Hump Day and Jane Austen’s birthday (check out the 360-degree virtual tour of the Jane Austen House in Chawton). What fragrance are you wearing?
We're expecting snow to roll in later today. I'm countering with a spritz of high summer — Parfum d'Empire Azemour Les Orangers.
Reminder: on 12/18 we're doing Best of 2020...wear one of your favorite fragrance releases of 2020.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2020, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: top image is detail from Watercolour of Jane Austen by her sister, Cassandra, 1804 via Wikimedia Commons, public domain.
Eau Premiere today. Feel like we’ve (midwest) dodged a possibly significant snow, phew!
Think I’m going to be in a repeat of last Friday’s scent this Fri, as it’s the only 2020 fragrance I’ve tried. It won’t be a sacrifice, though?
You smell wonderful!
You smell super great.
Good stuff!
Chanel le lion
Fourth day in a row.
If I had a new bottle, I would wear it 4 days in a row too. It’s that good!
That will be my Friday scent !
Mine too!
You smell amazing obviously.
its wonderful all day into the evening. I am glad I bought.
Only six bottles this year and love each one.
I can’t wait to try this one. I’m reading such good things about it.
My bottle arrived today. Been huffing my wrists ever since.
I like Jane Austin novels.
I am testing Shalimar Philtre de Parfum for the second day in a row. It definitely smells like a Shalimar, but it is lighter and thinner. Lavender is not as strong as I expected – it is there, but it does not stand out. Overall, while it is not an iconic scent, I think it is a nice addition to Shalimar family.
What say you about the lemon and vanilla levels?
I think they added some vanilla, although I feel this is more Shalimar with a lower level of its dark, leathery acсord than Shalimar with more vanilla. I can smell lemon, but it does not stand out. It makes the fragrance brighter and lighter but lacks juiciness and tartness of your typical lemon scent. And I think it is more lemon peel than its flesh.
Thanks. Already own Shalimar, plus one of the ode/vanille flankers—this may not be a must-have.
Thanks for this intel! 🙂 I am, of course, all about the vanilla and not Team Leather but I am also curious by nature so will probably seek some out eventually.
This one might be your cup of tea.
wow!
Ears are perking up.
Do you like it?
Did you get a sample?
Tell me more per favore!
Yes, I got a sample. Funny thing is that when I first tried it yesterday my initial thoughts were: 1) yes, this is definitely a Shalimar (I was afraid it would smell nothing like it), 2) I can barely smell lavender, so lovestosmellgood may like it. 🙂
Truth be told, it becomes a bit more generic after a while – less like a Shalimar and more like a nice fresh vanilla scent. I like it, but I do not love it. It feels soft and cuddly. I am keeping my sample.
How is the longevity and the projection?
Well, my mother smelled it from another room (my door was open) when I applied, so the initial projection is good, but I think it sticks closer to skin later. Longevity… I can smell it very well about two-three hours later, but only if I bring my wrist to the nose.
But I am the kind of person who needs to reapply almost everything after 3 hours. 😀
Thanks for the review and your thoughts on this one!
You are welcome!
Good morning Y’all,
Feeling like a proper lady in a 2002 version of Lancome Climat! I truly was born in the wrong perfume decade….my favorites seem to be from the 60’s and 70’s.
Already thinking about the Friday challenge and wondering if I’ve tried anything from this year? LOL Surely I have a sample of something on my mess of a desk! 🙂
I recently bought a bottle of Climat, probably modern. I haven’t opened it yet.
It’s sooooooooo good!! I hope you love it too. Please let me know if your bottle or box has a batch code if you have a chance? My bottle came from Fragrancebuy.ca so I know it’s legit, and I understand that some of the older Climat bottles don’t have a batch code, but it still bugs me! 🙂
Anyhoo, the box a copyright of the Lancome logo of 2002, so that’s the year I’m guessing it was bottled?
I’ve never heard of that retailer, will check it out!
I checked my box and based on what I read about Lancome batch codes on Raiders of the Lost Scent, I have a bottle from 1998.
Thank you!
So what is it like? I’ve never smelled it but am very curious.
