It's the World Day for Safety and Health at Work. What fragrance are you wearing?
The sun is out, so I'm celebrating with Diptyque Oyédo. Tea at the moment is Numi Chinese Breakfast with a bit of nutmeg.
Reminder: 5/1 is May Day! Don't forget to rabbit rabbit rabbit, and wear the fragrance that sent you down the rabbit hole. (I think someone suggested this project, raise your hand if it was you!)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2020, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: "Inspired by the original hand-painted wallpaper in the Drawing Room of our Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon, the Camellia Teapot makes an elegant addition to your Afternoon Tea experience, or gift for a tea lover. Made exclusively for Fortnum's in Stoke-on-Trent, this two-cup teapot features gold gilding and an intertwining tea bush design with a little bluebird fluttering here and there." £140 at Fortnum & Mason.

SOTD Bois d’Arménie
outfit today is a pink/purple Etro inspired thin cashmere sweater, purple j brand jeans.
You smell great of course!
Fabulous on all accounts!
I noticed that sweater in your picture and liked the colors. Etro is one of my favorite brands! Not that I have much. A few sweaters and some scarves.
Mine too, I just can’t afford them. So I buy clothing that looks similar! 🙂
I’ve sometimes found things on a good sale at Saks, and also the website Voox (or is it Xoox?) which has designer things for lower prices, though still not cheap. They usually have only a very limited number of sizes, but have more small than large, so you might get luckier than me at it! I will have to take a picture of a couple things for you. My best friend here surprised me with a lovely short-sleeved Etro sweater for a retirement gift!
I would love to see!
I have one Etro sweater (the real deal) I got a consignment 60% off.
I have an Etro dress I got via Th e Real Real. I am sure the discount wasn’t as good as at a thrift store, but living where I do, the thrifts run more to American classics (Talbots, not Ralph Lauren) than to exuberant Italian. I was planning to wear the dress to events this spring, all of which have been cancelled. And so it hangs in my closet.
Buon Giorno Ltsg!
What a beautiful teapot Robin. I just saw my bluebird at our feeder.
I am testing some Jovoy samples from Fumerie today – Gardez Moi in particular. It just opened and is sweet enough for a hummingbird but I don’t think that will last. This is supposed to be a big fragrance and I am curious to see what happens.
Happy Tuesday all.
Happy Tuesday 🙂 we had a bluebird flitting from tree to tree right outside the windows yesterday, he kept me enthralled for almost an hour. They’re so pretty! And I agree, that teapot is beautiful.
Buona giornata cara..
I love that teapot too. I always like designs with birds in them. At my mother’s house up north she had a birdbath in the front yard and the bluebirds would show up like clockwork each day at five o’clock and splash and play! So delightful!
When I saw the packaging for the Loewe scent in the post below this one it reminded of this pillow I bought from H&M Home. If you like birds take a look!

Oh, beautiful! I liked the ones with peacocks and cockatoos especially!
They’re all really lovely! I have to stay out of the store or I’d buy them all!
Dawn made me think of No. 22 yesterday, so I am wearing it with much enjoyment and gratitude that I get to smell such a thing.
🙂
Pre rabbit hole fragrance 2 of 4: Calvin Klein Contradiction for men.
In my mid twenties I became a bit of a CK fanboy. The usual suspects; Obsession, Eternity, Escape and then this came out. I loved it so much it became my signature scent for quite a few years until, at about the sixth or seventh bottle, I became thoroughly sick of it. But time passes, and about two weeks ago I reacquired it. It’s odd because, I didn’t really have any scent memory of it. Turns out its love all over again. Along with the other I decided to revisit at the same time…
I had a thing for Dark Obsession for a little bit, mainly cause a guy I had a crush on wore it lol. And he loved Armani Mania on me.. and we never ended up dating for whatever reason. Lol. CK is a line I have passed up a lot but interested in revisiting. I do really like Euphoria for women.
CK Contradiction for Women was the first CK that worked for me. I still have fond memories of it.
