Hump Day, plus a few author birthdays: Rita Dove, Janet Frame, Robertson Davies. What fragrance are you wearing?
I went with the reasonably frivolous Gingerale from Demeter.
Reminder: 8/30 is National Slinky Day. Wear your most frivolous fragrance. Extra points if it's frivolous AND an enduring classic.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2019, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Love
Thunk
Pretty much sums it up???
yesssss
Ha! 🙂
And now testing Pacifica Beach Lavender Lemon and Enchanted Woods before hiding them downstairs in the Christmas pile. Ulta was having a sale and I started shopping. I also got Pacifica’s Target exclusive Moonray Bloom and tested that before it goes in the Christmas pile . Happy to see that Pacifica is making some new fragrances again.
Oh dear, no points for me again today – SOTD is 19 EDP. Supposed to be hot-hot-hot again today, but a little bit less than yesterday, and cooling off tomorrow (maybe even a sprinkle, they say!). Happy Friday Eve Eve, everyone. 🙂
You smell great
Thank you!
You inspired me to be your scent twin today, not that one requires much inspiration to reach for no 19!
Very nice! They do say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, so I’ll take it as a high compliment. 🙂
I haven’t worn 19 in years and all of a sudden I feel that I must!
No19 is always the perfect choice!
So very true. Someday I plan to try the extrait version – I bet it’s amazing.
Hah! 19 is beautiful, but far from frivolous.
In the remnants of some very early morning Eau du Sud. Will be leaving for the airport in a few hours in Champagne du Bois, which I’m pretty excited about! My bottle’s near empty but this seems like a proper occasion to drain it even further.
Safe travels!
You smell great!
Hope you have a good trip! Whoever sat next to you on your flight was lucky ?
I’m wearing You or Someone Like You from a full bottle, which I got from one of Robin’s drawings. I really like the combination of citrus and mint on a hot and humid morning.
That’s a nice one. And lighthearted!
Beautiful picture, Robin!
Hermes Eau des Merveilles Bleue for a warm, humid, rainy day. Love it!
That one recently popped up as a scentbox option. Would you reccommend it to someone who loves the Merveilles line but isn’t usually hot on aquatic scents?
I like the Marveilles line overall. Bleue and Eau de Merveilles are definitely related, but the marine/ aquatic note is very pronounced on me. I am a marine perfume lover and I think you need to like aquatic notes to wear the Bleue.
Robin’s review here says the same, but a 2nd opinion is helpful! Probably best I stay away.
I know..i was not asked, but maybe a second opinion will help?
I love both the ‘original’ Merveilles and the bleue.
The bleue is salty and mineral-y, if that makes sense. So if that is what you disklike about aquatic, stay away.
Imho its not an aquatic like Cool water.
Its the only aquatic fragrance in my collection. And I think its because it has enough of that Merveilles DNA.
I usually wear it when its hot and humid.
More opinions welcome! Salty is fine (I like Womanity), it’s the ozone-“sporty” notes I can’t stand.
Ah 🙂
well Its not sporty to/on me.
On fragrantica there are more reviews from people who usually dislike the aquatic genre, but like or love this one.
So maybe worth a try/sample?
Maybe a sample before I commit to the decant!
Hey Dorsey, i would be happy to send you a small atomizer sample or even a manufacturer’s sample if I spot one in my stash. I love it. As jiji said, it is more mineral than aquatic.
You smell great!!!
Thank you! ?
There are some amazing hummingbird shots on Flickr if you have time to kill 🙂
I second that!
I just lost 30 lovely minutes looking at only one photographer, and he is super talented. (He is the guy who you featured above.)
Yes…he is amazing and I already have another of his lined up for tomorrow. Makes you want to retire and go shoot pictures of hummingbirds all day…
Smelling Great!
Thank you, Lillyjo! ?. You too smell great in Oeillet Bengal!
Went with the happy Gucci Bloom
Enjoy!
I think someone in my office is wearing Bloom or a smellalike today. I’m enjoying the ambient white florals 🙂
The floral flanker is really nice; Nettari di Fiori I think it is called.
My daughter wears it often and it is beautiful on her.
I like all the flankers too!
I don’t typically like white florals but I love this one. Maybe cuz it’s sorta fresh and green and not at all indolic?
