It's Tuesday (I checked) and National Tea Day in the UK and National Library Workers Day in the US. Plus, a very happy birthday to Queen Elizabeth and Iggy Pop. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Strange Invisible Perfumes Black Rosette. Tea at the moment is Lumbini Estate Ceylon from Upton, with a bit of shaved nutmeg.
Reminder: on 4/24, wear a perfume by Santa Maria Novella, Sonoma Scent Studio, Smell Bent, S-Perfumes or Strange Invisible Perfumes if you have one. Partial credit for any other small-ish brand that starts with the letter S.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2020, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: shown are items from the Gien Tulipes Noires collection. The tea cup and saucer runs about $45-$55 in the US. "A bold, modern take on a classic tulip motif, Tulip Noir is a graphic reprise of an iconic Gien design. Striking in black and white, the regal tulip reaches across plates and bowls with elegance and audacity. A wink to the official flower of the court of Louis XIV, reinvented for the contemporary table."
Morning Robin!
My SOTD is Halston Couture, an oldie but goodie, a classic chypre/patchouli/rose perfume and one of my favorites.
I’m enjoying a cup of Rose Green Tea by Kusmi with a splash of Pure Rose Nectar. I’m slowly reducing (not quitting) coffee and finding a nice substitute beverage.
That reminds ne, Tulsi makes a great rose tea
Thanks for the recommendation! š
Some ppl are drinking chicory beverages in place of coffee..Celestial Seasonings has a tea called Roastaroma which features that chicory but have not tried it.
http://www.celestialseasonings.com/products/herbal/roastaroma-herbal-tea
Oh, that sounds delicious! I do love chicory in coffee. Adding to the list! š
Ooh, thanks for the link. Iām gonna look for this one. I really like their bengal spice.
thanks for that info! Fortnum and Mason makes a superb, spectacular, wonderful rose tea called “Rose Pouchong” but I cannot really get it in the USA (and the chances of our trip to Europe dwindle day by day). I’ll check out the Tulsi!
Good morning SmokeyToes! You remind me that my Kusmi Violette is sitting unloved, I will drink a cup this afternoon.
OH, I bet that is delicious.
We have a Russian grocery in our neighborhood that carries all varieties of candies, pastilles, teas, and other goodies. The hubby and I like to play the ‘guess what’s in this package’ game. The twist is we each pick a food the other has to eat, which makes for hilarious moments.
Is the game for fun foods only?
I think ‘anything goes’…. What are your thoughts? š
Yay! When we were in Florida in January there were lots of Russian groceries, it was great fun to look at the candies & jams & whatnot.
Ah, it means you would have to be willing to eat it too ?. Anything is fair game!
Wearing vintage Halston today; a healthy 8 sprays!
My tea of the moment is a homemade yoga tea blend with dried spices of cumin, coriander and fennel.
Oh house twins! You smell gorgeous. I have Halston extrait somewhere, will have to dig it out and wear it tomorrow.
Wonderful, I wore it not long ago, a favourite chypre.
Good morning Y’all!
Not on here much….my life is consumed with work and then tutoring/homeschooling/digital learning, so my time is not my own lately!
Wearing Calvin Klein Downtown for the 1st time (I found it for $12.99 at TJ Maxx back when we could browse perfume to our heart’s content) and I like it! Soft and relaxed fruity floral…..
I miss living right by a tjmaxx..I moved recently..no tjmaxx for several miles. Probably more money saved though. Or money that should be saved, lol
I miss TJ Maxx, the ones out in N. CA aren’t very good. When I’m home in Florida or Longn Island, I make sure to raid my local antique and discount retail stores.
Tea is Turkish coffee
Todayās outfit is blue cashmere sweater cropped and off white akris pants. I dream of shopping at thrift stores again.
Shalimar Vanille flanker
Lovely, I can’t wait to get back to thrifting!! The thrill of the hunt, and when you find that rare item–magic!
