Monday, so soon. Also, Willa Cather's birthday. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm waking up slowly in Hermès Myrrhe Églantine.
Reminder: on 12/11, wear a perfume with violet, if you have one.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2020, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the In-The-Loop To Go Bag ("Epsom calfskin with wrist strap, 1 slot for multiple cards, contrasting stitching, stainless steel pull-tab and zipped closure") is $2425 at Hermès.
Up early to take Otto Mi Gato to the vet for dental surgery. He absolutely hates the vet, and does a full on freak-out whenever he has to go. I’m not looking forward to it, but the vet thinks that his dental issues are contributing to his loss of weight. He also has hyperthyroidism, and kidney problems. I want to wave a magic wand and make it all go away. The thought of him in silent pain makes me feel awful.
Wish us luck!
Best wishes for your little furry one. I remember when my kitty started going through her health issues, I felt so bad for her.
Good luck!
Best of luck. I hope your furry friend’s problems can be resolved. It’s so hard to see them not feeling well. Hugs!
Poor kitty. Best wishes!
Ohhh, LisaD – best wishes to you and Gato – SmokeyToes feels the same, hates the vet. It’s so traumatic for him. Keeping fingers crossed that all goes well!
=^.^=
Otto does this thing where he starts ejecting his fur when he’s scared (I think he has some porcupine genes). This usually results in both of us sitting in the exam room, clutching at each other, him mewling and me cooing at him, surrounded by a full cloud of cat hair. Because of the pandemic, our vet clinic does curbside drop-off, so no exam room. I appreciate this and know that it’s sensible, but I don’t like to just hand him over to strange people. Yep, fingers and toes are crossed.
Hope it all goes well or went well! I have a much less traumatic vet appointment today for our dog, but he also lives in fear of the vet. We do curbside too, but our dog will not walk away from me with a stranger, so I am allowed to walk him in.
He’s a smart dog, he is.
My sweet collie girl used to do the same thing (she’s crossed the rainbow bridge now). She’d eject her downy undercoat when she was scared that would just float all around us….
I hope Otto’s appointment went well.
Hope all goes well for your fur baby!
Good luck! Catching and crating kitties is never fun. 🙁 I hope everything gets taken care of!
Sending good vibes to you and your fur baby!
Best of luck at the vet. You are looking after Otto very well, it seems to me.
Hope it goes well
I hope it went well. As a kitty mom, you have my full sympathy.
Awwwww, poor Otto. I hope that the vet appointment and procedure went well. Hugs!
Luck!!! One of my kitties had to get two teeth pulled this summer and made a splendid recovery and immediately put back on a bit of weight once it wasn’t hurting her to eat. Wishing the same for Otto!
Good luck…taking cats to the vet is tough work.
I hope it went well!
Reeeeaaaly early to comment, for a change. The soup of the day, today, when I finally get going, will be Private Collection Tuberose Gardenia. I have been hanging on to that sample for a long time, so today, I’m going for broke. Looking forward to the flowery goodness.
I have not worn that in ages…I should find my bottle.
This is the only Gardenia perfume I can wear…the only one lol.
It is very lovely, I put some on last night and was surprised by how much I liked it. Not a great gardenia fan as a rule.
Eating dal and rice for breakfast (taking a break from toast). I know its an odd breakfast choice but I think somewhere in the world this is a staple for starting the day..maybe India or I think I read Egyptians eat mushed fava beans with tahini..
Harney and Sons English Breakfast tea with half and half (we are out of my usual silk soy creamer) and lots of honey
SOTD is Gabrielle essence. Trying to finish this sample.
Full face Chanel makeup for parent teacher zoom conferences.
I adore dal and rice! What a wonderful breakfast!
Love the day of Chanel and hope all goes well with the Zoom conferences!
Don’t judge me but I am making toast on top of this. I am still hungry. Not sure why..
I made a simple coconut dal curry last night. Lots of turmeric and spices, ginger and garlic
This is a favorite dish that tastes wonderful the next day.
Judge-free zone here, my food choices are all over the map (my poor digestive system is a testament to that). 🙂

oo!
This looks really yum!
