It's Hump Day! Birthdays today: Sigmund Freud, Willie Mays, George Clooney. Two quick PSAs: the Haiku challenge is coming up on Saturday, and we'll try a Swapmeet the following week (May 16). What fragrance are you wearing?
I went with Thierry Mugler Oriental Express, which I included in 5 perfumes: iris fragrances for fall.
Reminder: 5/8 is Iris Day, so we'll repeat our project from 2016... wear an iris fragrance, if you have one.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2020, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: image is Pink Iris [background extended] by rick ligthelm at flickr; some rights reserved.
Yikes! Robin, thanks for reminding me about the Haiku challenge. I need to start working on it. And I love the name of your perfume.
I am wearing Heeley Iris de Nuit. While I do not care for its carroty opening, on me, fortunately, the carrot note disappears in a few minutes. After that, Iris de Nuit smells lovely: a green musky iris/violet combo. Fresh and refined.
I think we should do covid-19 haiku too!
Excellent idea! I’m not good at haikus, but I love reading them.
good idea!
So is this week’s haiku challenge covid-themed? Or are we going to do a sepearate haiku challenge for covid-19?
I think we should combine cover and perfume into haikus. I am already planning…
I hope it won’t get political!
We will do both, and I will add an extra warning about not talking politics!
That sounds gorgeous!
This was the first Iris I ever tried and I did not care for it at all. Now that I’m an unabashed iris head, I should seek it out again.
Oriental Express is a wonderful perfume! I never thought of it as iris, so I may need to test that out for myself today.
Speaking of Mugler, I’m not sure how this crazy collector bottle works, but I have to have one:
https://www.muglerusa.com/fragrance/womens-perfumes/alien/perfumes/alien-eau-de-parfum-collector-80056636.html?LGWCODE=80056636;37114;2082&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIvL6nla6f6QIVD-DICh0kwgOhEAQYBCABEgJCHvD_BwE
Wow, that bottle is a stunner.
It sure is!?
Also interesting: this Mugler Magazine article explains the origins of Mugler Cologne:
https://www.muglerusa.com/article?fdid=mugler-mag-inspiration&aid=article-mugler-mag-les-secrets-cologne&cgid=mugler-mag
nice read…I love Mugler cologne, I love all those rainbow bottles too, I wish I had them all
A little “Mars Attacks!” action going on there….
yes!
It’s been a challenge for me to not get this bottle.
You’re the first one I thought of when I saw it. Just sayin.?
Hahaha!! Me too! First thought: that has lillyjo written all over it
GET
IT
?
?
?
Stop it! Lol ? I actually have a twenty percent off coupon I’ve been sitting on…
Me too! And I don’t even wear Alien.
Gosh I hate Alien but that Rainbow Brite bottle..so awesome:)
Rainbow Brite!
That absolutely looks like an alien king wearing an awesome cloak, I love it.
OMG! Get that bottle! It is dreamy and the price is unbeatable!
Aahh!! I’m starting to cave!
I’m also wanting to blind buy the new alien mirage, which is a pretty bottle and much better priced.
Why not buy both in order to take full advantage of that 20% off coupon? ?
STOP! You guys are killing me ?
And by stop, I mean keep enabling ?
Ohhh, *WANT*
Wow! That’s some rainbow 🙂
Ooo! I have Oriental Express. I will give a spritz tonight.
Early morning Paprika Brasil which for me is iris. Post shower Brit parfum which I may wear all week.
You smell great. 🙂 I will wear Oriental Express this week too.
Thank you ??
Maybe we will be scent twins with Oriental Express
Glad to hear that you are enjoying that sugared almond note in Brit.
??
I’ve been enjoying iris week! Today it’s Bas de Soie, perfect for a beautiful but chilly spring day.
Hey, scent twins! I was actually able to make a perfume decision this morning, as opposed to just spritzing on the big bottle of Bulgari blue tea as a stop-gap.
I am still inspired by our conversations about wearing rings. Today I am in a ring called love knot.
i would wear mine more if i did not have to wash and disinfect my hands at work so often
Heure Exquise ..many sprays
Love iris week and my irises are still alive and blooming in a beautiful vase.
Sampling more Vahdam teas..Earl Grey Masala Chai
Robin-we are watching the bonsai video this morning, you posted days ago. Kids loved it.
So glad!
And just left you more links in today’s video post!
Oh, it is a good one. You smell exquisite. 😉
Annick Goutal is one of my favorite houses. Though I haven’t smelled anything since they did the bottle change and got bought out. And then they closed all their shops here. Have you?
I tried Vanille Charnelle, 1001 Ouds and Étoile d’Une Nuit. Meh about Vanille Charnell, disliked 1001 Ouds, but like Étoile d’Une Nuit. I wore the latter yesterday. I only wish it were stronger and lasted longer.
