It's Tuesday and the World Science Day for Peace and Development. Happy 60th to Neil Gaiman! What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Hermès Eau de Néroli Doré. Tea at the moment is Upton Yunnan Golden Monkey.
Reminder: 11/13 will be Chanel No. 5 Friday! Wear Chanel No. 5, or a No. 5 flanker, or a fragrance that is related to No. 5 in some way — it does not have to be by Chanel!
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2020, where I'll try (but frequently fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Rua Nova teapot in Morning Blue by Bordallo Pinheiro is $116.
Good morning Y’all….
Decided to go with Guess by Marciano for a powdery cozy vibe on this cool gray morning! Good stuff…it smells way more expensive than it costs! 🙂
I will be needing powdery cozy vibe by next week, looks like!
In Chanel 31 Rue Cambon EdT for another warm, suny beautiful day!
Happy Tuesday! ?
Enjoy your sunny weather!?
Thank you, I will! It is the last day. Rainy weather forecast for tomorrow and Friday. The cold temps will be also back!
Let’s hope we get a stretch like this in February!
Crossing fingers! ?
Fabulous.??
??
You smell wonderful! I’ll probably have to pull that out sometime this week as it’s my only Chanel.
Thank you! It is such an elegant and easy to wear scent! One of my favorites from Les Exclusif.
Would you believe that my cats did not take advantage of the sunny bay window today? Silly kitties.
You need to have a serious talk with them! ??
Chanel Jersey and a cup of green tea.
What a tranquil morning (if its morning where you are)
I always found Jersey to be a very calming fragrance.
Tea Marco Polo
Allure parfum & tender moisture mist
Dress blue and white thrift max mara weekend, short sleeved for the maybe the last of this beautiful weather..
Robin, that is a beautiful tea pot.
This is what I drink out of the mornings I have my tea
https://images.app.goo.gl/NFuxh13UmdwTqEdc6
Yours is beautiful, ltsg! I really don’t have a fancy teapot, but if any of my current ones break I just might get something nicer 🙂
This one has a broken lip, but it’s wabi sabi or however you spell it
🙂
❤️ Marco Polo Tea! Good choice. I should get myself some more of that one…
Its my favorite, also French Breakfast or any vanilla tea
You had me at “any vanilla tea”.Yesssss.?✌?
When are you coming over for tea
This slow slog along my weightloss journey–my fantasy is to be able to wear vintage designer clothes. I still have a way to go, but what fun it will be! Keep sharing your finds when you find links. I am happy to be a clothes horse vicariously!!
Something I have that I love but I can’t find a photo of it is a Missoni blue pant suit. It very rock star but from a different era..
Well OaklandSF..I searched just for you and here is the blazer
https://images.app.goo.gl/HLdfTdECV2CaMVSJA and the pants are the same. It’s hard to tell from the photo but it very glittery.
OMG is that fabulous!
Very fabulous!!
True I don’t have anywhere to wear that to but…It sure would be worth constructing an occasion!
Chanel ?, I’ll save Eau premiere for Friday. Tea is TJ’s spiced chai. My neighborhood starbucks has been closed for the past few days, I guess that’s one way to kick the habit. My wallet is thanking me.
Our beautiful weather is gone and our typical midwest dreary weather has arrived. It fits my mood today. It’s the one year anniversary since my beloved granny’s passing. It’s hitting me harder than I thought it would.? I have the day off, but maybe it would have been better to be at work and be busy. Oh well. Time is so strange. On one hand I can’t believe it’s been a year and on the other hand, so much has happened in that time. Time just keeps on ticking away. As much as I miss her, I’m so glad she’s not here to see this pandemic. Her nursing home isn’t allowing visitors and I think she would have died of a broken heart. Family was everything to her.❣️
Sending good thoughts your way.
Thanks @ka_rina.
Hugs to you. I think it’s better to have the day off especially the first year. ❤
Thanks lillyjo, I’m sure you’re right. I probably would have been useless at work today.
