Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit and welcome to June! (Plus happy World Milk Day and Go Barefoot Day, and happy birthday to Morgan Freeman.) What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm starting off the week with cp points, in Memo Inlé.
Reminder: on 6/5, wear a perfume with osmanthus, if you have one.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2020, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the blue poppies bunny was $28 at The Polish Pottery Shop but might be sold out; they still have lots of other bunny figurines and cookie jars.
Rabbit x3
Bois D’Ombrie
Whiskey, cognac, tobacco, patchouli….
Yep, you smell great!
You smell wonderful!
Acca Kappa Tilia Cordata a perfect sunny breezy frangrance for a sunny breezy day!
No credit points here and I have no idea if any fragrance I own other than Osmanthe Yunnan actually has osmanthus. Will be a fun to find out more about it from everyone here ?
I love linden. Have never smelled Acca Kappa’s that I can remember but suspect you do also smell great!
I was awake at 2:47 and remembered the rabbits.???
SotD is Chanel Paris-Venise. I ordered samples of three of the Les Eaux’s from eBay, Venise, Biarritz, and Deauville. So far this one is my favorite. When I looked up the notes, it’s not surprising, it has notes of vanilla and tonka. I tried all three yesterday because they are fairly short lived.
Deauville was my favorite of these and I think it had the most oomph/longevity too although I liked Venise as well.
I quite like Paris-Riviera as well.
Looking forward to trying Paris-Edimbourg once it’s released.
Juniper, cypress, cedarwood and vetiver make it sound rather masculine.
Paris-Riviera is my favourite and I am really looking forward to trying Paris-Edimbourg.
Oh my goodness! How did I not know this?
Was it part of the crazed fever dream box I have been in for what seems like ever?
I am so excited! This made my day! When does it come out?
I love all the eaux equally.
SOTD is Taif OJ
It has the most longevity for me too.
My favorite of the Paris colognes along with Deauville. You smell great!
Same! I got a 50 ml bottle in Paris last year in June (wow, almost a year now!)
Twins! I also got a fb in December and it is gorgeous!
Did you get the smaller one?
When I was visiting Paris it was just in the time of the launch of Paris-Riviera and I was only travelling with hand luggage (so no more than 100 ml of perfume allowed).
I knew this collection comes in 125 ml but in Galleries Lafayette it turned out they also released 50 ml! I was like “I’m not going back home without one of these little cuties”
I got the 50ml bottle, but I see myself getting the big one in the future, since I wear it a lot. The same with the lotion.
I’m the oddball, I liked Biarritz the best. Picked up a 50ml bottle in January (a lifetime ago) and plan on enjoying it this summer.
I liked Biarritz the less, but if a full bottle falls in my lap I will wear it for sure. I think the three colognes are all very nice and enjoyable.
That was my second favorite of the three samples I got. It was the shortest lived on my skin though.
Thanks!?
Of the three, I liked Deauville the best, it was so refreshing!
I see Deauville mentioned the most in the SotD, it has kind of a hairspray note on my skin though…
Paris-Venise is my favorite from the line as well. You smell nice!
And that’s my second favourite 🙂
Thanks!?
Hey twin! Though I’m wearing the lotion. I also though it was short lived when I tried it at Nordies a while back, but finding it to have good longevity now (the perfume, but also the lotion).
Riviera is my 1st favorite, but I like all of them!
Hey! ? I was eyeing that lotion up on the Chanel website and figured the lotion layered with the perfume would be really good. I’ll have to try the Riviera too.
I rabbited late last night, or very early this morning.
SOTD is Ormonde Jayne’s Osmanthus, I finished my sample of this. Nice enough but somehow it does not quite float my boat. Mind you, that might just be the age of this sample. I guess it’s nearly 10 years old.
Floats mine — I will be in the OJ later this week 🙂
I know it’s one of your favourites, so sorry 😉
I am starting osmanthus week in Narciso Rodriguez EDT.
I didn’t realize osmanthus is in NR edt, I should drag out my bottle!
It’s almost like cheating, because I cannot say I really smell osmanthus here.
I wonder, as a perfume note, what it smells like, I’ll have to see if I can pick it out. I’ve got the NR Musc oil for her on, it may open differently from the edt but we’ll see!
