Hump Day and World Nutella Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Comptoir Sud Pacifique Vanille Banane. Over a period of a few months, Jirish, Pyramus and Monkeytoe all mentioned in the comments that it was a fun fragrance, and since I badly needed some fun at the time, I bought it unsniffed. Yep, it's fun.
Reminder: on Saturday, 2/8, Now Smell This turns 15! For our birthday, we're moving the Friday Project to Saturday, and meshing it with the Lazy Weekend Poll. Wear a fragrance that you found out about from Now Smell This, or received in a freebiemeet, swapmeet or splitmeet, or just wear a favorite fragrance that you've talked about on Now Smell This. Plus, if you can, share the single best tip or piece of advice you ever received from another reader. (There will be no post on Friday, by the way, because I'm traveling again...if you want to chat, use the Thursday poll!)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2020, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Scented journey today is filled with generosity of others…
A friend gave me a set of soaps from Soap & Paper Factory for Christmas. This morning I looked through them and opened the green tea one. Love a new soap in the shower! This one is subtle but really lovely – I actually smelled more of the tea in the air as I was drying off rather than in the shower itself. Luxurious bubbles too.
Then I used the rose body lotion my husband’s goddaughter gave us, also for Christmas. A really pretty rose from a beautiful young woman. What a joy to watch her grow into adulthood.
And finally, sprayed on OJ Ta’if. As I said before, I heard about this house in NST years ago. Ta’if is from a splitmeet a few years back.
A very scented morning!
wow! a scented morning indeed…
It’s a beauty! Enjoy!
That sounds like the best kind of scented morning!
Bringing some summer vibe to my day today with Parfum d’ Empire Corsica Furiosa. After such a great and tempting review by Robin and all her love and praise about it, I blind bought a bottle and it is now one of my favorite summer perfumes. Sunny, bright, happy, refreshing scent . Wonderful!
That one is a winner–you smell great.
Thank you! ?
That was a successful NST blind-buy for me too!
I am glad it also worked for you. It is such great and cheerful scent!
Me too!
You smell wonderful!
Yup, I ordered a sample of that scent because of NST comments ?
Thank you, Jiji! We are all a bunch of enablers! ?
I’m in 24, Faubourg today, and recovering from a very nasty head cold. It’s mostly gone now, thank goodness.
sorry about the cold! glad you’re better 😀 and you! smell! beautiful!
You smell wonderful! I need to find my bottle and give it some love again.
Head colds are miserable. Glad to hear that yours is well on its way out! ?
A light dusting of Shalimar body powder.
I didn’t get a chance to answer the question from yesterday, but yes my Greek coffee is turning out much better than last week. And Robin, I am virtually sending you the Parsi food I made yesterday…
Why thank you, because I am virtually and really hungry.
I am wearing Chanel 1957 and drinking a cup of Hazelnut Cookie tea.
That tea sounds delicious AND you smell good!?
Having mentioned Niki de Saint Phalle yesterday, I decided to wear it. This is another NST find, with a full bottle bought unsniffed. I have worn it quite a bit this warm winter. I’m almost ready for another, bigger bottle.
Hopefully, the cool one with the snakes on top?
I dug out my bottle of MAC Naked Honey. It is all linden and honey, but it is already fading fast.
I hope they’re going to bring that one back.
Looking forward to Saturday!
I’m from Toronto, Canada… we’re having a mild winter, nevertheless, we’re months into the cold, dry season… and I’m craving warmth.
I’ve tried a few scents looking to hit the right balance… Comptoir Sud Pacifique Banane sounds like an option actually!
In the meantime, I’ve been veering to musky, woody scents… Samsara didn’t quite do the trick, neither did Jo Malone’s Velvet Rose and Oud… this morning, I broke out my precious vintage bottle of Fendi and I’m in love again… to the point where I’m totally distracted at work and just breathing in this beautiful scent! I still have almost a full bottle, but did a quick sweep online to see if I could buy an extra standby so I can enjoy this scent more often – goodness, the prices have sky-rocketed! How can I petition Fendi to start making this again??? OR … does anyone have recos for viable options?
