It's Almost-Friday and National Cat Day. Birthdays: Fanny Brice, Niki de Saint Phalle, Bob Ross. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in the uber-wistful Guerlain Après L’Ondée, just right for a rainy day when you're not quite awake just yet.
Reminder: on 10/30, we're doing Emotionally scented...wear a perfume that gives you a strong emotional response (it makes you laugh, cry, feel sad, or becomes part of your armor to face the world, etc). Suggested by johanob, who gave the example of Guerlain L’Heure Bleue, which makes him feel sad.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2020, where I'll try (but frequently fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

If I’d known it was Niki de Saint Phalle’s birthday I would have worn the fragrance. I am wearing Lolita Lempicka Minuit Noir, from my unused decant bag. I think it is unused because it has too much licorice for me.
If I had known this I would have joined you
Rain Rain go away
Today I wearing L’Occitane bergamot body cream, picked it up yesterday after my flu shot.
Also trying out a sample of the divine face cream.
I am smelling very good all over.
I would say this scent gives me the feeling on tranquility.
Just finished a book called red white and royal blue. A light, don’t need to use your brain book. Fun.
I love their body products, their shea butter body cream is a godsend in the winter! You smell wonderful!
The lotion I picked up yesterday has shea butter in it also. But its a “whipped lotion”, not sure if that makes sense. Its very light
Hmm..does Shalimar have bergamot in it? Maybe I could layer..
I think this lotion can stand on its own though
I think it might layer very very well with Shalimar!Try it and let us know your thoughts!?✌?
I liked the Divine cream until I had an allergic reaction after wearing it for 3 days.
oh no!
Do tell what happened. I have sensitive skin and now I am worried..
So far today nothing has happened but it is just one day
I developed a pinprick rash on the right side of my chin and a little bit on the cheeks. I was happy it was not all over but of course wonder why the rash only appeared on certain places. I was lucky I did not start with the eye cream!
Hello everyone 🙂 I’m wearing Imaginary Authors Memoirs of a Trespasser to keep warm on another chilly wet day full of errands. It’s like my own little vanilla campfire and makes me feel warm and cozy.
A vanilla campfire perfume would be perfect for our chilly weather!
You smell great!
Sounds like an excellent scent on an autumn day ?
I wore that earlier this week. It’s fantastic, and you smell wonderful!
Chilly and wet here, too!
Hi all!
Woke up this morning chilly! One of my favorite feelings is being in a warm bed.
I picked Amaranthine today, creamy and seductive without being obvious.
I was just thinking that Duchaufour really the us a curve ball with Timbuktu and the other dry incense woods he helped popularize. He is a master of lush florals! He has so many it would be hard to name but most of the ones that have made it to my collection are interesting, grand florals.
Anyway, stay safe everyone!
My sister has a bottle of Amaranthine, and I steal a spritz every time I visit her. You smell great!
It’s great stuff. I might like Ostara a tad more but not upset having both.
Oh, you smell amazing. I wore Amaranthine last week, and I totally agree with you on Duchaufour.
P.S. I finally got your freebie in the mail yesterday. You should have gotten a Paypal email with the tracking number. Enjoy!
I saw that! And for the life of me I couldn’t remember what I’d “ordered.” I’m very excited to receive it. Thank you again!
Oh, you are wearing one of my favorites!
It’s lovely! You have great taste.
Haven’t worn Amaranthine for ages – I’ll have to dig it out of the cupboard. Thanks for the reminder!
Yes, please do!
Amaranthine is flat out beautiful. I treasure the sample I have of it.
So beautiful it hurts! I can’t imagine why they discontinued it.
Back at home in rainy and chilly NYC. Quarantining is a good excuse to stay inside.
After many days of Oeillet Bengale, I decided to shop in my cabinet. Wearing Adam Levine, which was bought on a whim and rarely worn. Just cozy enough.
My sister tested positive for COVID and is, according to my nephew, pretty miserable with aches, exhaustion…and, worst of all, nausea. Her husband’s symptoms have been mostly the loss of taste and smell. They’re holed up in their bedroom to protect my nephew, who tested negative and is able to leave food for them outside their door. (His room is downstairs, and he said he basically wears hazmat gear when he’s on the main floor.) Other sister and B-I-L are getting tested today but so far have no symptoms.
On a positive note, our flights home yesterday were stunningly efficient. I’ve gotten so used to cross-country non-stop flights that changing planes always seems an ordeal. But…our take off to final landing was less than 3.5 hours, which is so fast compared to those longer flights.