It’s an old style goodie! Think of Guerlain Mitsouko, Estee Lauder Youth Dew, or Guerlain Vol de Nuit. Lots of aldehydes, civet, and a bouquet of flowers…..sooooooo great!
Sometimes I feel the same way. I tend to love the fragrances of the 60s and 70s. Maybe it’s because we smelled them on our Moms ? Or our Mom’s friends?
Totally yes! The smell is just reminiscent of my childhood memories I think, though I can’t always pin down the smell…..
Both my grandmothers wore this style perfume, so I love these kind of scents. It’s a warm hug from both of them!
I’m wearing Chergui, since I couldn’t find my CdG Incense decants. I have three that I haven’t tried yet, and I was hoping to wear them this week. Maybe next week.
Smelling wonderful in Chergui!
Pre-shower Carmindy wanderlove
A friend of mine who is a qvc shopper gave me a bottle of this and I think it fits the CP since I think is a 2020 fragrance.
Notes are ..aquatic and..beachy. A young fresh fragrance that is light and airy, almost like a body splash. I would never buy this for myself.
Post shower
Songes!
Ah!
So beautiful!
Your comment about never buying it for yourself made me laugh. One time I was sniffing with a friend at the mall and there was something- I don’t even remember what it was- that we sniffed and I said, “Eh, not for me. It smells too clean. I don’t like to smell clean,” lol. Immediately regretted how that came out haha.
Ha, I don’t want to smell clean too. It’s boring
☝️ this!
Love that clean comment
I second this motion!
Clean scents and I are not buddy-buddy, either. Some can make my sinuses hurt!
Robin, you smell great!
I’m in Tom Ford Grey Vetiver, an old favorite of mine.
That’s a good one!
Thank you and so do you!
Woke up in Lyric today. Cleveland is about to have some snow starting up soon and I hope the electricity stays on this time. I have Clinique Wrappings arriving today and I can’t wait to open the package. Wearing Givenchy III today. I need a little extra backbone for work today.
Ditto on the electricity!!
Ooh. I did order the Wrappings set last week when it was a lemming. Still waiting for it to get here — I think it is scheduled to arrive today but am not sure (the delivery notice just says “fulfillment center”). I am excited!
Mine arrived yesterday! I am pleased. The lemming was well worth it.
Hi all, my SOTD is SJP’s Covet, I don’t wear this nearly often enough, the dry down is so wonderful.
It’s supposed to rain tonight, espresso consumed, shoes on and I’m out the door! 🙂
Have a great walk SmokeyToes!
It was a great walk! We did six miles yesterday, and four today. My miles are looking pretty good for this week!
Good for you! I keep aspiring, then not doing.
Covet is a nice choice, I like it most in spring
Oooh, I wore Azemour last night, too! Love that one, and keep hoping Santa will bring me a FB. Rain here again today…rain and more rain.
But dinner out alone last night was good, and even the cat didn’t seem overly harassed when we got home. Despite all my mother-in-law’s worries, it was fine. (My spouse: “You have to remember that she is my brother’s mother.” His brother was the kid who saw every alarmed door at a museum or public space as a challenge…)
A dinner out sounds so nice.
Hope Santa is listening!
Sounds like MIL is battle-tested 🙂
SOTD is Tonka Imperiale from a decant I got in one of the Swapmeets. I’m really enjoying the vanilla-ish vibe in this chilly weather. It’s supposed to get to near freezing tonight.
You smell nice. It is below freezing here and snow, lots of it!
SotD = Creed Jardin d’Amalfi
From a decant, generously shared with me by a wonderful NSTer.
Peppery and full of citrus so far, and I think the musky base is already peeking through. It’s like a cologne turned up to an 11. 🙂
Who’s your favorite Emma – Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Beckinsale, Alicia Silverstone, or Anya Taylor-Joy?
Happy Wednesday, fragrance friends. I hope the weather treats you well wherever you are.
Nice quiz! I’m realizing I’ve only seen the version with Gwyneth Paltrow. I wonder if there was a BBC version that I saw that was earlier though?
yes, I do remember a BBC Emma from about 10 years ago. I really enjoyed it. I find the story feels more real to me when I don’t recognize any of the actors. 🙂
Love this poll! I’m partial to GP, although I did enjoy the Anya Taylor-Joy version as well.