Kids are still jet lagged and I am exhausted. Breakfast this morning is bagels from the shop, no work for me.
I am in Eau Rose but after wearing sous le vent and azuree the other day it just doesn’t fit my mood for today
Thanks to OaklandF I was up late last night ordering Mary Renault books
I scrubbed off Eau Rose and now I am in lagerfeld’s chloe
Fits my mood today
mmm….you know how much I love that one! My high school scent in the early 80s….I have less than 1ml left of my extrait…
I love it! I do think of you when I wear it
???
Patting enabling pin very self-satisfactorily!
I got The Last of the Wine & the king must die
All for about the price of two *$ lattes!
I will keep you posted..
Santa Maria Novella Colonia Russa and drinking a cup of English breakfast tea.
That house doesn’t get mentioned a lot. They have beautiful scents
Have you tried Melograno? That is my absolute favorite! Sadly my bottle is almost done 🙁
Melograno is such a nice scent !
I know and it hardly gets mentioned!
they do. I just went inside and got some incense I bought in Florence to light after reading this.
Am on a mad cleaning out project while interviewing for next project.
Want the third bedroom completely empty save for treadmill.
Time to downsize, live smaller. Am at an inflection point in my life.
out to dinner tonight with a friend. have my meal planned to stay on diet course. think I will wear a touch of box of eels.
You smell classy!
Thanks 🙂 It was my souvenir from Florence, along with an SMN face cloth and light yellow colored makeup bag. I am thinking I will use the makeup bag as a clutch. The store really is beautiful.
Wearing Zoologist Nightingale – I’ll be making my first foray to the MN state fair this afternoon, so I wanted something fun that could hold its own.
You smell great. One of my favorite Zoologist!
I swear I will make it to one of these Midwestern state fairs, but I guess it’ll be next year. Didn’t make it last year; won’t make it this year.
Have fun!
Etro Shaal Nur. Another “happy fragrance”. Unfortunately not frivolous. I don’t think I have many of those. Will search the sample box!
Squeezing out the last bit of summer with Un Jardin en Mediteranee.
The Spirit Halloween stores are open now, which I LOVE, and their official twitter posted a coupon so I bought a jumping spider. 😀
In case you don’t see my post above, please do email me. I’ll send you a sample of Bleue.
Had an early doctor’s appointment today and went commando. It was too early to think about what to wear for it. I am trying to pick something out perfume wise. I am thinking of LADDM or vintage BaV.
I hope you’re out of your funk.
Robin, you are stealing my heart with all these hummingbirds pictures. The girls are fattening themselves up these days before they leave next month and it is so much fun to watch. We have 2 males here still and there is arial combat all daylong.
SOTD: Profumum Ambra Aurea because the weather feels autumn-ish .
Oh is this a beautiful perfume. My first wear. This is a rich, deep and sweet amber.
Could I be getting some incense right away? Now I know why it is so highly regarded.
I am dizzy! 😉
The expert at our local seed store told me that the adult hummingbirds leave on their trip south before the juveniles do; the juveniles fly unchaperoned. Who knew?
They leave late, probably fly high all night, drinking and whatnot, and then sleep until the afternoon. Drives the adults crazy.
Lol ??
😉
?? Wow not me!!
ScentSpirit I recently learned that loons do the same – the adults take off and leave the young ones behind for a few weeks before they take off on their own. Surprised me too.
Maybe the old ones need to leave earlier because their old arthritic wings aren’t as fast? So they all get there at the same time. Or see Oakland Fresca’s suggestion above.
That one is on my shortlist. I really love it too!
???
it sounds wonderful, but it is a lot of clams.
A lot of clams indeed–hence it is still on my list and not on my dresser… 😉
Oh good! We are having a banner year for hummingbirds, I don’t know why. Helps that I put out a fuchsia but really I’m seeing them all over.
I am looking for hummingbird emojis now!
I love hummingbirds. Where I am in SoCal they are always around me. during dark days when I could barely hoist myself out of bed ( divorce drama) my beloved therapist would tell me if I could find the beauty and life in something so small as a hummingbird, maybe I could hold on another day. I have held on many, many more days, and grew and thrived and knew joy again.
When my therapist died unexpectedly, the paralyzing days and months after were broken by hummingbirds. Just because I couldn’t see him didn’t mean he wasn’t there.
