It's Friday and the International Day of Non-Violence, but we're on the back roads by the rivers of my memory... Our community project for today: do what you like with the lyric from the 1968 song Gentle on My Mind. Thanks go to Mossyberry for the suggestion!
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I'm in Imaginary Authors Yesterday Haze, really just because the name seemed a good fit. I'm not sure I deserve any huge number of points but I do smell good.
Reminder: on 10/9 we're doing Beatlemania...celebrate John Lennon's birthday by naming your favorite Beatles or John Lennon song, and wear the perfume to match.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2020, where I'll try (but frequently fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Wearing Iris Torrefié while I pack boxes on this cool rainy day.
Hope your move goes smoothly cazaubon!
Thank you, I am feeling tense about all the breakables and overloading the car with books & perfume. 🙂
what do you think of this one? I am on the fence if I like it or not.
I like it a lot, but I can see why it might leave others indifferent. It is subtle.
Iris Torrefié: subtle is what I thought. I gave my split a full test drive (as in many spritzes) at a wedding. It was very lovely, but it seemed to turn into a skin scent. 3 days later, when I unpacked and hung my dress up, my room filled with the scent! I did not notice when I opened the suitcase, and nothing else picked up the scent. It had a little hint of Encens Mythique d’Orient drydown, and that same quality of coming and going.
Hope the packing goes well.
Good luck with the packing!
Have a good/smoothe move!
I hope the packing goes well. My dog was very interested in the whole process, so that made it a bit more interesting than the last time we moved.
Good luck with the move!
Good luck Cazaubon! I hope it all goes swimmingly.
Good luck with your move! I, too, only trusted my perfumes to personal car transport!
Good luck with packing and the move!
Good luck on the packing and the move!
I went with Caron Pour un Homme, because it has this gentle, dreamy lavender sweetness and something green and outdoorsy (reference to roads, travelling etc.).
I love that one. You smell nice!
Nice call!
Ages since I checked in. Today I’m wearing Ambre 114; fall is here. Hope everyone has a great weekend.
Fall is definitely here. Have a great weekend!?
waving hello…welcome back
You smell great. That one has a good amount of vanilla. 🙂
Ambre 114 is so beautiful and one of my favorite ambers. You smell great!
114 is just so good and easy to wear. You smell great. ?
I’m in SJP Lovely. I woke up way before my alarm and so I’m sure I’ll be dragging by the end of the day. Left for work in the dark and the moon was still in the sky. It looked huge! So beautiful.?
I had a similar experience yesterday, but with the sun. I’m in California, so sunsets have been crazy red with all of the smoke, and yesterday the sun looked like it was a million miles closer to earth than normal. Beautiful, and slightly scary.
Wow! Stay safe.
I wonder if it’s a harvest moon? IT was huge over San Francisco the other night.
I never even thought of that. I just googled and it WAS a harvest moon! No wonder!
You smell lovely 🙂 I saw the big gold moon as it was rising last night. So gorgeous.
Shalimar from my limited edition gorgeous bottle
Oh, you smell wonderful!
I am out of Shalimar, but wore Emeraude, it’s definitely related but a little different in the dry down.
It’s wonderful for a good night’s sleep though.
I agree. I actually prefer Emeraude to Shalimar, not sure why.
Fabulous 🙂
You smell wonderful.
Did you find the beautiful one? The one with the garden imprinted on the bottle?
I still haven’t found it here.
Yes..I had it special ordered for me.
Scentless and a bit stressed as I am going to the doc for a test this morning…trying to think happy, virtual-vanilla thoughts…glad it’s Friday.
Sending you vanilla hugs!
Good luck with the test!
Wishing you good luck!
Good luck!
She-ra, virtual vanilla thoughts being wafted your way from over here!
vanilla hugs
Sending good thoughts!
Good luck! Wrap yourself in a vanilla cocoon as soon as you get hone.
Best vanilla wishes, She-ra!
Hope the test will be ok / not invasive!
Hope all goes well, thinking of perfume should help 🙂
Thanks for all the well wishes.? Test didn’t find anything…what a relief!? Just sprayed on some Pacifica Island Vanilla.
