Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit! Welcome to October. (It's also International Coffee Day. Plus, the freebiemeet is still open, and Donatella will be dropping by tomorrow). What fragrance are you wearing?
Me: after a rather bad day yesterday (and apologies, I am behind on both comments and emails), I'm surrounding myself in good vibes with Aftelier Candide. Tea at the moment is Colombian Tippy Organic from Upton, along with a little chunk of cinnamon and a dash of roasted cacao nib.
Reminder: 10/4 is World Animal Day...do what you like with the theme.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2019, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Mugtail Bunny Mug ("Our signature bunny mug. Cute as a button and perfect to sip from.") is $29 at The Rabbit Hole in Australia.
I remembered rabbit rabbit rabbit…hopefully it will take away my nasty cold which started yesterday.
Tauer When We Cuddle.
PSA Jo Malone now has an archive collection. Hints at return of Black Vetyver Cafe and Vanilla Anise but thus far only Lime Blossom, Vintage Gardenia, Nutmeg & Ginger and Verbena Provence are showing up.
OOO and retesting Bengale Rouge to participate in the CP. It is still reading uber sweet on my skin. Not at all what i was expecting.
the stutter is back!
I know đ What the heck?
Feel better cm8!
Thank you
Feel better soon!
My comment to you is down below âŹïž
Don’t ask ?
That seems to be going around. madtownteen came home with a cold on Friday and spent most of the weekend laying around trying to feel better.
Hope you feel better soon!
Must be the change of season
Hope your cold will be mild, thank you for the heads up about JM, French Lime Blossom discontinuation was such a shock.
I know. I bought myself the large bottle for a significant birthday and I think I have maybe one or two ml left in said bottle.
Boo hiss in the cold. When I get organized with my freebies, I just may have a discontinued JM listed. Who knows???
Eek!! May I call dibs now? LOL ????
No, but since you either donât sleep or is up at some ungodly hour, you may see it first ?
And the Nutmeg & Ginger is already gone!!!!
Folks must have pounced on it!!!
I bet!
Will we find âem here……!
?
Keep checking SOTD threads since I have a different definition of NST regular.
I love Vanilla & Anise and am glad I bought a bottle back then. Hopefully it does make a reappearance.
I know. My middle one loved that one and I should have bought her the 30 ml bottle. Never thought it would be discontinued.
I love that Tauer. I hope you get to feeling as great as you smell!
The fragrance really is so enveloping and warm. I love it.
So many people have colds in my corner of the world, hope that yours is brief, cm8! I always hope my colds are just an excess of house dust bugging my nose, there’s certainly lots of it around đ
Thank you, ringthing! I hope it is brief as well.
Hope youâre cold is better soon.
I hope that your cold goes away as quickly as mine did! Or even faster!
Hope you feel better soon! At least you smell nice. I wish JM Amber & Patchouli would come back, as well as Vanilla & Anise.
Hi all! After a rough September, I am ready for October. Wearing a big spritz of vintage Cristalle EdT.
Hope it’s a better month for you! You smell wonderful.
Thank you very much!
As to your question yesterday, Rose &Cuir smelled like In Love Again and a slightly rough-edged leather. Brown, not black. I need to go back for a sample.
Oh my, I love In Love Again!, I’m always on the lookout for a older formulation bottle.
Ii would say In Love Again is perhaps a bit sweeter and muskier. I have the “first” reissue, with the heart bottle and the hammered gold cap. I saw another one recently on my trip but I didn’t inquire about it. I’ll keep my eyes peeled!
Wishing you the best for October, Coumarin!
Thank you, you as well!!
I hope your October is better too!
Thank you!!
I love Cristalle , Happy October
It’s a classic! I carry my bottle around with me so I can enjoy it all day.
Nothing better than vintage Cristalle
It’s really perfect.
Here’s to a better month!
Here here !
Happy October.
You as well. đ
October was a tough month for me when I was a northerner transplanted to Houston; it made sense that September would be hot since you couldn’t go from blistering August right into cooler weather but when October rolled around, still hot and humid, I became very homesick lol. I hope your October is a good one đ
Spoiler Alert: it’s usually 75 degrees on Christmas day. I’m hoping to get a Northeastern vacation in early December, as this Houston boy needs to feel cold sometimes!
Ah I misread your comment! But yes, no transition seasons here.
I hope that your October is a better month for you Coumarin.
Thank you very much, Jalapeno!
I remembered to rabbitX3 also! It’s Indochine for me today – the weather gods here are finally cooperating and providing gorgeous, cold crisp days for a little bit, and Indochine is a perfect fit.
I agree. You smell perfect for autumn!
I agree with Petunia! you smell great.
I’m jealous, it’s 90F here which will break a record for high temps. The really cool air is coming this weekend, I hope ?
You smell so good!
SOTD is L’Animal Sauvage
That’s a good one. I can get away with wearing a few dabs of it to work.
Ciao Amici
I am testing Frederic Malle Music For A While
Tea Cream of Early Grey, its like dessert in the form of tea but without all the calories. I do a small spoon full of honey and soy creamer.
