines. I can make you a stiff drink in the meantime…( I need one too)
I’ll happily partake, cheers!
There are a number of other vaccines under development. The NY Times has a detailed explanation of how the next one is supposed to work.
Great! I’ll check that out. What a relief to know that there are more vaccines on the way!
As long as there is no pro or con vaccine debate or anything related, I do not see why the question would be out of bounds.
Thanks, I just didn’t want to start a ruckus.
It is too special here. I save my ruckus-ing for others.?
Ha, ruckus-ing is my specialty!
AFAIK, the only country to have approved 3 vaccines is the UK. I haven’t heard anything about another one for the US.
I’ll be patient, Jalapeno. Just missing my family, especially the older ones, a lot more. Like the rest of the world.
And, I’m in Wrappings, too. ☺ My mother’s signature scent and her bottles. I love that you opened NST 2020 to wearing Wrappings around Christmas. Bless your ?.
I’m pretty sure Johnson & Johnson has something in the works; possible submission for FDA approval in February. I trust the U.S. vaccines more than from any other country.
February? Fantastic! This is almost the Epiphany, so it is like a Christmas present to get THAT news!
I’m wearing Lipstick Rose, which I don’t dislike. I don’t love it, and I don’t think I’d spring for a decant. I sprayed quite heavily, trying to use up a sample, but it is really light on my skin. I have to hold my arm up to my nose to smell it. I thought that this one was a powerhouse, but if so, not on me.
How odd! I wanted to wear that today but found that my little travel spray bottle is stuck and won’t spray! I do like it but have to be in a certain light gay mode to wear it!
One of the FM that I cannot stand (smells like how I imagine a mortician’s make-up kit smells)
I stared at Ambre Narguile for a second this morning…almost scent twins.
But I took off work today to get the brain poke test (pretty sure I just have a cold, but better safe than sorry) so I’m testing a sample…SOTD is Jovoy Sombres Dessins. It smells like the hottest day in August, which is a nice mental getaway.
Good luck on the results. Brain poke LOL and not.LOL!
Lovely teapot but I’m sure I would break the little rose on top.
Wearing my favourite chocolate fragrance, Missoni Gianduia.
I’ve never heard of this but chocolate is ?
YSL Tuxedo today. Off to the vet for missy’s annual exam. Back to finish reading later!
Good luck with Missy’s annual exams!
I’m really glad I took her in, she had been scratching her ears, turns out she had an embedded foxtail and they had to operate. Poor baby girl. Other than that she’s in perfect shape. Going to pick her up shortly. Thank you for your kind thoughts. 🙂
Great news! I hope she feels better from the operation soon! ?
She’s quite zonked right now, hopefully tomorrow she will be back to her old self.
Awww, poor baby. Glad you took her in; I hope she’s feeling better soon.
Yes, my poor sweetheart, I feel sorry for her. We’re cuddled up in bed.
Yeek! Glad that foreign object is gone!
Me too! And here I thought she had fleas!
Glad she is better. Lots of smooches for her, I’m sure!
Thank you!
Rough day for mom! Happy all worked out for you and Missy.
Yes, I worry about her. Thanks!
Morning SOTD: Jo Malone White Moss & Snowdrop, but in honor of Twelfth Night, I’ll probably switch over to Tudor Rose & Amber after work!
That Tudor Rose & Amber sounds lovely!
Hiya NST! Well, the back is still angry at me. But as near as I can tell, it’s not getting any worse. I have recently changed my pillow use; I went from sleeping on 2 pillows to one. It could be due to stress. There’s been more than usual lately. And I do have a cat that occasionally sleeps with/on me. Thanks to everyone who offered suggestions and commiserated with me yesterday.
SOTD = back in Wrappings!
Sorry that your back is misbehaving! Ugh, I’ve been there. Hope it clears up soon.
Thank you Gail. The last time I had back pain, it didn’t stick around long, so I am hoping the same thing happens this time.
Feel better soon, Jalapeno! I’ve found Bob and Brad on YouTube (they’re physical therapists) to be really helpful for all kinds of aches and pains. They’re pretty cheesy, but I find that oddly comforting – like dad jokes. YMMV. ?
Thanks Holly!
My dad had THE worst puns ever. I groan about some of them decades later.
Sorry you’re still creaky, hopefully it will clear up fast!
Thank you cazaubon!
You smell good but boo hiss on the back pain. I need to put my thinking cap on re: a book on healing back pain recommended by, of all people, a FM SA (she was out of commission for some time due to back pain but you couldn’t tell once she was back).
My back is feeling better at this time tonight than it was last night, so that’s a good sign. Not gonna rush things.
Joining you in the evening edition with Wrappings.
This is Christmas in a bottle.
I think Wrappings might be a 4-season perfume for me. I will have fun finding out…
It was for my mother. Her signature. I had no idea how many sets she hadn’t used up when she passed away. I’ll have them forever.
Hope your back feels better soon. Good luck sleeping tonight!
I’m frustrated because my sweetest cat Kayla has ongoing bowel problems. (Yes she is the accidental biter. But I love her.) After a lot of trial and error I found a kitty probiotic that really helps. But every so often it goes out of stock everywhere and now I have lots of messes. Sorry to post on bad smells.
I’m wearing Diorella today and finding it too elusive. Might have needed to spray more?
I’m going to make a black-eyed pea salad tonight, to try to get on board this weird Southern New Years tradition. I found a good sounding recipe.
I tried to vote in the poll but it wouldn’t work. Anyway I only bought one FB this quarter.
Sorry to hear that your sweet kitty is not at her best right now.
Healing vibes for your kitty.
Sorry about Kayla…hopefully she’ll be set back to rights soon!
Awe. Poor Kayla. If you want, you can email me the probiotic name. I might be able to help.
Wore L’Heure Bleu edp today, just 2 or 3 sprays. I’m trying to give a few of my neglected bottles some attention. Even at this rate I won’t ever need to buy anything else, but who am I kidding? ?
Too many interesting ‘shinies’ out there, right?
Ha! I am pushing myself to not only track my wears but wear two different scents per day, in an effort to actually wear what I have.
Very late to the parteeee!
Love the teapot!

More tomorrow.
How are you enjoying it? I am very pleased with mine.
Love it!
I want more tonight.☺
LOL!