Great news! Relax and enjoy the vanilla comfort.
Thank you, Laila. Vanilla was my comfort pre-Covid and I think it’s working double time now.♥️
Yay!
Thanks, Robin!
Good to hear! Hope that your weekend is nice and quiet.
Thank you, Jalapeno.
So glad to hear that nothing was picked up in your test she-ra! Hope you’re having a lovely and relaxing weekend.
Santa Maria Novella Colonia Russa, and a cup of Cardamom Ginger tea.
Cardamom and ginger – two delicious flavors.
obsessed with cardamom tea – good choice
For the project, I am wearing Muresque from DSH which is this incredible deep blackberry and wine scent that I want to roll around in, blissed out like a cat with catnip. Anyway the link to the project is that I used to live near a drawbridge which had a really long wait while tankers went through and one day I discovered blackberries growing wild in a lot near where I would wait.
And did you pick any of those blackberries to eat? We have lots of blackberries near our house and enjoyed several ice cream and blackberry desserts. Muresque sounds amazing – adding it to the “must sample” list.
Of course I ate some blackberries! Muresque is the current Heirloom limited edition so you’ll need to act before Nov 1st.
Thanks. I ordered a sample along with a sample of Robin’s scent from yesterday, Sweet Pine Tar.
Hope you like it!
A lemming whisper…
Happy blackberry memories here: there were many wild ones near my childhood home, and my Dad showed us how to pick and eat them. Not so many where I live now, but I do stop to eat a few if see a stand of them.
Oh, wild blackberries are a gift from heaven!
Nice! Always great to find a silver lining!
Lovely memory and your scent sounds wonderful, I will definitely get a sample. I love blackberries to eat – and to wear.
A sun-warmed, perfectly ripe berry is such a treat!
I love that memory. Growing up our neighbor, Mrs. Fox, had wild blackberry bushes in her yard and they had formidable thorns but tasty berries. 🙂 A good metaphor for life.
I am a fan of Glen Campbell’s music – I often find the lyrics to be so very poignant (I guess I should be crediting Jimmy Webb for that).
For the CP, I’m wearing Soivohle’s Orris Ochre. Several of Liz Zorn’s EdTs have a distinct “memory” vibe — they evoke a sensation of recalling something.
Another weird week coming to an end. Happy weekend, everybody!
This one was written by John Hartford, here he is singing it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2lhkm0Hwef4
Glad your weirdness is done with! For now!
?
Thanks for the link, Robin. What an interesting performance. I think “gurglin’, cracklin’ cauldron” Is one of my new favorite song phrases.
I had a weird week, too. Not a fan.
I’m wearing Rahele and enjoying a beautiful autumn day.
Wishing all of you a peaceful weekend!
have a peaceful weekend as well..
Thank you LTSG.
And in case you’re interested, I see that Persolaise has just published a review of Iris Torrefie on his website.

We are twins!
Hey there twin!
TGIF! Wearing Masque Milano Russian Tea. Nice and comfy and it matches the dark and cool day we have today.
Thanks for all the good wishes yesterday for my doggie Yei. He is under steroids treatment now. The ear inflammation will go away, but the hearing loss is a question mark. I hope the treatment works.
Happy Friday!
Hope your dog recovers fully. Your perfume must be lovely.
Thank you, Aurora!
I’m keeping my fingers crossed!
Thank you, Sistine!
Russian Tea is really good!
It is very nice, especially on cold weather!
Aww hope all goes well with your pup.
Thank you, Ringthing!
Hoping for the best.
Thank you Gaynor!
Eeek! I missed this! Wishing the best for your doggie.
Thank you! I hope he recovers his hearing!
Paws crossed for sweet Yei! I hope you have a restful weekend.
Thank you, Nancy! You too have a nice weekend!
Adding my good wishes for Yei, I missed your post yesterday.
Thank you, Laila! Hoping for the best.
One of my kitties had to be on steroids for a while earlier this year. It took a little time before I was any results. Hope they work for Yei!
Thank you, Jalapeno! It is good to hear steroids worked for your kitty. I hope they work for Yei too!