You would fit in with my friends
I miss thrifting too!!!Soon I hope !!
my younger daughter, who never liked going to the thrift stores with me before, is now asking to go as well! Such is the boredom from being confined…I “thrift” on Poshmark now, but it’s not the same.
Oh me too! So much!
I’m wearing Blackberry & Bay today. It was the last of a sample, but I’m wondering if it’s decant worthy.
I have mine away to a good home as I eventually got tired of it.
love B&B! It’s so good. š
I’m wearing Iris Nazarena today which I can’t smell at all. I’ll have to remember to wear a stronger scent when working. My face mask is a bit of a bother there.
Tea is a lovely MF flavoured black. I think Montagne d’Or.
Teeny tiny wee dab on the edge of the face mask, not so much as to bother your skin or suffocate you?
I should have brought my decant, that’s what. And I don’t think IN would suffocate me.
Yes, it is Tuesday š
SOTD: Eau des Sens by Diptyque
First time since NYC started social distancing that I had to wait in line to use the elevator to my apt this morning. Not sure why so many are out and about at 8 am in the morning but there you have it. Only one person at a time allowed, which I’m perfectly happy to abide by.
You smell great floragal!
Thank you very much!
Forgot how much I enjoy this one. And it lasts all day ?
Good morning š I am wearing Hermes Eau de Pampleousse Rose today and drinking a cup of Bai Mu Dan white tea.
Ah, and you smell great too Barqs!
You do smell yummy! š
Happy Taco Tues.
A spritz of Ten by SB, which looks like it is gunna be a pass for me. Not really my jam afer all. I haven’t liked many from this line, in the end. There are a few I do enjoy though.
Taco Tuesday in my house too!?
I wasn’t too keen on Ten either. It was a bit jumbled
I have one tiny spray of Rose & Cuir on. It immediately went to my head, and attacked me. I decided to retry it, because I wanted to convince myself to buy the FM Rose Coffret that’s on sale at Neiman Marcus. Money saved! I’m going to scrub and sub, as tiffanie says?
Lol scrub and sub. I wish I could make a purchase with the Neimans sale but have bills to pay….I guess. Lol.
Yeah, bills for me too. I’m now eyeing a Tom Ford travel spray though. Lol
I was on their site this morning too, tempted by the travel spray of Lāeau dāHiver.
Report back on what you scrub and sub with!
You should get it!
I’m now wearing Tokyo Milk Dark Tainted Love.
Thatās a great name for a perfume!??
https://youtu.be/CppOyay3UsM
I was on the BG site last night and did some damage. All along I thought Nordstrom was going to fulfill a pre-sale order but COVID made a mess of things. On the bright side, I ended up with getting the item ++ at 25% off which really means I have money left over. Plus, I am getting $s back from the cr-ppy masks from Custom Ink and I get to keep them…I may use them to experiment with sewing 2 layers and adding a filter pouch…I donāt have high hopes given my track record with sewing.
bye bye R&C! scrub & sub to the rescue. š hope your next scent is a winner.
FM on sale? Oh, you enabler, you.
Dear NM is not doing well. May not last the year.
Rose & Cuir seems to be a difficult perfume for quite a few folks here.
Off work today and sitting in the original Hedonist. Will be getting in the shower shortly. I think Lyric will be a great post shower perfume.
Did you resolve the new work designation from yesterday?
I reminded them about the asthma and backed things up with the CDC web page. We shall see though.
Trying Dzongkha for the first time today. Holy smokes! Why didnāt anyone tell me how great this is?!!!
Oh wait, many of you have. Repeatedly.
Just gorgeous!
Lol. I have yet to try that one.
Me too, but it sounds good
It was on my āto tryā list forever, and then I would get distracted by something new and forget about it. Glad I finally have!
Yeah, I think we might have mentioned š
I think I saw this on sale somewhere (donāt remember where though ?).
I just got a sample of Dzongkha yesterday. So that’s something to look forward to!
TotD is Stash Chai. SotD is Le Labo Musc 25 from a sample. This is nice, but I hate those city exclusive prices.