Oh, what a lovely story.
What a touching story, Apsara. I love how he helped you through the loss of his friendship & guidance and that you remained so positive throughout. You now really have a special connection to these birds!
Love Ambre Aurea. There’s an app (no affiliation) on the App Store called Texas Birds Sticker Pack. After downloading, the app appears on your toolbar (I have iPhone, and it’s only for iMessage). Then when you type a text, you click on the app thing (idk what the technical term is) and there’s all sorts of Texas birds, several varieties of hummingbirds) that can be clicked and dragged onto the text message. It’s a fun app.
Thank you Flopper! On my way now…
Many of the stickers resemble Charlie Harper’s art! I love his work.
What a great find, 2 in one day!! I still can’t stop smelling my wrists. ?
A couple of friends had a commitment ceremony at a campground last weekend and I have decided that I’m not really a camping girl. I have lots of bug bites and I caught a cold from being in a tent on chilly nights. Wearing Marron Chic since I can still smell it a little bit and because I know it smells good in our current weather conditions. I got a bunch of samples from Luckyscent that I’m going to have to wait to test but they also included a card that mentions that there will be a NY Scent Bar location opening this fall. Can’t wait
Lol I decided that long ago. And now that I often wake up sore and stiff after sleeping in my own very comfortable bed…
Marron Chic sounds yummy!
It really is a yummy iris. The whole line has been discontinued for years or else I’d get a backup bottle
Oh dear. A Scent Bar in NYC.
Blackburn’s Parlor from Solstice Scents again today. ..supposed to be letting the sample age like fine wine but can’t put them down. ?
I’m becoming intrigued by this brand. Googling
I was overwhelmed by the size of the perfume catalog but then I began pouring reviews on Fragrantica and Reddit, as one does 😉 , picked a few to sample and have been quite pleased. Lots of intriguing notes that offer a neat narrative for the scents…along w/ the creative names. They do lots of seasonal scents too.
My sister loves Solstice Scents. She has a number of them.
My samples have rested for a good long while… i need to haul them out for testing!
Have you tried the whipped creamy soap? Divine!
Negative. 😉 I ordered samples just after their Summer seasonal items debuted so most all the whipped soaps were depleted but I shall be lying in wait for whatever goodness comes out for Halloween and the fall. 🙂 Interesting and creative narratives w/ the notes and names for their scents…and lots of autumn/East coast themed scents…a neat line that I happened upon from reading this blogger’s fragrance reviews (no affiliation) which I stumbled upon from googling some specific scent and then I began to looking up reviews on Fragrantica, etc. The blogger is really into indie perfumes. http://yuzusvanity.blogspot.com/ I have enjoyed reading her reviews and thoughts on many of hte indie lines…you may too. 🙂
Which samples did you get please? Looking forward to your thoughts. ??
I got the following:
Blackburn’s Parlor EDP
Blossom Jam Tea Cakes EDP
Chiffon EDP
Estate Vanilla
Rose Mallow Cream EDP
Snowshoe Pass EDP
Violet Mallow EDP
White Feather
Nightgown extrait
Violet Truffle extrait
I have tried all except Violet Truffle. Now I have to figure which of the above I need more of, the others I should try next and what seasonal Halloween/autumn releases I should plan for too. The days are packed! ?
Vetiver extraordinaire
Another hot and sweaty day,
I have to hurry and change quickly into a fresh non sweaty-outfit for dinner with friends
These women are former co-workers, from 3 jobs ago (so….almost 10 years ago) We don’t meet that often but when we do we (once a year) we have tons of fun. ?
Have a great time!
Good morning. Just put on Un Bois Vanille, since we’ve been talking about it off and on. I think I like it better as a soothing evening scent.
In other news, I found a well-stocked Indian (South Asian) grocery near where I’m getting physical therapy. My back is a lot better, but hauling bottles of mango drink from the car to the house probably doesn’t help. Recently I got a bottle of lychee drink that said in the ingredients something like: Flavored with a molecule that tastes just like natural lychee.
With the weather having been so hot, I’ve been getting kulfi (ice cream) in various flavors. Mango and pistachio are self-explanatory. Last week, I got pistachio with saffron, and it turned out that I liked the plain pistachio quite a bit better.
