It's Monday, plus International Day of Peace and World Gratitude Day. Birthdays today: H.G. Wells, Leonard Cohen, Bill Murray. The swapmeet is still on, and the freebiemeet is coming up on Saturday. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm still groggy from oversleeping, in Kenzo Air.
Reminder: 9/25 is National Comic Book Day...name a favorite comic book character, and wear the fragrance that suits him or her.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2020, where I'll try (but frequently fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: top image is Chadwick Boseman as the Black Panther in the 2018 film of the same name. Boseman passed away in August.
9/25: National Comic Book Day…name a favorite comic book character, and wear the fragrance that suits him or her.
Comic book characters are not exactly my area of expertise. But it is a fun idea, so maybe I will research and think of something later this week. In the meantime I will try to link my current SOTD (chosen before I learned the theme) with this CP.
So I am wearing Patou Joy, and as I just found out there is a character called Joy Mercado in Spider Man. Never heard of her, but her name fits.
https://comicvine.gamespot.com/joy-mercado/4005-15268/
I do not know what comic book people include as a comic book, but I was thinking this would include comic strips…maybe I will have to wait to be disabused on this subject? I was thinking of doing something with Calvin & Hobbes.
In my opinion, comic strips qualify. I thought of Japanese manga, but it looks like this day is about American (or at least American style) comics.
The only comics I read are the short ones (kind of like jokes with pictures), not the series, so they do not have recurring characters.
I like “Off the mark” – https://www.facebook.com/offthemarkcomic/posts/10157876486831867
I’m a Marvel and DC comics junkie! Today’s outfit: I went for the nerdy comic look! LOL
https://www.instagram.com/p/CFZ2UDPh2pT/
As a real iron woman you are going to show us how it is done then. ?
Oh excellent!!
I’m wearing Baume du Doge for the first time, from a new decant. It’s love so far. Let’s see what the drydown brings.
Oh, you smell great PriscillaE. I would love to have a bottle of Baume du Doge.
You smell marvelous- that was one of the very first samples I ever smelled! It left quite and impression on me. It’s complex.
I hope you continue to love your decant.
You smell great, I love Baume du Doge.
Dune. Seemed like a good pick for a sunny morning. I don’t know if I’ve actually read a comic book? this cp will be a challenge for me.
Happy Birthday to Bill Murray. Man, I love him. I don’t think there’s anything I’ve seen him in that I didn’t like…
I’m off this week now til Saturday and it’s the last week of my class that I detest. One more paper to go! Hoping the next class will be more enjoyable.
Turns out Dune is an official comic book from Marvel!
Enjoy your vacation. When does the new job start?
❤Bill Murray too!
Lol, I’m covered then! And I smell great.?
I start the new job the end of October and also work my current job Halloween weekend (for insurance coverage), so that week is gonna kind of suck, but it will be worth it!
I’m with you on loving Bill Murray.
Congratulations on the upcoming changes to your job. One challenging week is tolerable for the better situation going forward.
Good luck with that last paper! You can do it!
Congrats MTG! I’m so happy for you!
My husband saw him exiting the Serge Lutens Palais Royal boutique years ago. Not sure if he was shopping for himself or someone else, but how cool is that!
Very!
Good morning Y’all,
Projecting a bit too loud in M by Mariah Carey…..LOL Marshmallows and incense are totally working for me on this chilly morning!
SMELLY REPORT from the Perfume Counter: Well, my oldest and I drove into Atlanta to do some serious perfume sniffin’ on Saturday, and what a BUMMER! Only a SA can touch the testers, so we could only test a few things. No paper strips, no freedom to sniff and enjoy. Oh well…first world problem I guess, but just disappointing since we only get to the city once or twice a year. Anyhoo, she did buy her Jo Malone Poppy and Barley, and I bought a bottle of Kiehl’s Musk and a bag full of happiness from Lush, so it was still a good day! 🙂
That sounds like at least a successful trip with the bottles you purchased! I love Kiehl’s Musk oil, have worn it for years. The lotion is also quite nice, I get a lot of LOV from it.
The SA told me that quite often she sells a customer 2 bottles of Kiehl’s at a time…it’s a cult fave! It’s really good! I will try the oil next time for sure….
