Rumor is that it's Tuesday? Also, Billie Holiday’s birthday, World Health Day (the theme for 2020: "celebrate the work of nurses and midwives") and No Housework Day (check). What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Hermès Brin de Réglisse. Tea at the moment is a half and half mix of an Upton Assam and Mariage Frères Chandernagor (chai).
Reminder: 4/10 is Siblings Day. Wear two fragrances that might be siblings, or wear one and tell us about the other, or wear a fragrance that your sibling wears, or interpret this project in any way you like.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2020, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

And I will indeed celebrate the work of my 22 y.o. daughter who is a hospital nurse.
? I hope she is doing well. What a scary time to be a relatively new nurse. I love my job, but right now I wish I could just stay home with my family.?
Are you taking care of Covid patients now?
No, not yet? (knock on wood!)
Knocking on wood, crossing fingers and praying for you! ?. Be well!
Let’s hear it for a) all the NST nurses, and b) all nurses everywhere. Three cheers and a HUGE thank you for all that you do every day!!!!!
Yes!!
Yes, so grateful to honor nurses today, and NST nurses in particular!
Adding my three cheers!
Me too!
Yes!
Yay!! Thank you all!! Especially new young ones who really are getting a baptism of fire.
Big thanks from me!
So thankful for nurses everywhere!
Yes, indeed. Big thank you to nurses!
Joining you in honoring her!
Big hugs and thanks to your baby girl.
Many thanks to the nurses who selflessly serve! ❤️
thank you for raising a caring and compassionate human being! 😀 hugs to you and all the marzipans.
Warm thoughts and prayers for your daughter CM8. She is doing vital work!
Thank you to your brave daughter!
Late to the conversa to on, but still wanted to join the chorus of thanks. The nurses who took care of me during my surgery a couple of years ago were extraordinary. I had not felt so well looked after, with such kindness, perhaps ever (certainly not as an adult). Thanks to your daughter, to all the NST nurses, and to all who are out on the front lines trying to hold the world together.
I haven’t made my tea yet..

I almost wore Omnia this morning and thought of you, but I found a little decant of Petit Guerlain and decided to finish it off.
That is lovely Deva. Thanks for sharing.
Wow. I am generally not a poetry person, but that one gets more meaningful every time I reread it. Thanks for sharing.
Deva, you might want to read this; it will not make you any happier but I thought of you when I read it. It is by no means intended to offend anyone.

Thank you for the link! I’m not blinded by patriotism and I have no problem separating the wheat from that chaff. I’m the first to criticize this warped government and the deterioration of the medical system that I’ve been a part of since the 80’s. I don’t want to say anymore because robin would ban me!?
This little blurb explains how most of us in healthcare in the US feel now.
https://youtu.be/L_1PNZdHq6Q
Working since 6am. I started my day finishing my sample of CdG Zagorsk and having a triple strength cup of coffee (à la Bear, hope he is fine).
Zagorsk is the least favorite of the incense series for me. It is nice, but it smells very masculine on me. It faded after an hour, which was actually good. Post shower I sprayed on Tauer Incense Rose, which I am enjoying and it is long lasting.
Planning to do grocery shopping late this afternoon. Not that I am so eager about it, but I have no option.
Have a healthy Tuesday everyone!
I miss Bear. Hope he is healthy and doing well..
Hope so too! ?☕☕☕
I did my grocery shopping first thing this morning and feel the same as you about it. In the last week my local grocery has put up signs at the ends of the aisles making them one way only, which is helping. Of course some people are still dummies and just ignore them and do their own thing.?
I went to my local grocery store yesterday just to find out that they are closing at 3pm now. The only problem there is that it is a small place and despite not being busy they let everyone in and there are no signs at all regarding social distance, which makes me very uncomfortable.
My brother in law is driving to either Trader Joe’s or Stop & Shop so I will take advantage and go with him tonigh. They both close at 8pm, which is pretty convenient for me and people are keeping the distance.
The problem I’m having with my grocery store is that they have severely cut putting items on sale. They are doing this to limit shoppers, they said. However, It has limited the amount of food I can buy/pay for.
My local grocery store stopped the regular weekly sales and in fact raise the prices slightly. I wonder if they are trying to stop people from either buying from them or avoiding over-buying. In my case I keep getting groceries bi-weekly as usual, without any problems, except for toilet paper, paper towels and napkins, which are not easy to find anywhere.
Do you shop at Meijer? It’s my regular store. But the few times I’ve been in, it’s looks like the apocalypse is upon us. ?
I think they’re raising prices to try offset the losses.
Laura, yes, Meijer. They’ve been out of stock with so much and things arnt even on the right shelves. Hardly anything tagged with sale signs.
My theory is raising the prices just enough to increase revenue but increasing by just enough to not be caught price gouging. Groceries seem to have relatively inelastic demand.
Some of it might also be they’re paying extra to expedite delivery from suppliers or are paying more themselves. Those costs are all passed on.
6 am twins! I’m using my huge, long neglected Bugs Bunny coffee mug; looks like it holds at least 2 generous cups.
Wishing you good luck in your shopping adventures.
I am using a forgotten “Welcome to Las Vegas” coffee mug that it was almost hidden in the bag of one of my kitchen cabinets. It is a big one, but unfortunately coffee is not helping much today. I am super sleepy. Another half hour to finish my working day and I will take a nap before heading to the supermarket. At least today is nice outside!
Grocery shopping is a real trial these days. Have a good nap and brace yourself!
Thank you. It is very stressful and tiring. Hope this is over soon!
I hope that your shopping expedition this afternoon turns out well!
Thank you. Not so many people. I just finished washing and putting things in place. I am exhausted! ?
SL Fleurs d’Oranger and Fleurs de Citronnier.
Layered?