I got falooda kulfi when I saw the rose design on it. When I looked closer later on, the design also included strands of noodles and seeds of some sort. I’m guessing the “falooda sev” is the noodles, as the breakdown on the ingredients said “corn flour.” The seeds are basil seeds. There’s also cardamom. Having little pieces of noodle in ice cream is different for me, but I like the combination of flavors.
I’m stumped as to what Chickoo is. That one lists sapota as an ingredient, which I think is a fruit. It also has “Chickoo flavor” and oils. I liked the flavor of the kulfi, but I’m still curious about what was in it. 🙂
Chikoo is a fruit. You can even make a smoothie with it.
Thank you for the information. 🙂 I don’t think I’ve seen a fruit labeled with that name in the grocery stores I’ve been to in this area. But someday I may see one. 🙂
Hello everyone. It is so humid today I had to go for something fresh and green so chose Miss Dior original.
We will be visiting the USA for the first time ever next week when we go to New Orleans. I’m so excited as it’s our belated honeymoon and we love jazz and history.
I’m hoping to finally do the community project this week.
New Orleans is a very fun and unique place with wonderful food. Be sure to visit Hove Perfumery and Bourbon French Perfumery, they’re both in the French Quarter just a few blocks apart (sorry to repeat if someone has already suggested this.)
It’s a really fun and colourful city. But it’s going to be VERY hot and humid. Be advised! It’s important to hydrate and rest especially if you’re not used to it.
Welcome to the US of A!
I hope you have a wonderful trip here and folks show you their best.
Take heed to Calypso and drink lots of water and use sunscreen.
Enjoy New Orleans! It’s one of those places where you turn around and realize it’s 3 am and you must get a beignet…
Bendelirious! Spritzy fun…
I love Bendelirious, it’s one of my options for Friday. You smell fantastic today.
I love that one too!
Pacifica Sandalwood today. My no-brainerest perfume.
Looking forward to a book club tonight. We read Ill Will by Dan Chaon, a *very* dark psychological thriller set in the Cleveland suburb where I live. I could barely put it down. We’re a fairly new book club and some of our first few picks have been duds, so I’m excited to chat about a book that really grabbed me.
How can I not read a thriller set in a Cleveland suburb? Just ordered a used copy of the book from Abebooks (hear that Lovestosmellgood? $4.34 😉 )
I went through a period where the only soap I used was Pacifica’s Sandalwood. Haven’t smelled it in years. I’ll find some to sniff next time I am at Wholefoods. The soap was lovely!
Pacifica Sandalwood has long been discontinued so you might not find it at Wholefoods…if you do you are very lucky! my health food store still carries all the current Pacificas but the Pacifica rep retrieved all the discontinued fragrances and would not allow the store to sell them anymore 🙁
Ooh I wonder what the Pacifica reps do with all the discontinued stock…
I think they sell them at their factory/warehouse. I think ede would know…. fairly certain she has been to some of those sales!
Or they’re making some bank on eBay!
Oakland Fresca, I worked at a secondhand bookstore several years ago and one of my tasks was posting books for sale on Abebooks and packaging orders for shipment. So I like to imagine that your copy is being processed and lovingly packaged at a local bookstore by someone like me 🙂
I know the carbon footprint of books being shipped about is not laudable, but I love reading real books, and the words never grow old, so who cares if the book is new or not?! I will now be thinking about the folks in the bookshops packing up the books!
I have two bars squirrelled away… California Star Jasmine and Spanish Amber. I think I’ll cut them into slices and ration them for as long as I can! I don’t think they even sell bar soap anymore. ? I still see the odd discontinued products in health food stores. Grrrr…
The bar soaps are gone and have been for a long time. YOu are very lucky that the sales reps don’t take them out of our health food store.
I’ve made a note of the title and will pick it up at the library this afternoon. Thanks for the recommendation!
Orris & Sandalwood today. Has anyone tried the JM dry oils? I wonder about projection and longevity.
I had a bottle of the oud/rose (can’t remember the name) several years ago and really enjoyed it. Though I wore it frequently, the oil went “off” within the year. That’s the only reason I didn’t repurchase.
That would have made me very unhappy.
