It's Monday and President's Day plus Random Acts of Kindness Day. I am terribly late with the poll, sorry! What fragrance are you wearing?
We have just returned from vacation. After a long hot shower, I will be back with my scent of the day. I am thinking Aftelier Candide?
Reminder: on 2/21, wear a fragrance by Parfum d'Empire, Parfums DelRae, Penhaligon's, Pacifica or Parfumerie Generale, if you have one. (Yes, we already did a community project for Parfums de Nicolaï). Partial credit for any other small-ish brand that starts with the letter P.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2020, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I should have worn a DelRae or a PG but had forgotten about this weeks CP. My SOTD is Ninfeo Mio, which is my best friend when I’m feeling slightly out of sorts. Nothing major just some bug trying to get the better of me.
I love that one–I need to dig out my bottle. You smell fantastic.
I had not worn it in a long time and it’s a winner.
I am in the same boat, fighting off a bug. May we both feel better asap!
Hope both of you win the battle!
Ditto on that.
I hope the bug loses!
Btw i was in Antwerp last weekend and I tried the Akro line (at Necessities) you recommend a while ago.
Its very interesting! I wish this brand offered a sample set….
Dark and Smoke seemed the most wearable to me.
The other addictions will probably raise eyebrows if you wear them to work ? haha.
The Akro website offers a sample set. What did you make of the rose?
I had a hard time detecting the rose ?. I got mostly saffron and cumin. But did not try it on my skin…
The rose was quite prominent to my nose, I didn’t test on skin either. It reminded me a little of Une Rose Poivrée by TDC.
I liked the Smoke a lot as well, but I already own quite a few very smoky perfumes so in the end I decided that I “needed” Dark more.
…and thanks for pointing out the sample set! I may order one. My husband was also quite charmed by this brand.
I thought that I saw one on Luckyscent’s website as well – I think it jumped in & out of my cart a few times?. Once I use up a few decants I want to test this line. I love Oliver Cresp.
I hope you feel better soon!
Thank you, I already am!
Well you and cm8 earned enabler pins last year for this beauty. I heard so much about it and a few years back cm8 wore it for days on end convincing me that I was missing something special that I had to have my own. You smell great!!
It is my favourite fig and just a great all round fragrance. Glad you enjoy it too!
By pure accident I am participating in the CP. I am wearing Pacifica Lotus Garden.
I had to look that one up. I’ve never seen it in stores. Is it oldish or newish?
Oldish–my bottle (which smells fine) is a decade old.
P is a very prolific letter. I have to layer!
Today I am wearing Penhaligon’s Opus 1870 and Blenheim Bouquet.
Very prolific! We should probably have done 2 weeks of P.
Will we be skipping Q? I’m not sure I can even think of a perfume house that begins with the letter Q
I think we will skip Q!
We were almost twins today in BB. You smell great!
Sampling Venetian Belladonna from Parfums Quartana which is nice enough but not something I need a bottle of.
I have, with the purchase of a tester of Golden Wood from Barney’s, pretty much run out of room for new bottles. I might be able to fit in a couple of travel sprays but I think I have basically hit my limit at 150 bottles and zillions of samples
I’ve run out of room too – I’m taking it as a sign it’s time to stop.
I am in Shalimar today 🙂 🙂
This bottle will get a lot of love
Yes, that did clear space for my newest bottle…
? zillions! That’s either way too many, or just getting started. Depends on who you ask. ?
?? good one!
There’s a Q!
Tested ELDO’s 500 Years edp this AM. Meh. Reminds me of some Lutens. Unfinished. It gets a ton of love it seems on the internet, so I am definitely in the minority.
I was also underwhelmed.
A sample is on the way to me, we’ll see if it’s meh here too 🙂
Oh. DO let us know!