Ooops, should have been “was seeing any results” up there. Glad you understood what I typed anyway.
Hope he feels better soon!
Thank you!
Hope his hearing is ok!
Thank you! Hoping for the best!
Came up with a blank with the CP. Happy that after I get off work, I will have 2 days off. Just have to remember to schedule my last personal day of the year. All personal days have to be taken by Oct 31. I think it’s to prevent people from taking them on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Woke up in Cormandel but now in Givenchy III right now.
Is the personal day rule documented in a policy or is that the store manager’s preference? Unless your company’s year end is October 31st (which would be highly unusual but of course possible), it does not feel right to me.
It’s a documented rule. I might not agree with it, just have to follow it.
This is indeed true!
They are called blackout days after the 31st. They won’t approve any vac/ personal days. For me in runs through the first week of the year. That said, I’ve seen them bend the rules depending on how well we are staffed and for certain circumstances.
We’re always concerned about manager discretion and the optics of fair treatment – what makes someone’s circumstance eligible unless it’s one of the unexpected events for which you either have some other types of days and/or not anything you would plan ahead for and schedule.
I’ve seen it happen mostly with seasonal help, where they are so needed during the season that deals get made. Ex- you can have this time off if you work Christmas eve… established full timers are expected to be available and flexible.
I’m in POTL Luctor et Emergo. This one always makes me feel good, like the way the holidays feel (the good parts).
It’s also for memories of my beginnings as a down-the-rabbit-hole perfumista on makeupalley – way back in 2004; POTL was a huge cult fave. (I’d always liked and worn fragrance, but this was another level – or three).
I remember reading about it on MUA then. No chance of affording it at the time, so I always wondered what it smelled like.
Sistine, I’d be happy to send you a bit if you’d still like to try it. You can contact me by clicking on my screen name above which will take you to my gravatar page with email.
That’s so sweet! I had a chance to try it a few years ago and it’s lovely but didn’t quite resonate with me. Thanks so much for the offer, though!
You bet – everyone should try it once!
You smell wonderful! That’s a good choice for the CP.
😀
In case I forgot to mention it, I love my split of LeE. I have not sussed it out in just two trials, but it is beautiful.
Yay! It’s very unique.
I almost put that on this morning! Tomorrow then.
Tomorrow!
I’m in CB I Hate Perfume A Room with a View. It’s what inspired me to start raiding the old samples, because I thought it would work for the CP. The smell of hay, the thought of that movie, both seem to fit for me.
I need to get a bottle of this someday. So much on the wishlist for when the border opens up and I can get mail at my sister’s in Seattle again. I already have a bottle and the Tauer solid LAdDM there.
I hope you can see her soon. I’ve resigned myself to probably not being able to see my family in Canada until next fall, but I am not happy about it!
I would love to try some samples of the CB I Hate Perfume brand. There are several that intrigue me: The Holiday’s of Mr Hulot; A Room With a View to name two. I’m not aware of the brand being available anywhere in Europe though…
Yes — sadly I’ve never seen it in Europe. What I have from him I’ve ordered directly from his shop in New York.
I’m in Passage d’Enfer, which after wearing Kyoto and Avignon last week, is a rather inobtrusive incense. It works for the warm days that we are enjoying right now.
All of those are beautiful choices!
Oh – I really like passage d’enfer. So beautifully subtle insence.
I’m in Carthusia 1681 again today. The contemplative feel from the gentle lavender and herbs are definitely in keeping with today’s CP.
I like that one.
In the smoky and gently spicy – pepper I think – Vanori on one wrist, and Méchant Loup on the other for the CP, as the name takes me back to the fairy tales of my childhood and I hadn’t worn it in a while.
Mechant Loup is a fun name 🙂
? I think it’s the oddest of the l’Artisan Parfumeur’s names.
Fairy Tale fragrances might be a good idea for a CP!
Not sure I’m doing CP. Oeillet Bengale, which I bought at Aedes using a gift certificate from my husband. He’s actually the one who liked this scent. I wasn’t sure, but he really liked it. It has since become a favorite. (I’ve learned to trust his judgment. I get compliments on things he encourages me to buy…whether it’s shoes, scents, anything else.)