What version of FdO are you wearing? From the new bottle or an older bottle?
Yes, although not on top of each other. FdC on the left arm, FdO on the right arm.
It is a decant, so it is hard to say. But I got it five years ago, so it cannot be very new. FdC is definitely from an older bottle.
LOVE SL Fleurs D’oranger! Such a happy choice right now 🙂 Is the newer bottle version no good? I have never tried the other one but will look out for it now!
The newer one doesn’t have any cumin (to my nose), and is a little more jasmine forward on me.
I have not tried the newer bottle, so thanks, rayleighblue, for reporting.
Sisters! I did SL Fleurs d’Oranger and Houbigant Orangers en Fleurs (courtesy of a generous NST swapper).
It is a great pairing!
It poured here last night and is cool today with more rain expected so I am pretending it’s still winter…
Burning a Nest Sugar Cookie candle and wearing Solstice Scents Owl Creek Aleworks…notes are Sticky English Toffee Pudding, Blackburn’s Parlor Vanilla Ice Cream, Caramel, Toasted Coconut & Hazelnut, Sugared Pumpkin Cream Stout
I will take that on a sugared cone, one scoop
Or sandwiched between two cookies please.
She-ra, those notes are so cozy and you must smell amazing!
Thank you…I sure do! 😉
I keep thinking of this clip as the days go by not ‘feeling’ as they usually do!
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=KfhFfDQ8YJo
At the moment my scent is a product of my frequent hand washing… Pre de Province Linden soap which feels very early summer! Thanks for the great photo Robin! If anyone is looking for a photographic diversion go to Shorpy.com. One of my most favourite websites ever… fascinating.
I follow Shorpy on Feedly and enjoy it a lot! All those little time capsules 🙂
So funny — forgot that bit entirely!!
I’m wearing Hermes Eau de Mandarine Ambree.
Mmm you smell great.
I am sampling two totally different scents today
On my left arm Equistrius (Parfum d’Empire)
On my right arm Eau de Monsieur (Goutal)
They are both almost edible.
Equistrius has hints of cacao. And in Eau de Monsieur I smell a herb also used in the kitchen.
I think the new EdM is minty?
I dont get any mint, I think this EdM is the old version! (A friendly NSTer gave it to me)
I’ve never tried the new one, but the old one has a healthy dose of immortelle and a strong green herb note. Maybe lavas?
Spending the morning awash in Coco Mademoiselle. I am really trying to use up some of my candles. My count is about 34 and most of them are a straight up apple from BBW. I am thinking of starting the Rose Water and Ivy. Trying to figure out who will be coming for Easter. After my shower, I think that Noontide Petals will do.
Wow, 34 is a lot of candles!
It is. When I did a big clean last year, I noticed that I had an easy 20 something but I think the candles started to have babies. So now I have to start using them.
Ah yes. The problem of breeding candles.
I became obsessed with B&BW candles about 7 years ago. I came to the point of having around 100 of the big jars, especially the apple ones that are my fall favorites. I had to stop that craziness when I run out of space to store them. I am down to 21 now. I think I will not go insane again, but I may get few of the apple ones when I run out of them.
Virtual or physical for Easter? I ordered Easter lunch for 4-6 people and I am dining alone and will have plenty of leftovers ?
Not sure they’re siblings, maybe distant cousins, but I’m wearing a combo of Ta’if and Amber Mystique.
Nice to see you Elisa!
🙂
Inspired by sistine, I’m in Wood Sage and Sea Salt today.
My husband sent me an article yesterday saying that John Taylor of Duran Duran has recovered from the coronavirus. I’ve always loved Duran Duran. We recently watched a concert of theirs on PBS and as they played Ordinary World, I couldn’t help but think that some of the lyrics are especially fitting right now.
For your viewing pleasure:
https://youtu.be/oUt1-Y6oBsk
And yes, John is still hot.?
Ooooh, as a pre-teen and teenager back in the day, I LOATHED Duran Duran. Oddly, as an adult, they’ve kind of grown on me. I genuinely like the cover of Save a Prayer by Eagles of Death Metal (hint, not a death metal band). Anyway, thank you for posting that clip. Although Simon with a beard? Ugh, no thanks!
What?! You loathed Duran Duran? Lol. Glad you liked the link.?
Yay John Taylor!
I know!???
There was an interesting Showtime bio piece on Duran Duran recently.
Ooh, thanks for the info! I don’t have showtime but I’ll do some googling and see if I can find it.
Yes – I saw and enjoyed it very much! Also the ZZ Top documentary on Netflix was great!
I hadn’t heard about John Taylor. Wow.
I’m wearing First. I was THIS close to buying Bruno Acampora Prima T for way too much money yesterday, but then I remembered First and I was right, I don’t need both. Also enjoying a Bigelow fig candle, it’s a nice coconutty fig if you like that kind of thing, which is making my little workspace feel cozy.
That’s interesting. Prima T reminds me of Joy, which shares some things with First–jasmine, rose, ylang ylang+ kitchen sink.
Lol, kitchen sink!
First is wonderful.
Wearing Mon Guerlain body lotion.
As a fan of beer, I’m also celebrating National Beer Day and tonight I will drink to World Health Day and most especially nurses and midwives. (I can also get on board with No Housework Day.) Happy Tuesday, all.
On a warm day there’s nothing better than a cold beer. A friend of mine posted on Facebook that he feels like his part time job is loading beer into his fridge lol.
? ?
You are reminding me of my Dad. He grew up in Montana. On hot weekend days after working outside in the yard, he’d come in and make himself a red beer. Beer and tomato juice.
I will join you. Seeing the health care worker in scrubs yesterday at the hospital door with his “XO” sprayed across his chest was so touching.
I think I will have a Guiness, what about you?