Agnes hissed at me and hid from us for while, but she came to her senses pretty quickly. All is forgiven. Unfortunately, her middle-of-night talking made sleep difficult for her sitter. Oh well….
Ahh, poor kitty cat is annoyed with her humans. They don’t like change, do they?
I hope she’ll come to her senses in a day or two.
She’s already back to normal…just short-term confusion.
I hope your Sister and BIL get better very soon!
Sorry to hear about your sister. Hope she soon makes a full recovery!
Healing vibes for your sister.
Aww man, sorry about your family’s covid news..sending healing vibes!!!???
Sorry to hear about covid in the family, i hope your sister and her husband recover fully!
I hope everyone ill will steadily improve and that your nephew will remain negative!
Yikes about your sister and BIL! Healing vibes!
Hope your family is feeling better soon! And you smell great in Adam Levine!
Sending good wishes your way and hope your family stays healthy.
Sorry to hear about your sister and her husband. I hope they recover soon. Sending healing thoughts!
LizzieB, please keep us updated about your sister!
Oh no, hope they get better soon!
I’m sorry to hear that your family members have tested positive. That’s got to be incredibly stressful. Fingers crossed for a quick and complete recovery, and that no one else has it.
Hi everyone!
I am enjoying a staycation this week. At the moment i am still in sweatpants and a hoodie (its already 3 pm here ?
Not wearing perfume yet, but I will probably wear Sycomore. Happiness in a bottle. ???
I dont post as often here as I used to do but I still try to check in a few times a week. Cause this is still the best perfume community.❤️
I am just tired, my energy levels are not what they used to be. World Politics, covid19, less sunlight and still working from home….all those things are wearing me down. I try to stare less at screens and read more books, and be outside when i have the opportunity.
Luckily I still have a job and my loved ones are still healthy. ?
Hi Jiji! I’m retired and when I’m not going out it’s sweatpants & hoodie all the time. 🙂 I’m worn down too. Hoping things will get better next spring.
I am already looking forward to spring/summer weather.
I need sunshine!
Lets hope winter keeps her visit short and distant ?
You smell fab!
Sweat pants and a hoodie count as transitional from pajamas to going out so I think you are dressed 🙂
Yes, what MossyBerry said. LOL!
?
Well, in my neighborhood, i always spot plenty of folks who consider sweatpants the perfect outfit for doing groceries or even for a visit to a lunchroom. ?
To each their own…. But I dont think you will ever see me go to the supermarket in sweat pants (okay, i did that years ago, when i was not feeling well at all and there was no one around to help me with groceries).
Just check in of you feel like it. All this homeworking and the on and off lockdowns can be stressful. My boyfriend has not been at his workplace since March and complains too. We try to go for a walk after work together every other day, this helps.
Walking works for me as well! (And sometimes i run a few miles)
The trees are so beautiful right now….yellows, browns, reds. Just amazing.
Same same, Jiji – it’s all so wearying. But, you’re going to smell fantastic today!
Thank you!
Totally understand, the home office gets to you. I‘ve been to the office 3 times since March and now it‘s dark and I know I won‘t be seeing friends and team mates again for a while… well it does get you down. But you are so right about keeping positive and being thankful for the important things.
The dark and the rain…nope not helping to lift the spirits.
But luckily plenty of entertainment for the housebound these days. ?oh and delivery services…. we had some amazing indonesian food delivered this week. ?
i’m very glad to hear it ☺️ enjoy your dinners!
I’m enjoying the conversation about sweat pants! While my mother has always been a dress up person I have always been – in contrast – a dress down one. That being said, I think active wear can look quite chic if done in the right way. Of course I like to think I can’t be bothered and will wear it whichever way I want 😀
Funny story: I lived for a while in a somewhat downmarket area and people would go to the 24 hour grocery shop attached to the gas station in their pyjamas. I looked right down my nose at such behaviour!
?
Not too long ago there was this trend here in The Netherlands…some women wore loose fit pants with (often colourful) patterns on it and made from flowy fabric. And i bet some of them came with an elastic waistband as well.
Sometimes I had to look twice…”is she wearing pjs…?” ? But then I saw them in stores..those were designed/sold to wear outside the house.
Hahaha, I remember those pants! I never got into that trend.
Nice to see you Jiji. Agree reading (and especially reading in sweatpants) and getting outside are crucial right now.
I’m reading this thread about sweatpants with great amusement. Where I live, sweatpants would probably be considered dressed up as opposed to some of the leggings I see people wearing.
Good morning all, my SOTD is Niki de St Phalle Extrait. I love the quirky twisted snake bottle.
