May The Fourth Be With You! What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Diptyque Eau Capitale. It's all wrong for today (and I'm not sure I love it anyway) so I will change later this morning.
Reminder: 5/8 is Iris Day, so we'll repeat our project from 2016... wear an iris fragrance, if you have one.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2020, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I’m starting out the week in Saffron & Iris, a 4711 Acqua Colonia.
That sounds great; I didn’t know that was one of them! I must seek it out someday.
That sounds interesting. Can you tell us more?
Well, I’m not sure what saffron smells like, but it goes on with something more than just iris. It certainly isn’t straight up iris. It is a cologne, so I have to apply a lot to last for most of the day. I like it.
You smell great!! I tried that one at 4711 when visiting Cologne.
Starting Iris week.
Goutal Etoile d’une Nuit (sample thunk). Soft and smooth makeup iris. Maybe I would like it a bit stronger, but it is still very nice. I will probably get a decant.
Oh, beautiful! I’m interested to see what other iris scents you chose this week!
And happy thunking!
Thank you. Makeup irises are probably my favorites, but I hope to wear very different iris scents this week. Stay tuned! đ
I liked this one when I tested it. I wouldnât mind wearing it from time to time – I just donât want to pay the full price.
Cold and damp here again, wearing Or du SĂ©rail to warm up.
Eau Capitale didnât work on me either, it was a screechy rose, something too sharp and pointy in there.
Oh, Or du SĂ©rail is a great scent to keep you comfortably warm.
I heard snow may come to your neck of the woods…
Yes! Such a weird spring…
Sounds about as pleasing as a tropical storm in December. Yes, it happens.
You smell great!
Sotd is nuclear levels of Gucci Rush, and I’m putting on make up today! The insurance roofing guy is coming out today, fingers crossed it all works out.
Hey, will someone please start watching the FX/Hulu series Mrs. America with me? It’s so good. Seriously, if you liked Mad Men you will like this.
I will put on some makeup too and you smell lovely
Thank you! I’ve only put on make up twice in 6 weeks. It’s amazing how much better I look with a little foundation.
I am watching Normal People in Hulu
Normal People sounds intriguing! I’ll add that to my ‘watch’ list.
We just binge-watched Seasons 1-3 of Ozark. It’s excellent but quite dark and not uplifting. Jason Bateman, is stellar.
I enjoyed the book
Hope you get your roof fixed soon!?
Me too!
Iâm watching Mrs. America! We are on episode 3. Iâm loving the fashion too (on the libber side)
I just finished episode 5.
I love the fashion and the decor.
Even though I remember the real life events, I’m riveted by the story telling.
Good luck with the roof!!!
Thanks!
So turns out, the suspected issue is much less involved than what I thought. Which means it’s not covered because I have the deductible. This is ok, though because I can get someone else to fix it for less than the deductible and not have to file a claim. Assuming this guys assessment is correct.
Good news!
Three cheers for make up (if you like that sort of thing–no pressure to anyone who does not). For fun yesterday, I wore a bright neon yellow/blue/pink look with green eyeliner on lower lid. I was channeling 1985 and it was TOTALLY AWESOME!
Enjoy!
1985!!! Oh yes!! I wore lots of make up in the 1980s and 1990s. Nowadays, hardly any. I am so lazy LOL ?
What’s even more awesome is the fun looks we did back then, with the make up that was on the market!
Remember Dial-a-lash?!
I havenât heard about that one! I am up for the pilot!
They two of you look AND smell great!
Let me know what you think, if you do!
Oh Yes for make-up at home, ready for anything. Fingers crossed Lillyjo.
Thanks Aurora!
I am not watching it but the website for fashion guys Tom and Lorenzo has run a number of articles about the fashions in it. You might enjoy them.
Will check them out. Thanks!
Mad Men made me SO ANGRY. I watched the first five or six episodes and then just couldn’t take it anymore. I suspect Mrs America will do the same thing to me, based on the trailers I’ve seen.
Why did it make you angry?
Not sure of Koyelâs answer, but I could imagine watching the sexism, racism and other blatant isms could do that.
I could not tolerate 2nd season of Big Little Lies because I decided I didnât want to spend a season watching Character A be nasty to Character B.
In our current times I find my tolerance for any sort of… real…drama is very low.
Same here!
Miss Goldsmith has got it. I know that was the point, but I just couldnât take it.
Don’t you love nuclear levels ?? I hope your roof is fixed soon.
Makeup: I have so much of it, but being at home I’ve gotten lazy! I seem to put it on for my weekly outing to the grocery store or drug store (where they have a small grocery area). I watched a few Lisa Eldridge videos on the weekend and maybe am re-inspired to put some on in the morning; it does make you feel better. Maybe I will even try a few more bright colors, not my usual no-makeup look.
I had stopped wearing make up to the grocery store too. I’m going to get back into though. It really brightens my mood.
Glad to hear that your roof issue is less complicated and expensive than you first thought! I had to smile when I read “nuclear levels of Gucci Rush”. I hope you have a BUB of that one. I’d hate to think you wouldn’t have one of your most loved scents someday.
I’m actually using my bub now. I’m still toying with getting a new bub. Lol
Good morning Y’all!
Starting out the week in Burberry Brit Rhythm. Soft and powdery, but the lavender note’s got me wanting to go back to bed for a couple of hours….LOL Reckon I’ll have to wait until lunch time to snooze a few minutes! Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz #ShowMeTheCaffeine
Did you give up Mountain Dew?!
Not at all! LOL I’m on my 2nd Dew as I type….. đ
I’m impressed if you can go back to sleep after 2 Mountain Dews!
Itâs a sunny day in Pittsburgh which can be a rarity. Wearing Yves Rocher Accord Chic- many more sprays than usual because why not.
Reasonably sunny here too on the other end of the state, yay for PA!
Buongiorno a tutti
Lilli Bermuda Frangipani
Toast with peanut butter and french breakfast tea (MF)
I bought some irises at the farmers market over the weekend and they are blooming today
Good morning! I read Eat Pray Love, and therefore know that tutti means everyone. ??
Hehe
this made me laugh!
?
Toast with PB and Banana! Woot!
Ooo! ?
And a touch of honey.
I’m eating ‘all’ the carbs today…
Greetings NST. I’m wearing 24 Faubourg today, which is heavenly.
yes – it is! was in me list for âmaybe get this next time you travel through duty freeâ. ha
Well, now that no one’s traveling you’ve saved a lot of money on airline tickets, so maybe…
a very good point đ
Hahaaa, I like how you think!
You smell divine!
You smell very classy!
TDC Bois dâ Iris. I have my Irises all lined up for the week.
Back to work after a really nice family weekend. Sun makes everything better.? Got out for multiple walks and bike rides, took the inside of my fridge apart and scrubbed every square inch, and finished the PowerPoint presentation for my class. Iâm just imagining how much more of a productive person Iâd be if I lived somewhere that was sunny 365.
I wish I would of checked before I sprayed..I love iris
I will start tomorrow
I really like Iris too, I wouldnât have tried so many Iris fragrances if it werenât for this blog and kind NSTers.
I agree!
Yes sun does the body and mind good! I frequently have that same thing exact thought about productivity!
I just feel like I have so much more energy when the sun is out. Solar power, lol.?