TIA!
Welcome!
Welcome and greetings to a fellow Canadian! (Montréal)
No advice on the Fendi but you do smell great!
welcome! I love all things Canadian..their candy, their ice wine, their maple syrup, Mr L and Trudeau (for looks only) and especially perfumistas
And…nainaimo bars!!!!!
Welcome! ONE OF US (also in Mtl)
Welcome and greetings from the low lands in the Old World (Netherlands).
I visited Canada once (Vancouver, Jasper and Banff nat. parks) and that made quite an impression Id really love to return one day.
(Sorry, no advice on the Fendi)
Welcome! I haven’t been to Canada, but one of my old work colleagues moved there to become the Chief Archivist of Ontario, so I can claim a connection 🙂
Welcome. I used to love Fendi as well. Probably still would if I could find any :). Best of luck!
Hello and welcome! I wish I could help with your Fendi question, but I never came across the original fragrance.
I find that sometimes I just need to schedule fun into my calendar. Fun looks different for everyone but my life leans more intense than fun with lots of relationships and other responsibilities that I find it’s helpful to plan for fun activities, even really small ones, weeks/months out. And then of course there’s perfume!
SOTD: Kelly Caleche
I tried the new JM scent, Vetiver & Golden Vanilla, and quite liked it! It smelled more tonka to me than vanilla, but not too sweet and yet still there. I tried it on skin and it had good longevity as well.
Yay for planning fun. And as I get older, I realize how important the little things are as well. A walk in a park and a friendly hello from a golden retriever. A cup of coffee at my favorite cafe. Cherry trees in bloom. A good laugh with work colleagues. 30 minutes on my yoga mat with Adrienne.
I didn’t actually put it into words, but I think I used to feel like the world was somehow responsible for me enjoying my life. It turns out there is no one but me to ensure that life contains things that matter to me and fun is important. And fragrance is a part of that for me!
Very wise words.
Totally agree.?
Hope my comment didn’t sound like a lecture! I was agreeing with Floragal and trying to add my thoughts, but not sure it sounded that way.
Excellent thoughts. [And could you teach that to my 80 yr old mother???]
Hey I think I noticed the other day that you were interested in Sydney Rock Pool. Let me know if you want some (I will never get thru 100mls of it!)
Oh wow, thanks. I’ll email you!
Love this! Thank you 🙂
♥
Great thoughts. Enjoying your life involves effort and planning – all those fun things don’t happen by themselves!
YES for planning fun! Sometimes it needs a little help to happen, for sure.
Quite the struggle to get out of bed today. I stayed up late bingeing and finishing watching The Bonfire of Destiny (Le Bazar de la Charité) on Netflix. Anyone watch it? Kind of brutal painful to watch, but I couldn’t stop, lol! Not great pre-bedtime viewing.
Anyway, Chanel Paris-Riviera today and lots of coffee.
ooooh, you smell beautiful. I’m grateful hajusuuri hosted a split of Paris-Riviera so I could smell it.
Thanks for the nextflix recommendation!
Thank you tiffanie ☺️
Yes, I got to smell it thanks to haju, too! And then swiftly bought a larger decant from the Bay.
That show is not for the faint of heart. The 1st episode is really brutal to watch! But I think it’s based on true events.
I just watched the preview..looks really well done!
I thought it was. And it’s visually quite beautiful. It reminded me of a cross between Les Miserables and The Favorite.
I do this about once a quarter but with books. I’ll stay up until 4 am or so and then mess up the rest of the week. And I am not fun to be around lacking sleep. I’ll need to check out that show. The word “brutal” is pretty strong so it’s likely I’ll take a pass but, will check it out.
Yeah, it’s a source of regret the next day, for sure! Funny, I won’t commit to starting a 2 hour movie and will opt for a series so I don’t stay up so late, and then I’ll watch 3 hours’ worth, lol. I never learn.
I stayed late last night watching Harriet.
That’s in my list!
SotD = CdG Kyoto
NSTers helped me learn how much I love woody scents. Also learned that incense is a wonderful perfume note, and that CdG has produced some unforgettable scents.