For any soap lovers out there, I picked up a soap call Nature at my health food store (I think its made in Canada) and is a goat milk soap. The smell is fabulous (light but flowery and dissipates after the shower so you can still wear you perfume) and doesn’t irritate my dry sensitive skin. Has shea butter. I good find for me!
That tea sounds delicious. i hope you like Music for a While more than i did đ
What did you think of it? So far it smells like pine on me
I didn’t like the combination of notes- i thought they were dissonant. After trying a bunch, i am also concluding that i am not a fan of most fougeres.
Have you smelled Dusita Issara? I’m not a big fougere fan either, but I loooove Issara and if it weren’t so spendy…
Good soap rec. I’ll check this out!
i remembered to rabbit*3 for the first time!
commando, but burning Guerlain Bois des Indes candle- boy does it smell good on this cold rainy day.
where did you find this candle!
Neiman Marcus!
Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit! ???
In Kenzo Amour Florale. I have been trying to finish this full bottle for the last couple of weeks, but the atomizer tube barely reaches the almost 5ml left in the bottle. I am hardly getting very few mists from it. I will have to thunk the bottle with the rest of the juice, since I will not be able to get more from it. ?
Thatâs frustrating. I had to so the same with my bottle of Casmir. Pretty bottle but poor design for getting the last of the juice.
Oh no! That means I will have the same problem with my bottle of Casmir. That’s terrible!
Yep, that flat bottom is not good.?
Take the sprayer top off and push the mechanism with the bottle upside down in your hand and the juice will come out. I have been employing this method for a good thirty or more years!
I will remember that next time!?
I will keep that in mind for next time, but not sure I will be patient enough to do it!
That is more elegant than what I came up with, which involves using a glass cutter to take off the sprayer mechanism.
That mug is the cutest. I remembered the rabbits when I was awake at 12:30 last night.
SotD is No. 5 Lâeau. Iâve been neglecting this one in favor of Eau Premiere, but this one is good too.
Friday is my dadâs 75th birthday and we are planning a small surprise party for him on Saturday. (hopefully heâs not reading this blog, lol). He is the oldest of 7 siblings and all of them will be able to make it. Should be fun. I have no idea what to get him. Heâs asked for three things: a new brush hog for his John Deere (um no, since I have no idea what that even is and Iâm sure itâs very expensive), new hiking boots (no) and a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon- now this I can work with! I was thinking of getting him a subscription to one of those wine clubs. Has anyone tried one, or know of a good one?
Sorry to hear about your bad day Robin. I hope today is better.?
Wow! That should be a fabulous celebration with all the siblings! I’ve not done the wine subscription but I like the idea a lot.
I think it will a lot of fun!
I like the idea of a wine club too. I read a gift giving guide in Real Simple magazine years ago that said some of the best presents are things that âgo away.â He likes a glass of red wine every now and then so I think he will enjoy it.
Happy birthday to your dad and all the siblings being able to make it will make it extra special!
I donât know anything about Wine subscriptions.
Thanks hajusuuri! Heâs not expecting it, so I think it will be really special. Life gets busy, Iâm just so glad all of them can make it.
Wishing your dad a very Happy Birthday!
Thanks lillyjo!
Happy 75th to your dad! It sounds like the day will be wonderful.
Thanks Nancyleandros! I hope it will be wonderful, Iâm really looking forward to it!
I used to think I didnât need Eau Premiere since I have LâEau but Iâve recently decided thatâs not true lol. You smell great today! Hope your dadâs birthday is wonderful!
Thanks! I love them both too and can totally see having a bottle of each!?
Happy Birthday wishes to your dad! It sounds like a wonderful time. ???
Thanks Jalapeño!
Today I am in the sadly discontinued Zoologist Bat. It is my favorite of the line. I hope the Bat 2.0 is just as interesting.
That one is my favorite too. I just love that âcaveâ smell. I wonder why they are changing it?
I was wondering, too, but he does say the new version will be by a different perfumer, so the perfumer may be the issue rather than the formula itself.
I believe you are correct.
I believe he changed suppliers and it had something to do with negotiations with the original perfumer – basically a contractual legal issue I think.
Iâll be wearing that later this week. You smell good!
This is the only place/time I rabbit – I can’t for the life of me figure out how y’all remember…..
Post shower, wondering what scent I need. This week has presented the first days with a slight chill in the air, so I might go with a warm incense, like Tiger’s Nest.
I never remember either but at least you smell fantastic today!
I never remember, either, and you smell great!
I have remembered exactly one time haha! Did you go with the Tigerâs Nest?
I did! It was incense for a bit, then warm amber for the rest of the day…
I don’t usually remember so I put a reminder on my phone!
I was Bad Day Twins with Robin yesterday and had to do a whole lot more adulting than planned. ??
Today, Iâm in SL Un Bois Vanille because I have an unplanned Dentist appointment (see my Bad Day comment above!), and wanted something simple and uncomplicated.
Ugh to the dentist, Deva. I hope it’s not too bad.
Oh no!? I hate going to the dentist. What lillyjo said, hope itâs not too bad!?
Good luck at the dentist!
Dentist….?nooooo. Good luck, i hope nothing painful or scary needs to be done.
Yikes! I hope your week becomes better!
Me too! Itâs been a Shi* Show this last week…?
Sorry twin!
Thanks! Right back at you!
Good luck!!!