Thanks Glannys and SmokeyToes, for mentioning that NR for Her has osmanthus! I thought I was going to be sitting out for this CP.
Oh you have it too! Awesome!
That’s one perfume I thoroughly disliked when I first tried it. I was completely in the SJP Lovely camp. One day it clicked.
Happy Monday all. 🙂 My SOTD is Narciso Rodriguez Musc oil for Her. And It has osmanthus in the notes.
Proper amount of coffee ingested, sunscreen and walking shoes on, and headed out for a four-mile walk. My goal is to walk at least three miles every day this week. I need exercise to lift my mood, getting out in nature should help.
I treated myself to Straus Family creamery strawberry ice cream over the weekend, I think it’s my top strawberry ice cream.
I finished Mrs. Lincoln’s Dressmaker and found it ‘meh’, I don’t know why. For all intensive purposes, I should have liked it but nope…
I’m about to start reading Orphan, Monster, Spy and the Fifth Season.
Everything Straus does is good. Yum.
Oh, and their whole-fat chocolate milk? It’s not safe for me to have that in the house….. I’ll drink the entire bottle in one sitting, preferably with a box of Cocoa Pebbles.
Oh yum. Promised Land has a dark chocolate whole milk, and I can’t really have that in the house either, so I understand!
Oh. Em. Gee. Even thinking about that is making me salivate a bit. Mmmmmmm.
I ordered new running shoes for this week, to keep with my 3 days of week of jogging/walking. I can’t jog the whole time, I blaming it on my shoes 😉
I am really loving the Elena Ferrante books, I am finding the second novel in the series even better than the first. To be fair, I am only 100 pages in.
I am thinking of pulling the trigger on the Alessandro d’acqua mini, what do you say?
I adore it, I would go for it! It has a little of everything, sandalwood, musk, florals (but not screechy)…. 😀
I purchased a pair of Hoka One One sneakers and although they were very expensive, they were well worth it. My feet and knees were so much more comfortable, less pain.
I will check out the books, thanks! 🙂
strawberry ice cream is so delicious, I want some now 😀
hope your walks are wonderful, outdoor exercise is one of my sanity-savers too.
Realized this morning I hadn’t checked NST all weekend! Will peruse today if I can.
I ventured downtown Saturday to see if they had my husband’s favorite jam at the Farmers Market. I actually rode the bus…pulled out the N95 for the ride and replaced with the surgical mask once I got off. Market was already closed, so I walked the two miles back home. Stopped at a deli to buy a couple cans of sparkling white peach hard ice tea. Pretty tasty.
Wearing Sylvaine Delacourte Vahina today for CP.
Totally would celebrate go barefoot day if I didn’t have cats who manage to get tiny bits of litter on the floor. I simply cannot vacuum after every visit to the box. I was a barefoot kid growing up. Any excuse to take the shoes off.
Hmmm… I’m liking this scent more than the first time I tried it. Its from her vanilla sample collection. I can smell it wafting a bit. Nice.
I put a relatively large, really plush, shaggy bath mat in front of my cat’s litter box, for this very reason. It doesn’t keep every single bit contained, but it does tend to limit the tracking area.
Good idea! I’m going to try that.
I enjoy being barefoot on the sand at the beach and in dense, clean grass. Feels so good!
My next weekend venture will be downtown but this weekend was out of the question. Glad you made it there and back ok.
As a kid, I was an idiot on the bare feet front. We belonged to a pool club for a few years. I would walk up the 1/2 mile or so in the am to the pool…barefoot. On the way home, I’d have to run from lawn to lawn because the asphalt was so hot. The days of poking melting tar in street cracks with your big toe…a distinctive smell.
Hot asphalt — ouch!
My aunt used to jump up and down on her toes. Today they’re a crippled mess. Kids…
I’m in the lingering traces of SB Smoked Ambergris. I may add more or switch it up in a bit.
Barefoot is a way of life in Florida. I can’t even remember the last time I wore closed shoes there…I’ll be heading back at the worst time of year (July) and I’m already dying just thinking about it. ?
Are you still enjoying your little cabin in the woods?
The pictures look wonderful and it seems such a haven of peace in these unsettling times.
Will you be going back to van life soon?
