I am very late, but happy Almost-Friday! It's also World Pneumonia Day, and we have a few birthdays: Grace Kelly, Booker T Jones, Neil Young. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Dawn Spencer Hurwitz Bakul Medjool, because nozknoz mentioned it yesterday.
Reminder: 11/13 will be Chanel No. 5 Friday! Wear Chanel No. 5, or a No. 5 flanker, or a fragrance that is related to No. 5 in some way — it does not have to be by Chanel!
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2020, where I'll try (but frequently fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

In Chanel No.5 Eau Premiere.
Happy Thursday! ?
You smell wonderful!
Thank you! ?
We are TWINS! How’s the longevity on you? Mine is now a skin scent after 5 hours.
Hi twin! The longevity is very poor on me also. It became a skin scent after 4 hours and gone after 5. I am on the EdT now which performs better, but I still prefer the Premiere.
My favourite Chanel!
It is the most wearable from all the No. 5 versións. Unfortunately it it doesn’t last on skin for too long.
Chanel No. 5 Parfum.
very nice!
Thanks!
This was me yesterday 🙂
And johanob on Tuesday!
Good morning all! 😀
Today’s SOTD is Chance Eau de Parfum by Chanel, wafting powdery patchouli and iris.
Speaking World Pneumonia day, I received my pneumonia shot (Pneumovax23, it covers more strains) and although my arm is more than a bit tender, I’m glad to get it done. I think more protection is better – flu and pneumonia done and off my plate.
Espresso consumed – shoes on and I’m out the door! Will check in later with everyone!
Hi almost twin!
When I had my flu shot this year I had to take Advil, my arm was so sore and swollen. Usually nothing happens.
Hi almost-scent twin! *waves*
I know, the same goes for me! This was one of the few years my arm was tender. I’m glad I reminded them to give the shot in my non-dominant hand. 🙂
Well done. I had my first flu shot after 6 years, glady this one was much better than the kast
Congrats on getting all your shots.
My mom will receive her first pneumonia shot tomorrow. I hope it goes well.
Lovely image, Robin. SOTD = La Liturgie des Heures, a wonderful churchy incense in the western tradition of incense. A nice warming scent for this chilly day.
STaying warm having a nice organic Ethiopian coffee, augmented with some Mexican hot chocolate, to make a sort of international mocha!
You smell so good.
I really enjoyed La Liturgie des Heures! I need to dig out my sample, its perfect for colder temps.
I have been using her images for the last 10 days or so…she is really good.
They are really beautiful!
I have a sample of this on the way. After reading your post, glad I picked it!
It’s one of my favorites. I wear it in regular rotation, alternating with Tiger’s Nest, an incense in the Eastern tradition.
Jubilation 25 (woman) by Amouage
I gifted myself a bottle (50 ml) as a post-election present ?/ coronastress-relief gift / a feeling-sad-for-myself-for-all-the-tiresome-video-meetings-donation….
I found a good deal and could not forget about it the whole week.
Oh and I also ordered the Orange Verte shower gel. ?
About jubilation 25…
when I tested it 2 years ago i was surprised the official notes did not mention oakmoss.
Now I am not THAT gifted when it comes to picking out notes, but this time I was so sure about the oakmoss. It’s kinda prominent…i would say.
Well….this FB came with an ingredients sticker and yessss….it lists oakmoss. So there you have it, I was not mistaken ???
I love Jubilation 25–you smell fantastic.
Thank you! ?
Congrats!
I can’t think of a better corona stress relief present. You smell wonderful.
You smell fabulous! Great present to yourself.
Never smelled it, must give it a try. Love oakmoss
Well-deserved, congratulations!
Yay and lol I have yet to buy me a scented post election gift to myself haha. Ubar has been on my wishlist for a while and forget it’s on there lol…so that is four or six perfumes on the wishlist…santa? Megabucks? Super Lotto? And where is my stimulus check IRS? Lol.
Jub 25 is such a great dirty scent. I don’t know if you own the Guide but Turin’s review is spot on.
