It's Hump Day and Spumoni Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in newish, but not new enough, Vilhelm Parfumerie Don't Tell Jasmine.
Reminder: on 8/23 we're doing Nouveau Niche...wear a fragrance from a new (2017 or after) indie or niche brand.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2019, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Paris Deauville sprayed with abandon!
That one seems to be pretty popular. You smell great✌?
You smell wonderful!
A-mah-zing!
Beautiful!
thank you!
Its’ very chilly in the building I work in. I borrowed a jacket from a colleague who is offsite today. He is going to smell like Chanel tomorrow!
I keep a black cardigan in the office for this purpose.
Oh goodness you smelled good today!
I pulled Jo Malone Wild Bluebell from my sample bag. Pretty, and a good contrast to yesterday’s very masculine fragrance.
In IUNX L’Eau Sento. Such a beautiful, light, comfy, smoky/salty incense perfume. Exactly what I needed today. Perfect for the summer heat, even though reviews consider it is a fall scent. Love it!
Salty and smokey?! That sounds wonderful! ?
It is! The notes are seaweed, cedar, cypress, teak wood and caraway. The seaweed is pronounced on my skin. Grear sillage and longevity. Sitting on my hands to not get a decant, because I found that only one online store is selling it in France ??
You probably already know this (sitting on hands being the clue!), but StC is having a 20% off sale today (code: backtoschool20 ) and they carry the perfume…
Oh no! I am going to pretend I didn’t read this! ?
Your perfume today sounds great! Unfortunately, cedar seems to be a bit of a bully on my skin… it can take over a fragrance and push all the other notes off to the side.
I have a very difficult time with cedar. I avoid it the most I can. However, I barely smell it on this perfume. The incense and driftwood are very dominant. All the notes are beautifully blended.
Smoky and salty incense sounds great!
It is beautiful! I am seriously thinking about ordering a decant. I see myself wearing it a lot!
No points for me (again). It was chilly and misty when I went to select the day’s fragrance, and I impulsively went with Cuir Mauresque and a teensy spritz of Rose Anonyme over the top. Now I’m having a hot flash and wishing I’d chosen a less-warm perfuming. Oh well, if it’s sunny that means it will be arctic in the office, so … win? 😉
Was it? ?
It turned out to not be sunny, but it was still arctic in the office. And the layering combo is still noticeable on my wrists, lo these 14 hours later. No regrets!
1936 Vanille Outremer.
I guess somebody wanted to smell like vanilla cookie today.
Definitely worse things to smell like!? Vanilla cookie scents are the ones that get the most compliments from my daughters…”mmm, you smell good!”
Aww, sweet girls. What are your favorite vanilla scents, if you don’t mind me asking?
Well, Casmir is probably my all time favorite vanilla. A recent love and the one I get the most compliments on is Vanille Insensee, which I feel is also safe for work. I have small decants of Dame Black Flower Mexican Vanilla, Orchidee Vanille and Vanille 44…there are probably some others I’m forgetting but those are the first that come to mind.
I like Vanille Insensee, too. I put on Un Bois Vanille when I went to bed last night. That’s a vanilla fragrance I really like.
Oooh, nice choices! I’ve tried and like most of those. Casmir and Orchidee Vanille are ones I haven’t tried yet. BFMV is wonderful. Thanks for the chat, mtg! ?
You should get recommendations from She-ra! She’s the queen of vanilla!
I found Orchidee Vanille rather sweet the last time I sniffed it. I wasn’t willing to try it on skin in hot and humid weather, but that’s a quirk of mine. Not a knock on the perfume.
Omg! That photo blurb had me laughing and sympathizing at the same time. Been there, don’t want to go back! ?
Currently making my pour over and eyeing a cranberry orange muffin for breakfast. Wearing my old friend SB Smoked Ambergris. Doggo has been fed and out already, so all that needs to be done is decide where to go today. I’m very close to grand Forks now, and there are a couple lovely, historical state parks nearby that I may end up at.
Last night I went to a very well maintained county park that was completely empty except for two trashy trailers, 3 broken down cars, and a gaggle of loud people, all in the same camp spot. Plus the toilet was disgusting. No thanks! Not paying money for that. Went down the road a bit and parked up for free at a nice quiet Walmart with plenty of grass for T-Rex and clean bathrooms. I contributed to the their coffers by purchasing aforementioned muffins, bananas, and a salad for dinner.