Coffee consumed, shoes on and I’m out the door!
I hope everyone has a lovely day today, will check in later. 🙂
Enjoy your walk
Another day of cozy calm in Vanilla Vetiver from Noteology. It suits the rainy day and mood.
mmmm, you smell yummy
I’m wearing a cozy vetiver today, too: Vetiver Tonka. We have rain here as well and it’s very gloomy and cold.
I wore that this week, too! Vetiver for the soul!
Yes, indeed, irisjasmine!
Showered with Mugler Alien shower gel followed by lots of delicious body cream from the beautiful purple glass box the creams are housed in. I picked mine up at TJ Maxx a while back and the shower gel came with all the great free stuff SAs used to give you when you purchased anything from this house! So we could talk about the jasmine and cashmere and amber but the smell of this fragrance has always reminded of the smell of baby oil and also when you take a new My Little Pony out of the packaging. The plastic has a sweet and pleasing smell. So this divisive fragrance reminds me of very comforting things, the smell I associate with the infancy of my children and their toys. And after the gel and the lotion, no perfume is required! I am decidedly team Mugler. I own and wear Alien, Angel, Womanity and the Cologne.
Team Mugler here! I love the Mugler body products. I regret not picking them up at tj maxx last year.
What do you think of Aura, Stinker_kit and Lillyjo? I use the body cream and I love it. I also find it leaves me perfumed most of the day. I still have not gotten a full bottle of either edp or edt, but I did get the perfumed pen.
I am embarrassed to admit that Angel Muse was the last Mugler I tried at a perfume counter! I have not had a chance to smell Aura.
I like Aura alot. It’s just something I have to be in the mood for. I get mostly vanilla from it on my skin. But with a twist not straight up vanilla. I want to get the edt eventually because it’s like a happier version of Aura, where the edp is darker.
I liked the edt a little better, too. But I ran out of that sample before I got the edp sample, so I could not do a side by side…maybe I will just get another body cream!
I adore Mugler’s body products, especially the body oil in Angel. I have Angel, the Cologne, and Alien.
I realised recently my Muglers are all unisex or masculines. These seem to trigger my allergies less than the ones for women. Unfortunate cos I like Alien Essence… But I can still wear and enjoy a couple of the Amens, the cologne and Miroir de Majestes!
Ohhh, Alien Essence is spectacular juice.
Agree, it is!
lemming runs from Aura to Alien Essence, sniffing others along the way….poor little lemming.
I keep forgetting that I have a bottle of Angel Muse that I should wear more often! Thanks for the Mugler reminder.
I wore Angel Muse a few days ago and goodness it is SO good!
Alien shower gel sounds wonderful! I bet the bathroom would be incredibly fragrant for quite a while afterwards.
Orange Sanguine from Atelier Cologne, which gives me joy!
Stocktake done and dusted.
Weekend starts NOW.
Happy Thursday!
XO
Buon weekend! xxxxooo
???
Have a great weekend!
Thank you T,you as well!(from tomorrow…lol)
You smell juicy!?
I certainly do,a good dose of vitamin c!
Haha!
XO
You smell wonderful!
Thank you Halloween-Queen!???
Enjoy your weekend!!!! ???
Thank you babes!???
Have a good weekend! 🙂
Thanks neyronrose,TGIF!?????
*almost…lol.??
You probably have a decent start on your weekend as I am typing this, but enjoy it anyway!
Thank you Jalapeno!
Very chilled(and HOT!!!)weekend so far…
Friday!!Yay!!???
Morning, all. In SDV again. I’m looking for a caramel fragrance (and I know it sounds like an oxymoron but a not too sweet caramel, preferably). Maybe caramel plus woods? What do we think of Kerosene Unknown Pleasures?
Maybe Omnia Madera? I had a sample long ago.
Unknown Pleasures is more lemon & vanilla on me. For caramel, I would recommend Xerjoff Lira or Omnia Madera.
Thanks!
I get caramel from L’Ambre des Merveilles – could try that if you haven’t already.
Yes,I second that!
I third that, it’s a delicious orange caramel to my nose and not too sweet. I hate sugary scents
Lol – thanks – I have that one! I don’t think of it as caramel, but I’ll put some on tomorrow.
I think Prada Candy might fit the bill. I’ll have to see if I can find my decant easily because now I’m in the mood for it.
That was my vote too. Not sure it’s quite caramel but it’s close.
I gotta tell ya, I smelled a newer bottle not long ago. I got alot of dryer sheet musk, and not as heavy on the caramel/benzoin.
Oh boo hisss! ?