Wish I had remembered there’s a hint of immortelle in Kyoto, I would have worn it for that CP a little while back.
Breakfast bowl for today: two tablespoons oats, one tablespoon chia seeds, unsweetened almond milk, and cinnamon cooked together, then added frozen blueberries, a bit of pink salt and topped it off with two eggs scrambled in olive oil, turmeric, and a bit of garlic.
I woke up hungry. Now I’m feeling gooooood! and wishing everyone here at NST a wonderful Wednesday. 😀
Joining you in incense this morning, Arte Profumi Samharam. And I had oatmeal for supper last night. 🙂
go, team incense! I looked it up, Samharam sounds gorgeous.
I sometimes eat oatmeal for supper too. 😀
That breakfast sounds good!
thanks, E! It was delish 😀
Love my oats with chia seeds, etc, but I do love them more separate from my eggs. 😉
😀 aren’t chia seeds fun? and ha! the rest of my family thinks I’m nuts for piling everything in one bowl, but I have fewer dirty dishes that way
It’s all going the same place anyway!
Sounds like a great breakfast!? I have two scrambled eggs every morning too.
thanks, mtg! I recently started eating two eggs most mornings. I’m trying to up my protein intake, and it’s an easy way to go. 😀
Wow, that’s a very creative breakfast! I like to make a breakfast burrito with a whole wheat tortilla, a scrambled egg, and a spoonful of salsa. Sometimes I heat up one slice of microwave bacon (pre-cooked) and crumble that in too. Yummy!
gosh, sounds delicious! I must do that, I love salsa! sometimes I put ground cumin in my scrambled eggs. I buy pre-cooked bacon from Trader Joe’s, it’s such a treat 😀
Impressed by your careful attention to breakfast preparation! I’m useless in the morning- I cut off a hunk of fresh mozzarella and then followed it with a spoonful of peanut butter.
That still sounds a lot better than, say, cold Pop Tarts.
I do miss the days when I could get away with a cold chocolate fudge pop tart for breakfast 🙂
a cold Pop Tart is dessert 😀
hee hee, right? If I eat that much sugar first thing in the morning I’m in a daze within an hour 😉
Taste-wise (though I like both items I consumed), the Pop Tart wins. And the Pop Tart with peanut butter! Yum.
I never thought of putting peanut butter on a Pop Tart before. It could be really good, especially with the raspberry ones.
I will confess I have put almond butter on a blueberry poptart. It was divine. 😉
funny thing, just this morning I looked at all the stuff I had out on the kitchen counter thought it is a complicated. But I Iove making breakfast, even though it takes about 20 things from the kitchen cupboards to get the job done, LOL 😀
Today I’m wearing Vie Privee from a decant perfumelover67 made me when I commented that I would like to try it. People on this site are so generous, I sometimes feel like I accidentally fished for a freebie when I just meant to say it sounded good! Not that I’m complaining. But you really all blow me away.
I am glad you are enjoying Vie Privee! As long as I have enough perfume in a bottle to share and someone has a desire to try it, I always love to share it. And well, you guys are helping me at the same time to reduce the crazy amount of perfumes I own! ?
Yes, PL67 is so generous and so many others here as well!!
A bit cold today, wearing Tom Ford’s Amber Absolute
Awesome !
SOTD Rose de Petra, to overcome the 21 F temp going out my door this morning on the way to job, which is hopefully soon to be old job!
Drink of the day – high octane Starbucks Cafe Verona with half and half. Zoom zoom…
Happy Wednesday, everyone!
In the running for a new job? Best of luck to you!
You smell fabulous! Good luck with the job plans.
I sent my resume to this job mainly to appease my husband, who hates that I have to be on-call one week a month. I was surprised when they called me in for an interview. I was much more surprised when they called me 2 hours after the first interview to set up the second one. 🙂 Serendipity at work – I definitely bonded with the two people doing the first interview. It was like everything I said, they were nodding and smiling, and the questions they asked me, I was like, “Oh, good question! Let me tell you about the time…” Plus it was colder than the dickens and so I just wore a turtleneck under a tweedy jacket, and thought, “that will have to be a good enough interview outfit.” One of them was wearing a turtleneck, and the other had on a tweedy sweater. It was like we we all dressed out of the same closet. My peeps! 🙂
Sounds like this one might be the one that Fate has in mind for you!