Sending comforting hugs Mtg! ?
Thanks pl67.
How do you like TJ’s Chai tea? We’re big Chai tea drinkers in the house and are always looking for a fast, easy, and tasty Chai.
We are spoiled, a neighborhood cafe owner is from New Delhi, his Chai is so delicious (not low-calorie) and addictive.
I love it! I get the box of regular tea bags, because I think they have a few different chai’s. I used to drink Stash but picked up a box of this one day and now it’s my morning go-to.
I bet your neighborhood chai is fantastic!
Thanks madtowngirl! I’ll be certain to pick up a box next time I’m at TJ’s!
Yes, it’s fantastic and the real deal, the smell of chai mixed with coffee hits the senses as soon as we enter the cafe. It’s glorious.
Some friends mentioned they drink a dirty Chai with a shot of espresso, although I love the smell, I don’t particularly care for the beverage.
So sorry you’re feeling down today. Sending more hugs.
Thanks NR.
I’m sorry, mtg. Sending you love.
Thanks Koyel.
Hugs!!!
Thanks ltsg.
I’m so sorry for your deep sorrow – this is so very difficult. ((HUGS))
Thanks ST.
Add my hug to the collection.
Thank you LizzieB.
Sending hugs; anniversaries of losses can be so hard.
Thanks Isabella. You are right and I wasn’t prepared for that.
?Hugs!!
Thanks johanob.
Thinking of you! ♥
Thanks springpansy.
Hugs! Anniversaries can be hard, but also a good time to remember all the lovely things about that person.
Thanks, you are so right.
Sending comforting hugs. It is a blessing she didn’t have to deal with the pandemic, it is so hard on isolated seniors.
Thanks cazaubon, I totally agree. My heart breaks for the families who haven’t really gotten to say goodbye to their loved ones during this time.
My mom’s mom passed away in the early 1990s, and I still run things past her in my mind–funny stories, or introducing her to people I know she would have liked. I am still sad she died before I met my now husband. They would have gotten along like a house on fire.
Aww. I know I am really lucky to have had my gramma for as long as I did, 50+ years! not many people get to say that.
oh my a year. Time is slow and fast, isn’t it?
Myself, I am grateful every day that neither of my parents are here for this. I will keep you in my thoughts.
Thanks apsara.
I am sorry to hear your heart is heavy today. Biggest hugs to you and everyone else missing your granny.
Thanks sistine.
Hugs on this sad anniversary for you, madtowngirl. My sympathies.
Thanks Jalapeño.
Also sending you comforting hugs on this sad anniversary.
Thanks Gail.
Hugs, MTG!
Thanks MB.
Chanel No. 5 L’Eau, a fun citrussy take on the classic No. 5. Aldehydic lemons that smell a little like a hair spray.
I enjoyed 5 L’Eau all summer long – spritzed it after my evening shower. I even bought the little twist and spray version because it’s just so elegant. I may wear it this Friday.
You smell great! It’s funny you should say that it’s a little like hairspray because I get that hairspray note from the Les Eaux’s.
I think several Chanels remind me of a hair spray or a nail polish.
And happy birthday, Robin! Thank you for this website and community!
Thanks Glannys!
Oh, birthday? Sorry to miss this and thank you for the many years of enjoyment through this blog!
I’m in Chanel 19 edp for the day. Almost all Chanels have something chanel-y about them to me. A “chanelade” in the base perhaps? Anyway – that’s how I’m making it count towards CPs ?
I agree – all Chanels or most of them have that Chanel thing going on to my nose. I like it!
Chanel definitely does have a characteristic style.
Go big or go home Tuesday!
Chanel No.5 Parfum.Perfection on a stormy rain-drenched day!
Not sure what my choice will be on Friday as yet, maybe something from the Les Exclusifs vault.
Happy Tuesday!
XO
You smell perfect! ?
Thank you M!?
I can smell you from here…
Is that a good thing?Lol!
#MissionAccomplished.