It’s really interesting! I get more LOV from the lotion and spray, more musk from the perfume oil (I love them all though). It’s quite the shape shifter!
Ok…I can’t figure out what LOV is….help a gal out! LOL
Lily of the valley, right?
Oops, sorry, yes it’s lily of the Valley. Sorry about that!
Kiehl’s Musk is fabulous. It’s skanky without being over the top skanky.
That’s what I think, just that whiff of skank, but crisp and pretty in the meantime. I am not a true musk fan but I blind bought Kiehl’s on an Ebay auction discount and I was surprised at its prettiness. It and Clair de Musc may be all the musk I need.
You get an enabler pin from me! I picked up M last week on your recommendation. Smells great and priced great ?
I love it! I have the lotion too, and it’s really nice. It’s always worth sniffing the cheaper ‘fumes, because every now and then there’s a real gem among ’em! 🙂
Interesting about M, thank you. Hoping your next visit to town will be more satisfying, some duty-free shops had their testers out for shoppers with no restriction (just hand sanitizer) others not.
You’ll be able to find M at Walmart pretty soon I’m guessing….they usually have nice gift sets with lotion for Christmas for $19.95! Hard to beat that price…
Oh, is it really incensey Lillyjo? Marshmallow scares me a little bit if it’s really sweet but I love incense.
I actually get more incense than marshmallow. It has a nice depth to it. Also it’s not smokey, which I like. Smells cozy.
Thank you! It goes on the list. I can recommend Weil Essence Suki for a sweet, non-smoky incense too.
LOL. I thought I was the only one on this board that wore M. I’ve had my FB forever, or seems it to me; you don’t really need a lot of squirts with that one.
Hi all, my SOTD is Chanel’s Chance EDP. The iris & Patchouli just feels right for this cool/foggy morning. 🙂
About to head out for my morning walk. I overindulged this weekend and need to walk it off! Happy Monday everyone!
Happy Monday
That’s a good one! I didn’t realize it has iris
I wasn’t a big comic book reader either – the first (and so far only) one that comes to mind is Archie. I think Veronica would have worn something dramatic and completely age-inappropriate, and Betty would have worn something like the Cristalle EDT that is my SOTD … so I’m accidentally CP compliant. 🙂
There was a time when I read quite a bit of Archie. Was trying to remember what other comic books we liked but that was the only one that came to mind.
I read Archie along with Josie and the Pussycats.
I remember watching “Josie and the Pussycats” on Saturday morning cartoons!
OH right…I have to look those up, I can’t visualize it but I am sure I read that too.
Today will be my first day back at work after vacation and not looking forward to going back. I managed to use up 3 candles while on vacation and now I am down to 35 and a half candles. That half candle should be finished up by Friday or Saturday. The good thing about vacation is that I can finish multiple candles in a single week. Woke up in Theorema and probably wear no 5 for my first day back.
well done for working through the candles!
I share your ‘not going back’ mood.
I am wearing Chanel 1957 and drinking a cup of Wild Pu’erh tea.
Can Pu’erh be wild? I don’t get it!
It was a gift from my son and daughter-in-law . I have to admit that I really don’t know that much about this tea. It is very delicious though ☺?
Hi all!
I don’t think I’m going to do very well with this week’s poll. I don’t know much about comic books sadly. Today I’m in Paprika Brasil, a solid favorite of the Hermessences. This is my second bottle.
Baked my first loaf of sourdough in about three weeks last night. It was so good I could hardly wait for it to cool before cutting in. I’m going to have dinner gorgeous today with eggs for breakfast. ?
Stay safe everyone.
Nothing better than sourdough with a bowl of good soup….YUM!!!!!!
Yum!
I also did some baking, a made a rose ? cake with rose frosting. Perfect with a cup of tea. Kids and my other half devoured half the cake
Rose cake sounds so beautiful!
Oooh, that rose cake sounds fabulous!
Coumarin do a comic strip! Or anything, you know we are not picky.
Shalimar
Cup of green tea, 2 pieces of olive bread toast with a slice of tomato and a slice of Spanish chorizo for breakfast.
Finishing up a trilogy called captive prince, it was a fast read didn’t have to use my ?