Wow, serendipity indeed!
Brr, down in the 30’s here this morning in San Diego, that’s cold for us in our flimsy little beach bungalows. Wearing Arte Profumi Samharam and trying to psyche myself up to go out in the cold to yoga.
I’m disappointed it’s so cold in San Diego – and ocean-cold is serious cold! Must try Arte Profumi Samharam: a few of you have mentioned it!
It’s 21f (-6C) in Toronto today. Brr… shearling coat, suede boots and black tea for me.
It was 5C when I went out to my car at 6:45. Brr. But warmer than Montréal. I’m a black tea fan too, mostly ceylon and assam.
Samharam is a lovely incense. I’ve tried a few from Arte Profumi and I liked all of them.
Oh my! And betcha there are tourists who did not bring coats…
It’s quite chilly in Los Angeles too.
Oh this fractured foot makes everything challenging.
That picture reminds me of this past summer when we went to Zanzibar. There is a local coffee place Stonetown Cafe.
Every morning we walked there for crepes with bananas and coffee for me, masala chai for my sister. 30 pounds later, there are no crepes with bananas on the menu for me.
Post very slow very careful shower a bit of something comforting. Maybe Satori.
I hope you’ll improve steadily as your foot heals!
Ditto. Fun memories of Zanzibar to think back on. I’d love to go there someday. Even the name is exotic.
Isn’t there a perfume with that name too?
Apparently there are several with that name (per Fragrantica). Who knew?
Hope you have a speedy recovery! You will smell great in Satori.
I hope your foot gets better soon.
I hope your foot recovers quickly, and i hope you are not in too much pain
You will smell gorgeous in Satori!
Oh, sorry to hear it’s a fracture! Take good care and hope you heal quickly. Satori is a beautiful, calming scent.
Thank you for all the good wishes!
I am grumpy and trying to keep perspective this is temporary, fixable and I have insurance.
I may have to have foot surgery next week. But, that means my beloved sissy will come and stay and take care of me.
Woke up with vintage BaV but commando right now. I have a very important appointment and too nervous to be picking out and wearing perfume right now. After the appointment, it will either be Chanel no 5 or Miss Dior original.
Good luck with your appointment!
Adding my good luck vibes for your appointment. Hope all is well and you will spray away later.
Good luck!
Hope all goes well!?
Good luck!
I hope that your appointment went well!
I’m wearing VC&A Bois d’Iris, which is an NST story from beginning to end. I had a decant of TDC Bois d’Iris, but it was just a bit too peppery for me and other irises often felt too “cold” to me. So I read Robin’s review of the VC&A BDI with interest, then noted others who mentioned it over time. I finally tried the VC&A version myself and fell in love. Last year, I bought a bottle for a splitmeet and we’ve lived happily ever after, more or less.
you sent me a tiny sample of that when I participated in your other split – thanks for the reminder to properly try that, which I haven’t really done yet.
😀 Yes, try it!
I got a decant from that split and love it too! You smell great!
Iris is a challenging note for me. I really love Iris Noble EDT but that’s about it for iris. Apparently it’s the flower of the iris in this vs. the other parts and so it’s more floral vs. rooty.
Cuir de Lancome, from the splitmeet a while back. I was about to type and completely blanked on the name and my poor brain kept fishing around for “cuir something”. Had to look the name up. I hope I get a bit sharper as the day progresses.
Oh wow. I feel your pain. Crazy the dumb things I know are tucked in my memory palace somewhere, but dang if I can find them when I need them. Names! Gah!
Une Jardin Après La Mousson again today after wearing a personalized perfume yesterday (thank you forever Viktoria Minya!!)
However Robin I *did* get inspired by your perfume to go to a donut shop and have a Biscoff Banana flavored donut. CP points kind of?
I love Après la mousson, you smell great!