Ah, figures.
Arquiste Anima Dulcis maybe?
Kilian Black Phantom
Oh yes, forgot this one – yummy caramel (among other things).
Al Rehab’s Soft is a gorgeous cheap thrill. It’s very sweet but has a tangy lemon note.
Hermessences Santal Massoia perhaps? It‘s a dulce de leche note, which is basically caramel but from South America. It has the usual Hermessence ‚longevity’ if that a problem. (Not for me, I love it).
Thanks for the ideas, everyone!
Chiming in late, but suggesting Dame Earth Mother for a flavored caramel. Also going to second the original Prada Candy.
Thanks!
Testing Cafe Cabanel by Teo Cabanel today.
Oh report back! I’ve seen glowing YouTube reviews but they are generally not to be trusted.
hi cazaubon, late last night I saw your comment about Dzongkha. I’m not really fond of the current gray bottles L’Artisan is using either.
Are you looking for the old bottle with transparent glass and the gold top shaped like a bolt, or the even older L’Artisan bottle with the tall gold top?
I am looking for anything except the newest bottles – in my collection I have L’Artisan bottles with the most recent gold bolt top, a clear plastic bolt top, and the oldest tall round tops, so any of those would be fine, just don’t think the black tops and smoked glass are suited to the scents.
I agree, the smoked glass is not as appealing.
Might be able to help you out. 😉
I’m tiffanie darling, but without the space between the words, on google mail. Please send me a note if you’d like to chat.
ooo! do tell
It’s quite delicious – very creamy café au lait with a bit of amber in the drydown.
SOTD (and probably the rest of the week) is Cuir Ottoman – new little FB arrived yesterday afternoon. It’s SO good. And kind of CP-appropriate, in that owning more than a decant of it makes me very happy … although just being able to wear perfume at all makes me happy in general. Happy Friday Eve everyone!
I like that one and must dig out my sample! The cooler temps mean so many frags get to shine now…
Smelling FABULOUS today. I love that one.
You smell fabulous!
Oh, yum yum. I am trying to pace myself with my FB purchases, but that one is definitely next in line!
Trying Ambre Khandjar from Une Nuit Nomade today and will weigh in w/ thoughts later…is it Friday yet??? ?
oh yay please let me know what you think I have this in my cart at Luckyscent.
It’s a very nicely done amber. I got spicy, fruity amber w/ some wood and vanilla. I get quite a bit of labdanum too.
Mmmmmmmm
Oh, gosh, earlier today I was asking if it was Wednesday or Thursday. *So* hard to keep track. Someone here called it “Blursday,” and my family has picked that up from my use of it, plus people I talk to elsewhere online or by phone…
“Blursday” — love it! So, so true.
I tried it but can’t really remember it well, so I guess it wasn’t fantastic on me. Looking forward to your thoughts on that and Memory Motel. I ended up buying only Suma Oriental from that line.
It’s a very nicely done amber. I got spicy, fruity amber w/ some wood and vanilla. I get quite a bit of labdanum too.
I tried Memory Motel yesterday and enjoyed that too…both well done but probably won’t seek FBs. Haven’t tried Suma Oriental yet but may try that one tomorrow.
Wore Noontide Petals this morning but switched to Hedonist Iris after I took my shower. Was doing some talking to my bank account and I am on limited means until next week. But that’s ok, I am not doing anything on my vacation to begin with.
How’s Jake?
He is his normal active self. He didn’t have his surgery because of his calcium levels were elevated. The vet is trying to figure out why.
Keeping you both in my prayers. Good to know he is active!
That’s a funny jack-o-lantern!
I’m in Hermes Agar Ebene today. Another one that makes me feel elegant and calm.
You smell amazing!
Great scent!
This CP has thrown me for a loop, but I think I’ve solved it. For whatever reason, I don’t associate perfumes with straightforward emotions, more with places or seasons. Yesterday I stood staring at my perfume drawer, stumped.
Candles, on the other hand…that’s a different story! I was digging my sewing machine out early this morning to make an attempt to take up my kid’s Halloween costume a little bit (bought XS adult cosplay clothes, and they’re a bit big), and I came across my P. F. Candle Sweet Grapefruit candle that I haven’t had out for a while. GRAPEFRUIT! Grapefruit candles make me so happy. I bought a spare of this one early in COVID to make sure I didn’t run out. My holy grail candle for a long time was this amazing Pink Grapefruit Honeysuckle from Fresh back when they were just one store in Boston. They got bigger and discontinued it, but these P. F. Candle ones get closest to it. A little happiness is not hurting me on this grey morning.