I’m in Eau des Merveilles, hoping it will cheer me up. Today’s my day off after a busy work weekend and I should be in a good mood but I’m not. Feeling quite cranky.? I think this state of eternal gray is finally getting the best of me. I suppose a steady diet of The Smiths and Radiohead isn’t helping the situation, lol. Must find something happy to listen to today.
Change that station Madtowngirl!
https://youtu.be/8Za0gWXJW1w
Lol???
Ha! Thanks lillyjo, I knew I could count on you!???Man, they just don’t make videos like they used to. Sigh
Also, didn’t get a chance to comment this weekend but congrats to your son for making the honor roll! You should be proud.?
Sorry madtowngirl, & hope the sun will come out!
Thanks Robin, I’m just whining, the sun IS supposed to be out later this week?so I’ll just power through.
I have a way to make you smile immediately madtowngirl!
If you are on Instagram, search for “Chunk the Groundhog”. The guy that has this page is a home gardener, and his garden was getting robbed every single day. He put a motion camera out there to see what was happening, and the rest is pure joy and magic! 🙂
Spring is coming!!!!!!
OMG its brilliant. I am laughing out loud right now. ???
Lol, thanks Jada, I needed that.?
Hilarious IG! Thank you, Jada!
That video is priceless!
Ooh, part of me is thrilled to see The Smiths mentioned. But I’ve been listening to Michael Franti and Spearhead for the last 2 days precisely to combat the grey skies blues.
You smell fabulous!
Thanks! True confession sistine: I listen to The Smiths everyday.? I have the Bluetooth on my car synced to my phone and The Smiths radio on Pandora is usually playing. I just never get sick of them. Apparently I’ve had an influence on my kids too, lol. My son texted me this weekend that he’s been listening to Meat is Murder a lot lately.
Love Radiohead but ya not good for the blues. I had Trent Reznor’s cover of Bowie’s Life on Mars on repeat…not sure if good for blues or not lol but it’s a good cover lol.
I had to go to Spotify to check that out. That is a great cover! It’s beautiful. Love Trent.? Did you see NIN when they were on Austin City Limits a few years ago? I think that’s my favorite ACL of all time, I’ve watched it several times. It’s excellent.
Coldplay is my step up moodwise from Radiohead, depends on the songs tho! I just got the right amount of daylight last week to feel less blah, spring is coming ?
You smell fantastic, I shall join you in Eau see Merveilles today. ?
Oh yay! We’ll be great smelling twins!?♀️ Looking forward to more sun later this week if the forecast holds true. My mood is profoundly affected by the sun.
Aww, I’m sorry you’re feeling cruddy. Maybe Elliott Smith might cheer you up ?
Lol, I actually love Elliot Smith. I discovered him while listening to my favorite- Smiths radio on Pandora. Another talented musician sadly gone too soon.
Shalimar
NYers, there is a Alexander McQueen fashion exhibit going on at the Historical Society. Today is the last day and I went yesterday. For those who are into fashion. The collection is being auctioned off after today. Worth a visit if you admire his work. I find it fierce & sexy. Just like when I wear Shalimar 😉
Fun, thanks for the psa!
Great scent of the day! You are smelling so good!
Thanks Gail, Shalimar is becoming my signature during these cooler months.
Are you a fan?
Oh yes, count me as a big fan! I have some vintage extrait and vintage edt (swoon!); plus some body creme (a more current version).
How is the body cream..
I have the body powder and love it!
We ran out of comments, but I find the body creme great! It’s pretty thick, nicely scented and is really good for layering! It can also be a stand-in fragrance for when you may want less Shalimar (if there is ever such a thing).
I bet the creme and powder would be great combo at bedtime after a bath or shower! I will have to look into the powder.
I love Alexander McQueen!
I dont know if I have the guts to wear those creations, most of them are pretty extravert, but it will never be a problem because i cannot afford it ?? Hahaha.
