Happy Friday the 13th! Our community project for today is Scents of the Season, part 2...wear something that smells like baked goods, or has a baked goods accord, or just reminds you of holiday baking. Thanks go to thegoddessrena for the suggestion!
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I'm having a soda with my dessert, in A Lab on Fire Paris*LA.
Reminder: 12/20 will be De-stress Friday (a repeat from 2014)...as we approach the holidays, wear something that keeps you tranquil and relaxed.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2019, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Jeux de Peau, Serge Lutens. This project has been owned!
Yeah! That’s what I wore yesterday. I was surprised by how pleasant it was as I would catch whiffs of it later on during the day. Good choice!
Tested about 50+ samples between yesterday and early this morning.
Post shower palate cleanse in Leau Dambre body lotion.
50?!!? That’s a lot of sampling! Anything good?
I went a bit bonkers! I even sprayed the belt if my bathrobe in various places up and down.
Off the top my head I liked Vanilla Cake, Blonde and Trimorous ( not sure of the exact name but it’s one of the Jorum). I know there were more but I can’t remember them!!
The Memos were gorgeous too…but some on the masculine side…that wouldn’t stop me from wearing them, though. And I liked Etro Heliotrope but it’s fleeting.
I am blown away too! I would not be able to smell anything after about 15.
Speed sniffing ??
50+ perfume samples?!? ?
Yup
TGIF! Not participating in the cp. I am in a copious amount of vintage Yves Rocher Vie Priveé. I needed a nice, no brainer scent for one of “those” days at work. It is doing its job just right.
Love the name and I’m after a good freesia, I’ll have to give this one a try!
If you are in the States I can send you some to try, if you want. ?
How kind! I am reachable at my user name + doublemint at gmail.
Emailed you, but not sure if it went thru. If not, I am at monica67@aol.com
I love that one. You smell pretty.
Thank you!
I have it too, you smell delightful.
Thank you, Aurora. It is indeed a beautiful perfume!
Enjoy your weekend, pl67! It sounds like it’s time for a recharge.
Thank you, Jalapeno! You too have a great weekend! ?
I am not participating in the CP
I am in No 5 Eau Premier, I am going to stick my neck out and say I like this more than the original…
I finished My absolute Darling book, geez, it was intense and graphic.
I am taking a break from reading and will just focus on learning Italian for now, maybe trying to read some Italian news online…
I like it more than the original too. You smell lovely!
thank you 🙂
I prefer the Eau Premiere as well, though the parfum is gorgeous too.
I have a mini of the Parfum
Right there with you.
Team No 5…
I cannot pick a favorite among the No.5 sisters!
Reminiscence Tonka. It does not quite smell like baking, but it definitely smells like a dessert.
Plus, smells like an ingredient in baking, so good enough for points 🙂
Good morning! I’m all in today in Ummagumma for chocolate and Tea for Two for spices.
Oh nice! Do they go well together?
Yes, better than I expected!
I’m smelling of chocolate hazelnut spread in 2006 Missoni.
Wow! The combination of chocolate with hazelnuts is a match made in heaven!
I love that Missoni! Very nostalgic for me.
Was running late this morning and dashed out of the house naked (you know what I mean), so my office supply of Bottega Profumiera
Gourmand will have to see me through today.
Lately I haven’t been able to get back to threads during the day; been missing you guys!
Happy Friday, all.
😉 Happy Friday. You will smell wonderful!
Thank you!!
Happy Friday FearsMice!
Hope yours was great, too!
Good thing you had a perfume stashed at work!
Amen!
Hello (waving a hand) FearsMice, will we see you @ Arielle’s today?
Ps- you can clearly see that I am also behind in today’s thread but wanted to circle back ‘round and read all this good stuff.
Helllooo there (way after the fact…)! I got my days mixed up :(.
I had it in my head that the event was today (Sunday), not Saturday. Hope you and all other friends had a great time!
Commando until after my physical therapy appointment this afternoon. Then probably Borneo 1834, which smells chocolatey/gourmandy/sweet to me. We are going to our first holiday part of the season tonight, so I must also remember to pick up some wine to take along.
Mom, Borneo is so good! Enjoy the party!
Ha! That should be “Mmmm”. I doubt you could be my mom, lol.
Borneo it’s one of my favorite SL’s and it is so so changed. The first time I smelled it I thought it smelled like the most luxurious caramel chocolate.