The sun is out and not much on the agenda except my weekly grocery run. Iāve been going in the morning but decided to sleep in and go this afternoon. Hopefully it wonāt be too crowded.
Lol I read “Stash Chai” as your SOTD and got a little excited by the thought of an SJP Stash flanker š
Oooh I would be interested in Stash Chai as a flanker lol.
Haha, that would be a good flanker!
I’ve got some sun too, but cold. Good luck with the grocery run ?
Thanks. Cold here too (40), but so happy for Sun!??
I hope that your shopping trip was a good one madtowngirl!
Beautiful sunny day here. Thereās a wind advisory but not a leaf is stirring. Strange.
Iām in 7 Virtues Vetiver of Haiti courtesy of a lovely NSTer, in hopes of finding some zen.
Had to venture out to Ingalls yesterday for the makings of beef stew and honey oatmeal whole wheat bread. Forgot my list, but managed to get everything I needed. Amazed by the number of people not wearing masks, including supermarket workers. Weāre not officially open here, but many people are acting like we are. I had a dream last night that I developed a fever and cough…
Sunny out this morning too, finally, but I believe we’re expecting thunderstorms. And it’s in the 50s, which is just wrong for late April.
I am not seeing many masked people here but I have not been in a store in weeks. I hope workers are wearing them.
You must be well stocked. Good planning on your part!
No, I wish! Since my husband is high risk, we decided to have everything delivered, which turns out takes even more time than going to the store.
I have obtained a few things via curbside delivery as well, and the people who bring them out are sometimes wearing masks and sometimes not.
Surprising how long online grocery shopping takes. Sometimes I get frustrated and don’t even finish an order. One should just be able to do it with voice..”Alexa get me Pepto, a Mad Magazine and broccoli soup from Target” and voila…they are at your doorstep in an hour.
Wouldn’t that be nice…
Not a good dream…but you had that already a 2 months back?
I think itās a recurring theme. I have a couple subjects that I have recurring dreams (nightmares) about. Iām sure I have some āunresolved issues.ā ?
lol, my therapist has made a small fortune off recurring dreams š
See, Iām just too cheap and since health insurance doesnāt cover mental health, I guess Iāll keep having recurring nightmares. My therapist has four legs and makes me smile, so sheās totally worth then money o spend on her. ?
Deva, are people not wearing masks there because COVID-19 hasn’t appeared in that area yet, or other reasons?
I guess I can sort of understand people feeling safer in less densely populated areas, not that I would, but I’m the kind of person who always fastened seatbelts before it was the law.
Itās here. We have/had a covid unit in the hospital Iām at and have had deaths as well. Since the social distancing started, the covid admissions decreased and they closed the designated unit unless we get another influx of positive and symptomatic people. We still have a few positive patients, but they are on regular floors. 20 elderly people in a nearby ALF were diagnosed last week. Iāve only been to work, Ingalls, Walmart, and the gas station. Everyone at the hospitals masks, no visitors allowed in at all. Very few shoppers masking at Ingalls and Walmart, and I saw very few workers wearing them. ?
I was scrolling through Twitter today and there was someone who said,
“Who WAS I before the eyeroll emoji?”
?
Here,
it’s really store dependent. Trader Joe’s: All employees were masks, people at the exit and entry wipe all carts, many wear gloves, because the store is busy, all line up, etc. – and many customers wear masks and/or gloves. The local grocery one mall over? Business as usual, but they have always been a quiet store so don’t need to do crowd control.
In Goldea from a decant. The name! Oy. I can’t shake the impression of woman, similar vintage to my grandmother, blue rinse, livid pink lipstick, tubular girdle, loud laugh, not as good at Scrabble as she would like people to think, but has a mean chopped liver recipe. Yep. All that from a name. Goldea. The perfume is okay. I’ll enjoy the decant but I have no need to purchase an FB.
Hi Oaklandf, I feel true need to tell you al about my reading. Yesterday I started The Dutch House
Oh that one looks good!