I think because so many of my perfumes are tied to memories which are tied to emotions and emotional reponses-positive or negative-it has always been an inseperable thread through my life.Sometimes it’s not the actual perfume but only a certain note or accord that triggers a memory/emotional response. It’s also been mostly comforting though, especially now,to reflect on my life and past experiences and associate it with certain smells or perfumes. The absence of perfume,or the days I chose to not wear perfume are also significant to me in understanding myself better.Lol.Maybe I am just weird, but I cannot seperate perfumes from memory nor emotions.
XO
I get that and think it’s a lovely CP! For some reason I don’t really associate emotions (or they’re complex ones) with the memories, so the perfumes haven’t worked as well for me (unless the emotion is nostalgia, which could work!). Candles, though — I tend to buy those to set a mood so it’s a more direct line for me from candle scent to emotion. And actually, it’s a great excuse for me to burn my candles, which somehow I never get around to lighting! So thanks for that!
Grapefruit scents make me happy, too. 🙂
I make more of an association between flower scents and memories — more exposure to actual floral fragrances than perfumes, I guess. And I have some memory associations from when I used to burn incense pretty regularly. 🙂 I said here a while ago that I associated the scent of clove cigarettes with Goths. Someone else here added their association between regular cigarette smoke and Goths, too. lol
Our local library had a book on cosplay on the “new book” display. 🙂 I was tempted, but it was a good-sized book and I already have lots of books out. I’ll look for it again after I’ve returned some of the other ones.
I could see clove cigarettes and Goths! Regular cigarette smoke makes me think of nights out in Germany in the early ’90s, though. 🙂
A cosplay book would be pretty interesting, I think. I have some friends and relatives who really get into that community, but it’s something I’ve always watched from outside. It does sound like a lovely community, though. My kid is into the new Doctor Who, so cosplay clothes were really the only way to do that as a credible Halloween costume.
Candles — great idea for the CP! Speaking of candles, I trotted off to IKEA last week and scarfed up the new scented candles by Byredo. They smell lovely just sitting there, I haven’t lit any yet.
I’m still mulling over the CP, but for SotD, out of the vintage stash came Privilege. I’m a big fans of sweet, drugstore classic florals and it is a cheerful scent for a misty autumn day. In other news, I was totally underwhelmed by the changes at Fragrantica. It is all “blow up” and cartoonish or something. But I did think I needed to give it time, and not compare it to the old way.
Sounds like I need to try Privilege! (I love drugstore wins)
I remember Privilege. Great bottle.
Thanks, S!
Whoops – wrong place entirely.
Jumping in to just say “hey”! Been a helluvah month workwise. I’m in the last dregs of my decant of Rhinoceros– which is a wallop of leather. If I had to associate an emotion with it, I’d say–intellectual, observant, contemplative. Hmmm. Those aren’t really emotions, or maybe they are. I’ll ruminate.
Glad you came by to say HEY!
???
Waving hi!!!
Hi OF!?
It sounds…ruminative…even if rhinoceroses don’t ruminate ?
I hope next month allows for a bit less rumination and a bit more fun
??
Hello!
Hi! Contemplative sounds like a good place to be, emotionally. 🙂
Hope next month is easier on you!
Hiya! Glad to hear from you!
Thunking my full bottle of Safran Troublant, a scent that makes me feel calm, comfy. It will take a while now to finish another bottle, since most of them have juice to last for a longer time.
Getting the remnants of hurricane Zeta. Rain, rain, and cool weather for the next two days and then a cold front that will freeze us for several days. Where is summer???? ?
Anyway, having a cup of coffee and chicken taquitos. Not the best match, but I am enjoying it!
Happy Thursday! ?
Happy Thursday!
Stay warm!
??❤️
??
Well I love chicken taquitos and I think coffee goes with pretty much everything haha. You smell great!
Thank you, KellyC!
Waving goodbye to your bottle because I’m pretty sure you once shared decant from that bottle with me which I very much appreciated!! Thanks again!
I am so glad you enjoy it! You are always welcome!
Talk to Johano about the summer, he’s hogging it big time!??
Lol.
Hashtag NEVEREVERLETTINGGOOFSUMMERAGAIN….??♂️??♂️??
Nope, nope, nope!!!!
He kidnapped our summer! ?. We need to go there and rescue it or… better stay there! ?⛱
Plan B.Yessss.Perfume party with sundowner cocktails and ONLY swimwear is allowed.???????
Very, very tempting! ⛱?♀️???
Send me three plane tickets and a prescription for a sedative and I’m there!?