He sounds great! Can I borrow him the next time I need to shop?
And then me next. I could use that kind of help!
I’m wearing Sideris today because cazaubon mentioned it yesterday and reminded me how great it is. But it fits the CP because it reminds me of Greece and my husband’s Greek relatives.
Sideris is a beautiful name for a perfume. 🙂
Happy Friday all! My SOTD is Guerlain’s Aqua Allegoria Pamplelune, zippy citrus and patchouli for today’s warm weather.
I’m out of Shalimar, and have been enjoying Emeraude at night – glorious powdery goodness really does help with sleeping.
The air quality is awful in SF, there won’t be walking until at least Tuesday. I’ll have to reduce my toast consumption. I have to get my car smogged and pick up Smokey’s RX cat food but then it’s right back home and the comfort of my air filter.
I started reading the Brother’s K – will let you know how I enjoy it!
Everyone have a wonderful Friday!
ST–The Brothers K is one of my top 10 books ever (or thereabouts, it is so hard to narrow the loved ones down), and I read a lot. I hope you enjoy it! I might join you in Pamplelune, I have not worn it in a while.
yikes, sorry about the air. I was thinking of you and SF friends last night, wondering if it’s ok now, or if it depends on which way the wind blows.
Thanks Tiffanie, the air quality is horrific. It was 161 AQI and 78 degrees. We don’t have air conditioning so….
I think it will begin to improve by Monday/Tuesday…
Sorry about your walking. Must be very difficult.
Ugh! Sorry to hear that your AQI is so horrible. Have you considered using Chewy.com for your kitty’s prescription food? That’s what my vet recommended I use.
Hi Jalapeno, Thanks! I’ll give it a try. Smokey needs special wet food for struvite crystals. I’ll look it up!
Thanks so much!
Hope the air gets better…hang in there!
Happy Friday everyone!
Came back home to a bounty of perfume to unpack. Eau Capitale from a swapmeet, Laboratorio Olfattivo Mandarino from a split and a preview of Puredistance Rubikona.
My nose will be busy this weekend ??
Meanwhile I’m in Agar Ebene today.
yes to Hermes(sences)! You smell glorious. 🙂
I had a fleeting sniff of Agar Ebene last year, it seemed very nice, I must look to see if any of the decant sites have it.
Woo hoo!
I came home last night to very distressing mail. I couldn’t sleep at all, I’m so upset ( nobody died)
Things are just really up in the air right now, and there is more mail to follow.
I put on And the World is Yours from the purse stash. I wasn’t going to post, but I ❤ you guys too much to stay away.?
Oh Lillyjo, I am so sorry. Hoping things resolve favorably for you. (((Hugs)))
Thanks, I’m going to channel all these good wishes.
That sounds awful, I can only send you hugs.
Hug received!
Sorry about the email and the sleepless night! I remember I had that when I first found out my job/career had gone “pouf”. A few months later, I can see how that change was perhaps good for me. But in the beginning – no fun! Hope you’ll get better sleep tonight!
Thank you.
Lillyjo, sorry about the distressing mail, with your health scare ad now this, it hasn’t been a good week. Hope there is better news around the corner for you?
It’s been pretty crappy, for sure. The rabbits can start working any time now.
hang in here, lillyjo!
I’m sorry about all the distress.
We love you, too.
?
Hoping you soon find the way forward, Lillyjo! I hope you can take a nap or get quiet time while you wait.
Thank you.
So sorry so much stress! Gahh! Thinking of you.
Thanks OF.
I’m sorry to read this, I hope things work out.
Thank you.
So sorry for the upsetting news. Sometimes, it’s better to communicate voice to voice but then the other person may not be up to it…
The other person is a place. I am going to call Monday morning before work and hopefully I will get through to a human being, and double hopefully will at least try to help me.
I had to work early this morning, so I couldn’t today.
I am so sorry for the bad news. Sending positive vibes!
Thanks pl67.
I’m sorry to hear life is difficult now; I hope next week is better for you. Sending a big hug.