Will second the Velvet Rose and Oud dry oil, which is very nice in the winter especially for dry legs. It’s not as long-lasting as the VRO perfume, but definitely longer lasting than the rest of the JM perfumes.
Are they atomizers? I could find any details on their website.
Ack! Love Robertson Davies and was recently listening to “Murther and Walking Spirits” via audible. I read the book quite a while back, so now, considering my advanced age, listening to it is like a brand new story. Who says getting old doesn’t have some redeeming qualities?
Yesterday was a rainy, gloomy day, perfect for binge watching “Would I Lie to You?” I love “British” humor and I’m a bit fixated on David Mitchell. Alas, he out of my intellectual league by leaps and bounds. But, I did laugh out loud multiple times, and we all know how good laughter is for the soul.
I enjoyed l’Elephant so much yesterday, I’m wearing it again. The weather had done a complete 180 and it’s sunny and mild. Will be taking the baby T-Rex for a bike ride soon.
Cheers and Happy Hump Day! ✌?
Just looked up Would I Lie to You? and it looks like a fun one to watch. JustWatch says it’s available to stream on Prime, do you know if it’s on regular Amazon Prime or one of their British subscriptions? The subscription situation is getting ridiculous imho, everything I want to watch is on a sub I don’t have ? fwp.
Glad you are enjoying l’Elephant!
I hear you about the subscription deal! I have started paying individually for seasons. Just bought Season 6 of Endeavour. WILTY has been around for almost a decade or more now. You can see earlier seasons on You Tube, and you may also be able to stream them through Prime without paying for a subscription, just by getting seasons or individual shows. I would try free YouTube episodes to see if you like it before spending anything. It’s the kind of humor frowned on here in the US, and it’s not for everyone. It’s the polar opposite of politically correct and No One- gender, class, culture- is out of bounds. If you DO happen to like it, I would recommend “8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown” which is a numbers and letters show that’s also been around to donkeys years, and quite funny as well.
My whole family loves WILTY. It is really laugh-out-loud funny! We also watch the Big Fat Quiz of the Year and it’s various spinoffs, as well as QI! As you can see we have an huge appetite for British quiz/panel shows. They’re fantastic.
Yes, I’m a fan too. They have some clever shows. ?
Well, I thought this one would be frivolous, but it isn’t–the price alone (which I just looked up) will kill you in a most unfrivolous way!
I’m testing Guerlain’s Mon Precieux Nectar, which is more gourmand than I expected. Usually that sends me to the hills, but I think this perfume is gorgeous. I am not sure that it is “me”, whatever that means. But I will enjoy this decant while it lasts. I picked it up at one of StC’s recent sales.
Off topic update. My husband said goodbye to our son at college yesterday afternoon, and then took himself out to a local eatery and bar near the school. Says his best friend called out of the blue and he sat there blubbering and sobbing into the phone at the bar. He was laughing when he told me the story–but needless to say it is always interesting to learn new things about yourself and your spouse after 20+ years of marriage. I thought I was going to be a basket case and he was going to be all stiff upper lip about our son’s departure. Husband is flying home this morning. Wonders never cease!
🙂 It’s challenging when the first one goes …but equally as challenging when the last one goes too! I also thought I would be crying when dropping my son off last Saturday. But I wasn’t . Instead Mr. Marzipan was marching in and out of my son’s room all evening long! I am glad that your husband had his best friend to lean on…and you as well 🙂
OH and forgot to say you smell lovely. I have a decant of that one as well. Looking forward to wearing it when the weather gets cooler.
I love that scent!
My heart goes out to all of you going through this. The year that my 4th and last child went to university was the year that my oldest got married, my second left to do her masters and my third left on a co-op term. My husband also passed away that year, so within 4 months I went from a wife with 4 “children” at home to living in a totally empty house. I feel for all of you but all I can say is “this too shall pass” and you will not only survive but prevail.
Oh my goodness. That’s a lot at once!
Ach… a husband’s passing is another thing altogether. There’s no hint of sweet in that bitter. I am sorry.
I can’t imagine how hard that was for you.
My heart goes out to you as well scentspirit, what a challenging year of change.