See below 🙂
This exhibit is different https://nypost.com/2020/02/14/alexander-mcqueens-iconic-looks-get-nostalgic-sendoff/
My friend who is a bit bold when right up to Ruti Danan and asked her about these pieces. She was off to the side with the folks from the museum, and as soon as we approached her she was so warm and welcoming she gave us her only little private tour of the pieces and talked about her time with McQueen. This chance encounters only happen in NYC 😉
Sorta your twin today in current Shalimar edt (I need to get smart on Shalimar Cologne – if fragrancenet is to be believed, there is a Cologne edc and a Cologne edt?). I don’t feel sexy, but I certainly do feel fierce (due to being tired and cross…).
I haven’t been able to read (or post) much lately, but as always I wish everyone well!
You smell great!
How do you like the current EdT?
Well, I was prepared to be all snobbish and dismissive of it because it isn’t vintage… but you know, after wearing it a couple of times I’ve decided that it may be just the thing for work wear. I’m considering a full bottle purchase. Would love to try the Cologne for comparison, but don’t think anyone carries it locally.
Yes, there are Shalimar Cologne, an eau de toilette created in 2015 by Thierry Wasser, and Shalimar eau de cologne, which you can often find in stores like CVS. There are good descriptions of both on Fragrantica. The eau de cologne was the first Shalimar I really liked, at the start of my perfume journey!
I can only see eight comments instead of the usual hundred or so I find in the early morning here – I guessing that’s connected with President’s Day!
It’s a dull wet day here, we need the rain, but I’m not looking forward to the walk to work. I’ll wear Jovoy’s Remember Me, it’s quite sweet and warming
It is mostly because I posted so late…we flew in late last night, got a bit of sleep, ate breakfast & drove a couple hours home. Could not stop to post because husband had to make a meeting.
Sorry about your dull wet day!
Overcast and fighting a bug. Attempting to kill it off with Hiram Green Moon Bloom.
That ought to kill it, but maybe take a dose of olive leaf on top 😉
It is a nuisance, not feeling well. Interesting choice, I can only do citrus when I’m feeling queasy.
In my case it’s sore throat & stuffy nose. Tuberose would definitely not be my choice for a stomach bug.
Oh, yuck. I hope it’s short lived. I was up c lo ise and personal next to a sniffler on a crowded subway yesterday. Hoping I don’t get whatever they got…
I hope it gets no worse and you recover quickly.
I wore Un jardin apres la mousson today!
I just discovered that the very good WW2 book I read last autumn is translated.
No affiliation, but it left me speechless (and I am not easily impressed), so I highly recommend it. It is so important to know these tales in these times when (ultra)right wing is roaring its super ugly head again.
The english title is The High Nest or The Sisters of Auschwitz, by Roxane van Iperen.
Dont know about other languages sorry!
And I saw the Van Eyck exhibition in Ghent last friday..it was beautiful! If you are interested in art from him and his contemporaries and you happen to be in/near Belgium this spring, you need to see it. It was quite crowded but still worth it! (You need to buy tickets in advance)
Thank you Jiji, I will see if I can get it at my library!
I’m going there in March. Can’t wait.
I am sure you will love it!
The only real downside is the audiotour system.
It demands you keep the audiodevice near a transmitter thats hanging on the wall. And then you hear a bleep.
Folks have to bleep for Every. Bloody. PaintingTheyHaveStoryfor.
So you hear bleep bleep bleep around you all the time, its just an aweful solution. ? And I know less intrusive audio tour systems exist.
(Cant tell you if the audio tour was any good, i am one of those people who prefer walking around an exhibition without one)
SotE: i craved something louder and bigger…so I switched to Safari by Ralp Lauren. ?
You smell great! I got a tester of Mousson in Parfumerie NYC’s January “blind tasting” and am contemplating a FB.
Thank you!
When I tried it at first i found the fruity note (melon?) a bit off putting. But i kept trying it. especially on spring and summer days I craved that ginger cardemom combo, and warmed up to it.
I was so lucky to find a bottle heavily discounted and I am very happy with it. ?