You smell amazing!
I’ve been lucky enough to live in sunny places everywhere except when I was doing my masters in Ontario. Wow, I was so dismal with all those clouds. I am totally a sun lover!
Thanks!
You are lucky. I dream of living somewhere warm and sunny year round, but I could never leave my family, so I try to deal with the weather the best I can and soak up the sunny days when we get them.
Be careful what you wish for. I live in sunny Houston, and while itâs cheering, by July you hate that blasting furnace in the sky.
As a friend from Alabama once commented, ‘it’s hotter than the hammered down hinges of hell down here!’.
Sun is wonderful but the humidity adds another level!
Yeah, Iâm not a big fan of hot but I would take about 72 and sunny all year round.?
Sun lover here too!
It was a spectacular weekend! ?
It was perfect! Iâm so ready for about 6 months of it!?
I wore this yesterday. Got some nice spicy bits for the first time, usually I get sweet, damp and iris.
Hmm…I donât get any spices, but it lasts a long time, Iâm almost 12 hours in and I can still smell it.
I’m wearing YSL Nu, which I had a very specific craving for this morning. I can’t believe it’s May!
Love NU. Thunked my bottle. You smell great.
So nice to see you too. Was thinking about you the other day because I was thinking about Karl Lagerfeld Chloe and wondered where you were. ?
Nice to be thought of!! đ
You were missed !
You smell incredible! Nu always fascinated me.
Starting iris week finishing my sample of Imaginary Authors O, Unknown. Soft and sweet rooty iris.
Bright, warm and sunny day today. Back to cold temps tomorrow. No plans to go outside since work will be hectic this week.
Since parks are already open here, I was planning to take a walk with my dog in our nearby park yesterday. No way! It was so crowded, most people were not wearing masks and social distancing was ignored. So stressful! Even though there was police presence around, they didn’t do anything about it. I decided then to take a long walk in the neighborhood instead, which was quieter than usual. I was able to enjoy the weather and Nature in general without much fear of being outside.
Happy Monday everyone!
I hope your week isn’t too crazy. I’m really glad your neighborhood was peaceful, but I really wish people would remember to social distance. It’s a problem again where I’m living. What was the point of staying at home if we just undo all that good work as soon as the sun comes out?
Agreed. I think in part, with people stressed and distracted, partial openings without clear (and in some cases contradictory) directives have added to the confusion.
From what I’ve observed (informally, mind you) in my area of SF (I live on the beach), many are acting as though it’s a 100% ‘return to normal’. đŻ
Thank you, Sistine. I hope so too!
I am always hoping for people behaving in a more mature and respectful way. But I guess I am asking for too much these days!
Hopefully your week is less hectic than you expect! I think weâll all have to be very careful of our surroundings for awhile. My husband âhadâ to go to the hardware store on Friday, the first day things started to open up here, and the place was mobbed. He went in anyway. ?
We have no options, but continue our lives as usual and protect ourselves the best we can. Nobody cares about other’s well being.
Did I send you that sample? I am losing track LOL ?
I am taking a lunch break and then have two stressful back to back meetings ???
Maybe one of the two samples I had came from you. I don’t keep track anymore who I am getting samples from. It is very difficult since I have too many.
Hope your day goes fast!
We had our first nice weekend and everyone was out. It was crazy. No one is going to stay in when it’s nice out.
I wish you a wonderful week!?
I love to see people out, but what it makes me very upset is that they don’t care about others around. No masks, no social distancing, just nothing!
There must be much less risk outdoors in the sunlight, but I agree, why take it when one has already sacrificed so much time in isolation?
I hope we don’t have to be in isolation again sooner that expected due to the irresponsibility of most people outside. I am looking for a relaxing summer time.
I saw him (Josh) interviewed by Arielle Shoshana on her website recently and THAT is his FAVORITE scent of his line.
Way2GoPL67!
It is a very nice iris scent. I didn’t know O, Unknown was his favorite from the line!
Glad you were in your quiet neighborhood for a walk. People are mind-boggling!
I will probably spend more time in my tiny backyard than ever before. It’s ok though. I’m planning on starting some flowers from seed for my containers because the garden shops still aren’t opened up.?â?
I will also spend most of my summer time at home doing tons of stuff that I have been delaying for a long time. Under different circumstances I would be making plans to spend lots of time outside. Not this year. Enjoy your gardening time! That is a very relaxing activity! ???????
I really enjoy catching up on things I had put off for YEARS because I was always too busy.
I was in a mood for green today
So I am wearing De Bachmakov from a decant.
It is REALLY green, and fresh and a bit foodie, like eating a salad while sitting in a meadow. ???
Yesterday evening my husband asked what fragrance I was wearing….he mostly does that when he loves or hates something haha. It was Bandit. And he loves it. Phew. ??
4th of May is Remembrance of the Dead here in The Netherlands.
And tomorrow 5th of May is Liberation Day.
I am drinking red rice tea we bought in Vietnam last year.
Its a bit sweet, I love it!
Eek…I was worried until I got to the end of the Bandit paragraph. Thanks goodness he loves it!
? yeah luckily we mostly agree when it comes to fragrance.
And he doesn’t mind if I use his arms extra sampling space when we are in a perfume store. ?
Red rice tea sounds delicious
It sure is! Its a bit sweet and earthy/nutty.
Like genmaicha.
We also brought a green tea with us from Vietnam, its a type called snow tea. Its delicate, bitter and refreshing. I think its great to make ice tea with. No sugar will be added. I love bitter and cold drinks in summer.
It’s Monday and my birthday. I’m celebrating in Chergui this morning. I don’t feel like working – I know my managers will tell me happy birthday but they will add “and can you do all these [annoying] things for me?” I’d like to say “no thanks!” But I won’t. I will, however, be baking my strawberry-rhubarb pie this afternoon. đ
I’ll save my one and only iris for this Friday: VC&A Bois d’Iris.
Happy Birthday springpansy!
Your pie sounds delicious. Is rhubarb in season now? I should check the farmers market.
Yes – in season, altho no local strawberries yet.
Happy birthday and i hope you get a chance to slack off a bit! It should be law that birthdays are paid days off đ
Happy birthday! Have a healthy and happy year. I hope your pie is even more delicious than it sounds!
Happy Birthday ? and have a nice Strawberry + Rhubarb birthday pie
Happy birthday! Iâd love a strawberry rhubarb pie right about now.
Happy birthday, springpansy! I hope you figure out a way to celebrate all week long. ?
Happy birthday!!
Happy birthday ??????????????
Enjoy that pie!!!!!!
I love strawberry rhubarb pie
Happy birthday Springpansy !!
Happy Birthday to you!
Happy Birthday! And we are scent twins today as I continue to use up what must at this point be < 2 ml of Chergui. A little goes a long way on me.
Happy birthday Springpansy ????
Ooooh that pie sounds delicious, enjoy!
Happy birthday and YES to that pie!!!!
Happy Birthday!?
Happy birthday!!
Have a lovely, scent-filled day!
Happy birthday, and you are smelling wonderful!
Happy Birthday Springpansy!
Oh how i wish we could share that pie… i hope you have a very lovely day.
Happy Birthday, Springpansy. May this year just keep on getting better from now on!
Happy Birthday! Have a healthy and wonderful one!