Thank you Laila
Dang it, life issues need to leave you be for awhile. I’m sorry things are so stressful right now.
Thank you.
I’m late again today. Just having bad sleep disruption and weird dreams and then fatigue. Our weather at least is gorgeous. I’m wearing OJ Woman because I feel it is very green and that went with the back roads in the song. Somehow.
Sorry, posted in the wrong place, that’s because I’m so tired.
I hope you can rest tonight.
Really sorry lillyjo, and hope you get it worked it.
Thanks Robin.
Boo! Hiss! And a pox on your bad news. I hope that you will get some rest tonight, and get things sorted out soon. Hugs.
I wish I was better at poxing!
But the world needs nice people in it, too!
Bug hugs, lillyjo. We are here for you.
I’m sorry to hear that lillyjo – I hope things get better. Big hugs to you!
xoxo
=^.^=
Sorry about your distressing mail lillyjo?, we ❤️ you too!
Hugs for you lillyjo ?
You do smell good Robin, we are house twins today but I broke out Memories of a Trespasser because I was lonesome for the scent and also because of the name for the CP. It makes me think of bonfires and leaves burning and some hot yummy beverage with vanilla.
My local soap shop made Pumpkin Spice and Apple Cider soaps this year and they sold out so fast they pushed out another batch but you have to promise to let it set and finish curing by about 10/20 before you use it. I’m looking forward to using both but in the meantime my house smells wonderful! Happy weekend all ?
Your soap shop sounds divine. I’m a closet soap sniffer, heh heh. I have a few handmade bars in my bathroom closet that I may never use because they smell so good!
It’s a small local business I want to support but we only have one bathroom in our little house so I do the same thing, tiffanie, buy and store soap to huff it lol. I do use it though, my dry skin likes it.
Good call!
I did not know soap had to cure. I wonder what happens if you use it early.
Sometimes if soap isn’t cured, it isn’t a solid. And that gets messy quickly!
Sample of Bois d’Ombrie drained. There are many lovely bottles in my drawer and on top of my drawer. Do I really need a bottle of this? (yes!yes!yes!NO,NO,NO). Happy Friday.
hahahaha! too much is never enough. 😉
Both in bottles and individual spritzes!!! I’m lingering near Donatella’s cabinet, but I only had nerve to anonymously vote…
Resistance is futile
LOL, perfumed fiend!
SotD = vintage splash L’air du Temps EdT
This perfume wafts gently on my mind every time I wear it. It’s precious to me. It came to me as a thoughtful gift from a perfumista who was letting go of most of her collection.
And I’ve shared before that my mum wore LdT when I was growing up. She still has an old bottle she doesn’t wear, but she does like to spritz it into the air when she does her hair and puts on her make up as she readies herself for the day. The smell of hairspray and face powder and LdT are mixed up in my memory.
Dear people of the perfume, I hope your Friday holds something fabulous in store. 🙂
That is very special – a perfumed gift!
I love reading this 🙂 my mother has been a serial monogamist but L’air du Temps is what she’s worn the longest and most often and is the scent that most reminds me of her.
aw, I’m glad we share this mom memory!
but wait, perfume monogamy?
does not compute 😉
I love this memory!
🙂 thank u, hajusuuri!
Nice LdT memory!
thanks, Laila! perfume is memory 🙂
It’s funny, I know what the LdT bottle looks like, but I don’t think I ever smelled it back in the day.
(whispers) it’s not too hard to find the little vintage splash bottles of L’air du Temps EdT . . . just sayin’ in case, you know, well anyway, ahem 😉
I’m wearing Ortigia Sicilia Ambra Nera, because it will always be gentle on my mind as the scent that sent me down, down, down the rabbit hole. While at a B&B in 2012, I noticed and tried a shampoo sample because it was decorated with attractive leopards. It lingered sweetly in my hair and I had to know if I could get it online. I then found blogs and blog rolls (I am not computer friendly and was kinda creeped-out by the internet), and learned what a fun gang of perfume-obsessed people are out there. Only last year did I finally get a bottle of Ambra Nera epd! (lost an auction once) Oh, but I did find about 130 other perfumes I love in the meantime. 😀
You smell glorious, utterly glorious!