SOTD is Guerlain Vega (the 2005 reissue). I vacillated between this and Van Cleef and Arpels First, but decided on the less symphonic scent.
I was feeling a little jittery this morning after my coffee so I am drinking some green rooibos.
I also felt jittery this morning after my morning caffeine intake. Not a fancy tea by any means but I am drinking Bengal Spice by celestial teas, its good and cheap to boot..
I love Bengal Spice! It’s also good iced in the summer.
For days like today it hits the spot. I am brewing two bags in one cup! I like it really spicy. I also add a little cream and sometimes honey…
Today I’m wearing another hit of honey in Chergui. It is not as prominent as yesterday’s Prairie Nymph, but it is there.
Love both Prairie Nymph and Chergui, you smell great 🙂
If there is a real similarity I may need to look for Prairie Nymph!
It is not really similar, but both have honey notes. Prairie Nymph is almost totally honey.
SotD = Mon Precieux Nectar
gooOOood morning, NST! I’m up and at ’em early today and soon will be off to the dentist for a checkup. I chose MPN, just a little spritz, because the fragrance is both present and gentle at the same time. Who could object? 😉
I’ve been Chanel No. 5-ing all week, communing with you all via the spirit of perfume. No. 5 EdP has been my bedtime scent. I do a spray in the air then walk through it. When I wake in the morning the drydown smells comforting.
Happy Thursday, fragrant friends.
GooOOOOOood morning tiffanie
😀 hiya, ltsg! hope your day was a gooood one!
A very luxurious and glamorous bed time treat ? sounds wonderful
aw, thank you! No. 5 at bedtime does feel luxe. 🙂 I hope you’ll give it a try.
You smell fabulous!
thank you, cazaubon! No. 5 = fabulous any time of day or night. 🙂
Hope that your dentist visit went well today!
I know that Chance and all its flankers are not a big hit amongst perfumistas, but I like all my samples of Chance Eau Fraîche. Thats my scent today and I am sticking to it.
I visited the Chanel counter yesterday at BG to say goodbye to my saleswoman there, she is retiring. I have know her for 10 years and she did my makeup for part of my wedding celebrations. Today I am sampling some skincare (though I don’t like Chanel skincare since my skin is really sensitive ) but this hydra serum is really nice. The best thing I have tried thus far.
For OaklandF who likes to know my thrift store finds, I am wearing this Gretchen Scott dress today I picked up for peanuts
https://images.app.goo.gl/JPXnVsXGqPLAimqA7
Nice dress!
grazie
Nice dress!
Oh the collar on that is terrific!
Great dress!
Now that would also be a great Beth Harmon outfit (from Queen’s gambit,a Netflix series) with that checkered pattern ?
I love the clothing in Queens Gambit
It makes me also want to learn to play chess!
I do also, such beautiful set design, makeup and costume design.
You are an amazing thrift store shopper.
The Eau Fraiche gives me a headache, but I still like the original Chance edt. I wore it all through my senior year of college, so there’s probably a nostalgia factor, but I think it genuinely smells good, too!
I like the original chance too, but haven’t smelled it in so long.
Eau Fraiche on me, is like a Chanel lemonade 😉
“Chanel lemonade” is what I get from No. 5 Eau Premiere, which is what I’ll be in tomorrow (assuming I can find it…) Love the frock!
I love Chance Eau Fraîche, so pretty and green.
Eau Fraîche is my favourite version of Chance. 🙂
I love Eau Fraiche and also Tendre too. They are easy, lovely wears. You smell great!
I haven’t smelled the original or Tendre in sometime
I went through a bottle of the original and Eau Vive. They were both great imo.
I like the Chance perfumes. Not really any other Chanel I like, but I’m no perfumo.
I think anyone who’s reading this blog and has created an account and left a comment must qualify as a “perfumo”. ?
Good Morning NST friends. My SOTD is Lipstick Fever by Juliette Has A Gun.
I really enjoy this lines fragrances. They do a really good job!