?????
Many happy returns.
Happy Birthday! Nice sounding ?!
Happy birthday, and yay for strawberry rhubarb pie!
Wishing you a very Happy Birthday! And enjoy your pie! ??
Happy Birthday and the pie sounds delicious!
Happy Birthday! Take it easy and enjoy your day.
Happy Birthday! Enjoy your day and your pie! nom nom nom
Happy birthday springpansy! Enjoy that pie. Rhubarb rocks!
Happy birthday! Happy pie eating đ The VCA Bois d’Iris might be my favorite iris scent.
Happy Scented Brithday, springpansy! Your rhubarb-strawberry pie sounds delish! ?????
Happy birthday to you!?
And I am on book 2 for the Ruth Galloway series. đ Thanks again!
Happy Birthday, spingpansy!
Happy birthday! I hope your work day was as painless as possible and that your pie was delicious! Strawberry rhubarb is one of my top three pie flavors. I hope you’re doing something extra fun tonight.
Not planned at all but I am wearing iris today!
SOTD: Iris Noble EDT (the only iris I enjoy at the moment)
Finally getting some warm days. I love it and hope it stays awhile.
Serendipitous iris gets points too đ
Gonna be cold the rest of the week.
I didnât care for Eau Capitale either. I really enjoy many scents from Diptyque; this one didnât do it for me though. Iâm on a three day run of Chanel No. 19 Poudre.
Eau Capitale not getting much love. I have to say I like it and have a FB but I want it to be slightly colder and darker for it – I think itâs not going to have too many outings until late summer / autumn.
It wasn’t for me but I did smell it on someone else it thought it was gorgeous.
You’ve smelled great for 3 days!
Thank you!
I will be joining you in that at least once this week!
Iâm not really an iris person. It smells like carrots? Sorry to be sacrilegious. If someone knows a gateway iris for non iris lovers let me know.
Iâm in Theorema. Itâs so easy to wear.
Has anyone ordered a decant from scenthog? Are they legit?
Atelier Cologne Silver Iris is more sweet than rooty, you could try that one?
Chanel no 19 in extrait form is full of iris. The iris isn’t carrot like.
You smell fab!
I donât have the extrait form, but also second Chanel No 19 as a non irisy iris.
Van Cleef & Arpels Bois d’Iris and Dior Homme are not very carrotty. You might also want to try Iris Nobile by Acqua di Parma.
I used to be like you, sistine. And I still do not like carroty iris and ‘too earthy’ iris. Then I discovered different kinds of iris scents, so now I have a long list of perfumes for at least two iris weeks. My favorites are cosmetic (lipstick, powder) irises: Misia, Lipstick on, Etoile d’une Nuit… Then there is fresh and clean iris in Prada Infusion d’Iris, green and powdery in Heure Exquise, cool lavender/iris in Bvlgari Au The Bleu… This note is a real shape-shifter, so eventually you will probably find an iris fragrance you like.
I agree with Cazaubon on the Atelier Silver Iris.
My first FB iris scent was Bois d’iris by The Different Company.
Also a great gateway iris imho is L’Attesa, its not carroty to my memory, but the iris is creamy/powdery.
Have fun exploring, id like to think there is an iris for everyone ?
Ahhhh omg l’Attesa. That is very high on my want list. But then they raised their prices and I got petulantly resentful and didn’t want to buy it, so now it’s possible I’ll never have any. Sigh.
I dont have a bottle either.
When I tried it I immediately thought “wow this is beautiful” but I felt no urgency to buy it. Still, I cant get it out of my head. And I always recommend it to anyone who is looking for a good iris scent ?
Too bad its pretty expensive. ?
I kinda feel the same a lot of the time FWIW. There are some perfumes with detectable iris that I like, but for me it’s never a focal note.
Chanel 28 la Pausa is a lovely vetiver iris. It’s easy to wear and versatile. Like the kind of person who looks effortlessly elegant in jeans and a white shirt.
Ew, I dislike both notes.
La Pausa is not the Chanel for you, Calypso!
It’s not my favorite scent, but it has grown on me a lot…I found Infusion d’Iris (Prada) quite enjoyable, and I liked Iris Silver Mist too, but did find it a bit carroty. By way of comparison, I did NOT like Hermes H’Iris (and I really like the house overall).
I bought Hiris after one spritz in a department store -basically blind because of all the love on the blogs. I don’t know whether it has been reformulated and, honestly, there is nothing that irks me about it. I just don’t wear it. Much later I read Luca Turin’s description of it as “sad iris” and the penny dropped.
Thanks for the suggestions all! They have been noted
Iâm totally with you on not liking iris. I have tried many and never liked one of them.
Iâm hoping that my tastes will one day change so I can broaden my olfactory horizon. That happened to me with jasmine – I used to really loathe it and then one day I smelled an amazing jasmin sambac absolute and something just clicked!
I would also recommend VCA Bois dâ Iris, itâs more woody to my nose than many Iâve tried.
Former iris hater here! What turned my experience around was AG Heure Exquise EdP and Chanel No. 19 EdT. I loved both perfumes at first sniff and was shocked to learn that iris was present in both.
AG Eau Camille and Heure Exquise were my wabbit hole AG scents.
Dior Homme, Aedes de Venustas Iris Nazarena, Jorum Studio Trimerous, Carner Barcelona D600, Prada Infusion dâIris EDT, EDP and Absolue, Prada Purple Rain, Parfums Dusita Splendiris, Diptyque Volutes EDT, EDP, Frederic Malle Iris Poudre, Stephen Humbert Lucas 777 Khol de Bahrein…
Wow, thanks – that’s quite the list!
I adore iris – it’s one of my two favorite notes. I’m doing iris week, and I’m starting in ELdO’s She Was an Anomoly. It’s a friendly iris/ musk and I really like it. I may pick up a bottle, especially since there’s a 20% code for ELdO (code = SUPERHERO20, good until May 10.)
Have a great week everyone. I hope you find joy unexpectedly each day.
I have a FB I’d like to get rid of. I’ll make you a good deal đ Ping me at emc dawt 7 1 1 7 in the land of gee-mail if you’re interested.
Pinging you now!
You smell lovely. I bought the 30ml bottle of that one and have been kicking myself for not getting a bigger bottle. Itâs especially nice in the evening.
Chanel Coco, because why not? Starting the week off with the presence that is Coco ??
There’s really no wrong time to where Coco!
Coco is always correct.
Thereâs no good reason not to đ
You smell wonderful!
I woke up in Lyric but now in Kyoto. I am backing off on getting another full bottle of perfume. Forgot that one of my dogs has to go to the vet later in the month or early June. I know the office visit is about $50-$60 but don’t know how much the heartworm test or the rabies shot will run me. My Viktoria Minya travel set hasn’t shipped yet. I hope my Sephora and Luckysent packages ship soon.
Luckyscent seems to be shipping slowly. My last samples order took over a week to be shipped.
I understand that Covid-19 is slowing down shipping but this is starting to get excessive with wait times. Some of what I have ordered are mother’s day gifts and I hope I get them soon. I should not be waiting a month before anything ships. Even some food stuff that I ordered, I am still waiting on.
I can never get away from a vet visit for less than $100. Now I have another cat whoâs clearly having dental problems and I may be looking at a $1000 bill. Just went through that about four months ago and then cancer tests for my poor Dusty. I love them but theyâre expensive.