I’m reading, inopportunely, a book that should not be named lest by naming it I violate the moratorium on political speech here–its been on my side table for months.
My most recent fiction read was My Year of Rest and Relaxation, which was a terrible book to read during a pandemic where no one can leave their house. . . I think I am due for an improbable solving of a gory murder in some picturesque or historical context, once I’ve finished this bit of depressing journalism.
?
I always picture something like a gold-plated IUD or a tube of ‘ exclusive’ HRT oestrogen cream…something like an ointment for the stars
Oish! Bad enough a giant bowl of chopped liver, but now a gold-plated IUD? I can’t unsee that.
“Goldea–golden T, luxur-y! For the woman who has so much to spend on whoopee.”
(Double checks her decant. Yep. Looks the same as it did this morning.)
Birthday gift idea for your sister in law!
That set above looks so appetizing!
I’m in Atelier des Ors Iris Fauve today.
https://www.instagram.com/p/B_P6vd2Bv3E/
Yes, I would take a whole set of those dishes! Love Gien in general.
Your photography is amazing, Lucasai! What a beautiful picture!
Happy Tuesday, all. Thanks to everybody for the flood of well wishes yesterday! It was a busy day, but I got through it, and thankfully today is a little less task-filled.
It’s a lovely day outside of my window. Anybody notice more birds singing, these days?
Yes! Maybe just because it’s quieter otherwise.
Maybe that’s it. Fewer cars. Sadly, the leaf blowers are still going strong in my hood in the mornings.
But right at this moment, there is birdsong, and quiet, and I am celebrating by spritzing a hefty three sprays from my just-barely-there decant of GD Seve Exquise. Might manage to thunk it tomorrow. It’ll be a satisfying yet bittersweet moment. Today, though, I’m just going to enjoy its gloriousness.
RIP Seve Exquise.
Yes, Iāve been loving all the stories about wild animals becoming more relaxed and showing up in formerly busy human filled places. Itās the upside of this for me. Saw an article about lions in Krueger, as well as other animals all around the world. Theyāre probably having a wonderful time in the absence of us two legged folks…
Agreed. Sadly, unlikely to last, but it is really great to see. Nature, and a vacuum.
Happy Belated Birthday, Lisa D!
Thanks, mon ami!
enjoy your quiet(er) day! glad yesterday was good to you. š
I am playing Prince tunes all day long as it is the anniversary of his passing and honestly he was so much more than just what we saw in the biggest hits – although many of them were/are amazing, they are pretty much overplayed. Here is clip of his early practice in 1984 as a young man just the piano, just beautiful featuring what he would do later in life. I hope that you listen to this and are as amazed as I was when I discovered his discography. He is a stake in the ground for me because it was this year that he died that I was to learn shortly of the stage 4 diagnoses of 2 of the dearest people in my life.
His discography really helped me through because it is full of hope and joy and playfulness. He was a prodigy.
https://youtu.be/p9D5K1Pue2
I am off to find an orange scent to match this photo.
That video says “unavailable” AngelaB. Hope you found the perfect fragrance though!
Thanks, oh boo. it was an audio of just piano.
I thought of Prince yesterday and am listening today. He was a musical genius.
Ok try this one: https://youtu.be/p9D5K1Pue2U
As much as I love his guitar playing, the piano is just so beautiful as well.
Fils de Dieu for my FB week, I must wear this more often. Even my boss sniffed happily, his wife hates perfume, but he likes it.
Making tamagoyaki for dinner with a pan I bought in Tokyo last spring. Happy memories!
Smelling great! ??
I always think of you when I am wearing it
Wearing Bulgari blue tea on left arm…
Is your right arm jealous?
š
My right arm has a shalimar/orange sanguine combo, so it’s more that it’s confused…
So your left arm is floating in peaceful meditation and your right arm is donning a negligĆ©e and saying, “Let’s PARTY!”
That explains the confusion brilliantly. š
Wow. LOL!