How sad about the state park. My pet peeve is people playing music while hiking. Ughhh, point of getting out in nature is to get out in nature, not listen to the top 100.
I have a friend who listens to Audible books while hiking. I do the stop, see, smell and listen more or less the whole time!
Oh, that’s one of my pet peeves, too!
Isn’t that photo title hysterical? Great shot, too.
Shame about the county park. Hope you do better with the upcoming state parks.
It was an outlier as most small county parks have been well cared for, and cheap to boot. I have a feeling it was current inhabitants that made the mess, just based on the garbage pit that was their campsite. I’m just surprised they have gotten away with it. Most towns are very particular about the camp spots in their parks.
Hilarious. Made me think of my own travel photos . . . oh the stories they do not tell…
Reminds me of a remark U made to my sister-in-law about my great niece. “She’s always smiling!” My SIL said it’s because they only take pictures when she’s smiling ???
Exactly!
Disgusting toilets are a deal breaker for me too. Glad you could find a Walmart, I think their bakery items are not half bad. My youngest still talks about the pumpkin pie my mom got there for thanksgiving one year, lol.
Well, I have a cassette toilet in my van, but I mainly use it for first thing in the morning and last thing at night scenario. If there is a toilet where I’m camped, I prefer to use it, unless it’s disgusting. I will say that the majority of the pit and flush toilets that I’ve come across as I’ve traveled over the summer have been clean. One in Idaho even had the inside painted in this great outdoor mural type thing… totally unexpected! I meant to get a photo of it and forgot..?
I am confused. Local parks are supposed to be free.
?? Nope, nothing is free!
I need to try that Smoked Ambergris! I know you’re a big fan. Glad the Walmart worked out!
Memo Italian Leather. Hits the right spot every single time.
That’s a good one!
I’m wearing Gucci Mémoire d’une Odeur. I love this more each time I wear it.
I am looking forward to sampling this again at Ulta
Safran Troublant, because a bottle arrived yesterday (blind bought at a really good price, absolutely triggered by some chatter on nst.)
Haven’t been in the mood to wear any of the very few scents that could get me CP points: Rogue samples and Hermetica Rosefire. Now, if I could find the sample that’s nearly thunked, or if my FB would ever arrive–shipping has been slow!–I’d be wearing Potentia Silver Thread.
How do you like it?
Love the spicy opening, but it is very fleeting and quickly becomes a pleasant dry vanilla skin scent on me. The bottle was super discounted, otherwise I might be disappointed by performance. Of course, YMMV.
Report back
Repeating my comment, ’cause I never know how these shake out for people: Love the spicy opening, but it is very fleeting and quickly becomes a pleasant dry vanilla skin scent on me. My bottle was super cheap though, so I will just spray with abandon and enjoy.
wearing 22 edt from 1990 (forgot how much I loved this one with its incense accord…wore it a lot in the 80s and 90s)
Participating in the CP by testing House of Gray (2018) Bohemia (animalic rose) and Paradisus (gorgeous iris)
You smell perfect, cm8!
Aka CM???
Thanks, lillyjo ???
Ô De Lancôme – it’s too humid and too hot here for me to tolerate much else!
Great choice!
So fitting for humid and hot.
Love that! It’s a great humidity cutter.
I don’t have any new niche. Did go sniffing today at a very swanky mall while in the city for a meeting. Tried some Etro: Shaal Nur again (on the buy list for a while now) and ?Vento Fiori – nice topnotes, not much else. Sprayed Bottega Veneta again on impulse. The previous times I tried this I got a very watered down leather. This time it was a dead ringer for Le Parfum de Therese. What gives?
Fragrancenet has a bunch of Etro stuff right now, including Shaal Nur (iirc.)
Thanks. But I did in fact finally buy it today. A 50 ml bottle and I got a good discount! I did go look on Fragrancenet, but on there Shaal Nur is much more expensive than their other Etro’s.
Nice job finding that 50mL Shaal Nur! The smaller bottles are getting hard to find for so many perfumes now.
In the heat and humidity, on MY skin, gardenia, grapefruit, and TOMATO plants.
Jour d’Hermes EDP
Sounds like a fabulous combination!
Yum! Wish I’d get that from Jour. I don’t think I have the edp, though.
Sounds like Jour d’Hermes is better on you than it is on me!