Olive bread – YUM.
My FIL used to make olive bread. It was soooo good.
This project was made for She-Ra!
I don’t know if I can do a whole week, but today I am wearing TF Metallique and matching it with The X-Men character Storm.
I really need to clean my house today. So far.. so not so good, lol. Does anyone have a recommendation for a good mop? I was thinking of trying the Swiffer wet jet, because I’m sick of my regular mop and bucket.
We use swiffer but the wet cloth
Courage, I bet you smell great, reward yourself when you have done a little bit of cleaning – so sorry, being in the UK I can’t offer advice on mops.
Swiffer is a good one. Especially for laminate floors.
Lillyjo, I am so with you. I loathe cleaning. It makes me feel like Sisyphus, rolling that boulder around, getting squashed every time. I love a clean house, just hate doing it. That said, Swiffer wet cloths work well, and I could not live without Swiffer dusters.
I always feel good after cleaning but I hate to get started. It just seems like it’s never done!
Cleaning IS never done! That’s entropy for you.
I tried sponge mops and buckets for a long time, then I got on the Swiffer wet clothes train and never looked back. I just have to keep the curious kitties out of the kitchen for 10 minutes or so!
I think I will give it a try.
I use the Bissell steam mop, works great.
Layered a tiny bit of Zoologist Hyrax under Yosh Sottile today, a study in contrasts as both have rose but Hyrax is ANYTHING but subtle, cool and clean. I’m loving the combo.
DC comics apparently has an eco-terrorist character named Veronica Dale, alias Hyrax. I think it’s a perfect match.
Coffee and bacon-mushroom-cheddar quiche this morning. Parbaking pie crusts is the devil’s work, but I managed to salvage one of two attempts yesterday and the quiche turned out fine.
Hmm, I have clearly missed some Zoologist releases. Ah well, I just looked up the animal and it’s very cute, and then I looked up the scent and it sounds fantastic but absolutely not the kind of thing to blind buy.
Your quiche sounds tasty! What goes wrong when you parbake pie crusts? (Do you mean blind baking, or is parbaking it something else?)
Hyrax is DEFINITELY not a blind buy! I like it in small doses. I have a sample currently and would at best consider a travel bottle once it’s gone, I’d never get through a FB. Bee and Musk Deer are on my FB wishlist.
I always get too much shrinkage of my pie crusts when blind baking (yes, same as par bake). I think I maybe wasn’t giving the dough enough rest time before baking?
My second try I popped the crust into the freezer for 10 min first and it did way better… Then I accidentally tipped it over and the whole crust flopped out of the pie pan onto the counter ? like I said, salvaged it, but that was a very undignified moment!
At least it didn’t flop onto the floor!
Oh for sure! I was laughing at myself a LOT but it was the last of the dough so I got very lucky!
I find cold pastry dough holds its shape far better during blind baking, so sticking it in the freezer is a good call. I usually refrigerate for half an hour to avoid freezing the butter, but if you’re careful to not forget it in there, I would think it would be fine for a little freezer time!
Hedonist Cassis today for me. I bought the 3 bottle travel set because my niece loved the hedonist. She got that one and I kept the rose and cassis. I love that size too, I don’t need huge bottles, I have so many I will never use up. I am liking it a lot.
Where did you get your travel set? Mine came from Luckyscent and it had the original Hedonist and the iris one and Cassis one. Iris was too generic to my nose but really enjoyed cassis.
I’m wearing Stevie, from my new Smell Bent sample package. From their website, this is a “bohemian gourmand” with notes of apricot, almond, patchouli essence, orris, vanilla absolute and sandalwood. Lovely so far, though I am hoping the patchouli calms down a little.
That does sound nice!
4160 Tuesdays Rhubarb & Custard today…sweet yet tart.
Wow, that made me hungry.
Good morning all, we had a Real Movie Night last night where we made an enooooormous bowl of popcorn for dinner (for dinner! because we are adults! and if we want to, we can eat popcorn for dinner!) and then watched Harry Potter 1 in its entirety. As a result, we didn’t get to bed until ~12:30am, which is about an hour later than usual for a weeknight (not to mention, I do NOT recommend having that much salt for dinner). So I now, at 9am, feel as groggy and disoriented as I usually feel at 7am.