Yes, it’s a beautiful little nature retreat here. There’s a large house for rent next door, but the folks who planned to rent it for the month of June cancelled and I’m not sad about it. ?
I’m headed home in July in attempts to sell my house, which is why I started heading east in the first place before this whole covid mess blew up. I’m a bit concerned about that, but I have a neighbor who is in real estate and she told me the market is still booming down there, so we shall see.
I’m honestly not sure what will happen next. Many hospitals here are still not fully open and travel assignment listings have decreased dramatically. I can imagine this will go on for quite a while as hospitals continue to cut spending in an effort to recoup profits lost during the covid closure time. Many small rural hospitals may completely close because they were barely surviving before this. Smaller nurse travel agencies may go under as well. Admin in most facilities are still taking full pay with bonuses. The CEO of this company proudly announced he was taking a 5% cut through the end of June. Such a sacrifice! ?
The hospital I’m currently at cancelled all the travel nurses on day shift. I was waiting to be cancelled myself, but so far this hasn’t happened. They’ve replaced all the seasoned travelers (and there were many!) with new nursing school graduates beginning in July.
There is a lot of dissension at this facility because staff is considering unionizing, leading to friction and animosity between staff and admin. Just spoke this week with a day traveler whose assignment was cancelled, but he had applied for a staff position weeks ago to start after his contract was completed in June. He is pro-union and was told they have no place for him in the hospital on any unit or shift.
So who knows? Everything is up in the air. I’m just taking it day by day. More than you ever wanted to know! ?
Actually not. It’s interesting and sad. I hope you can work your way through this, as I have no doubt you will.
Wouldn’t it be great if you could just chuck nursing and become a park ranger for a couple of years?
It’s very sad. This hospital used to be non-profit but was bought out about a year ago by a huge for profit hospital system. They fired almost all the folks in management positions and about 25% of staff,
then replaced them with lower paid people. Also forced out many physicians who didn’t join their “group.” It’s all pretty ugly, and the bottom line is, as always, decreased q patient quality of care.
That’s all very interesting to read! And Florida in July is my personal worst of everything – weather, insects, too many people in many areas, sharks. But the seafood is wonderful 🙂
It’s my personal worst too! Not looking forward to it, but I’ve put it off too long now…?
We actually got booted from in-pt early because they had all the travelers whose contracts they needed to honor and finish out. I’m sure some states who have little regard for the virus and cdc guidelines will be calling for travelers in the coming months.
But, here, overall hospital admissions are down in part because people were/are avoiding the hospital for non covid reasons and covid admissions are way down. Our census is frightfully low at the moment.
In-patient Covid cases here are increasing, as well as PUI’s. They’ve restarted elective surgeries, but they have hired a boatload of graduate RN’s to replace the travelers. Good luck to them!
I had a man yell at me in the grocery store yesterday because I accidentally went the wrong way. I stepped aside to let him pass when he started in on me. Him: “You’re going the WRONG way!”
Me: “And you’re not wearing a mask.” Ugh, so sick of everyone, I’m ready to run into the woods and live with the ?’s !
Sorry to laugh, but I’m just picturing that scene. Ugh.
Well, don’t go all Grizzly Man now. Things didn’t end well for that guy. But I catch your drift.
Good morning Y’all….
Lost Cherry by Tom Ford. Good name for it, because the cherry scent is lost and gone on my skin after 5 minutes. Would never pay for a full bottle. Skin chemistry attacks it I guess? 🙂
Thanks for the mini-review…I was curious about this one but no longer am. Not having to pursue samples is kind of a relief. 😉
Some of the reviewers on Basenotes say it has great longevity, so it might just be me? But seriously….5 minutes and it’s pretty much gone! It’s too expensive to have to overspray or take everywhere to reapply….
I thought the cherry was gone quickly as well..however, I still want a decant lol.
I’d be happy to mail out my decant to you! Seriously….I will never use it and want someone else to try it. Maybe it will work for you! Email me at jadwae99 @ gmail and I’ll get it out to ya! It’s a FragranceNet decant….8ml I think! 🙂
It lasts a long time on me, even one spritz.
June 1! Wow, half the year is nearly gone. Crazy.
