Happy Friday and happy Creamsicle Day! Our community project for today: wear a creamsicle fragrance, if you have one. (And you can find lots of suggestions — including layering combos — in the comments to 5 perfumes: consider the creamsicle).
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I'm in Fendi Theorema, of course.
Reminder: 8/21 will be Captured Unicorn Friday. Wear a perfume that you thought would be impossible to get, but you managed it. If you have not yet captured a unicorn, wear anything you like and tell us about the unicorn you'd like to catch. Suggested by Undina.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2020, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Layering AC Orange Sanguine and Philosophy Fresh Cream. Quite close to participate in the CP and the combo smells pretty nice.
I will have a cup of Breyers Orange creamcicle after I finish posting. I bought half gallon last night and I am craving for it after two early work meetings.
Happy Friday, everyone! ?
That sounds like a very nice layering.
And the ice cream sounds like a good idea, too!
It is! Very cheerful! ??
Love both of these! I hope you have a great weekend ???????
Thank you, Lillyjo! Enjoy the weekend! ?
Scent sibling-I am wearing Fresh Cream and Prada Fleur de Oranger!
You smell fabulous!
Hi scent twin! Your combo sounds great! I will try it after mine fades! ?
That’s a nice combo! The creamsicle ice cream sounds even better!
Thank you! I already had a cup of ice cream. Looking forward for a bowl after I finish working! ?????
Triple points for the ice cream!
I’ll take them! ?
I’m glad to see that other people are having cravings for ice cream! Ever since the pandemic and stay at home quarantine started, all I feel like eating is ice cream or gelato. Today I’m wearing Chanel 1957.
You smell fantastic!
I have never been so crazy about sweets, but I think working from home has pushed me to have every day ice cream, cookies, chocolate, pastries, etc. I try my best to eat small portions, but sometimes I indulge in more than I should! ?
It’s definitely been ice cream time around our house lately. 🙂
Is that the ice cream that’s half vanilla in the carton and half orange sherbert in the other half? I went thru gallons of that a few years ago and then it disappeared from my store; I thought it was d/c. I’ll have to take a look next time I’m there. Creamsicles -or Dreamsicles as they’re sometimes called – are my favorite summer treat. I always have them on hand and usually have one a day!☺️
No, the orange and vanilla are swirl together.
I love creamsicle pops/bars. That’s what I wanted in fact to buy, but my local supermarket didn’t have any.
Thanks. That’s new since the last time I looked, will have to give it a try. Enjoy!
I bet that smelled great!
That combo was better than expected!
Still in Ninfeo Mio from yesterday. Will shower later and switch it up. Too hot for any creamsicle-ish scent. The heat combined with (way too) frequent hot flashes makes me want to just park it right in front of the A/C. ?
Planning on kayaking this morning but not sure the weather is going to cooperate.
My drone came yesterday, so I’ve gotten everything charged and will give it a whirl later, again if the weather cooperates. Hopefully will not crash and destroy it on the first go!
Happy weekend all! Stay cool as you waft your way through the world! ?
Sounds like you got your power back! Good luck with the drone!
I need to get a SD card for the drone but I powered it up and made a successful lift and landing. Apollo 11 has got nothing on me! ?
Don’t crash the drone, Deva! And hope you get a paddle in.
I did! A long one and boy, did I need it. I haven’t been out and about AT ALL! Felt so good and the weather cooperated. ??
Nice, I’m so glad!
Today I smell very Creamsicle in Comptoir Sud Pacifique Vanille Orange — long discontinued yet somehow my bottle (in fact the usual aluminum canister) smells fresh as a daisy. It’s got a brilliant orange-pulp top note that gradually becomes rather synthetic, like orange Kool-aid, but magically the citrus note sticks around for hours and hours and hours. I don’t know how they manage this alchemy but it’s so much fun.
Vanille Orange was part of a Christmas set of three limited-edition scents in 2002: somehow, incomprehensibly, they released Vanille Banane as a standalone a couple of times but never re-released Vanille Freesia or Vanille Orange, both of which you’d think would be very commercial.
All three of those scents sound like such fun!
Vanille Orange was my pick today too! It makes me wish there was a Jamba Juice near me so I could grab an Orange Dream Machine smoothie.
There is a Jamba Juice near me and I usually get a combo chocolate-banana shake (I think there was peanut butter powder too). ?
They might still!
An attempt at CP, layering Body Shop Satsuma body mist with Shalimar Eau de Cologne. All it really does is ramp up the orange citrus. No milkiness with the vanilla, so not really creamsicle. But, the husband said it’s nice, so not a complete fail.
Finally finished the hat for my brother in law. It should have been much easier and faster…I just kept making mistakes due to inattention. I have enough yarn to do another one, and this time I’ll make it shorter in length. But…I have other projects to start first.