Thanks for letting me know!
I remember testing Hadrian after the AG bottle change, it smelled flat.
Boo..
Wore HE yesterday. LT describes it as pillowy.
is Pillowy a good or bad thing?
In the best sense of luxurious down pillows in silk satin cases, I think.
It has some lasting power, don’t you think? I sprayed this morning and its still going strong.
Agree, Lovestosmellgood!
Iris is a fixative, after all.
Heure Exquise, inspired by lovetosmellgood. A little decant that must have come in a swap or freebie.
Robin, I’m excited about the swapmeet – it will feel like doing something “normal”. I also found out that our campus post office is fully operational so my mailings will be super easy.
I’ve missed commenting here – but today I have time, because our university learning software platform crashed and nobody can access anything!
I’m glad! I’m not sure we’ll have our usual level of participation, but hopefully people who want to swap will find partners 🙂
It might be interesting – more of a “wild card” swap maybe.
Twins! Didn’t really know it had Iris in it, thanks for the inspiration!
Heure Exquise is one of my all-time favorite perfumes. You smell … exquisite! 🙂
Twins! We smell suuuuper good.
we do twin!
Heure Exquise is gorgeous, and perfect for almost any weather.
Lovely image!
Black Cashmere for me today.
PSA: Online Nest Sample Sale starts tomorrow here: https://www.260samplesale.com/shop-online-1/nest-fragrances-online-sample-sale
That photographer, Rick Ligthelm, is a regular here, and not even on purpose…when I go looking for good flower images, his often pop up.
In copious amounts of Parle Moi de Parfume Orris Tattoo. Perfect for a cold, gloomy and boring spring day. Ready for my 2nd cup of coffee and a slice of bread pudding.
Happy Humpday!
Sounds like you got my yesterdays weather, it’s sunny today! I’ll try and send it your way!?
PLEASE!!!! Send your beautiful sunny day here! ?????
It has to come by me first! ??
Ha, this is true?, do you have sun today???
Ok, but do not keep it for too long! ??
I will try!???
I have a cloud/sun mix. I will take it though, looks like sleet this weekend.
Sleet???? ??Oh boy! Do not send it here!
You should have my sun by then?
Weather is outrageous, my husband left for work in a flannel shirt and light down jacket. It’s May, that’s just wrong.
That is wrong. I got an uneven sunburn yesterday, one side of my body decided to bake more than the other lol.
Everything is wrong this year! No spring temps at all and summer is just around the corner. I hope we do not jump from the 40’s/50’s right into the 90’s. Not that I would complain if that happens, but still some transition weather would be very welcome!
Yeah 2020 can just f#%^ off at this point. Grrr
From the beginning to the end 2020 was, is and will be the worst mess ever!
?
We had 30 degrees this morning.
Pass me a slice of your ? pudding please!!!
Pretty cold morning for you! We will have a max of 45 on Saturday. It will be cloudy and with high winds, meaning it may feel in the 30’s. Mad, sick and tired of winter temps already! ?
Passing you a slice of bread pudding!
I know. I am tired of everything about 2020
Thanks for the slice ?
Almost twins with you. My hand went to L’Attesa instead!
You smell terrific!
L’Atessa is on my top 3 favorite iris perfumes! I adore it!
Glossier You, which has grown on me the last couple of times I’ve worn it. I don’t need a bottle but I’ll finish my decant.
The sun is out!?The starbucks nearest me has reopened their drivethru!? I will be drinking a proper chai tea latte very shortly. My husband has suggested (more than once?) that I get a frother and try to make my own, but….that would defeat the whole point. It always tastes better when someone else makes it.
p.s. would anyone be interested in a 10 Corso Como split? Really looking for an excuse to buy a bottle, lol.
The Glossier You bottle reminds me of the little plastic milk bottle toys when I was a kid. From pictures, anyway.
Oh my gosh, yes! The kind with the fake milk that as you fed the baby it would bubble and appear to go down in level? I had one of those! I haven’t thought about them in ages. My parents probably still have them packed away in their pole barn somewhere.?(I kid you not)
I had a few of those actually. And it wouldn’t surprise me if my parents kept them as well.
Hey, I’d take 10 mls off you of CC! Will leave my email here, in case it works out. ann dottie eisenberg attagirl comcast dottie net
Cool! I’ll write down your email and hope that a splitmeet will happen!?
Yes to 10CC!!! Please!
And agree, some things just taste better when someone else makes it for you. 🙂
Okay!? You guys have given me a reason the get a bottle, lol. Hopefully there will be a splitmeet at the end of the month! I’ve still got your email.??
Argh i keep forgetting about the cp.
I love iris and i have plenty of it to participate.
But wanted to try something new today.