I’ve never smelled the Parfum, I bet it’s glorious.
Hope your sun comes back soon ?
Reports say by Friday yes, which sucks cuz standby weekend for theater.Lol.
XO
This one is a heavyweight! I am going to wear it this week. You smell fantastic!
Thank you Glannys,I am sure you will smell equally FABULOUS!??
Happy Birthday to Neil Gaiman! I think my favorite of his is American Gods, but I haven’t read his entire oeuvre.
Playing along today in Yes I Do, which is an aldehydic white floral fragrance. Surely No. 5 played an inspirational role somewhere.
Four weeks left in the semester and I feel like I’m running out of steam. I work with several college students currently, and we all agree that we feel like we’re trudging through deep sand at this point. Must … Keep… Going… : )
My favourite is ‘Good Omens’ which he wrote together with Terry Pratchett!
Terry Pratchett is my very favorite writer, particularly his Discworld books. I reread Hogfather every winter, although my favorites are Reaper Man, Feet of Clay, and Jingo. I had the good fortune to meet Sir Terry at the first American Discworld con. He was lovely.
I love Terry Pratchett too! My favourite are from the Discworld. Particularly the Witches Tiffany, Granny Weatherwax is my #rolemodel #careergoals) and the Watch series.
I have to admit I could only cope with a limited amount of the discworld series. I do however have a signed copy of Hogfather somewhere as I accidentally bumped into a long line at a local mall and found out the guy in the hat signing books was yours truly! He was a little tired and wooden by the time I reached him – but can’t blame the man for that ?
Good Omens is hilarious. I really liked American Gods, but it was intense. Good Omens is something I listen to on my morning commute every other month or so.
I did not read Good Omens, but boy did I love the series. And David Tennant just recently interviewed Neil Gaiman on his podcast 🙂
You should read the book – I preferred it to the series – and I’m not someone who always prefers the book!
I suspect I would prefer it too, but wish I’d read it first. But I will give it a shot!
American Gods is one of the three books I re-read every year. I love it so much.
Hi all,
My SOTD is vintage Chanel No. 22 EDC, meditative incense and white flowers for today’s cool weather.
I’ll wait until later to put the running shoes on! In the meanwhile, I’ll have a cup of tea (when I’m done with my coffee)….. 😀
Have an excellent day everyone!
You smell Amazing!
Oh such a good one,esp vintage!Lovely.
Thanks! This is perfect for today’s cool weather. In the heat, it’s more floral-forward, in the coolness, the incense is more prominent. I’m nearing the end of my bottle but use it or lose it!
Hi all!
I’m in Parfum de Merveilles, which I found for a song on eBay. Sadly all of this line tends to smell like laundry after a few hours on my skin, but they smell heavenly sprayed on my clothing. The parfum particularly has such an elegant woodiness….
I baked some more bread, this one nearly 1/5 buckwheat. Made the perfect toast for breakfast. Sadly I’m already out the door and won’t be back till late.
Stay safe all!
I’ve experienced the same with the newer Hermes scents. Do older versions of Hermes scents turn laundry-smell on you also? I’ve had better luck with vintage versions, especially Bel Ami and Amazone. The dry down is decidedly better….
I wouldn’t say all Hermes, just the Merveilles line specifically. The thing they most have in common to me a laundry vibe in the base.
I have both vintage Bel Ami and Amazon’s and have only smelled the new versions on paper but they seemed mostly faithful. I’ll have to see about getting samples to really determine, though!
I have vintage Amazone perfume and vintage Amazone EDP, the new formulations are flat, and lacking depth in comparison.
Unfortunately, my bottle of the new version is an expensive room spray…. 🙁
I should mention, my bottles are from the early 1980’s, the oakmoss and galbanum are gorgeous, adding an herbaceous, green feel to the perfume.
I agree with both of you. I don’t have “vintage” Hermes, but my Caleche Eau Delicate smells very elegant, while the new formulation Hiris is blah and the Jardins series also. I like 24 Faubourg though. Waving to Springpansy…
SOTD = DSH Oeillets Rouges, one of my favorites. I find myself wearing all my comfort scents this fall.