VC&A Bois d’Iris. Workout clothes for morning yoga and weights later. Working but planning a treat of making marbled banana bread.
https://smittenkitchen.com/2017/09/marbled-banana-bread/
Omg, that looks delicious! I love banana bread with chocolate chips but this takes it to a whole new level!?
You smell lovely, that’s on my list for next week.
That looks fantastic. Let us know how it tastes!
Banana Bread..
Will be right over. You can put the kettle on.
Let’s have a big NST tea party!
Am I invited, pretty please? ??. It looks delicious!!!!
Absolutely! I just took it out of the oven.
Wow – that looks incredible!
Yummy! I want to try it.
I’ve bookmarked the recipe! It looks fabulous.
The marbled banana bread turned out great – it’s delicious and the marbling effect is really attractive – highly recommended. (I’m trying not to eat another slice so that I can have some with coffee tomorrow morning.)
I think I accidentally added more flour than called for (1/2 cup instead of 1/4 cup in the last step before putting it in the pan) and it’s still great.
Oh wow, that does look fantastic! Also bookmarked, thank you!
Irresistible!
Thanks for sharing!
Very early in the morning I sampled for the third time Jovoy Remember Me, Penhaligon’s Vaara and Olivier Durbano Lapis Lazuli. I didn’t find any of them interesting enough to finish the samples. To the good bye pile they went. I love however the deep blue color of Lapis Lazuli juice.
Now I am in a huge dose of Apres L’ondee to celebrate the bright and sunny day outside. I will take a walk at lunchtime and enjoy the beautiful day.
I liked all three as well but don’t need them in bottles. Someone else can enjoy them now.
I am glad that after trying them enough they were just kind of meh. Money saved!
???
Enjoy your sunny walk!??
Thank you! ?
Enjoy the fresh air and sunshine!
Thank you, Sistine. I had a great and relaxing walk. It is gorgeous outside today!
Beautifully sunny day here too, the dog and I had a great walk.
Isn’t it a great day? Back to rain tomorrow, but at least today is very cheerful and uplifting! ?
Glad you had a nice, sunny day! It’s good when you don’t have any new lemmings, money saved is right.
I will have to try Apres L’ondee one day!
It was a really nice day!
I will make a sample of Apres L’ondee and save it for you for later! ?
Oh, thank you, that’s so kind! ?
Awesome weather today for sure!! ???
Weather twins! ????

I see you’ve inherited my stutter.
You need to keep the mandatory social distancing from me! ?
Lol!
????
I’m wearing Balle de Match, which is probably my favorite grapefruit fragrance.
YUM.
Today I’m dressed in a sample of Indult Tihota, which, it must be said, is nothing but bakery vanilla. Very nice, nothing wrong with smelling like a patisserie, but much too simple, and wildly overpriced for what it is.
I agree it’s over priced. I got a sample because it is touted as the holy grail vanilla. I got cocoa pebbles on my skin.
Yeah, I’m all about the vanilla but I think Tihota is pretty simple and not worth the price. I tried to understand the hoopla but don’t get it for this one.
I will agree, it’s too plain for the price. You can find the same plain Jane vanilla perfume for much less.
I have never smelled the Tihota but not a fan of bakery vanilla. I think Guerlain pretty much mastered vanilla.
This is awful but Guerlain SDV didn’t speak to me at all.
I’ve always been satisfied with Comptoir Sud Pacifique’s many iterations of vanilla, to be honest: I have nine of them (and mildly regret not having bought a few more back in the day). When I want a really lush, rich, high-end vanilla, I turn to L’Artisan Parfumeur Vanilia.
Really don’t like this. I don’t get the love for this line to be honest.
I enjoy Tihota, but only buy it when I can get a really good deal. Kyse Bonbons à la Vanille is just as satisfying for a lot less $$.
I do like it but I’m not a vanilla expert. What I love is their Isvarya.
I love it. I’ve also injected it directly into a sacrificial wool dryer ball in 11 different spots. I re-up every 6 weeks or so.
Omg this idea. Stealing it. Maybe I can save my cat’s fur and make felted scent balls for around the house ?