Oh, I hope things go well at the dentist! My daughter was just telling me about her posh dental clinic that offers you a blanket, pillow and sedation. Have to admit that sounds nice.
Ugh hugs. Hope the dentist trip wasnât too bad.
Uh oh. “Unplanned dentist visit” does not sound fun at all.
Sorry you had to deal with extra adulting; that’s not ever fun.
Hope your dental emergency was quick and painless!
Spent the most of the morning in Lyric. For the longest time, I couldn’t figure out why I had a huge, itchy red welt near my butt but remembered that I was getting some cobwebs and a spider must have bitten me. I am post shower commando right now because today is my first day back at work after my 10 day vacation. I think that either LADDM or no 5 will do the trick.
welcome back , hope you vacation was great
Be sure to keep an eye on thatâspider bites can be dangerous.
Whoa, what Calypso said! Hope you have a good day đ
Your your vacation was great and your day back wasnât too bad. Watch that bite!
Ick on that bite! I agree with what the other folks have said. Best to keep an eye on it.
that was a visual that made me laugh, Jalapeno! keep an eye on your butt!
Stomp stomp Tyrannosaurus Rex stomp stomp. You know what though, while on first sniff I liked this because it was weird and strong, I have come to also find it beautiful.
You smell great!
May we all aspire to be weird, strong, and beautiful like a Tyrannosaurus Rex đ
Ditto this, although I have yet to sniff T-Rex. *hangs her head in shame *
I can send you some! Write me cfreeland quadruple 9âs in the realm of Yahooies.
Aww, thanks, I appreciate that but Iâll get to it eventually. Not in a rush to fall in love with anything right now.
I agree, I also find it very beautiful.
Smelling good!
SJP Lovely Sheer, because i could not bring all my scents with me. Today is grey and rainy, so we just relax on the sofa
Sounds perfect!
Sounds like a great day
Thanks
Oh
My
Gawd!!!
Everytime I reply to pl67 it ends on the bottom.
I
GIVE
UP
?? Iâm not laughing at you, Iâm laughing with you..!
??
Never give up! ?
I won’t ?
You know your random mistakes have become one of the highlights of NST, and I don’t mean this in an awful way.
Ha! Well I am glad it is making you laugh ???
But it is also nice to see random nice replies floating around, so anyone who needs them can take them đ
So true! ?
So true, Robin!! But I sometimes feel foolish ?
If the most foolish thing you do is misplace your reply, your life is going WAY better than mine đ
Oh dear! i hope yours takes a turn for the better soon!!!!!!! xoxo
packing and more packing for the move.
I want to open my Bengale rouge but better to keep wrapped for move.
think I will go with something that empties a bottle – one less to pack
That must be so hard. You know I mean not opening the Bengale Rouge, right? ?
On the other hand, packing is a drag. Maybe you should invite a few friends over for company and free labor.
And of course I read that as âcompany and beer laborâ.
wishful thinking on your part, nl?
Lol, yes, probably so!
Oh, youâre SO strong to be an able to wait to open! Happy packing and I hope your landing spot is restful and peaceful!
the struggle is REAL, Deva!
Iâm glad you got the new place you wanted!
Congrats on the new place! When is the move date? Will your sister move in with you as well?
I am moving the first week of November. It’s a lovely townhouse with the bedrooms upstairs and soundproofing!
Only one mile from me. My sister and I are in the planning phase for living together. Another 2 years we will be ready.
But before I move, I am meeting her at Animal Kingdom in Orlando for a long weekend. We are planning our next trip to Africa. So many of the lodges are only a few rooms and it’s expensive, so as we did with Tanzania, we planned and paid well in advance. And we want to go in good weather, not the rains.
I have lost 16 pounds total so the bigger clothes are being donated. Have stuff all over.
Congrats all around then! You have a good incentive to move! Good luck on the planning!
Oh, wow! This all sounds wonderful. Happy for you apsara!
You know papillon has minimal packaging so I say open it! Hee hee hee.
trouble maker Amy!
Good luck with all of that packing!
Congratulations on getting that townhouse! Good luck with all the sorting and packing. ?
Figuier Ardent, Atelier. Still trying to climb the massive pile of work after a 2 week vacation.
Blech. Hope the pile gets a little smaller today.
Hope it gets better!
Of course I forgot to rabbit. Datura Noir because it too humid/warm to wear animals here today.
Hi Petunia, I was wondering if you got my email? Knowing me, I probably screwed it up. If you didn’t, could you email me when you get a chance?
I did not see an email from you because I would have answered it! I’ll check my email now.
I sent a message so you can reply… Gee. I hope you get it!
As per your comment last night… my dentist DOES give me a toothbrush after each checkup. Also some floss, and a small tube of toothpaste. The toothpaste is handy for trips/traveling, but it is one of the “reduced sensitivity” ones. Tastes terrible.
I love those little.bags!
Twins with you today! We smell great!
Hey Twin! You smell lovely!
Rabbit rabbit everybody! Wearing gin fizz for post gym freshness. I got a recognition award from work, where they give you points to spend in the virtual gift shop. A fragrancenet gift card is one of the choices. Help me donatella!
Congrats on your award and have fun!
That’s awesome! We get gummi bears sometimes ?