I’m in Vanille Insensee for the cp. I was wearing this once and my youngest sat down next to me and told me “mmm, you smell like a cookie.”? By far my most complimented scent.
Vanille Insensee = you and middle mini Marzipan in my mind ( and she is also in the process of becoming an RN!!)
Sotd is Dark horse.
It def has a baked goods vibe. Its yummy, i need to wear it more often
I really like this one, have you tried the oil? That’s all that seems to be available in a trial size on the Dame website.
I have the 10 ml perfume oil rollerball.
Its the only version Dame ships overseas (at least when i purchased it..2 years ago), probably because of alcohol restrictions.
I’m wearing Organza Indecence, as the vanilla-spice of it reminds me of a Christmas cookie.
YUM. I need to wear that in the coming week.
Wearing Profumum Roma Meringa today. Questionably a baked good scent, but I already wore Chabaud Lait de Biscuit this week.
Well you have to bake meringue, right?
I’m going all in with Kyse Perfume’s Douceur Brulee. I am awash in lemon, caramel, butter, coconut, and honey, among other things. I don’t just smell like a baked goodie – I smell like EVERY baked goodie.
Thank you for reminding me that I have a Kyse EDP and body butter at home that smells like a smores …. going to wear it tonight…. yummy Graham cracker note!!
Commando, as I’ve been for the past 2 days. No other reason than that I forgot to bring any perfume on my brief trip to Lille and the Westhoek in Belgium. I have just tried over a dozen scents on another wonderful visit to perfume heaven AKA Place Vendome in Wevelgem. I came back with lots of little goodies and an impromptu purchase of Vol de Nuit extrait that has left me a little shocked at my own audacity. I do love it though and I tend to get on so well with Guerlains, and it’s the only classic Guerlain that I didn’t have.
I haven’t got a clue what the cp is, but I’m sure you are all smelling wonderful!
Sounds like a lovely trip, and yay for the new bottle!
It was good. I’ve grown very fond of Lille and the Westhoek between Poperinge, Ieper and Menen is just lovely.
You will love Vol de Nuit. I got a vintage edt probably much like you got your extrait; just clicked on “buy now”: no regrets!
It seems to be the best way to get some things; no cerebral over-thinking like usually do!
Thanks! One of my most sucessfull buys ever was my purchase of Vamp à New York. I tried it, thought about it for about 10 seconds and got a bottle. That bottle is nearly empty now.
Congrats on all your new goodies!
And I only paid for Vol de Nuit!
I’m chuffed because I’ve got two small bottles of Carat, which is just the quantity I wanted of that particular fragrance. And a mini and a sample of Mon Guerlain and loads of other things.
Plus those travel sprays of Carat are awfully pretty…I think prettier than the bigger bottle.
Very dessert-y smelling in SL Un Bois Vanille. Noticing mostly vanilla + coconut. Might be time to start thinking about making my annual Christmas cookies!!
Here they are, along with the recipe. Best cookies EVER. Kind of labor-intensive, but worth it. Crumble in your mouth.

Hi five twin!
Yum!
Wow! My mom made a lemon walnut crumble cookie that I absolutely loved. I cannot think of the last time she made them.
Those look so good!
My grandmother made lemon cookies just like all her life but we never had the pecan pieces. It’s always nice to find a shared holiday memory. They look delicious! You made me smile.
I have no clue what the item in the photo represents, but it looks like some kind of chocolate-y goodness.
I just paid the piper (IRS) yesterday for some back taxes they said I owed from 2016. It hurt so bad to press “send” for the electronic payment, but I don’t want to go to jail….
Speaking of the US Government, I saw a bald eagle last evening down by the lagoons here. Ran into a nice couple who were birders/photographers and we talked about an hour. My gosh, she had some magazine cover worthy shots!!
I’m in Un Bois Vanille for another beautiful sunny and cool day here in the desert! Happy Friday to all✌?
I love that bald eagles are making such a good comeback! I have been lucky enough to see a few; they really are magnificent.
Me too. Apparently, they regularly visit the lagoons here, of which there are three, that were created way back when by digging irrigation canals off of and back onto the Verde River. Birds of all kinds, there must be thousands! Also great for human fisherman, too.
They sure are. I saw one in my thoroughly suburban workplace parking lot a few weeks ago!! It was VERY exciting.
I believe the photo represents what the French call a Buche de Noel, which is a Christmas cake shaped like a log (a soft sponge cake with cream layers which comes in different flavors, but most traditionally chocolate). It is a wonderful thing ?