To keep myself afloat, I am wearing Aftelier Ancient Resins from a little decant a kind NSTer once sent me, which I then packed away for my move a YEAR ago and didn’t see again until this weekend as I was reorganizing my closet in a fit of insanity.
What fun! I love those movies.
And at least you didn’t stay up all night binging the series, right?
No, no. We will just have to have movie nights for two months 🙂
Aftelier Ancient Resins: thanks for the reminder!
SOTD = Zoologist Nightingale

Pink juice and it has a VA-VA-VOOM vibe ?. I got it on a swap with an IG person. Out first encounter was from when he sent me samples I ordered from a NZ company. I had a suspicion that the NZ perfumer / owner flat out LIED when she said ? but I mailed them right after you ordered them ( follow-up #1, which was 4 weeks after I placed my order). 2nd follow-up 3 weeks later, same ? and lie. Finally, she said her U.S. connection will mail them to me, which he did. Bottom line, I think the NZ perfumer is unscrupulous. If I wanted to, I could trash-talk the samples – they were bad.
I have to think about the CP! Like a number of people here, Archie comes to mind! It reminds me of my Dad so maybe I’ll work that angle!
I’m pondering on comics, too. I think I have a few ideas percolating…
I’ve percolated a few ideas too!
Just a clarification – the person with whom I swapped is a good person; the NZ perfumer – rotten.
Heat doesn’t come on in our apt. until Oct so I’m in layers and warm socks as it’s really cold in here (and therefore must be as well outside)!
Summer!!! Come back!
Kettle is on for more hot tea.
SOTD: Couleur Vanille
Maybe if we yell loud enough, summer will listen! I turned my heat to 65. So far though, it’s “only” dropped to 66 in the house, so the heater hasn’t officially kicked on yet.
? Nooooo ?. Whispering is fine ?. I love the cooler weather. I turned off my A/C on Thursday night and just have the fan on. I will wait until the very last minute to turn on the heat.
Whispering is fine. Oh my gosh, you made me laugh ?
Good thing since I will be crying come winter.
By the time you dry your tears, winter will be over keeping ?
Mine is set at 66, and the heat has come on the last few mornings. (Having an old stone house helps, ha.)
Heh…we don’t have heat in our apartment. We got tired of wearing T-shirts all winter, so turned off the valve. We have good insulation. though. It is chilly out there all of a sudden. Makes me happy,
I’ve had apartments like that! The ambient heat from neighbors was enough.
Another gorgeous early fall day. Wearing Vanille Tonka because I thought it was Patchouli Intense, I’ll switch later on but am enjoying VT right now.
My news is that Larry the cat has killed a mouse three nights in a row ? I haven’t seen any signs of mice but obviously Larry knows where to hunt. He takes them into the bathtub, plays with them and then eats them….we’ve decided “Eviscerated Mouse” isn’t a bad band name but we are tired and grossed out cleaning the tub. Having a 120 year old house means mice coming in during colder weather but this is pretty early in the season.
Eww. Reminded me of a time long ago, back when I had a cat and a cat-door-flap arrangement, and one night, after she’d been out carousing after mice and other critters, another cat followed her through the cat-door and on into our bedroom, and started a fight with my cat under the waterbed. Loud caterwauling and fears of flooding ensued. Ah, fun times. 😉
???
Your cat loves you. My parents had a cat (brought home by me, but promptly palmed off on them) that left them the mice livers on their pillows in a sort of “see how cute and generous I am” way.
That’s my biggest worry, I’m grateful that he kills them in the bathtub because I could just as easily imagine him bringing a partial mouse onto the bed *shudder*
I woke up one morning when the cat sat on my chest. When I opened my eyes, he dropped a dead mouse on me. I’ve never gotten out of bed so fast!
He did look very proud of himself. 🙂
Ugh! What a “kind” kitty!
LOL! Kitties are never quite tame.
Oh dear, the ‘joys’ of cat ownership.
I’ve been toying with the idea of getting a cat. I’m putting this story in the con column, lol
If you get a cat, remember that you will have to clean up hairballs and barf, too. I love my cats dearly, but I grumble sometimes about that task.
