It's Tuesday, National Lemonade Day and World Mosquito Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm wearing Trudon Deux. Cire Trudon was founded in 1643, but they only launched perfumes in 2017. Partial credit?
Reminder: on 8/23 we're doing Nouveau Niche...wear a fragrance from a new (2017 or after) indie or niche brand.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2019, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Tory Burch Lettuce Ware teapot ("Created in collaboration with the estate of potter Dodie Thayer, the newly reissued Lettuce Ware Teapot captures the elegance of 1960s Palm Beach. It’s crafted from hand-detailed ceramic stoneware — in classic green as well as a beautiful new pale pink.") is $248.
I pulled out five samples from my sample stash, and then pulled blindly from the compiled sample bag. First up is Dame Herb Man. Just on the edge of too masculine for me.
Oh I like that one! I agree that it leans more traditionally masculine. Wearing it as a woman feels just a tiny bit subversive 🙂
I agree! I love it too and would definitely wear it! I wore Grey Flannel when I was 18 and loved that I smelled different from most of my peers.
Sample stash CP – I will do this for a week in September but will pull from my “perfume carousel”. I may swap a few things out / in before my personal CP week.
As a friend in college used to say, “Dare to be a gender traitor”.
Vintage Cristalle
And enjoying my son’s homemade Swiss cheese omlette…he is the chef in the ?….I will miss his cooking when he leaves ??. It’s my reward for exercising this morning as I am working on getting in shape but also trying not to lose the five pounds I have finally gained!!! Still not at triple digits yet ☹️
Beautiful Cristalle….
I can send some of my pounds your way…
I will take them ? ??
Good luck with gaining the weight! Like LizzieB, I’d happily give you my extra pounds. 🙂 An omelette sounds like a fairly nutritious breakfast.
It sounds like you’re really enjoying those vintage fragrances. Very cool. 🙂 Were you the one who said something like that your eyes had rolled back in their sockets when you smelled one of the vintage perfumes? There seem to be a few folks on here who have been really appreciating their vintage perfumes and vintage perfume finds lately. 🙂
Yes! Yesterday when I wore an even older version of Emeraude!
And I will gladly take any unwanted pounds ??
I bet it’s muscle mass with all that yard work hauling and Pour un Gimme ???
LOL!!!! You know it 🙂
?
i never encountered vintage Cristalle, but I bet you smell very classy!
The top notes are off but if you wait for the drydown it’s exactly as I remember having worn it in the 70s. Real oakmoss. So good.
I am really enjoying your voyage through Chanel! I wore Cristalle in the 80s.
Wasn’t it gorgeous back then?
And tonight will be 1960s Emeraude
I doubt my bottle of Emeraude is that old, but it is still marvelous. You are and will be smelling wonderful today. ?
POST shower following yardwork this afternoon and I am wearing it…my goodness it’s fantastic! I am wondering how current smells?
If I close my eyes I can see that bottle of Emeraude in my teenage bedroom.
??so you know what I am talking about!!
And again, no points for me
I am wearing Dryad
I just sent out a job application,
Yessss. Check. Done.
Aaaaannnnd….on to the next one (okay, I think I will do that tomorrow haha)
And waiting for a package right now, a new supply of coffee beans. ? It was supposed to be here between 1 and 3. But nope. 4 PM and still not here.
Yup, Firstworldproblems. ?
(And yes if Id leave the house it will probably be dropped off at a neighbour…. luckily I never had problems with neighbours and packages)
I think you are doing daffodils this week!
Ha! Indeed. Not on purpose though.
But while we are on to something, I may need to continue it. I havent worn Romanza in a while….?
Congrats on the job app!
Good luck with applying for jobs! I’ll be joining you in the job search soon!
Another super hot day! ? Feeling refreshed in Pacifica Mediterranean Fig.
Love that one!!! You smell so good! Yesterday I sampled Moonray the new Target exclusive Pacifica. It’s a pretty white floral.
Thank you! ?. I have to try the new Pacificas this coming weekend when I am planning a trip to Target.
??
I am braving the City later this afternoon.
Good luck with your trip to the City! ?. It is not pleasant outside for sure, but at least is better than yesterday!
Today was actually much better weather-wise for me. The rest of this week is supposed to be unsettled and stormy.