I like Guinness, but I think we are out – it will likely be Redhook ESB tonight. (I also like Modelo and Widmer Hefeweizen with a little lemon. Plus a whole bunch of microbrews!)
*Clinks glasses with AngelaB* 😀
I saw a cute picture on Facebook yesterday of three doctors in bunny suit protective gear with photographs of their faces taped to their chests, so the patients could see who was caring for them. I thought that was so touching.
Love that!
adorable!
last night I dreamed that I was out in public and everyone was wearing their disposable masks with smiles they’d drawn on with Sharpie marker. 😀
What a touching gesture!
Oh that is so kind. Brings tears to my eyes.
Cheers! ? I have a couple of beers chilling in the fridge. I might join you too.
I’m in another blind buy: Le Bain, by Joop! Highly change-able. I’ve been sniffing it for a few days, and I get different impressions each time. This morning, when I removed the cap and sniffed the bottle, I could swear it smelled like Botrytis, or some other honey-intensive scent. After application, on my skin it now smells like almonds, with a slightly bitter undertone. On a previous day, it reminded me of a cross between Arabie and Casmir, but diluted. This is going to take a lot more testing to get a handle on it. Or, maybe changeability is its handle.
Happy Tuesday, everybody.
All those iterations sound good and changeability could be fun.
Everybody wore this when I was younger. And in overdose too. It’s a nice scent, when it’s not too much.
My cousin in Switzerland has been wearing this scent for more then 20 years! I have a bottle in her honor. I spritz it into a bath sometimes
Good morning 🙂 Robin, you smell great.
I am wearing Prada Infusion d’Iris and drinking a cup of chai tea.
Why thank you and so do you ☕
Smelling beautiful, Barqs! You’re wearing one of my all time favorites today. 😀
Yum! Chai tea! ☕
Wearing En Voyage Zelda, ooh I do love this perfume. A little different green facet gets attention every time I wear it. It’s so warm here today that Larry the cat and I have a couple windows open on the porch, he’s an inside kitty but a ferocious virtual hunter. It’s fun to watch him cuss at the squirrels 😀
I love Zelda and have been meaning to wear it lately, but something else keeps winning out. But it’s defintely on my mind.
Hehe I like the idea of your cat cussing at squirrels.
His teeth chatter instinctively when he sees potential prey like birds and squirrels. He even takes his toy mice and drops them in his water dish sometimes before he plays with them so they feel more “real,” the vet says it’s a strong hunting instinct. I’m wanting to get him one of those floppy fish toys that show up on Facebook sometimes but they’re kind of pricey and I’m afraid Larry would destroy it instantly ?
There are great mouse toys that squeak when your kitty baffs them! We also swear by Da Bird although if your cat has a VERY strong hunting instinct you’ll need to keep him from chewing or asphyxiating it (they’ll put it under their chest to choke it out) as they don’t fly as well once the feathers have been broken.
Thanks I’ll check it out!
I put up a bird feeder outside and it’s getting a lot of visits from doves. My cats watch avidly and do that chattering thing too. It’s so cute, I must try to get a video. A friend got me (my cats) one of those fish toys. It just scared most of them although one loved it. I think it’s well-made and will stand up to a lot. I bought my cats a puzzle feeder and every so often fill it with treats. It really keeps them occupied!
https://www.instagram.com/p/B-ru4rOJUDs/?igshid=1huf3muowzq6y
Zelda is the bomb! It morphs on me all day?
Awwww… Larry!
Love the visual of Larry chirping. It’s so funny when cats do that.
My cats have a squirrel arch-enemy, too. They go absolutely nuts if they catch sight of it strolling across our patio.
I’m wearing L’Erbolario Meharees, which is Musc Ravageur’s much cheaper sibling. I just checked and Amazon has a bunch of L’Erbolario products right now, and Meharees is $32. L’Erbolario’s availability in the US seems to come and go. I love this perfume. It’s big and lasts forever on me. This is our coolest weather day this week, so a perfect chance to wear this perfume. It is definitely not office friendly!
For a short time, they even had stores here…I remember the one in King of Prussia mall. I guess I should have spent more money there to keep them in business.
Wow, I’d love to go to their store. I’ve heard someone call them the B&BW of Italy years ago.
Except it was not that cheap…it was like being in L’Occitane, where everything costs just a little more than I want to spend!
Possibly in Italy it is much cheaper.
It’s discontinued, I think
That’s terrible!
Irish Leather for me today.
A totally random, off topic story that I feel the need to unburden!: We have a credit card associated with our bank on which, at one point a few years ago, we were carrying quite a lot of debt. That year, in 2016, my husband and I visited a winery near Placerville, CA and purchased two bottles of wine. I, of course, promptly forgot the name of the winery etc. but had pleasant memories of its terrace and the view. Fast forward to this past weekend. We are no longer carrying any debt on the card, and in fact only use it for monthly deductions from our alarm company, the local public radio station—that sort of thing. On the statement online I noticed that there was a charge for about $55 on April 1 from something called–well, I won’t say, but it sounded like a restaurant or something… not sure. Not being a huge charge, I would normally assume my husband had grabbed a meal somewhere and took out a colleague. But if your April 1 was anything like our April 1, there was no chance that there had been a restaurant lunch with colleagues. After a few calls to the bank, and to the business, and poring over years of old bank statements, it turns out that the winery has been charging us quarterly for two bottles of wine for the past four years! I hadn’t noticed because 1. the name sounds like a restaurant, 2. the winery changed its name in 2017, 3. we had so many charges for so long I stopped being vigilant, 4. it was quarterly, sort of, but not always exactly—so not a regular thing, 5. it wasn’t enough of a charge to alarm me. Fortunately, the woman I spoke with at the winery was responsive–ostensibly we will be credited nearly $800 . . . she says that somehow the winery charged our card for the wine club membership of someone with the same last name as my husband, and somehow those charges continued to go through even though the winery changed its name, and our credit card number changed at some point. Apparently “Molly” OaklandFresca even came to the winery a couple of times and purchased wine, charged to us—but had rarely or never collected her wine club wines–which after four years, should have been some sort of tip-off for the winery, no?