I need to make its acquaintance, sooner rather than later! ?
Yes, exactly.
What a treat to see a bald eagle. I only sawone from a distance once and was thrilled.
Sorry about the back taxes, but cool about the eagle! How symbolic, lol.
Paying the government is not fun. Hopefully you can leave that feeling in the rearview though.
I’ve been lucky enough to see bald eagles out and about, too. The last one was perched on a fence post along I-25 in Wyoming.
Smell Bent Tea House, which smells like lemon cookies.
Which is what tea houses should smell like!
My mom’s surgery went well and she is home. She is feeling loads better. Thanks for the well wishes. Wearing SDV today. Just the teeniest dab though. It’s potent and I am going to work in an hour.
Great news!
I’ve been mostly absent this week but glad things went well for your mom.
Great holiday present!
Wishing your mother a prompt recovery, so glad everything went well.
So now you can both enjoy the holidays.
Glad she’s home and doing well! I hope she continues to improve. Must be a relief for you.
You smell good and yay for you mom
Sending good wishes for a continued and speedy recovery for your mom.
Wonderful news about your mom’s surgery!
Happy for your mom!
Lann-Ael again for another day of deliciousness
You smell wonderful! Love this scent, need to hunt down my decant.
I’m in Guerlain Iris Ganache, which means that I smell like white chocolate mousse cake. Much drool.
Iris Ganache is so very yummy
A well deserved day at home, wafting clouds of beloved Shalimar while catching up on laundry and watching my own version of Bette Davis vs Joan Crawford by viewing their hit movies. Bette’s winning, what an actress she was!
I don’t think of Shalimar as baked goods but that lemon/vanilla combo is delicious.
Ooh, what movies?
All About Eve, Jezebel, It’s Love I’m After (with Leslie Howard, a delightful comedy,) Marked Woman, The Old Maid, The Letter and several others. Bette has dominated my small screen! Joan really hasn’t had much of a chance as TCM hasn’t been streaming as many of her movies but I watched a few forgettable ones from the early 30s. Humoresque, though, was a different ball game. Just getting ready to watch The Women.
I never really think of Joan as ever having a chance against Bette.
Shalimar!!!!!!
You smell beautiful !
I thought the same thing about Joan vs. Bette. That Bette could act rings around Joan. That was until I saw two movies in which Joan was superb in: “Humoresque” and “Rain”. She was wonderful in these two movies. I haven’t seen a lot of Joan’s other pictures. I am working my way through them.
Bette was great in every picture she was in. I have seen most of her stuff.
I love the films of the 30s & 40s. Have fun today watching !!
I watched Humoresque Wednesday night and might watch it again tomorrow, what incredible music! And Joan was great. I need to look up Rain.
TGIF ?
Ganymede, compliments of the lovely Petunia. So ethereal. Def FB-worthy.
Yay! So glad you like it!
I don’t have many gourmands, but I’m as gourmand as I can tolerate in FM Dries van Noten for the burnt speculoos.
Feeling a little low and worried about my feral cat colony’s fate. The parking lot where they live has had some changes in the last few months- the auto body shop who occupied it and were very accommodating to our presence, and even gave me food donations, bankrupted and moved out. The lot has been unoccupied and locked since then, but I’ve been able to get in by sliding under one of the gates to maintain the colony. I just noticed yesterday that they have a new gate lying in the lot, waiting to go up (to replace the one I go under). Not sure if they were on to my stealth activity, or someone else is going to be using the lot, but it means I won’t be able to get in there anymore once they put up the new gate. This cat colony business has had a lot of heartbreak over the years ?
I can see why that would make you low. I am hoping that the new occupants will be interested in being humane to the colony and to your suggestions about cohabiting with them.
Yeah, it’s a bummer. It’s hard to go backwards once you’ve invested so much effort. Thank you and I hope for the same.
I’m hoping there is a positive solution somehow. How wonderful of you to be so caring for these animals for so long, wish I could be there to be of help.
Thank you, wish you could, too! We’ve had changes and moves along the way and they’ve worked out, and hoping this will work out somehow, but this is the 1st time I’ll have no access except sliding food under the gate, which is fine when the weather is ok. I have a storage container (with an entry hole) with a gravity feeder for backup food when it’s wet out or I can’t get there for some reason, but I won’t have access to fill it. Ugh.