Hope everyone has a great day.
I keep looking for this to try at my Sephora.
It’s a good one, but the longevity isn’t as good as I would like, but still really good.
In Amouage Gold from a sample. It is only a dabber, but on me this is not a BIG perfume. Just polished and somehow cool. Must be the LOTV mentioned in some comments.
Scent Twins! I love Gold, and I agree that on me it’s polished and gorgeous but not loud. You smell great!
Nice that you experience it the same way! I’ll keep an eye out for your “perfume loves” in the comments. And we’re doing the CP, according to Angela’s review of Gold that says Gold makes no 5 look like a crude sister chewing with her mouth open. (Paraphrasing here…)
I am wearing an Amouage as well. That makes us….. siblings? ?
You smell great and very elegant by the way, i must revisit my Gold sample soon!
We share a Fille en Aiguilles love, for sure!
Wearing Prada Amber Pour Homme Intense this Thursday.
You smell great Lucasai!
Why thank you! I remembered that you were quite a fan of this Prada.
Santal Kardamon from Hajusuuri’s split today. Woods, leather and vanilla…oh my! ? ? ?
Somewhat humorously…this also comes up when you search for bear… ? Was wondering if anyone stays in touch w/ Bear who loved some emojis himself…hope he’s well.
Thanks for the well wishes yesterday…tomorrow is Friday.?
I miss Bear too, and his triple espresso morning workout posts
I might have to be your twin today – I only did a tiny spritz of my split, but it smelled a little odd on me – this was the encouragement I needed to give it another whirl!
Santal Cardamom sounds very appealing!
I thought of ?too this morning. I put on Le Lion, and thought that I bet he would like it alot.
Starting off in Sycomore today, which has nothing to do with No. 5 other than being by Chanel. Vetiver is really hit or miss for me, but this one is a definite hit, although I don’t think I could get through a whole bottle. When will Chanel answer our prayers and do little 15mL coffrets like Hermes?
I agree that they need smaller bottles! I LOVE the Hermes coffrets!
Accidentally fitting the CP in PPP Rose Boheme from a sample. On me it’s this giant old-school chypre. Its old-school-iness is what makes it Chanel No 5-esque to me. I am a fan of neither CN5 nor this scent. Oops.
I am not a fan of 5 either!
Woke up in Coco Mademoiselle and now in no 22 edt.
Mmmmmm n22. You smell awesome.
I wore No 22 to bed last night
No. 22 EDT is the best! My first Chanel I bought for myself. No. 5 was my late mother’s scent.
I got nuttin for the CP. Chanel doesn’t work that well on me (although I must admit I haven’t done a great deal of testing beyond No. 5, No. 19, Coco and Chance).
SOTD is Eau d’Italie Jasmine Leather, which thus far (about 30 seconds in) is remarkably light and sweet. After a minute, the leather shows up. It’s kind of dry and dusty, which isn’t a bad thing at all. Sadly, I don’t get a huge hit of saffron, though I think it probably contributes to the dry and dusty aspect. There are some florals floating around the top, but they don’t strike me as strongly jasmine. Maybe more reminiscent of jasmine tea. Definitely wearable, and probably a hit for those who like light leather (that sounds a little kinky).
Have a great day, all!
That sounds very in keeping with the Eau d’Italie style.
In Egypt by Eight & Bob. This is a comfortable and cozy scent–citrus, nutmeg, lavender and moss. If it leaves Egyptians scratching their heads, I can understand why. ‘Hot Toddy’ or ‘Tea and Sympathy’ would have been more apt names.
Tea and Sympathy is a good name.
It is surprising someone hasn’t used it for a perfume!
I’m testing out Le Labo’s Lys 41. It’s supposed to have a lot of sillage & longevity, but it’s almost gone on me after less than three hours. It’s certainly pretty, but white florals don’t really suit me. I suspect this will wind up in my trade pile soon.
On me it is also very pretty, but stays close to the skin and gone within 2 hours. I would have bought it if I had unlimited funds! Along with 28 La Pausa.