Come on you two, start packing!(don’t forget to pick up Lovestosmellgood on your way to the airport, okay??)
OK.????
?
Good idea
I miss the sun so much!!!!
(Yes, even after the heatwave we had…)
?
Congrats on another thunk! I need to dig that one out & wear it again soon.
Thanks! It is the perfect weather to start wearing it.
You are on a tear with the bottle thunking! Sweet!
It is very satisfying!
In honor of your thunk, I’m gonna go spray some of that now. It’s been a while!
Twins! You will smell great!
SOTD = Le Liturgie des Heures, a lovely churchy incense that feels cozy and protective to me. Right now what is on my right hand smells different than what is on my left hand…chilly day, adorable hubby needs to get back up on the roof and caulk a few spots to finish up the roofing job, but it isn’t supposed to rain here for a while, so he is doing other things today.
Ok back to work from home work work work…
It must be the season for incense fragrances! 🙂 I’ll bet you smell very nice. 🙂
JM Orange Bitters. I am really liking this one. I am really not liking getting up early for UK calls.
hmmm, I’ve got orange bitters in my cabinet – maybe I should make an Old Fashioned sometime 🙂
My only large JM is Orange Bitters; I think it’s really quite unique!
I really enjoy orange bitters when the weather gets chilly ?
Yes, it’s a good way of getting some citrus optimism in a warm scent.
Oh yeah… I’m on Pacific time, but have had to do a few presentations (sinning picking up this new project) at 4:30 AM to accommodate folks in EU… not easy.
Noir de Noir which makes me feel sexy. I think it goes nicely with my black outfit and temporary dark purple and blue hair (hello, Halloween!)!
ooo! va va voooom
Very New York.Love it.??
Go you, with the black and purple hair! 🙂 Nice!
Oops — blue and purple hair. Still, nice and appropriate for the season. 🙂 I remember trying hair glitter back when. Oh, that was messy. And I probably have told the story here about cleaning up a corner of a room and finding a vial of fake blood that had cracked. My hand looked pretty gory until I got to the sink.
Yay you for keeping up with the Halloween spirit this year! I just don’t seem to have any gas in the tank for that kind of stuff lately.
I hear you. I will just manage to carve a pumpkin, make some candy bags, and set a table out for our socially distance neighborhood kid’s costume parade. Sigh. Glad I will have all day Saturday to do so little…..sorry to post a bummer comment. I am glad the kids will have an outlet!
Not giving candy out this year. Usually we can go thru 2 Costco-sized bags of candy, and that means a lot of kids. I don’t feel safe doing that, for either the kids’ sake or mine.
I saw an amusing tweet that said to just toss the candy out onto the sidewalk or lawn, like feeding pigeons.
After seeing so many people mention it yesterday, today I’m in Dzongkha. Chilly serenity as the emotion? Another rainy autumn day here, so all week I’ve been wanting incense or leather or wood or spice.
That would be me talking it up. 🙂 You smell wonderful!
SotD = Avignon
Smells like heaven, or some vague approximation. It’s glorious the way Avignon hits all the right notes.
Last night I had the craziest dream. I was in a church I’d never seen before. There was a crowd of people moving about as if it was the end of a service. Suddenly I felt a presence behind me, so I turned to look as a priest in a tall hat and red cassock brushed past me. He smelled strongly of Avignon.
It was strange and comforting to have a vivid smell present in a dream. Even more oddly, my religious upbringing was boringly barren of religious vestments and incense, so my unconcious self was having a wild, good time in church.
Now I’m definitely in the mood for more Avignon. I’d like to sit in a cloud of it today. 😉
I have very vivid dreams, but they do not smell – a whole new category of experiences you’ve got there! 🙂
The church my parents picked after moving to Pennsylvania is an Episcopal church with kind of a middling level of formality. I have occasionally been to a High Church service, and liked the pageantry of the incense censer swinging, and the chanting, and so on. But it certainly wasn’t a regular thing for me.
I wore that one Tuesday. You’re so right, it’s heaven. You smell great.
What an interesting dream! You smell great.
I’ve had quite a few strange dreams, but only a few with “Smell-O-Vision”. The ones with scent have been incredibly vivid, and sometimes unsettling.
Same. The ones I’ve had with scent are usually unpleasant smells. I read somewhere that you’re not supposed to be able to smell in dreams. I know I do though.
The only time I have is if a real-life smell entered into the dream and wakes me up. (Usually involving some cat not covering things in the litter box….)
I was grey and raining today, to Chypre Mousse it had to be. Perfekt for fall.
It is that!