Love kimchi, love crispy rice, love cheese. This is definitely going on my “to try” list. SmokeyToes, you might like this Korean dish (dolsot bibimbap) which can also be made with whatever leftover rice, veg and protein is available:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6QQ67F8y2b8&vl=en
I’m also in love with Maangchi, who has an attitude of cheerfulness and an enjoyment of food that I sincerely appreciate.
I definitely just bookmarked that and am trying it.
Some mornings just need toast.
agreed~
I hope your conferences go smoothly and that families are helpful and supportive!
Its an odd year for parents, I am sure teachers feel the same way..
We shall see what they say about my youngest.
Ooh, sorry I misunderstood. Yes, indeed, a challenge for all of us! I hope you find the teacher helpful and supportive as well! 🙂
Yes fava beans are favorite Egyptian breakfast food! Also fried eggplant sandwiches
Put me on a flight to Egypt pronto..
? take me with you please
Fried eggplant sandwiches sound yummy!
That does sound good.
Yum! I could happily eat lentils and beans at every meal. I do eat some meat but I could go vegetarian if I had to…not vegan though…I love cheese too much.
After spending most of last week at home nursing a fever, I needed something different than the cool weather scents that I’ve been wearing. So, today I’m in an old standby, Niki de Saint Phalle. I really needed the aromatic green of this scent to get me through my first day back at work.
I hope you are better!
Glad you are on the mend!
Fevers these days are no joke
I am glad you are feeling better, and Niki de St Phallel is gorgeous.
Glad you are feeling better. I have wanted a bottle of this forever! Need to find one.
I noticed in the past month or so that Niki de Saint Phalle was getting scarce, so this might be the time to grab it.
Niki is energizing for sure. You smell lovely
I’m glad you’re feeling better!
House twins, Robin. I am in Hermes Cuir d’Ange for the CP. I love this “violets in December” theme!
I like violets in December theme too. I think Misia has violets. Trying to research what I can do for Friday or if I have anything during the week
It does! Join me!
It certainly does.
I checked my wardrobe and came up with the following list:
Guerlain Insolence
Guerlain AA Rosa Pop
L’Artisan Verte Violette
Chanel Misia
FM Lipstick Rose
YSL Paris
Balenciaga Paris
Hermes Cuir d’Ange
MCG Exultat
Pierre Balmain Jolie Madame (violet leaf, but why not?)
AdV Grenadille d’Afrique
Forgot to add JHAG Moon Dance. I have not tried it yet, but violet is listed.
great list!
That Aedes is lovely although hardly gets mentioned
I agree. Some people call it boring, but I think it is understated.
I thought I had nothing for the CP and then I actually looked up perfumes with violet notes. Yep, I’m covered and will be smelling fantastic in whatever I choose!
Ooohh, jealous of your Verte Violette. I haven’t smelled it in so long, so I’m not willing to buy one of the bottles I see on eBay priced between $250-$400. But it is one of those that I wonder about from time to time.
And I almost wore Cuir d’Ange…maybe tomorrow if I don’t get started on violet.
But Cuir d’Ange has violet.
Well, I suppose that is true but I don’t notice violet and I don’t think of it as a violet perfume.
p.s. not meaning to discourage anybody else from taking points where they like 😉
Not a lot of violet for sure, but I get a bit in the opening.
Thanks for posting that list of violet perfumes, Glannys!
Hello all, my SOTD is vintage Dune, a gift from a lovely perfumista.
Nursing a cup of tea and starting to read through work emails. A last minute work project has me up and ready to go early.
I’ll walk later this afternoon, I did plenty this weekend, my tootsies are super sore! I may need new walking shoes.
I finished reading The Lions of Fifth Avenue, a very enjoyable and light read. 🙂
Just read the plot of that book! Very very very cool
Does it have a strong sense of place (meaning that author makes you feel like you are in NYC)? I love books that are based in the city (since I live here)
Morning L2SG – Unfortunately, not as much as I’d like. I enjoy that ‘sense of place’ in a novel also. In the beginning, more details of NYC and the history of the NYPL site are provided, but it left me wanting a bit more. It’s not overly sparse, but I love a richly detailed back story, and as we know, NYC has a personality of it’s own. I think the author missed a golden opportunity in not providing that detail.
