It's Tuesday and National Cake Day, and it's still morning but I'm already behind. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Kenzo Air, which I came across while looking for something else.
Reminder: on 11/29, pick your Black Friday poison...wear the last fragrance you bought, wear a cheap thrill, or wear a fragrance you love but refuse to buy in a full size because it's too expensive.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2019, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: top image is detail from Kenzo's Fall Winter 2019 campaign.
I’m wearing Mitsouko edt. This is the first time I ever bought a backup bottle.
Believe it or not, I once found and bought a back-up bottle at the TJ Maxx store! that was years ago and there’s no longer anything good in amongst the dreck.
Jardins d’Ecrivains Wilde. I sniffed a sample in a rolling box once and knew I had to have it. Generally, this is one I would save for summer wear, but today it just called to me.
I have still never tried that one! I’m in a summer scent too though.
I woke up in Lyric and did a little cleaning before I have to go to work today after 9 days off. My family is hosting Thanksgiving this year and 3 people are spending the night. Been fighting with a seller on Ebay because the collectors music box isn’t working right and they are saying that it’s works right for a toy. But they accepted the return but they have until tomorrow for a return label. I did bite the bullet and order a 10ml decant of the edp version of Coromandel. The seller sent me pictures of the receipt. The price was pretty reasonable for 10ml. Going into work with a little bit of no 19 edp today. I need all the backbone I can get.
I am hosting this year, but a smaller than usual gathering. Hope yours goes well!
Hi friends, I smell great in the dregs of the little decant of Mohur that I gave my mother that she…never used >.> So I don’t fit the CP at all.
Or maybe I do? I’m taking a break from work to indulge in some early Black Friday sales–I know, I know, something something rampant consumerism. I got three pairs of very pretty leggings with pockets (I live in CA, so the culture of leggings-as-pants has seeped into me), the prettiest little Georganic face cream (on sale at Costco, which is also having a -$35 for purchase of 3 perfumes sale), some face washes at Korres (40% off sale!), and some fantastically expensive Aveda haircare products for my mother (20% off sale!). Now that I’ve spent a bunch of money for things that are more or less essentials (does Aveda count as an essential? it’s a present, and giving is essential, right?), I’m questioning the financial reasonability of placing a SSS order of >$125 (to avoid shipping costs). Ehhhhhh. I do love SSS and want more of their perfumes, but do I need them? Of course I don’t.
I know, I’d like to order some SSS too but I don’t need anything, and the $125 free shipping threshhold is stopping me, which is probably a good thing.
Heh. I was hoping that for Black Friday, she might lower the free shipping threshold to like $75 or something (I think the order I wanted to place was ~$95). Still holding out hope.
I’m surprised to see you say such a thing! You were my shining beacon of joyful capitalism! You’ve always expressed such pleasure in beautiful new acquisitions, and have seemed to scorn the shame many of us feel in buying too much. Is this a recent change in your outlook that I missed?
I do not have a minimalist bone in my body and have always loved excess. But I’m trying (mostly in vain) to be more circumspect about my purchases. Ha!
I get it. All of it. Get it and enjoy, life is short.
I very much like that outlook 🙂 I may yet. Maybe it will be a Christmas present-to-self.
What springpansy said.☺️
🙂 Excellent guiding philosophy!
Finding cute leggings that fit well is a worthy pursuit, IMO. Even better if you get a bit of a deal on them!
Koyel, as a Cali girl I wear leggings every day. If Vera wang could build a multi billion dollar enterprise while only wearing black leggings, I’m just fine.
I love this 🙂
Fragrance combining-
Jo Malone Blackberry and Bay with Vintage Gardenia. My freebiemeet ?
Waving hi!! You smell lovely.
Wondered where you’d disappeared to…
Hi! Nice to see you!
Cm8! Yes! I was thinking of you yesterday while I was raking leaves. Hope you are well ?
Good to see you back here!
HI, EVERYONE!!!!!
Hello there CM8! I saw an old KIX video on MTV recently, and thought of you.
Waves hand! Happy Thanksgiving!
That photo gives me a happy headache, lol!