Also in a Memo scent today: Winter Palace
Didn’t expect the cool temp when I stepped out for my walk this morn — 52 degrees! Quite a switch from yesterday and the weekend. Felt nice and I just love the quiet and stillness so early in the day.
I ran across the street to mail a card and was struck how fresh the air seemed. Just lovely.
The weather is gorgeous.
You smell great! Wore Winter Palace yesterday.
Smelling fine in Boucheron Vanille de Zanzibar today.
I don’t watch any news and right now it’s hard to stomach even reading the news.? Trying to stay hopeful but think I may need a good, emotional cry later today. ??
Reading book 5 of the Ruth Galloway series and will be hiding out in that alternate universe with those lovely characters for the foreseeable future if anyone needs me.?
yes, we are avoiding reading the news, or poor newspaper gets no love these days and we don’t have cable so there is that.
I have no words only tears. You are not alone..
With you 100%. I make Mr. G wear headphones to watch tv – his coping strategy is to amass as many facts as he can and then analyze them, and mine is shutting out reality and disappearing into some alternate world. Right now it’s Pride and Prejudice’s Hertfordshire.
I’m with you!
My small town had its biggest protest ever this morning, 500 people. Police knelt with the crowd for the whole 9 minutes at the start. Seeing all the people out, all peaceful, all wearing masks, made me feel very hopeful.
I know it must feel very different and more hopeless in other places.
Pleasantly surprised at what happened with the protests in Camden… the police came out and joined the marchers. A sign of hope?
I just looked at pictures…yep, right in front holding banners. Nice.
Biggest hugs to you.
Woke up much later than anticipated today. My family and I went walking around Zoar yesterday. Going into work today with a smidgen on no 5. Packed up my leaky bottle for the mailman to pick up tomorrow. There never seems to be enough time to do anything anymore.
Dawn, I agree, there is less time!
Hello friends, kicking off June in AG Vetiver and a very heavy heart. I wish you all peace and safety and justice, though it often feels like you cannot have all three nowadays.
Hugs Koyel ❤️
Take care dear heart. ?
I share your heavy heart,
Hugs Koyel.
Hello June! Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit!
Happy International Children’s Day! We are all children so everyone should celebrate today 🙂
Starting new month with Clementine California from Atelier Cologne.
Cute idea.
You smell great! In the next couple of days, as we’ll have the next heat wave, I’ll probably also wear it.
I’m wearing Tuberose Gardenia this morning, with nothing on the day planner except mowing the lawn and taking a walk. I’ve had to cut back on baking because I was gaining weight; usually I give my baked goods away but can’t now.
I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that my city is tentatively opening on June 12 but NYC is opening June 8. Oregon in total had fewer than 4200 cases. So odd.
Nothing makes sense right now. I’m keeping Bertie Wooster in my thoughts. ?
In Azemour les Oranges today. Went with bright red nail polish for this week, and it’s going to clash horrendously with the bright magenta tights I plan to wear for pilates today. Oh well. 🙂
Azemour goodness!
Jo Malone BlackBerry & Bay.
A cup of Häagen-Dazz Spirits Stout Chocolate Pretzel Crunch ice cream. Trying to sweeten life a bit, but not sure it is working today.
Have a healthy and peaceful beginning of June everyone! ?
I have ice cream envy right now. ?
Ha! This flavor with the small pieces of pretzels is really good! Passing you some! ???
That ice cream sounds so dope!
I have liked all the Spirits from the brand so far. The pretzels on the Stout enhaces the flavor a lot!
I am trying my hardest to resist the siren song of those ice creams, but you might get an enabler pin for some in the near future! ?
(For the record, I have already tried the Rum Tres Leches ice cream and like it far too much!)
Isn’t the 3 Leches good? I am still looking for the Rosé & Cream, but I have not found it yet. It sounds delish! ?
I missed the poll on Saturday so am spending some time today reading everyone’s responses. Indiana has a 5 stage reopening plan with 5 being open everything: Stage 4 starts 6/16. The COVID cases in my county are continuing to double every 2 wks and was mentioned in the NYT has one of the 10 outbreak areas to watch. The health dept just put out an alert on FB but few people are still wearing masks etc as it is “strongly suggested,” what does that even mean? You can’t enforce a suggestion. This county, primarily my town, is the top trailer & RV producer in the world and the factories all quietly stayed open thru the quarantine without putting safety precautions in place bcs of the ol’ bottom line, it’s impossible to social distance on an assembly line. 32, 000 people live here but 55,000 work here, including many non English speaking residents who often have no access to area information.