It wasn’t that overwhelming today. We are expecting isolated thunderstorms for tomorrow evening. It looks like the temps will be just in the 70’s this weekend. Fall is knocking on the door…
I’m doing some green after a diet of rather sweet perfumes for the past few days. Today I’m wearing Jean Louis Scherrer, edp. It is gorgeous and just what I was craving.
Category twins!
Trying out Solstice Scents for the first time w/ Chiffon and Rose Mallow Cream…will update later w/ thoughts.
❤️ Solstice Scents. Hardly ever mentioned in these here parts and underrated IMHO.
They are quite nice. I got the EDP spray samples but I wonder if the perfume oil has more oomph. They are both almost gone now and, not unlike you, I am a generous sprayer. ?
The Rose Mallow Cream was the winner of the two…sweet rose vanilla goodness.
Estate Vetiver ( which should really be called Estate Patchouli) is a powerhouse. Even with my scent devouring skin it lasts forever and smells amazing.
And I can share said Estate Vetiver if you wish to try it.
That Rose Mallow cream sounds wonderful.
Chergui just because.
You never need a reason to wear Chergui, you smell great.
This!
thank you!
Good enough reason to wear Chergui!
Continuing my summer of Perfumer H Orange Leaf! It happens to be the only one I have that (I think) matches the CP. Maybe I’ll just wear it for the rest of the week…
This morning’s tea was an iced cream earl grey.
Yes! Do it! I love wearing the same fragrance for days on end…. even weeks on end…and really getting to see the nuances.
Nope, they are 2015!
(Which is not to say you have to care, because of course you don’t)
Ah well. You’re right, I don’t care! 😉
Good morning Y’all!
Pulled out a bottle that I totally forgot about: SJP Born Lovely. Kind of a non-descript fruity floral opening, but it dries down to a lighter version of the original Lovely, which I’ve already loved. In fact, Lovely was one of the 1st bottles I ever bought for myself, when I fell down the perfume rabbit hole…..I’m enjoying this version!
Haven’t sniffed that one but love he original Lovely.
About to start an early morning training at work and didn’t want to gas out the coworkers sitting in the conference room with me. I thunked my sample of Essential Parfums Nice Bergamote (2018, I think). It is indeed a really nice and fresh citrus perfume. Reminds me of Cap Neroli, though I’ve only sampled that once.
Good office choice! I like that one.
I’m in the same situation at work today… one spray of Fresh Pomegranate Anise!
I love that one, but strangely, I like it most when walking outdoors at night in very cold but still weather. Of course, many offices seem almost that cold these days.
Thanks for reminding me of this old fav — I’ll get it out later today!
Good morning, folks!
Scent of the morning: Aqua Allegoria Pamplelune. It was a little too much for me first thing in the morning. I’m good with it in the afternoon or evening.
We always have lemonade in the house. And I have a good number of lemon perfumes. 🙂 I’ve been using a lot of the C.O. Bigelow lemon lotions, too. I’m sure I can manage to smell lemony all day in celebration. lol
Smelling lemony is a good thing 🙂
Hello! 🙂
I think so. 🙂
Have a good day!
I managed to smell nicely lemony for large parts of the day, between the C.O. Bigelow lemon lotion and the body cream.
Recently Robin put up a post about items imbued with fragrances from a niche perfume house. Was it Diptyque? Today I got a “steampunk vinaigrette locket” at A.C. Moore, put some of a sample of Serge Lutens Sa Majeste a la Rose on a bit of pink ribbon, and put that in the locket. The locket has perforations on the front. Now I’ve got a strongly fragrant jewelry sort of thing for a tiny fraction of the cost of the perfume house’s items. (lol)
The little “steampunk” pendants and such are by a company called Solid Oak, Inc. Now you know as much as I do. 🙂
Yes, it was Diptyque, and your version sounds perfect!
I love all things lemon!
Definitely a dog day of summer here, very hot and sticky with that humid haze over the ubiquitous corn and soybean fields. I’m wearing Zoologist Macque to see if that green cuts through the heat and if it doesn’t I’ll add some Jean Nate later on.
Jean Nate is perfect for steamy hot days.
I like Macaque a lot. You smell great.
I was looking for a William Gibson quote yesterday for Kanuka and came across this 1999 essay published in Wired magazine on his ebay obsession.
https://www.wired.com/1999/01/ebay/
Cyberpunk SciFi author Gibson was stalking mostly vintage watches, but those of us who have prowled ebay for vintage perfume may relate.