In BR today, no surprises here. I’m about to thunk my decant.
I’m working Thanksgiving, no surprise there, either. What IS surprising is that this hospital corporation doesn’t even give employees free holiday lunch/dinner. I don’t think I’ve EVER worked on a national holiday like Thanksgiving or Christmas and NOT had the hospital offer a free meal. Just one more reason not to work within this particular healthcare system again. We won’t talk about other issues.
Anywho, busy day today, but I shall sail through it smelling fine! Hope people are paying attention to the weather forecast if they are traveling this weekend…I may delay my departure until Monday because it looks bad. ❄️???
I am working Thanksgiving too. Granted I work retail, it still sucks.
I don’t mind working holidays really. I don’t have anywhere else to be and I get double time. What kills me is how cheap employers are and how little they value their workers. Almost every day I’ve gotten texts because they are short staffed, because they CAN’T KEEP staff, and travelers don’t want to come back. They have a lovely tinkling piano in the lobby, though! Lol
I get time and a half but I would rather be at home.
As would most people, I think. Retail is no fun. I did for a few years when I was younger. I don’t think there is any GOOD reason for retailers to be open on the holidays, though. If I ran the world (haha?), all retail employees would have Thanksgiving off in order to prepare for the onslaught that is Black Friday.
I worked many a holiday in my time and NEVER got a free meal. Patients used to send snack baskets and fruitcakes over Christmas, though, so at least they were appreciative.
Yep, it’s the patients who are almost always gracious and kind. Mostly farm folks up here and they are some of the nicest, most courteous, and grateful patients I’ve ever cared for.
I HATE those pianos in hospitals… Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford has one playing (no pianist needed–self-playing) outside the cafeteria—weird mall vibe while trying to digest scary information and getting through my son’s surgery. Blech.
I love the pianos in hospitals. I feel better every time I see someone playing them (well). Often the player is surrounded by a small group of admiring listeners. They remind me of how much joy and music there is in the world, which I need pretty much every time I’m in a hospital, and of how music can bring groups of people together.
Lucky you. I got only my working hours on weekends and holidays and 1€ extra per hour at the university clinic in Germany. And overtime was often not even payed at all for us MDs. Thankfully i work in a private practice now and usually have my weekends free.
There are benefits to being an hourly employee. I learned a long time ago I’m not suited for salaried positions. I have zero interest in a management positions or really anything other than taking care of patients face to face. When I clock out, I’m done. No call positions either, which is why I’ve steered away from OR, and facilities that have mandatory overtime. I like a very clean, neat boundary between work life and personal life. And, yes, I am lucky in many respects.
But, I’m a power to the people kind of person, and have seen first hand how management and medical corporations care mainly about the bottom line. Sad, but true. Workers ALWAYS need to stick together and demand better working conditions, no matter the job, or the powers that be will feed them to the machine that is the US health care system.
The photo is giving me a headache because it is supposed to be a TEAPOT because it is TUESDAY.
I have too much going on and I am frazzled.
That is crazy they won’t give you a nice dinner. Hope the weather lets you get out of there soon!
I hope things get less frazzled soon, Robin.
Oh, that’s right! I would certainly put that at the very bottom of your list of concerns…?
The photo has water, that could be used for making tea, so I think you’re good?
Hope you can rest soon.
Excellent reasoning! I had never even noticed that Tuesday always featured teapots.
It’s really the only way I know what day it is!
I feel incredibly stupid for not having noticed the pattern before. Especially since I love tea and teapots.
Well, sometimes it is something else tea related, but usually it’s a pot, and it’s usually the only day I remember to report what tea I’m drinking.
But also this is not the first time I’ve forgotten 🙂
Ah, good point lillyjo!
It took me about a year before I figured out the Teapot for Tuesday pattern.
I didn’t get it until Robin wrote something like “It’s Teapot Tuesday again!” So…more than a year 🙂
?