I love Un Jardin Apres La Mousson, it’s my favorite of the whole Jardin series (I also love Sur Le Nil and Sur La Lagune). I should pull it out today, as it is rainy here.
I’m wearing another thrift store find this morning, Believe by Britney Spears. It’s nice but I am sensing it won’t last long. Yesterday I filled out my online visa request for India. Leaving in just a month!
Oh yay, lucky you!
(And apologies if you’ve already posted it and I’ve forgotten, but where are you going?)
I’m going on tiger safaris in the national parks of Madhya Pradesh in central India. I love big cats (small ones, too).
My son did just that recently and LOVED it. Have a wonderful trip.
Oh nice, that sounds wonderful.
Oh my goodness. That sounds like such a wonderful trip!
Wow! That sounds amazing! ?
Wow, how wonderful! I love tigers. Just don’t wear any Calvin Klein Obsession for Men; apparently they love that smell and zoos use it to entertain tigers in captivity (!). Parks have used it to lure tigers they need to trap.
Wow! Have a great trip. That sounds incredible.
How awesome! Enjoy your trip!
Welcome back from vacation, Robin, I am home as well and already missing my carefree vacation. Plus I spent last night at the emergency room (an eye thing that seems to be okay, but omg, the emergency room ANY time, but especially Sunday night before a holiday? just kill me now).
I can finally do justice to an alphabet house poll – I still have decants/samples of early Parfumerie Generales (now called Pierre Guillaume) that I love (and a bottle of Pierre’s Myrrhiad) as well as a bottle of Parfums Delrae Panache, a bit of Bois de Paradis and a decant of Providence Perfume’s Tabac Citron. Now my dilemma is which to wear when…today I’m going with PG Musc Maori.
Oh dear, I was less than happy to come home at all, then even less happy to come home to a messy house, but you beat me with the emergency room! Very glad your eye is ok.
Love Musc Maori, you smell great.
Ha – I have a messy house, too. Working on it today. Back to work tomorrow. I do love Musc Maori but forget to wear it. Glad we are doing a P week.
Springpansy, I saw that you were in Maui which is where I am too. It is supposed to be very windy today. Hope the eye thing clears up quickly and painlessly.
Thank you! I hope you have a wonderful time, we did. It was fairly windy the whole time we were there, but still great. Wish we could have met up!
Me too! We have been here for 2 weeks and could have arranged that!
I hope your eye is better!
Thanks.
Hope you had a great vacation!
It was so wonderful. Thanks.
The ER is never fun, hope your eye is on the mend!
Thanks!
Ugh, sorry to hear that you were at the ER. That’s never pleasant. I hope your eye is on the mend.
Thanks. I may have convinced myself to never go to the ER again unless it’s life and death.
Today I am wearing Sisley Soir de Lune and drinking a cup of green tea.
Barqs, I am just now having a nice cup of gunpowder green tea with mint 🙂
delicious !
No sprayed fragrance yet. Still enjoying a bit of the cherry blossom shower gel I used and thankful to have my shower/tub back. Also enjoying a tobacco scented candle. I actually don’t get that much tobacco from it…more tea and leather.
Had a nice dinner with a friend last night. But I did laugh that the somewhat Victorian decor (complete with teddy bears perched on swings and hearts hanging from the ceilings) was combined with ‘80s rock like Bon Jovi and Guns N Roses…. I had a chicken/kale ravioli made from rice flour that was delicious. If they hadn’t indicated gluten free, I would never have known. Perfect chewiness in a vodka sauce.
Hope all those getting a day off have a relaxing or adventurous day..whichever provides the most pleasure.
Sounds wonderfully campy! Where was it?
Lillie’s on 17th just half block west of USQ. Across from a really cool bead store I’d never noticed.
Yes, Beads of Paradise! They have some really beautiful stuff. Expensive.
Gluten free pastas are getting really good! They still aren’t as good as wheat pasta when you eat them cold the next day, though.
what fun!
