The daily lemming

Posted by Robin on 18 December 2020 9 Comments

A lemming for fans of Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb? The Haute Couture edition: "To celebrate Flowerbomb's 15th Anniversary, Viktor&Rolf designed a sumptuous rose gold dress for the iconic Flowerbomb bottle made of thorny branches and flowers. Created with state of the art 3d printing techniques, this limited edition is one of only 15 pieces in the world. The bottle is contained in a luxurious calligraphied case hand numbered in rose gold. An object of pure desire for the most precious and explosive fragrance." $2500 for 50 ml Eau de Parfum, at Viktor & Rolf.

Or just buy a 3D printer for way less money and print/paste them on the regular el cheapo bottle…meh.

Heh, but where would you get the template for sumptuous rose gold dress? Technically, I should all over this because rose gold but the perfume is totally meh.

For me, the line between extremely expensive highly decorated couture items and tacky, tacky, tacky, gets extremely thin sometimes, and is often non-existent.
This bottle is one of the items with a non-existent line. I, too, am a rose-gold lover, but this bottle wouldn’t sit well with my collection, if it were a $22.30 TC MAXX special, let alone that listed price. What were they thinking, really?

Heh, that is part of the problem – they’re not!

They were thinking they could find at least 15 people to dish out $2500 for this.

They were thinking: this isn’t about selling this dumb thing at all, but getting media play.

And maybe the ticky-tacky bottle will seem aspirational to those who are the target demo for the perfume?