Rant over, it’s just worrying and my heart breaks for everyone across the US. And world.
Wearing Allure edt because I wore it yesterday and it smelled so good, like a warm spring day. Watching Holderness Family videos, which I discovered recently, listening to old Motown and making Quiche Lorraine for dinner. Thanks for listening, NST ❤️
So many people put in harms way for the almighty dollar. Sickening. However, the Quiche Lorraine sounds fantastic! ?
Like Deva said, sickening. And exploitative. But sadly not surprising.
Ringthing are they testing at the factory?
Not that I know of. I saw on in.gov that an employee questioned the governor why travel trailers were classified as essential, that was in late April. No response except for other employees asking the same.
How heart-breaking. Crossing my fingers for limited spread, despite the lack of precautions. 🙁
Oh dear. Seems like that would just backfire.
Ugh! Just like at the meat packers. It’s required here when indoors at a public place but I get super-annoyed when I see masks below nose and / or chin — what is the point. Also, people who cannot stop talking in their cell so they can get in and out quickly. And don’t get me started on the guy with his mask on, singing at the top of his lungs and whirling around with his outstretched arms.
That image is funny and infuriating! Meat packing plants have to be the worst – working in a giant refrigerator (viruses like a cool environment) with so much equipment running that you have to shout to be heard (more droplets) and no one is giving those workers PPE. Again, there’s no room to social distance on an assembly line.
I went with Amouage Journey Woman for my osmanthus perfume of the day. I like this blend of honey, osmanthus, and mimosa. I will probably finish my manufacturer’s spray sample today, and gosh the bottle of this is really attractive. However, it’s pretty low on the priority list at the moment. FragranceNet has a 100ml bottle for a great price, but I don’t need that big of a bottle. I wish Amouage would make 15ml or 30ml bottles. Yes, I’m dreaming there.
This weekend my boyfriend and I did a lot of cleaning, mostly yesterday. I love having a cleaner apartment. This also led me to take a shower late yesterday when I’m usually a morning showerer. So I slept in this morning, which was much needed due to lots of tossing and turning by both me and my boyfriend. It seems neither of us sleeps well on Sunday nights. Since I didn’t have a shower to wake me up this morning, I think I’ll be drinking more coffee than usual. Oh, speaking of coffee, I wore Civet on Saturday. It has a fantastic coffee note. I really, really love Civet and a couple sprays last all day.
I don’t have the right words to express how the events of late last week and this weekend have made me feel. So I won’t try. I do know I want to be a better ally. I feel a lot of cowardice in approaching certain topics with my family. I’m not even sure there’s a point, especially with cousins I’ve never been close with and never will be close with. I already challenged one cousin on a Facebook post last month and hated the whole thing. A quick note: I live really far away from my family except for an aunt and uncle that live in the same city as I do. I live really far away from my family purposefully. I definitely want to spend minimal time on FB this week. I never feel happier by going on FB. If it wasn’t for some perfume groups and occasionally getting to see pictures of my nephew, I would just leave it altogether.
Sorry, I wrote a story this morning!
Civet is really pretty! You smell wonderful. I am sorry about your Facebook conundrum. I think a good, healthy scrubbing of one’s Friends list is always warranted! Politics and family is such a can of worms, I can totally relate.
I once had a co-worker who was FB addicted, if there is such a thing. I got such a kick out of the fact that EVERY SINGLE PHOTO attached to her account was a photo of HER, with all “extraneous” people being cropped out. Hundreds and hundreds of photos of just her. ?
Yikes!
I had to join Facebook in August to get access to an AP teachers group. My instructor for AP training had to vouch for me because they didn’t believe a teacher could exist without a Facebook account. Aside from amazing shared curriculum, nothing on Facebook has improved my life in the slightest.
I have a FB account that’s maybe 13 years old, has maybe 7 posts (the most recent maybe 12 years old) and which I only keep because random groups or teachers use it to post videos. I would happily cancel. Completely agree with your assessment of the platform.