Oh my, that donut sounds good enough to get cp points no matter what reason you had for ordering it 🙂
That looks very tasty, Robin! Of course there is a World Nutella Day.
I’m in Rose Infernale from a decant some kind NSTer sent me years ago. I’ve been craving a lot of rose lately; it’s a comfort note to me.
My grad school a cappella group turns 30 this year! We are having a massive reunion/anniversary concert this weekend. About 150 members are coming in from around the world to participate. (I, luckily, only need to drive ~20 min westward.) I’ve been practicing a lot of music I haven’t looked at in a decade, and I cannot WAIT to see friends I haven’t seen in a couple years, and all the friendly acquaintances I haven’t seen since graduating. This is such a big deal that I’ll be taking a day off from work for it! The concert will be a self-indulgent, multi-hour business that will doubtless bring more joy to us than to our audience (though tickets for the show are surprisingly pricey and have pretty much sold out!), and I cannot wait to get on stage and sing with a bunch of people with fantastic voices.
That sounds wonderful. Have a GREAT time!!
Enjoy every moment. And you’re wise to take the day off. In the past I would rush to airports after work and plan vacations to land 3 hours before starting work. I now think about all those wasted days and added stress. I didn’t add hours to my life – just took away lots of the enjoyment of life. On a different note, I have a terrible voice, but would have loved to be able to sing. And play the trumpet!!
And this isn’t a capella, but the Rigoletto quartet, featuring Pavarotti and Joan Sutherland. But it is a seminal moment in opera. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6S_kx0gDzc
Sounds wonderful & exciting!
Sounds fun! Enjoy yourself!
Sounds great. Have fun!
Amazing! How fun! Enjoy!
Sounds really amazing! I hope you have a magical time ?
Very wise of you to not rush your return to work from that reunion/concert. Safe travels and enjoy! ?
That sounds amazing. Must be so joyful and energising to sing with so many other people for a crowd.
Meanwhile Ill restrict myself to singing in the shower, its for the best. ?
Koyel, hope it is absolutely wonderful!
Break a leg!
Hi all,
MY SOTD is Diptyque’s Eau Mage. Nice and balsamic, but not FB worthy. Will use up my decant though…
It’s so exciting NST turns 15! I think it’s kind of fun to read the old blog posts (even though the avatars are all ‘anon’), sometimes I can still manage to tell who is posting what!
I remember that I thought I might find the time to copy over some of the user names, HA, I can barely keep up as it is.
Hey everyone. Sotd is Shangri La. I never would have known of this beauty if not for NST.
For regular NST folk, I really want to give away my bottle of Pomigranite Noir, plus some random samples. If your interested call dibs and let me know through yahoo to gmrazoog.
Oh for U.S shipping only. Sorry.
Yum, you smell amazing, i still regret not buying the travel spray of Shangri La…
Atelier Cologne Silver Iris for hump day
You smell great!
A beautiful iris scent! You smell fabulous!
Started the day in a couple of samples that I’ve gotten from freebiemeets but neither were particularly worth skin space so I washed them off and am now in my wonderful Belgian souvenir of Lattedoro
Are you back home already? Was it wonderful?
I didn’t quite do as much touristing as I’d hoped because of my husband’s schedule and also because some attractions that I wanted to see were not open when I wanted to go. However, going to two lovely perfume shops, seeing the Dali x Magritte exhibit, the Magritte museum and the Cauchie house were all highlights. It rained and was grey the entire time but as the sign in the airport said, “Chocolate should be kept away from the sun so no wonder Belgian chocolate is the best” or something like that. Only tried chocolates from 5 brands…
I was there years ago, but the weather was poor then too so it is how I think of Belgium! I do remember eating very well though.
Busy Wednesday in theatre!Just got home!
SOTD Etro Heliotrope. My favorite from the house.Just beautiful.
Happy Wednesday!
XO
Off day tomorrow…YAY me!!Just had to share that too.Lol.
Oh I love that one too, so relaxing and perfect for summer.
It always makes me smile.I love perfumes that bring that really good, instant joy the minute you spray it!
You smell great! Enjoy your day off!!!!