That’s so funny. On me it lasts as long as a Tauer fragrance. My skin is super dry – do you think that makes a difference?
Wearing Robert Piguet Baghari for CP points today, to me it smells very similar to No 5 with lots of aldehydes. I am an intermittent poster these days (sniffle) as my iPad use has caused tendinitis in both shoulders besides the arthritis that’s already there. I start PT next week and I’m supposed to only use a pc with a keyboard and mouse, except that flares it up, too. Basically I need to rest both arms for a few days but how do you do that?? And how do I live without the internet? ? (yes, I am being pretty dramatic in the scheme of things. Still, phooey.)
Do whatever you have to do to stay mentally strong. And if NST helps, your shoulders will eventually forgive you.
I have issues due to excessive ipad use too. I bought a soft foam Flipy stand on Amazon so I don’t have to hold it up all the time, less strain.
Thanks for the rec! I was just about to look for ergonomic accessories.
This is the one I bought, very happy with it:
https://www.amazon.com/Multi-Angle-Tablets-eReaders-Smartphones-Magazines/dp/B00MFWDVGG?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1
I hope you find a good solution and your shoulders feel better soon!
Unpacking the last of my evacuation boxes last night, I discovered that my bottle of vintage Diorissimo had leaked and almost entirely emptied. Heartbreaking from a perfumista standpoint, but if that and my garden and the financial impacts from travel gas, hotel, etc. were my only losses from this horrific fire season, I’m still one of the lucky ones!
Struggling with the blues today, so I’m in Vaniglia for the comfort factor.
Hey Isabella, these are rough times. Sending you a big virtual hug (nutmeg scented as it turns out today).
Thanks for the nutmeg hug!
So sorry about your perfume and the financial pinch. 🙁
I’m glad you are safe Isabella and very sorry for the stress.
Is that SMN’s Vaniglia? It’s a Good blues beater!
Oops — the Italian in me added that “g.” It’s L’Artisan *Vanilia*. But I’m going to have to check out the SMN one; I love that line.
Biggest hugs to you. I can only imagine how much stress you’re going through.
Thank you for the hugs! Fortunately, things have been (knock on wood) pretty calm since we were allowed back home, and I think we’ve *all* built up some pretty tough stress-endurance muscles of late!
Ain’t that the truth? Sending more virtual hugs for your stockpile.
Hugs, and my hope that you will have less stress soon!
So sorry Isabella. I would have the blues too. Onwards and upwards, right?
So sorry. Big hugs and hopes for lots of goodness coming your way.
Oh no! I’m a fellow lover of Diorissimo, that is so sad. But what matters is that you’re safe, and you have a good sense of perspective. I’m so sorry you’re feeling blue, you have good reason to feel that way but I hope it lessens this weekend, and that you’re able to revive your garden. Sending you a LOTV hug!
Still no CP, but I wore lots of Perles de Lalique after biking to work and back. Now having a nice Rosé and linguine AL tonno for a relaxing evening.
You smell fabulous! I really enjoy Perles de Lalique.
Feeling rose patchouli today, decided to wear Dior Gris Montaigne which hasn’t had an outing for a long time.
This was love at first sniff for me, back when I thought I didn’t like rose, or patchouli. Lol
Is this similar to POAL?
Not at all, it is very light and elegant, totally opposite the powerhouse PoaL is.
Wearing Le Temps d’une Fete this morning, for no good reason other than I haven’t pulled it out of the drawer for a while.
Trying to get into my work this morning and having a hard time doing so. Our third finance person in a year emailed me late at night before the holiday to ask me to explain something I’ve had to explain two times already…don’t they share notes? Trying not to lose my patience and get in the right mindset to respond and send him a summation of months of work early this year.
You smell wonderful!
Hope you found that mindset, ockeghem!
No 5 eau de cologne today, so strong and long-lasting.
I almost wore this today. I have just a tiny bit left though, and decided to thunk it tomorrow. It’s so very good!
Glamorous even!