That’s so weird! Glad you’ll get a refund.
So glad they are refunding you!
Wow, what a story! Glad it is solved so relatively easily.
Oh my lord! I would have lost it. I’m so bad about regular checking my statements. Glad you will be getting your money back
Wow! I really should check my credit cards
Let us know when you get the refund. I smell something fishy.
I agree with Hajusuuri, it sounds fishy. I hope you get the $800.
Wow! I hope you get your refund quickly, what an experience.
What a bizarre story! Hope the winery does right by you.
Wearing Jardin Sur le Nil today, inspired by…I can’t remember, someone on here was wearing it yesterday. Thank you for the inspiration, this is such a glorious scent that I’ve neglected all winter.
I have a bottle I will have to dig out, I just watched Persolaise’s post about his top incense perfumes and this was among them. A few people say it really blooms in heat – I will have to remember it in warm times to come.
Finished filing for unemployment today. I thought I would be getting my regular income, but I guess that’s not how it works. Slightly stressed now.
Sotd is Coco Noir so I smell great ?
Drink of the day is

Because when times are tough, I go back in time ?
Hilarious, I loved Tab. I am going back in time by listening to songs from the 90s
Only the happy ones, though!
Didn’t know about Tab, it is not imported to the UK, your day sounds stressful indeed and you do smell great.
Tab is great, but I can only drink it every so often.
Unemployment is 60% base salary, iirc? I had to file for it years ago and I remember being stunned at how little it was. ..??
It’s going to be about a hundred dollars less a week. Which is a huge difference for me.
I was such a Tab fiend! Nothing like the bite of an icy Tab! Thanks for this video, lillyjo!
It’s only in cans now, but remember the glass bottles? All soda tastes better in glass!
I think the Stimulus package is supposed to top it up to your regular income. Most state’s unemployment computer programs are quite old and is not capable of making the required changes timely to give you the correct amount. If I were you, I would read up further. The New York Times is providing a no fee access to COVID-19 related news; there’s an FAQs section you may find useful.
I’ve been reading up on it, and the way I understand it we are supposed to get more. However, I called a few people that have been on unemployment for a month now, and they say no increase has happened yet. So maybe it will take awhile longer. I’m not expecting anything until the week of the 19th.
So sorry about the unemployment money stress. I think Hajusuuri may be right about the stimulus package, do check into it further. Up here in Canada they are giving $2,000 per month.
I will keep checking on it, for sure.
Unemployment never is a 100% replacement for lost income. It was set up like that so people would go out and get new jobs. I heard a lot about it on NPR this past Sunday.
This is my first time not working since I was 15. I’ve been fortunate not to have known the system.
I am sad and bluesy today over people, events I cannot control or change. I sure wish I could:(. It hurts that I can’t.
I will probably open up my bottle of Tresor, if only to smell good for myself.
And yet I have also been feeling, Omega, that even though we feel powerless in the face of so much suffering and disruption, this is a time when what each individual does is very important — whether one is on the front lines of health care or essential services, striving to maintain normalcy for ones children, to comfort distant loved ones, to stay informed and vote, donating to help those in need, refraining from hoarding, diligently social distancing, or simply staying the eff at home to protect oneself and others. This is a powerful time when what each of us does truly matters.
Take good care an smell fierce!
Well said!
Open that bottle. It really is a gorgeous perfume!
A virtual hug for you ?
Sending you hugs. It will get better!
A friend and I were chatting online today, we both feel a little blue too. We agreed today will be Tuesday-bluesday. We give ourselves some time and space to feel things, then will check in with each other tomorrow, and move on if we can. I hope you feel better soon.
Tresor is a good one, which I only recently discovered.
Tresor is such a pretty rose perfume. ? Hugs.

Thank you Robin, I am more a Whartonian but these the article and video make a visit very tempting.
Finishing up a very old decant of Creed Zeste Mandarine Pampelmousse. Doesn’t fit the season but nice, unisex cologne.
No-housework day? I’ll drink to that! I’m in Eau de Narcisse Bleu today — it feels like a good one for early cold spring, hinting at sunny summery warmth to come but dewy and tender and dampishly green.
Twins! This has turned put to be my favorite of the Hermes colognes.
It is with a twinge of regret that I announce that kind Customer Service folks were able to cancel my order of two 55-lb sacks of powdered milk and instantly refund my $345, so that I was able to order two 5-lb bags in there place.
I had grown fond of the comforting, almost-presence of those two stolid 55-lb sacks of powdered milk, which would not only have carried me through any pandemic, but would also have done duty as sandbags in case of flood, siege, or revolution. And not forgetting the prospect of restorative milk baths, as recommended by pyramus, in happier days to come.
I console myself with the freshly resinous SSS Pacific Forest, which is not far from the curiously spicy scent of Muir Woods, as I remember it from the early 1990s.
Haha – you are too funny!
This was by far my favorite mistake ever! ?
Ah, so sorry! I hope whoever gets those bags appreciates them as much as you would have!
They were from a bakery supply company, so I’m sure they’ll make many people happy and better nourished!
🙂 I just imagine the giant bags as they would have stood in your kitchen.
Guardians — I’m tearing up just thinking about it!
Are you related to CM8? Her comments double up and your ordering finger did too ?. Glad it’s straightened out.
And…we’re house twins today!
Me, too, actually. We have too much humidity here for the giant bags to last the summer, I’m afraid.