My oldest is now 2 hours away at college….and it just feels WEIRD. It feels like she’s just at band camp or something and she’s not heading towards independence. It kinda hits me in waves…one minute I’m fine and happy for her, the next minute I’m missing her and sad for me! 🙂
I remember when I went off to college. It was only about 30 minutes away from home. My dorm room phone rang, and it was my Dad. Wanting to know how I was, I hadn’t called, etc… I said with a chuckle, “how long have I been gone?” He replied in a terribly plaintive voice, “eight days….”. I’ve always remembered that. Sweetest call I ever got.
So sweet!
Oh no! ?
Heretic Smudge. Someone mentioned it here the other day, and I was intrigued, so I ordered a small bottle. It’s very nice-smoky and dusty. Realllllllly like this scent.
did you get your lipstick yet? I though of you. I wore it almost everyday on our vacation. I blotted it down to a stain in the morning and it lasted..
Aww thank you-I did get it. It smells yummy. Like you, I wear it as a stain. I also top it off with NARS Cruising lipstick and then it’s glossy. Hope your vacation was wonderful!
ah that is nice to double up. I prefer the matte finish, I love the polished look since I don’t wear much other makeup on my face other than lipstick and maybe a lick of mascara.
What lipstick are we talking about? I loove loove orange fizz from Bite. It lasts all day without being dry
Isn’t it Amazing?!! I really liked my sample too and would love to own it.
(Maybe it was me who mentor?)
They captured every component perfectly! I am glad you like it!
SOTD is Gabrielle essence. I love it. The flankerthing worked this time: I love my regular Gabrielle now more than ever!
Nice, I think that’s rare!
Fairly frivolous today in Tendre Madeleine. Trying to decide if there’s anything I want to swap bad enough to deal with the post office….
Not especially frivolous in Un Jardin Sur le Nil, but I smell great 🙂
Yep!
And adding, that might be JCE’s most light hearted fragrance?
So super windy today! I’m wearing a sweater and a jacket! Sotd is Oeillet Bengal. It might be my sinuses acting up, because I’m having a hard time smelling it. Idk… this might go up for a swap. I haven’t really warmed up to it.
Ooh I love that one! My impromptu split for it last week didn’t go through but I will try again at the splitmeet or keep an eye out during the swapmeet earlier. Who knows – I might get really lucky!!
I’m sampling Thameen Riviere today. The price alone makes this one quite frivolous, but it is a beauty. Never tried Thameen before, but I thank the perfumista who graced me with it’s presence. 🙂
I don’t get this weeks CP. What perfumes would be considered frivolous..
I think it depends on the interpretation. Maybe a not so serious fragrance, that you don’t have to sit with and concentrate on to understand.
I interpreted it as something out of bounds of what I can reasonable afford. To each his own! 🙂
*reasonably*

I was walking throug the old part of the university campus yesterday, all grey stone gothic buildings, when I turned into a courtyard where a magnificent magnolia was in full bloom. Its trunk was grey like the stone but the flowers were hot pink goblets against a royal blue sky. It was breath taking. The author Janet Frame grew up and lived in this part of the South Island and as a young woman was committed to an insane asylum close by…a terrible gothic building that was eventually destroyed by fire. She used to walk the gardens and look at a large magnolia , one of the few sparks of brightness in her world at that time. She was an incredible writer and she lived on my street for a while, her small house is still there – a very modest wooden house with a view of the valley. Her autobiography is terrific and Jane Campion made a film about her called An Angel at my Table. I don’t think she wore perfume
I am off to Auckland today and will see Waterdragon tomorrow and then I have to go to a black tie ( ba ha ha) arts award ceremony which is sponsored by Bollinger. Wearing Wander as it is fresh and easy
http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/CU1308/S00421/kiwis-touched-by-poetry-in-the-streets.htm
You have to scroll down a bit but this is my favourite Janet Frame poem.
“even then” slays me.
Thank you for the poem.
I remember watching the film many, many years ago. It’s an astonishing story and it was a beautiful film. Years later I read the trilogy that inspired it and was, again, very moved. It was so evocative and a welcome reminder how fallible doctors can be.
Is she still a well know writer in New Zealand? I mean, do the young still read her books?
Pleas say hello to Waterdragon. I hope she is well and still enjoying perfume. I miss her posts on NST.
Finally got here…..I’ve been up to my eyeballs in chart reviews and end-of-the-month tedium….
