Aftelier Violet Ambrosia ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 18 November 2020 16 Comments

Indie natural line Aftelier has launched Violet Ambrosia, a new soliflore fragrance.

The pairing of violet and broom flowers creates the perfume of fresh honeyed violets. Broom (GenĂȘt), a small very fragrant flower smells divinely of honey -- like inhaling the open air in a field of wildflowers. My broom absolute, rare and expensive, has aged for over twenty years, resulting in a sui generis deepening of the honey notes. The soft violet is backed by the creamy smooth sweetness of vanilla and sandalwood, greenness from the leaves of the violet, a hint of fresh berries, and accentuated by crisp bergamot. The mimosa and ylang flowers offer a dusty warmth to the violet flowers. Light and fresh, sweet and transparent, this honeyed floral perfume captures the experience of burying your nose in a bunch of freshly picked violets.

Aftelier Violet Ambrosia is available in 30 ml Eau de Parfum ($195), or in 2 ($50) or 8 ($195) ml Parfum. Samples are also sold.

Violet is having its day in the sun, or would be if weren’t shyly hiding in the leafiness. What are people’s favourite violet scents? I did like DC’s I Miss Violet…

I really used to like Borsari’s soliflore, but no idea what it’s like these days.

I just realized we’ve never done a violet community project, so will have to remedy that!

Balenciaga Paris! A fragrance that doesn’t match the designer’s clothes at all!

AnnieA, I love Duchafour’s I miss Violet so very much, too. I have a BUB in addition to my working bottle & am thinking about getting another BUB, because I never want to be without that gorgeous violet/apricot/suede experience.

I love violet fragrances, and violet leaf as well. Currently in love with my new bottle of TDC’s I miss Violet, but this one is worth a sample, and probably the Olfactive Studio violet as well. Never enough violet!

I’m a violet freak, but tend to seek out the flower more than the leaf. Though I don’t dislike violet leaf, some frags will advertise violet flower but actually use the leaf essence. I got Molinard’s Violette, which has a nice violet flower topnote payoff. Then there’s TDC’s I miss Violet, as mentioned above. I got Gucci’s Generous Violet several months ago and it disappointed. In fact, it smells exactly like that 70’s perfume “Babe” (Don’t ask how I know that, lmao…😁)
