It's Friday and Backward Day! Our community project for today: reverse your usual perfume choice or routine in some way.
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I'm wearing a few drops of Frankincense Oil and a few drops of Sweet Orange Oil, mixed with Carina Organics Unscented lotion. This is what I wear to bed on the nights I'm not wearing Aftelier Ancient Resins.
Reminder: on Saturday, 2/8, Now Smell This turns 15! For our birthday, we're moving the Friday Project to Saturday, and meshing it with the Lazy Weekend Poll. Wear a fragrance that you found out about from Now Smell This, or received in a freebiemeet, swapmeet or splitmeet, or just wear a favorite fragrance that you've talked about on Now Smell This. Plus, if you can, share the single best tip or piece of advice you ever received from another reader. (There will be no post on Friday, by the way, because I'm traveling again...if you want to chat, use the Thursday poll!)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2020, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: You can find the "Stressed is Desserts spelled backwards" image on a variety of commercial products, including as a poster at Amazon.
Congratulations, Robin! Thank you for all the scented happiness you bring to us.
Thanks SarahN!
SotD Ombre Leather, by Tom Ford.
Not participating in the cp.
Although…..It was a gift for my husband but I am stealing it back, spray for spray. That is sort of reversing my gift, right? ?
It certainly is!
Yes!
Scentless and sick?
Oh no,
Get better soon!
Feel better
Uh oh, hope you feel better soon!
TGIF and you have the weekend to get better. Stay warm and relaxed!
Feel better soon!
Passing you a cup of Throat Coat tea! Feel better soon!
Oh no. Fluids and rest. ((((CM8))))
Feel better soon!?❤️???????
Take care of yourself and get better soon!
It’s never timely to be sick, but I especially hate when it happens on weekends: by Monday we’re often better enough not to take time off, so we crawl to work tired from fighting the sickness instead of being rested.
Best wishes for a quick recovery.
So no winterwoods today. I hope you make a swift recovery!
Feel better soon, hope you can use the weekend to relax.
oh no! put your mask on and feel better!
Aww, that’s no good ? Feel better STAT!
Oh no! Hope you feel better soon!
Drat, sorry!
Boo, that stinks! I hope your cold is short lived. ?
Eeek! Sending you feel well vibes!
Sending healing vibes your way!
SOTD is Feu Secret. Not sure if I qualify for CP points, but I can make a (very weak) case that I decided on Feu Secret last night … and I usually wait until morning to choose a scent for the day. Hmm. Anyway, Friday at last!
I took over wearing Indochine from you SheriG.!
Out of my desert island bottles this is the only one I don’t have a bub for. And this is my no spend year…dang.
Well I guess I will lobby friends and family for Luckyscent gift cards for birthday.
Robin, thank you so much for providing this community such a sweet spot for 15 years!
Oh yay – Indochine forever! 🙂 Keeping fingers crossed that someone(s) will come through for you with that gift card.
A very weak case is better than no case at all!
I did my CP yesterday by wearing Miller & Bertaux Green green green and green, for 2 reasons: 1. I usually want to wear my newer scents, whereas this is one of the oldest bottles I own, and 2. I never thunk anything, and this is the bottle I am closest to thunking (and will probably be the first large bottle I ever use up!) I didn’t quite make it to the bottom, but I’m very close and I really do need the space…
Today I’m wearing M&B A Quiet Morning, because I woke up 10 minutes before I left the house and it’s a favorite no-brainer.
Good luck with your thunk! You smell wonderful and peaceful 🙂
My GGGG did not hold up well enough to ever finish it…boo.
I had to toss an off bottle of it too. I got that bottle in a swap. But then I went out and purchased a bottle myself, about a year and a half ago and have barely worn it. I hope it wasn’t a foolish purchase because I do love the perfume.
Start wearing it more, that is my advice! I would buy another bottle if it came in 15 ml.
All the talk yesterday of bread..I made toast this morning with strawberry jam.
Greek coffee turned out better, it turns out I need to add more coffee.