Thanks M!I hope the week is treating you well!XO
Busy but ok! ?
There are quite a few lovely perfumes from Etro.
In Chinchilla cuz someone brilliant wore it yesterday. Definitely would never have sought it out to try if it had not been mentioned on NST–in fact I may never even have heard of DSH but for…
Have been very disciplined about my Nooming and diet overhaul–but golly that sweet bomb of pancakes, bananas, and Nutella looks good, a little horrifying, but also good. I better go eat some full grain, beige breakfast . . .
Hi Oakland! Not sure if you saw my reply to your post about Coco yesterday. Email me if you’d like some of the older stuff ?
Beige breakfast, lol
I wound up dotting the monotony with blackberries…
Oh, I’m Nooming too! How’s it going for you? Actually the breakfast burrito that I mentioned up above is a pretty good Noom-style breakfast, except if you put in bacon…. But the microwave/pre-cooked kind only has 20 calories per slice, so it’s really not terrible, even though it’s a “red” food.
It is going pretty well actually. I am feeling very virtuous at least. I have definitely downed my fair share of whole wheat tortillas–but I have yet to really enjoy them. Brown Jasmine rice, and brown Basmati, on the other hand, are now enjoyable staples. I’ll keep that in mind about the bacon if I get a craving for that salty fatty goodness!
My new Noom trick is orange salad dressing… I take a whole orange, peel it, chop it up finely saving all the bits and juice. I mix the orange bits and juice with a couple of teaspoons of really good, fancy olive oil, and pour that over salad, which I top with crunchy Maldon salt and a some black pepper.
Yum!
I hear you! I had yogurt & granola this morning.
My sotd was Bois d’encens, stolen’ from my husband (it was my christmas present for him)
Its quite handy to have a partner who appreciates nice fragrances. That way I can always gift him something awesome i love to wear myself as well ? haha.
But lets be honest: in the end he benefits the most…he smells mighty good AND does not need to spend one euro on it. ?
And isnt Bois d’encens wonderful??!!
I started sampling it because of NST. Thank you guys ?
In other perfume related news: i ‘bumped’ into a 100 ml bottle of Jubilation XXV discounted. 50 percent off!!!!
So thats a pretty good deal.
I asked the sales lady why and she thought it was because they sometimes clear out part of their collection so they can make space for new/other Amouages (they dont have room for the whole collection in that department store…).
So guess what came home with me today ?…..oh and this is my first Amouage bottle.
(….and now I need to lock away my debit and credit card for rest of the month)
You smell wonderful and congrats on the great deal!
Thank you!
Enjoy you new bottle!
Wearing it right now in all its glory! The sprayer from the bottle works better than the one on the sample vial.
Fabulous! The other Jubilation 25 was my first Amouage, and now I have several (I don’t like to think how much money they represent, even though I bought them through online discounters).
?
25 is high on my want/buy-list too.
They are both gorgeous, i think its the best Amouage couple/duo!
Wow, great perfume find! Enjoy!
Oh lucky, lucky you! I still think that’s the best modern Amouage.
SOTD = Bruno Fazzolari Ummagumma
…because Deva wore it yesterday and I wore it a year ago yesterday. I heard about Ummagumma here although perhaps not Deva. Anyway, it’s a super nice chocolate, incense, tonka, vanilla and smoke fragrance. 7 spritzes and I could probably do 1-3 more without asphyxiating myself ?.
https://www.instagram.com/p/B8LserFBl4G/?igshid=7h4h9lp2p8g6
I know what I’m wearing on Saturday!
7! You are brave, that one was really smoky on me. I could only dab.?
This is why I love NST, we love the same fragrance in our own way!
I usually have 10 sprays. It is not a loud perfume, so is easy to spray lavishly! ?
10 sprays????? ?
A la Hajusuuri! ?
LOL. We’re not shy ?
Today was 7 for me but next time, it will be 10!
??
? ? ?
I’m in 10 Corso Como thanks to a generous NSTer. My decant probably has 1-2 wears left and then I will likely get a bottle.