Fabulous teapot! I am having my high octane coffee at the moment, but later I will have some nice Chai with extra ginger and tumeric in it, in a teapot that is not nearly so nice. 🙂
I ended up having a bit of latte later in the day too 🙂
Amazingly, COVID has made stimulant junkies of us all. Left to my own devices, with no caffeine equivalents, I would sleep for a couple weeks.
Is it covid? I did not even think about that. Perhaps you’re right.
Love the teapot! I’m in Black Cashmere today, both olfactorily and literally. It feels like only yesterday that it was 117 degrees and I was dunking my son in cool baths to keep him from overheating. Today the yard is coated in beads of ice, beautifully backlit in the morning sun, but the change is a bit shocking!
Sounds beautiful in any case!
It sounds glorious. Can I come visit?
In Viktoria Minya Hedonist right now. For some strange reason I am off the today and tomorrow and working the rest of the week. I am so used to working Monday through Friday but with the holidays coming up, things are going to be pretty goofy. I think that I am going to go with no 19 edp for this afternoon.
I’m wearing a spritz of No.19 today, because I have to buckle down for more paperwork.
Today is the 45th anniversary of the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. For anyone who lives by the Great Lakes, you’ve probably heard this song a thousand times today already, but it’s a great tribute to the lives lost.
https://youtu.be/K6DUFPNILvM
Smelling sublime!?
I knew what that link was gonna be. 45 years, wow. I grew up south of Lake Superior and I remember that story from when I was a kid.
Good luck with your paperwork!
I knew you would know!
?
Funny. I know the song, and a little of the story, from when I was a kid—but somehow imagined it had happened decades earlier. I suppose when you get as old as I am, everything has happened decades earlier!!!!
Yes.. but it all still feels like yesterday to me.
No 19 is wonderful.
I learned of the wreck of the EF from Gordon Lightfoot’s song.
Me too.
We had to sing the entire Gordon Lightfoot song in choir when I was in elementary school! I still have a love/ hate relationship with the song.
Thanks for remembering and sharing lillyjo: I too remember my surprise when I found out how modern the wreck was: that song is nearly perfect….it deeply moved me when first heard it as a teen.
I currently live on the same street in Toronto where Gordon Lightfoot lived in the late 1960’s. Pretty sure the original house he lived in is gone. What’s there now is a modern structure that looks to be in a perpetual state of not being complete, which is exactly what a neighbour confirmed one day in a chat when I was walking by. I passed the place a few days ago and thought “hmmmm… maybe it’s a meth lab?” and now I laugh because there are times when I see old photos of Lightfoot and think how much he reminds me of Bryan Cranston!
Hello, all. We have entered our dark, rainy, cold season here in Seattle. To combat this, I am in a plethora of perfume. A bit of Essential Faith musk remains from apres shower last night. I started off with a little Mitsouko in my left elbow crease. Later, I added a tiny spritz of Bois des Iles in the other elbow crease and then I saw my 31 RC decant waving to me, so I added a dab on one wrist. And yes, I am enjoying it all.
The other way we are thinking of combating the dark and the gray is putting up our holiday lights early and leaving them up long. I’m not a super holiday decorator, but I love the lights in the winter. I think it will make my living room office cheerier, too!
That is quite a repertoire you are sporting today!Love it!
My son came down for breakfast this AM in shorts, a t-shirt, and crocs! I told him he’d be freezing in an hour sitting still in front of his computer for his endless online classes–and our leaky creaky house with its juddery windows letting in so much icy wind. An hour later he was in sweats, socks, and fleece-lined slippers. No kidding! The west coast has officially begun its autumn to winter journey.
Yep, the electric mattress pad has been turned on and the fleece & slippers brought out.
I had two pairs of socks on today and a space heater pointing at my office chair. I’m across the Bay from you. Brrr. I know people in the northern states are laughing at us.