Super busy for the past 2 days. Grey, rainy, windy day. Tons of coffee and wearing Naomi Goodsir Nuit de Bakelite is chearing me up!
Happy and healthy Tuesday, everyone!
Hope it’s a calming evening later.
Looking forward to it! ?
ooooh, that’s a good one. You smell fabulous. š
Thank you, Tiffanie! It is a very interesting and cheerful perfume!
Hope you see the sun sometime this week! ?
After the crazy stormy weather this afternoon, we had a great sunny end of the day. Let’s hope we see more sun tomorrow! ????
Today is fajita Tuesday, I have leftover steak. The hummingbirds are sucking down the food in the feeder so fast I watch the level drop daily, there must be a nest nearby. I am venturing out this morning to the grocery store, I have no more vegetables or milk and delivery services are backed up weeks, but a wonderful organization called the Portland Mask Project sewed me a mask and delivered it (!) because I am high risk (read *old*). I’m wearing 11 sprays of En Passant because it’s spring. Looking forward to summer.
So nice to deliver the mask to you. Be safe
Yay for double digit sprays and a new mask!
I have had very good luck with instacart by picking a time 5-6 days in advance. Zero luck with peapod and have given up trying.
The trick to Whole Foods seems to be to get your cart loaded, and then obsessively reload the page that shows available delivery times, then if you get a time grab it without even looking at it and pay IMMEDIATELY. If you stop to think if it’s a good time for you, somebody else has already grabbed it.
There is also a chrome extension that will reload the page for you and play a little noise when there is a time slot, but I could not get it to work. Found that on Reddit if anybody wants to google it.
Makes sense because where will you be anyway pretty much regardless of the day / time. I will try the Whole Foods delivery around some point.
Oh… and TP on sale at my Wegmans $6 for pack of 12. Good enough for tushiemoi (and spellcheck did not even try to change this word!).
?
tushiemoi! lol š
? tushiemoi!
I have had good luck in my area recently with Shipt.
Since that worked, I haven’t tried Instacart yet and can’t compare.
Peapod and Amazon Fresh delivery totally booked up.
Boo, I can’t get Shipt where I live! Can’t get Amazon Fresh either, just Whole Foods.
I donāt have a scent of the day yet but plan to look through my partially alphabetized samples for some of those S scents. I just made my new favorite breakfast, a bacon and egg burrito with salsa on a low-calorie tortilla. Yum yum.
We were breakfast twins, almost: I had egg, bacon and cheese on a siete chickpea tortilla. Wish I had some salsa!
The weather has turned a bit chilly and damp here after days and days of teasing spring, so I’m in my old friend Gucci EDP.
Does anybody else think it’s just perfect that Queen Elizabeth shares a birthday with Iggy Pop?
It is glorious — the perfect pairing!
Ha!
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wZsAy9XuX-8
Do you remember this? Iggy Pop and Debra Harry having a swell party ( well, did you ever) from the Aids compliation album
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Hot_%2B_Blue
For the full track listings if you fancy more Cole Porter
Oh my. “Love for Sale” performed by Fine Young Cannibals (who else remembers them?), and “Don’t Fence Me In” performed by David Byrne – amazing. The whole listing is amazing, actually. I’m going to have to go find that somewhere. Thanks for posting that!
I remember that Annie Lennox Every Time We Say Goodbye was a big hit from the album
It’s an awesome birthday sync between those two! ?
Ganymede today. My weather changed but I had some sun this morning.
Mine changed too. About a half hour after I posted I had sun, it started snowing! It was nice while we had it?
Snow! April can be a cruel month.
“Sometimes it snows in April” ?????? š
Oooh oooh, I will wear this tomorrow!
Very changeable weather here, too!
SOTD is Bruno Fazzolari Lampblack, which is Just Right. Love it when the perfume pick ‘fits’.
The sun is out, and I got a decent night’s sleep last night, so my world is a better place today. That’s a good thing! Yesterday I broke my work rules and worked 11 hours starting from 7am… Must Not Do That. Maybe I’ll quit early today and get out for a walk.