And…we’ve made travel arrangements to finally visit Door County in Wisconsin, where my husband went to high school after his parents divorced. He’s been trying to get me there for years. We are flying. Got pretty cheap fares, if we were willing to just be assigned seats after check-in. To my mind, a two hour flight is a hop, skip and jump so I don’t really care where I sit.
Jealous of everybody going anywhere…would so like a vacation.
And congrats on finishing the hat!
I’m not going anywhere either and could also use a vacation. Except for obligatory holidays, weekends and a one half-day I took off, I have worked every single day in 2020.
Wow, Filomena, you need a break way more than I do then.
We actually haven’t been away for a few years beyond a few days in Philly for a wedding last year. It’s basically been three years of dealing with infirm or elderly cats….
That is hard.
Congrats on finishing the hat and for making going away vacation plans!
Congrats on finishing the hat! I have about four half done scarves here.
Door County is scenic and beautiful – lots of great places to ?. Enjoy!
Lots more places to eat since my husband was last there. Recommendations welcomed.
I haven’t been in awhile, will have to check my vacation notes and will let you know.
I’m wearing my two creamsicle scents, one on each arm.
Lake from By Rosie Jane is a straight up creamy vanilla/citrus scent.
4160 Tuesdays Freeway is a more grown up take on the same theme, vanilla ice cream, dense orange blossoms, some pot, dusty roads and sunshine.
If those are the 4160’s notes, they should have called it Road Trip.
❤️ Road Trip!
So which one wins?
Freeway! Can’t beat it.
Thanks!
I’m wearing Lake too! Wish I had some Freeway to add. I loved my sample.
Yes! Freeway is the adult version – much more complex, moody and sexy. You need a bottle!
4160 is really hard to get where I live in Sweden, and the shipping from the UK is reallt pricy and complicated now, ever more than shipping from the US (took my bottle of Lake 4 months to get here) but I had amazing luck and won a bottle in the Eaumysoul facebook group.
Lake is such an easy scent to wear. It was a blind buy for me and I’m really happy about it. Madie is also very nice, and James. By Rosie Janes scenta are mostly hits imo.
Tinked my sample of Fragrance du Bois Oud Bleu Intense for partial CP today!
I don’t usually don’t like marine-inspired scents or orange as a note on me, but this one is quite unique, neither bitter nor sweet orange but somehow just fresh.
Reading reviews for this one are hilarious (FdB seems to have a strong array of testosterony male fragrance fans) but ultimately it’s a very gentle, resiny scent with mandarin, cardamom and slightly salty/ozonic notes supported by a slightly medicinal oud.
Coffee and an herb-and-cheddar croissant, and I am ready to start my day!
that croissant sounds great!
Agreed!
Both your fragrance and your breakfast sound good to me!
Ooohh I wish I’d had your croissant today!
Profumum Roma Dulcis in Fundo, mentioned yesterday by She-ra.
It is my foodiest citrus-vanilla scent. I have never actually tried a creamsicle (I do not think they are sold here), but it reminds me of a spread/dessert I buy from time to time. It contains citrus, cream, butter, eggs, sugar – something between a fruit curd and a custard, I guess. Sweet, tangy and creamy.
Anyway, Dulcis in Fundo is delicious, but vanilla quickly takes over citrus. Not for vanillaphobes, not for people who do not like sweet gourmands 🙂 I enjoy it, but only occasionally.
You smell wonderful…the vanilla definitely takes over and wins I dare say. 😉
My decant of that one is almost gone and I shall now ponder if I need the travel spray.?
Thank you. To be honest, I find the vanilla part a bit cloying at some moments. I finished one sample, got another one and still cannot make up my mind whether I want a decant.
No creamsicles! May I recommend you make one yourself? They are worth it!
Interesting idea! I googled the recipe, and it looks easy. However, I will need to buy molds, plus I am so lazy when it comes to making food… Usually when I want an icecream, I prefer to buy one. Or, when I want a healthy homemade option, there is a very easy “icecream” recipe with frozen banana and carob powder. So I am not sure I will get to making a creamsicle soon. 🙂
You really don’t need molds…You can freeze in a pan and cut into squares. Or freeze in a pan and just scoop it out. Or freeze into any small size tupperware. Really, anything. I made my son lots of popsicles when he was young and didn’t get a mold until he was much older…and then only because he had some weird science project that required a popsicle mold.
BUT, paying more attention now to your original comment, yeah, just buy what ice cream is available at the store ?
I tried Pomelo Fizz as a possible CP fragrance last night, and couldn’t take it. Anyway I’m wearing Terre D’Hermes Eau Intense Vetiver for the first time, from a mini bottle I’ve had for a few weeks. So far so good.
You smell great PriscillaE!
Omg I didn’t think Friday would get here. Just a long week.
No creamsicle here, but I think just le labo hinoki lotion post shower. I found a dove sensitive skin exfoliator that doesn’t seem to incite hives and leaves my skin soft after shower.