That restaurant sounds like a blast!
I’m thinking of going for a rose week, so I’m wearing Perles de Lalique. I am almost to the end of my mini, so I need to decide if it is worth a full bottle. I wear it relatively rarely.
How long did it take you to drain the mini?
At least three years, I think the mini was .17 oz. This combination of patchouli and rose is a favorite, but it is available in many other iterations. I wore Voleur de Roses on Saturday, very much in the same vein as Perles de Lalique. However, I have a large bottle of Voleur de Roses, I like it more, and it lasts longer on my skin.
Wow, that is a long time for a mini! I would vote no on the bottle then.
I was looking at some of my large(15ml) recants and pulled out Givenchy III, the original version. The debate is still raging but different. I tried Hedonist Rose a while back and dabbed the last little bit on. It’s okay and still haven’t tried Hedonist Cassis. It’s still either the Hedonist travel set or Coco Mademoiselle travel set.
Fwiw I’ve met Viktoria Minya personally and she is just the loveliest.
She runs ateliers from her apartment in Paris to educate people about perfume blending, and that’s how I wound up with my first customized perfume last year.
So go with your nose for sure, but if you need something to tip you one way or the other, her operation is definitely small and personal.
Oh, Givenchy III! I have to track some down and hope its as wonderful as I remember; it’s been on my list for awhile!
Good afternoon Y’all….and welcome back to reality Robin! 🙂 Hope you had a wonderful time! CONGRATULATIONS on 15 years of NST!
I’m at work in Michael Kors Sexy Amber. HA HA HA It was coming on a bit strong when I first got here, but several hours in and it’s exactly what I was craving now…..soft and warm and cozy.
Not sure it’s a work fragrance, but I just felt like it today! 🙂
Reality leaves much to be desired, Jada! We had a ball, I could easily have stayed another month before I missed home. But thank you 🙂
Michael Kors needs to do the “Stealth Sexy Amber” flanker!
Unwittingly on theme today in Papillon Salome. Really I’m wearing it because I’m alone in the house!
Good enough reason 🙂
Welcome back Robin! Your vacation sounded lovely, and I took vicarious pleasure in it.
I’m working today by choice so I could use the day off next week. Which is fine, because today is a slow one. I’m dragging a bit, too. We played a fun carnival show last night at a great venue in Harlem. The walls and ceiling are plastered with album covers.
I’m wearing Carnal Flower since I wore it last night and really enjoyed it.
I am glad! And now I need someone else to go someplace warm so I can take vicarious pleasure…but a fun carnival show in Harlem also sounds worth enjoying. Plus, you smell like a tropical vacation.
Well, it was pretty hot in there so it was somewhere warm for a few hours, lol. It was really fun.
Sadly, it will not be me going somewhere warm next.
I’m headed to St Kitts on Friday if you need a vicarious Caribbean vacation
Thank you! Very generous of you ? Sounds lovely, though.
Oh yay! St Kitts looks beautiful.
A lot of Covet by (SJ) P, so maybe a quarter point for the P….. I like to wear this in spring weather, when it’s still a bit cold. So a perfect choice today.
Now making some lentil veggie soup from the Budget Bytes blog…
Yum, you smell great!
When I like at the samples and decanter I brought with me I wonder where my head was – the only one that makes any sense is Juste Un Reve, so I have been wearing that most days.
Look at, not like at
Beautiful scent
I might be able to do justice to the CP this week. Starting the week off with Pacifica Sandalwood, which seems at this point to be more about citrus than sandalwood. It’s bright and cheery, though, which I am appreciating this morning.
It’s nice but not sandalwood on me.
Agreed – I was hoping for a bit more sandalwood. But, for 9 bucks at Marshall’s, I can’t complain too much. It made for a sunny couple of hours.
Nice Marshall’s find! ?