Like this. Reminds me of christmas, because I bought it during last year’s holiday season and I guess other people have a christmas connection to it, so that must have seeped into my consciousness! This reminds me that I have to check in with a friend re. Thanksgiving. Our state has come out with very clear holiday socializing guidelines/rules, and so we’ve been starting to plan a little.
I love Like This, must remember to pull it out for the holidays! Thanks for the reminder!
Nice pic!
SOTD = Puredistance M
From a decant! My earliest strong leather. I ended up with this decant when I mistakenly got in on a UK split on Basenotes (I was more careful afterwards). Nevertheless, it was a nice mistake. When Puredistance comes out with their promotion at some point, I am getting M and Rubikona.

In other news, Sephora VIB sale (for Rouge) starts tomorrow. Not sure if I will end up with a cart later today and trigger it at 12:01am or just take my chances later on ?.
I’m pretty sure I have a rant but it will have to wait…
My cart is loaded and ready to go. 😉
Looking forward to the rant.
+1 for the rant.
I don’t know that character in the picture, but he made me laugh ?
That mini figurine looks like an anime or manga character.
I’ve chosen Guerlain’s Neroli Outrenoir today. It’s become a real love, and I almost resisted buying it – I’m glad I gave in to temptation on that occasion!
I resisted it too, but eventually caved. 🙂
It’s hot here – and sneezing season for me so fragrances are being chosen on The basis of what I can tolerate. CDG’s Black is – somewhat surprisingly- a winner!
Yum, I love Black.
I was a bit surprised to see it categorised as a ‘Dry Woods’. Not dry at all to me? But then some things described as sweet DO seem dry to me!
Commando for the moment. Late to the split party but just listed a splitzies for Cartier VIII L’Heure Diaphane, if anyone is interested:).
Paris YSL as a comfort blanket against the world in general. To be honest I’m generally feeling fine, but covid does get me down sometimes. It’s wet and quite cold, but the views from my apartment are still stunning.
Enjoy those views! And covid is a bit sh** isn‘t it?
Oh gosh, yes!
It is and I fear it will be getting a lot worse still.
I think a good view makes so much difference, even if it is just a tree. I hope you have some good books to see you through – are you in lockdown again? Go well!
I’ve never had a view like this. I’m overlooking a valley with trees on the other side. And it has an old red brick steel factory which gives it a bit of grit. We seem to be slowly moving towards tighter measures but Luxemburg has it’s testing capacity very well sorted, do I will see.
I look across a valley too. I love it.
Oh that sounds lovely!
Paris is a fantastic antidote to anything…even Covid-induced melancholy. You smell fabulous!
Hang in there,we’re all in this s…tstorm together!!XO
I adore Paris, my oldest love. And alle things considered I’m doing well.
I think Covid gets everyone down, one way or another, sooner or later….?
i am quite tired but I dont want to give up on things (that will probably make me feel even more miserable). So I try to focus on small and easily achievable goals right now.
I wanted to clean out my whole study during my vacation, but I decided early on that cleaning my desk and couch will be enough. ?
I had my first Zoom meeting a few weeks ago and loathed it, it was do exhausting. So I get why you are so tired. Just not looking top dat ahead and trying to enjoy the little things.
Too far, stupid Dutch autocorrect ?
I guess it doesn’t bother me much because it was a daily part of my work life before COVID. There’s just more now. And I’m not at the office…
I get it. I’ve had those really “feeling low” moments over the past 7 months as well.
Wearing Fleurs de Citronierre – I’ve leave it to Austenfan to fix my French as the bottle is in the other room! An easy breasy perfume for a breezy day.
Just back from the graveyard and it was littered with condoms and condom packets – ugh. I picked them up (carefully, don’t worry) because no one else would and the foil wrappers and latex would stick around until the next century. Then I picked up about a dozen wine bottles. Ugh, again. But, I also heard a shining cuckoo – just arrived from the Pacific Islands – so there was a silver lining.
LIMES…it has been months since we’ve had limes in our supermarket (literally) but they were there today but cost $50 kg!! All the way from America.
What’s the deal with graveyards and hanky panky??
That’s really macabre…halloween season itch?
You smell fabulous though!??
People are discusting. I often wonder what the jerks of the world would do without the kind people that “pick up” after them?
That is odd, but glad they were being safe
Fleurs de citronniers. Always glad to be of service ?
My eye skipped over this comment earlier and I thought it had to do with FdC being a good scent for doing community work, ROTFL!
Merci!
Kudos to you for picking up that vile mess, people are so gross.
You smell lovely!