I saw Robin mention “Teapot Tuesday” somewhere along the line and made the association. I tend to like the more classic sorts, although Robin’s put up some pictures of clever non-traditional teapots, too. I appreciate the pretty and/or thought-provoking pictures Robin finds for us to enjoy. 🙂
Me too! Although, to be really honest, it might have been longer for me. The SHAME! My excuse is I’m not really a tea drinker, so I never think of tea when I see a pretty teapot. I just think “Oh, how PRETTY!” I think I might be experiencing some cognitive decline…I may need to up my B12 game to twice monthly injections instead of once a month! ?
Ha, you and me both.
I’m sorry you’re frazzled! If it helps, we appreciate any picture you put up there, even if it doesn’t match with your usual weekly pattern. Perhaps you could put up TWO TEAPOTS next Tuesday to make up for this week’s dearth of teapots.
Thank you Koyel!
No free meal on thanksgiving!? That’s crazy.
The first and last time I bought a meal in this cafeteria, I got a quarter sized dried up chicken breast, 2 limp branches of broccoli, and an iced tea. Had to shell out $8 for that lovely meal. ??
First world problems, I know. And it’s not just nurses that get treated so shabbily- housekeeping, maintenance workers, everyone apparently. This hospital system has a reputation, even withIn the wider community, but I didn’t know about that before I signed on the dotted line…? Live and learn.
Ugh. Well, I hope your next contract is better! At least you know the weather should be better where you are headed!?
Well, it’s all good. And I’ve noticed, that in general, medical employers aside, every business seems to be trying to get by with skeletal staffing. I’ve really noticed it more here than other places, so I’m not sure if there is just a work pool shortage in this area, or if companies are trying to up the bottom line by decreasing staff/service. For example, WHY does the local Panera only have ONE person taking orders at the height of lunchtime? EVERY DAY! The line is out the door, there’s five registers, but I’ve only EVER seen one person, no matter the time of day..?! Surely, someone would appreciate a job like that! I’d do it in a flash if I weren’t a nurse.
To answer your Panera question, they are trying to steer people to using the kiosks, but still crazy for alienating people (like me) who can’t really used kiosks dur to its inability to customize. My middle name is Sally ?
Hi Sally, nice to meet you! Lol. Well, they certainly have alienated me. The wait was so annoying, I stopped going there. There is a perfectly good salad place right down the street, plus T-Rex always gets a free Pup Cup there. Take THAT, Panera! ?
Dressing on the side and allergic to parsley, are we?
That is crappy ? And cheap! Though I don’t remember getting free meals either at previous hospitals I worked for. Mostly the nurses made their own potlucks which were better than cafeteria food anyway.
My current place does give free meals for holidays and a voucher for your birthday! Come work for us ?
I hope your next gig is a better experience.
Best of luck at your next gig & safe travels! I’m working Thanksgiving too & my facility offers a free meal during a 3 hour window (that I never manage to hit–but that’s on me). We’re terribly short staffed too & I am so grateful to the travelers we have. Thank you for what you do!
Safe travels and a speedy end to your Dakota adventure. I’m looking forward to seeing your Arizona photos. I spent 6 months in Phoenix, ages ago. I loved the desert landscapes.
Happy trails and safe travels to you Deva! Staying put until Monday might be for the best. That storm really walloped Colorado, and I don’t think that it’s snowed itself out.
I’m wearing Dear Polly, which is tangentially related to the CP because I certainly would never have bought it in full size if I hadn’t come across a whopping discount. It’s a favorite though and I’m so glad I did. We’re all gearing up for a snowstorm in Minneapolis… I am counting my vacation days to see if I can afford to stay home and snuggle my cat tomorrow.
Fingers crossed that you stay home!
It’s not looking good. Hope you’re able to stay home with kitty cat. ?
I hope you can! I cherish my days home with Larry the cat and when it’s snowing it’s even better.
You smell great! I’m keeping an eye on that storm too since I will be driving right towards it tomorrow. Hope you get to stay home!
I hope that kitty snuggles are on your schedule tomorrow. ?
Started the day in Bas de Soie, then popped into the Lush store for a spritz of Karma (and Sun and What would love do!). I like Karma best, but will probably not buy it.
Am fuming and vexed, having to deal with tax matters.
Taxes are extremely vexing indeed.