I’m in tiny spritzes of Jardin Sur le Nile because I was looking for something that smells like (or at least would blend well with) the body lotion I used today. It (the body lotion) is an old sample size of Lancome Hydra Fraichelle and I don’t know what notes I’m smelling in it, but they’re very fresh and green and light, whatever they are.
Have not tried that Lancome, but Sur Le Nil body lotion is also wonderful!
You smell great. I love that one.
I’m currently smelling of “all things chypre” since I made decants for my sister this morning to send off. I tried to control myself (so I don’t overwhelm her); I am sending Madam Jolie, Perles de Lalique, Knowing, Azuree, Cabochard and Une Rose Chypree. Also in the non-chypre category, going to her is a decant of La Pausa and Bois de Violette.
Happy Monday everyone!
“All things chypre” swoon ?
The room that I was decanting in smelled fantastic for a few hours!
what a list!~
I tried to pick the ones that should match the certain notes she likes. She was always a chypre fan (from back when we were kids).
Your sister is one lucky duck!
She is!! ?
I think she will enjoy them. It’s funny that we like many of the same notes. But she really disliked carrot seed oil; I thought she would have loved it (like me!). Earlier in the week we had the discussion of cilantro – yes or no? I’m in the ‘yes’ group, she’s definitely in the ‘no’ group. Maybe that was the difference?
I need a sister like you haha! You smell amazing (I’m guessing because I haven’t even sniffed those ?).
Lots of oakmoss in them! When you spray alot of the same types of fragrances in the same day and small space, you start to really recognize certain notes! I used Fragrantica as a guide; it was really helpful.
It sure would be fun to have an NST get-together!
I’m wearing Las Flores by Provision Scents. It’s just hitting all the right buttons on this relaxed day off. Pre yoga? Great! Post yoga? Even better? Drinking a witbier? Perfect pairing!
Don’t you love it when a perfume hits all the right buttons?
Mmm witbier.
Missed the CP in Amaranthe Parfums Heracléa, but living for these bright citrus/eucalyptus vibes. Added a spritz of Gypsy Water hair perfume from Byredo to overdose the bergamot for a bit and am not a bit sad.
Having dragonwell tea after I discovered a tin of it in our absurdly-overstocked green tea hoard over the weekend.
Not a bit sad is a good perfume outcome 🙂
After a whole day at home catching up with cleaning, laundry, cooking, etc, I just finished taking a shower and sprayed on the last 3mls of Yardley Iris. Full bottle thunked! So fleeting and I didn’t never liked it much. Now, time for some Irish coffee and relax in front of the tv. Happy Monday everyone!
Oh gosh! I meant “never liked it” not “never didn’t liked it” ?
Lol, I knew what you meant. You got a lot done today!
?I understood, but it made me laugh anyway.
Hurray for a full bottle thunk!
It’s a pretty light Iris, isn’t it. Glad you thunked a bottle!
Do you know what it was you didn’t care for?
Mmmm Irish coffee is delish. Hope you enjoyed.
SSS Equestrian from a travel spray that a kind NSTer sent me because I thunked my own travel spray. Now that SSS is once again open, I’ll be getting a full bottle when I can.
Hope every one else is having a better Monday that I am. ?
Uh oh, that doesn’t sound good.
Oh boy.
Sorry Deva! Hope Tuesday will be an improvement.
Awww hope your Monday ended on a good note at least.
PG Indochine. I’m not sure I’ve tried this before. Where have I been?
Wow.
Yeah it’s a good one, yummy honey
This is my favorite of the line. It’s a beautiful benzoin scent. I was able to smell real benzoin chips at Mandy Aftel’s perfume museum so now I know that even straight up natural benzoin is gorgeous.
It may be FB worthy for me. I don’t have much to test with, so I’m not quite sure.
I was able to visit the perfume museum too! I was there just over a year ago. So much to smell, I was a little overwhelmed and excited. The deconstructed rose exhibit was truly enlightening. I remember the benzoin! It immediately reminded me of Tauer When We Cuddle.