How is Dusty?
Our furry babies are pricey, aren’t they?
Just the RX food alone for SmokeyToes is $60/month. And he turns his nose up at it. Oy.
Sadly, Dusty’s cancer was inoperable and fast-growing. I had the pet hospice come and help him cross over on April 1.
I’m so sorry about Dusty. ((HUGS)) to you.
Please weigh in on the Minya perfumes when you can…I haven’t tried anything from that line but saw the cute coffret on LS.
I will report back. I love the original Hedonist, the rose one was okay but nothing special to me. I haven’t tried the absolu versions though.
Good morning. I am wearing Caron Parfum Sacre on one arm and Prada Infusion de Rose on the other, trying to decide which one to wear today. I will probably go with Parfum Sacre because in a few weeks it will probably be too hot to wear it? I’ll take advantage of wearing it now.
Not sure about Parfum Sacre in the heat, since I purchased it when the cooler weather was happening.
It might be OK in warmer weather, too, but I would vote for never putting off Parfum Sacre.
SOTD is Cool Water Wave layered over Hermes’ Un Jardin sur la Nil body lotion, for today’s heat.
My allergies are horrific today, I even had to use my inhaler.
Iâm in the edt, hey twin! I hope your allergies get better.
Hi Twin! It’s rare SF is warm enough to enjoy scents like SLN and Cool Water
đ
Sur le Nil is always excellent. I hope you are able to enjoy the scent even through the bad allergies.
I really love Sur le Nil, I finished my spray and have the lotion, which is surprisingly fragrant.
Allergies are tough here too. I woke up with itchy red eyes. Hope you feel better quick!
Oof. I keep thinking in fits of paranoia that I’ve somehow contracted COVID-19 while sitting at home, but I think I am also suffering from allergies. It seems worse this year than usual. (Maybe because I usually spend so much more time in sterile office environments and cleanroom labs?)
It’s a pretty difficult allergy season for many.
Sometimes, clean and sterile isn’t always better! Hopefully the allergy season dies down quickly! I love plants and trees but not right now…
I played in plenty of mud (in farm country, no less) in my day and here I am with three autoimmune diseases… I was sick for over a month in early February through most of March. I’m trying not to ponder if I had C-19, I had all of the symptoms. Tried to get tested but none were available at the time.
I’ve noticed some allergy symptoms too, and they showed up much earlier than usual. Hopefully that doesn’t mean a monster allergy season. ?
Hanae Mori EDT today. I got a sample of Eau Capitale over the weekend, was so looking forward to it. One spray on a tissue was enough to decide right then and there it wasn’t for me, and to pass it along to my sister.
I like Hanae Mori a lot!
Oh, you smell pretty! I LOVE Hanae Mori, such a soft pretty scent. I’ve gone thru a few bottles.
I’m wearing Un matin d’orage by Annick Goutal. Such a lovely white floral.
Tea is Jardin du Luxembourg by DF. An flavoured oolong. It’s very nice, and I would love to sip it in the actual JdL. Next year, hopefully.
Such a lovely floral — until the spiky wood lightning strikes, lol. At least in my vintage. I always laugh with delight at how perfectly this fragrance embodies its name.
You are not the only one, I can sense it a bit, but not enough to really bother me.
It is such a great fragrance though.
I have one of the original carded samples, and I think AG may have toned that down a bit in subesquent versions. Also, I’m very sensitive to those spiky woods.
Good morning!
Scent: Jour d’Hermes and Ormonde Jayne Osmanthus, because let’s be inclusive.
Reading: NYT (not mood-elevating; maybe I will go hit the recipes). Sheer escapism: Deanna Raybourn’s A Murderous Relation. I get stuck on the intermixing of the Victorian era with clearly modern sensibilities, and then I remind myself that sometimes, historical accuracy isn’t the point.
Tea: Coffee right now.
Later: Making masks from tropical print batik quilting fabric. If we have to wear them throughout the summer (I’m assuming), we might as well have some bright ones.
Other: My birthday was Saturday, and the family got me a camera! Learning curve time!
I get the NYT Cooking digest (pun intended) every day now, and I love it. It makes me feel less alone. You smell lovely, and I love that you’re making masks.
Very happy belated birthday đ
Thank you!
Happy belated birthday ?
Happy belated birthday! Enjoy getting to know your new camera! ??
What an awesome gift! You can document your gorgeous masks! (And other stuff too, of course)
Happy Birthday – may you have health and happiness this year.
Happy Belated Birthday! ?????
Many happy returns.
Happy birthday and congrats on the camera!
Happy belated birthday!
Belated Happy Birthday!
Happy Belated Birthday!!!
Happy birthday! ?????
And what an awesome gift ?
Happy birthday and I love the format of your post…excellent use of paragraphs and headings…so nicely organized. đ
I really dislike walls of text that so many of colleagues use in work emails.
I need white space sometimes. đ
Happy belated birthday!
Happy belated birthday!!
Happy Belated Birthday! ????
Belated Happy Birthday! I bought a ton of cloth masks from Etsy. I just washed them and will try them to see which ones work nest and will order a bunch more.
I did that too, and glad I bought from 4 different vendors because really like some of them more than others.
Enough iris here to fill a week! Maybe Hiris will get some airtime tomorrow.
Today’s flower was Ylang-Ylang (Perris Monte Carlo) and I’m still making up my mind if the new Narciso Ambree is a must have. I like it but it doesn’t come close to the Francesca Bianchi’s I’m loving these days….
Thatâs an especially nice Ylang Ylang scent! Mmm!
Hi friends, wearing Mitzah today on Mayhem Memorial Day. It was one year ago today that we had to say goodbye to our precious cat, who was suffering from small cell lymphoma. My life last year was made very difficult by cancer. 2020 sucks, but compared to my 2019, my 2020 is honestly going ok so far.
We will eat foie gras for dinner in his honor (it resembles cat food, no?). Maybe some canned tuna. I welcome other ideas for a cat-themed meal.
Salmon?
Shrimp?
And you smell beautiful ?
Thanks <3 yes, I think I will pull out some salmon. (I don't think either kitten has ever been very interested in shrimp, oddly, and they were downright terrified of every lobster they ever met.)
Catnip tea is very relaxing to humans–catnip is in the mint family, so it’s not too far off from mint tea.
Oh wow, how interesting. Good idea with the mint; I’ll drink some of that in his honor, thanks. He did love catnip.
If you have foie gras on hand, go for broke. And I know you lived in Toulouse, so probably have already read Duck Season?
Oh gosh, duck season. I wish I knew where to find good duck breasts in the US!
Do you know what season I really miss from Toulouse? All the mushroom seasons. We do get seasonal chanterelles here in CA (which are actually girolles; it’s all very odd), but where is truffle season? Where is cepe season? That’s what I want to know. I can live without duck, but can I live without mushrooms?
Iâm sorry you have a sad memorial today.
Thank you, Calypso <3 We miss him always but especially today.
Sending you hugs, Koyel. Enjoy your dinner tonight to celebrate Mayhem’s life.
Thank you, Gail. We will enjoy thinking of his reactions to each of the things we will eat. (He used to be such a greedy kitten! He would sit down on his butt like the best little boy every time he wanted our food. Sometimes it worked and we gave him some….)