I really feel that ANY government should send a note of thanks to each and every taxpayer. Where I live, a small portion of the middle class pays the majority of taxes. The rich have their lawyers and tax consultants, or flat out do not pay – we often see in the newspapers that so and so celebrity has entered into a “confidential agreement” with the revenue service to pay back taxes, and the poor sadly has a culture of dependency. Yet, I’d rate any interaction regarding taxes as the most unpleasant experience of my year, each and every year. I hate the dentist, but I’d rather go to the dentist than submit even one piece of documentation twice. It is just such a disrespectful WASTE of my time.
I totally agree. My husband spends many hours preparing our taxes every year, and because we claim the foreign tax credit in Canada, we get audited every year, which basically means we have to do it twice. The burden of effort and expense on the average middle class taxpayer is unacceptable and unjust.
Uh oh, good luck.?
Wearing the last drops of Donna Karan Cashmere Mist. Full bottle THUNK! I had that bottle for 10+ years and I enjoyed a lot then. It ended up in the back of the perfume cabinet, as a very forgotten friend. It was nice revisiting and finding out that I still like it, but not enough to replace it.
Congrats on your super sized thunk!
Thanks! It was time! ?
Whew! I’m wondering if I will ever go through a full bottle again. Your thunk is a bigger milestone than my travel spray, for sure.
Same here! Been a long time since I managed to drain a bottle.
That was a favorite of my beloved granny’s, so of course I think you smell lovely!?
Thank you, Madtowngirl! Your granny smelled fantastic! It is a very pretty perfume. I enjoyed every time I wore it!
That’s a heavy bottle, I bet that thunk was loud?
Lillyjo, this morning when I threw the bottle in the garbage I was rushing for work, so I did not pay attention to the
thunk sound at that moment. 5 seconds later I realized that I have not heard the loud noise, so I went back to the trash can, took the bottle out and dumped it again there. There was no way I could thunk such a big bottle without the pleasure of hearing that it was finally gone! 😀 😀
? haha this makes my day!
When you thunk…it needs to THUNK
? Believe me! Finishing a 100ml bottle is the biggest achievement ever. That THUNK has, needs, must be clearly heard!!! ?
The THUNK heard around the world!?
??
I think one should always honour one’s inner child ?
No doubts about it! ??
House twins.
Hi twin! You smell great in Wenge!
Congratulations! That was a great thunk!
Thank you! It was!
YAY for that thunk! It was a long time coming!
?
Saffran Troublant from a swapmeet decant circa 2017, I believe. Nice for this blustery, mild weather we’re having here.
Yep, you smell great Nancyleandros!
Our weather is strange today and indeed kind of sinister, isn’t it?
Yes! Still and then super blustery.
Thunked my travel spray of Cedre Atlas.
Thumbs up for a thunk!
Every thunk counts, no matter the amount!
MFK Grand Soir for the last sunny morning before a huge rainstorm rolls in tonight. It’s going to be a wet Thanksgiving, fortunately I’m only traveling a couple of miles to SIL’s house.
You smell SUPERBE!!
Grand Soir is stunning!
I am trying to wear now full bottles and decants that are less than 50% before they evaporate. Not sure how much I will finish before the year ends, but I am trying my best.
Your travel spray thunk is an achievement, like everything else we struggle to finish these days.
This was my answer for Dorsey.
Wearing Bulgari Omnia Crystalline of all things. I usually wear this just in the summer but the sun is shining and it feels warmer so why not, it smells good. I’ll need to put something else on soon though as it doesn’t last long.
It’s about time we midwesterners got some sun! Sunny here too!?
Happy National Cake Day. Wearing my last drop of Guerlain SDV for boozy vanilla deliciousness from a decant from a most lovely and generous NST poster.
Boozy deliciousness is right, you smell great!
National Cake Day!!! I must get to a bakery and celebrate! Wearing Ineke’s Idyllwild, which is the last full bottle purchased and I love it. Has anyone tried her very newly released chai-scented fragrance? If so, please report back.
I am hosting Thanksgiving, so cleaning today and some major food prep tomorrow. Not a large number, but a turkey is a turkey and all of those sides!!! Yikes!