GP was my favorite Emma for a long time, but I’m feeling like Anya is the perfect “update” for the old story. 🙂
Funny, I was pondering which Emma movie I liked best just last night. As if! I’ll go with Alicia Silverstone.
lol! one of my fave lines (because it sounds very modern yet still very Emma) was “I’m not a prude, I’m just highly selective.” 🙂
Hmmm. I was completely unaware of a Kate Beckinsale Emma. Must investigate.
I actually enjoyed all the others, haven’t seen the Paltrow version in so long as to remember any critical opinions. The Taylor-Joy version has some defects, down to directing and script. Clueless will always be beloved.
Nice choice Robin! We’re also expecting The big storm, I’m waiting for my kids to arrive back from school, they have a half-day today due to the impending weather.
I’m wearing Jovan musk cologne, I got it on Amazon for about $10, and I’m keeping it by my sugar in the kitchen so I see it every day. I think of it as my “trainer” perfume. I didn’t wear this in the 80s or 90s and I have no reference point for it. I do recognize the smell of white musk however – smells like some thing a lot of girls wore – so to me that smells more juvenile, but it also kind of reminds me something I imagine Maria Antoinette would be thrilled if she got her hands on it.
I gave a lot of my samples and unused bottles to my neighbor who loves perfume and also has two teenage daughters. Now that I have less perfume I’m wearing it more!
I have a bottle of Jovan musk also! I think you smell good!
I remember buying myself a bottle of Jovan Musk from my local McCrory’s department store when I was a teen.
We got a medium to light storm at best, although looks like we still have some “wintry mix” to come. Hope we don’t wake up to 2 inches of ice.
No SOTD, yet, but I think I will reach for my decant of Le Lion, inspired by all the love it’s getting here these days!
Our nearly brand new furnace (new when we purchased the house a year and a half ago) is being fussy, just in time for winter, and Mr. Spicebomb is taking it personally. Somehow water is trickling down the pipes into the pilot light area, preventing it from igniting. We have a service call on the way, eventually, but in the mean time we are having to play with it and try to convince it to get going. We’ve had some cold mornings this week.
I made peanut butter peanut brittle last night to enjoy and share in little Christmas treat tins I’m slowly putting together. It’s lovely, like the inside of a Butterfinger, but without the gross fake vanilla taste. Kinda hard to break into pieces, though. I might be giving folks teensy little shards of brittle instead of proper pieces.
Oh goodness that brittle sounds so good! Good luck with the furnace issues.
Maybe a little brittle fell into my mouth when I cut it up this morning. Pretty yummy!
Been there, done that. It happens when the exhaust pipe tilts upwards too much, and it’s cold enough to condense the moisture in the pipe. So then it trickles back into the furnace, yay. We had to re-jigger the slope of our exhaust pipe, and we put a small hole in the bottom of the pipe so the water could drip out instead of running back.
Yes, we were wondering if it was something like that. Was it a big deal to “rejigger the slope?” We’re hoping it doesn’t require a contractor, etc?
For us, the exhaust pipe was fully accessible (under the house) so we just adjusted the straps that were holding it up.
That’s reassuring. Fingers crossed it’s simple for us, too!
Wow, how helpful! Good luck Marjorie Rose.
Trying 4160 Tuesdays Clouds today…green citrus vanilla so far in the opening.
Heaven help me but we are planning on 2 kittens…Hans and Greta which I believe are the diminutives of Hansel and Gretel eaheheh????. Haven’t met them yet but it is exciting and lots to do.?
Yay for kitties!
YEs! it is such fun.
Kitties! Yes! One is purring on my lap right now.
Kitties!!!!!!
I believe it is actually the other way around—Hansel and Gretel are the diminutives of Hans and Greta.
Yes it is!
Thanks…I wondered if I it backwards.?
Hooray!!! Kitties!!!!
I would love a kitten, but the boyfriend is allergic
Yes for kitties!!! A pair is at least 5 times the joy of 1, and worth any trouble they get up to.
Aww, kitties! So much cuteness!
Yay for kittens! And Clouds, which I dearly love. I get a fair amount of narcissus.