Wearing my forever love Prada Infusion d’Iris, which never fails to make me feel put together and professional…no matter how chaotic and crazy the real world really is! 🙂
I hope you get a break from the charts…ugh. Smellin’ good.
Wearing Good Girl Gone Bad by Killian, but I think the chemo has messed up my sense of smell. I could only smell it for less than an hour.
Chemo? I missed an earlier posting I think. Ugh! Chemo. Messes up sense of smell and taste. I hope you are able to eat well! Sending hugs!
Happy to see you posting and hope you are well all things considered ???
Hope you get through chemo without problems.
I love your SOTD and sorry about the chemo! Chin up!
I hope all goes as well as things can go during chemo, ScentSpirit. Hugs to you!
I hope things go well for you.
This is fascinating, but no idea if it works or has other effects…
https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2018/09/180926110823.htm
Maybe more about taste than smell though.
That is really interesting, Robin, thank you. While I was taking chemo my sense of taste was totally messed up but now that I have finished it has recovered. Hopefully my sense of smell will do the same thing.
Thanks again for the kind words, everyone. My second surgery was last week and I won’t know the results until Sept. 11, but I feel I am recovering nicely. I’m assuming I now just have to put radiation behind me and this whole thing can just be a bad memory.
I grabbed the closest frivolous scent I could find–a bottle of Lolita Lempicka Elle L’Aime. I smell like sweetish coconut lime good quality shower gel. Plus the bottle was less than fifteen bucks.
Ah, good call!
Today I wore Prada Infusion de Mandarine.
The heat is killing me.
sending you a “cool” hug
I was eyeing my bottle last night but eventually decided on Mohur extrait.
Wearing La Haie Fleurie du Hameau and enjoying it loads. Busy and rather tedious day that is fortunately nearly over.
Camelia Chinois today. This has enourmous staying power for a greenish tea scent.
Today we plucked tomatoes in our garden, more than 5 pounds. And lots of peppers. Dinner at a nice pizzeria nearby with dining al fresco.
It was a Bel Respiro kind of day today.
“We got to install microwave ovens, custom kitchen deliveries,
we gotta move these refrigerators, we gotta move these color TVs”
Sympathy for anybody in Portland working without A/C, it’s 99F on my patio. I’m wearing Outrageous and singing along with Dire Straits.
I never actually understood those lines!
Google “Story behind Money for Nothing.” It’s pretty funny.
Nice temps here, but boy has it ever been gloomy and grey today.
SOTD = Soivohle Pachou Minimal, one of my favorites of the recently sampled scents from there. It would be a tough call to choose between this and Paracelsus for one of their 10mL bottles.
SOTD = Mohur Extrait
Lovely and potent! This could easily go from day to night without reapplication!
In other news, I had been using PayPal to prepare my packages for shipment, including documents where I want to track had arrived but not necessarily that it was signed for. I am actually paying $2+ extra for this “privilege”. Last week, a post office clerk told me that the packages would be returned to me for insufficient postage. I had done this quite a few times before but was never told this. I was about to argue then thought better if it because I remembered something about “packages” need to be more than a certain thickness and must have something rigid inside so it can’t be easily bent. Now I know – as long as I keep under 5 oz, I won’t be paying more than zi was prepared to pay. I got creative with using a combination of light cardboard packaging, packing peanuts and paper folding ?.
Good for you, and you smell stunning.
No frivolity… just straight Fiori di Capri. Rainy day.
Getting a huge kick out of the photos and stories from my sister. She and her husband acquired a basset hound puppy, who is apparently quite the handful. Most of the photos are exhausted pup snoozing. So very cute.
Speaking of frivolous, got a message the Baiser de Russie decant I ordered is on its way. That was a totally frivolous purchase….
I always fantasize about getting a puppy but then I read tidbits like this and realize I already have my hands very full
Late to the party. Busy day. I’m in Amouage Fate today. It’s gorgeous—might be my favorite.
Brought out my mini of Jour d’Hermes edp tonight. It’s not a spray bottle, so I may have dumped a bit too much on; then again maybe not!
I tried to get a bottle of Chanel Paris-Venise a couple days ago online, but it said “insufficient quantity available”. I only tried for 1 bottle. Not sure why it is appearing on the site if it isn’t actually available.