You do smell great and so glad the world is doing decently by you today!
SSS Champagne de Bois for me today, which I’ve finally come around to. It smelled too urinous for me years ago when I first tried it, but I tried it again a couple months ago and now it works on me. I’ve had this little spray sample for many years, and I’m now getting close to finishing it. The aldehydic shimmery sandalwood felt right for this cooler, cloudy day. I almost wore Yin & Ylang since a couple of you wore it yesterday, but CdB felt more appropriate. Three sprays to each arm and two to my chest!
Would you say that Champagne de Bois is worth trying?
Yes, I think so, especially if you like aldehydes, sandalwood, and labdanum.
Insolence EDT.
I snagged some pure parfum of this from Ebay that someone bought at the Epcot Guerlain boutique and am going to try that later this week.
beautiful and happy, Insolence EdT is such a good scent. Please do share your thoughts on the parfum. Yum! š
They are both such fun scents! I find the edt a bit ‘more’??
Good afternoon! (At least on the East Coast, U.S.)
Blursday again, but with thunderstorms. I turned off my new-to-me refurbished desktop computer when the thunder started and switched to my laptop. I should go out and pick up a few pharmacy things and foods that were on the other grocery store list, the one I didn’t take to Wegman’s with me. I’m not feeling ambitious about leaving the house, though. š
Scent of this morning/early afternoon: Parfums d’Empire Corsica Furiousa. I like it.
At least Mom and I got out for a little walk in the development on the nice day this week. Sunday, I think? Some folks who live on little side roads we don’t usually go down have blooming double cherry trees — very pretty. I did yard work after that.
I miss Wegmans!
Grocery shopping is a rather grim affair these days. I miss certain aspects of how things were, though I don’t miss trying to get to areas of the store through big crowds of people. I miss being able to see friends in person, though my friends are comfortable talking on the phone.
grim is the right word for shopping IRL these days. I wish I could visit Wegmans often like I did years ago, but I live on the opposite coast now.
I was happily surprised that I heard thunder only a couple of times this afternoon. And no lightning strikes in my area! However, the wind more than made up for the lack of lightning. I’m still hearing the occasional gust outside.
I was thinking about going out after dinner, since there was still some sun. Then the wind picked up and even some of our larger trees were swaying alarmingly. I decided that I really didn’t want to go out that badly. Go figure.
I have lots and lots of books to read at home, print and e-books, so I’m all right with a day of not going out to a store. š
Last night I was planning on going to bed relatively early, and then found that on the Tor website, Judith Tarr was doing retrospective reviews of Andre Norton’s books. And then I found that another author was looking at aspects of C.S. Lewis’ Narnia books.
I had thought for a long time that the bookshelves of science fiction books in our family room were books that Dad had gotten in the 1960s, but he told me recently that they were actually originally his father’s science fiction collection. Papa C. had given me the Dragonriders of Pern trilogy for my birthday when I was in my early- to mid-teens, but certain implications in those books soared right over my head at the time.
But those bookshelves had a good number of Andre Norton’s books, and I’d picked up more of her books up probably when I was in my later teens. I missed implications there too, perhaps, because Ms. Tarr and some of the people commenting are analyzing the thoughts of some of the male characters towards each other with “slash goggles” on. š I’ll have to look at some of those passages again to see if they strike me as homoerotic now that I have more of an idea about the ways that texts and subtexts can be interpreted.
We did go out for a walk this evening, but it required a down jacket which is just ludicrous for April.
I’m ready for warm weather! And sun, too! Sun would be nice. Being in the house a lot when it’s gray outside or going out on a stressful shopping trip are not that helpful for my mood, but I’m trying to keep my spirits up.
I’d made iced tea on Monday night, with decaf English Breakfast and fresh spearmint. Having enough spearmint up now to pick and use for flavoring is one of those little joys in life that I’m trying to appreciate. š
Should be *picked up more of her books when…
Spent the day in Alaia, very ladylike, but am now in the nuclear Rumba.