Stay safe all you travelers in the west/northwest–looks like some crazy weather headed in.
I will be your cleaning twin today.
SotD is LADDM. Just a dab to each wrist does it for me.
Enjoying an unexpected day off. I love it when this happens. I was able to get in to see my hairdresser for a walk in appointment this morning for a much needed haircut. I haven’t had one since June!? I seem to be able to go for weeks and months and don’t feel like I need one and then- boom- I need one Now! I have some style back. If my hairdresser could do my hair everyday I would look so good, lol.
Then I made a stop at Ulta and got two Urban Decay lipsticks that actually seem like they work for me. What looks good on the hand does not always look good on the face. These are the first I’ve tried from this brand and they seem very creamy and are reasonably priced imho.
I like the Urban Decay lipsticks, I find them non drying and they last. I’m under a high wind advisory for tomorrow, is it windy there?
Have a great day off!
We have that wind advisory tomorrow too, which stinks because I have to drive and get my college age kids. I don’t take the interstate though so I guess if it’s really bad, I’ll just go slow.
Be safe!
Thanks!
Also a fan of UD lipsticks. I love their color range — it has inspired me to be just slightly more edgy than my usual middle-aged self. And I do love that they have a range of finishes, not just the super matte ones that generally do not work for me.
Yes! I like that too, I bought one “sheer” and one cream for more coverage. Mattes don’t work for me either.
Which shade did you get in the sheer?
I like their eyeliners, too. I have a sort of hazel green one that I love.
That sounds really pretty. My daughter has several of their eyeshadow palettes.
UD is a fantastic makeup line. I’m about to finish one of the lipsticks I recently bought, and I hardly ever finish a lipstick! Takes years! They stopped making a gloss I really liked, bummer.
I really like the two that I bought! I will have to spend more time exploring the line with my college daughter when she is home, she knows so much more about makeup than I do. It is a bummer when a shade you love is discontinued. Way way back in the day (before it was owned by EL) I loved Aveda lipsticks. Of course none of those shades are available anymore.☹️
Since June! Wow! I tell my hairdresser to chop off hair and it does get short enough that I could not tuck it behind my ears. A scant 3 weeks later, it gets long enough for me to start thinking about my next cut! My hair grows extremely fast.
Hurray for getting that long overdue haircut!
Cap Neroli for me today.
Lovely!
Tuesday is sponsored by Puredistance GOLD. My review is coming in the following days.
Woo hoo! Can’t wait. I heard it’s very good!
Today is my Friday, working my fifth night in a row. Right now, I’m wearing Rose &Cuir, but I’m not liking it at all right now. I’m getting a strange plastic note. I might have to put Angel on later to overpower it.
A study was done on the most dangerous state for winter driving, guess who won? Yep, Michigan! My only prize is vindication that I haven’t been imagining it all this time ? runner ups are Pennsylvania and New York.
Did you speak with your boss about the straight run of night shifts?
I’m glad that my state isn’t in the top three for that honor.
I did speak to her, and she flipped out on me, she turned it around, accused me of making her job harder. It was a disaster. I’m on the naughty list now?
That’s crazy. She sounds like she needs a vacation stat! You should be able to talk about this without offense.
That’s troubling and menacing behavior! Believe it or not, I heard these terms today (not about me ? ) and vowed to use it in a sentence ?
I tried Rose & Cuir also, and I found the scent extremely unpleasant. I wonder how my state did for winter driving. I remember a fantastic snow at night one time, and I went to an empty parking lot and did doughnuts. ?
LOL, that sounds like fun!
? it was!
I didn’t like Rose & Cuir either, I got a vegetal tomato leaf smell and some very faint leather, then nothing.
Not surprised that PA was one of the top 3 states for bad winter driving. Nice to know that I wasn’t imagining it when I worked over in Philly. ?
And I would have thought New Jersey would have been up there on that list! New Jersey is a small state, though, and they’re relatively good for keeping the highways clear of snow. My brother and I ended up driving on the NJ Turnpike and Garden State Parkway in the Blizzard of ’96. We should have just stayed over at his friend’s house, but he was anxious to get home. Instead we ended up crashing at Nana’s house for a few days. That was more of an adventure than I had really wanted.