You have to show us on Insta!
Brigitte very early.
But then decided to dig up my birthday bottle from five years ago. Someone on here got an enabler pin back then because I bought both the bottle and the body cream. Cream is gone and bottle has a tiny bit left. It’s French Lime Blossom. Love the linden in this one and I know several folks here are fans.
Jo Malone? House twins then!?
Yes!! Jo Malone!!
Hi twin!!
Oh yes, I’m one of the fans, you smell lovely.
Thank you! Don’t know why they discontinued it ?
Wood Sage and Sea Salt again. Down to the last few drops. If I had applied CM8 style, it would be gone.?
Tuesday is my grocery shopping day. Last week I went in the afternoon instead of first thing in the morning and that did seem slightly less annoying. Of course there’s one in every crowd and when some guy came into the aisle RIGHT PAST the sign that says Wrong Way (the aisles are one direction now) I pointed that fact out to him. His response was “pardon me.” Pardon you?! Look, we’re all playing by the rules here buddy, you’re not exempt. Humph?
Apply CM8 style! Life is too short! You can always get another bottle!
Yeah we really need everyone playing by the rules at the current moment. Sorry for the frustration!
You smell fantastic. I’m sorry you had to deal with such ridiculousness – what an aggravation.
Good morning Y’all!
I haven’t been on here much…..between pharmacy life and digital homeschooling at night, I’m busier than a one-legged man at a butt kickin’ contest. (Sometimes the Southern colloquialisms are the best ways to describe situations!) 🙂
Anyhoo, smelling all soft and cozy-like in Guess by Marciano. I featured this gem on my Instagram series last night, if y’all are interested. Here is the link! https://www.instagram.com/p/B_giqIoDbuQ/
Talking about perfumes right now is keeping me SANE! LOL
Loving your IG series! You smell great??
As a transplant to the South (although by now I’ve been here for more than half of my life), I continue to marvel at the seemingly endless supply of colloquialisms I encounter. They never fail to amuse me. Keep ‘em coming Jada ?
I decided to dive into Mt. Sample this morning, and selected Papillon Dryad. Wow. A major lemming is born – love love love this one so far.
You smell amazing. I looove Dryad.
Me too! It’s just getting better and better as the day goes on. Really really nice.
“Mt. Sample”. Love it!
The third sunny day in a row! Wearing Le Temps d’Une Fete thanks to SheriG at last year’s swapmeet. I smell great 🙂
Yesterday I wore Zoologist Bee from my sample and omgoodness, I can’t wait to get a travel spray. Those few spritzes lasted all day and I loved every stage.
We don’t have Trader Joe’s out here in the rurals but we do have some Amish owned dented can stores that are a fun treasure hunt. I bought a roll of garlic & basil polenta for fifty cents and used it to make lasagna instead of noodles. Delicious, another quarantine treat!
That sounds very tasty, and I bet you smell great. I think Bee will be near the top of things I will try out post-quarantine.
I was searching through my accessories and found some rings. Thought of you. I will wear some today
???
My plan was to save the $ I make on Poshmark for perfume but I’ve purchased 4 new rings so far ?♀️ and a few gifts so it hasn’t been all selfish.
How complicated is selling stuff on Poshmark? I’ve been thinking of selling some jewelry and bags when I get home…
I think it isn’t that hard, I say having a husband who did it for me . . . Eek.
I checked out other selling platforms and I think Poshmark is the easiest. It’s all done through US Priority Mail, buyer pays shipping and PM keeps 20%. Since its USPS, no perfume or nail polish allowed for sale. It took me about 5 minutes to get set up and I am NOT a tech person. Let me know if you want to try it and I’ll send you a link, I think we both get a bonus that way iirc.
Glad you’re enjoying Le Temps – it’s a summertime favorite for me. 🙂
I just ordered several of the Zoologist recent offerings from Luckyscent (more below) but they were out of Bee. The reformulated Bat has gotten some good reviews. I should have ordered that too.