?
?. At least you get something. We never do! ?
Oooh, what fun!
And you smell terrific!
Thanks! All I have is a sample…I wish it wasnt so expensive! I wish every brand would do mini versions of every scent they make đ
I hear you on that! I love Lubin’s stuff but their bottles will last a LIFETIME.
Nice award! Congratulations đ
That’s a great award! Our work awards are always so lame (luggage tags with the company’s brand???)
Ha! Yeah, we get logo’d stuff, too. No greater reward than being able to be a walking ad for your employer!
Congrats on the recognition. I say go for something frivolous for the unexpected gift card!
Congrats! Enjoy your future purchase!
Yay!
Congrats! Nice award!
Woohoo congrats!
Awesome news on that award & the recognition! Enjoy!
I could still smell Bengale rouge this morning, after 24 hours. Haha. The drydown is gorgeous btw.
Today:
Illusione for her (bottega veneta) on my left wrist.
Prada L’homme on my right wrist.
I like them both.
Illusione is a bit too fruity to my taste but i like how this is quite different from their other releases but somehow maintains that Bottega dna.
Prada L’homme is lovely, but there is something in the ambery sweetness that irks me, its too safe,? lacks depth. But hey, i would not mind a bottle for office wear.
Eager to try Illusione although it seems quite similar to Philosykos?
To me the fig is more upfront and sharper in philosykos. Philosykos is more woody as well, if I remember correctly.
Illusione is more fruity (smells like a berry, or black currant?) and its softer. It has an almost powdery feel to it.
Lovely! I like it already!
Hello all!
1) Did a HIIT workout early this am- will be doing this, alternating with the Pilates routine every morning for October. Whoo, wait a way to start October!
2) It was 39F(!!!) after HIIT class, so I am in Fresh Cream Soft Suede, which is perfectly snuggly and comfy yet refreshing after a hot workout.
3) But the after workout burn is real and I was warm enough to withstand this a.m. commute!
Good for you! HIIT workouts are no joke.
I did a barre routine on Saturday and my butt is STILL sore.
I am totally feeling it! đ
I did modify a bit- no burpees (I have had issue with my shoulder and it is not worth another shoulder impingement) and jumping was lower than a full high knee jump (that a LOT of force) but it was still VERY hard!
Oooh, those HIITs are tough. I have to modify my burpees by using a step and breaking the movement up. I donât think my knees could take knee jumps, though.
You smell great! I got a 15ml bottle of FCSS on Amazon, and itâs really nice. I like the top notes the best. Am I crazy, or does it get a bit lemony in the drydown??
1) Even withteh jumps II have to make sure I land soft and have my super cushioned shoes on!
2) There is a very pretty, almost citrusy/white musk powder drydown to this that keep FCSS really refreshing instead of smothering.
Okay, thanks for the input! Thatâs pretty much what Iâm getting in the drydown too.
My biggest upset with this broken toe is a halt to my HIIT workouts (insert crying emojis). Going to attempt to do some upper body stuff while the foot is healing.
Oh, how I get you with that- HIIT is hard, but exhilarating at the same time.
As you are doing your upper body strength stuff, do stretching as well.
Fueguia Biblioteca de Babel from a sample. I like this a lot. I might have to get a small decant of it so that I can spray it and see what it does then….incensey sorts of things strike me as fitting in the fall, although this isn’t exactly incense proper….
I need to look that one up, I’m not familiar with it and I like incense-y things, proper or not.
?
Thatâs a good one!!!
Beating the heat today in Cap Neroli. Today is one of those workdays when it seems like *everyone* needs something from me. Perfume gods, give me strength!
You smell wonderful! God, I love that scent (am on second bottle!)
Impressive!
Hope the perfume gods came through for you!
I’m wearing Alyssa Ashley Musk Oil, which I picked up at the drugstore yesterday because I was in need of a little something to cheer me up. I’d tried the perfume before and found it flat and sour, but the oil is another matter entirely: a soft classic musk that has a kinship to Chanel No. 5. It’s the best of the drugstore musks I’ve tried. If it has any staying power, it might end up being the musk for me as I’ve become determined to fall in love with one this year.
Ooh, I love the AA Musk EDT but have never tried the oil. Will keep an eye out for it at the drugstore…
I hope it cheered you up!
It sure did!
Nice! I’ll be looking for it.
Itâs starting to be chilly here in MN, so Iâm burning an Illume candle of Buttered Rum, drinking a home made pumpkin latte with soy milk and wearing Clinique Simply body butter. I feel cozy.
And yes, that rabbit mug is adorable!
Please send that autumn-appropriate weather over here to OH! Your pumpkin latte sounds fab.
Hey, Iâm just next door in ND! Iâll be knocking soon to get a whiff of the candle (hot buttered rum!!) and a taste of the latte! ?
That all sounds so nice ??
That mug is mine today! I love all things bunny related đ
SOTD: Carnal Flower
This scent is probably my #1 right now. It’s perfect.
It’s a way cute mug. Not sure the “tail” will work well as a handle for hot drinks though.
I thought the same thing about the tail handle but the mug is very cute.
You smell perfectly wonderful.
Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit for October, hey!