Yes, that deconstructed rose exhibit was amazing!
That’s a really nice one
I am kinda bluesy myself this week, the sunshine and warmer weather has helped but blues can be stubborn. Lol. My cat is happy, she found a barette and is playin with it..if that was all I needed was a barrette, lol. Probably will sample Chinatown
Sorry you’re feeling bluesy, Omega. Right? Cats are so easily amused.
Agree that the blues can be stubborn. Cats do help a little bit, though.
Seriously, if only. Maybe I will try playing with a barrette for awhile.
Lol
Hope those blues leave you soon. Chinatown is great!
Hello! Haven’t been feeling great all week, so I slept in extra long. I’m wearing Galop d’Hermes and trying to stay light as possible.
Hope you feel better soon.
Feel better soon Coumarin.
Speedy recovery!
Good health wishes to you!
Smelling wonderful today.
Random acts of kindness day, huh? Well my employer doesn’t give today as a holiday, so that’s not so kind, but the commute traffic was really light, so I’ll take that.
So the parking garage at work (thousands of spots) now has gates which you open with an app on your phone. Except it doesn’t exactly work well, so they have hired two people to stand out there in the chill to take your phone from you and walk it over to the sensor so that the gate opens. Yeah this is progress. I can’t imagine what the line is like at 8:45 am. It makes me even happier that I work from home most days.
SOTD is Yosh Koenig. Foresty leather. The hand wants what it wants.
I’m a germaphobe, so that just skeeves me out. Seriously? Two people handling that many cellphones sounds like a sure fire way to spread the flu.
I’m glad you work at home most days, too!
SotD = Eau des Merveilles
because madtowngirl wore it, and because I miss EdM. I should wear it every day until I can’t. ☺️
Why not? Maybe I will wear it tomorrow.
Under the weather today. ? Some nausea, and Pepto-Bismol for breakfast. I finally felt able to have some soup a little earlier on in the afternoon. Not exactly a stellar Monday.
SOTD = TF Noir de Noir, from the sample stash. I always think of KellyC whenever I see or hear this one being mentioned. It even comes in a cute little travel spray now. I should give the current stuff a sniff and see how it compares to my sample. At least I smell good today…
Oh, duh, welcome back Robin! Sorry, I forgot to mention that.
If you need to have Pepto after breakfast, you are excused from any other niceties for the rest of the day so far as I am concerned! Glad you were able to eat some soup later, at least.
There sure are a lot of people under the weather today.
Even worse when Pepto IS breakfast. ?
I hope you feel better soon, Jalapeno!
Thanks lillyjo! I am feeling more human now, and figure I will probably be back to my usual tomorrow. Something I ate is not agreeing with me, I suspect.
Sorry to hear you’re not feeling well. Take good care of yourself.
Thanks Aurora! I’ve had a lot of green tea today. ?
Oh my gosh you smell sooooo good! One of my all time favs. I should buy a BUB.
Hope you’re feeling better. I did a good hit of yard work today and have a horrible neck ache. Powering through but to mimic your comments- not a stellar Monday.
I’m wearing Hiram Green Arbole Arbole, and even though I didn’t like it initially I’ve become obsessed by it after someone gave me a bottle. I’m in love with Slowdive as well, now. After years of feeling jaded about modern perfumes and buying mostly vintage, it’s really nice to feel new love again.
🙂
SOTD = Puredistance M
It’s a P perfume so kinda sorta participating ??♀️
Spicy floral leather with citrus on top and a patchy vetiver drydown. Nice!
https://www.instagram.com/p/B8rxWM9BjQV/?igshid=blzguotaapt
I tried monkfruit sweetener for the very first time today and Inwas quite surprised that it tastes just like sugar! It’s a newish sweetener for those who are avoiding sugar. I’m not but since I got a pack from a friend for Christmas, I thought I should try it on coffee. I also got a jar of cardamom powder from Whole Foods. Whoa! I think I went overboard as it was too spicy floral soapy. Next time, a pinch will do!