This is very common in Montreal, the lights go up early and don’t come down until March. It helps break the winter blues.
It’s such a good idea – I wonder why more people here don’t do it!
I love holiday lights, can’t wait to put ours up.
I love the lights idea ?
Stealing CP ideas from others in Dame Vanille Farfelue. And since it’s so darn cheap, I finally ordered a bottle.
I am going to need to do some CP stealing myself this week 🙂
Oh, how does this compare to Black Flower Mexican Vanilla? I keep meaning to by more of that and never quite get around to it.
It’s not really much of a vanilla scent; it’s more of an aldehydic floral sweetened with vanilla, which suits me fine since I love aldehydes. I really like BFMV, but that one is much more cozy than VF. Dark Horse and the Ginger Lily soliflore are my other Dame faves.
As irisjasmine said, it’s really not a vanilla-focused scent, despite the name. I actually find the name misleading. Definitely nothing like BFMV (which I also like).
Chanel 31 Rue Cambon for me today.
Tomorrow is public holiday here, I was supposed to see a friend but he can’t come… Oh well…
Perfume twins and public holiday twins tomorrow! You smell great! Enjoy your day off tomorrow!
Thanks and you too!
Oh no – cancelled appointments with friends are an ever bigger disappointment than usual at the moment…
Happy Birthday, Robin! I hope you have a lovely day and that the new year will make up in all respects for the horrible 2020. You share a birthday with my mom – so easy for me to remember.
SOTD: L’Artisan Mon Numero 8. Someone wrote a review saying it dries down to a classically beautiful perfume and I agree. So maybe CP adjacent?
Oh! Happy birthday, Robin!!! ? wishing you a wonderful year ahead ?
Happy Birthday, Robin! Wishing you health and happiness! Hope you have a great day today! ?????
Wait. It’ Robin’s birthday?!? Adding my congratulations and well wishes!???
Happy Birthday to your mom and to Robin!
Happy birthday to Robin & momma Amyitis!
Happy birthday Robin! Here’s to a great year ahead.
Happy Birthday Robin!!
Happy Birthday Robin! Hope it is full of only the best things 😀
Happy birthday to Robin and to Amyitis’s mother!
Thank you Amyitis, and many happy returns to your mom!!
Is this the best kept secret on NST??
Happy Birthday Robin!
Hope your day is AWESOME!????
Thanks Johanob!
I am drinking Stash Chai Green Tea (but will have to look for TJ’s next time) and wearing Malle’s Iris Poudre.
You smell gorgeous.
I didn’t know it was your birthday, Happy Birthday Robin!? Thank you for the kindest little corner on the internet. Have a great day!
Happy birthday Robyn, and I totally agree with this comment 🙂
Oops, Robin!
Thanks Gaynor!
I agree, too. I think NST is happy and elegant: HAPPY BIRTHDAY Robin; 11/10 is a fun day.
Thanks madtowngirl, and really sorry you are mourning today.
Still messing around with my Lab On Fire ‘Freckled and Beautiful’. Well, it is growing on me. Still getting a strange popcorn opening, but the jasmine is blooming nicely now. . . I suspect this one will do better in warmer weather as well?
Anyone else tried it?
The sample is sitting on my nightstand, will give it a try this week.
I’ve gone from ‘totally NOPE!’ to ‘hmmmm. . . ‘ to “uh-oh, is it love?”
Robin, I hope you don’t mind this “not-sanctioned” observance of your birthday 😉 – Happy Birthday to you! Stay healthy, enjoy small pleasures of life (tea, perfumes, mini-escapes, etc) and have enough energy for everything you want to do (and for maintaining this community, whether you want it or not 😉 but hopefully you do 🙂 ).
Thanks so much Undina!
That was a lovely way to put it. 🙂 Happy birthday, Robin!
What is this birthday everyone is speaking of? ROBIN!!! Did you try to sneak this past us. Tsk tsk tsk.