SSS kindly tucked some samples in with my order, so I’ll try Rose Volupte soon.
LOL. You smell great!
I’m SO glad SSS is back!
This was THE BEST story though!!! Glad you’ll have a happy ending ?
😀 😀 😀
I had to go out for perishables today, needed gas, and also needed to run the car to keep the battery charged, so I drove to a Costco 25 minutes south of here. During “senior hour” the outside line ran the length of the warehouse, made a u-turn, and came back nearly to the entrance. There must have been 300 people. Most wearing masks, but standing about three feet apart. I turned around and went to my neighborhood grocery where there was hardly anyone there, but last week it was packed. They had eggs, butter, dairy, ground beef, fresh bread, and fresh veg. I saw yeast, some flour (but not a lot) and toilet paper but I didn’t buy any, I still have enough.
I hope Cazaubon has a better experience at her Costco in Canada. I came home, put stuff away, and sprayed on some Memo Tamarindo. Going for a walk later, it’s a lovely sunny day here, and I solidly support No Housework Day.
I have totally forgotten about the car battery thing. I’m avoiding Costco. I just don’t have the energy to go and then spend the next 14 days worried
Unfortunately not, we stood in a line that snaked around the building for 1.5 hours, and it was not even 40F. I got quite cold on the shady side of the building. Next month (because we wanted to buy enough to last a month) we will come during the day. The line was shorter when we left.
Glad you had a relatively easy trip at your local grocery store.
I’m glad you were able to find provisions and avoid the crowds! We haven’t been able to buy flour (or TP, but somehow flour feels more critical) for a month. Even the oddball flours have been wiped out!
In a generous application of Tom Ford Champaca Absolute as I suspect it has evaporated a bit. I like it very much, it’s a quiet TF for a change, delicately floral and gourmand, lots of vanilla on my skin.
Ah! I doused myself with Tom Ford Chamoaca before a transatlantic flight, and the memory makes me happy!
Glad this triggered a happy memory, and what a judicious choice for a flight.
Sounds like you smell wonderful!
In How You Love by Jazmin Sarai.
My Theorema ebay order came but it’s in quarantine until tonight. Hopefully the bottle will be legit. I’m worried cuz it was significantly cheaper then the others on ebay.
I hope your bottle is perfect! Report back.
Fingers crossed!
Wearing Pacifica lemon blossom, Sunny and cheerful!
🙂
Love this one! It’s one of my summer staples.
Wearing Chypre Mousse today, two sprays last the whole day.
Today one of my patients was admitted to the hospital showing signs of Covid, test results will be there tomorrow. And I thought her constant wheezing and coughing was because of her lung carcinoma. Now we are all contact persons, and because we don’t have the safer masks we are also at risk. I will now sleep on the sofa, apart from the boyfriend, hopefully I am am not contagious. This makes me really angry…
Oh my gosh I am so sorry to hear that tannina.
I will keep you in my prayers.
Is this the first patient at your hospital? What happens now to your work environment? Can they get better equipment and tests for you?
Yes, I’m really angry as well. Healthcare people, as well as grocery staff, police, EMS personnel here are being treated as a disposable commodity. I can’t even guess the number of unnecessary cases of illness and death among these groups. And we will NEVER know, because no one is being tested here, and there is not backtracking (at least here in the IS) to isolate staff who have been exposed to patients who later in admission test positive. I had a patient with projectile vomiting last week who proved I’m getting old and not moving fast enough, because he got my entire left leg. He was later transferred to ICU, and there has been no info. I can’t even look up his current lab results due to HIPPA. HOSPITALS ARE NOT PROTECTING CARE GIVERS HERE! So ANGRY!
I hope continue to do well. Are you able to be tested where you are?
If the patient is tested positive then I think we will get tested in some days. But no quarantine for medical personnel until we get sick ourselves… Just wear a surgical mask and keep working. No fun!
Holy moly. That sounds like a recipe for further transmission!
Hope that things turn out ok for you. Thank you for all that you are doing for people!
Sorry to hear that. I hope everything is fine with you and you stay healthy. Maybe the patient’s result will turn out negative. Sending hugs.
I’m so sorry, that is really stressful. I hope it turns out well for you.
Yikes!!!! Crossing my fingers for you tannina! What a shame that you guys aren’t better protected since you’re working with vulnerable patients anyway!!!
Oh geez. That’s terrible.
I’m so sorry, it’s really unconscionable.
Went to Costco this morning, what a nightmare. Took 3 hours, then had to come home and disinfect/put everything away. Had a shower and sprayed on Ambre Russe. Going to take a nap now!
Sweet dreams!
Thank you! I feel better and happy it’s over.
Disinfecting and putting things away has become a huge task that drains my energy quickly. I don’t know why. For sure a nap is needed after it. Hope you wake up very refreshed!
Much better now, thanks!
Hope the map was restorative! I would suggest hitting smaller local supermarkets as very odd hours to decrease you level of stress. I think I’m going to be your nap twin this afternoon. ?
Thank you all, had a good nap! Despite the ordeal, I’m not sorry we went, as we now have enough food to last for a month. My goal is to go as infrequently as possible. But we will not go first thing in the morning to that particular Costco, got a hot tip on which one is least busy. 🙂
The best advice for grocery shopping seems to be “don’t go!” so good for you for stocking up. 😀 I took a shower after running an errand this morning. A friend who worked as an elementary school teacher told me she learned to take a shower immediately after returning home after school each day. She said it cut down on her colds and flu tremendously.
Happy Tuwesday. It’s all a blur. I am in Ambra Aurea.
I stayed up late last night reorganizing my samples, and it carried on into this morning.
I must have transferred things 4 times into various sized boxes, displayed in various ways, before I got it finished. It really feels good now to have all the ‘siblings’ together and everyone in one place.