Good morning Y’all…
Wearing Ego Facto Poopoo Pidoo. I sprayed some last night and it was still going strong this morning when I got up, so I added a couple more sprays! LOVE THIS STUFF. It’s soft, gentle, and very ladylike….
I love that stuff too. Shame Ego Facto did not do more fragrances…
FB on sale at Olfactif right now, $65 for 50ml
Holy cow! I might have to buy a backup bottle! Is Ego Facto still making it? Anyone know? 🙂
It is definitely more humid today than I thought it was going to be, so I’m in Guerlain AA Nerolia Bianca thanks to a generous NSTer. This is lovely and I see it goes for very little on the discount sites. I debated about turning the air on but I was stuck in meetings all day yesterday in air conditioned rooms and I was freezing!? I think I’ll just enjoy the heat.
Stopped by Trader Joe’s the other day and on display in the entrance was…Dark Chocolate A L M O N D butter cups!!? OMG, they are delicious! I hope Tiffanie is reading today, I know she emailed them with a product suggestion and it looks like they listened!
Oh my! I will have to try those next time I go to TJ’s to stock up on pear cider and frozen chicken pies….
You really should! They’re good!
Yay for almond butter cups! I’ve tried both those and Justin’s.
I stopped eating peanuts (for the most part) a few years ago and convinced myself last week that it would be okay to gorge on some stadium peanuts my husband had stashed in the cupboard. 6 hours of abject pain later, the resistance resumed.
I think the Trader Joe’s are fairly new, right? This was the first I’ve seen them and I hit TJ’s a few times a month. Although, they tend to move things around all the time…?
I don’t eat peanuts very often either, not that they bother me, but my husband and I started eating mostly paleo a few years ago and I converted to almond butter, raw almonds and cashews for snacking on, etc. Now I prefer almond butter.
You smell good Robin although I find the Vilhelms incredibly expensive.
I’m wearing old niche today (as ever), Néroli Intense by Parfums de Nicolaï. Just wonderful.
Tea is Jardin du paradis from Palais des Thés
Isn’t Neroli Intense great?
I haven’t sniffed Neroli Intense – how does it compare to Cap Neroli?
It is longer lasting and sweeter, I love to layer them. My guess is though that if you love Cap Néroli, chances are that you will enjoy Néroli Intense as well.
I find Neroli Intense to be more saturated. It’s less clean/soapy than Cap Neroli, more white floral goodness.
It’s stunning, I love it.
My feelings (about the price) exactly. Really nice, thrilled they have travel sizes, will probably never buy one even though there are several I like.
Trying more from Solstice Scents today…Snowshoe Pass and Blossom Jam Tea Cakes.
SP is a floral vanilla that is kind of evocative of snow. The official notes are White Amber, White Musk, Vanilla Accord, Peppermint Cream, Cold Winds…
BJTC smelled a bit urinous to me at first. But now smells like fruity cake. The official notes are Southern Tea Cakes, Petit Fours, Floral Infused Jams & Preserves and a Delicate Aroma of Tea…
Both sound yummy!
Snowshoe Pass sounds lovely.
Was going to say that I am in the “newish” Pulp, but I looked it up. Fragrantica says Pulp was released in 2008. Is that possible? I am in the decade-old Pulp.
I am constantly comfused as to what decade it is, or how old things are. Everything still seems like yesterday.
It really does. Getting older = Everything seems like yesterday!
I’m wearing Casablanca today, which yum, and looking forward to learning about new brands from you all on Friday. Also, I had a dream about a new ELdO fragrance and it smelled amazing and now I’m sad it’s not real, which is a type of dream I’ve had about music before but never perfume.
Love that you dreamt up a new perfume
UNCLE!!! I ordered a sample of Casablanca. Okay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
🙂
In Baikal Gris from Areej Le Dore which is a brand that qualifies for the community project. However, since my skin amps cinnamon this is almost entirely a cinnamon scent with a little bit of mellow base on me.
Thanks! I can wear Flux de Fleur tomorrow and save Casablanca for Friday!
Ahh thank you for adding another brand I can wear for the CP to my list.
I’m trying Rose L’Orange from April Aromatics today from a small sample. It’s light, sweet, and pretty, but not quite for me. It’s a nice rose but not enough orange to balance off the strong vanilla note.
That’s a shame, that one sounds so perfect!
Agree with Robin- a shame because it sounds wonderful!
I intended to wear Orange Leaf again today, but what do you know my hand went straight for Atelier Cologne Grand Neroli instead. Perfectly refreshing in today’s high humidity.