Socso
Oh boy… fat fingers…
So sorry Elisa. I hope the new owners will be reasonable.
Oh I hope it works out for the colony, you’ve done so much for them. Stray ferals are so vulnerable 🙁 heartbreaking.
Me, too. Thank you- yeah, I have a soft spot for felines in general, and ferals. These guys are real survivors at 8+ years of outdoor city-living! A woman before me cared for them for 7 years until she had a stroke about a year and a half ago. She bought them expensive shelters to live in so I’m grateful they have those this time of year.
Hugs Elisa P.
Thanks Jalapeno ?- much needed.
Hope the new-gate-people will show compassion for these cats; G_d bless you for spending yourself on behalf of creatures that so many people would never even notice…
I hope the new owners are sympathetic and you can find a way to keep supporting your colony.
Pawing through samples this morning. Decided to try Hot Milk, which is quite peppery. I’m sure it won’t last long, so I’ll likely go for Gourmand Coquin again, which is all boozy chocolate on me.
Hot milk & chocolate sounds perfect!
Geisha Rouge for cloves and cinnamon and other holiday goodies. Finished my Christmas shopping this morning and will spend the afternoon wrapping and baking. My 93 year old mom came home from the hospital yesterday. She’s still not strong, but I really didn’t think she would ever leave the hospital. Although she fought going into assisted living two years ago with every passion, she was homesick for her friends and the staff and is ecstatic to be back.
Great news! And fingers crossed for your mom’s future health, one baby step at a time.
Excellent news about your mom!
Aww, glad she misses it! That’s a good sign and happy she’s finally out of the hospital!
That’s wonderful news! I know that must set your mind at ease.
So happy for your mom!
Sort of participating in Nirmala which is in fact a tropical fruit salad much more than baked goods although the drydown is gourmand with a lot of tonka (+sandalwood and cedar).
That’s a great way to describe Nirmala; hope you enjoyed its sunny vibe!
Thank you Fearsmice, sunny is a very good description too.
Went with Serge Lutens Five o’Clock au Gingembre. Getting a good amount of spiciness from it.
Did you wear this earlier in the week? It inspired me to wear this today too…
It’s the first time I’ve tried it. A number of other commenters have mentioned wearing it earlier this week.
Oh, you smell wonderful!
Thanks! I thought so. 🙂
I’m incredibly literal in my interpretation today with 4160 Tuesday’s Captured by Candlelight!
CbyC is one of my fav-o-rites! You smell fantastic.
I am having some sinus/allergy issues today so just a few dabs of Hove Rue Royale is my SOTD.
Hope your sinus issues have receded over the course of the day. (I did not in fact get Rue Royale from my sister, as I had thought earlier, but Jardin de Louis instead, along with Carnation.) I do believe you were smelling elegant in the RR!
As a new appreciator of perfumes relating to baked goods and sweets, I can only sometimes muster enthusiasm. Not today. Going more for burnt goods in the ever reliable Bois d’Ascese.
Off topic men are from Mars story: My husband was at some work-related event last night, and brought home a huge, dripping with rain, wreath, festooned with giant Christmas tree decorations and Christmas ribbons. He wanted to put it on the front door. I suggested the upstairs playroom closet… anyway, the woman who takes care of our cats came by this morning. She said, “I love your ‘ugly Christmas sweater’ wreath on your front door! You guys have such a great sense of humor.” I kid you not. I called my husband and told him, and he laughed and laughed. I have a feeling that monstrosity is on our door for the duration!
Thanks for today’s smile! ?
I was at an event last weekend where they were selling swags and one was done with a cowboy boot – I was very tempted, but my daughter was mortified. If your wreath is artificial, you might have it for the next 10 christmases! 🙂
I don’t know, the campy charm of cowboy boot swags is in another class from that gawdawful thing on our door. The wreath is not artificial, so I suppose there is that!
This truly made me lol 🙂
LOL! ?
Yah yah… laugh it up.
Haha! And thanks for using the word “festoon” ?
Maybe you could arrange to have it “stolen” right off your door??!!
I’m wearing Mousse du Cafe by Maison des Reves. Notes are coffee cream, milk, heliotrope, caramel, coconut, vanilla, and sandalwood. It’s very nice, and not too sweet.
Bertie Wooster had his ultrasound yesterday. The short version is that he either has lymphoma and will die in 3-6 weeks or he has IBS and can be managed on a diet change and some medication. He isn’t acting like he’s deathly ill so I’m choosing to believe he has IBS. He ate like a pig this morning and is batting at a paper scrap on the floor.