Oh, best of luck with the new kittens! ?
Woo hoo on the kitties. I got my package yesterday and opened it today. Have not smelled anything yet – oh the pressure!
Avignon but honestly because it’s still on my blouse from a few weeks ago. That probably sounds gross, but I only wore it for a couple of hours and didn’t eat or anything, so I just threw it back on the hanger. When I put it on, just decided to go with the Avignon that still lingered on it.
love this.
Hey, washing it would have wasted that lovely lingering Avignon! You smell fab.
I don’t think your gross, some of my dry clean only clothing gets re worn several times
Not gross at all! If you didn’t spill something on it, or sweat up a storm in it, you’re fine. Especially if the clothing is dry clean only.
Clothing should be washed when it’s dirty or smells bad. Unnecessary cleaning is just bad for the environment and reduces the lifespan of your garment.
TL;DR: You’re not gross!
You smell lovely Robin!
I’m following your yesterday steps of warming up this Wednesday and am wearing Puredistance Sheiduna.
🙂
Good morning. I am wearing Quelques Fleurs today and drinking a cup of green tea.
This past weekend I went Christmas shopping for myself. I bought a bottle of Houbigant Quelques Fleurs and a bottle of Chanel Cristalle. I have tried Cristalle in the past and it has never really “clicked” with me. That changed over the weekend, and I love my new bottle of Cristalle.
I have been alternating these two fragrances over the past few days.
Yay for new bottles! Did you get the edt or edp of Cristalle?
EDT
Go team EdT!!
Which Cristalle did you buy Edt or edp
I bought the edt.
I must have tried the edp a few years ago and decided it wasn’t for me. It took me this long to try this fragrance again. The edt is very easy to love, and I can see me wearing it a lot in the future.
MDCI Chypre Palatin for Me on this Special DAY!!!
Thanks again Hajusuuri❣️The best money EVAH spent!??♀️☺️
What’s the special day?
its an early birthday celebration ?♀️?(ssshhhh)
Whispering happy early birthday!
thank you Lillyjo!?
I ordered Rouge by CdG for my bday gift, not here yet.
Happy early birthday!!
psst: thank you sistine!
???
Oh, you smell GOOD. One of my favorites!
It’s a gray drizzly day here and I’m in Bottega Veneta, which is one of my favorites.
One of my favorites too. You smell great!
That’s one of my favorites, and I also love it for rainy days.
Perfect choice for a grey day
Excellent perfume pick!
The furnace people came and of course the furnace was not making the noise that prompted me to call them. The repair lady seemed a little annoyed with me, and I felt she was being condescending. She replaced a small part, that doesn’t make noise. Idk.. I’m supposed to call if I hear it again.
I used my new soft soap Sweet Honeysuckle and Orange shower gel. I realized I need more flowery florals in my collection, lol. I’m wearing Carven L’eau de toilette because it’s flowery and happy smelling ?
Wishing safety to all my friends dealing with the snow storm!
oh I hear ya! What a pain! Mine was the blower motor,. keep an ear on it. They do burn out. ours is limping along.
I have just had car trouble and a busted washer… of course you must replace the SET. What an expensive Xmas…..
Just fixed my car too. Now you have me knocking on wood for the washer and dryer, lol.
spitting out my coffee. funny girl
Record it on your phone next time you hear it, it might help!
Definitely this! ^
If you felt she was being condescending, she probably was. That said, in the event you have a service contract and may get the same one next time, you will need to think of a good response to her next time, which I hope is a long ways away!
It was Natalie Merchant on the ipod this morning for the walk that I took before the rain starts again. The Ipod is old and the battery only lasts 3-4 hours and Apple wants $169 to fix it. I think that’s more than I paid for it way back when. It’s so tiny it fits in any pocket, or even my cleavage, and my phone is too big to lug around. Anyone here have suggestions for a replacement?
I’m wearing 2 small spritzes of Delina this morning, I have to go get my Prolia injection and don’t want to gas out the nurse.
Maybe this will help?
https://www.techhive.com/article/161205/smallest_mp3_players.html
Love Natalie merchant
No scent yet… once I get done with the dishes I’ll be opening up my new bottle of Chanel Gabrielle Essence, because PEACH. I think Ede gets the enabler pin for this one.