You smell very nice. Hope today is not too hard
Thanks, yasmina <3
Big hugs to you, Koyel.
Thank you, She-ra <3 I think we celebrated his life in a way he wouldâve liked.
Hugs in memory of your kitty. I love the idea of a cat themed supper.
Thank you, cazaubon. It was a very nice memorial.
Hugs, Koyel. If it isn’t too late in the day for another dinner suggestion, what about creme brulee? After all, gotta have dessert with a fancy dinner, right? ?
Thanks Jalapeno <3 we didnât have time for a crĂšme brĂ»lĂ©e, but the next time I make it, I will think of Mayhem.
Hugs to you, Koyel. Surely you must have cat-themed mugs?
Thanks, hajusuuri <3 this is crazy but actually we donât have cat-themed mugs o.o or any cat-themed kitchen things at all. What kind of cat parents are we?!
Still doing my spring scents here: SOTD is CBIHP Black March. Love this.
Good news, the wedding I was invited to in June has been postponed! One drama avoided… or delayed, anyway; it’s only postponed to October.
Better news! Only 15 weeks left until retirement đ đ đ
Double Woohoo!!
Congratulations!!
Super envious about the impending retirement! It will be GLORIOUS.
You can totally do 15 weeks!!!!!
So, SO, SO envious of your retirement! But somehow I think retirement won’t be wasted on you, which helps a little. I’m drinking a precious bottle of red wine on a Monday night with my husband, because, honestly, Covid-19 has been rough on the healthcare industry in every possible way.
Woohoo, that’s AWESOME! Go you đ
I remember when you posted about receiving that wedding invite…and I thought…people sometimes have interesting ways of seeing the world…and by interesting I mean strange and by world I mean reality… đ
Woot!!
Whoo hoo for a double shot of good news!
Yay! My April 3 trip was rescheduled to October. Methinks it wonât happen. I donât even care about getting my money back at this stage. I canât see myself wearing a mask inside a crowded plane – I would rather not fly. And what do you do about selfish people who donât wear masks? Also, do you serve food to every other person On every other row because, otherwise, everyone will be maskless at the same time? ? ?
Totally forget about the CP.
I made a blend that has Orris butter gifted to me by pl67 so I will dab that on my wrist to participate.
In actuality I am wearing EB Florals Virgin Lily of the Valley and will be all week….thunk.
And did my two mile walk early this morning.
Ok, back to work ????
Thank you for reporting on your walk, going to try to use that to guilt myself into exercise! Did a hike yesterday but now lacking motivation.
I am THE VERY LAZIEST person on the planet. The mini Marzipans call me a sloth. So if I can do it, anyone can do it. Hope you can squeeze some exercise in today, Robin ?
I did the checkbook & bills, which I loathe even more than exercise, but now I am out of steam. I am going to have to hope the hike we took yesterday will carry me over til tomorrow. I will skip ice cream tonight as a punishment, ha!
The only thing I hate worse than checkbook and bills, is the dentist.
I hope you allowed yourself some ice cream ?
Will it help guilt you into exercising if I tell you I haven’t missed a single day of exercise during quarantine? đ I’m quite proud of myself for this. (I have to do something new every week or so, or I get bored out of my mind.)
Koyel, I am clapping for you, that is just wonderful!! Very good for you.
I have made my fitbit steps every day and I have maintained my weight, but that is the best I can come up with — have not met my yoga, weight lifting or meditation goals. But I have not given up either! I have done all 3 things every week at least once. So I am sad but not totally pathetic ?
Thank you đ and good for you! During quarantine, itâs been essential for me to stick to a workout regime, since Iâm moving around less (no running around from one building to the next, no rushing in lab, etc.). I love that you are varying your physical/mental health workouts đ
Ha! You go! I think about you all the time when I get lazy about walking. As long as I can I would like to walk on a daily basis.
Woohoo! Thatâs great. I am scared of walking because I worry about running into other people, but I look forward to going on regular walks again someday soon.
Sampling Skymning from Svensk Parfum which has some iris in it
That sounds like an Ikea bookshelf. đ
I had to adult last night, so Iâm just waking after a quick snooze. Iâm wearing SB Incensed- nothing in common with Iris except for the âl.â ?
Iâm not thrilled that the hospital has now returned to doing elective surgeries starting today and opening the previously closed units. The last couple of nights have also seen an explosion in the ER traffic. Also a little frustrated by the âyoungstersâ on my unit who constantly whine and walk around with their masks under their chins.
Last night I stationed myself away from everyone ( itâs a HUGE unit), and another nurse wanted to know why I was all by myself? Helllllo! Do you even have a single CLUE?! Bah humbug!
Hope you all are spared from adulting today cause itâs no fun! â?
It would be NICE if others would up their adulting a bit, wouldn’t it?
But then what would I have to complain about? ?
My list is endless, so I’d throw you a topic or seventy…
Excellent.
Yeah, Bah Humbug!
I’ve had a great attitude about COVID-19 until this weekend, when I agreed to go on an outdoor walk with my parents. They wanted to meet at a park that was literally OVERRUN with people; so many cars that there weren’t even enough parking spaces and people were bumping into each other, and 95% weren’t wearing masks.
It seems like this politically-charged moment is actually going to cause a fissure in my family, which makes me incredibly sad.
Iâm sorry to hear about the family conflict. That makes a rough time exponentially more difficult. I donât understand the vituperative attitude that so many are freely âexpressingâ by lashing out those who are trying to keep everyone else safe. ?
Mine, too, I’m afraid. Fortunately, I guess, my brother lives in another city and I don’t have to experience it.
The way things are going the only nurses left will be new grads at the lower rungs of the pay scale.Where I worked there was a concerted effort to “encourage” nurses nearing retirement age (who also had years of experience and were serving as mentors to new nurses just learning real clinical judgment)to leave, that they just weren’t keeping up anymore.12 hour shifts are not kind to older nurses.
That’s sad. I can’t imagine that 12-hour shifts are beneficial to patients, either. Why are they doing that? Is there a shortage of nurses or what?
The hospitals always gave continuity of care as a reason for 12 hour shifts,i.e. a patient only has 2 nurses a day vs. 3 nurses. The staffing office only has to staff 2 shifts a day vs. 3 shifts =less resources used.To be honest, some nurses love 12 hour shifts so they can have more days off.The problem is no other options for the nurse who works more efficiently and provides better care on an 8 hour shift.
Wearing Imaginary Authors Cape Heartache today.Such a lovely scent!
I think the âencouragementâ you mentioned is more related to cost cutting than the 12 hour shift issue (which most of us LOVE because of the those delightful 4 days off). Iâve worked at facilities where long term RNâs that have started as CNAâs and worked their way up educationally and positionally have been forced into âretirementâ because they are at the top of the pay scale. Their positions are eliminated (goodbye staff education nurses, CV patient education specialist RNs, DM patient education RNâs) or filled by new grads with no bedside experience for much lower pay levels, as you mentioned above. All this, of course, negativity impacts patient outcomes, readmission rates, etc. New RNâs are lasting only 2-3 years at bedside. Medicine in the US is dying a very slow and painful death. Hospitalists are overworked and harassed, the electronic record is basically copy, paste, no reading necessary. âCritical thinkingâ is an endangered species as hospitals continually add algorithms that eliminate or discourage it. For example, a facility I traveled to had such an aggressive CIWA protocol, nurses were afraid to not follow it because thereâs such fall out if they didnât. On occasions, Iâve received patients so obtunded that I could barely rouse them with a vigorous sternal rub because the previous RN was âfollowing the protocolâ. âPolicyâ and âprotocolâ are the new gods in hospitals, and while I agree they have their place, they shouldnât be absolute law.