Noir Patchouli by Histoires de Parfums
With that name I was expecting an earthy dark patchouli, but its all ‘ladies boudoir’ to me….. soap, powder, hairspray. ? A hint of leather after a few hours.
Its nice but not a big like or love.
This sounds good to me, except for the hairspray.
Well, it is not one of those harsh and sharp smelling hairsprays. But one they made pretty.
It also reminds me of other hair products (shampoo), but cannot pinpoint what note(s) trigger this association.
I wonder why they called this Noir Patchouli….
Patchouli! Yesterday I made my first FB blind purchase in years–Montale’s Patchouli Leaves. I was really craving an earthy patch. Nobody tell me I made a mistake—its done.
I would not know, sorry (Montale is a brand I havent explored yet)
But I hope its everything you want it to be! ?
PL is very good! If I ever buy a Montale it would probably be that one. I haven’t tried that many, but from what I’ve tried they were not quite what I like.
That actually sounds good to me! I bet you smell great!
I actually rather like Noir Patchouli, but it isn’t very noir at all.
Montale’s Patchouli Leaves is excellent, I highly recommend it.
Yup with that name I expected an earthy and damp gothic patchouli haha. So it turned out to be more ‘Fluffy patchouli’, not bad, but I did not even get a lot of patchouli actually ?
Maybe i need to spray more next time? (I applied two sprays in my neck and one on the wrist)
I read some comments on Patchouli Leaves on fragrantica and it sounds pretty good!
I’m wearing Infusion d’Iris Absolue.
That’s nice one. The original I found quite snoozy, but a friend assured me this was Somthing Else, and indeed it was.
I will also wear that one this week.
Wait, what day are we on..Do I have time for all my iris perfumes!
I long ago drained a sample of that one but wish I had more. It’s truly wonderful! You smell great!
Thanks to Lisa D, I’m trying out Joop! Le Bain. I’m liking it. It has a silky powderiness on me.
My work sent out an email about reopening after the 15th. Including a list of things they will do to keep us safe. I am not impressed with the list. I expressed my concerns to my store manager, for whatever they are worth.
Cash is king. So much lip service from CEO’s, management and other admin during this time. And of course, they are not in positions of danger. I hope they are allowing and providing you with masks to wear while working.
The email said we will be required to wear masks, but they will be providing gloves. So…
I don’t even have a mask, I’ve been using a scarf.
Masks are your friend, lillyjo. The NYT has more than one article about how to make them:
https://www.nytimes.com/article/how-to-make-face-mask-coronavirus.html
You could also wrap your scarf over it, if that would be more stylish.
In the other day when I took the kids for a walk in one of the parks a park employee had a basket and handed out a packet of cotton masks that are washable. He let me take some to my neighbor (she is retired and not sure what her masks stash looks like so I left a packet outside her door)
For someone who wore a mask, shoe coverings, and a hair bonnet for 14 years before my promotion to SAHM, I can say that the best mask is one that ties around your head, and not the loops around the ears. So if you have a hanky/cotton that you can tie around your head you maybe more comfortable in that for your work day than a loopy ear one, IMHO.
I’ve been using a scarf too, or rather a variety of scarves.
Deva I love the term “lip service” I haven’t used that one/heard that one in awhile.
LTSG, I’m old. ?
HA!
Old twins!
Open for curbside pickup or actual retail shopping? We are closed til the 26th here. I’m glad you emailed your manager, I’m sure you weren’t the only one. Like Deva said, hope they will be providing masks.
Regular retail. We are Stay at Home until the 15th. The governor is trying to open things slowly, so maybe she won’t let us open. I’m just waiting to see.
I’ve always wondered about Le Bain, good to know.
It reminds me of Eden in style.
Oh, then I must try it.
Please let me know if you need masks. I may have access to some and can send you a few cloth ones to help supplement any you can find. 🙂
I will, thanks!
I couldn’t stand it anymore, so I went at the rat’s nest on top of my head with some scissors. Not too bad. Not the greatest cut of all time, but neither is it disastrous. It has, at the least, gotten rid of the extra-dry and crackly ends that were bothering me.
I do not have a lot of iris perfume options, but I seem to recall a little travel roll-on of Iris Nobile Sublime somewhere in the perfume cabinet. I might save that for Friday.
Happy hump day, all!
I did the same with my hair. It looks better! My ends were a hot mess. Luckily, my hair is pretty wavy so the uneven length I ended up with is not very apparent. ??
Wow! that’s a bold move, glad it’s gone. We all get rat’s nests in my house. My daughter asked if we could call it a “bird’s nest”.
I’m with her– or ‘spun sugar’ or some such.
My boys have all sorts of names for things we don’t love in our lives!