Stay well.
How nice it have samples sorted! I’m always amazed at how quickly I mess things up rifling around. Well wishes to you, too 🙂
Good job!!!
oh fantastic! you’re an inspiration, I really need to do the same thing, and stick to it until it’s finally done. I’ve started and stopped organizing the sample/decant/FBs too many times to count in the past few weeks.
Hi friends, I’m in SL 5 o’clock au gingembre today. I haven’t been spending much time on NST lately :-/ I’ve been keeping extremely busy. I’m still working (from home, thankfully), but everyone keeps talking about how they have tons of excess time to spend on projects, so I’ve been feeling pressure to do lots of non-work stuff, too. So I’ve been baking a LOT (chocolate macarons, lime macarons, lemon poppyseed pound cake, focaccia, ciabatta, sourdough, baguettes, fudge cookies, …and I might make doughnuts later today), and have also been writing a lot of music, and even recording some of it! I’ve put a few videos up online, which I’m pretty proud of. I’ve also been exercising a lot to keep from going crazy. So with all these side ventures, I’ve got no free time left at all. On the upside, keeping busy keeps me from getting too sad.
Wishing you all the best of health (physical and mental), especially all you amazing essential workers keeping the world moving.
It sounds like you have been making really good use of this unexpected turn of life/the world!
I am certainly trying 🙂 How about you? Do you think you’ve been able to take any advantage of the state of things? I will find out a little once I get to your post 🙂
One thing I’m doing that I wouldn’t have otherwise is finally starting to edit documentary footage I shot three years ago. Silver lining
Wow, that is so cool! What is the documentary going to be about?
You smell great. 🙂 Don’t feel like you have to be productive all the time, be sure to rest too.
Thank you <3 I really need to keep this in mind!!! I have trouble resting and staying sane, especially at times like this.
writing music? that’s awesome 😀 glad you’re staying busy! It’s my stress-reducer too.
Last week I had a sore area on my lower back so I thought I needed to stretch and walk longer and do more yoga to make it loosen up. Still no better after five days of pushing myself, I finally took a day off and rested. Lo and behold, my back was all better the next morning. I’d messed myself up with overuse. I guess the dogs being walked to much have a thing or two to teach us all – it’s ok to take a day off.
Oof! I am so glad your back is feeling better. You’re so right. I need to keep your story in mind in the coming days 🙂
Yay for baking and doing lots of fun stuff, but please do schedule in some down time!
Thanks, Jalapeno, you’re totally right! I need to start trying to do that.
Lol I know exactly what you mean! If I hear one more person say “since I have so much time now, I decided to _______” I shall scream! I mean, I know I’m lucky to still have a job. And some people have even less time – like educators who are working long hours to figure out how to teach online.
Ahhh yes! Thank you! I’m so busy trying to remember how incredibly lucky and privileged I am that I don’t really feel allowed to complain about how I have no time at all and feel pressured to take on projects. Gah!

In other news, have you ever figured out the key you least likely use? I found out mine by accident. ~ 3 months after first using the newish laptop (bought about a year ago but did not open until January), it must have been the first time I decided to use square brackets. Found the open square bracket key, pressed it, nothing; pressed it again, nothing. Used shift and the same key and got the curly bracket as depicted on the key. Pressed again, nothing. What the freak? I don’t know why weird things like this happen to me…like an inexplicable inability to use a dash in Excel, sometimes, but only when I’m on the office computer). Anyway, I googled and figured out that I can use 0091 (must be from the numbers keypad) to make one appear. Lesson Learned – avoid using square brackets when a regular parenthesis will do. Oy!
Oh how funny – my first thought was about physical keys, like door keys or mailbox keys (my least used is the front door key, because we never use the front door). But keyboard keys – I think I use them all except for most of the F-keys and the “Insert” key (I only hit that one by mistake, and then am very sorry). My boss (who is a very fast typist with a very firm downstroke) uses most of them to the point where the letters on them wear off – she has mostly-bald keys. 🙂
ha! I have a few bald keys too. I blame my piano teacher and her insistence on a firm touch. 😀
LoL…I should have been more obvious that I meant a keyboard … also, it seems that html swallowed my depiction of an ALT key so you do need it and the string of numbers .
I’m old enough to have used a manual typewriter and you need a heavy touch…for my laptop, I think the keys are more sensitive so much so I do not have to use a heavy touch!
Ah! I remember trying to learn touch typing on those manual typewriters. My friends and I called them “typewrongers”.
I had guessed the background as a needlepoint pillow, before reading. Nice towel!
Thank you…I now have other towels so this pattern has kept its color nicely with infrequent use / washing.
love that towel! 😀 very pretty perfume too.
Thank you!
Hmmmmmmm… that travel spray looks awfully familiar! Maybe because I have one, too? ?
I knew someone else was naughty ?
Those sales are dangerous!
SOTM was Autoportrait, which it turns out I wasn’t really in the mood for. Luckily, it is relatively short-lived on me. It’s a gorgeous day here, and thanks to a reminder above I will go run the car around a bit this afternoon to keep the battery charged. Mr. G and I plan to go outside after dark and look at the pink moon.
My mother’s battery died entirely because she’s been holed up so long!
Ugh. State parks, state forests, and county parks have now been closed by the governor in NJ. Too many people were not observing social distancing in those spots. ??? More towns at the Jersey shore are closing their beaches, too.
On a lighter note, earlier today Mr. Jalapeno evicted some birds that were trying to build a nest in our kitchen exhaust vent. He’s rather confident that they won’t be back.
SOTD = Chanel No. 19 Poudre, from the sample stash.
They closed our national parks in Canada, not sure about provincial ones. So far the city parks in Montreal are still open but heavily patrolled by police to avoid gatherings.