But you definitely weren’t imagining it when it comes to Pennsylvania. I’ll back you up on that. Plus sometimes the snow covers up the potholes, and it all looks innocent.
Philly streets are their own driving ecosystem. I’m pretty sure that suburbs are much better than the city. But I have had the experience of hitting a snow hidden pothole before, and it is NOT pleasant. I consider myself lucky that I never had a bent rim from that.
SOTD = Papillon Bengale Rouge
Twinsies with Deva. No new picture of the bottle so I decided to post one of the Macy’s Believe sign and turkey. Lots of people started their holidays already and the office is pretty empty. I am working from home tomorrow since it will be a short day anyway and I don’t want to deal with the inevitable crowds at the train station.
https://www.instagram.com/p/B5VkwDkB-jn/?igshid=1meembqz5m5vz
And National Cake Day? I can get with the program ?.
You smell fabulous!
Wow, we sure don’t have anything like that giant turkey around here.
New York, what else can I say ??♀️
You smell great!
My husband thought BR smelled ‘christmassy’… It also reminded him of cookies.
The drydown does remind me of cookies!
You smell fantastic, and love the photo!
Thank you!
That snapshot made me smile! Thanks for posting it.
I’m wearing Memo Marfa from my sample set, and still loving it. Retirement is nice but I can see where projects expand to fill (a lot of) available time. I’ve spent a ridiculous amount of energy on writing, editing, and rewriting a little list of my “Five Best Books of the Decade” for a blog posting next month. The problem is my max is 250 words and it’s surprisingly hard to convey the real flavour and texture of a great book within that limit. All I come up with are plot summaries and that seems just wrong. Still struggling away with it. Oh well, I’ve vowed to finish it today. Then some last-minute grocery shopping for, among other things, green beans, ha ha! Gotta make the traditional casserole. I’ve already got my French’s onion rings (and been munching on them from the can)!
That’s the downside of making the French’s onion casserole… those onion rings are too tempting as a snack.
Oh, I want to know the books!
Byredo Blanche for a day of thrift store shopping with my mom. Dinner out with the whole family later at Spaghetti Warehouse. I used to love going there in high school. Am curious how I’ll feel about it now. Hopefully it’s still good!
Thrift shopping with your mom sounds wonderful! I used to do this with my mom and we both loved it, especially when we made a good find. Sadly, she can no longer do it. Please treasure your time together–not that you wouldn’t have without my say-so!
I will do my best. She tends to drive me crazy, but I am enjoying my visit so far. I’m sorry you can’t thrift shop with your mom anymore. It sounds like you two had a lot of fun doing it.
I hope that you enjoyed your dinner tonight!
It’s fairly warm here today so I went with Violette Sacree. It’s a fairly recent purchase but by no means the most recent.
Petunia: I texted with my brother this afternoon about the snow, and he told me he figured he had about 12 inches. One place up in the mountains had 32 inches of snow from this storm!
So glad that I’m not there! Although, I’m sure it’s very beautiful.
Enjoy your dinner out.
This was for Rabbitsflower.
Thanks, Aurora!
In Donna Karan Wenge, which I have been wearing a lot at night this past week. It’s supposed to smell like the drydown of Black Cashmere but it rather reminds a bit of Parfum Sacre.
I’ve never heard of this DK. Sounds like a comfort scent?
It was part of her Essence line. Yes, very cosy, woody, vanilla, doesn’t project very much but lasts, I can still smell it in the morning.
I only have a tiny bottle of the oil, but I like it a lot. Wish I had bought the edp spray.
I didn’t know there was an oil, enjoy it. Yes, that essence series disappeared rather quickly.
This year, for the first time, I have noticed advertising around town for Black Friday sales. It doesn’t really make sense. Wearing old Nahema. My neighbour has a stunted rose growing out of the lawn ( would have been a rose bed when it was planted but has since overgrown) that has two magenta coloured blooms that are incredibly fragrant and smell like old spice/nahema.
I hope everyone keeps safe and warm over the next few days. Happy cake day! See, why have we introduced Black Friday sales but not Cake Day…what is wrong with the world.