Had kind of a wild morning after discovering not one but TWO mice in my kitchen! It wasn’t entirely a shock – we’ve had mice get in before. I managed to catch one of them inside a tupperware container before it got away, so I took it outside and released it into the woods. What a way to start the day.
We had a MAJOR mouse infestation last winter, after spotting more than a few when we moved into our apartment last July.
The exterminator said mice tend to move in from the outdoors in July, so that’s probably what’s going on. I pray to god we do not have to deal with that again. We and our neighbors lost count of how many mice had been caught last winter right around 3 DOZEN. Haven’t heard or seen any since then so fingers crossed.
Needless to say, the entire episode was extremely unsettling.
WHOA! I was feeling unsettled by just two, but 3 dozen!!!
I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you too.
Srsly, I about had a nervous breakdown.
The exterminator insisted that it was a particularly bad year for mice. I really hope he wasn’t lying.
Best thing we did was pack away any kind of food they might be able to get to. I also sprayed peppermint oil everywhere and used those plug-in deterrents but I’m not convinced either of those things worked.
Hope those 2 are the only ones you have to deal with :/
True story, texts later in the day after my husband set up a rat trap, the kind that snaps down on the rat:
Hubby: Did you put a rat in the basement sink?
Me: Eeeew. No! Did it get caught in your trap?
Hubby: Yep. I can’t believe it worked so–oh s__t!
Me: Whah?
Hubby: It is still alive.
Me: In the sink??????
Hubby: Ahuh. Still caught in the trap tho.
Me: How alive?
Hubby: VERY!
This is basically my worst nightmare.
Grand Neroli, is the orange and orange tree, I think you smell cool and collected in spite of the mice event. Like you I wouldn’t kill them but release them, no matter how long it took.
Thank you! Last time we had a mouse, maintenance staff came by and set glue traps, which I think are more inhumane than the sort of trap that kills them instantly. I set a live-capture trap before I left today – I hope it does the trick.
Oh yes, glue traps are cruel, fingers crossed the live-capture one works out well and you will be mouse-free 🙂
Yikes! on the whole mouse thing. I agree with Aurora on glue traps. They’re horrible.
SOTD is Majda Bekkali J’ait Fait un Reve Clair from a sample floating around in my baggie of samples I brought with me to L.A. I forget that I really like this one. It’s soft, woody, and a creamy white floral with a hint of earthy spice.
The weather here is so beautiful. I always think I don’t care to move back here, but then I think “I dunno, maybe…”.
Nothing beats summer weather on the west coast. I find myself fantasizing every now & then, too, but all of the planets would need to align perfectly for that particular relocation to work. I probably wouldn’t protest even if they didn’t, though 😉
Enjoy your trip!
Thanks! It is great until the Indian Summer kicks in. I haven’t been here in a few years and last time was September/ October and it was miserable and brown and dried out.
That’s how I felt about California too. The spring was beautiful, then it was never-ending-crusty-brown-and-burnt-everything. ?
Not if you live at the beach. 🙂 Can’t wait to get back to San Diego for the winter.
Enjoy the lovely weather! Are you planning on a visit to Orris Perfumery?
I totally forgot about Orris! I’m thinking of dragging my sister to go sniffing at some point. I know you went there but I’m forgetting if you found anything worthwhile there.
I came home with Isola Rosa! It’s rose geranium, citrus and a gentle musk. Sort of a blind buy, as my allergies were just killing me the whole time I was in CA. It’s great for the oppressive weather we’re having.
There are several lines in the store, and they are all pretty different from each other. The young SA was very patient. It’s worth a trip if you have time!
The weather really is perfect there!
I don’t think i have anything Nouveau Niche (although I will when I get my sample of Ari’s new fragrance “Sunday” which I am greatly looking forward to!)
Today I’m wearing a dash of my decant of LL Poivre 23.
I have very little! I did not realize when I planned this project that so few people would have anything…I thought I was the worst offender when it came to ignoring new niche lines.
Pretty sure I don’t have anything for Nouveau Niche either.
Wednesday! Hump Day!
1) Am in BeautyPie’s Brazilian Lime, Black tea and Fig fragrance- they are a niche direct to consumer brand, so I think this counts!
2) Cool fresh morning with a soft rainbow in the sky that dissipated even as I was looking at it. Magic.
Of course it counts!