Sorry it was a long week!
How long does the scent last on that lotion?
On me it lasts a good 4-6 hours.
Yes, I have a tube of this, too and it’s quite long-lasting. (Unfortunately, it’s also still in my cubicle at work and I haven’t been there in months…)
Wow, that’s quite decent.
Nice on the exfoliating! My sister has terribly sensitive skin, will have to let her know about that one.
Good morning and Happy FriYAY Y’all,
Easy creamsicle pick today: Bath and Body Works Snowy Citrus Swirl. It’s from their 2019 Christmas collection, and smells EXACTLY like a creamsicle. I used the bath gel and the fragrance mist and I’m projecting pretty well for this inexpensive duo…
Have a great weekend everyone!
I think I would like that as a bath gel!
I agree! I have it in all forms and really like it, great for layering, and just reading the word “snowy” makes it a great choice for a hot summer day.
I didn’t think of that! I have the lotion, and I think it’s quite nice. I got that at Christmas.
I am wearing Chanel No 5 EDP and drinking a cup of Indian Spice tea.
I have been busy helping my parents straighten up their home. In the last three to four years it has gotten incredibly cluttered. We started with their garage, then my old bedroom. Next was a bathroom I used to share with my sisters, then onto my sisters’ bedroom (I got to have my own room because I was the oldest). It is starting to look like a home again. Still a lot of work to do, but its getting there.
Today I have a break, so I will enjoy my No 5 this morning and get some things done around here throughout the day.
Good luck with the cleaning project! I hope it doesn’t take overly long to get it spic and span again!
I’ve offered to help my mom I don’t know how many times, but whenever I show up, she’d rather sit around and chat and make excuses why I needn’t help her. What I really wish is that she’d hire housecleaners. Just a couple times a month, have someone who can bend over come through the house to help put things back in place and give them a good wipe down! Don’t think it’s going to happen, though. Mom is too (stubbornly ) independent.
Ouf wow, bravo – the past time I offered to help my mom declutter was the last!
She couldn’t deal with me setting some reasonable ground rules like “no holding on to shopping catalogues more than a year old, they will send you a new one, trust me.”
Both my folks are the type to hold onto things too long. I’ve gone in the other direction and go through my effects at least 3-4 times a year and ruthlessly cull anything I haven’t made a good faith effort to put to use.
Sounds like we are cut from similar cloth, teebear! My mom can’t get rid of anything. She kept EVERYTHING after her mom died, and years later after her father died. Her house has 3 estates in it, and has had for decades. I have reacted to this by being very mindful of what I buy in the first place and taking intentional time to get rid of things. Maybe not 3-4 times a year, but regularly, I go through closets, bins, and drawers and make sure I’m confident it all still belongs in my possession. I don’t want to live in the same kind of clutter that she does. It would be oppressive to me.
I need to be RUTHLESS!
It is hard, and I know it takes a lot to let others go through your things. I try to be cognizant of that, and tell her I am proud of her for allowing us to clean and sort through their stuff. I was afraid for the longest time that my parents would slip and fall on the clutter. It will be such a relief when it is done.
So good of you to help your parents!
I’m joining Robin in a dab of Theorema, going thru emails and then out for a walk. Happy Friday, everyone!
BeautyHabit has a new version of Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse: Florale. Very tempted to check it out!
Would love to hear what it’s like!
Hey twin!
You smell lovely, sp!
Shalimar EDC for the day.
Always correct.
Smelling awesome
Wore Theorema this morning but I am post shower and will be working this afternoon so I am Zagorsk. When Zagorsk wears off, I will reapply Theorema.
A creamsicle sandwich 🙂
I layered Dior Addict with Orange Sanguine. Turns out this doesn’t work for creamsicle. It’s the wrong type of vanilla. I smell like a spicy Christmas Orange. Still good, but no points for me. However, I do have real creamsicles in my freezer. Today is my Monday but happy weekend to everyone!
Spicy Christmas orange sounds pretty good too! Hard to believe it’ll be that time in just a few weeks!
You smell delicious. I may try this!
Your combo sounds very nice, real creamsicle must be a treat, we don’t have them here.
That sounds fabulous.
I think a spicy Christmas orange is a lot closer to Creamsicle than what I am wearing today is. Hope you are enjoying it anyway.
Hope you made it through your Monday! I bet you smelled great!
I’ve just realised what a ‘creamsicle’ is in relation to ice lollies and ice creams here in the UK. We have ‘splits’ ie pineapple or strawberry split, as far as I know there aren’t orange ones tho, I wonder why, as they sound delicious.
I haven’t got a fruity vanilla perfume, Lovely has dissapeared so will respray with an Aedes sample which needs using up.