We are going to a Brexit party this evening. Our friends here that work for the consulate are throwing a party and our kids are invited too. I was thinking of bringing an Indian sweet called Gulab jamun, to mark Englands first “Brexit” in India. They are suggested people can dress up, I don’t know what to do for that…
Congrats on NST anniversary! Thanks to you Robin (and Kevin, Jessica etc)
Thank you! And do have fun at the Brexit party.
I’m wearing Ginger Piccante, from the new bottle that I just bought, unsniffed. I love the combo of ginger and rose.
so…what do you think???
Isn’t good? Glad to hear you love it!
Priscilla, you smell fantastic. I too am contemplating a (non-blind) purchase.
My bottle arrived on Wednesday and I wore it yesterday. It’s really good stuff isn’t it? ☺
Yay for your new bottle! It is good stuff!
I want to thank everyone who mentioned how good it was. I would never buy a FB unsniffed if it wasn’t for the many positive comments on NST.
That’s what I’m wearing too!
Highly reco’d if you haven’t sampled it!
Ginger Piccante might be the big lemming of this year, based on all the love it’s been getting.
I need to count my enabler pins ?
I will have to try it, eventually. I still have other samples to experience and I find myself enjoying things at a more leisurely and thoughtful pace. I have enjoyed Pamplelune for several years now and I just do not feel the need to immediately add this to the hoard. But now that you have mentioned this glorious ginger fragrance I think I will put ginger EO in the diffuser!
15 years, very cool! That’s a lot of fragrance talk. Bet when you were a kid this was not the career you would have ever thought up for yourself 😉 And it’s so much more than fragrance…it’s a community that you’ve helped foster, and friendships and care and so many other good things. You should be proud. We are 🙂
SOTD: Libre; and I can’t believe when I first purchased this I’d use a few sprays. This stuff is crazy strong! My poor colleagues. Now I just dab a small amount and it still leaves a trail. I do enjoy this scent and happy I purchased it.
I really do like Libre! It feels like something from the past, big energy and all! 🙂 I’m going to need to try dabbing it…I work from home, but worry it’s wafting to the neighbors’ at times. ?
Everybody should be proud that we have managed to maintain a consistently kind little corner of the internet 🙂
?
SOTD/CP: Amarante Parfums Heracléa Eau de parfum (Tunisian brand, scent itself discontinued) which is basically a kick of Mediterranean summer in the face. I’ll see how I feel trotting it out in Canadian winter!
Notes: bergamot, Sicilian lemon, eucalyptus, mint, tonka, sandalwood, musk and amber.
I was scared of thunking the Heracléa for the last year so used it quite sparingly, but luckily my friend had also bought a bottle at the same time (2014).
He decided it wasn’t quite him though, and so he gifted me his practically full bottle late last year, by which point mine had diminished to 5%. Woohoo!
How lovely of him, and how lucky for you 🙂
Good morning Y’all, and Happy FriYAY! and…..Goodbye January! (January dragged out a long time!) 🙂
Smelling like a marshmallow dipped in incense…..Mariah Carey M is an interesting mix and I really like it. A goodie from Walmart is always fun….
January always feels so long.
Marshmallows and incense sounds interesting. Is it too sweet?
It’s more incense than sweet on me, and projecting a bit more than I like at work, but it’s not too sweet…..
Thanks! I need to give it a try!
You smell good! I enjoyed my bottle of M so much it’s one of the few I ever thunked, I found the incense/marshmallow combo interesting and well-done.
I was craving for L’Artisan Ginger Piccante this morning, but reversed my decision to wear Molton Brown Bizarre Brandy, since I had not tried yet! Sooooo yummy!!!!!! Thanks Hajusuuri!
Sounds delicious!I am eyeing the new Orris Suede from Molton Brown, the showergel is spectacularly iris-rooty as well!
Happy Weekend!
It is like a party scent! There is a burst of ginger and mapple syrup in the opening, but that fades quickly. It is mostly brandy and tobacco on me. Delicious!
Oof sounds really really good!I’ll go sniff ASAP!
I enjoyed my sample, too. You described it well but, luckily, I don’t smell a tobacco note, which is a note I dislike.
It is better if you do not get tobacco. That way you can really enjoy it! My skin usually amplifies tobacco, so that is the reason why is so prominent on me on Bizarre Brandy. I don’t love that note much, but in certain scents I find it to be very nice.