My No.5 of the day is Mon Guerlain. I just love this, it suits me so much better than any Chanel ever will. It’s just this lack of über elegance that I love about Guerlains. They are such a comfort.
Guerlain makes such beautiful scents
I totally agree, Guerlain all the way. Chanel doesn’t hit the same sweet spot for me.
Friday here again, another week has flown by. I don’t have any variations on Chanel No 5, but I do have a large bottle of Bois des Iles, so am in the vicinity. I bought the bottle in Australia a few years ago, and it was 200mls or nothing, so I got 200mls. It’s more than a lifetime supply, I haven’t made a perceptible dent in yet 🙂
Spray with abandon, then! Bois des Iles isn’t that long lasting on me. Be generous.
Forgot to set my alarm and woke up from a dream where my brother urged me to make him my financial manager before I sign any big deals with – a studio, perhaps? (that part of the dream was unclear – but it was a fun dream!). However, the dream cost me 90 minutes of waking time and now I’m playing catch up, in commando, reading your posts for inspirations once I can make it to the shower! 🙂
A fun dream AND you got to sleep in! Hope you caught up eventually.
It’s Ummagumma for me today.
Isn’t that a Pink Floyd album ?
I think I read somewhere that one of the band members coined the word “ummagumma” (to mean hanky panky or something like that), so I guess it might be an album name too. 🙂
Chanel Allure EdT today. Chanel is one of my favorite houses, if not my very favorite. This has been a fun week!
I’m so glad it is working for some of us! (Although I am not included in the us part, LOL…)
I’m wearing Le Lion today. I love it!
Debating on staying an extra hour at work today. I will see how I feel when it’s closer to quitting time.
Le lion is very nice!
Did you end up staying an extra hour?
Nope. It started getting crazy, so I made my escape. Lol.
Chanel No 19 EDT
Great choice!
Gorgeous! I do love No. 19, especially the EDT.
I was reaching for Safran Troublant in the cabinet when I saw an unfamiliar bottle. I pulled it out, realized I hadn’t worn it in ages, and put some on. SOTD is Vanille 44. Chanel is on deck for tomorrow, but probably the body oil, my legs create a little snowstorm when I remove my socks.
That’s funny – your version of that classic dandruff scene in The Breakfast Club!
??
Hello, folks!
Actually did a spritz of Chanel No. 5 EdT. For some reason I’m perceiving musky or woodsy or indolic(?) notes from it right away. Other times that I’ve tried it I got a lighter floral, and I guess the aldehydes(?), as the first thing I could smell. I’ve been kind of goofed up from allergies/hayfever for a few weeks, so I guess I’m lucky I can smell anything. But I did manage to participate this week, so there’s that.
I feel you on the allergies/hay fever misery. Iv been better for about a week – since it started raining and cooled down a little here. When my allergies are bad I actually think fragrance makes it worse but I STILL wear it ?
Thanks for the sympathies. 🙂 Certain scents don’t seem to help when I have bad allergies, and other things don’t bother me. *shrugs* Some fragrances seem to bother me whether I can consciously pick up much of a scent from them or not. Fortunately, I have lots of other choices. 🙂
Does rain help with, or aggravate your allergies?
I find it helps because it takes some of the dust, pollen etc out of the air.
My reaction is different from Merlin’s. Rain doesn’t help with my allergies, because I think we have a lot of mold and mildew spores and whatever in the area, and we’re all allergic to that stuff. We seem to be allergic to leaf mold, too. We’ve had mushrooms coming up here and there in parts of the yard that are normally relatively dry grassy areas, but haven’t really been dry lately.
Virtual *hugs* to those who have been having sad/stressed/rough days and weeks lately.
Chinatown from a sample today. I like this one but a bit too much tuberose for me. Sun is back out today yay. Not like it goes for long here but still lol. Beverage of the day, Citrus Sunrise Celestial Seasonings.
I think of Chinatown has a wonderful mash-up!