I’m wearing Rose Rouge from Van Cleef & Arpels today, fighting off the rainy weather.
I have not found Rose Rouge at Bergdorfs, the only place around here to test the line!
Ah, that’s weird. It’s not a limited edition or anything.
Well, way back when, I walked into the VC&A jewelry store hoping to see the whole perfume line. Nope, they sent me next door to Bergdorfs ?
Hello all, I forgot to rabbit. But I was dreaming I went in for another hip replacement and didnât mind because the surgery was full of cats!
Fortunately I am keeping cool at my wonderful friend/neighborâs house. Whew. In my mail I received the two samples of new scents from Diane St. Clair, Eve and Pandora. So far, early days, I like both, perhaps Eve a bit better but it doesnât last long. I donât think these will displace First Cut and Casablanca in my affection.
I love those random dreams. Hope they’ll fix your AC soon.
I think all surgeries should be full of kittens.
I think this evolved from the fact that last week I found out my dentist has six cats, and we began exchanging cat pictures. So, bad dentist is now good dentist! Haha and maybe bad orthopedist will also be good guy when I see him for my checkup on Thursday!
I love them both and find they have amazing longevity. I also adore First Cut and Casablanca . So our tastes mesh, except with Melograno ?
And Iâm still planning to send that to you! Sorry for delay!
No worries âșïž. I am happy to hear that we both like the new St Clairs! One of them may be my holiday present this year.
Picturing a cats behind surgical masks! ??
hehehehe
I ordered Eve and Pandora samples this weekend, so they should arrive soon. I can’t wait to try them out!
I rabbited a little later this morning, but still.
Wearing the lovely Nina Ricci Fleur des Fleurs. I see no real animal other than that a number of animals like flowers.
I just adore that mug!
A half hour after we were up
Daughter: hey mom
Me: what?
Daughter: rabbit rabbit rabbit
Me: DANG IT!!!
So I’m wearing Superstitious today, I think I will make it my rabbit perfume.
I’m sorry yesterday was stinko for you, Robin. Hopefully today is better.
I really love that bunny cup!
You daughter is a pip!
You’re covered for this month after that exchange with you daughter and your choice of perfume.
It is better! I did not remember to rabbit though, so rest of month is blown đ
LOVED that exchange with your daughter! BTW, I didn’t rabbit first thing this morning either. I think it was maybe the 10th thing I did? ?
I did not see the 0 and you are speaking with a lisp ???
I think I will do Zoologist scents all week. Yesterday was Elephant, today is Macaque.
Yesterday was a big day for me — I told my boss that I am retiring. Now to work out when đ Boss is tossing all kinds of options at me… leave of absence (no), part time (maybe), … we’ll see. Some of my co-workers richly deserve to be left in the lurch, but most don’t, and I decided that I would not feel right about leaving suddenly. At the moment the plan is to retire at the end of the year, so they have enough time to find my replacement and let me bring him/her up to speed.
I’m just barely starting to feel like it’s really going to happen! Wooo!
Big day indeed!
Congrats on this milestone âșïž
Oh, wow! That’s exciting. Hope the end-of-year plan comes to fruition.
Awesome! Congratulations!
Congrats! Just a suggestion â if you go part-time, ask to be an hourly worker…
Yes on this!!
Congratulations! I retired at 55, worked part-time for three years, and then retired fully. Retirement is wonderful.
Congratulations! Lots more time for perfume!
Hooray!!
Wow, congratulations!
Oh, wow! Congrats on your resolution!
Itâs exciting news! Congratulations!
Thank you all! I am doing a little happy dance in my chair đ
Great news! Time for a well deserved work rest!
Wow! That is very exciting!
Iâm doing Zoologist this week too! Yay!
And Iâm sending you a big olâ high five on that retirement!
Big congratulations!
I am so ready! Am so have another 2.5 years of work ahead of me.
Youâre living my dream! Enjoy!
Congratulations! ??
That’s wonderful! Congratulations!
Woohoo!! Glad to hear it. You are generous to give three months notice.
Congratulations on your upcoming retirement. Some folks tell me they’re busier than ever afterward, but they’re doing activities they like. đ
Wearing Mugler Alien Oud Majestueux.
Nice!
Thanks!
I havenât tried that one yet but Iâm so intrigued!
I was also pretty excited to finally try it. This was my third time wearing it. The first time I tried it it wasn’t what I expected and didn’t like it much. I like it a bit more now but don’t know if I will buy a bottle. I like the Musc one a bit more but will need to also test that one again. This one starts out very oudy and warm and animalic. the cashmeran is also pretty strong and this gives off a dry woody musky and spicy animalic effect overall.
Sorry for the bad day yesterday, Robin.
In Cartier Baiser Vole Essence de Parfum which I love for its huge but not cloying vanilla.
Thank you! And you do smell great.
I saw your dentist comment last night. I still use floss, but I supplement it with a brush that kind of looks like a small pipe cleaner. It’s for getting in the spaces between teeth, and it works great.
Thank you Jalapeno. Yes, pipe cleaner brushes and now there is a new generation of brushes made of rubber with little bristles, that last much longer, I still floss my front teeth only.
It is so important to keep our teeth, I had a back molar extracted last July and don’t want to lose more.