OK, I’m glad the schedule works on some level.
I agree, it’s all very worrisome! I “attended” a policy panel last week and found myself reminding the (in this case) very well intentioned economists to look at some of the issues from a patient’s perspective, too.
Also, doctors are scheduled too tightly. I always have to remind mine of key aspects of my history and reiterate my requests to renew my prescriptions, even though they have all that info in the computer in front of them. What will happen if/when I become forgetful?
Was thinking of you today! I went back today to “regular work” after a week off and a week on call. The nurses are NOT happy. After having empty units and no elective surgery last month, everybody had their hours and pay cut by 25%, with no double time on public holidays etc. Now elective surgery is starting up slowly and there is a surge in all the patients that stayed home for a month, but can’t bear to any more. Now, people are working staggered shifts and being run off their feet, trying to homeschool children and having to deal with hospital management who wants all the nurses to be tested for Covid-19 out of their OWN pockets, though it is a hospital infection control measure. Everybody sees the frontline nurses (probably well paid) in places like New York and think that that is the worst possible scenario. It’s not, the insidious damage that is being done to the medical profession through all this uncertainty, is much worse.
Totally agree with you. There are many ways hospital personnel, from EVS workers all the way up to hospitalists, are being treated so shabbily, not only financially, but also in managerial behaviors I see as straight up bullying. Be âcomplicitâ with managerial methods, âcomplyâ with hospital totalitarian under the radar directives, and âcooperateâ or be âterminated.â All unspoken, but clearly implied. I will never be a staff RN again because I value the freedom of being able to walk away should I âdisagree.â
That is shocking – and might I add short sighted! Hospital workers are the LAST people we want to mistreat right now!
It’s so much worse than people know. I know people that went anonymously to the media as whistleblowers regarding mistreatment happening right now (safety and compensation issues) and the hospital retaliated and revoked their department’s hazard pay. So awful.
Excellent points. Healthcare systems are being ravaged by this regardless of location. I listened into a Milliman call last week estimating COVID expenses and it was staggering and depressing.
Iris Week? Easy!
I’ll start with a softball this week: Iris Ukiyoe. Sparkling green floral that lasts forever on my skin.
Hope you all are staying safe and healthy!
That is indeed the softball đ
I am going to start iris tomorrow.
I think I have enough iris to do a whole week so today I’m wearing Atelier Iris Rebelle, a pleasant iris/citrus/white musk that I got the the Atelier Cologne Advent calendar last season. Generous samples of all their colognes, plus samples of soap, lotion, and shower gel for not much $.
It’s a sunny morning here and I’m in need of sun, so going out and hopefully cheering up. Woke up gloomy.
Hope you are all sunned and cheered up by now foxbins!
Iâm in Hermes Sur Le Nil today. Fragrantica lists iris as a base note, and I do detect something a bit rooty, so Iâm going with it.
I procrastibaked most of the day yesterday, so need to get down to business. My daily workouts have been neglected, so that is first on the list.
Yâall have a great day and stay safe!
Interesting, it never occurred to me that there was iris in Sur le Nil, but it does have a primary function as a fixative so it’s used in (or used to be used in) many more fragrances than one would think.
I did not know that! Thank you for sharing this info. ?
I love the phrase Procrastibake
?
Seconding my love of the term “procrastibake.”
I have to admit, I stole it from the NYT food section. I will miss it when itâs not free anymore!
Iâm responding to how my bread pudding turned out. So it was an ingredients fail because my bread became a science experiment. I will try it mid-week since I have a fresh batch of bread that will become stale by then with some aeration. To be continued!
Oh, too bad! You can always stale your bread in the oven. Turn it on to 350 for a minute, turn it off, and put your bread slices on a sheet pan in for a few minutes.
The goal is no bake so that would defeat the purpose of the exercise ?
Also love procrastibaked.â„ïž
“Procrastibake” is an awesome portmanteau word! I’m stealing it.
Wearing Ormonde Jayne Woman again today and trying to search down a partial bottle or decant. If anyone has any tips, let me know! I even messaged the scent split sites and asked OJ if they sell singular travel sprays these days.
I’m just about done with the sample I received last week. I remember my older samples smelling stronger. Has anyone noticed that?
There are samples and decants on ebay.
Also, Arielle Shoshana has the 1.7 oz size for $150.
The shop is closed but they are fulfilling online orders.
I have 50mL and I don’t wear it as often as I should–I’d be happy to send you some samples. Message me at Missionista at yaaaahhhhhooo.
Also, OJ is currently having some sort of offer, and I think they are selling 30mL bottles if that’s of interest. Check their main website.
As I saw a couple of year ago, I have enough iris perfumes to go for a month, so a work week should be easy.
Wearing Olfactive Studio Iris Shot from the sample my perfume twin Lucas shared with me (hereâs his recent review for this perfume: https://chemistinthebottle.wordpress.com/2020/03/11/olfactive-studio-iris-shot/). I like this warm, slightly spicy and sweet iris, but unless itâs released as a 15-20 ml travel bottle, I donât think Iâll go beyond the sample.
Happy Monday everyone!
Looking forward to your choices this week!
Back in Penhaligon’s LOTV today. I’m halfway done with my 5mL sample. I anticipate it will be gone by the end of May…
We are note twins! Mine will be thunked at the end of the work week.
Taking a quick break from house chores to chime in for the CP.. I am in my little sample of Iris Shot by Olfactive Studio inspired by Lucasi. Yummy Iris. Beautiful.
I need motivation for house chores..
Yes, I am standing right with you on that one.
My motivation is going outside to enjoy the beautiful afternoon when I am finished.
I am going nuts cooped up. I am ready to take my chances going out in public using good judgement and get on with my life. I am officially ‘Co-over-IT’!
We can’t do this forever.
I hope to have a good friend over for her bday tomorrow (cinco de mayo, a fortunate girl) and we will social distance on the terrace while drinking a margarita like old times and soak up the sun. It seems folks are easing back to normal, just not hugging and respecting each others comfort level when greeting. This may not be as hard as we thought.
It feels so good to be together.
What is your motivation?
I so agree with you! Workplaces should have policies to protect workers, care homes should have policies, it is not an all or nothing issue. But maybe people should have the option to decide what makes life worthwhile for themselves and what type of risks they are willing to take to live that life.
[ed note: removed last sentence, do not want to debate role of government here at all!]
When you say “I’ll take my chances” it makes me worry a bit that you think the purpose of social distancing is to protect oneself. It’s not – it’s to protect others. It would be great if we could all decide what risks we’re willing to take for ourselves only, but unfortunately because it is so easy to not know one has this disease, when we take risks we are risking everyone else as well. I am practicing strict social distancing because my friend’s dad is dying and I used to go out dancing with that lovely doctor from New York who killed herself after caring for so many dying patients overwhelmed her, and I want as few people as possible to suffer the way they have suffered. I am begging you to reconsider. There is no way our pain at staying indoors is greater than the pain of losing a loved one.