Lol at nuclear Rumba?
Still too cool where I am at for Alaia. It’s best with temps at least in the 90s for me.
Oh Yes, I can imagine it blooming in the warmer months. It was 15 Celsius and sunny in London but we need some rain.
Speaking of royals, Sweden’s Princess Sofia has taken a training course and will be volunteering at the Sophiahemmet Hospital in Stockholm where she is also the honorary chairperson.
https://www.glamour.com/story/princess-sofia-of-sweden-is-fighting-covid-19-as-a-medical-assistant
The article notes that the hospital has no confirmed coronavirus cases, but it’s reportedly overwhelmed during this time.
I burned some lovely incense this morning. When that’s all gone, I think I will join Robin in Black Rosette from a sample.
Good job, Princess Sofia – do as I do! Even 2019 Miss England went back to being a Jr. doctor. Thanks for sharing.
https://www.oxfordmail.co.uk/news/18391165.scientists-will-capture-scents-old-books-bodleian-exhibition/
This might be the best link but I saw that the great Bodleian library had been planning to open an exhibition of scents ‘harvested’ ( by chemists ) from the books in its collection…the Magna Carta , a first edition of Romeo and Juliet, T.S Elliot manuscript and even the library itself. there are better links but For subscribers of the newspapers. The exhibition is postponed but wouldn’t it be great.
Smell Bent Prarie Nymph, waiting for the sun to come up…which it always does!
https://visit.bodleian.ox.ac.uk/event/sensational-books
The Times and The Telegraph are probably the best links if you are a subscriber
Also…speaking of Iggy Pop. He is one of the people taking part in a daily reading podcast of the Ancient Mariner…with Tikda Swinton, Jeremy Irons, Marianne Faithful, Hikary Mantel….
https://www.theguardian.com/books/2020/apr/18/all-alone-online-iggy-pop-and-jeremy-irons-lead-mass-ancient-mariner-reading
Must check that out!
I love that one and it’s name. You smell marvelous.
Theorema’s in da houzzzz!
Boy this is a beauty.
excellent! š
I managed to squeeze in the orange theme from today’s photo also. ps -Love your avatar.
oh, thank you! a friend gifted me a potted hibiscus last year, it has such amazing flowers. I couldn’t resist taking a photo. š
Oh, one of my faves! I wear it a lot around Christmas time and then wander away from it much of the rest of the year, but I really should wander back…
Yay, I should copy you!
SOTD PdE Yuzu Fou. Started in Shaal Nur, but I needed something with more abrasiveness.
I am in general out of sorts with the whole world. The 99 year old who raised 17 million pounds by walking laps of his garden vs Geraint Thomas who spent 36 hours on Zwift in 3 days and could only raise 360k pound. Really? And people are impressed by the old guy walking laps??
Apologies, but because all routine appointments and routine surgery are cancelled (and though Covid cases are climbing, hospitalizations are way down), our practice has decided that half of us will take leave this week and the other half next week, to be reviewed weekly after that. Being idle during these times is brutal.
My brother is in a surgery practice with 4 others. They decided to have 2 working for 2 weeks onsite while the other 3 work via telemedicine for the same time, then they switch. āBusinessā is down 90%, and whatever surgery has to be done takes more than twice as long with the operating rooms being ummmm positive or negative air something. He had to assume that every patient is presumed positive as far as PPE is concerned and before surgery is done, the patient must test COVID-19 negative via a test from 48 hours prior.
Those operating rooms are probably using positive air pressure to keep possible contaminants out. Negative air pressure would act like a vacuum cleaner and draw things into the room.
I’m starting the day in Guerlain’s Encens Mythique d’Orient.
You smell great!
Ok, it finally happened; Shalimar got me. Or I finally get Shalimar. And now I want to drench myself in it. But Iām not going to do that to my co-workers, Iāll save that for Thursday when Iām working from home.