I’m in Amouage Journey today for the honey note because mayfly mentioned it yesterday. I’ve been meaning to wear it since the summer and am finally getting around to it.
It has been downright cold in the mornings the last few days. I couldn’t find a good parking spot last night so I had to walk 7 min to my car in the 40 degree morning. The jacket I wore was not warm enough!
My coworker is staying home sick with a cold. Lots of people at work have been sick but I’m hoping to avoid it. Also ended up moving two meetings that were scheduled today, so all of a sudden I have a lot more time to get some work done. Hopefully I can make the most of the day.
Hope you manage to avoid the colds going around!
I hope you avoid the cold. It feels like it’s pervasive this year.
Bleh on co-workers having colds. I hope it misses you!
Today I’m wearing the first of my Solstice Scents samples, Crimson Sap & Sassafras. It smells like home-mad (spicy) root beer. Yum!
And I have the Root Beer Float Creamy Whipped Soap – so good!
Sorry for the bad day, Robin. I need that cup in espresso cup size!
First day at the new work location in NYC and so far so good. I took my time walking and it took 30 minutes from Penn Station. My usual will be 25 minutes if I get assertive with zigging and zagging through the lights.
Care to take a guess as to what I wore today?
https://www.instagram.com/p/B3EqB1LBRsX/?igshid=1ohtpqyn1eb15
In other news – can anyone recommend a good non-plastic colander? I got one of the mushy ones with a handle and it is a pain to wash as some bits of pasta got stuck in the little mesh holes. Thank you!
There are lots of metal options on Amazon. Iâm with you, I donât like the mesh ones, and use an old-fashioned solid metal one.
Looking on Amazon I sort of like the colored enamel ones!
I will check since there may be a green one – my favorite color! Thanks for the suggestion!
Yay, I guessed correctly! That’s quite a walk to work. I imagine the sidewalks get cleared well when it snows? Here, not so much.
It took me 25 minutes to walk back, crowds and all. When it snows, I will either work from home or take the subway. No sense inviting a Fall even though the sidewalks are generally plowed well.
Iâm not use at all regarding the colander issue, but so excited youâre back in NYC. Looking forward to awesome âcommuter woeâ stories! Sorry you have to personally experience these woes, but I love the retelling of your experiences. Every time I hear one, I get thankful all over again that Iâm not jammed into some type of public conveyance having to see/smell/feel/hear repugnant individuals?
The retelling partially makes up for experiencing it!
I should have said âmeshyâ and I will blame mushy on errant spellcheck since the e and u keys are far apart.
Smelling perfect!
Thank you!
I at least got the No. 19 part right. ? OXO might make a colander that fits your specs. I haven’t been looking for one, so that’s more a guess than a for-sure, “I know they have this” recommendation.
Iâve been wandering the kitchen appliances ailes at Wegmans, Home Goods, Boscovs, Bed Bath & Beyond. Will try again. Thanks for the recommendation!
It would make a great espresso cup. Their handles are useless anyway.
Truedat!
Thank you!
That would be an adorable espresso cup.
I buy stainless colanders, but pasta sticks in those too. I just put them to soak in the pasta pan because I’m too lazy to wash right away.
In very early a.m. sprays of Angel EdT from a comet bottle. Oddly, it’s smelling a lot like Innocent today (from the heat? IDK.)
I had big plans to continue cleaning out closets and packing away summer things today but got totally sidetracked (as happens often) whilst checking my email. AirCanada was advertising trips to Colombia, and out of curiosity I checked to see what flights are like out of Toronto. 5h 15m and not expensive.
So I’ve spent the day looking into a trip to Cartagena. I turn 50 in January 2021, which seems like a good excuse to take a big trip. My original plan was to take a cruise to Havana but this administration but the brakes on US travel to Cuba đ It’s all just a bit of fantasy anyway, but window shopping vacations is always a fun diversion.
kpaint, I recently saw Colombia on a list of great places to retire – if you check it out, report back!
Well, Iâll just tell you a story told to me from a Columbian anesthesiologist…his friends mother was kidnapped and held for ransom. Apparently this is not an unusual happening. Crime is rampant. He brought his wife and kids here because they never felt safe and were threatened (his wife owned and ran a restaurant and had âthingsâ happen there). He worked as a tech here, then did whatever foreign MDâs have to do to get US accreditation to practice. The nicest man ever, and said he would never go back due to the lawlessness in that country. Politicians and police corrupted by drug money, etc.. just saying. Investigate THOROUGHLY…
I would be terrified to go to Colombia.
My aunt has done a lot of traveling through South America and she just recommended Colombia to me the other day. I hope you get to make your trip!
I highly recommended you visit Cartagena. It is an amazing beautiful historical city and considered the safest city in Colombia. You can research online and get the idea about the city and the country in general.
I went to Cartagena 2 years ago and loved it! We stayed here https://www.casacanabalhotel.com (no affiliation)
We also spent 3 nights in the islands outside the city (Isla Grande) and swam and in a bioluminescence bay one evening! Magical!
There is a great bar on the wall you can watch the sunset while sipping a cocktail.
2021? You are planning way ahead!
Also go to Resturant 1621, very romantic!