What a morning. Took my h to urgent care and it turns out he has pneumonia.? So many people coughing in the waiting room, I couldn’t wait to get the heck out of there.?Wash your hands people, and stay healthy!
Me & my bottle of 10 Corso Como are having another standoff. Last year the plastic cap on top got stuck on the bottle; it took some doing to get it off. And last weekend, I went to grab it before running out to dinner with friends, and it wouldn’t spray! Boo! Will have to sort out the sprayer now.
Hope your husband gets better soon!
Oh dear, good luck to your husband, and I hope you won’t catch it.
Oh no! Pneumonia can be a bear to deal with. (Speaking from personal experience.) I’m hoping for the best!
Oh no! Hope your husband feels better soon!
Oh no! Hope the hubby recovers quickly!
I hope your hubby feels better soon, mtg!
So sorry, hope he gets better soon!
You smell great. Speedy recovery to your DH!
Commando as I’ve had sinus problems lately. But as for the CP, I could have worn Silences, Iris Cendre (bought it blind because of Angela’s review “priest working in the garden etc” and many, many others.
Lot of that going around Amyitis! Hope it resolves soon.
Thanks, Robin. I always see your comments so late! But I’ll let you know what I think of Bill Bryson’s crankiness in his new book, once I’ve finished it. Thanks for the blog!
No worries, I often see everyone’s comments hours after they left them. Look forward to hearing about Mr. Bryson 😉
Wearing Antonia for the 4th day in a row. I am trying to thunk my small decant from a split offered by Clarissa a couple of years ago before it evaporates. I like it a lot and I would consider a small bottle (a little goes a long way with this one, I find).
Would you consider 17mL a small bottle?
Yes, because it’s small but mighty (not to mention mighty expensive) ?
I’m taking my time with NST this morning because it’s a holiday here. Waitangi Day marks the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi between Māori and the British Crown. There is generally a mix of celebration and protest, unsurprisingly.
Post-shower, I’m planning on trying a few more samples from Luckyscent. I can’t begin to think which things I’ve tried because of NST. There are lots!
Always glad to see you post Gaynor.
Late check-in, but here for afternoon report! 🙂
I had a few minutes to dig thru my sample box this morning, and I pulled Paco Rabanne One Million. Didn’t realize it was a men’s fragrance, but I’m perfectly OK with it! Spicy leather goodness; I smell like I’ve been hugging the hubs. I’ve seen mixed reviews on this one, but I like it….
JadainGa, I thought of you immediately when I saw this:
https://youtu.be/AFzi4dQOiiI
Male, female, who cares! You smell GOOD!
I don’t think I learned of it on NST, but I reached for FM Iris Poudre this morning. It’s a longtime favorite, and I wanted it to conform me through what I thought might be a stressful conversation at work (which actually turned out fine).
At first, my travel spray seemed to smell more alcoholy than I remember. Has anyone else had this experience with Malle travel sprays?
Glad it wasn’t as stressful as you expected!
I had a few FM sprays spoil, but never owned Iris Poudre.
SOTD is Youth Dew Amber Nude, which I hunted down after someone here on NST mentioned it. Good stuff! and I would certainly never have known about it without NST, since it pre-dates my interest in perfume.
It seems it is my turn for a perfume to go MIA in shipment. Here’s hoping it resolves as positively as Koyel’s Rose Jam misadventure. I managed to snag the last bottle of AA Ginger Piccante off Fragrancenet (lillyjo, thanks for the heads up!) but it has been stuck in Wyoming since last Thursday. They must be having serious bad weather! FedEx has no delivery date for it now. Someday…!
Yesterday I got a massive haircut — chopped off 14 inches to donate, and then my stylist got creative with the color. I like the work she does — the coloring always looks good — but the final result is always an adventure 🙂 This time it’s definitely reddish, darker than ever before, and way short on the blonde highlights. Whoa! I’ll see how I get used to it… might need to go back for some blonding.
Crossing fingers that that bottle of Ginger Piccante arrives safe and sound soon! ?
Sending you positive package vibes! ??
Good luck with your package! I’m waiting patiently (not) for my replacement bottle from Germany.