Yesterday and today are No. 5 Edt. Itās the only other thing that appeals.
I got to see my brother, sister-in-law, and nephew for the first time in a month! My nephew is 5months old; heās getting so big and he can laugh now.
I firmly believe that I’m doing my co-workers a favor when I drench myself in Shalimar. Yay for your family visit! Those very little ones change so quickly, month to month.
I hear ya, I feel ya, it just happened to me as well. Congratulations I know you smell enchanting.
We need to shop together now! š
I fell first for the EdT because that was the sample I had. Are you trying on the EdP?
Still battling my migraine, but it’s eased off a bit today and I’m gingerly wearing a wee bit of Fils de Dieu. Haven’t yet decided if that was a good idea…
Boy, that migraine is really holding on. Fingers crossed it’s gone soon!
Glad it has eased off at least a bit, and hope the FdD doesn’t backfire Isabella.
Iām in 1907 Mon Ame, a gorgeous powdery iris. Perfect for this warm, spring day. I just wish it lasted longer!
Ooh, sounds nice. š
SsotD = l’air du desert marocain (right arm) + au coeur du desert (left arm)
Finally taking time to smell these together. They are very close at first. But after a few minutes laddm smells sweeter and spicier and woodier, au coeur has the same notes with an airy and almost mineral feeling. Love them both.
It’s time for a walk, the sun is shining and there’s a gentle breeze. Perfect weather for breathing deep and smelling things.
Hope this Tuesday-bluesday treats everyone right.
You’re wearing good things to breathe deeply around!
Oh wow! Your scent trail is spectacular!
Wild weather for me today! Already had 2 rounds of thunderstorms so far. The second round had crazy high winds that should have blown down some of the trees in my neighborhood, but thankfully did not. ā”??
SOTD = back in Prada Candy. I’ve gone back and forth on if I want a small spray bottle of this or not. It is an insanely cute bottle. But I’m thinking I should stick to getting bottles only of perfumes that I love. And Candy seems stuck in the “friend zone” for me.
at least it’s a cheap thrill? Is it?
The cute little 0.68 oz bottle at Sephora is $38. I’d say that’s probably a cheap thrill.
And I have 20% off for Sephora Rouge. Not sure if there is a minimum for free shipping. Email me plz if interested, not to enable or anything ?
Naughty!
Wild weather here too but I did not hear any thunder! But oh the wind!
That wind is still howling here! It’s crazy!
After failing to find where on earth I filed away the āS to Zā part of my alphabet of samples, I looked in my regular collection for something springy and found the perfect thingāZoologist Chameleon. Fruity flowery and smoothed out with coconut, very bright and cheerful for our pretty day.
It is amazing how whole groups of samples go missing!
I’m commando – all the people wearing Fils de Dieu are inspiring me to go that route, though!
Tea is Rose City Genmaicha by Smith Teamaker.
Oh that tea does look nice! You like it?
It’s good but it’s that roasted rice tea flavor that I don’t really like that much in general.
Thanks! I like genmaicha but usually not in warm weather — and have never tried it with a floral addition.
I was an almond girl today. Layering PdN Kiss Me Intense and Saab LāEau Couture. If itās Tuesday, itās sandwich-making day. We made over 700 PB&J and Meat/cheese sammies today. And my back held out quite well. Getting the hang of this.
I also stopped at the drugstore because we were getting low on dishwashing liquid and coffee. For those of you discussing TP, I can tell you they were fully stocked near me.
And…as I headed home, I noticed no line to enter Whole Foods, so I ventured in. Bought some hydrangea, which made me quite happy. They seemed decently well stocked on most items. Everyone was fully masked. The streets were really quiet out there today…maybe it was the dicey weather. We even had a tornado warning!
I saw that tornado warning, but wasn’t part of it, thankfully!
I love hydrangea. Idk how I know this but I guess Madonna hates hydrangea cause it doesn’t have scent, or something like that. I think she was rude to a fan who brought her a hydrangea or something.
I love it too.
Yay for hydrangea!