Oh I remember. I had 2 cats years ago. After they were gone, I swore I would never have another animal because it was so heartbreaking when I lost them. Just lately though, I’ve been thinking about it.
I’ve discovered that however heartbreaking it is to say that final goodbye to a beloved pet, not having any is even worse.
My small dog barfed on me at 4am the other day. She gets hairballs too…
No, it’s a pro! He was hired to kill mice yet be cute and he manages it pretty well.
You can always get kittehs like my Billy Bob 2.0, Grey Skye and Blue Skye. They are guaranteed not to bring in mice or any critters as trophy.
My mom used to have a cat named Piggy (short for Piglet) who caught little ground squirrels outside. There were so many and they dug very treacherous holes in the yard. Mom was glad Piggy was on patrol, and never brought them inside. Once however she came in the back door and Mom screamed, “There’s something wrong with Piggy!” I bent down to have a look and her eyes were sealed shut with goopy material and she was shaking. Then I realized she absolutely stank. Piggy had tangled with a skunk! You can’t imagine how awful it was giving that very mean cat a bath that night. Ugh.
Started a new week with Winter Palace.
Dragon is my mighty protector today.
I did read comics as a kid especially the JCL ones with Batman, Superman, Supergirl, The Flash, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern. I was up on all of them. I suppose my favorite was Batman. I guess we all know what perfume he would wear, lol!
We’re getting a lot of rain here with more predicted from Tropical Storm Beta. How undignified that he lacks a real name. Must not be a real storm. Oh but then the rain, storm surge, and flooding in Galveston. I think it’s supposed to be intermittent enough here that it shouldn’t flood, and I don’t have to go anywhere anyway.
What perfume would Batman wear? I do not know! I remember BobH’s lego Batman wore Dark Rebel with “Rebel” changed to “Knight” .:)
And you actually gave me an idea for a CP-related perfume.
It really just means we’ve had more than our fair share of storms!
I loved the original Batman show but never read the comic books.
I don’t know what perfume he would wear, either!
BAT!!
Right?!
I mostly read and commented these past few days but today back to listing sotd, I am wearing vintage Lanvin Arpège edp, I don’t know why I choose No 5 more often, because Arpège is great today.
It’s time for dinner, if I was back in Provence I would just have fresh organic tomatoes and goat cheese (sigh).
Oh that sounds delicious! And you smell wonderful in vintage Arpege ?
I hope you can go to Drôme Provençal to experience it?.
Thank you very much. You know in the case of vintage Arpège the drydown of the edp is much more sandalwoody than the edt (I have both).
If I didn’t have to feed other people, I could live off of tomatoes and cheese… and bread. . When I want to treat myself I go to the mediterranean store and buy cheese from there.
Oh, how lucky ??, if I had a mediterranean store I would do the same. There are some British goat cheese quite good of its kind but it’s just not the same.
Vintage Arpege is gorgeous!
It is indeed Petunia, less No 5 more Arpège from now on.
Hello fragrant friends- work has been too busy and I miss NST!
I used to love the Archie comics growing up. Their sensibility would be hopelessly dated now. I wonder if they had a re-do.
For lovers of Ethiopian food – I successfully made doro wot in my Instapot following a recipe from ministry of curry. Not only that but I successfully made Injera bread following a Kroger recipe! Mind boggling
No perfume yet. I’m tired and need a vacation and its only third week of term!
Did you ferment your Injera dough? We have an Ethiopian place in a neighbouring town, and their Injera is so acidic, I can honestly almost not eat it. Though it is super spongy and light. I think it is great for one’s gut flora!
We didn’t ferment it although I wish we did cuz I love the sourness factor. One of the recipes we didn’t go with said to use beer which would have worked to help with that. Ironically we have an Ethiopian restaurant in my town but I avoid it because they don’t use teff in their injera!!
Num! I love Ethiopian food!
Me too! And the best part is I get to eat with my hands!
Yasmina, in 2010 there was “Life with Archie” featuring a grown-up Archie!
Will have to check that out!
No CP.