My brother and sister-in-law also visited there and loved it. The old walled city is beautiful and looks very Old World in pictures, and thereâs miles of beaches and fun shops. They had no problems. My only disappointment was that they looked for emerald earrings for me (I would pay) but there really werenât any bargains.
I got emerald earrings in Istanbul. It was mailed to me as I wanted a custom channel setting and my cruise was leaving the next day. It was supposed to be all duties and taxes paid. I got a postcard stating that in order for me to take possession of the item, I had to pay duties! Rather than fighting with the post office, I paid it, then disputed the exact amount on my Amex charge. I got my refund from Amex the next day. I dinât Think I was particularly convincing but Amex was smart to not spend any time on recovering the amount as it probably would cost more for the phone charges.
Amex has saved me so many times on travels.
I did not know you can buy plane tickets more than 1 year in advance!
United wonât let me book more than 11 months in advance.
I love that coffee cup but I have enough cups. October is one of my favorite months, sweater and leaf-changing weather. I’m wearing Box of Eels today.
You smell wonderful, esp for the first day of October! It’s my favorite month too đ
I need the advice of all you Donatellas out there.
I found a bottle of Guerlain LUI at half the price (~80 euro) and I’m thinking of buying it and offering part for a split.
What do you think? Is this a good deal?
Splits are basically buying it for free.
That is a fabulous idea- it gets plenty of love, youâll have no problem splitting it imho.
SOTD Iris Nobile edt. Dealing with a patient’s insurance company for authorization is giving me a headache. The insurance case manager keeps calling me and starts her call with “I have a dumb question for you”. And she’s right! They are literally the dumbest questions that show a basic lack of understanding of how insurance works. And this person is charged with deciding whether to authorize our services! Ugh. Thinking of hajusuuri today, lol.
On the job training, huh? Courtesy of YOU!
One of the most annoying things about our year-long fun with workers comp is getting those denial letters from the insurance company’s “doctor”… who is not even an MD. A chiropractor gets to overrule the surgeon’s recommendations!! Madness.
Yeah, that’s not surprising, but pretty awful. There was a 60 Minutes segment a few years ago about insurance co MDs and the financial incentives they are given per denial. It was so sickening and angering to watch.
Oh, gee. That’s so wrong. It’s bad enough that a family member has the injury — to be denied services the surgeon recommends is that much worse.
Thank you. The profit motive is ripe for fraud. The moment the government-run Medicare outsourced a portion of the work to private for-profit companies, the consumers lost (again).
The case manager wanted to know if we offered financial aid to the patient if they decide to deny. I said “what do you mean by financial aid? Like a scholarship?!” (I was being a little sarcastic at that point). She said “yeah, something like that”.
Me: This isn’t college.
Oy.
Hey y’all.
Some of you may be familiar with Robert Herrmann of CafleurBon and The Fragrant Wanderer. He recently went into hospice, and I just received word that he has died. I always loved his writing, and he will be greatly missed.
I don’t read those blogs. Sorry to hear!
That is indeed sad to hear.
That is sad to hear, I enjoyed his writing.
There is a post regarding his passing on Australian Perfume Junkies where he also used to write. He was a lovely and whity man. Condolences to his husband Ron and family.
Witty!!! Autocorrect strikes again!
Oh, how sad. I also enjoyed his writing. Seemed like such a vibrant man.
BobH with the cute cartoon perfume bottle gravatar is British, I believe, and hopefully alive and well!
I think he may have posted as his full name or Robert H.
Youâre right! He mentions TK Maxx bargains!
Yes!! I’m always envious.
Oh, very sorry to hear that.
(And hajusuuri, you said to delete your comment if you were wrong, and 95% sure you were wrong so I did)
Just seeing this. He once sent me a bottle of perfume–I think I won it in some random thing on Bois de Jasmin. He was funny and sweet. I am sorry about the news.
Iâm in VC&A Bois dâIris today, several layers of it. This might be better sprayed than dabbed. Itâs priced so reasonably, I wish it was Love. But itâs a Like. ?
money saved
Thatâs a love for me and I do think itâs best sprayed. But like Ltsg said, money saved for you! I think you smell super good!
Ditto but you do smell terrific!
Same for me, I like it, but I really wanted to love it.
I kept wanting to croon, âis that all there is…â
I’m wearing Smell Bent’s Hot House which I chose randomly because someone just reminded me that I have a sample and I located it. It’s got a sort of peppery note that initially seemed like it might be carnation but uh….now it’s more vegetal like green bell pepper and cilantro.
Sounds like a nice salad dressing. Not so sure it works as perfume notes, IMO.
Finally back to NST town! Being pulled in too many directions the past couple of weeks…. đ
Since it’s 95 degrees on this fall October day, I’m sticking with my summery D&G Light Blue Escape to Panarea. Maybe one day I can change over to cool weather good smellies!
95! ?
Kudos to you and the family for getting out in this heat. I couldnât do it for love nor money! Enjoying your IG photos, too. You may still be using your summer fragrances in January..!
Hey stranger, welcome back!
I think Iâll do a week of Zoologist for World Animal Day. Starting out in Dodo. I enjoy this one a lot and Iâve gotten a perfume compliment today so thatâs always nice.