It’s holiday baking time! Yesterday I made shortbread for the first time ever and it came out wonderfully. The only downside was that the recipe is small so we are halfway thru the pan already…! Even the cat loves shortbread. It’s an adventure trying to eat some with the cat on my lap – he keeps trying to dive in between my hand and my mouth to steal a bite for himself.
We have a rainstorm coming tonight (yay), need to get out and go for a walk before the rain comes. Hoping all of you expecting snow stay safe and warm.
Oh and happy birthday Jane! I am currently reading the Pride and Prejudice and Zombies books. Ok, distinctly NOT Jane, but still entertaining enough.
I texted my husband a photo of a small bottle of Gabrielle Essence – Christmas present. So many enablers!
It’s nice that it comes in several sizes… I got the 35 ml.
And this is the cutest size!
My dog loves shortbread too. Because butter & sugar. 🙂
Glad your first shortbread try was successful! Kitties are very smart and know what they like!
I’ve learned to automatically double any shortbread recipe now. The problem is that my “test batch” is long gone. If I make another round it will have to be next week so that there is a chance of some being around for Christmas Day.
Yay for a successful shortbread batch!
Ok I am baking sourdough.
Yesterday I received a gift from Galion celebrating their 90 year Anniversary. Anyone else get a couple of 2 ml sprays along with a booklet dedicated to les fleurs du mâle? I haven’t opened them yet but will post Cypre Palatin.
The samples are in a lovely plastic box.
I received Chypre and Champs de Mai.
Yup I got those same samples.
Have you tried them yet?
No, they have to get in line behind the bazillion other samples I have…
http://themoderndiylife.blogspot.com/2012/12/diy-christmas-tree-stand.html
Happy birthday Jane Austen! Wouldn’t it be great to take her to a library or bookshop and show her all her books still on the shelves. I went to a Christmas party at my favourite library yesterday. It’s in the port, about half way up the harbour so it was a lovely drive around the bays, sparkling water etc. i wasn’t going to go but I could hear my mother telling me I should make the effort to be more social….and I met lots of nice people and we sat around drinking tea and eating cake, and then drove back home over the hills which are covered in clover and red poppies. I like the smell of the port, that mixture of sea and tar. Wearing Stash today.
The link is for the christmas tree in a bucket method. He has forgotten to add water, plus there is no need to buy rocks or wash them, but it gives the idea. You can use broken bricks, gravel, smashed concrete…whatever is handy.
Sigh, I would love to go to a library event… or really any event at this point. Thank you for sharing so I could enjoy it vicariously!
Have you ever watched this?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Pun3jaMVJk
I hadn’t seen it before so thank you. It’s very clever. And it was a good version from memory. Toni Collette as Harriet?
Hmmmm, Toni Collette was Harriet in the 1996 Emma version with Paltrow, while this speech is for the screenplay of Sense and Sensibility which came out, in 1995 I think.
Ok then, and that is a fair sized tree! I still say we would knock it over (our tree is in a corner in between 2 doors and thus in a foot path, so to speak) but I am still impressed.
My samples arrived today. I’m trying Mousse Chypre first. It’s definitely not a blind buy but it is really good. Pure forest smell with fennel and clary sage. And it’s still going 5 hours later. Lovely. Very original.
Yay for new samples!
Well, I can confirm that I have no FBs that came out in 2020. I have some 2020 samples, but I save those for home, where I can pay attention. The people I work with know I love perfume, but I don’t want them to think I’m completely crazy by sitting at my desk sniffing my wrist continuously 🙂
I saw mention of Le Galion above, so I’m inspired to wear La Rose.
I will manage Friday, but slim pickings here too.
Expecting the first snow storm of the season to arrive in a couple of hours. Snow flurries are already falling. Where is summer? ?
Smelling great in Amouage Lyric to stay cozy and happy.
Be well beautiful people! ?
I meant to wear that today but forgot! You smell wonderful.
Thank you! ?
I just keep repeating that winter snow kills summer pests!
So true! ?
Summer = 6 months away ?
????