It’s funny. It didn’t occur to me that creamsicle was a regional/cultural thing, but now I think on it, there’s no reason why it would be ubiquitous! Ice cream seems to be everywhere now, anyway, if folks have regular, reliable refrigeration, that is. Which seems weird, given how much of the world is lactose intolerant! I wonder, are coconut ice creams more popular worldwide? I know it’s been a thing in SE Asia long before it showed up in my local grocery store.
I’ve only seen coconut and mango popsicles in our usual grocery store fairly recently. I can get mango ice cream at a nearby Indian grocery. But they weren’t common flavors out here in the suburbs when I was growing up.
Well, I’m going to claim half a point – SOTM is Diptyque L’Eau Tarocco. It’s more Italian gelato than creamsicle, but I don’t seem to have any readily available vanilla in my arsenal … plus it will be hot here today. I will be re-spritzing Tarocco throughout the day, I suspect. Happy Friday everyone!
Gelato is never a bad thing to my mind.
So true. Wish I had some right about now. 😀
Ahh you smell fantastic. Bizarrely, it took me a good dozen tries to get into Tarocco, and by the time I decided I loved it, my sample was nearly empty 🙁 Ah well.
I have a gigantic vat of it and would be happy to send you some if you like. 🙂
Oh gosh, how sweet of you; I would love a little bit! Please email me at kobhatta at jeemale, or else I can contact you if you send me your address!
Just emailed! Holler if you don’t see something in your inbox – sometimes I mistranscribe email addresses. ?
Lots of fun combos for this CP!
I had a hankering for Drôle de Rose today, my SOTD.
Happy Friday! It’s been a heck of a long week but feels good to have accomplished a lot of work. Hope to get out for a bike ride later today with my husband and enjoy the gorgeous weather.
You smell great, floragal! I love Drole de Rose. I pretty much love all those cosmetic roses.
Yep, this week has seemed a lot longer than most.
Three times as long, at least.
Yes, you do smell lovely. 🙂
Last week was more of a long week for me, but I’ve mostly wanted to stay in the house for the last couple of weeks, since it’s been 90+ degrees F out and/or raining.
Really hope next week is better! Sounds like it will cool off but possibly keep on raining.
Ex Idolo Love & Crime which is in creamsicle family.
Notes are…red mandarin, classic feminine florals, baking sugar, star anise, natural cocoa, vanilla sponge cake. ??
Now I want a mid-morning cupcake, I can’t imagine why…
Pretty sure I always want a midmorning cupcake. 😀
And a mid-afternoon cupcake and …
An after dinner cupcake, is nice, too.
CP Rebel ™ in Heeley Search Menthe Fraiche
Ha!
I found my bottle last night, so I am in Theorama Esprit d’Ete. I miss the oakmoss of the original, but this is very nice in a Shalimar eau l
Legere way.
I never did get to try that version…sounds like I would prefer the original anyway?
Coffee, geriatric cat on my back, and eventually, a few spritzes of Shalimar Creamsicle.
I have an intense memory of eating a little plastic cup of vanilla ice milk swirled with orange sherbet–eating it with a flat, wooden “spoon”–outside, standing in the parking lot of the Elk’s Lodge. I bet I was 8 or 9 years old. I remember being surrounded by other kids, so it must have been some kind of school event–maybe a DARE rally? Something like that. I grew up in a small enough town that we would “parade” through town a few times a year for things like that. Funny. I’m guessing the goal wasn’t to associate saying “No” to drugs with ice cream. 😀
Nice memory! Once you’re “shalimar-ed” up, you’ll be my twin…
Hi Twin!
Ah, your kitty realized he missed a day and is back onto schedule. ?
I’m sure the absence yesterday was really rough for him. ?
Hey twin!
Trying for creamsicle, Hermes style with Mandarin Ambree over Vanille Galante. Not quite creamsicle but a pretty nice combo I wouldn’t have tried but for the CP!
This is proving to be a big DIY perfume day!
In Gallivant’s Tel Aviv, which has some creamsicle properties . . . and that’s as close as I’m going to get.
In other news, we are finally going to get the heat of summer that I have been craving. My first thought this AM? “Oh why does it have to be so warm; I want to wear layers.” Honestly, I am impossible to please. I had a long talk with myself about never wanting what I actually have, and how stooopid that is—and now I am fine, I think. Waiting for the high of 93 to hit 😉 😉
LOL! I can completely relate to your dissatisfaction! When I’m busy, I wish I could just sit still for a while. When there’s nothing on my to-do list, I’m bored. No pleasing me.
I am like that with hot baths. We don’t have a bath so when I go to hotels with a bath I am always “Ooh, a bath!!” Then I run the water, get in and five seconds later I’m like “Now what!!??” I just end up staring at the grouting for a few more minutes and then get out.
LOL! Yes. I want a hot bath to warm up, and then pretty fast it’s too warm, and I have to stick a leg out and open a window.