SOTD = Chanel No.5 Eau Premiere
Another aldehylic floral ?. It has poor to medium longevity but allows me to wear something different afterwards!
https://www.instagram.com/p/CHgCcVYhuwh/?igshid=1fiotgqj3j4a0
Since I got back to NST too late, I did not mention what I wore yesterday – Chanel No.5 Extrait (Vintage). Powdery aldehylic floral and oh so good!
https://www.instagram.com/p/CHgBkCwhsIr/?igshid=10bhss6s7awqv
In other news, I received 3 packages today! After curing (1 day), I get to open them. Woo hoo!!!
I would call Eau Premiere a moderate performer. I find the original edp and edt too aloof for me though…
Not sure if I’ve tried the Parfum.
The original Eau Premiere and vintage extrait.. Nice!?
Yesterday I wore Cristalle Eau Verte. Iv had great use of my bottle but have to say I found it a bit dull yesterday. So, today I’m in Pour Monsieur- my LEAST used Chanel and actually really enjoying it!
I think the cardamom and ginger notes are shining today!
Ginger is perfume is wonderful. I wish it were used more often. 😉
Can anyone recommend a neurologist in CT, other than Yale epilepsy center? I’m pretty desperate right now.
SOTD: Romance
And Happy Belated Birthday Robin.!
I can’t help with a recommendation, but I hope you find what you need! Fingers crossed.
Thank you, Sistine.
No recommendation to give but sending you hugs and healing vibes, so sorry you aren’t well.
I’ll take those hugs and vibes, thanks.
Wish I could help, sorry.
Your comment did. ?
Thank you AnniePerfumes, and sending more good wishes your way…hope you find the right person.
I wore Monsoon today, because it was pouring. It fit the weather and smelled incredible.
I had to google this, what a cool bottle! Never heard of it but it sounds lovely.
Monsoon is such an evocative name for a perfume. I love the idea of it.
What she said!
Commando today for perfume.
Long story short, Mr. Jalapeno came thru the surgery fine. I brought him home during the rush hour. He has a bunch of Rx drugs to take, post-procedure, and has a few exercises to do before he starts his PT.
Glad to hear he is home and resting. I wish you both well, and hope being the caretaker for awhile goes smoothly?
Thanks lillyjo. We had a discussion about that earlier tonight. Basically, if he needs help, he will let me know. Otherwise, don’t offer it.
Glad that your hubby is back home and has a quick recovery.
Thanks Gail. It was a relief to get the phone call to pick him up. Today has been tiring.
I bet it was! Hopefully you both have a good sleep tonight.
Didn’t help at all that I had a total crap night of sleep last night. Sometimes I wish I was better at rolling with the punches than I am.
congratulations and well wishes! I’m happy for you both that things went well. Take good care of yourself and your mister. 🙂
Thanks tiffanie. I’ll try my best.
So happy for you. Try and rest up yourself, you must be drained.
Thanks AnniePerfumes. I’m hoping for a good night’s sleep tonight. ?
Oh good, that’s a relief.
Glad to hear he is home safe! Wishing him a speedy and complete recovery.
Glad all went well and he is back home!
I’m glad Mr. Jalapeno got through surgery okay. 🙂
I sniffed some SSS Yin and Ylang, which has a #5 aldehyde, ylang, and sandalwood thing. It starts off awesome, but dies down to this dank, dirty butt smell I do not like. Shame, the start is fantastic. So I just sprayed on some Body shop pink pepper lychee. It’s surprisingly for long lasting, sheer rosy smell with tart fruit and peppery. I like it. Then I put on some Gaga, which I FINALLY found the violet in. Good cheap stuff.
oh yes, Gaga is good stuff. 🙂
I wore a bit of Chanel No 5 body oil again and also added some to the ends of my hair. This really seems to expand your forcefield!
Perfume is a wonderful forcefield, and No 5 makes it perfect! 🙂
I’m wearing Coty L’aimant which Francois Coty allegedly made as a rival to Chanel no 5.
I love it – such an emotionally resonant Scent for me. My favourite chemist scent apart from Lace.