Regina, I should have said — I missed that you knew Lorna Breen. My sympathies, that must be so hard, and my sympathies to your friend as well.
This American Life did a short piece about the psychological toll of the virus on NYC ems workers, and it really made an impression on me, probably more so because I did not hear it until after I heard about Lorna Breen (I think it aired earlier in April).
Thanks, Robin. I did not know her well but remember the delight she took in dancing and find it very hard to reconcile that memory with her feeling such despair.
Hi Regina, I am sorry for your loss. My heart went out to her parents as well when I heard the news.
And I thank you for your concern, I would feel as you do were I in your situation. I honestly just don’t know the way forward here as we can’t remain as we are until, perhaps, the vaccine?? There are many risks along the way all clearly delineated. But eventually we have to dip our toe back in the water… and I am encouraged that folks are abiding by common sense and are being sensitive and respectful of others needs and comfort level by asking the right questions immediately to set the right parameters.
Thanks for your kind words, AngelaB, and I’m sorry I got het up there for a moment. I agree that we are all doing our best in difficult circumstances!
I’m so sorry for your loss, Regina, even though you did not know her well. I was heartbroken to read of her suicide. However hard it is for most of us, it must be so much harder for healthcare workers.
I’m trying to figure out how to say this same thing to friends of mine. I know someone who just bought a plane ticket for late May. I just cannot fathom how to explain to her that she is putting everyone around her at risk.
Ok guys, I know we’re going to talk about covid 19, that’s a given, but I really don’t want this to turn into a debate about federal, state or local covid 19 policies, because that really easily crosses the line into politics.
So maybe keep this more general?
I agree.
Hear, hear!
Sorry, Robin! Duly noted.
Absolutely!
What is my motivation.
I am trying to start out my week like this:
https://youtu.be/270KKGpvqTU
Sorry, not sorry!
Wow what a FUN video! Thanks for sharing –
You’re so awesome ltsg!
Scent twins! (Including the source đ )
SotD = Iris Ukiyoe
It was either Iris Ukiyoe or Infusion d’Iris edt. Coumarin tipped the scales in IU’s favor. And it’s perfect for my yoga time later.
Off to the plumbing supply store to get a little piece of pipe to fix something at home. I like to DIY when I can. đ
Happy Schmunday to everybody.
meant to add I love camellias, and that photo up to today made me smile. It’s kind of a floral robot looking thing! May the Fourth be with us. I think I’ll finally watch the baby Yoda show tonight. đ
That’s what they should have called it – “The Baby Yoda Show”. đ
Great choice!
thank u, Coumarin, we smell lovely today. đ
I went straight to the top with the incomparable SL Iris Silver Mist from a circa 2010 bell jar.
I bought that as a partial bottle, so a few years ago I bought the elegant black lacquered travel spray in order to be able to spritz with abandon. That newer version is woodier and less opulent, though.
I’d say the same about SL Bois de Violette, comparing my ca 2010 decant and later export spray versions. *shakes fist at IFRA and the accountants*
ISM from a bell jar. That is a fragrant mic drop.
I still kick myself every time I think about the bell jar of La Myrrhe I saw on ebay back then and did not buy. Ouch! Ouch! OUCH!!!
I saw you respond to my purchasing of La Myrrhe a few weeks ago but I wasn’t sure you’d see my response. I truly hadn’t smelled it until last year but it smells like the sample I’d gotten. I’m sure it has changed but to me, it smells lovely.
That’s good to know, Coumarin! I’m tempted!
Iâve never had the nerve to buy a bell jar from eBay. Between the leakage potential and the fake potential, Iâve avoided it. But I hope you find your La Myrrhe someday!
I think one of the reasons I didn’t buy is that the bottle was in Italy, and I also worried the stopper would leak. But I’ve bought a lot of vintage perfume on ebay, and that has rarely happened.
MM Untitled, I am trying to empty my decant. Had a nice walk with a friend and her dog, so I finally had a social meeting after 4 weeks or so…
How nice, glad you got a good walk with a friend!
Commando today, but tomorrow I will wear Bas de Soie. I have a week’s worth of iris, first CP that that has happened!
Yay!
I’m quite a fan of Eau Capitale, Robin, but I can see people disliking it. I’m still considering a fb as my late 30th bday present (over 2 months ago, lol)
SotD is Aedes Musc Encense.
Also a fan, and romantically gifted myself for Valentineâs Day (a holiday I donât at all understand as itâs not part of my culture, but any excuse…) Most of us only turn thirty once, so one needs to mark the occasion appropriately.
I love Eau Cap..would love a 10 ml of it
I don’t know if I dislike it, but I definitely don’t love it! And did not want to wear it today.
SotD a repeat in Victorinox Snowflower because (1) it’s my only perfume downstairs and that’s where I’m at and (2) it’s one of the few perfumes containing iris that I have.
HUGE sigh of relief!
Google was sending me a replacement cell phone so I could transfer data and then mail back the old phone, and provided they get the old one in 21 days all is well, as its under warranty.
BUT right now Canada Post just knocks and walks, leaving packages on the stoop!!!!!
I fully support this from a safety perspective, but I was terrified I would miss seeing/hearing the delivery and someone else would grab my replacement phone from my steps, leaving me on the hook for the cost!
Thankfully my vigilance worked (and knowing delivery normally happens between 2-4pm on my street), I spied the postal worker walking on the opposite sidewalk and was able to nab the parcel right after he knocked! WHEW.
Made Lemon Honey Cardamom tea cake yesterday, sourdough boule this morning, pizza dough rising for this evening, and my mangoes are taking forever to ripen so the deep dish pie just has to wait….
Good job nabbing your parcel!
And that tea cake sounds fantastic. Big cardamom fan.
Pass me all of that food!!!!!!!!
Yum yum yum ???
You’ve earned your carbs, teebear — enjoy!!!
It should not be when they get it in 21 days because you donât have control over it once it leaves your hands. I assume they sent a pre-paid label? If not, i would track it like itâs my conjoined twin.
I have no shortage of iris fragrances, but my SOTM was Carthusia Mediterraneo – not an iris in sight, and it’s gone now (at lunchtime) anyway. I might go respray right now – another benefit to WFH! đ
AHA, I was trying to decide what to put on this afternoon and that’s it…off to find my bottle.
You smell(ed?) amaaaazing!
A dull and wet day here, it had to come eventually, but we had one of the best autumn months ever. April was unbelievably settled and sunny. I’ll be wearing the completely unsuitable Clarins Eau Dynamisante this morning, as I work my through my small stash of miniatures đ
Yay for a beautiful autumn!
Eating cereals for dinner I think because tonight I just don’t feel like cooking. Wearing Acqua di Parma Mandorlo di Sicilia.
Cereals for dinner – go you. I can totally relate ?
Everybody needs one of those time to time?
Cereal is not my personal don’t feel like cooking meal, but I salute the lack of cooking in general đ
?It reminds me of Seinfeld and all the boxes of cereals in the kitchen cabinet.