I agree – plants in pots are like goldfish in an aquarium – they have no choice but to trust you will do the right thing, so when the plants look droopy, or the aquarium is anything less that sparkling clear, give them some fresh water. It’s good for your karma – some day, someone will return the favor. 🙂
mm, this post appears to have landed in the wrong spot! Sorry about that – see thread below.
Please give me your 93. I’ll send you our 108! 🙂
108? That is just silly. What are you thinking? 😆
I was ready to give you 90 but you declined ?
Those were the days my friend
We thought they’d never end . . . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3KEhWTnWvE
LOL!
We are in a ridiculous heat wave (our high should get to about 100F today), and I already want to turn on the AC, at 9:30am. I’m so stressed out about the heat and trying to figure out if it is going to kill all my beautiful plants and fruits that I am having trouble concentrating on my work. No creamsicles, but I am wearing Cap Neroli, which is…orange creamsicle-adjacent, maybe?
Did you get a chance to water everything beforehand?
All watered, yes! But a lot of them are in planters, rather than the earth, so I’m worried the 100F will dry them up partway through the day. And then, do I water them a second time or have faith in nature and its ability to withstand a day of intense heat?
If they look sad at all, I say rewater. No need to put them under more stress. My philosophy is that plants in gardens aren’t nature; they’re there because we introduced them, so that means we’re intervening already.
Ok, that’s a very good point 🙂 Maybe I will keep an eye on everyone and give them a top-off if needed.
I water once a day and very plentifully and that seems to suffice here for my porch potted plants. We have pretty much three months of ninety-degree heat. Here’s my now-flourishing bell pepper plant! The wee peppers are so cute! It will get bigger and turn orange. https://www.instagram.com/p/CD4I4bXJwMY09ogozB5eYzQOnr2njRaT1BvIvE0/?igshid=a0s446zme0wy
I can’t see your pic; your account is private 🙁 I wonder if your peppers are the same as mine! Maybe a quarter the size of a regular bell pepper, pointy at the bottom, and charmingly orange. I hope they are the same!
Koyel,
I have lots of pots (though mostly big ones) outside, and we are getting 108 today and get 100 plus temps regularly – while some plants won’t thrive (fuchsias, for example), I think you needn’t stress about it – they’ll be fine, especially since you are aware of them!
108! Oof! Good to know 🙂
No CP for me, instead lots of Empreinte. I am again on a chypre kick. And it’s too hot for vanilla anyway.
Have a nice weekend, you all
I had never heard of this, so looked it up. Sounds intriguing.
Friday!
1) Did a body scrub from Beauty Pie, Soul Providers, which is orange/ginger forward, followed by layers of Fresh Cream and Prada Fleur d’Oranger. Very creamsicle, and very pretty for a day that will reach 88F!
2) My weekend project will doing measurements for fake built in bookshelves. I found the idea on Pinterest (of course) which lead me to the blog describing the project, which lead me to doing a preliminary sketch on AUTOCAD. I will do final measurements, then see if I can pick up from my local IKEA (a 5 minute bike ride away, deliver for $59) and get molding from Home Despot. If I get brave and take the plunge, I think this will take me about two weeks to finish.
Oooh! I made fake built-ins for my last house, and they came together really well!!! I put in 4 short Ikea bookshelves (had to cut one down, since it was about 3 inches too wide all together), an Ikea bench in the middle as a window seat, and then put moulding around the sides, bottom, and top to tie them all together. When it was all finished, it was about $120, and made the bedroom look so much more put together. It’s a great project!
A window seat! Wonderful.
It was in their kids collection, IIRC. Just a plain white bench. But it looked great between the shelves!
OMG, that sounds really lovely!
I want to be you. Yup. Full on envy. Love your project! I have often thought about putting in fako built-ins— including bookshelves, wall benches to create a kitchen breakfast area, and window seats… I have all sorts of **ideas** but can barely hammer in a nail… and have no patience to teach myself. Our house, built in 1927, has all sorts of ersatz “Tudor” details, however. The room my youngest uses as his bedroom was probably designed originally, or at least a long time ago, to be a sort of library/office. It’s a small room, with one wall entirely a bookshelf except where there is a window in the middle. He’s a reader, and it gives me no end of pleasure to see him reading in his room, surrounded by books. (And also, because I am never entirely happy with anything (see my post today) I also am eternally worried that an earthquake is going yank all those books off the shelves and onto him in his sleep. Sigh.)
The benefit of IKEA as your starting place is that very few hammers and nails are involved. 😉
1) This time wfh gave me back about 3 hours worth of prep &commuting time a day, so now I have time & energy to do the projects I have been wanting to do for 3 years now. Although I have doing bits here and there, and have the tools, it has been a pleasure to actually do stuff.
2) It’s a mom worry! and given where you live, a valid one! but he will be fine!