??
Ortigia has such fun packaging, that is cool that it’s what hooked you.
Yes, and as all great hobbies, perfume interest teaches us history, geography, literature, and art. I like the novel The Leopard and this perfume tied in. BTW it seems the perfume hobby does not help us with math so much?
Friday.
1) This has been a very long year this week.
2) Am in a combo of Organic Pharmacy Dry Vanilla Oil and Lust’s Breath of God. Not a memory per se but a feeling of a memory, of deep peace.
3) Looking forward to my end of day bike ride.
With you on #1, and hope it was a good bike ride!
I’ve chosen Mitsouko for the CP. It’s not that it really brings back memories, I tried it for the first time only 10 years ago, but I have read so much about its history and the memories that it evokes for others that I feel as if I’ve known it forever 🙂
Mitsouko is wonderful!
Mitsouko does have a sense of gravitas about it.
In Sana Jardin Tiger by her Side from a sample from the swapmeet. Very enjoyable. About to hop into the shower with some Lush Roasting Chestnuts by an open Fire.
Have a good weekend everyone!
An all around scented evening.
Have a great we too.
OH, how is the shower gel?
Smells a lot like marzipane aroma with extra something and you definelty get the toasting / roasting aspect and warmth. I like it 🙂 As it’s bright orange it looks briefly like you are getting a tan before it washes away. Like most lush products, it has a sense of humour and likes a bit of fun.
SOTD = De Gabor Darling
Had I not been following @olyabar (whom I had also met in person at last October’s Sniffapalooza), I would not have known about this line. I bought a discovery set and chose Darling, with its vintage vibe boozy milky fruity gourmand take on sandalwood. I will count myself on theme due to the vintage vibes!

In other news, if eyes can be the window to one’s thoughts, I must be really transparent. The scene: Target. Thinking that I was going to be buying more stuff than I actually ended up with (how rare is this?), I was hobbled by the giant cart versus me being able to nimbly zip around the store. Anyway, I was by the bath towels section and two of us happened to arrive at an aisle at the same time. Now, one must wear masks and since both of us were wearing them correctly, she must have sensed my death ray eyes because she quickly picked up a towel and was about to take her time to fold it properly on top of her other stuff before quickly abandoning that thought and backing up with a parting shot of “Geez, you couldn’t wait 5 minutes?”. I haven’t said one word and besides, anything longer than 30 seconds would have made me apoplectic. I know why she was b-tchy – she had on a mini-skirt so tight she was only able to take shuffling baby steps and turn her entire body via these baby steps. And she had BRF. ???
Some people have what I call “The Concrete Splitting Look”. The most memorable occasion I saw it was up in NYC. A police officer was directing traffic at an intersection, and a motorist with poor judgement had the temerity to honk at her. The look she gave the honker was VERY expressive!
I wouldn’t have wanted to be on the receiving end of THAT!
Me neither!
Well, and NYC cops are rather famous for giving those ‘looks’.
Wait 5 minutes? That seems like a long time to ask someone to wait.
Yes! Clearly, the tight skirt affected the oxygen getting to the brain.
?
I often refer to a book of days (365 Days of Walking the Red Road by Terri Jean) for inspirational quotes by and historical facts about Native Americans.
A recent entry featured a speech given by Keokuk, a Sauk tribal leader, in 1833 when his people were told they would have to relocate west of the Mississippi to a reservation. He speaks sorrowfully of leaving the land where they had lived for ‘many moons and sunny days’ and travel ‘beyond a great river’ to an unknown land. Yet he offers to welcome the white man in peace should they choose to visit in their new land.
A brief quote several days later by Brave Buffalo, a Teton Sioux, tells us the horse is the most valuable piece of property an Indian owns, without which he could not go on a long journey.
To honor them in my daily life, I try to take care of Mother Earth and to live in balance with Her. And so, for today’s cp, I honor Keokuk and his people’s memories and their heritage with one of my favorite fall fragrances, Dame Perfumery Dark Horse.