Woke up in Mon Guerlain still going strong from a 12-hours-previous application which took another 4 hours or so to die down (though it was still in deep drydown stages.)
Now in FM Vetiver Extraordinaire. I spray on each wrist from a travel spray and I’ll probably still be smelling this one tomorrow a.m. LOL
I’ve been tasked with choosing a new washer & dryer for my sister. Does anyone have new-ish machines that they really love? She’s particularly looking for both to have good delicates cycles (a washer that won’t overagitate sweaters or delicates; dryer with a low-temp cycle that’s actually low) and big enough to launder queen/king size comforters.
I was using a brand new Samsung set before moving, and I disliked both because the washing machine overagitated even on delicates setting and the dryer was too hot even at the lowest temp. I’ve warned her off them since we have very similar laundry habits.
I’d love to hear some recommendations.
I spray? That was supposed to be 1. 1 spray!
Oh, and I thought that was a photo of the Bronze Goddess packaging until I read the caption. I’m choosing to still see Bronze Goddess 😀
I love my Bosch front loader. Completely happy with the delicates cycle, don’t mind bending down to load/unload. Also does a good job with comforters.
Bosch makes good appliances. We have a Bosch refrigerator and dishwasher. Neither the top of the line models, but they keep going and haven’t given us a day’s trouble.
Does your local library subscribe to consumer reports online? I think you can specify “best value” and so forth…
I second that recommendation
My top loading Samsung does not seem to over-agitate delicates ( I watched it the first time) but it has other issues & I would not buy it again. My (gas) Samsung dryer is definitely too hot on the low setting. So I am looking forward to the answers too!
I love my Maytag front load set; we’ve had it for a few years and never any problems. It has all the wishes on your list. It is a 4000 series according to the logo on the front of the machine. I would buy it over again if I needed something!
I really like my LG front load dryer. I got the optional pedestal which raises up the machine by about 8 inches and provides storage space under the dryer. Makes it MUCH easier to get things out of the machine after the cycle is done. No problems with the delicate setting being too hot. I’ve had a mixed experience with the clothes washer. I think part of that is related to where my machines are located, though… we have a laundry room up on the second floor.
I have a front load Bosch washer. I love it. Mine is white but I think you can get a reflective RED!
Fwiw, I hate front loaders for two reasons:
1) I’m notorious for adding things to the machine while it’s still filling in. If I remember something, I want to be able to add it!
2) I love being able to soak things for extended periods, especially tough stains in oxi clean, or smelly things in vinegar.
Looks like you can pause newer front loaders now to add stuff, FWIW.
Just adding that I have a top loader, and it makes it really hard to do both of those things — if you buy a HE top loader you might not be any better off.
This may not be helpful, but I deeply regret getting a front loading washing machine. The digging around and spinning the barrel to empty it is a real pain.
Well, dang, this was meant for kpaint.
Found you! lol
I’ve not heard great things about front loaders. The issue you have is having to crouch down to pull everything out?
Yes! There’s always a stray sock in the back of the tumbler, and it’s not quite heavy enough to cause the tumbler to ‘settle’ so that it can be seen. So, I’m forever manually spinning the thing to get all of it out. It’s a Whirlpool Duet. Other than that, it’s fine.
I have not had this problem with my Bosch but it is probably because I put socks inside lingerie bags. Also, I have a plastic stool in my laundry room if I ever needed to fish something from the depths of the barrel but scientists to think of it, it is not that deep either.
Oh boy not sure how scientists got in there — I meant “come to think of it”
I dislike my Maytag top loader because it uses so little water it doesn’t get the clothes clean.
Moustache by Rochas today, from the decanter-sized bottle I found yesterday for a song. Well, maybe two songs, but certainly not breaking the bank! It’s in a really old (40’s/50’s) ribbed glass bottle that I can’t completely encircle my hand around. Huge! I thought Kevin was going to pop around the corner any minute to wrest it from me.
It smells so good, a bit more restrained than vintage Femme, though they definitely smell of the same lineage. Surprisingly fruity for a masculine.
I get so happy for you, when you find great stuff? I don’t even know this one, and I’m excited!
Aw, thank you! It’s lovely, composed by Edmond Roudnitska and his wife Therese. A piece of history.
Nice find!
SOTD was Floris Chypress, a musky lemon to my nose with some – but not all – chypre accents.