World Day for Health and Safety at Work? Hmmm. A bit ironic for all the frontline workers. And the tragedies continue:
https://www.google.com/amp/s/nypost.com/2020/04/27/manhattan-er-doc-lorna-breen-commits-suicide-shaken-by-coronavirus/amp/
On a happier note, I’m in SB Gypsy today, which is an easy, undemanding, centering sort of scent.
Stay safe and smell well! ✌?
Oh geez, that is sad. Pretty lady.
Such a terrible story.
I read about her yesterday.
Truly a heartbreaking story.
That poor doctor. So incredibly sad!
Such a tragic story. I hope that hospitals are providing counseling support to their staff to try and prevent further loss of life to PTSD.
Pretty sure hospitals aren’t providing anything. What an incredible loss of talent. No words. I can’t imagine the grief of her poor family, friends, and co-workers.
I would be surprised if the hospital system didn’t at least offer an Employee Assistance Program but it’s a pull rather than a push. Tragic, nonetheless.
I’m sure there is some kind of EAP. Those programs are so overloaded by the time people can actually get in, it may be weeks. Most physicians are not employed by the hospital(s). They are subcontracted through a third party vendor, as far as I know.
Hello! I am wearing 1000 Flowers Reglisse Noire and drinking F&M Smoky Earl Grey. I hope you are all doing wonderfully or at least dealing with things in the best possible way <3
You smell amazing!! You already know that is in my top five.
Yes, I do! Your constant praises of the scent are what drove me to try it!
????
Only scent I got on me, besides bleach..lol is Meyers Lotion in some kind of rain scent.
Another excessive heat warning today..just put in an order of Gatorade and other drinks. Need to stay hydrated in the desert.
It’s definitely feelin like summa:) And diggin this song by Childish Gambino..I think it’s actually about global warming but…kinda has a chill vibe at the same time, which is interesting.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ieL7BHjiyd8
I made potatoes from a box, forgot how horrible they taste. Grateful for the food but yikes lol.
I like the vibe of that song too. He is talented.
I have been listening to The Weeknd’s new album when I go for my early morning walk ( I go 3 times a week)
I just bought some of that Rain scent soap too, but don’t much like it. I should stick with lavender.
I am sampling two from Solstice Scents w/ notes below today…my 6 year is done with this distance learning thing and I am behind with work. 🙁
Victorian Picnic…Pound Cake, Loquat-Lemon Glaze, Orange Blossoms, Wisteria, Ladyfingers, Jasmine, Azalea Leaf & Reisling
Victorian Tea Room…Palmarosa, Kumquat-Orange Marmalade, Chamomile, Rose, Lemon, Black Tea, Oriental Base
Victorian Tea Room looks really good!
Those sound really beautiful.
I’m sorry your 6 year old is done with the distance learning thing. This 44 year old teacher is over it too.
Our kids are going back to school here in Quebec May 11, I hope yours gets to go soon!
Leaving for work shortly while in Kyoto. Have I made a decision on which full bottle to get? Nope but I should make a decision before the day is over.
You smell wonderful!
Looking forward to hearing what you pick(ed).
I have been pulling out things I got through various mysterious ways and trying them out if I haven’t worn them in two years or more. Balmain Ambre Gris? I think it was a swap. And it will be swapped again. Going to take a shower soon and will put on something that I love. (Ambre Gris isn’t bad or offensive, just blah and not me at all.)
I’m doing the same thing. Some perfume is beautiful, but if it’s “not me” I know I won’t wear it.
I found it meh as well, swapped mine long ago.
I’m wearing Angel Muse today. My hair is getting awfully poofy, and with the swoop in the front and the layers curling up in the back I was reminded of Betty Rubble. Yes, a gray-haired Betty Rubble. Arghhh.
lol! We’re going to call you Betty from now on, you know 😉
I am more like Pebbles these days lol.
This song seem appropriate, then:
https://youtu.be/IH8r91eiE0g
Sigh. Should be “seems”.
I’m rockin’ a fabulous mullet these days.