Oh, I’m hoping it’s the latter of the two and diet and medication will help. Sending a big hug and positive thoughts and energies your way.
He sounds pretty happy, hope it’s the manageable outcome.
Sending out good thoughts for Bertie! It sounds like he won the paper fight.?
Sending healing vibes to Bertie Wooster. I hope is just IBS and the treatment makes him feel much better!
Aw, poor Bertie! If he does have IBS, it will take some time for his new food and the meds to have an effect. One of my friends had a cat with it. Hoping for the best!
Adding my well-wish for Bertie! Are they doing a biopsy?
Best wishes for Bertie Wooster!
For what it’s worth, one of our cats was diagnosed with lymphoma 4 years ago and was given 6 months to a year. About 18 months later he was declared in remission. Hoping for good things for Bertie Wooster.
Pulling hard for Bertie; may he be indomitable!
Thanks everyone for your good wishes! I’ll just love him as long as I have him.
Fingers crossed for BW.
Hoping it’s IBS and treatable so he can stay with you longer!
I have been rummaging through my mother’s bathroom drawers, exploring her collection of perfumes from the 80s, charity shop finds etc. Crabtree and Evelyn extract of sandalwood, byzance, ysatis, safari, amarige, oscar de la renta…. Decisions, decisions…. Opium wins (the old bottle that is squat and ‘lacquered’ in plastic with a round peep hole. Off to the op shops to hunt for more perfume gold
Wow those are some great treasures you’re uncovering, happy hunting.
You have some wonderful frags there! Enjoy!
Vintage Opium always wins.
That Crabtree & Evelyn is my holy grail! I’m so happy for you! Enjoy your goodies!
I love Byzance.
Yesterday I stopped at Barnes & Noble to pick up a few Christmas presents and, while I was browsing, the most delicious bitter dark chocolate (my favorite) scent subtly perfumed the air – it was enticing but not overwhelming. After I made my purchases I went to their cafe for a coffee and a brief rest before continuing the day’s errands. I laughingly asked the barista if she was the one who had spritzed the air with chocolate, and she said she’d just put a batch of chocolate chip cookies in the oven. They came out while I was waiting for my drink and, wow! How did I resist their appeal? But I did, since I hadn’t had lunch yet nor much to eat in the a.m. due to a yoga class first thing – I confess, however, I did indulge in a white chocolate mocha!
And, so for today’s SOTD/CP project, and to keep yesterday’s scent memory alive, I’m enjoying the delicious bitter dark chocolate of Dame Perfumery Chocolate Man. Yum! – I love this one.
I’ve been enjoying the mild weather we’ve had late this week and am on my way out for a few more Christmas errands and grocery shopping. Maybe I’ll pick up the fixings and bake some dark chocolate chip cookies this weekend . . .
Wishing everyone a good weekend ahead and better health to those of you with family members – human or fur babies – who are going through tough times this week.
Laila for a minute I thought you were going to tell us about some marvelous new chocolate perfume!
Did you see that news footage of the bald eagle caught by an octopus at a Canadian fish farm yesterday? Must be every eagle mother’s nightmare… How many times have I told you to be careful and stay away from octopus!!!??? Maybe you’ll listen now…
That was for Deva
And I see you’ve inherited my stutter ??
I told you it was contagious!
Lol ?
Thanks for the tip. That footage is incredible. The octopus is amazing looking. I don’t think I knew there were bright red octopuses.
It looks as though the eagle tried to take down the octopus originally.
Here in Florida we saw a hawk pick up a white Ibis; it was a bit unpleasant to watch first hand.
I read about that octopus/bald eagle story last night!
SOTD = Guerlain Spiritueuse Double Vanille
I mentioned that I’ll be wearing a NSFW perfume to work (yeah, I’m a rebel) and this is it. It is very boozy and I am making sure I’m not in a tight space full of people because it would smell like I had downed a few cocktails!
https://www.instagram.com/p/B6BlEnDBDsr/?igshid=10r6bk3593d7z
I had a chance to see the Rockefeller Center tree and while it is gorgeous, it seems like it keeps getting smaller and smaller! Also, I don’t recall how it was last year but the toy soldiers around the perimeter are nowhere!
That is an adorable travel spray!
It is and it is refillable!