Bought Espirit d’Oscar at the drugstore for 20 bucks this weekend and am wearing it today. I’ve never understood why this one wasn’t a big hit, or why it sells for so cheap now. It’s better than 90% of expensive niche offerings. A kind of warm, gently spiced take on L’Heure Bleu.
It is just fantastic! I have finished one bottle and am on my second. A great fragrance for hot weather.
That is a good one!
Ava Luxe Milk EdP for the World Milk Day: pleasant warm sweet vanilla perfume, available both in EdP and oil versions (they smell identical, so you can choose what works for you).
Perfect Undina!
I rabbited ? ?? so I hope I’m covered for June ?!
SOTD = Masque Milano L’Attesa
Very nice!

Re: Osmanthus – I’ll watch in the sidelines for inspiration and will participate in Friday. I don’t think I have any osmanthus-forward perfumes, possibly because my factory impression is it makes perfumes smell like a wet basement … not moldy, just musty.
In other news, I finally got light filtering (as in blackout) curtains for the kitchen. It was in a darker fabric than I intended but I really wanted to get them this weekend so I settled for it – it’s a nice contrast to the light mocha walls. I’m glad I did because it worked to remove the bright light that washes out my face whenever I’m on a video call. And speaking of video calls, I hope to have time to share some more Zoom tips (mostly don’t s) tomorrow.
I use black out curtains between the van cab and living area. With the camper top windows open and the vent van on, the living area is a good 10-15 degrees cooler. Plus, at night, no one can see light spilling into the cab area.
It’s a good idea in terms of energy efficiency. I keep the sides open to let in the light. It’s definitely working as far as I can see.
Looking forward to your Zoom tips!
One or two are truly to be avoided!
You smell regal in L’Attesa!
I love me some osmanthus, like Pd’E Osmanthus Interdit, OJ Osmanthus Elixir, Berdoues Peng Lai or NVC Rahele 🙂
Oooh, I’m putting Peng Lai on the list for the week. Thank you, lucasai!
Thanks… and I just realized I have Atelier Love Osmathus!
And that’s what I haven’t even tried yet…
You smell … what Lucas said 🙂
Haha! I had forgotten how much I enjoy this fragrance I just recently unearthed it.
L’Attesa is very elegant, even for an iris
LOL, the qualifier ?
Have you seen RoomRater on Twitter—the guy who rates rooms as backgrounds on Zoom appearances? It’s all tongue-in-cheek and he raises money for a good cause. His comments are often hilarious. I hardly do any Zoom meetings but find ,yes, I
find myself wanting to arrange my setup so I could get a good score from him! He rates art works, lamps, plants, furniture, pets, fruit bowls, bookshelves, etc. And curtains, which is why I thought of him here.
I have … but he is also not objective. When he is, he makes good points.
Are Mondays “Bottle Porn Day” for your Instagram? Because today’s post certainly qualified. ?
I have not picked a particular day of the week or a bottle porn week. I’ve decided that random is best!
Wearing Auphorie Miyako which is the most realistic Osmanthus I know of and peach and leather. I should have purchased it when it was $110.00 a bottle. It is now $228.00.
Perfume prices have gotten out of control, haven’t they?
Another month starts but it’s a bit of a blur lately. Have added some diazepam to my psin killer back medication so with it and codeine I am in a zen like state, I could get used to feeling like this every day, to be honest. Still no rain (sigh).
In the Anais Anais Premier Delice, chocolate over pear and flowers and it manages to be not sickly at all, just bright and delicious.
Aurora, I could use some codeine I’m sure…but I sure hope your back improves this week.
Thank you Robin, codeine and diazepam make everything better? much less stiff and less pain today.
I hope you feel better soon!
Thank you sistine, better today.
Sorry to hear that your back is still being uncooperative. ?
Thank you Jalapeno, better today.
I don’t believe there are any osmanthus scents in my stash so I went with vintage My Sin today.
How is it Monday (Blursday) again?
Seriously, I was wondering the same thing.
rabbit rabbit rabbit.
commando
Seeking Bogue MEM post gardening.
ahh, MEM is just the thing after gardening ?