I didn’t get on ebay until 2009, ten years after this essay, and it’s fascinating to see how much the site had evolved in those ten years, and how much is fundamentally the same even today.
Gibson noted in a later interview that ebay had basically been replaced by Twitter in his life:
https://www.wired.com/2012/09/william-gibson-part-2-twitter/
I forgot to ask — were any NSTers on ebay back in 1999, and who else relates, or doesn’t, to his essay?
I was more an etsyer than an ebayer.
Around 2008, a friend used to send me examples of the most wonderful handcrafted silver jewelry on Etsy, but when I looked recently, I couldn’t find anything interesting. I don’t know if Etsy has really changed, or if my friend was just a whiz at finding things. What’s your perspective?
Etsy has really changed from primarily artisan to mass-produced. There are still creative and unique finds but one has to sort through so much fluff – sound familiar?
Yeah, echoing hajusuuri–there’s still good stuff on Etsy, but it’s reeeeeally hard to find amidst all the less good stuff.
Thanks for all the interesting links and fascinating aviatrix information. I certainly didn’t know about Ebay in the 1990s. I don’t think I discovered it until 2015. I still had dial up when I was doing my Phd in the 2000s and I recall the frustration of the long time it took to download any papers, articles etc. it was awful and I am pretty sure dial up Ebay would be similarly frustrating.
Yes, it’s no coincidence that I got in when my building got high speed internet.
Also, prior to that I was afraid if I got sucked into ebay, I’d spend a ridiculous amount of money, which was kind of true for a few years. And it all started with trying to track down the perfumes I wore in high school, etc. I still get a lot of pleasure out of my perfume collection, though.
I got onto eBay in 2009 also. I haven’t bought anything there for a few years, though.
Love his thoughts on collecting, and amassing knowledge on obscure subjects. Thanks for the links!
Yes, exactly! His thoughts on social media are so interesting, too.
Here’s another one:
http://www.watchpaper.com/2015/07/16/william-gibson-on-watches/
Regardless of what I wear, the nearby wildfires will have everything smelling like smoke. Not so close that I’m in danger, but enough for the local news to ask us to stay inside as much as possible. No dog walks around the lake for a while!
Went with Magnolia Nobile because it’s friendly.
Yikes, remind me where you are, Dorsey?
I’m in Anchorage, AK. It’s been a record breakimg heat year here, even even Alaska is burning, we know we’ve got problems ?
And Siberia, too — definitely not a good sign!
Ugh, I heard about your record heat and lack of rain on NPR this morning. Stay safe and I hope the smoke clears soon!
Thanks holyneroli! This morning was better than it was after work already, let’s hope it keeps improving!
I’m sorry to hear those fires are still burning! Really had my fingers crossed for a thorough drenching rain all across Alaska. I don’t regret my decision to not go to Alaska proper as I had planned for my summer road trip, but I’m so sorry to hear about the acres and acres lost, as well as all the animals and people impacted by the fires.
We usually talk about the world being on fire as a metaphor, but not any more!
I hope you catch a break soon with your fire season Dorsey.
Oof, that’s so scary 🙁 Hope it’s put out soon.
Hope your area gets relief from fires and the smoke soon.
What a lovely cabbage tea pot! Now I know it’s Tuesday.
I’ve been misreading this week’s CP–so it’s the brand that needs to be brand-new (pun intended!), not just the perfume. Well, then I don’t even know what brands to choose from. I don’t suppose someone posted a list yesterday?
I am in any case in an old scent from an old, barely-niche brand–l’Artisan Parfumeur Safran Troublant! My decant is almost gone and I regret not picking up a cheap bottle when they were plentiful online.
I haven’t been mentioning my fitness journey here because I’ve been tracking it using weight, which I know is a loaded metric, but for those who’ve been following along, I did want to tell you that things have been going well! Since I got serious about getting healthier six months ago, I’ve lost 20 lbs and gained a ton of muscle. The weights I now work with are 1.5x as heavy as they were in March, and exercising feels easier and more natural now than it did back then. Less like pulling teeth and more just like, I don’t know, doing the dishes. I move through life more easily now–my job sometimes involves rushing through a lab holding a heavy box of wafers, which has now become easier to do, and I can run up stairs faster–and all my pretty dresses from a few years ago fit again 🙂 My fitness journey will be literally endless; fitness doesn’t come naturally to me, so there will always be an element of forcing myself to move every day and to be careful I’m not eating a pound of mac & cheese too often. But these six months have done a lot of great things for my health, and going forward, I’ll be more focused on maintenance and strength building.