May you have the happiest of birthdays!
Thank you so much for the pleasure and laughter you provide in this wonderful little corner of the internet. XXOO, OF
Hear hear!
Ditto Robin..I will eat cake just for you today
Some years I get away with it, LOL…
Planning to try a few from the Ormaie sample pack today, will report back later.
Please do!
So, nothing compelling yet out of the first four. Papier Carbone had an interesting opening, but dried don to a generic vaguely sweet smell, Toi Toi Toi is a sweet woody scent, Les Brumes is a strong citrus, bordering on citronella, and Le Passant was so light I could hardly smell it. Aside from the potent citrus of Les Brumes, these are mostly soft comforting skin scents, very easy to wear. The most appealing part of them to me is the gorgeous packaging and unique carved wood tops. I own L’Ivrée Bleue which is a softly woody iris and enjoy it. If I had unlimited funds I’d buy them all except Les Brumes. 🙂 Two more to go, Yvonne and 28°.
I felt bad for posting a sad song on your birthday Robin.
So here ya go
https://youtu.be/aI585p3e5IM
??????
That is so perfect, lillyjo!
Happy birthday, Robin! ???
OMG I have never seen that (doctored) version, excellent, thank you!
I went through a few, but felt like this one got straight to the point, lol.
Guerlain Liu, day 1 of my Chanel 5 week – this is a clear relative. I have the bee bottle and loathe the silly poufy sprayer. Also, I think this is evaporating with the stopper. Anyway. Happy Birthday to Robin, we’ll all raise a cup of tea to you!
Thanks Eschmeling!
SOTD: Drôle de Rose
You smelled great today floragal, I have not worn that in ages and must pull it out.
Ah! I have an unlabeled purse spray of that, always forget what it is, then have to hunt in ebay receipts to figure it out. Just went through this exercise yesterday so will have to wear it soon!
A big happy birthday Robin!! I have never met you but thru NST you are a big part of my perfume life. Thank you for your dedication in sustaining this community.
I’m in another Sous Le Manteau – this time Fontaine Royale. There is something about the base of this line that I really love. It’s so soft and natural
Thank you yasmina!
Happy Birthday, Robin! ? ?
SOTD = Chanel No.5 The Hair Mist
I have last year’s version that came in a different size and shape bottle❣️ Smells like a light No.5 and very appropriate for today’s warmish weather.
https://www.instagram.com/p/CHa2GamDib4/?igshid=2lwff6tfmrod
I will try not to repeat anything this week as I sure do have enough No.5 in different formulations for the week. If I count the number of bottles and formats and type, I can go on for 2 weeks but I won’t do that because I don’t want to get sick of it ?.
I wish I “got” Chanel No 5. I really really tried to like it. But more for everyone else!
Have you tried all the formulations? I am not counting vintage as quality is less standard.
No, I have just tried whatever the one is at the mall perfume counter. What is the best formulation for non No.5 lovers?
L’eau. It’s fantastic if you like lemon.
Yasmina I don’t like it either! And I have tried.
Did you spray 8 sprays in your hair?
LOL!
Of course ?
Thanks hajusuuri!
Civet from a sample, because it was cold and foggy and I needed something to work against the weather…
Hope that worked!
Omg you guys I’m in Confit de Rose from a sample from a kind NSTer and I’m completely in love. It’s not very rosy on me; it’s just DESSERT (in all caps). I’m not supposed to buy anything except the occasional decant, but I don’t know how I’ll survive without this one once my sample is empty. Why aren’t more people talking about this scent??
Girl. A 30ml bottle is $35. Go get yourself some! It’s basically the same as getting two occasional decants. You said those are ok, right?
Or you can get a 15ml bottle for $24 and leave any guilt completely behind. ?
?!
I did look it up immediately after making this post and just spent the past hour convincing myself that a 15mL bottle is effectively free. Thank you for talking me into considering a 30mL bottle! (Indeed, I did just spend more than $35 on decants from the splitmeet.)