It survived the day at the office but was a skin scent by this evening so I applied Lancome Magie from the La Collection bottle which keeps company to Cuir de Lancome and compared it with real vintage one, very close they are, difference may be just from having dabbed the La Collection versus spray for the vintage one.
Dare I say it, I never warmed to Magie Noire but have always liked Magie which I find more elegant. Don’t stone me MN lovers, it is too much of a good thing for me.
I say Rock it Girl!
🙂
I liked both Magie and Magie Noir when I tried them.
They are both beautiful perfumes for sure, it’s just that I find Magie easier to wear.
I remembered another 2017-now brand that I could wear this week. I’m in the decant of Pont des Arts A Ce Soir that I got during the last swap meet. This is a 2018 brand and release, and this particular perfume was done by Bertrand Duchaufour. I think it’s a must try it you’re a fan of his perfumes. I find it kind of a cross between Ostara and Nuit de Tubereuse with some Amaranthine and Pichola mixed in.
Oh, and Angela reviewed it and another in the line, A Chaque Instant, earlier this year. I haven’t tried the other two in the line yet.
Oh I loove that one, esp the drydown
New scent, old house: Spice Blend from Dior. It’s pretty quiet, actually. Pink pepper, cinnamon, bay, woody.
Does anyone know if Evilbay has suddenly changed their policy (I know, never happens, right…) on listing used perfumes? Today all my listings have ‘Condition: —‘ and when I went to revise a listing, it wouldn’t let me, unless I picked ‘New’ or ‘New In Box’. A pox on them. It’s kindof amazing how successful they are when everyone who deals with them hates dealing with them.
Ugh I certainly hope eBay has not outlawed selling used perfumes. It’s one of my biggest sources for buying perfumes at decent prices.
Me too, like the one redeeming quality of eBay is that it is good for reuse/recycling. Fingers crossed that it’s just a glitch.
What?? Noo
Fat Electrician, because it was foggy and cool in the morning. This time i got a strong smoke note at the beginning and sadly less maroon cream. Its nice for a vetiver, which i so not love much.
Got my Calligraphy Saffron today, a total blind buy, but gladly i like it a lot.
Zucchini meal of the das was a chicken, potato and Zucchini sheet pan.
So glad the blind buy worked out, it is most rewarding when you take a chance and it pays off, that great moment when you first spray 🙂
Yes successful blind buys are the best. I have yet to have one though
Congrats on your successful blind buy! It is always a roll of the dice, so to speak.
Bronze Goddess topped with a plumeria floral water. Will replenish before we head out to see The Bosstones tonight. Not looking forward to hours of standing, but it goes with the territory….
I’m ready for fall weather. Just sayin’
Your fragrance sounds great — enjoy the concert!
Ooohh you smelled so good today!
Robin, you smell like a marvelous cloud of Jasmine and lemon! ?
SOTD in the CP with First Cut by St. Clair Scents – my first wear and it opens with hay, alfalfa and sweet timothy and a bitter artemisia or tomato leaf or is it rosemary? This is really fun!! No wonder it’s so popular. I have a sample pack and she does these terrific 2 ml sprayers that I think is so clever. Tomorrow I must pick Garderner’s Glove and then I’m saving Friday for my favorite – oh that’s my OTHER favorite (because Casablanca is one !)
This is day 5 of terrible storms in DC. (l do love the booming thunder claps but the lightning has been everywhere and right on top of us for sure) It has been wild in my neck of the woods) This summer’s heat and high dew point have really been unusual.
Be safe east coasters!
I have been meaning to try First Cut for ages. Eventually I will get to it!
I love First Cut! I love Gardener’s Glove just a bit more.
I’m wearing Lolita Lempicka today. I never can smell the comparison to Angel, and I’m glad.
I don’t see the resemblance between Angel and Lolita Lempicka either. All I get with the LL is violet-scented hairspray and black licorice.
Exactly what I get from LL!
I get the same, but not much hairspray.
Not wearing any perfume yet cuz we were in a water park all morning. I think I need a vacation from my vacation. Saving my curious toddler from drowning every 30 seconds was exhausting.
I didn’t bring much perfume with me but I did bring two samples to try side by side: Sugi and Kyoto by CdG. I need Mr Yasmina to tell me which he likes better so I can get it for me, uhm, I mean him ?
In other news I got zero compliments on the Coromandel I wore yesterday but I was with ppl who tend to be stingy with compliments. I’m the opposite but that can also be overwhelming
I’m interested to hear about Sugi. No one seems to talk about it.