I imagine you conduct yourself with far too much dignity to ever be suspected of drinking on the job… but you sure smelled good.
You give me too much credit ?. The corporate dining room used to offer alcohol at lunch but I haven’t been in a long while bit I imagine that is probably no longer the practice.
DSH Piment et Chocolat. Christmas gift to myself this year during Dawn’s sale as I am embarking on a year-long no buy in January (multiple categories, sadly including perfume). I went through all of my DSH samples again and this one fit the season.
I am trying to decide what to get from DSH!
Angel Muse. I wanted to be on topic, but I should have gone with what my hand reached for (Flashback) – Angel feels a bit too in your face today.
I’ve done that, too… worn a perfume for the CP when I’ve wanted to wear something else.
Wearing CARNAL FLOWER, which smells buttery to me.
And smells great in any case 🙂
Ariana Grande Cloud, which smells like vanilla marshmallow to me.
As it should!
On the road (headed to Germany for three weeks of Christmas!) so I have a limited array of scents to choose from, or I would have worn Jeux de Peau, the ultimate baked-goods scent. I have to be content with something food-based but not bakery: Lush Ectoplasm, startlingly brilliant, almost fluorescent tangerine and grapefruit.
Are you traveling all over Germany or chillaxing in one spot?
Testing White Queen and Rhubarb and Custard.
Survey says?
Rhubarb and Custard ?
SOTD = Chopard Casmir, which is one of the few perfumes that I have ever purchased a back up bottle of. A gorgeous vanilla that reminds me of making sugar cookies at Christmastime as a kid.
It does! Smelling great today!
Thank you Petunia!
You smell yummy!
Thanks! ?
Ah, Casmir will always have a piece of my heart. You smell… luscious!
Super busy day at work. SOTD was Felanilla. Not really baked goods but it does have vanilla with a banana leaf note. Now to read the comments.
So many baked goods do have vanilla in them, though. I’d say Felanilla totally counts.
I must wear this again soon
My very sweet niece just brought over some home-made shortbread cookies! They were great, and were a pretty star shape decorated with gold sugar sprinkles! Yesterday she made a yummy dessert with marshmallow, butterscotch chips and Captain Crunch cereal; she said it was a test batch for Christmas! Her Mom is coming down late next week so I think she wanted to get some baking done beforehand.
Maybe I need some of Jalapeno’s Casmir to match the cookies I just ate.
Those shortbread cookies sound great! Casmir is an old perfume friend of mine. I’d forgotten how good it is for cold and rainy weather.
That’s so cute! It’s always a good idea to do a trial run with new recipes, especially around the holidays. ?
Dulcis in Fundo today. I really like this; it dries down more vanilla than orange, but it need some spice somehow. It gets lots of love here, so I’m very grateful for the sample and am glad to finally have the chance to try it. ?
Sotd = Vanille Galante
Yum, yum, yum! everyone smells delicious today. Looking forward to reading everyone’s choices. I adore perfume that smells dessert-adjacent without going into cupcake territory.
I chose VG because it reminds me of a slightly boozy vanilla scented French gateau. I enjoyed it all day with frequent top ups from an almost empty travel spray. It feels good to know a backup bottle is hiding around here somewhere.
Love the photo up top today. That is a gorgeous cake. Years ago I made buche de Noel each December, complete with meringue mushrooms and almond paste decorations. I used Rose Levy Beranbaum’s recipes from her Cake Bible as a starting point. Every year it was a little different, but always lots of chocolate. These days I don’t have enough of an eating audience to justify all that sugar. 😀
Nothing beats the reassurance of a BUB for a beloved scent. 🙂
The Cake Bible is The Business; I haven’t baked in ages, but back when I did, I always relied on RLB for sound advice. I actually didn’t recognize today’s picture as a Buche de Noel (because of the shiny glaze) until adanst smartly pointed it out. It does look awfully good.
RLB is my baking guru. 😀
Wow, the annual buche de Noel is impressive! I do one the easy way: I have a Nordicware cake mold shaped like one. Pour the batter in the mold, bake it, flip the cake out, and voila! Buche de Noel! My sister used to make the real thing from scratch, with the mushrooms and all — so beautiful, but so time-consuming.
ha! yes, buche de noel is a three day project at best. 😀
So tardy! In my defense, my school finished final exams yesterday — hurray! But it was busy right to the end of the day. I wore JD Vanille Farfelue for the CP. Such a fun scent!