Ooh, any idea of the age of your Dune decant? Any chance you’ve been able to compare it to a more recent formulation?
I have the recent version also, I’ll spritz some of each on my wrists and keep you posted. 🙂
Yay! Thank you!
Marjorie Rose – a couple of hours in, the newer version (my bottle is approx. 10 years old) is definitely not my preferred vintage (surprise!). It has the Dune DNA, and smells recognizable as Dune, but the vintage has a warmer, amber/spicy vibe to it that is gorgeous, richer and has more pop to it.
Sigh. Not surprised to hear this, but now it makes me want to find an older bottle. I like the one I have, but my guess is it’s “newer.” Thank you so much for doing the side-by-side!
You smell great!
Put a pot of Cincinnatti chili on the stove – our cold apartment will warm up very soon!
Yum! I had a housemate in college who was from Cincinnati, and he made this – I’ve been a fan ever since.
It’s my first time making it, it’s delicious! It’s been simmering on the stove for four hours – I’ve snuck a few spoons, I think this is my favorite version of chili that I’ve ever tried.
Cincy-style chili is delicious! And fairly easy to whip up.
Yum.
Spent my pre shower time in Epic. Now that I have showered, I will be wearing Kyoto. Tonight I will start a candle, just haven’t felt like burning one in the past few days for some reason and I got all excited about Candle Day, then disappointed with it.
Sorry Dawn! Do burn a candle anyway.
No points here—I’m in an old friend: Byredo Gypsy Water. Another that reminds me of cool weather and holidays, though I am not sure why I have that association.
I made English muffins last night from the NYT recipe. I forgot about the rising dough, so they were over-proved (as Paul Hollywood likes to say and then didn’t puff up as they should have in the oven. I will eat them anyway and try again!
Eternally late adopters to tv shows, we are now on season 4 of winter binge-watching of British Bake-off. It’s been fun peppering our conversations with baking innuendo, from soggy bottoms to laminating dough! However, my husband (Scottish born and raised) keeps correcting my pronunciation of plaiting—which as an American I pronounce like “plating”. He says, do you “plate” hair? And I say, YES! British. Just because they have been speaking the language longer. . .
I thoroughly enjoy the British Bake-off – it’s certainly the best of reality shows for what my preferences (and since I like to bake, although not quite that elaborately, it’s perfect).
Lol – having read lots of books written by British authors or set in Britain, I’m often explaining the British words/sayings to my husband from the midwest who just looks puzzled. One of our favorites: “I’m bricking it…” when they’re nervous.
One of my favorite Britishisms is chuffed
Yes, that one’s great!
Oh, what fun. I might watch them all over again one of these days.
You smell great!
Sampling DSH Quinacridone Violet which is supposed to be a fruity floral but my skin is ridiculously amping the cedar note so it’s a no
money saved!
That happened to me, too with that one.
I have kept my empty decant of that one for years, sniffing it every once in while. I really like it, but I think more for sniffing the bottle than for actually ever wearing.
As much as I love the violets in my yard come spring, violet in perfume is a deal breaker for me. Leaning into ennui today with Gris Clair.
I also never found a violet I liked, so no CP for me
$2425 for a wrist wallet…..I can’t imagine! I’m happy to find a $20 bargain and I use it for a decade or two…. 🙂
Anyhoo, got to work and immediately starting smelling urine? Started looking around the pharmacy and finally realized it was my Estee Lauder Knowing, going thru it’s civet stage….LOL It’s softened up now but it was a little stanky for a few minutes. 🙂 One spray too many, but now it’s glorious….
I get that throughout Amouage Gold woman with the urine/pooly
Lol!
I love Knowing, but my husband often comments about the scent of cleaning fluid and where is it coming from! (Although, once it calms down he doesn’t seem to mind it.)
I would get that smell from Ysatis and Carolina Herrera too, it’s worth it though, they are all glorious!
up crazy early for Hong Kong call. Dark chilly and generally depressing looking outside.
SOTD is the beautiful Bois D’ Armanie.
Blech — hope you got some rest later in the day apsara!
I decided to try Beloved today. I don’t usually do violets in the colder months, but I thought this one might be meaty enough. Honestly, it’s a lovely scent, but it feels weird to wear in the cold. Too airy and optimistic for me right now!
maybe switch to something to fit your mood and the weather later?