I only have cereal in the house if I’m making, for example, Rice Krispie treats đ
I have one box in the kitchen, so not like Seinfeld and his collection. It’s true you can make delicious treats with rice krispies.
Thank you! Cereal for dinner for me too ?
We’re dinner twins?
My pandemic stash includes giant boxes of Cheerios!
You seem to have thought of all eventualities, powder milk, Cheerios…?
My son is the king of cereal for anytime! I have at least 3 boxes at at all times.
He’s like Seinfeld ?
Yes! Lol
Broke open the bag of carrot cake Oreos, for reporting-back purposes only. They seemed nice, and tasted vaguely of cream cheese fronting…
Hey, thanks for taking one for the team!
We need a DIY oreo bake off here.
I tried the Carrot Cake Oreos too, and found them too sweet.
Which means that they’re perfect for me ???
I
Need
Them
Next trip, I am getting them ?
Cranky today and patience is running out with the covid phase in history.
Sotd so far, lemony hand sanitizer.
My patience has surprised me in that I have not yet burned my house down or run screaming down the street, but yeah, really not pleased with 2020 so far, and the murder hornets are really just about the last straw.
Isn’t it interesting? I would say about once a week I ‘hit the wall’ and have a minny meltdown but for the most part I’m doing OK. I know there’s a lot under the surface that I’m going to have to deal with at some point but that’ll come.
Exactly.
I have a feeling it is going to be even worse when they start to relax restrictions, because we are not going to be able to relax as much as others. It will be even crappier to not be able to go out for a bar burger and vermouth & soda when other people can (sitting at a bar and eating a burger and fries and drinking a vermouth is right now my absolute no. 1 thing I miss, which is sorta silly but hey it’s mine. No. 2 is a real live yoga class, and I’m not going to be able to do that either).
I sure missed burger n fry outings today too. Never tried vermouth but will add to my list of posssible post pandemic things to do.
Hope there will be no murder hornet in my glass.
It’s even gotten down to talking about hollywood hearthrobs with a friend of mine last night …I was like..we need to get out if this is turning into Entertainment Tonight haha.
I have been Jonesing for a burger and a beer from one of my favorite brewpubs for a while now. Sadly not happening any time soon. ??
Agree on everything you said including the hornets.
The hornets, just honestly.
Remember when we were complaining about 2019 being crappy and felt hopeful about 2020? Yeah.
Seriously! 2018 wasn’t good either. I now realized I should have complained much less the 10-15 years prior to that, ha.
I read about the hornets today and wanted to scream with madness!
I looked up murder hornets and OMG!! Our bees are doomed!
Robin, when I think I’m going to break, I picture that I will end up like this.
https://youtu.be/iXn2_S_oDaQ
Holy cow!
Had to google that, had never heard of the movie.
I have been cranky w/ the situation too. Hang in there and spray more ‘fume! đ
Robin, I was very happy to hear that your house didn’t get any major damage from that tree falling onto it.
It’s also “Metallica Monday” for me in addition to May The Fourth. I needed something to help me deal with the cobwebs this morning… spent far too much time last night playing a game on the computer. I paid dearly for that with massive sleep deprivation today. Bleah.
SOTD = Mon Guerlain EdT, from the sample stash and hajusuuri. She seems to have a knack for knowing what perfumes I really would like.
I’m deep into season 3 of Ozark and paying for it today as well. So hard to turn that one off!
Thank you Jalapeno! My checkbook got damaged but it could be so much worse. And nobody got hurt, even the crazy tree people who did the whole thing without a bucket truck.
Enjoy Metallica Monday — hope it is clearing the cobwebs!
A tree fell on your house?! I missed that. Glad all is okay
It was a tree we knew was going to fall on our house and had already made arrangements to have removed, then we had a big storm before the tree people managed to come over…so yes! We should have been quicker, but it fell in a very kind direction all things considered đ
What game are you playing?
It’s called “Connect Classic” and is one of those matching games. Kind of like “Bejeweled” in concept. Too easy for me to get sucked into!
And of course, ? ?
Monday and skimming that fine line between the light and dark side of the force while wearing Philosykos.
Lol, May the 4th be with you!
Donât have much in Iris scents, although I imagine many of my scents have some in there. May wear the Prada Infusion on Friday but probably not. I donât care for it. Itâs all boring powder on me.
Showered and combined a light rose lotion with Body Shop Sakura oil. Topped with Seville Ă LâAube. I smell fresh and clean.
I am perusing various summer berry cakes…may need to do some baking. Strawberry, raspberry or rhubarb. Hmmmm…decisions, decisions.
I love the idea of rhubarb but yet to find a recipe I really like.
Started the day in Nomenclature Iri_del (thanks PL67)! Thunk!
After lunch I applied some Prada Iris edp from a teeny 8ml bottle; the Prada seems to be giving me a little rash now.
I have most of my Iris scents out for the week so I should be set!
OH no, a rash!
That’s what I thought! It’s calmed down now thankfully; it hasn’t happened before.
Are those little bottles dabbers?
Yes, the set of 6. So cute!
I sampling Dark is Night and Torn from Henry Rose today…am trying to got through old samples and use them or lose them…?
I am quite enjoying Dark is Night…lots of patchouli and vanilla. Torn has vanilla too but is spicier w/ vetiver. Both are very smooth to my nose.
I think their FBs are 50 ml for $120 and probably should be more like $60. đ But I applaud them for having two strong vanillas when they only have 5 or 6 fragrances in the whole collection I think. đ
I have been saddened and appalled reading certain news stories today…sometimes feel a bit ashamed to be human if that makes sense. Why can’t more people get into hobbies like perfume and just go about their damn lives without causing harm to others I’d like to know. Le sigh. End rant and on to keep sniffing my forearms compulsively. đ
That should be a poll: what fragrance are you wearing, how much does it cost, and what should it cost!
That would be a very fun poll!?
Like many here, I have enough Iris for the week and actually have enough for many weeks without repeating.
SOTD = Le Galion Iris
I should wear it more often!

In other news, check this out:

Tomorrow or whenever I can post earlier – things not to do while on Zoom (for business meetings and this has nothing to do with oneâs attire).
Definitely get the second chair for foot propping!
The color of that chair is so vivid and cheerful!
Excellent chair. You definitely need a foot stool. We just got a couple cheap âzero gravityâ recliners for our much-neglected back deck. It was such a joy sitting out there in the warm sun yesterday, listening to the birdsong and the neighbors playing Credence.
Of course, today I have two sunburn âsocksâ.
As for Zoom meets, did you see the skit on SNL? Perfectly captured both my daily work life and new family social life. ?
I don’t know why I didn’t post earlier, as I kept I on reading the comments up until mid-afternoon, but I went with L’Attesa today. I’ve had a really nice day off work, just relaxed and read some, then finished up the Little Fires Everywhere series on Hulu. Walked to pick up a sandwich for lunch and did some chores. Feeling very glad to have had a day to myself after a really nice weekend with my boyfriend.
Frustrating work day today. Havenât quote let it go, which annoys me even more. Oh, well. Tomorrow is another day!
No CP for me today: Ferragamo Leather Rose. Why did I buy a sample of something discontinued? I donât think it was a freebie.
Just read up on Iris scents and I (just barely) have enough for the rest of the week (if Iâm in the mood each day to do the CP).