Your neighbor’s stunted rose blooms sound wonderful! I miss smelling the old, heavily scented ones I remember from childhood. All the landscape roses I come across now have no perfume at all to them.
So then I wonder how many years until you also get Buy Nothing Day??? Seems sure to follow eventually.
We recently discussed on NST about rugosa roses having a clove fragrance, and cultivars closer to the species are very hardy. Got to make my guess. 🙂
Jalapeno, you can come visit me in late May for heavily-scented roses. The company Kordes was doing tall landscape roses for a while without being concerned about whether the roses had a scent. Then Knock-Out roses took over, and I’ve never smelled rose scent from any of those varieties. If they’ve developed a fragrant sort of Knock-Out rose, I haven’t heard of it. When I was little, Dad grew fragrant Hybrid Tea roses, but they haven’t done well for me. The Albas and Damask roses are very hardy, though.
SotD is Iris Nazarena
Almost a cheap thrill.
Its actually crazy expensive, but I managed to get my hands on a FB for 100 euro this year. So humm yeah that is a cheap thrill…..compared to the original price ?
At Skins?
Yes.
I dont know why they got rid of everything Aedes.
Its not like they wanted to stop selling expensive fragrances ?….they still sell Vilhelm and Widian
I got my Œillet Bengale there so I know. It does seem like an odd move. Not that I’m complaining.
I’ve only tried one Vilhelm and enjoyed it but not for that amount of money.
Wow, 100 euro? Why didn’t I knew that ?
I had my eye on Iris Nazarena since last year, but is too expensive.
I just looked and Widian is 230 euro, do you say they have sales? I love London the most from the line.
It was a while ago (february or march this year)…and it only sold for half price because they decided to stop offering Aedes de Venustas.
They only offer products on sale when its old packaging or when they phase out a brand.
Wow, what a deal! You smell great.
Thank you! Yeah I was very lucky, a Dutch retailer stopped selling Aedes.
Around same time I also bought the Oeillet Bengale travel set with 50% off….
Bvlgari au The Bleu
You smell great Barqs!
Wearing a cheap thrill with SJP Lovely Sheer. I bought this in spring when i was in London for holidays. Very nice and officefriendly.
Now i sprayed Ambre de Merveilles, which a swapped for two unloved bottles ( Stash and Oriental Lumpur), so thats a cheap thrill too.?
Oh, and I can see that being a nice layering combo.
Another cheap thrill for me today. Empreinte by Courrèges. The dry down is especially wonderful.
I never tried anything by Courrèges.
Do you wear vintage versions?
No, I got my 4 Courrèges a month ago or so. So they are new. .
I recently bought a cheap used bottle and think it’s a good scent for everyday.
Yet another day in Winter Palace for me. Hajusuuri commented about smelling bubblegum and root beer; I wonder if the root beer is what I am reading as Raid (especially because I learned earlier this year that root beer, which I adore, comes across to many who did not grow up with it as some kind of household cleaning solution). Last night I decided that the far dry down of WP was similar to that of L’Heure Bleue. Today, Winter Palace = toasted marshmallow. I’m having fun with it, and I smell yummy! (And for the first few minutes, a little bit weird.)
Winter Palace smells like a cleaning product on me unfortunately.
Same experience here. I really wanted to try it because of the positive feedback here at NST, but I was disappointed.
It was cute bubblegum with a hint of tea at first, but after an hour it smelled like the orange scented bathroom cleaner i once bought (but never use because I dont like that smell…)
Eek. I have mixed success with tea and orange in perfume, so I decided to skip the split.
I remember when everyone was singing the praises of Vanille Hinoki. I joined a split, but it smelled like citronella candle and cleaning product on me.
Not sure I have ever smelled a bubblegum note in perfume. Root beer I definitely have.
Ok, next package, you get CdG Red: Carnation ?
AdP Iris Noble – love.
Now in Profumum Roma Sabbia Bianca, a perfect tuberose. I see there’s a travel size available!
A tuberose I never tried! What’s it like?