In San Diego I hear the parks and beaches are closed.
I think our parks our still open, but I’ve heard they have had to break up crowds. It really hasn’t been that warm yet here for people to be wanting to be out other than a walk.
The biking and hiking trails here are still open, but there are a number of beaches and parks that are locked up or being patrolled by lifeguards and police to keep people away. It really made me sad the day that happened, the outdoors is my happy space, and I know it is for many others too. But I guess it is worth it in the end if it helps people keep their distance.

Saw your post yesterday re: ShopRite…same with Wegmans. I’ve also decided to wipe down groceries that need to be refrigerated with a water and vinegar spray unless they can be washed. The rest stay in the bags for a day, then I wipe them down with water + vinegar and then let them air dry on newspaper and they will stay there a few days before I put them away.
One of my friends works at a Wegman’s. She’s had plenty of work woes to report lately.

Hajusuuri, I really like the setting aside groceries tactic, because the less handling, the less likely one is to spread around whatever is on them.
I have read, however, that vinegar doesn’t kill this virus, as it takes something like alcohol or soap that dissolves its outer fat coating.
I’m putting the things that need to be refrigerated into clean or aged bags and stowing them in the fridge for a day or two, and washing hands after handling them at any point. Also mainly eating things cooked.
The flaw in my approach is the virus may last longer in the refrigerator. Nonetheless, low contact surfaces are not its main form of transmission. Inhaling droplets or aerosols, and shaking hands, then touching face are the big risks.
It sounds like a bleach solution can work:

Not on my food though…plus no bleach in this house although I probably just need to do a little reconnaissance in the laundry room. I need to find my spray alcohol.
Oh you smell so amazing!
Good morning everyone, I hope everything is as good as it can be for all of you in these difficult times. I’ll be commuting to the lounge shortly, and have decided to accompany the still and grey day with Bois d’Encens.
gotta love that short commute! I’m all about silver linings today. 😀
Bois d’Encens is great on rainy days.
That’s a GOOD one!!
Well, I’m back from the grocery stores. I went to two stores and found everything we needed except flour. Well, I bought a box of cake flour, not that I need cake! Neither store was busy, thank goodness. Wore mask and gloves. The mask actually reminded me to stay calm, because when I was in hyperventilation mode, my glasses fogged up which compelled me to stop and collect myself.
Five hours, start to finish, to shop, sanitize, put away (cram into the fridge/freezer) and clean the counters and sink.
Wore BK Rose Oud for the shop and Arielle Sunday after my shower. I will be chilling for the remainder of the day.
My glasses fog up every time I wear a mask and I don’t know how to prevent that from happening. If I take them off I can’t see very well, but I need to do it constantly. Super annoying! ?
Jalapeno brought up a good point; maybe fiddling with the fit at the top of the mask would help. Yes, it is quite annoying!
I doesn’t work much for me, Patience!
Surgical tape around the upper edge would seem ideal. Who cares if it looks weird, we want people to keep their d***** distance.
Thanks for the tip. I will try with the tape.
I was so happy to find the 25lb bags of flour in stock at Costco! I have tons of other ingredients but really needed the flour to do baking. Good point about the mask!
Wow, you must be doing a lot of baking! I’m glad you hit the jackpot with the flour. ?
go you! I’m glad things worked out ok, and that you’re taking it easy now. Last week I had to take a nap after going shopping and then putting away groceries. It’s exhausting.
Naps after grocery shopping are a must. I’m trying to weigh the risks between doing my own shopping versus doing a store pickup. It wasn’t crowded, and I was in PPE, but I was in the stores for a couple of hours. But if you use a store shopper, they are in the stores touching things all day. And none of those folks were wearing masks or gloves! I don’t know what to do when we need food again. ?♀️
Yes, I hate the glasses fogging up with a mask thing too. Ugh
I’ve had some luck with reducing the chances of my glasses fogging up while wearing a mask if I make sure that the top of the mask is very snug against my face. It’s not entirely foolproof though.
Tape is definitely the way to go. Or spirit gum if you’re going fancy!
I’m wearing Diorella, a scent I adore and almost never wear.
I had a tiring but surprisingly nice day at work. The ladies I worked with today did their job with such discipline and dedication that it was a joy to work with them.
Plus I got an invitation for a job interview. It will be by phone or video conference, but it is a job I’ve been coveting for a couple of years so, fingers crossed. I wasn’t selected last year, but maybe I’ll be more lucky this time round.
Good luck! ?
That sounds like a good day. Best of luck for the interview!
Wishing you super good luck!
fingers (and toes) crossed for you!
Good luck! I know what coveting a job is like, hope your interview goes well.
Best of luck with the interview! ??
Congrats/good luck! All of my interviews have been put on hold 🙁
Yay! Good luck!
Best of luck, although I’m sure you don’t need it! Keep us updated.
Good luck on the interview! I would be wary of switching out now though so hopefully you get chosen and that you have enough time to transition.
Best of luck for the interview!
The ‘Best of Luck’ to you austenfan, that would be wonderful!
We can all celebrate!
SotD = Apres L’ondee
It’s raining here and will continue on and off for the next four days or so. It feels good to be hunkered down with nowhere to go. I have the urge to bake something.
Did not plan to do any housework today, lol, but I am running one load of laundry at the moment. I had help today so we powerwashed the front of our house. I’m washing a load of towels now. There’s always one window that leaks! The floor in that room needed mopping anyway. Tempest in a teacup, truly, but that’s enough drama for Tuesday-bluesday.
Be well, be safe, NSTers! and I hope you will (virtually) hug someone today.
I did one load last night…it should have been done over the weekend but heh, I’m home and no reason not to do it!