I shared the bookcase/earthquake worry. My son had a massive , heavy glass-door book case in his tiny room. I used to worry when he had friends sleeping over as they would be on the floor in front of the case, and I would dread them being flattened in the night as the whole thing toppled over. My mother’s kitchen was knee deep in tins, pots, crockery, food after the Chch earthquake when every shelf, fridge , cupboard opened up. Everything ended up on the floor and it was dramatic.
Exactly! The Harry Potter series alone could lead to a concussion.
That sounds very cool! I’m looking at my sad Ikea shelves here – overstuffed, wrong color, pathetic.
Overstuffed: well loved objects and books
Wrong color: Right color in sunlight
Pathetic: Well loved and well used
very kind of you!
Love this!
Wearing Anne Pliska for the project today.
I’m really loving having natural light in my massage room at my new job. So different than having a dim cave for the past 20+ years. I’ve only been there a week and someone has already rebooked for next week. Yay!
I work in a massage studio on the 6th floor with BIG east-facing windows, and it’s really a game changer. We get a lot of compliments on the space and it does wonders for my own mental health. Plus, we can grow lots of plants!
Sounds like a great start!
How nice!
I forgot to creamsicle! Like many, I was planning to layer some orangey thing with some vanilla thing, but I ended up in Baiser Vole instead.
Settlement on our current home occurred today, and since we’re renting back from our buyers until our new house is finished being built, I can relax into packing for the next few weeks. Sure would like a creamsicle to celebrate!
Oh, setting up a rent-back can be such a reassurance! So glad you don’t have to find some other living arrangements while you’re waiting on contractors!
We are so very fortunate that we found such agreeable buyers!
You smell good, though. 🙂
Good luck with your move. Will you still be living in the same general area?

If anyone in the U.S. is interested in joining a split of Chanel Les Exclusifs Le Lion, I will order a 200 mL bottle. Please email me by Saturday 15 August 2pm Eastern with subject Chanel Le Lion Split, along with requested volume. For reference: $15-$16 for 5mLs and $25-$27 for 10mLs (shipped, new packing materials) but these prices are not solid at this point. And no need to pay yet…I am just gauging interest. I need to fill 150mLs for it to make sense to order the bottle since I am also getting a personal 75mL bottle.
As a Leo I feel obligated to try this scent, so count me in for at least 5 mls.
LOL. Duly noted!
Oh, that sounds fun! Count me in for 10mL!
Woo hoo! I got your email!
Just sent you an email. Yippee! Hope it goes through.
Got your email. Thanks. We need more participation as we’re only up to 45mLs. I was hoping to let Suzan know by tomorrow. Let’s see what tomorrow brings!
Gorgeous bottle! Wow!
Thank you! I have to find ways to vary the picture…kind of like wearing the same dress to special occasions and hoping that ot is seen in a different light.
You matched that bottle perfectly!
I’m still commando and will decide what to wear after my shower and after a search through all my sample bins. Funny story about my Spanish professor friend who offered to send me a jar of his white peach lavender jam. He sent me a note today to say he’d mailed it yesterday but it cost more than he expected. So I am to send him a check for $8.25 once I get it! No “please” or “would you mind.” He was quite controversial when he was a department chair and now I can see why!
I can totally see a personality there – filling in all kinds of blanks. Hilarious!
What a nice “gift!” ?
I know! It’s going to be a very expensive bottle of jam, I hope it’s good! He recommended eating it on toast with some goat cheese and I’m already salivating at the thought!
I’ve made peach lavendar jam before, and it’s delicious. I like it with normal, every day butter on toast, but I’m sure goat cheese would be lovely!
Whatever you do, don’t ask him to send you the toast.
LOL!
Wow. Just wow.
Oy vey! “Controversial” doesn’t even begin to cover it, I suspect.
So it was like a “you’re paying the postage” demand? I can understand someone being surprised at the cost of shipping something like that, but I wouldn’t expect the person receiving the jam to pay for the shipping unless that had been agreed on beforehand. It had better taste good after all that, huh?
Did he think it was going to cost $0?
He should have just told you he dropped the jar to get out of mailing it.
I’m happy with myself, even if not cp-compliant, in Encens Mythique today. Just had a craving for it.
I do want to smell like a creamsicle at some point, though. So many great suggestions here. Best of Fridays to everyone!
Happy Friday to you, too!
You smell good, even though you don’t smell like a creamsicle. 😀
Shalimar Parfum de Toilette. Like a few others on the board, I have only a vague notion of what a creamsicle is and have certainly never had one. If any Australians are on this board, is it like a spider? I’ve had that when I was an exchange student.
No creamsicle in the UK either.
I think a spider is usually fizzy lemonade or cola with a dollop of icecream
so…that is different from a creamsicle, then? Thanks!
That sounds like what Americans would call a “float”.
I admire all the creative combos, but went the easy route with Theorema which I hadn’t worn in a long time, since winter in fact.