Still working my way through samples as part of my ongoing plan to wear three perfumes a day while I’m working from home. I’m going to start today in Mona di Orio’s Rose Etoile de Holland. I really wanted to like this, because my mother has that rose and it smells glorious, I keep trying it but the perfume hasn’t worked for me so far 🙂
Sounds like you should get the bush instead!
Not too keen on Go Barefoot Day ( except for in the shower) as it’s pretty cold and icy. In fact, my shoes of choice are merino wool (Allbirds) which are like lightweight jogging/city shoes and so soft and cosy. Still on my second cup of coffee and waiting for the sun to come up. Joining the Amouage Journey gang today. Have a better week everyone!
Are those the wool runner up mizzles?
I have “wool runners.”. The ” mizzles ” are wool runners that are waterproof and I haven’t tried them yet. I do get wet toes walking across wet grass in my wool runners but they dry quickly. I have had my shoes for a couple of years and they have worn well. They don’t have much tread on the soles so are no good on steep, rough tracks but are fine on gravel , pathways etc. i don’t wear socks with them.
The slip-on ( without laces ) are not as good for distance walking as they slip off the heel a bit.
your Allbirds sound perfect for cold weather walking. I wear wool socks in winter, they’re toasty warm.
I have possum mink socks! Made from possum/wool mix . Very soft like rabbit. Possum is a pest species here
SotD = Jo Malone Honey & Crocus
so pretty it practically breaks my heart, truly amazing. I have tears in my eyes.
thank you to the wonderful swap friend who shared Honey & Crocus with me!
and thank you to Robin for enabling and to everyone who joined the swapmeet. Many more folks were willing to swap decants than I expected, which was a sweet surprise.
stay safe, fragrance friends, you are important to me.
Peace, health and safety to you tiffanie.
thank you, sistine, right back at you!
Isn’t it wonderful when a perfume moves you that much?
gosh, yes, and I really feel lucky it happened today.
I like Honey and Crocus too. The Honeysuckle /Davana one is nice too in summer
wow, honeysuckle is one of my favorite notes, I’ll have to look for that Jo Malone.
???!
It’s a gorgeous day here, weather wise. I spent a little time outdoors today enjoying the sun and mild temps. Need to do that more often, I think.
SOTD = Soivohle Fig Black Tea perfume oil, from the sample stash. This is a strange one… rather medicinal top note to it. Yet comforting too. I’m still figuring it out.
Working on my samples too – in Ferre, which I only wear at the office, but it’s working quite well at the dining room table…
I’m in Thomas Kosmala Frenesie, a Luckyscent sample that has osmanthus listed in the notes. It’s a light floral with some light oud, if there is such a thing.
I like this one. There’s some apricot suede stuff going on here, and if that’s osmanthus, I like the note! I’m going to make a concerted effort to dig up some samples for the cp this week, and be less of a fragrance flibbertigibbet. ?
Yes, I think you’re on the nose about apricot suede = osmanthus
A will-o’-the-wisp? A clown?
Could be! ?
How do you hold a moonbeam… ?
SOTD was some Paris-Venise body lotion from a kind NSTer in the swap meet. I think I like more than the perfume (of which she also sent a decant)! It seems like the citrus notes are more prominent and longer-lasting than in the perfume.
Oooh, that lotion sounds so good! You smell great!
I need to read about osmanthus notes to see what I have here for the project. I’m wearing Calligraphy today and enjoying it. My new resolution is to clean one thing in my house each day. By the time I’ve worked from top to bottom, including cat boxes and porches, it’s time to start again. But if I do nothing it all mounts up and gets too overwhelming to tackle.
I need to get back to that, Calypso. I was doing that, cleaning something, anything, at the start of the lockdown. My floors especially need some attention.
You smell great in Calligraphy!
I really should do that! Instead my resolution seems to be to paint at least one thing every day….so house is slowly looking newly painted but rather messy 🙂
I’m wearing “Calling All Angels”, thanks to the lovely hajusuuri. The name is apt. Avoiding the news- just hurts too much:(
It is hard to watch, for sure.
You smell great!
In Rodin Bis which slides a little higher up in my “is this my #1?” column each time I wear it.
Man, it’s been a week… I’m American by origin, so I’ve been reading ALL the news and social media posts. I’m removed from it physically by being in Canada, so I feel like I need to not check out online just because I can. My sincerest feelings are with those of you living through it all.