Oh I love that! She would love it too, I think I’ll try calling it spun sugar, or maybe cotton candy head 🙂 I’d love to hear other euphemisms if you happen to sprinkle them into your comments 🙂
Bah! Unfortunately, right now I can only think of ones from when my youngest was very sick. His name for his nightly injection was “shocker”; his little tub for when he was going to be sick was an “uh oh”. Oh ya– okay, a 5 o’clock shadow at 7 am that needs to be shaved is a “Shaggy”, a temper tantrum is a “Vivian Leigh”, a messy room is a “dust up”, and for reasons that have been lost through the mists of time, a table napkin is a “napikon”– there are others, of course, but those are the ones that come to mind.
Can’t wrap my nose around iris fragrances, although they are my favorite flower and I have several in my garden.
Wearing Hepcat (Phlur) today, a blustery cool spring day. May get frost Saturday morning — in May? 😉
I know..some places may get spring snow.
FYI Spring Snow is also a great book 🙂
My beloved Iris Poudre today. Though not as “irisy” as some, this one always feels special.
I had to go into school to clean up my classroom today, and because there is construction in the building, it was fully outfitted with posted rules and temperature checks. It was both comforting and disquieting. Glad I had my iris poudre cloud!
It’s a pretty one, isn’t it?
I’m in a cloud of Iris Nobile EDT this morning. Love this stuff, and very glad to have snagged what must have been one of the last bottles on earth.
You smell super good!
2nd that!
I’ve been binging on horse shoeing videos. Such an amazing profession and I feel for these men and women whose back must be killing them most of the time. I’m especially taken with this channel:
https://youtu.be/owoNKdZZrh4
This is a young farrier who is also in vet school. He really explains what he’s doing and why. Some of these hoof issues look horrible, but proper vet and farrier care really gets these horses back in fine form again. The comments are so funny! Ex: “Why are you breathing so hard?” ? I think it’s called “hard work!” I’m sad that I didn’t consider farrier school when I was younger. I’d much rather smell horse doodie than people poo. Not to mention, these horses are better behaved than 75% of my patients. ?
On the perfume front I’m in ELDO Fils de Dieu for a comforting hug.
We live very proximal to the vet school at the university here. We ride our bikes past the horses on our way to the lake. On a “good” day, meaning the wind is just right, we can definitely smell the horse doodie.
Happy National Nurses day! btw
I bet that’s a really “good” day! Happy NND right back at you! I had not even thought of it, so thanks for the reminder.
Ooo, thanks for telling me about that! I will wish my daughter a happy nurses day!
And the same to you and Deva and Elisa P and johanob and any other nurse I might have forgotten.
Piggybacking on this sentiment.
Ditto that sentiment!
Horses freak me out–I don’t care much for them. But you smell wonderful!
I can understand that- they are large powerful animals that can potentially kill you. I once had a friend who felt the same as you, and knew of my deep and sincere love for them. Whenever we happened to see one, she’d quip “Where’s my fork?” She also didn’t like cats, because she said they reminded her of crying babies in Vietnam when they yowled. (She was born and raised there until the fall of Saigon at age 7.) So, I’m sure she had good reasons for her odd (in my mind) dislikes.
I try to get on a horse once a year or so for trail rides or lessons, mostly because the kids really want to and then I’ll join because I don’t want to be a chicken – but I swear, they get bigger every year, those horses!
fils de dieu is such a fantastic perfume name, tho the francophile in me is a sucker for pretty much anything named in French.
honestly, I love the smells of horses and a barn, always reminds me of happy times. 😀
Hi Deva, I love horses and used to go horse riding as a girl. I wouldn’t want to be on a horse again anytime soon, too scared off falling off them.
I just found another clip from a very famous horse getting his feet done. One of the most expensive stallions ever bred in my country. He is very well behaved although he does take a little nibble near the end.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XBHHpH-SScw
Yeah, the last time I was on a horse was 20 years and 50 pounds ago.
That is such a stunning horse. Really, just poetry in motion. I used to ride a lot when I was younger and remember when in class the few times I would be jumping and in total sync with the horse. Such an amazing feeling on “oneness.” I follow this channel: https://youtu.be/dvOycCdGaxE
mostly because she doesn’t yap throughout the videos but focuses on the Friesians. I believe she’s in the Netherlands. I love the young ones! She often a has videos of her practicing dressage.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1ttmKBcJfs&t=264s
This is my favourite Totilas test. Gal is an amazing rider and they were such a magical team.
the lady (and her horses) are in The Netherlands. They are in Friesland (one of our northern provinces) and the place where these horses were first bred. The language you hear her speak is not Dutch but Friesian.
I’m very partial to Haflingers myself. I love how stubborn they are.
Yes! I’m familiar with that link! “It’s almost offensive to criticize this horse.” Yes ma’am, it is! Friesians are one of my favorite breeds, along with Appaloosas. She did have a couple Haflingers, including a foal, but I think sold them. I love how comfortable all her horses are with her.