Oh, I’ve been hankering after that one, too. I love a rooty iris!
You are my spirit animal,lol!
I LIVE for a good rooty iris!!
Ginger seems to be a “thing” in perfume lately. Not that I mind.
It is true! Ginger Piccante is a great one, but Twilly is still my favorite ginger scent!
Yay!
I was going to do another day of Diptyque, but I felt like Dune today so that’s what I’m in.
The weatherman said we are going to have a LOT of sun on Sunday and temps close to 50!? Can’t wait!
Kind of summer break! Yay!
I know! Spring is right around the corner!???
Love Dune – it’s one I’d wear on a gray, moody, day but never a sunny one.
Then it was perfect for today because that’s the kind of weather we had!?
Wow, those are really warm temps for your area this time of year! Looks like I’m not the only one having weird weather.
They are! Unseasonably warm, I’ll take it!?
Once again, we were almost twins. I need to quit changing my mind at the last minute.
Dang! One of these days!? Hopefully this weekend we will be SUN twins!?
Dune is so lovely and you smell marvelous! The only time I ever asked someone, that I had not been introduced to, what fragrance they were wearing, it was Dune!
Thank you!
My usual routine doesn’t have me applying perfume in the afternoon in Europe so I’m about as far off my normal routine as I can get. Went to Smell Stories in Brussels and ended up buying Lattedoro from Gabriella Chieffo. Lovely little store with several brands I’d never heard of and apparently fairly new
Sounds so fun! Wish I were there.
Oh yay, so glad you found something to buy already!
I’m in Dior Homme Cologne 2013, a fabulous summer scent. I usually wear it in high heat so this is the turn over for today.
Points for you, Sebastian!
Happy Friday! I’m in Shiseido Inoui – I’ve posted about my love for this one before – it’s not exactly a reversed perfume choice, but it is a reversed category choice. This is the one relatively old-school green scent that I have and love.
I have never smelled it, but old-school green has to be good.
More amber today! Ambre Loup over (wow, this is a surprise) amber flush body oil.
I guess I sorta get points? I don’t think I’ve ever worn amber fragrances three days in a row. Hmm, wonder how long I can keep this going.
Next time we get together again, I must remember to bring you a little sample of my MPG Santal Noble.
That would be lovely! If you’d like, I’ll bring a sample of Ambre Mythique for a MPG swap. ?
Robin, where is your sweet orange oil from? Sounds like something I would love.
Aura Cacia. Someday when I am particularly flush I am going to buy a whole bunch of oils from Enfleurage.
(Actually Enfleurage’s organic SO is only pennies more than the Aura Cacia, so I am waiting to be so flush that I am willing to pay for shipping, and can afford all the cool incense oils they sell)
Love the details here! I am trotting iff to look these oils up!
Thanks!
I’m wearing Casmir parfum today from a purse spray I bought when it was first released. I never wear it anymore but keep the spray for the good memories of that time.
Wearing makeup today to go get some visa photos taken. I looked so pale in the last batch.
Had to renew my driver’s license last month, and actually bothered to apply eyeliner & brow definer beforehand.
Next year, the passport expires…may even have to add a bit of blush!
The next time I get my DL photo taken, I may go to Sephora for a free makeover right before!
Leaving the house now to get my dogs their licenses and then go to work. Wearing L’heure de Nuit. Not a big fan of powdery scents but I am wearing the littlest dab.
That’s great! Now they’ll be able to drive themselves wherever they need to go! 😉
My thought exactly!!!
I love L’Heure de Nuit, you smell wonderful.
Using this CP as an excuse to play with a sample. Never worn before = outside the normal routine, right? I’m trying Byredo Bal D’Afrique.
I have that one as a hair perfume….. hmmmm… methinks I want to wear it!
Kinda participating,as Top 5 of all time turned into Top Iris favorites week!
SOTD!
Ermenegildo Zegna Acqua di Iris.I have mentioned in the past that I stumbled upon this one by accident, but WHAT A FIND!The scent overall leans more masculine, but it is a solid earthy, rooty woody Iris perfume. Not too sure about distribution worldwide, but I found it at a large chain store in South Africa(Our version of the US Gap basically).