Today was a Jovoy Pavillon Rouge kinda day. Gorgeous rich tobacco soaked leather layered with vanilla and then I get some kind of dark juicy red fruit soaked in whiskey or something like that. Yum.
Deep gassho to all healthcare workers the world over.
Wow, Jovoy Pavillon Rouge sounds wonderful!
Hi all. So worrying about risks that essential workers are facing right now. I’m not going to grocery stores but have a pickup slot for Saturday and feel lucky to have gotten it.
Today I’m wearing Coromandel. (Spellcheck wanted that to be “Coronavirus.” No thanks!)
People are putting teddy bears in windows here for parents and children to look for when they go put on walks. Last night I dug put three from a bag in my garage and set them up in my windows. Well, one is actually a cat, but it will pass from a distance. It is oddly cheering to see them there.
Nice of you to do that!
What a wonderful thing to do, and not only for the children!
That is such a darling idea. Wouldn’t it be fun if we could all do that here for each other too!
I wouldn’t stop grinning.
Feeling my age, which is generally rare for me. Spent some time this afternoon up at our church (about a 20 min walk away) with a small number of folks assembling sandwiches and bagging them with homemade cookies for donation. We were well spaced, wearing masks and gloves. But…it didn’t take long before my upper back started cramping from having to work at too low a table. I sat down, but had to give up after a few hours. Shaking my head…and wishing I could get a chair massage.
Stopped at drug store on the way home and got a few things. Including organic eggs, which we were running low on. May let me put off a run to Whole Foods for a few more days. It’s just having to get up so dang early to get there for the special early shopping that makes me gird my loins.
Didn’t spray on Allure until I got home. And a spritz of Kyse Pêche au Yuzu that arrived today. Very peachy…with a hint of something spicy, even if I don’t see that in the notes listed.
Enabler pin to Robin for lemming…. ordered some L’Occitane Green Tea products.
Boo hiss on the back cramping!
I also ordered the Green Tea products.
🙂
The birdsong in my backyard is so hopeful. Cardinals are such chatty birds.
Goldfinch are already quite bright.
A bright bird safe collar and misting hose keep my birds safe from our cat.
I am awash in fragrance with just 5 drops of Maai by Bogue. It is powerful. Let’s see if it holds up. A skanky kinda tuberose with the house signature bones and probably civet which I do like very much. A gem from my re- organization today.
I will work on ‘I’m Her Daddy’ by Bill Withers on the bongos soon. That is an amazing tune w/ a terrific funky beat. RIP Mr. Withers.
Bongos! What a great thing to be doing!
It is fun.
Love me some Bill Withers. “Who is He and What is He to You?” is a favorite.
You are so right. That is a great one.
Hi, folks! Commando today, but I’ll probably put some soothing incense fragrance on at bedtime. We’ve had decent weather for a bit, so I was able to do yard work on Sunday afternoon and for some hours today.
I feel a little bad that my life is going relatively well while so many other people are suffering. Even my birthday was far better than last year’s. That was a low, low bar, considering that last year I couldn’t keep food or drink down for a couple of days, got dehydrated, and ended up in the hospital with an IV, getting bags of saline solution, a greatly appreciated anti-emetic, and a drink of orange-flavored potassium stuff because my electrolytes were out of whack.
This year I was outside planting flowers during the day, and picked up a curbside dinner from Longhorn Steakhouse. I’ll count it as soaring over that low bar set in 2019.
I do sympathize with others who are having a rough time of it this year. I believe I posted a few days ago saying that I could tutor tweens or teens online in English, social studies and the soft sciences. I can tutor well up into college levels in English and history. Feel free to contact me if you know someone who could benefit. neyronrose at gmail dot com.
Take care!
I missed it, happy birthday neyronrose! Glad it turned out to be an improvement over last year ?
You didn’t miss it — there’s over an hour of it left! Thank you! I was waiting to see how the day went, but not having any problem drinking tea in the morning and eating my breakfast were huge improvements over last year right there. As I said above, *low* bar. 🙂
Oh it is today! Lovely, enjoy your last hour!
I am glad that you had a nice day this year, happy birthday! It is so touching to see all this concern and care and heartfelt emotion here for others during this crisis.
Enjoy your garden.
I hope that you find students that you can help.
Thank you! I’ve been enjoying my flowers and fragrant plants this year whenever it’s nice enough to walk around the yard. It’s been very nice to discover that many people living in the development have pretty spring flowers and flowering trees.
Hello! I didn’t end up putting on a perfume at bedtime, but did try a fragrance oil for a different function. I discovered that I’d gotten small cuts on my fingers from the yard work. First I cleaned the little cuts out with peroxide, and then put on antibiotic cream, which washed right off when I washed my hands again (of course). At bedtime, I put drops of lavender essential oil in the cuts. I remembered someone here saying that lavender essential oil could be used on skin irritations. I figured it couldn’t hurt…
I expected it to sting, but it didn’t. I suppose I was thinking of antiseptics that are mostly alcohol. I’ll try it again today.
Happy Birthday!
Thank you! 🙂
Finally put on some New Haarlem from Bond No 9 that I have in a decant and was like “why does this smell SO familiar?”
Hello Mon Guerlain! Lavender, vanilla, bergamot, patchouli, tonka bean, and woody notes in both.
Sprayed a tiny (TINY) bit of Mon Guerlain on my right arm afterwards for a compare-contrast.
The coffee scent in New Haarlem is quite fleeting, unfortunately, and it’s overall gentler in projection with less powdery-floral facets. They ARE quite similar though!
The combo of vanilla and lavender seems to scream on my skin, so I find them both a bit much – which is a shame as they’re notes that I do love.
Something fun to try for lovers of Mon Guerlain!
If any of you are in Canada holler: I am happy to pass on my New Haarlem decant once we’re past essential-only trips.