Scent: Gap Grass & Demeter Dandelion. I enjoy Dandelion, but of course, it’s not an all-day kind of thing – or even an hour kind of thing. Gap Grass is a favorite
Tea: Harney & Sons White Vanilla Grapefruit
Gap grass!!! Swoon. I loved that stuff so much.
Grass!!!! I had and loved all four of the originals…Grass, Earth, Day and Heaven. Niche quality but $19 for FOUR ounces in 1994.
I still have and wear Heaven but don’t have original formulation…just an empty bottle.
? still has his bottle of Om. Had that one too. Thunked it many years ago.
I remember those!! The Om candle was amazing!!
You smell wonderful!
I’m wearing La Myrrhe because Coumarin wore it yesterday. Maybe not the best idea since aldehydes tend to bother me when my sinuses are inflamed, as they were this morning. But it’s still a beautiful perfume.
You smell great! I wore Mandarine Mandarin last night and got a compliment from DH.
That may be the only old school Serge I’ve never tried!
I’m wearing the remnants of Taunt by DedCool today. I didn’t sleep well, so I applied it at 4 am. I’m going to take a shower soon (at 2:00 pm? Why not? Quarantime!) so I will apply something else after. I’m thinking a Lush fragrance -there’s just something so vibrant and cheerful about their scents.
Have a fabulous day everyone. Keep smelling great.
Putting on Taunt by DedCool at 4 am just sounds so hip! Sorry it was because you didn’t sleep well.
I wish it was for some young and hip reason! Nope, just anxious and craving a comforting fragrance. My other choice was Bois Farine but I ran into Taunt in the perfume cupboard first. It really was a satisfying choice.
Our shelter-in-place has been extended thru May. I don’t mind. Having some issues coping with a neighbor who has decided that this whole virus thing has gone on long enough… wave the magic wand and it’s over now. This morning she sent me an email inviting herself & her husband over my house for a glass of wine. Um, no.
Over the weekend I pulled out my spring perfumes, though it seems we have bolted straight to summer here. Shorts weather! Still, I declare it spring in perfume land. Yesterday my scent was Le Labo Aldehyde 44 which didn’t quite hit the spot. Today it’s Diptyque Eau Rose which is working just fine.
How presumptuous of your neighbors. I’m physical distancing from my siblings who live pretty close by.
Eau Rose is lovely. I treasure my rollerball of that one. That’s annoying about your neighbor; I hope she gets the message to stay the heck away for now!
Lush fragrances sent me down the rabbit hole — specifically the rabbit hole of owning more than one or two perfumes, of having a wardrobe and eventually a collection — and is still the most-represented brand in my collection. Yesterday I wore American Cream, and today, Vanillary.
Lush is soooooo good. It’s always a treat to shop there. I really love the Cardamon Coffee and I’m Home….
They are great for gourmands that are sweet but still a little complex and interesting!
Those are my favorites, too!
Oooh, have you tried Tank Battle or The Smell of Weather Turning? I’m so curious about those scents.
I’ve tried Weather Turning! Smoke/mint/hay — very bracing and almost medicinal? Definitely worth trying but even more than usual I think it’s a try before you buy.
Sigh. I really wish I had pulled the trigger on the small bottle I was eyeing before they discontinued the 30 ml size for that scent… 100 ml is a lot for a blind buy!
I’ve tried Tank Battle and liked it quite a bit. It’s an offbeat incense perfume. Pity it’s only in 100mLs.
SOTD is Irisss Xerjoff – beautiful powdery iris for today’s very warm weather. My favorite part is the incense dry down.
Drinking a Jasmine green tea called Guilded Lotus, it’s quite lovely and delicate.
Love the tea pot Robin! 🙂
That tea sounds good
It’s very delicate and floral. I received it as a gift with a tea pot.
I don’t think I’ll sleep tonight, I’ve drank the entire tea pot!
😯
Well I hope enjoyed every sip!
Well, one full tea pot later, the entire house is cleaned, dusted, the garbage taken out and dishes washed.
I’m (still) going strong…
LOL ?
Hope you get to sleep ??