Oh wow, I love those vids! Thank you for sharing, Deva.
I love horses and this is just awesome, those shoes are really helping. ?
Oh, glad you liked it. I have odd interests so I’m always happy if someone likes a link that’s posted.
Internet rabbit holes can be unexpectedly fun sometimes, can’t they?
VCA vanille orchidee, from my fragrancenet monthly allotment. I didn’t like it at first, but I like it more now. Sometimes it seems perfume has to settle or get sprayed a bit.
I wasn’t paying attention to the CP, so I may spray some Apres Londee later.
I thought off doing the fragrancenet subscription but was worried that everything I would want would be in their higher cost premium category
Well that’s true, you could check out the website, it’s nice that they have them available for sample, but yes a lot of the higher end fragrances are above and beyond the $10/mo category. I think you can just straight up order a vial of something without subscribing, too
Only scent I am wearing is my Sleepytime lip balm. Iris sounds lovely though..been craving purple flowers a bit.
Been getting take out delivered this week to have a feeling of normalcy and to support buisinesses. I got pizza last night with a balsamic glaze and arugula:).
That ? sounds delicious ?
Parks and Rec gets it right:
“Time Is Money, Money Is Power, Power Is Pizza, Pizza Is Knowledge“
? ? ?
The balsamic and arugula sounds amazing!
Got a case of dragging butt today for some reason. Probably because I work five hours five days straight instead of 3 8 hour days. Being on my feet the whole time and walking on concrete doesn’t help either. Wearing no 22 edt today. I found out that my grocery package that was supposed to arrive today is delayed until tomorrow and no reason on why it’s delayed. Good news is that my Harry and David order came yesterday. I am addicted to the chocolate covered Bing cherries and got 5 packs of them.
5 5 hour days are gross. Especially if you don’t live close to your job.
I am lucky I live 10 minutes away but it still can be tough.
lol’d at dragging butt, that sums up my feeling this morning. Hope your day gets better, and enjoy those cherries. I love them too!
Sample roulette produced Mandarina Corsica by L’AP. It’s a nice citrus gourmand, like a slice of warm orange caramel cake. It’s a quiet silage and retains its orange sparkle after the dry down. Pretty nice for a chilly drippy Spring day. Not sure if it’s fb worthy, but a lucky find for the day ?
‘Sample Roulette!” Yes!!
Right! “Desinty, take the wheel!!” ?

Haha! ??
SotD = L’eau d’Hiver
from a sample which was sitting on my at-home desk. This morning L’eau d’Hiver started off like J&J baby shampoo, a nice smell. It reminds me of honey. Then soft flowers, that’s the iris and heliotrope I guess. I like this one and Carnal Flower best of the few I’ve tried from this line. Probably because I adore transparency and BWFs.
My local school board declared today Day of the Employee. I am underwhelmed. But it is a nice gesture.
To everyone who is doing more, less, different, the same, better, worse, or nothing at all work-wise, I say “Good for you!” And if you’re helping yourself or others get through the day in one piece, then thank you very much for doing what you do.
You smell beautiful tiffanie!
I’m always in awe of your ability to promote positivity in people, regardless of how your own day might be going. A big thank you for what you do!
thank you, lillyjo, your kind words are perfect. 😀
It’s been a little bit of a downer day around my house, nothing is wrong, just sometimes that’s the way it goes. Positivity is an easy way to boost my own mood, and it makes me happy that it might bring a little boost to NST friends too.
L’eau d’Hiver is as gentle as baby shampoo, that’s for sure.
right? gentle is the perfect word for L’eau d’Hiver. If I had a bottle it would sit next to my colognes and Hermessences. 😀
Day of the Employee sounds so…generic.
Agree with Lillyjo that you always promote positivity, and I really appreciate it.
generic, LOL 😀 yeah, that’s about what I thought too.
+1 for intention, -.5 for creativity.
HA! exactly 😀
i just don’t *get* L’Eau d’Hiver. I keep going back to my sample every time someone raves about it and still no. So glad you enjoy though ☺️
L’Eau d’Hiver is an odd thing, that’s for sure. I’m a Jean-Claude Ellena fan, his scents often work for me. 😀
You have this amazing ability to make lemonade from lemons tiffanie. ?
gracias! I appreciate you, Jalapeno! and I adore lemonade.
Smelling iris-y in Chanel No 19 Poudre today 🙂
I will also wear that this week
You smell wonderful!
Went for myrrh and incense this morning (brrr), Baume du Doge.
Don’t these brrr days stink? I walked on my driveway this morning because I didn’t have time to drive to my walking path and it was COLD.
Winter just doesn’t want to let go!