I was more outraged by the price of the limes, to tell the truth
Definitely icky, finding evidence of people getting freaky in the graveyard.
I’m wearing Gucci Rush and it makes me feel pretty dang cool! Lol
That’s all I got for a mundane day. Which is fine by me?
Gucci Rush is one of those “too cool to care” perfumes. It’s also a pretty good pick for Halloween.
Too cool to care is so not me, but I can pretend.
Is the current version good? I always thought the vintage would be in my baileywick, but have hesitated to get a new one.
Mine is roughly 5 years old. Smells the same as it ever did to me.
It was supposed to be back to spring like temps today, so I decided on Calyx by Prescriptives. This scent is so fun and ?. It reminds me of warm temperatures and sunny skies.
Calyx is one that occurred to me if I wanted to go “happy”! You smell lovely!
Feeling kind of crummy, I had a headache all last night and now feel kind of queasy. I may take a nap later. On the bright side, I had to get the car smogged and was prepared for a long wait, but there was no one there! In and out in five minutes. I’m wearing Cuir Cannage.
Been meaning to wear this one recently! I think it’s a good leather for hot weather too – has a mentholated feel for me? (I think it’s something to do with the orange blossom?)
You smell great, hope you feel better soon!
Adorable picture today Robin! Thanks for the smile.
As for this Thursday, well, it deserves a giant Bronx Cheer. I got an email from my cell phone service provider saying that my phone is old enough that it is not 5G compatible. And that it should be replaced to “avoid any disruption in service”. Um, guys, there is a reason why I have stuck with this phone for as long as I have. Bite me.
SOTD = the last of the mystery sample. It has now been thunked.
I’m also quite proud of squeezing the last life out of my hand-me-down phones 😀
I got my phone new back in 2004. The NSTers who have met me IRL have seen The Relic.
I hate being forced to ditch perfectly good items due to « obsolescence ». So much waste.
I knew that this day was going to come sooner or later. Just didn’t want to have to deal with it in the time of CV-19.
Lol at Bite me?
Glad the mystery sample is thunked. Do you have a “won’t try again” section of your sample stash or do you use them up even if you don’t care for them?
Oh, I definitely have a side stash of “Won’t Try Again” samples that I usually refer to as the “Give” pile. Someone else might like it…
The first comment that came to mind would have been disemvoweled by Robin, so I typed “Bite me” instead.
Disemvoweled — lol!
DH and I have “inherited” cell phones, too; his is from 2006. DH got a message like that about his, but we just keep using it. Mine is an iphone, and his is an LG flip phone. All we have seen is that sometimes our messages are delayed recently. But phone calls have been going through….we are going to take it to limit. Only if it just….fails….will we give in. We don’t have any dependants, so we can take a chance. 🙂
My phone is a Samsung with a slide-out keyboard. No dependents here, either, but I talk and text a lot with my brother, who lives 2 time zones away. I also don’t have a landline.
I had a similar phone and loved it. I only got a new one when it totally died. My new phone is 4 years old now. I’m really am not interested in getting a new one. The cost is ridiculous.
The only thing that I have had to do is replace the battery twice with my phone. It still works fine. Stupid 5G.
I adored slide out keyboards.
I started out in JM Myrrh & Tonka Cologne Intense, and applied Santa Eulalia Obscuro later in the day. Not a fan of either, so it’ll be Shalimar after my shower. I think I’ll like that one. ?
Smelling great in Shalimar! I almost wore it today too.
SOTD: No 19 EDT followed by some Safran Troublant later in the day.
Enjoy reading NST as I wind down in the evening, but haven’t been posting much. Feel very boring. Working 10-14 hour days during the week. Upside: I don’t feel guilty indulging my fragrance habit.
Boo on 10-14 hour workdays, I’ve had more of those this fall than I care to count. At least you smell wonderful! What’s wearing me down at work is that I haven’t been able to use many vacation days, there’s just too much that has to get done. Looking forward to two straight weeks off in December. I hope you get a break soon.
I was going to wear Chanel No. 5 for the CP, as it brings back many memories of my late mother, but some of those are melancholy memories of her last months (“My Mother’s Last Perfume”), and I don’t want to feel melancholy today; the weather and the plumbing repair estimate we just got are gloomy enough! So my SOTD will be one with happy memories, Anne Klein 2 (https://scentsandsensibilities.co/2019/10/06/scent-sample-sunday-anne-klein-ii-revisited/). It’s also a cozy, warm floriental, great for the fall. Happy early Halloween, everyone!
Just sticking in a thumb’s up here for wholly happy scents!