Jicky ExP for my continuing animalics week. Until now nobody has complained, or maybe they are too polite?. I tested Maroussia at the drugstore today, this also is fitting into my scent theme. Maybe i will try Francesca Bianchi tomorrow.
You smell great tannina! Love Jicky.
Omg, what a day! SOTD is The 7 Virtues (of which I have NONE?) Vetiver of Haiti.
No worries. T-Rex has you covered ?
She always has my back! ?
Pretty sure my count is very low too 😉
Robin, you did not only buy a perfume, but blind buy? Wow!
I’m in Armani Privee Oud Royal, it’s the third time in the last month, which is quite often for me.
I only very rarely buy blind anymore, but I do stress shop every so often!
I’m wearing my favorite NST-recommended iris, Prada Infusion d’Iris Absolue, and crossing my fingers that my ski bus isn’t cancelled for tomorrow. Winds are supposed to be 50-70 mph which would stop the lifts running, and it’s supposed to be a mix of rain and wet snow, too. Hoping for a weather miracle.
Wow that’s a nasty weather forecast.
Uh oh, good luck!
Today is even greyer and gloomier than yesterday was, weather-wise. Ugh.
SOTD = back in Caron Yatagan today. Part of it was to confirm if I had really smelled Eau de Poo or not in this. No poop today. But this is still a quiet, well mannered scent on me. Was this ever a powerhouse scent? It sure doesn’t act like something that was born in the 1970’s.
LOL. The “No poop today.” could be a caregiver describing a toddler’s day ?
?! I am still wondering what happened yesterday, though.
Oy! Not sure what about yesterday but this week is turning out to be like last week. Le sigh. I offered to meet with someone (she wanted to “analyze” something) and she was like I am doing x, do we really need to meet? Okaaaay. Sure. I will send her a data dump tomorrow and she can schedule time that is convenient for ME, no compromises because I’ve already been putting in 10-11 hour days, some days a little longer.
I would certainly have called it bold, and animalic.
Seems unlikely that it still has real castoreum.
My sample has been a spicy incense and pine scent. Nice, but rather low key compared to the Sammarco Vitrum I tried earlier this week.
I think almost everything by Caron has been seriously reformulated over the last 20-30 years, some things apparently more than once.
I’m wearing Ambre Narguile today from the most recent Splitmeet. Our weather turned cold and I wanted the warmth.
When I visited Mom yesterday she was not at all herself, listless and unresponsive. I asked the nurse to check her out and she did and said at least it was not a stroke, and that perhaps she was just tired. I hope she’ll be better when I go tomorrow. It’s worrying.
Is she getting enough fluids? My uncle was pretty dehydrated when he was in care. So, just asking.
Oh, Calypso, I am sorry to hear about your mom. I hope that she is doing better the next time you see her. Seconding OF’s comment about fluids… my brother and I nag our mom about drinking enough water all the time.
If that’s a sudden change, my suggestion would be to have her checked for either a UTI or a respiratory infection if she’s still like that tomorrow. Older people with dementia usually show changes in mental status from relatively simple infections. I hope it’s nothing, but better safe…
Hoping your mother will be better tomorrow, Calypso, maybe the best would be a visit to the doctor.
So sorry your mom was not herself when you visited her today. Here’s hoping she bounces back by tomorrow!
Agree with others on this thread. My mom had a UTI at one point and we didn’t know. They often can’t communicate how they are feeling. I hope she’s in better spirits when you see her tomorrow.
So sorry Calypso. Hope she is better tomorrow.
So sorry about your mom. I agree with the others – she needs to be checked for dehydration, UTI and URI.
In Youth Dew Amber Nude today, this one is definitely for winter.
Twins!!! I definitely did not think I would have a twin today 🙂
Same here 🙂 How nice, you smell marvellous Pixel.
SSS Winter Woods today, still on the Amber Project. This is much more a woodsy incense, and I’m not sure it’s for me. Will probably be swapping this 5ml travel spray.
And I passed on my sample because it was mostly an amber to me and not enough woods. Maybe we should swap noses? ?
Wearing my decant of Beige from an NST split…