Pure green bubblegum, with a bit of violet to add some sweet, and a touch of spice as it dries down. It’s amazing!
Interesting, thanks flopper!
Chanel Paris-Riviera for a really beautiful day, weather-wise. Me-wise, I’m dragging, lol. One of those days where keeping moving is the best strategy, so I took a quickie trip at lunch to the new Nordie’s for the 1st time. I was pretty underwhelmed, generally, but got to try the rest of the Chanel Eaux of which I think I’m liking Riviera the most.
I only walked away with samples of Chanel Jersey and Dior Sakura. I’m always hoping to find a cherry blossom perfume to love. Not sure this is it…
Paris-Riviera is my favorite of the Les Eaux too! You smell good!
Thank you! I think Deauville came in 2nd. I couldn’t smell Biarritz after 15 minutes.
Flopper sent me a sample of Deauville and I really liked it. It reminds me of a easy to wear version of Beige. Unfortunately, I haven’t smelled the others since I live in a perfume wasteland.
You smell great! I’m a house-twin with you in Paris-Venise tonight.
That one was nice, too. They’re all nice and easy, actually.
Glad to hear that you got some sniffing time in today. Perfect weather for it!
Wasn’t it great out? I tried to be outside as much as possible today.
Wonderful weather today! I hope we get more.
In Papillon Salome because I’m home working on yet another paper for school. It’s supposed to rain soon and since we just had a brush fire about 5 miles from here yesterday afternoon the rain can’t come too soon. I’m over fire season but I know the rain and snow will bring their own problems. Everyone stay safe out there especially if you’re travelling.
I hope that you get the precipitation you are wishing for.
So gray and cold today ?? wearing Baie 19.
Sorry! It was gorgeous here but I think it is not supposed to last.
No worries! It’s wet here now, looking forward to a green spring.
It was an absolutely gorgeous late autumn day for me. A little bit of craziness in my day, though. I found out that one of my friends has now been diagnosed with walking pneumonia after an early morning visit to the ER. I hope he gets rid of that ASAP!
SOTD = Oriza L. Legrand Reve d’Ossian, from the sample stash. I seem to be on an incense kick lately. Time to grab some others from the stash, too.
It really was gorgeous! Wish it would last.
Good luck to your friend, hope he takes the rest advice seriously.
Jour d’Hermes today, post workout shower. It’s such an optimistic perfume!
It really is!
I’ve been wearing Black Cashmere and Chaos frequently over the past few weeks. The BC is the pebble shaped bottle which I bought when it came out in 2002-ish. It has held up extremely well in that opaque black bottle – it doesn’t seem to have changed whatsoever. The Chaos I bought when DK did the Essence line in the black cylindrical bottles. It also smells unchanged. It’s quite similar to the BC but spicier. I feel fortunate to still have these. I think a lot of people would love it if that line appeared again. Sigh…
Oooops… This was supposed to be in response to Aurora’s post above!
I’ve just read your comment Viridiaan, yes, Chaos, BC and Wenge are beautiful perfumes, to think that they have been replaced by Cashmere Mist…
Scent of the Evening: Tom Ford Lost Cherry, from a tiny sample. This would fit under “fragrances I wouldn’t buy a bottle of because they’re too expensive.”
?
Hey, wasn’t that a category? LOL
Newest fragrance gotten: I decided to try Atelier Cologne Vetiver Fatal again, but will need to do so several miles away from Dad. Therefore I’m not currently wearing it. Dad’s been coughing and sneezing anyway, but I don’t want to risk setting him off worse.
New to me place for perfume: Perfume Unlimited and Colognes, very recently moved into the Rockvale Square outlets on Route 30 in Lancaster County, PA. Thus the vetiver. They had some travel sprays like the sort FragranceNet does, and will likely be doing more. They had mainstream department store sorts of things, and a pretty decent selection of niche fragrances available.
I thought I should clarify that Lost Cherry is not a fragrance that’s a “love” for me. I like it and wanted to try it on my skin. Now I’ve tried it, and don’t feel a need for a bottle. lol
I can’t believe I missed National Cake Day. That’s a bummer. I’ll just have to eat cake some other day or days.