In Promenade des Anglais this AM. It is from one of those bee bottles. Usually I use a pipette to apply it, but this morning I thought I’d use the dang bulb sprayer that came with it. Oish! Such a dumb little pretension. And it make a high pitched flatulent sound on top of everything when you squeeze it. Just ridiculous. Nothing like applying a gorgeous Guerlain to the tune of “Ppptzzzsqueak, Ppptzzzsqueak, Ppptzzzsqueak!”
I hate that sprayer, too! I complained last year while at a Guerlain counter and they gave me another one – same issue. As a result, I don’t really use the perfume (Liu) very much at all.
I know, right. It completely defeats the goal of adding elegance. It doesn’t spray well, it allows for evaporation of the perfume, and it makes a funny sound!
Omg, I’m laughing so hard ?
I am quite proud of my rendering that sound into words!
Ppptzzzsqueak!
I decant all my bee bottles into plain atomizers, those bulb sprayers are the worst.
This perfume is so light that I can apply it almost like a cologne–I am going through it quickly, so not worth decanting. Also, I really like the bee bottle, just not the stooopid bulb sprayer!
lol!! But the bottle is stunning
At least that sprayer wasn’t going FFFFFFFRRRRRRAAAAAPPPPspritz!
Not even a little bit Iris today in Eau d’Hadrien. But it sure is spring-y goodness!
Such a GOOD one! You smell great.
Wearing Chanel no. 5 parfum today, feeling pretty good. It helps that it’s sunny out.
Envy your sun, Desirae!
Cold here but at least sunny. Went with Bois des Iles.
You smell great!
SOTD = Parfums Dusita Splendiris
Love the name, love the fragrance!
https://www.instagram.com/p/B_2tLKKhXmA/?igshid=14nv8or4gt9op
Great about the Swapmeet being next week — will give me a chance to test out bringing pre-paid packages to our tiny post office since the new mailboxes don’t seem to accommodate packages anymore.
Is that a scarf for the background? I love that print and colors!
No one guessed what it is as yet. It’s actually a pouch, but from where? ?
I dont recognize it but it looks very pretty and uplifting! ?
You smell like a fresh breath is Spring!
Thank you.
Since you have started chronicling “Zoom Woes”, I thought this deserved a mention:
https://mashable.com/article/toilet-flush-supreme-court-livestream/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Mashable+%28Mashable%29
I was snickering the entire time I read the article. ?
Ha! Made me think of All in the Family.
Exactly! The Archie Bunker toilet.
???
?
I have to be clearer on do’s and don’ts since I relayed both yesterday.
In any case, in the restroom, if I hear someone tapping away on their cell phone, I make sure to flush twice!
Me too!!! 🙂
Oh that’s hilarious! Thanks for making my day?
Is that pouch from Etro? Beautiful paisley, in any case.
Love Splendiris
Wearing L’Attesa from a 6ml decant. I may have 1 more wear of this beauty before ‘thunk’.
A definite beauty!
I’m wearing Impossible Iris this morning for the first time. It’s nice!
Anything it compares to?
Paris-Deauville from a Sample after KellyC mentioned it yesterday. I like it, but no FB for me.
I’m not sure I’ll buy a FB (possible, just not sure) BUT I’d happily wear it if one fell in my lap ha! I really enjoy that one and Biarritz are my two favs of that line. So I think you smell marvelous!
if one fell on my lap, i’m pretty sure i’d take it too ??
Xerjoff Irisss from a small decant that I bought probably 10 years ago. I think, nobody can argue that this is a great showcase for using iris in perfumery. I like it, but for me it’s not worth $6.50-$9.00 per ml (dependent on a bottle size). I could see myself paying for it at the Iris Silver Mist or L’Atessa’s rate, but not more.
One of the additional downsides of working from home is getting more telemarketing calls. My phone is on the Do Not Call list, but it doesn’t help completely. And if before, when economy was strong, I got seriously annoyed by those calls and even from time to time allowed myself to be less than courteous, now, knowing how many people were left without an income, I understand that for some this work is the only one they can get – so I try to be polite and not to snap. But it is quite annoying.
Our calls have almost disappeared since this all started. We are also on donotcall, but it doesn’t seem to do much.
Same with me.
I’ve gotten more robocalls to my landline…with a marked decrease to my cell. That said, I used to pick up some of the calls and just stayed silent.
As to Irissss, I could still kick myself for not buying an on sale bottle plus an extra 30% off when I had the opportunity. This was going back a good 5-6 years ago when I have not yet honed my perfume pouncing skillz ?
I’m in MDCI Nuit Andalouse and swooning over it. So gorgeous, narcotic, intoxicating!
I love those MDCI’s. I think I’ve got one of those cute mini bottles of Andalouse.
i am not a iris lover, so i struggle with the CP. Today i wanted to smell powdery vanilla, so i put on Kenzo Amour. Its nice, but not really me.
