Bruno Fazzolari / Fzotic Corpse Reviver & Zdravetz ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 13 November 2019 9 Comments

Indie perfumer Bruno Fazzolari's Fzotic brand has launched two new fragrances, Corpse Reviver and Zdravetz.

Corpse Reviver ~ unisex gourmand; a re-do of the limited edition collaboration Cadavre Exquis. Per Fazzolari, he dialed back the animalics and added a whiskey accord. "A Frankenstein monster gourmand. Use for shocking pink nights and electric blue dance-floors. Surreal sidewalks decorated with dadaist fountains." The notes include blood orange, camphor, whiskey, rosemary, tagetes, dried fruit, anise, cypress, dark chocolate, vanilla and civet. $145 for 30 ml Eau de Parfum.

Zdravetz ~ unisex floral woody; created in response to requests for a rose fragrance. "The rare and costly essential oil of Bulgarian Zdravetz, lends a uniquely herbal geranium note to this bright woody-rose and leather fragrance." With grapefruit, bergamot, galbanum, rose, passion fruit, cedar, leather and vanilla. $125 for 30 ml Eau de Parfum.

Bruno Fazzolari Corpse Reviver and Zdravetz can be found now at Twisted Lily.

I definitely read that as “Corpse River”, which did not bring pleasant smell associations to my mind.

I did too, and I thought “he missed a Halloween launch by a couple of weeks.”

“Corpse Reviver” still sounds like a Halloween sort of scent to me. I’m not a big fan of horror, but some of the fantasy books I read that have magic in them include necromancy. So there was my association. Jalapeno’s comment below is much more on the mark than mine.

I would say having the word “corpse” in there at all is questionable.

I can’t argue, but Cadavre Exquis was a pretty odd name too?

Anyway, I do like the new packaging, and liked Zdravetz on first try too.

The opening reminded me very much of the original Audela, but ore restrained.
I am testing my sample now but don’t get much rose yet.

“Corpse Reviver” is the name of a classic cocktail that has recently made a comeback.

Aha, I knew it meant something I was forgetting. So hipper people will get it :-)

Very excited to try both of these, especially Corpse Reviver. I love a vigorous patchouli. I could go for the tiki drink right now, too. Maybe when my sample comes in.

Also, totally surprised these are 30ml bottles. That made these a total bargain, to something swingable. But they’re still pretty affordable