Are you familiar with Kyse? Are there other scents from them that I ought to sample, to take advantage of the flat shipping cost?
I am not familiar with Kyse! I looked over the offerings, and they look lovely, though. Lots of yummy vanillas. I want to say someone has tried a few of them. Educated guess is our She-ra, of course. ?
?
What NancyL. & Oakland Fresca said 😀
Many happy returns Robin.
Wearing TM Miroir des Secrets with its over the top aldehydes as an homage to No 5. This is my most icy cold perfume that is why I usually reach for it in summer.
A Mugler with aldehydes! I bet it’s fabulous. I’m sorry I missed out on most of this collection.
That was a great collection (sigh), I never smelled the rest. I have only this one, and like you Joyaux which is lovely too.
Thanks Aurora!
A quick spray of Papillon Perfumes Angélique, I’m running even later than usual for work!
Hope you made it on time!
Oooh, I just got a sample of that and it is lovely.
I’m in Dame Desert Rose, which I spritzed on the way out the door to PT. I don’t think it was too strong. ? I mentioned to her that I’ve had a hankering to make homemade bread, and was kneading safe at this point. She said no to the dough. Boo. Will have to wait a couple of weeks. I was so burned out on making bread, but now that I can’t do it, I really want to. Contrarian.
Tea of the morning: Numi Aged Earl Grey
Tea of the afternoon: David’s iced Orange Passion
It’s 83 degrees out there with a feels like of 87, and humid. Yuck.
Ooh, you smell great! I love Desert Rose.
Thank you sistine!
Not the same but maybe you could compromise with a quick bread until your injury is better?
I have some bananas that are almost ‘there’, so a quick bread might be just the ticket!
Best to save the kneading until thanksgiving.
Yeah, I really don’t want to shift anything in those knuckles.
Could you maybe use a food processor to knead bread as a work-around?
I actually have a stand mixer, so I could use that for the kneading. I just miss having my hands in dough. It’s therapeutic for me. I’ll get back to it, just takes some time.
Happy Birthday, Robin! I hope it is wonderful in every way.
Wearing Vanille Insensee today, since I had choice paralysis this morning. It works for the last nice day of the year. I would have chosen Poet’s Jasmine, but I thunked my bottle yesterday! It was a partially used tester, but still, I went through that FAST. Maybe that means I need some more…
I’m sure it mean that you need some more!
Thank you, and sistine is right — that’s the definition of “need more”.
I’m wearing Arielle Shoshana’s Sunday today. I’ve been reaching for it a lot lately – it just works perfectly in this 50s-70s weather. I’m not going to break my no buy to get a backup bottle, but this is one that I could see backing up.
On a related note, I really hope the independent perfume shops are doing well. I always treasure the idea of walking into a little perfumed jewel box and sniffing like a maniac. Going to Scent Bar felt like a pilgrimage.
Yes to perfumeries and also independent bookstores – two of my fav places for browsing (and buying)
Scent Bar is amazing. Such kind and knowledgeable staff; they gave me several samples, and darned if I don’t love almost every one of them. They seem to be active on Instagram, and have IG Lives that are fun!
I’ve sure been throwing a ton of money at small local perfumers. I hope it’s enough. In normal times running a retail business is super challenging.
Doing Classic with a C in Courrèges Empreinte. Probably closer to 19 than 5. It’s really nice and I enjoy it a lot. I think I got my four Courrèges for 40 euros or so.
Didn’t know it was your birthday Robin, hope you have a good day. Golden Monkey is lovely as is Néroli Doré. And I will just add my thanks for keeping NST such a nice place.
We share a star sign by the way!
Then thanks fellow scorpion!
Greetings Austenfan! I hope you’re well and enjoying (as much as it is possible these days) your time in Luxembourg.
Austenfan, I have a vintage on the way from an Ebay – you just made me very happy to anticipate a No. 19-type!
It’s a good one
Chanel n.5 EdP. My mom bought me this bottle, it was a lovely surprise. She isn’t a perfume person, and she went with a classic.