So a week of Iris bliss consisted of 28 La Pausa,Bendelirious,Beloved, and the Zegna. Not too sure if PoaL also has Iris?
I did wear PoaL on Sunday,so I am happy.
The last of my Top 5 today would have been Chanel No.5,but it was way too hot (33 celcius today) for that.
Happy Weekend friends!
XO
I left an Iris out!Iris Meadow!How could I forget that one??Lol!!
You smelled fantastic this week! Very beautiful top 5!
Enjoy your weekend!
Thank you my friend! So did you!(as always!)
Happy weekend,I hope you have some me-time planned!XO
Your scent sounds beautiful and you should get points for a difficult designer’s name. 33, it makes me sigh with envy.
Haha!I had the box on hand to spellcheck the name!Lol!
Stay warm Aurora!??
I’ve been curious about that Zegna so nice to hear it’s good! Pretty sure I’ve seen it on one of the FB sale groups or other. Nice top 5 list, and pretty eclectic! I actually prefer Chanel no 5 in the heat! ?
Wow,really?Well it’s supoosed to be 33 celcius today,so maybe I’ll give it a whirl too!Going to an antique fair in a fairly well airconditioned mall,so let’s see!
*supposed.It’s 7:34 am,power outage and I need coffee….off to the country club who does own a generator…lol.
XO
Sounds like a great week, TGIF!
It was a great week,yup!Happy Weekend T!
Rabbit Rabbit Rabbit!
??
Happy weekend!
Thank you!To you as well!??
Enjoy your iris-scented weekend!
Maybe branching out a bit over the weekend, thinking No.5 today, inspired by Elisa P!xo
Today I am wearing…drumroll please…Rose Jam!!!!! That’s right; for those of you who have been following along with my post office “drama,” the package was delivered to me last night!!! I’m so excited and relieved. The package feels all the more special for its misadventures. It’s just the Rose Jam body spray, which is supposed to have a low percentage of perfume oils in it, but a single spray of the body spray is still quite potent. I love it.
Cazaubon, I hope your package arrived this time with no breakages 🙂
Congratulations, Robin! Picking a scent for next weekend will be trivial; almost ALL the scents I have heard of are from NST. Or at the very least, if I had first heard about them elsewhere, their recollections were solidified here.
The body spray is basically perfume to my nose as well. And it lasts forever! So glad I got it,seems the South African Lush are discontinuing perfumes and body sprays as they do not sell at all(according to a sales assistant at the one in Johannesburg)
Oh no, that’s so sad! I wonder if that’s because it’s nearly impossible to smell them properly inside of a LUSH, with all the other smells everywhere.
That could be yes.But also, very few shoppers here are into the quirkier side of perfumes, like the ones from LUSH.If they do buy,it’s rather from the similar more familiar shops like The Body Shop or L’Occitane.
Congratulations!!!! Post office drama is always the worst so it’s ultra nice that the payoff feels worth it.
Thank you! I was SHOCKED that this particular drama resolved itself in the space of less than a week 🙂 totally unexpected and a nice boost to an otherwise tough week!
Hurrah! This gave me a big smile.
🙂 \o/
So glad for you Koyel, yes there is something about delayed gratification.
Thanks!
I tried a bunch of the body sprays yesterday and found them all to be pretty potent- Rose Jam is especially so (as was Flying Fox).
Glad it made its way to you so quickly! Impressed and envious of your postal efficiency.
Our local post office was very recently audited because of a community pressure campaign in response to terrible service, and they found large bins-worth of mail in a store room that was never, ever sent out for delivery (some pieces going back a few years)! ?
Holy moly! That’s some serious incompetence.
SMH.
Omg! I’m pretty sure I read about your post office in the news!
Yay!! Good news. My package is coming from Germany so it will take 10-12 days. I will be sure to report when it does though.
Awesome news, and we’re house triplets today! Very pleased to hear that your package showed up so quickly.
Trying to play along! I am in Lyric, which is a perfume that I wound up liking, not loving, and swapped away. I did keep a decant’s-worth, which is why I can wear it today.