I’m wearing a cozy bubble of Bois Farine for a trip to the DMV. It’s freezing rain here – yuck. I hope everyone in the path of this winter storm stays safe and warm.
Oh yum, you smell fantastic — and too good for the DMV!
I don’t thin I have a 2020 scent, so I wore Memoir Woman today. My receptionist liked it and I sprayed her wrists to try it.
Made a nice dinner from a new Nigel Slater recipe, lentil porridge with cauliflower. One of his Midweek dinners on the Observer. Very good!
Oh, that does sound delicious!
I reached into the sample stash and pulled out Parle Moi Chypre Mojo again today. It’s good, but I’m craving something a bit more warming on this snowy day.
Teaching from home with my four-year-old is stressful, but I am grateful to be doing that instead of frantically driving in a snowstorm after being sent home early. Virtual instruction keeps us safer in more ways than one!
Yes, better to be home safe and sound, both of you!
Happy Birthday Jane Austen! One of my favorite authors. She would have been 245 years old today, and not look a day over 230. I’ll betcha if this was a normal year, Chawton House would have been doing something really fun for her special day. Bummer.
No scent today, just preparing to be blissfully snowed in, possibly tomorrow too. Went for a brief walk, said hello to our friendly neighborhood resident red-tailed hawk, who was hanging out on some telephone wire, quite possibly looking for lunch, and then decided to come in when my chin started freezing. If anyone is driving in the storm today, please be safe!!
245 years. Wow, even though I’m very familiar with the era in which she was born is a bit shocking to see that number.
I plowed through every Jane Austen on my first contract in Singapore because I hadn’t realized how expensive books would be there (tiny island, imports cost a premium) and wound up finding a second-hand shop that mostly stocked university books. Loved everything but Persuasion.
In Dua Aoud Bleu Intense, inspired by the Fragrance du Bois of the nearly-identical name. It’s my go getter fragrance to counter the temperature still being -20 today but the sun having gone on strike!
Oh, I really love Persuasion! And there’s a very good movie version of it too, with Ciaran Hinds as Captain Wentworth. Mmmm. Beautiful scenes filmed on location at Bath, Lyme Regis, etc.
I’m a huge fan of Persuasion as well. But then I don’t love Emma, even though I do admire it, and Emma has many fans.
I love that film with Ciarán Hinds. He was an excellent Wentworth.
Too tired to post, but how could I be absent, considering my alias and the day?
SOTD is Tea for Two, and it is just hitting the spot.
I really need to get my act together about this CP, no idea what has come out this year.
Is there actually anywhere where I can look up 2020 releases?
Here you go: https://www.parfumo.net/Release_Year/2020
Ooh thanks a lot, Cazaubon!
I think I’m reading that site correctly: there are more than 3K entries for 2020! ?
I went halfway through the list last night and I did not even recognize half of the houses, let alone the fragrances. So far I’ve tried 3 new releases 🙂
Glad you summoned the strength to post for your namesake 🙂 You smell lovely.
You smell great!
I don’t think I have any CP-qualifying scents. All I did today was put on some rose oil with a spray or two of Stella on top. Was heading to a dental cleaning first thing in the morning. Brisk out there! Had to scurry home for a phone call…was providing a reference for a former co-worker. I hope I helped her cause…I think the position would be an excellent fit.
Not impressed by the snow so far.
Snow started off slow where I am at, too.
I’m wearing Zoologist Musk Deer which is a very soft beautiful musky scent. It’s kind of addictive with some unidentified element that keeps me trying to guess what it is. It’s midway between vanilla, metal, and fur. Softly beautiful.
That was one of the samples I requested (but didn’t receive) in my recent Luckyscent order. I need to sample this.
Too bad, yes, DO sample it. It’s an easy one, not weird like so many of theirs are.
Ditto. I emailed them yesterday to complain that I hadn’t gotten any of my choices in my last order, and I got a very nice reply — and a promise to send the samples I’d asked for in a week or so. Yay!
How is your hand
It’s gradually healing, but I do still have pain in it and am taking my pain medicine. If I forget and accidentally lift something too heavy or squeeze something too hard, then Wow!–I feel it! But I’m sure it’s going to be fine. Thanks for asking.