I bought some sewing patterns from Cashmerette, because the had a deal to buy two and get one free. So i bought a jeans pattern, a shirt pattern and a dress pattern. I think i will have to sew a lot in the next months. I never made jeans, so this will be interesting!
When I first fell down the rabbit hole I thought I didn’t like iris either but have since changed my mind drastically lol. But I can see how it’s not for everyone!
Don’t struggle with the cp, just ignore it and wear what you like 🙂
AG Huere Exquise edt today. I don’t wear this one enough. It’s so beautiful. I’m loving it today. I think I’ll take iris on into the weekend as well since I was a couple days late starting it.
Happy Wednesday, friends.
It’s one of my all-time top 10, I think. You smell fantastic!
It’s a cool, damp day and I remembered that one of my many iris perfumes is AG Mon Parfum Cheri par Camille in the original stunning dark red bottle with black bow.
To me, this perfume was always the edgy Goth sister of Jacques Fath Iris Gris — iris and peach plus patchouli. I assumed it was a fall perfume but it’s working very well on a chilly spring day.
Discontinued but still haunting ebay.
(According to Fragrantica, the note is plum rather than peach, but it has the same effect to me. They also include violet, which is probably true.)
Stunning!
I had no idea this scent contained iris, I always smell the plum and patchouli.
Great choice for a gloomy rainy day! ?
In Acqua di Parma Iris Nobile Sublime. The difference in this flanker is the absence of star anis and the addition of birch tar and black locust, it is more powdery than the orginal, a lit of orange blossom and neroli and a suede effect.
Powdery and suede sounds sublime to me!
Thank you Lillyjo, yes it really is a beautiful flanker, when restrictions on travel are over…(sigh) I hope to send you some when I go to France.
That sounds wonderful!
It’s a stellar flanker.
Birch tar, suede and florals sound like a great combination.
It does make one lovely perfume.
Iris week and I am missing out on all the fun!!!
I miss you guys!!
Just had a quick chat on Instagram with Lovetosmellgood and Deva, and thought I’d pop in quick!
Sotd was J’Adore, and now I’m in Korres Queen of Sheba, post shower.
Happy Wednesday!
I’ll pop in properly this weekend.
XO✌??
*post loooong hot bath rather…Lol.
Pet peeve:showers,I do when I’m pressed for time, but I’d rather have a bubble bath.
In case you wondered…lol.??
I was wondering just the other day??
Oooh bubble bath, that sounds awesome!!!
Shall I pout that you didn’t have a quick chat with me on Insta?!
Jealous! I miss having a bathtub, but the trade off was a tiny backyard.
Memo Italian Leather today.
Always feels so good.
Maybe this should be my late 30th bday present to self?
YES.So good.
You better decide before you turn 31!?
LOL! ?
Do it! You smell great!
I’m retesting my sample set from Rogue Perfumery, I quite liked most of them, which is a good hit rate. I might start the day with Mousse Illuminée.
I love Oriental Express. It’s the only one of those Muglers that I might want a full bottle of.
Wearing Hiris myself. Lovely, and such a stunning bottle. Today was not too busy, so I could relax a bit at work.

I will def check out those Versailles vids.later
So interesting to see how it developed into the palace as we know it!
I visited Versailles only last year. I once went to the Chapelle Royale ages ago. The thing with Versailles is that it is so busy and crowded that it’s quite hard to get a feel for the place, or any idea of its lay out.
I did love the garden though. When I was there, there were families on the Grand Canal in rowing boats and I loved watching people just messing about on the water.
I also love the Grand and the Petit Trianon, there were not as many people there as there were in the main palace.
Still, I do still prefer Vaux, that truly feels like the Belle au bois dormant might just wake up at any moment and make her way into the gardens.
I saw the interior of Versailles ages ago, when I was little. Probably at the end of the 80s.
I visited it again as a student, with a friend. We only stayed in the gardens because we were poor haha.
And yes, the building itself is just too big.
Working there (then and now) will get you record breaking pedometer scores ?
I still want to visit Vaux. Thats the chateau famous for being in quite some movies and series right?
Yep, I think it was used for Marie Antoinette (the Coppola film) and it was the inspiration for Versailles. It was created by Le Vaux, Le Nôtre and Le Brun on Louis Fouquet’s orders. Louis XIV got so angry and jealous when he was first invited there that he jailed Fouquet!
I find it far more harmonious and easier to grasp than Versailles.

Oriental Express has been discontinued as far as I know, you might want to pursue it sooner rather than later.
Thank you for letting me know. I doubt I will get it. I like it a lot, but that particular niche is kind of well filled in my collection. It is very good though.