Oooh, that tea sounds awesome! It also sounds like it has a fair amount of caffeine in it for a green tea…
I wore Untitled by MMM.. It was one of the first samples I bought,, when I fell down the rabbit hole. But I prefer it’s summery version Untitled L’Eau
I still remember most of my 1st sample order 🙂
Joining SmokeyToes in iris with Mendittorosa Nettuno. And we have sun today!! And I saw two bushes with tiny green leaves!! I think I’m going to live.
Lovely perfume! Iris seemed a perfect choice today. I am huffing lots of earthy iris and incense.
Home office Tuesday for me – in Un Air de Bretagne.
I liked your picture of it!
I love that one! Always reminds me of PL67 and my daughter ( PL 67 turned her on to it ?)
I’m starting the day in a souvenir from Dubai. It’s called Taif Al Emarat No 10, and the bottle is a copy of the ones used by Boudicia the Victorious. It’s nothing exciting as a perfume, but worth every cent for the memory of buying it from a kiosk in the Mall of the Emirates. Impulse buying rarely works well for me 🙂
I’m not good at impulse buying either.
Wearing Jolie Madame today!
Oh, you smell so elegant.
https://www.theguardian.com/books/2019/oct/27/the-man-in-the-red-coat-julian-barnes-review
I’m reading an interesting biography of a late C19 French surgeon named Pozzi ( depicted in a portrait by John Singer Sargent). Interesting from a perfume point of view because Pozzi was part of a circle of friends that included the man (Montesquoe ….that is definitely spelt wrong, I need the book in front of me ) who inspired the character in Against Nature. So , the man who actually had a gilded tortoise. It is a very detailed , bit fiddly, book (Julian Barnes) but if you are into history, society, name-checking ( Oscar Wilde, Proust, Huysmans, Sarah Bernhardt…).
Very yellow here… and I’m wearing Lale
Thank you, did not know he had a new book out (although it isn’t even that new any more).
Wearing 1957 with Margiela collarless blazer, t-shirt, navy pants. Feeling futuristic minimal with a wink to the squeaky “clean” 50’s.
Nice!
Yesterday I got my latest Luckyscent order with several Zoologist samples including two I wanted to revisit and two newer ones, Sloth and Squid. I’ll comment more on Sloth later after trying it more. Squid is for me an instant love and quite unexpectedly so given its notes and description. I just read through all the Fragrantica reviews and it’s apparently a very divisive scent which people experience in very different ways. I dislike aquatic notes but get none here, nor any ink notes. I get a nice light floral, some incense, vanilla, and lots of benzoin. I don’t get any fishy smell, either. I do detect a slight metallic musky underneath note which might be ambergris. To me the entire combination is dreamily beautiful, plus I love that light blue color!
Wow, I never would have thought of trying Squid until you described it. It sounds really incredible! On the ever-growing “to sample” list.
Let us know if you do. As I said, from the reviews it appears that some people have a pretty violent negative reaction, and wonder what the other people (like me) are smelling. It’s rather polarising, with few people saying only “meh” to it. It does have that (for want of a better term) “metallic” aspect that is stronger at times than others, and is rather alien–as is fitting for this intelligent and little understood huge monster of the deep!
I have yet to dive into the zoologist line
I love this one but sadly it caused a skin rash so no bueno. I convinced myself I should buy a travel spray but decided against it because why subject myself to something I know I’m allergic to. There are (food) exceptions of course but I’ve learned to regulate intake. Here’s what I said about Squid:
The opening smelled like Pez candy and almond extract, then they gave way to warm spicy vanilla amber with a salty mineral vibe.
Do you usually have problems with Zoologist perfumes?
Nope. I wonder what it is with Squid ??♀️.
Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on Sloth!
It wasn’t an instant like but it’s interesting and different and deserves more time. It’s another unusual one. The more I’m wearing Squid, the more I like it.
Interesting! I’d put this in the “skip” column based on the aquatic notes, but now I’m curious.
It’s a gorgeous sunny day here! Yay! ??? Both of the cats and I took advantage of the opportunity to catch a few rays today. ??