Spent the morning hiding in the TV room while the cleaning woman did her thing for 3 hours. Now heading out in the sun for a walk with the dog. Wearing a candidate for best 2020 release, Gallagher Behold Patchouli.
hope the walk with your sweet doggie was a good one!
I love the Gallagher perfume names. I’m waiting for the pineapple fiends to weigh in about Fineapple. 🙂
You smell great. The first time I wore it I over sprayed on a warm day and it was too much. But the 2nd time on a fall day w/ a more restrained trigger finger, 😉 it was wonderful.
I’ve been watching big, fat snowflakes fall for most of the afternoon today. A cup of hot cocoa with mini marshmallows was the perfect break earlier. The switch over to sleet and rain hasn’t happened yet, but is still expected to happen (yuck). Both cats have draped themselves over the heat vents right now.
SOTD = Mugler Les Exceptions Cuir Impertinent, from the sample stash and an NSTer of notable generosity. On me, it is mostly tobacco and leans masculine.
I think you smell great jalapeno!
Stay safe and warm!
Thanks lillyjo!
The weather changed over to sleet around 6pm for me. I am still hearing it hit the windows every so often. It’s horrible outside. Not gonna go anywhere!
Yes, we’ve been hearing the howling of the wind and the sound of sleet hitting the windows of the house. And I’m glad I don’t have to go anywhere tomorrow, either.
I think your cats have the right idea about it being the kind of weather that calls for lying on the heat vents. 🙂
Sleet is horrible! Rain I can handle, even cold rain, and snow is beautiful, but I can think of nothing good to say about sleet.
It’s ugly out ughhhh. You smell good!
Thank you!
Yeah, it’s heinous outside. Sometime in the past 30 minutes, the sleet changed over to rain. I had about 4 inches of snow before it changed over.
Hello! Quiet day for me. I was glad I didn’t have to go anywhere. I unwittingly joined Jalapeno earlier today in drinking hot chocolate with mini marshmallows. lol — great minds think alike?
Scent at bedtime last night and this morning: more of the lavender-scented oil for my skin. My hands are a little better, I think. Maybe I’ll do the lavender oil tonight and add a spray of Jicky.
Take care, folks, and stay warm, my fellow East Coast people!
LOL! Great minds, indeed! I’ve switched hot beverages, though. Now it’s back to hot tea.
I’m joining at least one or two others in Le Lion today. Undina sent me a sample when we swapped some weeks back, and I’m very glad to have it. I like it a lot, but I think it’s similar enough to other perfumes I have, so I doubt I’ll seek out a bottle, at least not right away. I don’t think I tried enough new perfumes to have a true favorite, but I am using this week to wear 2020 perfumes. So far I’ve worn Smell Bent A Scent Called Home and Chris Rusak Dub. Enjoyed them both very much.
In L’Eau Trois by Diptyque. Seems like a perfect fragrance for a grey and rainy day. It always reminds me of cathedrals and wine caves in France.
I have this one, too!
Fits this season so well!
I’m in Santal Kardamon, a swap from eschmeling. I’m very happy to give it a loving home. ?
Hi! Good to see you!?
Wearing Angel Innocent, I was afraid it would be discontinued but it still seems to be available. It is much easier to wear than the original Angel.
I usually see that one at the online discounters.
Yes, me too, so I think it’s safe to say it is still around, I got a BUB but probably didn’t need it.
I think Mugler under L’oreal is going to discontinue quite a few. Mugler USA has been having sales like crazy since summer. Often buy one get one free.
Good to know this!
That’s a good deal, I think I have enough Angel flankers, liqueur (I know you don’t care for that one), cuir and Innocent which Ireally love,. Can’t fall asleep tonight so I can answer you on the same day?
I think even the Les Exceptions are on sale (haven’t looked, someone else mentioned).
Veddy veddy late to the party!
Sticking snow and wind outside…very cold. I hope I don’t lose power. Worst day to be expecting a package, which finally came, of course, to be opened tomorrow because mail quarantine.

More tomorrow!
Color me impressed that your package made it to you today, despite the weather!
Me too! It was a last minute order and on the brand’s own website – 30% off which NEVER EVER happens on LuckyScent!