I know all about those like-but-not-love situations! ?
I’m participating, I think, by wearing Nuxe Prodigieux Le Parfum which I think of as a summer scent but worked really well today, although it’s not cold, 15 degrees today, and I’m wearing it without layering with the oil, a thing I normally do.
Awesome weather for you!
It’s felt like a mini spring, the afternoon was even sunny but clouds gathered in the evening. Hoping you will have some sunshine in Michigan too.
Sadly, still no sunshine here.
has felt of course
I’m hoping for at least one good cold snap to kill off a lot of the pests I will otherwise have to deal with this summer.
Yes, the gardener’s point of view 🙂
I guess Backward week for me has meant going back and trying things I almost liked again. Une Amourette today. Still almost like it.
Same here – loved it the first time, liked it the second time, thought “what happened to the sample?” the 3rd time.
I’m wearing the glorious Mitsouko (extract de parfum) which to me is the most perfect scent for autumn, or at least late summer. So wearing it while we are moving towards spring seems like a proper inversion.
Gosh, 15 years. I can’t remember when I started reading, but I first commented in June 2008, when you did your lovely review of my old love, Paris YSL.
I’m so glad you are still blogging. NST is a wonderful place on the web and I’m so grateful for it.
What you said about Mitsouko and NST 🙂 🙂 🙂 !!
I also love the old Paris YSL. I keep looking for a small bottle of it but haven’t pulled the trigger yet. I’m also not sure when I first began reading NST. How did you find your first comment? I’d like to try.
I remembered where I had made it. Don’t ask, I can never remember where I leave physical things like car keys, but I remember pretty much everything else ?
So when we do that CP everyone should say when they started commenting!
Short of going commando (which I NEVER do: if I feel good enough to go to the office, I’m fine wearing perfume), which I couldn’t bring myself to do, it wasn’t easy to come up with something fitting the theme.
Wearing By Kilian Black Phantom from the sample: I never wear perfumes from samples to work. Nutty. Nice. I don’t think I’ll need more than my sample.
You get points!
🙂 Thank you!
SOTD = Sultan Pasha Irisoir Attar
On theme because I only have a few Attars and don’t wear them often.
https://www.instagram.com/p/B7_o6cmhl-t/?igshid=19nuarxcwj1tp
I will be back later to read the comments. Crazy deadline approaching ….
Good luck on your deadline!
Thank you. Deadline met … more next week. Keeping fingers, toes and eyes crossed I won’t have to put in time this weekend!
We’re all pulling for you. 🙂
Hang in there!
Thank you!
Wow! 15 years. I first started reading NST around 2009, but didn’t venture into commenting for a very long time. I think my first comment was to say “Congratulations” on 10 years 🙂
Wearing a dab of Alghabra’s Ottoman Treasure from a recent sample purchase from Luckyscent. It’s quite a nice oud-based perfume, I’ll enjoy using up the sample, but it won’t make it on to my buy list. Meanwhile, I will smell of faraway places as I do the very prosaic Saturday morning cleaning.
I also found NST in 2009. Wow. That means I’ve been reading and hanging out here for over 10 years now.
SB Smoked Ambergris for a very delighted friYAY preceding THREE blessed days off! ?
Woohoo, enjoy! 🙂
Nice!
In Grandiflora Queen of the Night today.
I just didn’t know how to tackle the community project.
Oh, you smell marvelous. I have a sample of that, and though I can tell it’s quite well done, I just can’t decide if it’s ‘me’ or not.
Besides National Backward Day, it’s also National Hot Chocolate Day, and I’m enjoying a mocha hot chocolate – along with a sugar cookie – while I write this. Yum!
Although I’m retired I still celebrate Casual Friday and like to apply it to my fragrance choices as much as I can while still participating in the community project, so on Fridays I prefer either a casual, breezy linear scent or a warm gourmand and save my favorite vintage classics, my ‘dress-up’ scents, for other times. So I’m opting for one of those to play ‘backwards’ today and chose PB Jolie Madame as my SOTD – violets and leather, a subtle complex blend of midnotes – and the lovely, lovely chypre base somehow make the ninth day of no-sun less depressing. It’s a favorite of mine, along with his other classics, Vent Vert, Miss Balmain, and Ivoire.