Yeah, may have to be something that will layer over it ok. Beloved lasts and lasts for me!
Not a big violet fan here and feel it’s more of a spring note, but: Misia is lovely, and the decant I have seems to be evaporating, so I’m grateful for the CP making me dig this out! 🙂
I’m thinking of getting a Lush body spray for my daughter. She loves sleepy/twilight. Anyone have recs for another standout in the body spray range? Rose Jam was a big no for everyone – just too much rose & jam. Sakura? Avo co-wash? Or forget about it?
Gifting scent is always a risk and I think Lush scents might be even more of a risk! Though I like lavender and tonka I don’t like Twilight… I love Snow Fairy but it’s very polarizing. For me its very sweet but somehow also fresh. YMMV.
Avocado co-wash is great – it’s somehow deep and effervescent at the same time. Some people say it smells a bit like cheesecake – as in tart, sweet and somewhat creamy but I don’t get too much creaminess – I find it more like a hard orange/lemon candy from childhood. I think it might be better for winter than Calacas which Iv been lusting after a little. Calacas is ALSO like candy but it’s more the gummy kind! It’s like those gelatinous wiggly worms in bright lime. Avocado Co-wash is stronger, has more depth and is longer lasting than Calacas but Calacas may be more refreshing.
Unfortunately I haven’t given Sakura a good test…
Thanks for all the input! If we weren’t under hard lockdown I might have simply tried to drive out to the nearest lush store next week for some in store testing (not sure that’s actually possible, though). Lush is very hit or miss – and sometimes maybe a soap scent doesn’t translate well into a body spray. For example, they have some excellent citrus soaps (happy hippy or the satsuma one), and I also like Honey I washed the kids, but as body sprays – maybe not.
During lockdown here stores did have testers but you had to ask and SA would spray it on you.
With Bodyshop’s Satsuma i definitely prefer the soap and gel to the edt they once had! The format affects the scent – absolutely.
HIWTK is very popular in body wash and scrubee but the spray gets mediocre reviews…
I will send you samples of the 4 I have: Twilight, Yog Nog, Turmeric Latte and Avocado Co-Wash.
Hajusuuri, that is very kind, thank you!
Turmeric Latte is one that gets a lot of love. But Personally I find it a bit meh and have gone over to using it in the dryer to scent sheets etc.
I actually had to google the name of what I am wearing because my memory has just gone for a loop lately. So ‘hermes blue bottle’ turned out to be Eau de Narcisse. Later on I went past a department store and got a spritz of Pure XS which is like the opposite side of the continuum 😀 The one is restrained and cooling and the other a somersault (marketing copy talks of an orgasm – seriously!).
Or Hiris, of course, but I assume you would have known which one you were wearing!
Yes, I discovered a few in blue bottles but E de N was the one. Hiris does have the deepest blue!
You smell great Robin! A favorite Hermessence
In Iris Poudre, so far the only iris I really like.
I may or may have not been bad and bought myself a travel spray of Eau de Magnolia and a Dyptique body balm on evil bay. It’s my last day of the term and I felt I deserve it
Not bad. Resourceful!
Resourceful is my middle name 😉
I like Iris Poudre a lot, but I wish it lasted longer on me. You smell great!
It lasts a long time on me
It lasts a long time on me too and this was before my 8 spray minimum. The drydown is fabulous!
Yay for the last day of the term! ???
Yes and not a minute too soon. It’s been such an exhausting term.
You totally deserve it! Enjoy! How long is your break?
Thank you! We are back teaching in January. Unfortunately I do have to work during the “break” but at least the work won’t involve Zooming.
Testing Gris Charnel, which has such an off-putting name in English— charnel is probably carnal in French, I know. But a grey charnel is how it reads to me. Anyway! The perfume is beautiful. Similar to TF’s Champaca Absolute.
We were supposed to spend this past weekend in Pebble Beach in a little rental cottage, just me and my husband—so I cleared getting today off work. No trip to Pebble Beach of course, but I decided to take the day off anyway. So I am still in bed, drinking coffee and getting caught up on the news and NST ??????☀️?!