I also went grocery shopping today. 11am seems to be a good time for my local store… no line to get in, plenty of social distancing inside, and sneeze guards by the cashiers. I got almost everything on my list except for bleach. And the cashier mentioned the Tiramisu Oreos…
I did hear, but not see the Thunderbirds and the Blue Angels on their flyby this afternoon. I suspect that limited visibility (read: buildings in the way) prevented me from getting a look.
SOTD = back in Prada Candy again today.
We’ve swapped weather ?
I think we are both happy about that!
Did you get the Oreos?
I already had the Dark Chocolate ones, and was finishing up check out. So that might be for next time.
I was looking at the Dark Chocolate ones last week but I ummm, have Peanut Butter M&Ms and Hazelnut butter M&Ms waiting in the wings.
I think they are actually hazelnut spread, not butter
It was a lovely day! My husband saw the Blue Angels; I did not. Did spend a fair piece on a rocking chair in the sun, so that was nice, AND finally got wine via curbside delivery from a state store. All in all things could be worse.
Rain at last, all day today. Thank you Jalapeno and Lillyjo. This evening there is a misty fog which I love. I’m going to spring clean the kitchen, I’ll start in the evenings and I’ll finish this weekend.
I was wearing Moschino during the day and this evening YSL Cinema which smells like mimosa tea.
Glad to hear that my rain finally decided to go where it was wanted! ?☔?
SotD = Berdoues Selva do Brazil
Smelling goooooood, the leftover florals in Apres L’Ondee from yesterday are melding with Selva do Brazil very nicely. I love an accidental layering event. The notes in Selva do Brazil are just petitgrain, tonka, and gaiac but it is so much better than that, some kind of perfume alchemy or something going on.
Hope everyone is enjoying Tuesday-bluesday. I’ve decided I’m allowed a bit of a pity party every Bluesday if I’m feeling so inclined, and I am. Join me if you’re feeling blue too. 😉 Virtual hugs to anyone who’d like one, social distancing props to everyone who is doing their thang quarantine-style.
Love Selva do Brazil. It’s part of my Berdoues family ?
nice! If I were ever to fool myself into thinking it’s ok to buy another FB (lol) I might go for Selva do Brazil. Berdoues colognes smell wonderful, and the bottles make me swooooon. 😀
Ha! I agree! I adore those bottles ?
The Berdoues bottles are so cute! I’m feeling a bit pummeled and blue, so I’ll join you! Tomorrow is coming very soon, so let’s drink wine or CBD chamomile tea, or whatever gets us through until then. ?
Will you go back to the gym once things re-open here? I got notice my former Pilates studio is re-opening on Friday. I’m not ready yet. The restaurant across from me also looks like they’re gearing up to re-open. I’m worried.
I was just thinking that…so many things that I miss doing I am not going to be doing for a VERY long time, even if they open again.
I’m not ready either. I’m afraid of a resurgence, so will stay at home for awhile, not sure how long.
Lili Bermuda Paradise
Utterly crap day at work. So glad it is over. Two more days to go this week. Hope tomorrow and Thursday will be better.
SOTD was La Promesse de l’Aube, and a lot of it. So that was good!
I hope the rest of your week is better, austenfan! Or at least, enjoy unwinding this evening.
When do you start your new gig?
Once some covid-measures become less strict. It will take months. Also I can’t plan anything right now, like an international move etc. Still this job will come to an end in the near future and that is good news.
Oooh, love the teapot!
SOTD = Lubin Kismet and Zoologist T-Rex
I used T-Rex to annihilate Kismet and the far drydown turned out to be a great layering combination!
https://www.instagram.com/p/B_inHcOhJy6/?igshid=yrsakgd2eqyh
I saw a video on twitter of someone making a no-sew mask from tube socks! Maybe 2 of them on top of each other may work, otherwise the material may be too porous. Anyone with good ideas for no-sew masks? I just received a bunch of masks from Etsy and I am letting the packages sit for a few days and then laundering the masks before trying them on.