Looking forward to sun on Sun-day (how appropriate!) and hope the sun shines on you this weekend!
The classic Balmains are among my favorites too, with Jolie Madame right at the top – you smell divine, and not at all casual!
Like Lucasi, I had a very hard time figuring out how to do this CP. Hmmm. I was planning to go out to a special sale at an Australian Aboriginal art gallery here, which is doing the sale to benefit bushfire victims, both human and animal. So I thought to myself, what is the opposite of Australia or “down under”? I came up with the Far North and by that logic, chose Agonist Nordic Noir. It’s a bit convoluted, I know, but hey, it’s creative, right? Plus, I bought two new small paintings, woo-hoo! I’ll post a picture soon. The gallery owner is so friendly and knowledgeable, it’s a pleasure to go there.
Here they are! One still needs to be stretched. I plan to hang the together, vertically. I have just the place picked out for them. These are small, 12” x 12”.
https://www.instagram.com/p/B7_27vRJjWB/?igshid=eeaunovzgz8p
they look lovely!
Thank you!
they are very lovely!
Yes, very creative! And nice artwork. Kudos for helping a good cause ?
Love the colors in your new artwork! ?
I guess I’m out of my routine as I’m only sporting body products (speaking of LUSH).
I made a run after work yesterday to re-up my shampoo bar (Seanik) and ended up also buying the new-ish American Cream pressed conditioner to see if it worked more easily than their other solid conditioners, which were a bust for me. And I have to say it’s pretty great and much easier to use, and it detangles. The scent is a bit sweet for me and really lingers. I hope they make more in different scents. And I’m wearing Sleepy lotion which is cozy on this gray day.
I did get to try out a bunch of their newer additions to perfume range (love the Orange Blossom) and body sprays (I liked the forest one). No purchases on that horizon, but it was fun sniffing- though as mentioned above in Koyel’s post, it is hard to smell stuff in the store. Too much olfactory chaos in there.
I smelled the American cream in the perfume form and thought it was sweet too.
Yeah, not something I’d choose as a perfume since I don’t really love sweet stuff. It’s nice for a minute in the shower.
Hi there house twin! I liked American Dream when I sniffed the shower gel, but not sure I’d go for it as a perfume.
I’m hoarding a sample of the Sleepy lotion; really like it. I’m about out of the matching body spray and can’t decide if I want another body spray or just go for the Sleepy.
The Sleepy lotion and the Twilight body spray are winter essentials for me. The comfort of lavender and Tonka is something I never get tired of.
I’ve been waiting for them to bring back Orange Blossom, but so far they only have it in 100ml for more than I want to spend. I’m hoping they’ll offer it in a 30ml bottle. Or maybe it’s a splitmeet contender?
Last day of backward week for me is a little lame since I already played out all my ideas – wearing an un-seasonal scent, matching body lotion and scent, and applying in different places:
Ciel d’Opale (with Bodyshop lotion that is a close dupe), behind the knees. When you’re wearing jeans, that’s kind of pointless, though. But – points!
Curious to know what the dupe is…
I’ll have to look at bottle at home. Florana or something like that. Floralia?
I love Ciel d’Opale – so pretty and uplifting.
I wasn’t aware of today’s theme in advance, but the SOTD fits quite well.I’m in PoaL which I haven’t worn for several years. Also in recent years I’ve tended to wear much more demure scents (think Chanel).
That works!
You smell fantastic!
I’m curious about which Chanel perfumes you loved in the demure category??
I think Beige and Bois des Iles aren’t likely to upset anyone ?
For the CP, I went with “Perfumes I rarely wear, and always think I should wear more often, when I get around to wearing them.” Today it is Perles de Lalique, which is a bargain basement, pepper/rose/iris/woods combo that I think is darn good.
Does Perles de Lalique resemble the original Agent Provocateur at all?
Not to my nose. I only vaguely remember sampling Agent Provocateur, but I recall that it was brighter and higher pitched than Perles.
I went for a summer scent for my incense week and wore Jasmin Angelique in winter.
We went to a goldsmith today and ordered our wedding rings. Still dont have a fixed date, but we will find one this year.