I would describe it as a green cedary incense. With a touch of lemon at the opening. It’s very pleasant and I like it better then Kyoto I think
Oh I remember the days of saving a curious toddler from drowning…
I can’t wait for this to be a memory too
Well, Coromandel is wonderful. So I’ll say it, you smelled fabulous!
Aww gee thanks Laura!
Commando for perfume so far today. As I noted somewhere above, I put Un Bois Vanille on right before I went to bed last night, and I think there was a little bit of a skin scent left of it this morning.
I got out to water my potted flowering plants and herbs this afternoon, and as I was finishing with the watering, I started to hear rumbles of thunder. It figures, right? lol
Those potted plants that have rooted into the ground were doing well. This includes the rosemary, and I think some of the geraniums. It’s been a while since some of those pots have been moved. (lol) Some of the salvia was pretty dried out, and one of the lovage plants. I think the other lovage plant, in a different pot, has probably rooted into the ground.
I have the sambac jasmine ‘Maid of Orleans’ out on the porch, and it is covered with flowers. The flowers only last a day, but the plant has several flowers open at once, and dozens of buds. Apparently it likes hot and humid weather. I think that one is also known as the ‘Sampaquita’ of the Philippines, so that makes sense. 🙂
The ‘Teasing Georgia’ English rose has been blooming and reblooming. I have a bumper crop of anise hyssop, and the bees and butterflies are enjoying that and the flowers of the various kinds of mint I have this year.
Forgot to put teas of the day: jasmine green tea and decaf green at breakfast time. Decaf Lemon Lift through the day.
Since Robin said that Vilhelm Parfumerie was a fairly new niche company, I found my sample of A Lilac a Day. I had ordered the lilac sampler from Surrender to Chance, and that was a substitute for AERIN Lilac Path. I’m not getting much from A Lilac a Day, but that may just be my nose.
We ran out of nesting comment space above…I can imagine Un Bois Vanille being a lovely bedtime fragrance. Thank you for the tip!
Your roses and jasmine sound lovely! ??
Same hot weather as yesterday. However, there’s a bunch of weather alerts, watches and warnings for this afternoon into the evening. So far, I haven’t seen or heard anything.
SOTD = Belle d’Opium again for today. It got clobbered by today’s humidity, though.
The rain is coming your way, Jalapeno! I hope you have a good evening anyway, though. 🙂
It sure did come my way! ?☔ It announced its arrival with a huge thunderclap that shook the house. The rain is gone now, but it was an honest-to-God gullywasher out there for a while.
New Mexico has really made me appreciate a good rain lol.
Wishing you better weather after the rain. Is Belle d’Opium lighter than the original Opium? You seem to like it quite a bit.
Another super busy work day. SOTD was Fleur de Peau.
Twins on the super busy workday!
Thank you!
Wearing a 4 sprays of Chanel No 19 edt (current version) on my arms, and 4 more sprays of vintage edt in my hair and neck area.
Almost done my gruelling project at work! I may have to treat myself to something lovely as a reward?.
You smell wonderful! I hope you do get yourself something lovely. ?
Thank you lillyjo! I’ve been there 15 years, and the pressure is ON!
Whoo hoo for seeing the end of a tough project! That’s got to feel great!
It will! It certainly helped that I had alot of extra help too. I couldn’t have done it without her!
You smell great!
Thanks Kelly! I really like the combo!
Definitely worth a treat! Congrats on finishing the project!
Jo Malone Honey & Crocus today. Pretty but just a “meh” for me.
Packing up my perfumes so the movers won’t get them tomorrow- I’m keeping them with me throughout the process haha. I have some stuff I’d like to give away to whoever comments. First come, first served. Prefer regular NST commenters.
First is a bottle of Ecco Bella Ambrosia.
Second I have a selection of samples and a mini/decant or two that I’ll box up and send together.
Let me know if you’re interested!
I forgot to add that the bottle of Ambrosia is about 85-90% full!
Hi Kelly, I am interested in the Bella Ambrosia. Please, let me know if it is still available. Thanks!
It’s yours! Email me your address info (I should have it but am too flustered with moving to look!) and I’ll get it right out to you. 🙂
Ooh I will have the grab bag!! Thank you
Great! Email me your info! You can find my email address under my gravatar!
I also would keep my bottles close
Good plan on travelling with your frags. I’d do the same! And bonus, you will have access during your travels!
Best of luck with the move.