Went to my favourite perfume shop for the first time since March. Wearing on various spots on my arms: 34 Boulevard St Germaine from Diptyque, Unum Opus 1144, Malle Lys Mediterranee, LL Lys 41 and Molton Brown Russian Leather. Luckily I’m not smitten by any of them.
Do like the Malle, though.
Wow, what a successful expedition and money saved.
SoTD is Le Labo The Noir, from a sample set my daughter gave me. Holy bug spray, Batman! Maybe I’ll do the CP after all.
That reminds me – has Le Labo been doing its usual September City Exclusives dealio?
Yes!
Did they issue a new one this year?
Seoul Citron 28 was launched this year.
SotD = Infusion d’Iris EdT
Hi, fragrance friends! Who remembers when Infusion d’Iris was Such A Big Thing in perfumeland? Still smells as lovely as I remember, though it is better if I spray a few times into the air before I spritz on skin. I think the perfume sitting in the atomizer gets a little plastic-y and stale.
Enjoying TJ’s Midsummer Night’s Cream hand and body lotion today. It has a slightly iris-y vibe. The ingredients claim carrot seed oil along with lemon, clary sage, and cacao.
My favorite Bill Murrayism – “I try to be available for life to happen to me.”
I’m feeling gratitude for almond butter on toasted sprouted whole wheat bread, and wishing everyone peace in whatever way makes you feel good.
Love that quote! And maybe I will wear IdI tomorrow.
😀 I hope you do! IdI will make you smile.
Bengale Rouge for the first time in months. My little decant called my name from the cabinet.
So…Vermont County Store never responded to my calls or email on the package I received. So, I guess it’s mine. I just know it is not a gift…it must be a mistake. But, if they want to eat the cost, I’ll let them. I’m not going to chase them.
My husband just firmly complained to the NYC contract tracer who called him. Told him/her it was becoming harassment. They’ve texted and called numerous times to let us know quarantine rules. Always the same script…like we haven’t heard it before. It makes me question the credibility of their system. We’ve responded to their texts as required. We’ve done what we are supposed to. A couple of reminders through the 14 days make sense. But the same script and the lack of acknowledgement that we have been responsive is annoying in the extreme. It’s been almost 10 days. We get it.
That does sound annoying!
Will have to think about comic book. I did read all the Archie ones as a kid. I remember being stuck in our tent while camping during a rainstorm and reading the same comic books over and over. I also read the comic strip pages in the newspaper in college and after. The Washington Post had three full pages of comic strips at one point. I read them all. Including Mary Worth and Dick Tracy. My favorite, though, was Spiderman. Maybe my scent today would suit Aunt May.
I would transfer them to a fax machine.
???
LOL!!
Yes! This!
Just dipping in today, not much time but wanted to see the next CP. I can totally do this one! I didn’t read traditional superhero comics as a kid, but I did read graphic novels like Daniel Clowes as a young adult, plus read a lot of Calvin & Hobbes, Far Side, and Bloom County growing up. Pretty sure I know which character I’m going with for Friday…will have to think about whether I can find a fragrance for Opus or Bill the Cat for another day this week.
Also, for anyone stumped, my kid loves to read graphic novels and manga. She has a manga version of Anne of Green Gables, so maybe someone could run with that?
Wow, Anne manga, I should look for that!
My son loved graphic novels too, maybe I should ask for help.
Wearing Nude for the apple note this morning. How I’m noting the first day of school with kids. No idea of a comic book character who would smell like sparkling apples–makes me think of an old-school, classic comic book lady like Lois Lane.
Hope the day went well!
Hiram Green MoonBloom. I was always 100% sure that tuberose was not for me. Now I’ve sampled MoonBloom and wonder what made me think I didn’t like tuberose.
Yep, that one is pretty darned good.
I don’t think I have ever read a comic book, so I will have to come up with something from the newspaper comic strips. For good news, which seems to be in short supply lately, The Great British Baking Show comes back to Netflix this Friday. I always try to think what I would make and never come up with anything half as creative as their bakes. I’m wearing Chypre 21 as I get the winter nightgowns out of the spare room dresser. It was cold here this morning!
We’ve been rewatching the older seasons of GBB and are anxiously anticipating a new one! My food NEVER looks as pretty as their’s, but it usually tastes good, so that is good enough for me.