The rings are Mokume Gane rings, a japanese technique, are custom made and can not be replicated again. I hope they will turn out great.
Congratulations on your engagement and rings! I have a mokume gane band too, so beautiful.
Congratulations!
Mokume gane, I had to look that up, it looks beautiful! And congrats on the engagement/wedding plans!
I had to look up Mokume Gane also. It’s beautiful! Congratulations!
Oooh, those are beautiful, I’m sure. I’m drooling over some on Etsy. How exciting!
Googling those rings immediately!And congratulations!?????❤️?
RINGS=WOW.Unique and lovely!
Celebrating spring in winter with 4160 Tuesdays Mother Nature’s Naughty Daughters. 🙂
gosh, I love that perfume name. It tells a whole story in a few words. 😀
Is it a racy perfume?
Oh no, it’s flowery and sweet, very innocent actually. Fun name though!
Cool name!I’m yet to explore this range, apart from Sunshine and Pancakes.
So much for the sunshine. Lots of thick grey clouds here today. But still weirdly warm, and the 7-day forecast has more of the same. Even possibly record high temps! ☁?
I’ve gotta share some good news with the NST crew… my friend who had been in hospital went home last night! She’s still going to need IV antibiotics for a while, but going home is a huge first step in getting well.
SOTD = LUSH Lust solid perfume. Yes, this is my one and only solid perfume. So that’s kind of backwards for me. However, I’ve seen that LUSH now has the Ginger, Rose Jam, and Lord of Misrule solid perfumes. I might have to go sniffing soon…
Very glad for you about your friend now recovering at home. And enjoy the ‘weird warmth’.
I am not much into solids either.
I like the solid of Lust for general sniffing purposes most of the time. It’s a quick pick me up to open the lid and inhale. Today is the first time I’ve used it as a skin perfume. It’s surprisingly subtle.
“Subtle” compared to the spray version, that is. Even the solid has impressive longevity on me.
Great news about your friend. And always better to be home!
Thanks springpansy! “No place like home” for sure.
That’s great news! Nothing like home to start feeling better!
Yes it is! She missed her kitty and her VSO very much.
You smell beautiful! 😀
I had lots of solid perfumes when I was young. They were gifts from my grandmother and mother. I especially liked a few that I was given that were pieces of costume jewelry that had solid perfume hidden inside. Fun memories.
Thank you! I remember some of the Coty Sweet Earth perfumes from way back in the day. But those were used up long ago…
Really good news for your friend!
As much as I’ve tried, Lust is too potent for me, even in solid form.
Yep, I am so glad that she’s home now.
Lust has a lot more bubblegum on my skin than what I get from a casual sniff of the tin. It’s definitely one of those mood dependent scents for me. Not sure I will be able to wear it in summer.
On me, It’s all indolic.
Good news about your friend!
Thank you! ?
How wonderful your friend is home, may she have a speedy and complete healing. I have a work friend who is dealing with a brain tumor right now, I am very worried for her, especially since she is single and has four cats to care for.
Oh geez, I hope that your work friend has a good outcome with her situation!
Even in solid form, I feel like Lush Lust quickly ends up wearing me, rather than the reverse. The solid of Rose Jam strikes me as very sweet. I like Sun and Vanilliary in solid form. Cardamom Coffee is up there for me as a favorite for Lush solid perfumes. In solid form, Breath of God still ends up wearing me, but I was glad for the opportunity to try that and Imogen Rose. (Thank you, 50_Roses!). Apparently it’s been a while since Imogen Rose has been available as anything other than a bottle of liquid perfume. I find the solid very nice, though.
I can definitely see Lust blowing up and becoming a perfume kaiju. A little goes a very long way with that one.
I’ve worn perfumes by the same perfumer all week, which is pretty rare for me. Wrapping up the work week in Francesca Bianchi Sex and the Sea Neroli. It’s a very nice perfume with a big blast of, you guessed it, neroli up top paired with petitgrain, bergamot, honey, and mimosa. It actually quiets down quickly and has a lot less sillage than the others in the line. The same can be said for the original Sex and the Sea. They’re both good perfumes, but compared with the others in the line they’re probably the two that speak to me the least. I do still have The Lover’s Tale to try this weekend.