I also found monkfruit to be the best tasting not-sugar, though I’ve gotten used to not sweetening anything so don’t really use it much.
Just about the only thing I sweeten with sugar is coffee. Sometimes, I add honey to waffles or pancakes. I don’t drink diet anything and the last low sugar thing I bought – oatmeal – turned out to have either stevia or sucralose or something like that and yuck. I left the remaining 2 cups for someone else to enjoy.
I also found out thru experience that ground cardamom packs a punch. I only use a little bit in the spice blend for my chili. The bottle I have is still really fragrant, and I’ve had it for a few years now.
Do you refrigerate it?
Nope. It lives inside one of my spice cabinets, which are away from the stove/oven.
Oh good. My pretty empty for now spice cabinet is above the sink and away from the oven / stove!
I also think monkfruit is a totally acceptable sugar substitute (most are disgusting IMO).
I’m kind of late reading posts today. Welcome home, Robin! It seems as if a lot of folks here are under the weather right now. I’m so sorry to hear that and wish everyone well. I did some cleaning today and was rewarded by finding two Micallef samples in a small dish in my laundry room. Go figure. After cleaning, I had a late afternoon shower and sprayed on some Akowa and went out for a nice walk. Ew, I thought, what is this? Pineapple? Lotus? Something sweet, strange, and fruity. Not good. Then during my entire walk I had a pleasant sense of floral beauty and well-being. This is a very strange animal. I can’t tell if I love it or hate it. To be continued….
Thank you!
Laughing that you found samples in your laundry room! That sounds like something I would do.
Love the cabbage picture. It’s such a gorgeous vegetable. I pulled out a showstopper for my day off work, Parfums Delrae Bois de Paradis. I’m so glad I bought a bottle right before they announced the company was calling it quits.
I spent the first half of the day finishing The Goldfinch. I have such a hard time when a really good book is over. I cried multiple times in the last 75 pages. I don’t think I’ll watch the movie because I don’t want it to spoil how much I love the book. I didn’t think it could top how I feel about The Secret History, but it’s definitely given it a run for its money.
Spending the afternoon watching Marriage Story until my boyfriend’s home from work.
Another friend mentioned that she loved Goldfinch..
On the list it goes..
Oh my gosh I loved that book so much. One of my favorites. I haven’t seen the movie yet either- am conflicted about watching it.
How did you like Marriage Story?
So glad to see another Goldfinch lover!
As far as Marriage Story, I liked it quite a bit but didn’t love it. I’d say it’s worth a watch if you like relationship dramas. It did make me both cringe and cry.
Still holding out hope that PdR will resurrect somehow! That and Antonia’s Flowers make me really sad, esp. when so many lesser brands appear to thrive.
I wish PD would resurrect too. I’d love a bottle of Wit so much.
In Floris Malmaison, it’s a favorite carnation along with Bellodgia.
Sounds great!
It is a great old-school carnation.
I knew someone else owned it besides me!
🙂 I’m in the UK where it is still often on offer on eBay at reasonable prices.
And another one I wish I’d bought when it was still good!
Sorry it didn’t make it to your collection, Robin. But if you have Bellodgia you’re fine, they are both old-school carnations.
Pretty sure I have plenty to participate in the project this week. Today, however, I’m in Histoires de Parfums Ambre 114. First time trying it and honestly loved it. I may wear it again tomorrow. Really good stuff.
One of my best friend is flying with her fiancé on Wednesday night to visit. We have beach plans, going to a Lakers game, some shopping and eating. Will be a great time! We are on a 4/10 schedule so I have every Friday off anyway, but will take Thursday too. Can’t wait!
Hope it’s a great visit KellyC!
Sounds like a great time Kelly! Have fun!
I wore Coco edp today. It’s always perfect.
It is! I frequently spray this on me when I go by a perfume counter. May need a small sample bottle.