T-Rex would probably annihilate anything else, perfume-wise. Not sure I’d want to run the experiment of T-Rex vs Mugler…
I bet T-Rex and Angel Muse would play well together ?
Happy Tuesday evening! I started out in MdO Nuit Noire for a grocery trip this morning. I got there at about 8:30am, and I’ll never go that late again. As many have said, people aren’t really respecting the 6 foot spacing, including the store employees. One of the store shoppers was following me way too closely in the produce department, and when I confronted her, she just looked right through me. My concern meant nothing to her. Needless to say, I reported her to the manager, but I had a meltdown as I was talking to her, so I probably wasn’t taken seriously. I never thought I’d feel abject fear in a grocery store.
Well, I got everything home, sanitized and put away, and we’re good for two weeks at least. I’m now in an indeterminate number of sprays of Cadjmere. Of course, I had buttered cornbread and honey for lunch and am suppering on spaghetti and meat sauce with a nice glass of burgundy for dinner.
Thanks for letting me vent, y’all. Tomorrow will be a better day!
Oh no, but you’re good for 2 weeks, on the bright side. I just don’t get why people are so oblivious. Next time, maybe pretend you’re coughing / clearing your throat…
Hahaa, I’ve done that before, premask, coughing a bit down my shirt. ?
Sorry that your shopping trip was so heinous.
Sorry you had such a bad experience today. Unfortunately, every time I go to get groceries or to any pharmacy social distancing is nonexistence. It is so scary, but nobody cares at all. And who should I complain to when employees and managers do not respect social distancing either and some of them do not even wear masks. No wonder why we are the epicenter of the pandemic in the country. At the beginning I used to get so anxious and depressed, but I finally accepted that I have to learn how to live among irresponsible people. I cannot allow myself to break down anymore. I have to be strong, careful, take my own precautions and hope that God protects me. People are not willing to change their attitudes and they do not care about my fears no matter how many times I voice my disgust.
You are very wise, M. That’s all any of us can do – take care of ourselves and our loved ones, be aware and say our prayers. Thank you.
In ways I think this is because Houston evaded the numbers that had been predicted, so people just aren’t taking it as seriously. Grrr. My neighbor wrote me yesterday saying that this is “no worse than the flu” and “none of these extremenmeasures were necessary.” Meanwhile he is a near-80-year-old-man with heart disease! I have not answered. His wife is a dear friend but they are miffed because they invited me over for dinner and I declined.
On a happier note, I saw a man in the grocery aisle yesterday who stayed at a distance and wore a mask, and he was asking me what does vanilla extract look like? He was staring at all the spices and I was looking for yeast (none). I was able to point to the right items and he was so happy and grateful. He said he’s trying to make Grench toast for the first time. Bless his heart.
French toast, of course.
Oh, that’s so sweet. There aren’t many smiles behind the masks, but they are there. I’m glad you were able to help that gentleman.
Long day, retreating into a cocoon of Musc Des Sables by Les Indemodables – an elegant creamy comfort scent with a velvet of musk, iris and ambergris that floats close to the skin. Must seriously contemplate full bottle.
Glad you found a retreat from your long day!
Late post again. Sonoma Scent Studios samples came today so tried Champagne de Bois and Tabac Aurea today. I like them both.
We’ve been having a nightly neighborhood cocktail party in our cul de sac for weeks now. We don’t go every night, maybe 2-4 times per week. Went tonight and the conversation was lovely.
Guess we have another 5 weeks of cocktail parties now…
I’ve been doing way more shopping trips than I planned on these last few days, which I’m sort of upset about. Every day, Friday through today, I had to run out to get something for the household. We definitely need to plan these things better.
At least I got a couple of hours of yard work in during the early afternoon. I managed to get a lot of bulbs planted.
In the evening, I tried Serge Lutens Fleurs de Citronnier from a sample. I like it.
I like that one too. Reminds me a bit of Pacifica Malibu Lemon Blossom.
Yes. Now that you mention it, it is a little bit like Malibu Lemon Blossom. Many times more expensive, though, I’m sure. 🙂