Can’t wait for Baking Show! We also started season 2 of Taco Chronicles and it is entertaining.
Note de Yuzu from a sample someone sent me. Fine for a very warm day. We did a walk along the Canal de Bourgogne, with a nice view to the statue of Vercingetorix on the hill above Alise sur Reine.
A very quiet spot at this time. Had some Merguez and lentil salad for dinner plus pasteis de nata for dessert with a nice red wine from the Morgon area.
The cat came over to cuddle with me and licked both my ears raw. Crazy cat…
Your cat sounds adorable.
Glad the holiday is going well still!
Interesting CP! I haven’t read a lot of the comments, but I have watched a lot of the movies. And I read a lot of 2000AD years ago – I’ll have to think a bit about perfumes for Judge Dredd or Rogue Trooper.
Meanwhile, I have an urge for incense, so will be wearing CdG’s Ouarzazate.
That was supposed to be comics, not comments!
Makes sense then! And you smell great.
It’s definitely a Monday here. So many work computer issues. I’m in Boyfriend Dry Oil and participating in the CP as I channel Lois Lane.
Perfect! Sorry for the Monday work day though.
I was never into comic books, but my father read the funny papers religiously. He chuckled most at Hagar the Horrible and Crankshaft. He liked Crankshaft because he WAS Crankshaft! ?
I was a fan of nancy (for obvious reasons), Get Fuzzy and Bloom County.
Okay, after all of the reminiscing, I’m in TF Noir de Noir body spray thanks to the swapmeet. Started out in Oriza Deja Le Printemps from a sample. Lovely greenie, but it doesn’t last long enough. That’s okay, I’m wafting now!
Wow! My dad read “Crankshaft” too! My brother and I both agreed that the comic was definitely a reflection of my dad’s attitude. I cried when the last strip of Crankshaft came out, since it was like losing my dad again in a small way.
How have I never heard of Crankshaft??
But you reminded me that when I was young my Dad read a very old comic strip called Pogo, which I did not like at all.
Ha – my dad read that one, too and I didn’t like it either, but apparently it was very popular at least at one time! I had forgotten all about Crankshaft and Pogo. Calvin and Hobbes is more my style.
Yes, my grandmother was also a fan of
Pogo.
Calvin & Hobbes is my #1 Favorite!
I do love Odie & Garfield too.
Robin, Crankshaft debuted sometime in the late 1980’s.
Le Lion, which surely is a great match with a whole number of comic book heroes? As a kid we only read Donald Duck….
I love the lion! Thanks to hajusuuri for hosting the split! And also for the candle making suggestion. Must look up if/how that works.
Woo hoo, glad you enjoy it! I know it’s not to everyone’s liking but it is definitely very swappable.
It’s definitely a Monday for sure. Sunny but chilly weather to start the week. I did not want to get out of my nice warm bed this morning.
SOTD = back in Deep Red.
You smell wonderful – that’s an old fave of mine. I don’t see it mentioned that often.
Thanks springpansy! It’s good stuff for sure.
I will be in the seventies for a few days and will send it your way?
The mornings, though are pretty darn cold.
Thanks for the promise of warmer weather! But you aren’t kidding about cold mornings… the Pocono Mountains had a hard freeze last night, so their growing season is DONE for this year.
It’s getting harder and harder to get out of bed for sure
And it’s not even REALLY cold yet! I hate to think of what Winter is going to be like…
Mmmmm, stuck good on Deep Red!
Both Deep Red and Samsara have been hitting the perfumed spot with the cooler weather. If it warms up, I might switch to something different.
SOTD: L’Arte de Gucci edt, from a thriting find! I got a pretty bottle, with about 5ml in the bottom, for $5 and I am so glad to experience this beauty. It is my kind of thing; but I don’t mind that I most likely won’t ever have more.
Oh lucky you! L’Arte de Gucci is one of my HG rose perfumes.
Normally I spray a few times on old bottles to “clear them out” but this little dab looked good, so I put it on directly. Happy camper here! Perfumed high five to you!
I was in a fog all day, thinking it was still Sunday. :-0

I always love hearing about a good musk! I don’t own one, do you have a favorite? I am searching for a Kielhl’s Musk sample at my local shops.