Was the trip canceled cuz of Covid? Sorry that you couldn’t go but glad you are still doing a staycation
Yeah. Seemed insane to do a road trip when hospitals are filling fast and so many folks are balancing livelihoods with living.
It’s so hard. I hope you can go next year.
So sorry you missed your Pebble Beach time! Next year.
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/12/02/travel/travel-grief.html
It sounds terrible but I don’t relate to the ones in this story. That said though, when you’re looking for some alone with the hubby time and miss out on it for reasons beyond your control, that’s something else. I had previously scheduled to be off on Dec. 2nd thinking that’s the date I will get my car inspected, but I did that the previous Wednesday. I took the day off anyway, although I had to do some work work.
Defaulted to Chanel No 19 edp, which is feeling as chilly as Boston weather, but in an elegant way. I may be stumped for the CP, but enjoying everyone’s chit chat. Contemplating buying myself a Chanel Exclusif – Rue Cambon or Coromandel – but hate to buy unsniffed and really not up for a trip to the Newbury Street boutique. What to do?
Is there one you have sniffed that you want to buy?
I didn’t care for Misia, Sycomore or Beige. Someone here mentioned another that sounded interesting but of course I didn’t write it down!
Buy a small sample of each on ebay?
Such a good idea, Yasmina. I will do that.
Report back which you like better
I’ve smelled both 31RC and Coromandel in EdT form, and preferred Coromandel. I have no idea what the current EdP versions are like.
SOTD is Nuit de Nöel for doing the Christmas decorating (and a pilates zoom session later on). ? ? ☃️
Yay for getting it all done SheriG! (I did a little more decorating today but sadly no pilates)
Monday!
1) A clear and sunny day- but very chilly.
2) Rediscovered Hall & Oates this weekend while cleaning and decorating. Perfect, perfect rock/r&b pop music.
3) Am in Laura Mercier Creme Brulee EDT. Found it at TJ Maxx for $17n (1.7oz/50 mL). It’s new to me- I only know the bath products and the Caviar eyeshadows. Very light but persistent skin scent- not super sugar sweet, but has a slight edge of warmth and amber depth to it.
#3 sounds great. I have the pistachio!
Lucky!
Guess I will wear Le Labo Ambrette from a sample..light and lovely. I didn’t know they blended perfumes right there in the boutique lol..hence the name, Le Labo lol.
Yup- and they will even personalize the bottle for you! I have found that you should actually let the scent settle for about a week or so.
I just spent two hours watching the original Walking Tall movie, and didn’t realize until the end that the whole time, I thought I was watching Billy Jack! I laughed so hard at myself, I cried ?
Anyway, heading to work wearing Shalimar Souffle Intense. I saw one review saying it smells like Dior Addict.. it does not. Two totally different perfumes, I can’t even find a similarity.
Do you like the Shalimar Souffle Intense?
I do. I like the regular one too, it’s lighter, so I wear it more in warmer weather.
They are totally different but you smell mighty fine!
Thank you! I guess they have the same perfumer? Wasser? But yeah, totally different.
On target with the theme, even though I hadn’t checked what it was. I’d already planned to wear Balmain’s Jolie Madame to go with my dress. The perfume came out in 1953 and my dress is a republished pattern from 1946.
Bet that is a fun dress!
Good choice. I will be wearing that some time this week, too!
Plenty of immortelle and no violets in sight with Sables.
Points for a classic, though.
Ajmal Evoke, reminds me a bit of Bottega Veneta with more ISO E super. Nice, but not too special.
Got another blind buy of 4160Tuesdays in the mail. I think I was luckier this time. I got Doe in the snow and Meet me on the corner, and the first sprays are promising.
I feel less guilty when I read about other peoples blind buys ? I have been more guilty of blind buys than usual since covid. 4160 Tuesdays is a very good Brand Choice, as brexit is coming and we unfortunately still don’t know that that’s going to mean for perfume purchases from lovely uk niche brands! ? (i know, not the world’s biggest problem)
I’ve also made some expensive blind buys recently (still in the mail, so success still TBD) and found solace in tales of other people’s leaps of faith. I’m not alone. ?
Back to work today in VC&A Bois d’Iris.