Hey twin!
Berdoues Vanira Moorea, which is the creamsicle-iest thing I had. I was actually planning to layer Orange Sanguine and Vanille Insensee, but apparently I used up the OS sample or passed it on to my mom, but it’s all good because I found the VM sample that I forgot I had. I’m not sure what this all says about my perfume sample storage habits.
I like that new word you coined.
It’s a great vanilla for summer!
Good afternoon! 🙂
I finally managed to do a project on the actual Friday! 🙂 Early this morning, I put on a spritz of Demeter Condensed Milk and a dab of Atelier Cologne Clementine California. I thought the effect was really pretty close. 🙂
Tea this morning was Numi Jasmine Green, iced. I don’t get as much of the flavor when the tea is cold, but it’s very refreshing. 🙂
I think I tried the Numi Jasmine Green tea and liked it. But right now, my preferred tea has mint and ginger in it, for (maybe?) some relief from summer’s stickiness.
I’ve been drinking Numi’s Moroccan Mint “herbal tisane” as an iced drink pretty frequently, too. I find it refreshing. I’ve also gotten into drinking coconut water.
I did not think I could participate in this project, since vanilla in general is a big no no for me, with very few exceptions (heavy hitting animalistic classics like Shalimar and Angélique Encens) but I realized that I have on hand a scent that fits this creamsicle category rather neatly: Strange Invisible Perfumes Fire and Cream. It has no vanilla in it, but it has nectar-like sweetness from tuberose and white lavender, and it definitely smells strangely creamy. It smells like an orange tinged white floral amber lit from within by sunset. It has been discontinued and only have a few samples of it left, but there are days when I really feel like wearing it and enjoying its creamy, sweet goodness.
This sounds really good!
That was a nice one.
For today’s cp I’m enjoying the cheery citrus floral cream of RL Ralph Rocks – lots of orange in this – layered over BBW’s Endless Weekend. Creamsicles are my favorite summer treat and orange and vanilla are two favorite scent notes, so I’m really enjoying this one. Ralph Rocks is a fun summer scent that I won a number of years ago at a fragrance get-together at my beloved and iconic Marshall Field’s before Macy’s took it over and ruined it. A great scent for a casual Friday.
After a horrible start to the week for those of us in the Chicago area – a derecho that spawned heavy storms and tornadoes (first time I ever had a tornado and immediately take shelter warning on my phone) on the same day we woke up to the news of heavy looting downtown and the Mag Mile. A very scary day, but fortunately the rest of the week got much better with sunny and warm, really nice summer days and no additional horrific news.
Tonight we’ll be enjoying a ‘faux’ outdoor concert – watching the Ravinia Fest livestream from our sunporch. Think I’ll have a big bowl of vanilla ice cream and orange sherbert while I watch to continue today’s theme. Looking forward to tomorrow night, another ‘outdoor concert’ socially distanced with a couple of friends on our screened porch along with wine and pizza.
Hope your weekend brings good things!
On my walk a few evenings ago, some neighbors had set up a projection screen in their front yard. A handful of people were sitting outside on the lawn, with some distance, watching Hamilton together. It was pretty great!
Sounds like fun! A lot of professional musicians are just dying to play anywhere and there have been pop up concerts in front of people’s homes in the city – we do what we can!
I suppose if you know enough performers, live Hamilton would be even better. 😀
Gosh, how incredible to experience a derecho. We don’t get them here but they happen in Australia. I am glad your week improved after such a rough start.
It was pretty scary. I’ve lived in this house for decades and this was the first time I was ready to go in my basement. We watched the weather app closely and, luckily, it passed our area quickly without damage. Other parts of Chicago and a few suburbs had a lot of tree damage and there are still electrical outages in some areas 4 days later. But I think, fortunately, there was no human damage.
Good to hear that you were spared the wrath of that derecho. Some truly scary pictures from that!
I’m reminded of one of my yoga teacher’s favorite sayings: ‘Be grateful for what you have. And be grateful for what you’ve escaped.’ Yes!!!
Okay, how did it get to be 2:25 in the afternoon??? Safe at Home time goes so fast.
I’m in Mandarine Glaciale + Fresh Cream Warm Cashmere. I smell like a winter creamsicle. Is that a thing? Also a little Cedre Atlas on my shoulders.
It looks like Mr. NL and I have reached an agreement on paint colors for the rest of the house: kitchen, breakfast nook and dining room. It’s a light grey that runs a bit cool if you have to pick, but it’s hard to tell if it has more blue or green in it. It doesn’t look like a hospital green (my trigger), nor battleship grey (Mr. NL’s trigger). I’m so glad we finally settled on something! ?
That sounds like an elegant solution!
Thanks! I’ll be glad to see the project done.
Yay for finding a paint color you both can live with! ?