Hello NST! Today is my 25th wedding anniversary. I’m still kind of wondering where all the time went. It doesn’t *feel* like 25 years have passed… ?
SOTD = Mon Guerlain EdP, from the sample stash. This has more vanilla and less lavender than the EdT. I’m getting a vanilla-lavender-honey ice cream vibe with the EdP. ?
Congratulations!
I’ve never tried the EDT, it seems like I have to. One can never have too much lavender, and I do adore the edp.
Thank you austenfan! I’d say that the EdT is closer to unisex than the EdP is, at least on my skin.
2️⃣5️⃣? congratulations!!!
Thank you Jiji!
Congrats on your silver wedding anniversary! My parents decided to invite all their original wedding guests to their 25th. I’m considering it for my 25th, which is a few years away.
Thanks Eschmeling! What your parents did for their 25th was rather cool.
Congratulations! I own the edp but am not sure if I’ve tried the edt.
Thank you cazaubon! If you like an herbal lavender, the EdT is well worth a sniff.
Happy Anniversary!
Thanks lillyjo! ?
Happy anniversary ??
Thank you chocolatemarzipan!
Awww, Happy Anniversary! 25 years! I’m with my hubs for 25 also (though only married for 10). Hope you can celebrate today ?
Thank you Elisa P! We have a special bottle of Grand Marnier that we only touch on our anniversary. I had a wee dram of that, which I consider appropriately celebratory. We might do something else later on this year if circumstances permit.
I love that you jave a soecial anniversary bottle ?
Happy 25th Anniversary! ??
Thanks perfumelover67!
Happy Anniversary! ?
Thank you Gail!
Congrats and happy anniversary!
Thank you Glannys!
Quite a milestone, congrats to you and Mr. Jalapeno!
Thank you Robin!
oh, happy day! here’s to another 25 years and more. 😀
Thanks tiffanie!
Happy Anniversary, jalapeno!
Happy anniversary, Jalapeno. Hope you had a lovely celebration for those 25 years.
Late check in but recovering from professional whiplash. Was just settling in to patient care role and learning a whole new system when we got a late email yesterday telling us we were no longer needed in patient care and to show up in the morning to our Bronx office to now fill another new role- or more so an add on to our old role. So back to the 2 hour early morning subway commute ? Plus there was loads of drama with some of our office staff who work up there. They resent us being there and having to review our stuff that we’re learning from scratch. Some of them really need to retire already…
I wore Paris-Riviera which I couldn’t smell except for the few minutes between spraying and going outside this morning, but it was a great few minutes!
Paris-Riviera is beautiful! Sorry you had such a bad day.
Thanks Gail!
It is such a great, easy perfume. I could still smell it on my arm when I de-masked at home tonight.
Ugh, sorry to hear that your workday was so horrible.
It was pretty cray. It was like a bad office-based reality show. Thank goodness my direct coworkers all get along oretty well, so we did a good job of asserting ourselves and supporting each other.
Wow, so sorry Elisa P!
Thanks Robin. Oh, how I long for a case of cabin fever. Perspective…
Paris-Riviera is such a positive vibe scent. I hope it gave a you a little joy on your difficult day. 🙂
I’m so sorry about your being shuffled around and inconvenienced, ElisaP. Please feel free to complain here – I do so too many times!
Sneaking in late to post day 3’s Iris: Apres L’Ondee. I have some early 90’s EdT in the old lute bottle and it is just perfect for a melancholy day.
Best melancholy day fragrance very made, IMHO.
Truly. I can’t believe they totally discontinued it. 🙁
Apres L’Ondee is one of my most favorite perfumes. You smell lovely. 😀
OMG I forgot to say Happy National Nurses Day! I am so sorry! I am not done reading comments & hoping someone else has already mentioned it.
Well, this nurse got to read this, so thank you! ❤
Today I wore a smidge of Joy parfum, and I didn’t hate it this time. It’s quite nice, but I don’t need it.
I keep intending to participate in Iris “week”, but then I don’t. Let’s see, I’ve used up my Bellogia and Diorling vintage samples, but both became undetectable surprisingly quickly so that was quite disappointing and sad. I followed those up with Chamade. Well at least I don’t need to chase those down. Farnesiana, on the other hand, that’s a different story. Fleur de Cassie, eat your heart out. Why do I even get vintage samples anyway?
Iris is so often paired with violet, and my skin and violet are not friends. I also noticed I am desperately on low samples of iris soliflores; a couple years back I went through a bunch to see what I liked with the intention of purchasing one, but then I didn’t. Feu Secret, New Sibet, Iris Silver Mist, and surprisingly Iris Fauve from Atelier d’Or were favorites.
Maybe I’ll wear Dzongkha or Silences tomorrow, or Friday, but I won’t make any promises.
Eh, if you don’t love iris, skip it!