And on this Day of International Non-Violence, just as Keokuk did, I wish you Peace.
Peace to you, Laila.
Be safe and be well Laila.
I’m actually wearing the same perfume for this week’s CP as I did for last week’s – Dryad! The overdose of moss on my skin fits the “back roads by the rivers” part. I kind of skipped over the memory aspect, but I’m ok with that. And thunked my little decant. I’ve got another waiting in the wings.
I’m so ready for the weekend. I’ve been plagued by terrible headaches and sinus pressure all week. It’s that time of year. My work stress and staring at computer screens all day isn’t helping. Planning to be outdoors a bunch this weekend.
Hope you have a stress-Free and headache-Free weekend.
Fingers crossed that the weather gives your sinuses a break soon!
Hope you feel better and enjoy yourself all weekend.
I hope the sinus headaches go away soon!
NV’s Rahele, in memory of one of my more successful shopping trips to Antwerp. I used to go there all the time and now I haven’t been in months.
So in a way it’s a good reminder of pre-covid times. And perfume bargains, as I got it at half price and was introduced to the Akro line during that very same visit.
Good memories for sure!
I’m wearing Une Rose Chypree because I haven’t worn it in ages.
You smell great! One of my favorites from Tauer.
Ooooh, love that one. You smell great!
Good pick for cooler fall weather.
Thanks for all your kind words yesterday! So far so good back home — I understand the power and phone line infrastructure is burned up near our town, so things might wonky for a while. Rumour has it that we might be allowed back in on Monday if nothing goes awry between now and then. Opportunity exists for things to go awry this afternoon and tonight but I have great faith in my firefighter colleagues! <3
Meanwhile, I'm evacuated with all my best frocks and my Theorema and Lyric and various other fancies, but I don't feel like I can stomach fragrance at present (plus, my dad is the kind of person to yell, "What's that *smell*? Is that something *you* put on??" with less-than-thrilled expression, so we'll spare his nose since he's so kindly feeding and housing us!)
Missed your post yesterday but fingers crossed things get better in your area soon and you can return safely.
Hope your evacuation ends soon, and your home is there for you when you return. What a year!
Hope you can go home soon. I feel so bad for everyone who has to evacuate.
Oh wow, wishing you well!
Hoping all your goods and your neighbors and theirs are safe. I can relate to your experience with your dear Father’s comments – think my Dad only liked perfume if my Mother was wearing it. <3
This was one of those Community Projects where I knew right away what perfume I was going to pick. I went for something that is roughly the same age as the song.
SOTD = Chamade EdT, from the sample stash. Sometimes things from the same era are a perfect match.
Is your sample vintage or more newish? Last year I found a good deal on Chamade, but I didn’t get it.
I have no clue. I got it a while back from one of the decanters, and it didn’t mention anything about vintage.
That’s a great way to interpret the project!
Thank you! ?
Having just recently acquired a bee bottle of Chamade, and impulsively followed up with vintage edt, I agree Chamade is a period match – and shout out – my 2018 bee bottle is wonderful stuff.
Lord, what a week. I had Monday and Tuesday off and the week was still a killer.
The kindest thing I can say about that song is that, looking back, it’s amazing how people were happy with so little in the 1970s. (I know it’s a 60s song technically, but – having failed to recognise the name – I only had to read the lyrics and I remembered it on radio rotation in the 70s). I can neither explain it nor justify it, but a lot of early-to-mid seventies stuff (music, clothes, interior design) gives me the heebie-jeebies and makes me feel almost nauseous. Maybe it’s some suppressed childhood memory? It can damn well stay suppressed, anyway.
My perfume today is equally nondescript (but not as long lasting) so I can’t be bothered to check its name.
A weekend of administrative tedium awaits. I hope y’all fare better. :^D
I miss the seventies, but concede that alot of it stunk, even some of the perfume.
Late to post today, I’ve been sailing the inter webs. JM Vetiver & Golden Vanilla today. Another one I’d wear if it fell in my lap, but it doesn’t get a place on the buy list.
Happy Friday night, everyone!
Happy Friday!
Nice to try something that doesn’t land on the “To Buy” list sometimes!