My weekend/Monday: the temperature plunged from humidex 35-40 last week to 9°C.
I immediately cranked the oven back on, made bread and pizza, a lentil potato stew, baked a whole trout, and today made some more Hawaiian butter mochi.
Wow, I want to eat at your house teebear.
I want to able to swing from the rafters in my house! But cooking will have to do for now ?
I’m really hoping Montreal will open up playgrounds soon, so I can use the outdoor fitness center near my apartment which has some pull-up bars.
I’m wearing Wood Sage and Sea Salt today for comfort. I don’t want to detail why I am sad, angry, scared and anxious so I will just leave it at that.
My biggest hugs to everyone. Whether you think you need them or not. But for anyone who needs concrete actions and actual allyship, please know I am working as hard as I can. (You still get hugs of course.).
house twins!
hugs to you, sistine,
and thank you for being here today.
Hugs are always welcome sistine.
Hugs, sistine.
And you smell wonderful.
We all need hugs today, whether we admit it or not, sistine. I hope you get some quiet time tonight. ?
Thanks for the hugs and the action!
May I offer my virtual hug in return?
You smelled wonderful.
Good evening!
Scents this morning were TDC Kashan Rose and Pacifica Tuscan Blood Orange — the smell of making decants again. 🙂
This evening: trying a decant I swapped for, Roger & Gallet Fleur d’Osmanthus. I like it. (Thank you!) I was so sleepy when typing to ask about swapping that I couldn’t remember what I’d asked for. I was like, “Okay, if my brain is at least half-asleep, I need to step away from the keyboard, go to bed, and try again in the morning.” I remembered what I’d offered, which is the important part.
And I finally got to the post office today with swap packages to send on their way! It’s not like I’m super-busy in general, but if I’ve gone out grocery shopping, I come home exhausted. I knew it would take me a while to be able to work in a trip to the post office.
I went to Wegman’s afterward. It was a pretty successful trip in that I found the things I wanted and the things Mom and Dad wanted. I got to Wegman’s a little before noon, and there wasn’t a line to get into the store, but a number of other shoppers were pretty aggressive about darting in front of me to pick things off the shelves. I don’t go to Wegman’s that often, so it takes me a little while to figure out where the things I’m searching for are. I was exhausted when I got home, as usual.
After a nap, I planted more of my flowers and herbs. I got a lot more of that done today than I thought I’d be able to do.
I’ve been watching CNN in the evenings, and the news has been sad and disturbing. As I wrote late the other evening, I’ve got to be more outspoken about letting other white people know that I don’t think that their casually racist or xenophobic comments are okay. The main reason I quit the garden club I was in was that a number of the privileged white ladies who were members didn’t think to check their privilege. Some would start sentences like, “I don’t want to sound like a racist, but…” I didn’t want to hear the rest of any sentence that started like that. I’m happier doing my own thing and having friends who have a variety of life experiences and realize that there’s more than only one legitimate point of view about life, society, etc.
You got so much done today!
I’m very sorry, neyronrose. It’s a painful time on so many levels. Please take good care. Hugs!
Oh, I’m fortunate compared to many, I think. I quit the garden club in early 2016, so it’s been a while for that. I heard one of the ladies at the Christmas party saying something about immigrants in a nasty tone of voice, and others saying how you couldn’t just say “Merry Christmas” universally anymore because Jews had ruined that as a holiday greeting. I was done.
Hugs to all who need them. It has been a painful time on a lot of levels lately, yes. Take care, folks!
Thank you, neyronrose! There must be a record number of people in the history of the world needing hugs right now.
I’ve been wearing a lot of the first Diptyque Essences Insensees, the mimosa one in the peacock feather bottle. Doesn’t last long but I’m at home so I can easily refresh. ?
I have at least three osmanthus fragrances, and I love osmanthus, so this will be a good week.
I always wanted to try that Essences Insensees with mimosa.
It’s so good, Lucas, and very fresh, in a good way — perhaps not too feminine for a guy if it weren’t for the girlie atomizer bottle. It’s too bad it was a limited edition.
We can’t ship perfume internationally but if you can ever find someone in Europe to swap a sample with, this one is worth it.