What a great gift!
I’m very happy and totally content in Eau Premiere – my favourite version of no. 5!
Mine too, you smell great!
Thanks MadTowngirl, it is fresh, refined and comforting all at once, no?
Yes! It’s a perfect any occasion perfume. One of my desert island picks for sure.
I suspect I would be a fan of some No. 5 flanker…
Happy Birthday Robin! Hope your day is nice and relaxing ?
I’m wearing Safran Troublant from the splitmeet (thank you E!). It’s very nice and comforting but quiet and wears close to the skin. More of a bedtime scent for me, I think.
I took advantage of the Sephora sale and bought the Nest Holiday candle which, I’m happy to report, rivals the Diptyque seasonal pine scented candle. I liked it enough that I went back and got the Birchwood Pine one as well. Has anyone else had a good experience with Nest candles? It’s my first time purchasing them.
Wow, that is good to know! Although half of why I want the Diptyques is the pretty jars.
(And thanks!)
Happy Birthday, Robin! I hope you have a lovely celebration with your family.
I tested six Lucky Scent samples today, not a “must have” in the bunch. Money saved, which is a good thing because I bought myself a Fitbit Charge 4 this morning on sale at Macy’s. My Garmin Vivosmart has started giving me wonky readings and the battery life is declining, so time for a new one.
Thank you!
I am on my 3rd fitbit and so far none of them died or stopped functioning properly, so I guess that’s a good sign.
Happy Scented Birthday, Robin! ?????
I am listening to geese honk as they fly off to somewhere else. Grey clouds were creeping in late this afternoon, so the beautiful stretch of weather is on its way out, too.
SOTD = back in Cristalle EdT.
It’s pouring rain here now. Better locate the umbrella.
I have a high tech rain jacket that repels water, if need be. Keeps me dry as a bone.
Smellin’ good ?
Why mess with perfume success, right?
Thank you!
(But boo to the weather news, boy I wish it would stay like this.)
Happy Birthday, Robin! I hope you had a wonderful celebration today!
Wearing Chanel No 5 spray body oil today. I will have to use this more often now that the snow has returned along with cooler temperatures ❄☃️
SotD: Chanel No. 5 edp. I have a current version, which was a gift, and a vintage-ish (’80’s, ’90’s?) bottle. Today was the current version; it was very nice, but if I did not know what I was smelling, I would just think this is nice, but I would not think it was fabulous. I don’t have any No. 5 flankers. I will wear what I have the rest of this week. 6 or 8 hours after my 4 or 5 spritzes today, I liked it very well, and thought (being influenced by many reviews that mentioned this), if this was a little more animalic, I’d really like it. Having smelled vintage No. 19, I will not seek vintage No. 5 with my limited splurge money. I will accept it in its current form, and give a perfumed high five to those of you who “rock it.” Maybe the fact that I love Allure edp is telling???
Nothing wrong with liking what you like!
Late post today, but hello, NST people. 🙂 My bedtime scent last night was SL L’Eau d’Armoise. I did a couple of light sprays on my forearms from a manufacturer’s sample, and couldn’t get much of a scent from it. I’ll try again with a larger amount of the fragrance sometime. lol
I got a bottle of Chanel No. 5 EdT just before the local mall shut down for a while, so it must have been February or early March this year. I like it quite a lot, but not as a bedtime scent for me. I’ll probably go with something amber or lavender or incense tonight. Maybe La Myrrhe — that’s another one of those Serge Lutens lemmings of mine. 🙂
Started my day in vintage Vol de Nuit, then some hours later layered on some Coromandel.
Got a bunch of samples in today too so will be having fun with those. Not like I don’t have a giant pile of samples I haven’t already worked though…
In other news, I made chocolate chip cookies and… not great. What a bummer. We’ll still eat them, of course!
Happy Birthday Robin! And hugs to everyone going through tough times.
I forgot to say at the time — such a pretty teapot. 🙂