Yesterday I thunked a sample of Ambra Nobile. Not my favorite amber but a good one and the hubs likes it. I donât need a bottle tho. Also our home inspection went really well yesterday- a few minor things but the house is in excellent shape overall so thatâs great news!
I thought about doing a week of Zoologist too except that I forgot today. I’ll join you in three days of Zoologist đ
Yay!
Hiya, perfume house twin!
Papillon Angelique today to get butterfly points. This is my second sample, and although itâs deep love for the first hour or two, it gets cedary after thatâstill nice but not as compelling. Love that mimosa opening, though!
I just read all the comments, here’s to better days for all! It’s very warm here today so I’m wearing Passage d’Enfer as a warm weather incense, I’d forgotten how much I like it. I can’t complain about the weather because I just talked to a friend in Montana and they have 2 feet of snow on the ground! It was 13F last night! That’s just too early, I’m hoping for pretty leaves first.
Snow??? Oh no no no! Way too early for that. I will take the heat any day over snow.
13 degrees F?!?!? Yikes! No thanks!
That’s crazy! And wrong ?
Technically it is autumn, but today’s weather feels like summer. Not complaining, though… the temps are supposed to drop by about 30 degrees F by the end of the week. ???
Robin, sorry to hear that yesterday sucked for you. đ
I’m going to go out on a limb and say that my head cold is gone! I still am a little fatigued, which I always expect after fighting something off. I emptied my tin of echinacea tea, so I should probably consider getting another one. After all, this is only the beginning of crud season.
SOTD = Zoologist Panda EdP, from the sample stash and Calypso. Wow, is this GREEN! Those opening notes are a jungle. ?
Yay for feeling better! I’m hoping to get the flu shot tomorrow.
Yes! I am pleasantly surprised at how short my cold turned out to be. I hope that’s a good sign for the rest of fall/winter.
Glad that you feel better. You really did recover quickly. I guess that echinacea really works!
That tea, and using some decongestant when my sinuses were starting to get plugged up. No messing around!
KERPOW!
Glad you are feeling better!
Finally!! Glad you’re feeling better and I hope it doesn’t make one of those evil comebacks!
Thank you Jalapeno, today was much better — at least until I read your comment about the weather, LOL…
Glad your head cold is over, it is awful to have a head cold when it’s so hot out.
Scent of the evening: 4711 Lime & Nutmeg, this time purposefully. lol. Last night I also ended up with a random spray or so of Hermes Pamplemousse Rose, 4160 Tuesdays Toyko Spring Blossom and The Different Company Kashan Rose on me and in my room as I tried filling those “space age aluminum” travel spray tubes from the bottles.
The Tokyo Spring Blossom didn’t smell like the sample I have of it. I got the bottle in May, and I wonder if it’s turned. I kept it in the box it came in, and not in direct light…
It was hot today, and it’s supposed to be hotter tomorrow. Thank goodness I don’t have to go anywhere tomorrow.
Hoping things get better for those folks having health problems, work issues, air conditioning issues (what a horrible time for it!), and Bad Days in general. I don’t answer many of those individually, but I wish you well.
Maybe your Tokyo Spring Blossom is a different formulation than your sample? ?
Possibly…I’ll try to compare soon.
Sometimes a scent will smell different from your original sample. It could have been reformulated but I would try it again on a cooler day. It could just be the weather. I have several perfumes that smell different seasonally.
Thanks for the ideas. I got the sample when it was cold out, and it’s currently quite warm out.
Commando today because we rushed but have a EBP samples stash in my purse.
I will finish my Coven sample.
So late, havenât been around, missed the freebiemeet (football season!) but today I wore OJ Champaca from my travel set which was a big disappointment – no longevity at all. Should have chosen something else for that one. Anyway, my poor 14 yo beagle has been diagnosed with congestive heart failure, starting on meds to help improve his heart function and remove the extra fluids. We knew this day might come but still sad. Hopefully the meds will make him more comfortable.
I’m sorry to hear about your beagle. I hope the medication helps some.
Iâd be happy to buy that Champaca off your hands, just saying lol.
Sending good vibes to you and your pup. Hope the meds help.
Aw, that’s sad news about your beagle.
I’m so sorry thar your beagle is sick. I hope the medicine helps with his symptoms.
Sorry to hear about your doggie.
Sorry your beagle is feeling poorly!
I originally thought Champaca was fleeting, but on subsequent wearings found it to be very persistent, though fairly soft.
I hope your doggie’s symptoms improve. We had an old cat that had CHF in her last few years and she faired well on the meds when we could get them into her. It’s hard even when you expect it and they’re old. Hugs!
I feel for you and your pup. My girlie passed away from CHF last July, it is very hard to watch them suffer. I hope you still have some good time together.
So sorry to hear this, I lost one unexpectedly from the same just last Christmas. I hope you a long lovely time together ahead of you.
Wearing Datura Noir tonight. I found my few Zoologist samples I should be able to take care of this week for the CP!
It’s cool out but at least sunny today; sadly I have to go straight to the thick fleece blankets to keep toasty at night.
Hey Twin! I’m still using the ac at night.
I’m jealous of your a/c needs?
Cold and bucketing down rain & thunderstorms here today. Doused myself in Cartier LâHeure DĂ©fendue from a tester.