Brought some St. Nick’s sweets to share with lab colleagues 🙂
I love that one and haven’t worn it in awhile. Thanks for the reminder. You smell great!
Coworkers who bring in goodies are the best kind.
Having quite a Monday. I woke up sniffly and with a sore throat, so I’m teaching from home and getting a Covid test later. I know I’m doing the right thing, but I still find it stressful.
I do smell great, though, in MFK Aqua Universalis Forte.
Oh no, good luck!
Sending you luck! Ridiculous to wish someone the luck of having the common cold or flu, but there you go!
Fingers crossed!
Sending you a big hug and good luck too.
Fingers crossed irisjasmine!
Understandably stressful. Take care off yourself! Crossing fingers your just have a cold.
Very far away from this week’s CP in Tihota. I probably should have done this for Friday. I am thinking of either baking some sugar cookies or going to Trader Joe’s to stock up on their seasonal butter puff pastry. I have enough time to do both but I am lazy.
Well I am lazier — I am doing neither, and am jealous of whatever wonderful things you end up making!
In vintage Calèche edt, the first wear of it this fall and enjoying its sandalwood so much, I also have the extrait which is even woodier.
Oh, I should pull out my bottle! You smell great.
Well, I started off violet week with a bang by basically dumping half a SSS Voile de Violette sample vial on me. It is STRONG stuff. And I’m not sure it’s what I was in the mood for, but it’s what I’m working with today. I am saving my colder weather violet perfumes for Wed-Fri since our temps will get below 50.
Ah, forgot that one! Hope your mood adjusted to your perfume today.
Went all Lush today. I washed my hair with Daddy-o shampoo for violet goodness. Wearing Tuca Tuca on one wrist (it’s smoky and sweet at the same time); and Kerbside Violet on the other wrist (to my nose – a dry, concrete violet).
Happy Monday everyone!
I will definitely be in Kerbside this week, maybe even on Friday.
Waiting at my doctor’s to get my hand seen to for a really bad cat bite. It’s numb. I put on two little sprays of SL Rousse. I’m revisiting some of his more gourmand scents.
Oh no!! Please report back Calypso, take care.
Oh I am so sorry, Calypso: one of our kitties is a biter, and DH had to get treated from one of her tirades. She has really big teeth and claws; and while devoted to us, she is just that shade closer to a wild animal than some kitties are….we’ve had her for 16 years BTW!
Uh oh! Please let us know how you are doing!
Oh nooooo, sorry to hear that!
Oh dear – was it your cat? I hope it heals quickly
Ouch, do let us know how you did!
Oh no! So glad you went to the doctor.
Oh, cat bites can be ugly, I think you will need antibiotics
Santa Maria Novella Fresia
How is that one?
In my 2012 bottle of Eau Premiere… and feeling sad because there’s not much left in it! I smelled it in the shop this year and it did not feel quite the same. Maybe it’s my imagination though.
You smell great! Check evil bay, that’s where I got my bottle of the original formula.
Spent the day in Coco and enjoyed it a lot – as usual ? Going to have to select carefully for CPs. I think I only have a sample of Vivacious and some Cuir d‘Ange for violets…
You smelled really nice, I love Coco! Maybe it will be my scent tomorrow, I’m
craving Chanels this week.
For violets I think I would go for guerlains I have and not worn in a while (lheure bleue or apres l ondee). Vivacious is great and smelled quite guerlainesque to me at times. But maybe it’s because guerlain is my main reference for a violet perfume!
L‘Heure bleu! Of course, how could I forget? May go for that one today.
You smelled great in Coco.
Thank you 🙂
Coco is an excellent pick for late autumn weather.
I love it in autumn and winter too. (but I lovebirds also in spring and summer – haha)
Today is also Pearl Harbor Day. It’s even more melancholy than usual this year for me. I had a couple of uncles who served during World War II. They enlisted after December 7, 1941. Both of them came home after the war, got jobs, and had families.
More melancholy. I watched the Dolly Parton Christmas special last night. While I think Ms. Parton is amazing, I could barely tolerate hearing the 2 cheerful secular Christmas carols that were part of the program. It isn’t that kind of a Christmas this year.