Agreed. 🙂
And orange and pine sound good. “Cashmere” as a category of fragrance doesn’t make sense to me, but I’m sure you made a nice perfume combo there, Nancy. 😀
(I like the texture of cashmere sweaters, and haven’t noticed a specific associated scent with the finished item of clothing. But I mentally connect the wool that starts it all with the scent of goats. The plant known as “Cashmere Bouquet” has that common name because of the smell of the leaves if you bruise them. Anyway…)
Congratulations! There are so many beautiful variations of grey available these days.
We don’t have creamiscles here either and I wasn’t too sure what they were but I have a memory of an icecream on a stick from my childhood ( discontinued now – the icecream at least) that was called a Strawberry Toppa that was vanilla icecream dipped in strawberry flavoured ice. The ice part always stuck to my tongue causing it to bleed as it was ripped away. I don’t have any strawberry perfumes, sadly. Wearing Songes as it is a beautiful cool spring day and the daffodils are going for it.
We have (had?) that in Germany, but it was orange on the outside, vanilla in the middle. I just looked it up – it was called a split, favorite flavor of mine was Cuja Mara (passionfruit). Wouldn’t mind one of those right now!
Berdoues Vanira Moorea fits the bill today.
How are you feeling today?
Fine, fine. All is good.
I really like that one! It’s a great vanilla for summer.
Checking back in to post. I’m wearing a combination of Eau Duelle for vanilla and Profumum Orangea for orange. It’s amazing what’s lurking in my sample bins!
I’m wearing Avon’s Rare Rubies, which is kind of a spiced creamsicle. Maybe a cross between a creamsicle and a wood pudding?
Ah, interesting!!
A beautiful crisp morning here, lovely to have bright sunshine on a Saturday morning. I’m not entirely sure what a creamsicle is either, but the consensus is that Theorema is very appropriate, I have Theorema – voila, I smelled like a creamsicle yesterday!
Scent free so far today, apart from last night’s Absolu Pour Le Soir on my clothes (I’ll be smelling that for days). I’m going for a walk later and will test a new range at the local perfumery, Maison Rebatchi. I wasn’t wowed by sniffing paper strips a couple of weeks ago, but want to test them properly.
I love Absolu Pour Le Soir! You and your clothes smell heavenly. I keep hoping to find a gently used small bottle. I found and purchased a 1/3 full used bottle of Vero Mito! So check that off the bottles that got away list.
Wearing Joop! Le Bain today. Not exactly creamsicle, but not entirely off the mark, either. I forgot that I was planning to wear Theorema! I will take that bottle out, for the evening….
So late today. Anne Pliska for the CP. it is wearing me rather than me wearing it. Nice but a bit exhausting after eight hours.
Happy weekend all!
For non-US folks here: a Creamsicle is a frozen treat that comes in 2 different versions. One is vanilla ice cream covered in/with orange sherbet, while the other is vanilla ice cream covered in/with orange ice/popsicle. Both are bars or pops on sticks.
As for me, no perfume Creamsicle today. I woke up kind of grouchy and irritable again today, so I reached for a comfort scent. Weather related, perhaps? Dunno. Maybe I’ll do the CP over the weekend.
SOTD = back in Cuir de Lancome.
Hope you’re out of your irritable funk! Do you have creamsicle to eat? I was going to make a Wegmans run but changed my mind.
No Creamsicle here, I’ve had the Heretic Discovery set reproaching me all week for not testing them, so today I’m wearing four, two on each arm. Smudge is the best of the lot, I think, although Blood Cedar is very nice. I’m just not sure I want to smell like cedar.
I watched a few episodes of House last night. The diagnostic conundrums are so freaking unbelievable. A 12 year old boy, with a few minutes exposure, is infected with anthrax which turns out to be masking leprosy. What?? I swear the showrunners just threw darts at lists of diseases. I don’t think I can watch any more.
I used to have such deep affection for House! Not because I loved the show, I didn’t, but because I have a rare disease (Wegener’s Granulomatosis, if you want to geek out on rare autoimmune vasculitis) that can look like a lot of other things and they bring it up ALL THE TIME! It’s like I’m real. Me and the 6000 other people in the States who have it. 😀
In about 20 squirts of L’ Artisan Passage D’Enfer, waves at hajusuuri, this is a quiet perfume so I can go crazy plus it is a big bottle. Are you craving a well mannered incense fragrance with a touch of lily and cool stone? Non of that nostril hair burning smoke here. Hey, I like an incense fragrance as much as the next girl/guy but nobody likes it when the person next to you asks if you have been camping.
I totally copied hajusurri from earlier this week and went with Orange Sanguine with Vanille Insensée. It really does make a great creamsicle especially when first sprayed!
Happy Friday, friends!
No creamsicle for me on Friday; I wore vintage Guerlain Parure, a recent purchase. Wow! Total oakmoss bomb. I love it.