Busy Friday at work, so I’m super excited for the weekend to arrive.
S&SN sounds lovely! Neroli always makes me smile. 😀
SotD = Geisha Vanilla Hinoki, 8 sprays!
I’m a habitual under-sprayer. 8 sprays really made me feel like a perfume daredevil. 😀
To be honest, I sprayed 4 times, waited an hour, then added 4 more. It was haaaaard (insert whining face here) but fun to go against my usual tendencies. I chose GVH because I was sure the woody base would be lovely at high volume.
And which NST perfumista inspired 8 sprays? any guesses? hee-hee
Hope everyone had a fantastic FriYAY!
So how are you feeling after your reckless perfume spraying encounter? ?
It was a lovely adventure, geisha-style! ?
LOL. You SMELL FANTASTIC!!!
aw thanks, I do like Geisha Vanilla Hinoki turned up to 8! And thank you for all your perfumed inspiration. ☺️
You smell fabulous! Spritz til your socks are wet! 🙂
That sounds awwwwwesome! ?
It’s been a rough week here. Today for work I wore Vanilla Vibes because it’s a summer perfume. Turns out I only like to smell it briefly. It annoyed me to wear it all day. Now I’m home and relaxing in vintage Ma Griffe, thanks to magical Aurora. I smell incredible! I really think I should concentrate on wearing the classics and give up on the new stuff for awhile.
You had mentioned feeling an urge for classic perfumes recently, right? Sounds like a good reason to wear the ones you have then.
Yeah, they are really fitting my style lately. If I had any style, that is, lol.
Oh stahp! Your perfume choices belie that statement.
Oh, meant to say… Gail I’ve been missing your nightime posts, hope all is well. Petunia too!?
Were you able to speak to the principal?
No. Another message, and no call back. I tried calling the special needs supervisor for the district also. I have to wait until Monday now.
I’m also wearing a lot of my more classical scents lately too, mostly Guerlain. They are pretty and soothing.
Do you have any recommendations?
Here’s a list of my favorites: Rose Barbare, L’Heure de Nuit, Mon Précieux Nectar, Angélique Noire, Cuir Beluga, Spiritueuse Double Vanille, Mademoiselle Guerlain, Gourmand Coquin, and le Parfum du 68. If you’d like to try any of these let me know, I’d be happy to send you a sample.
I too had a difficult time deciding which one to wear today. Nothing felt backwards enough. I was deciding between CDG Clash Series Radish & Vetiver (which clashing, backwards seemed sort of fitting) or Etat Libre d’Orange Tom of Finland (which was stolen from my collection and I had to replace) and I decided to go with Gucci Rush for Men, a divine cedar scent I have adored since it came and went. Oh how I wish they’d bring it back! That and Gucci Envy, I’d stock up on both.
Even non perfume guys liked Envy. Gucci really should bring it back.
Commando today. I took a friend who can’t drive but loves cats to the SPCA. She’d volunteered there for some time, but then was unable to get transportation. She went right in to socialize with the cats. I came into “Kitty City” later and she introduced me to the little group of cats in there. She was very happy to be able to spend time there again.
They rescued a bunch of cats from a flooded area, and now have a ton of cats. This weekend, the Brandywine Valley SPCA is offering cats for free. You know you want one…lol
Oh I’m so happy she was able to br with the kittys because of you!
That’s really awesome that you gave your friend a ride to see the kitties! ?
Guerlain L’Homme Ideal Cologne for me! It’s backwards because I usually wear classically feminine fragrances, often florals. Such a shame this has been discontinued, it’s very nice. I’ll probably give it to my son or husband once I’m done playing with it, lol. I’ve seen it more than once on sale at TJ Maxx or Marshall’s, if anyone’s looking for it.
Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit! Congratulations on 15 glorious years of love and civility and perfume! Wearing Aromatics Elixir Perfumers Reserve from 2011, which I read about here. A gloriously smooth rendition of this amazing fragrance. Is it just me that thinks fragrances from this house age very nicely?
That bodes well for my little travel spray of the regular AE. Good to know!