SOTD = AdV Palisander d’Or, from the sample stash. Trying some new-ish samples this week, just for grins.
I’m totally feeling you on the melancholy jalapeño. I watched ABBA last night and was instantly transported back to 1979. Sigh.
And yeah, it isn’t that kind of Christmas. I have absolutely no decorations up yet and have all my shopping left to do.?
No decorations for me either. Elvis’ version of “Blue Christmas” is more my speed right now.
Some of those ABBA songs still sound fresh and new to my ears.
Thank you to your Uncles and all who served.
Thanks lillyjo. My uncles were rather modest about it, saying that it was something that had to be done. There’s a reason they were called part of the Greatest Generation.
A day of remembrance for sure. Last weekend, I switched out my red white and blue star for my Owly Christmas iron wreath.
Bottega Veneta today. Exactly what a day of the dreaded “wintry mix” needed.
Stay safe and fragrant!
Yuck, wintery mix is the worst. I’d rather have snow.
Thumbs down for the wintry mix! It’s heinous.
Chanel Venise. I’m close to thunking my sample.
I got so much done around the house yesterday! Laundry, cleaned the kitchen, made banana bread (with chocolate chips of course) and Mississippi pot roast.
Finished watching the ABBA special on PBS last night and now that’s all I want to listen to, lol. Unfortunately my commute is two miles which leaves enough time for one, maybe two songs.
What’s the difference between Mississippi pot roast and regular ol’ pot roast?
https://www.thecountrycook.net/crock-pot-mississippi-pot-roast/
This is one of many versions you can find when you google. I only use half a stick of butter. My mom gave me the recipe a few years ago and it is seriously the most delicious pot roast I have ever had. It’s the only way I make it now.
Thank you!
Slow down instead of speeding up for yellow lights. You can sneak in a 3rd song ??
??I will remember that!
Looking forward to violet Friday! And, that Hermes purse just does not say, IMHO, “Hermes purse, $2,425.” It’s just, “$300 Coach purse” cute. SotD LPRN BP edt Florale. I’m really liking this one. And as others have noted, they are giving it away at the discounters.
More like $300 Coach purse at 90% off on clearance where the friends and family discount applies.
Wow, it does not say as much as that to me! In fact it said nothing other than “how cute”. But I am very cheap about purses.
SOTD was Memo Tiger’s Nest from a sample vial that had been sitting neglected for perhaps a year. I don’t know if it had changed somehow (maybe part of it evaporated?), but all I get from it is a sort of incense amber. Nice, but nothing special enough to make me need a bottle.
100% agree, given the price point.
Late to the party again! But I’m here!
SOTD = St. Clair Scents Seeking Balance
No violets listed in the notes but there are plenty of days left for the CP.

In other news, I just got off a frustrating call where someone mentioned “Mike” (not his real name) just called to say everything is fine. Me – who is Mike, where’s he from and what’s his last name? Answer – I don’t know his last name but he has a good relationship with x and just told her everything is fine. What the -? Finally, the person said I have his last name – woohoo – but neither me nor the other person could find the guy in our phone directory. Oy vey!
Argh! on the phone call!
Seriously!
That sounded like a (headdesk) moment!
Late, late, for my NST date! Started out the day in the adorable and affordable Victorinox Snowflower.
Then I put on a spritz from a sample of Tom Ford Vert de Fleur after finishing my workout in the afternoon, thinking I needed something peppy to keep me going.
Looooorrrr after half an hour I was OVER it. Something in here is exactly what bothered me in my mom’s old standby Jessica McClintock… Could it be the basil? I love it in food but whatever it’s doing perfume wise is 100% not my jam.
Time to scrub!
It’s been ages since I’ve smelled the Jessica McClintock perfume.
Posting something that Kanuka might find interesting:

I had a busy and rather blech day…never got around to spraying perfume on even.
But, as the saying goes, it is never too late to be what you might have been…just doused myself in some Pacifica Island Vanilla! Take that, blechiness! ??
Vanilla perfumes are your superpower. ?
Eau the blue. Smells like violet to me. Watched the movie with Daniel DiTomasso last night. It’s on lifetime, called Christmas ever After. It was good. Had a swamp walk and got a lot of bird poop on my shirt.