Ok, that’s all 🙂 I’m just proud of myself and wanted to share it with you! Thanks for being here for me during this journey <3
Good for you, Koyel!!! Keep at it.
And last I looked Saffron Troublant is still discounted online….just sayin’…..
Fragrancenet….100 ml….$56…..
Oh that’s awesome! I must’ve just checked on a bad week. Thanks for letting me know.
And thanks 🙂
Congratulations, that’s very impressive.
Thank you, Calypso 🙂
Congratulations, Koyel! It’s surprising how much difference some strength training makes in daily life, and that only multiplies with age.
Thanks nozknoz! Agreed about the improvements in daily life. And you’re right–it’s important for me to get into good habits now so that as I get older, I can stay in these habits!
All the discounters have Safran Troublant at very cheap prices.
Congrats on your weight achievements.
CM8 pointed that out above 🙂 I must’ve just looked on a bad week.
Good job you ? and I would keep posting your journey for us to celebrate along with you!
Awww thank you hajusuuri <3
This is awesome, Koyel! You’re doing great!
I identify SO HARD with your “fitness doesn’t come naturally to me” statement. For the past year or so I’ve been challenging myself to do at least 15 minutes of intentional exercise 5-6 days a week. At first it was SUCH a chore, but now I sometimes even find myself looking forward to working out.
Thanks, holyneroli! Good for you; that’s awesome! I don’t exactly look forward to my workouts, but I look forward to the way I feel after my workouts are over 🙂 I’m very impressed that you’ve gotten to a state where you look forward to your workouts!
Thanks for your kindness and congratulations on all you’ve accomplished! You are a total badass.
Thanks, Regina, that’s really meaningful to me <3 🙂
Good work Koyel, that’s very encouraging!
Thank you, ringthing!
Keep up the good work with your health & fitness goals Koyel! I can also identify with not always wanting to exercise. It’s an investment in being fit and strong for the future.
Thanks, Jalapeno! That’s such a good way of looking at it 🙂 We can help each other stay motivated when it comes to exercise!
Wow, great job, Koyel. It sounds like you’ve been really dedicated and motivated. Those are the hardest things for me when it comes to physical fitness. I should use you as an example to just take action already!
Thanks, trf 🙂 I’d be happy to help by talking about my incentives system or by simply encouraging you if/when you need it!
You know I’m sooo proud of your journey!!! And you smell so good! Hugs!!!
I do know <3 thank you for being there for me!!
I had ordered a bunch of things from Bath and Body Works over the past week and the first package came today. The funny thing is that somehow the FedEx guy made it to my front door, dropped off the package and left without my dogs going crazy. Not even a woof from them. Some watch dogs they are. Normally, if an ant walks across the street, they are barking. My second package will arrive by Monday. Sitting in vintage Shalimar extrait while dog sitting. My dad is having a colonoscopy today and my mom went with him. Post shower, it’s either going to be vintage BaV or Noontide Petals.
Your “doggie delivery alert” system sounds similar to the “kitty delivery alert” system I have. Mine only seems to work if a doorbell is involved, though. ?
Cap Neroli for the heat…
I’ve started a new knit project as a gift for my sister…cotton washcloths. I had to rip out and start over three times before finally making progress. For some fool reason I was using circular needles. I switched to straight, and it’s going much easier. I think they’ll be for Christmas rather than her September birthday…
I had never heard of a knit washcloth so had to google. Now I know! That’s a great gift.
There’s a free pattern on Purl Soho’s site that I thought would be fun to try. I may throw a little embroidery on them also. Not sure yet.
Another darling teapot!
Currently making a pour over coffee and may have added too much coffee! I guess I’ll be zinging around today?
Breakfast is in the instantpot cooking- more like brunch since I got up late-ish and then went for a 2.5 mile hike on the great trail system they have here.
Spritzed SB Gypsy after I got back so as not to attract flying critters while we hiked. Here’s a photo of last night’s sunset for those interested. It was a beaut!!

Amazing picture!!!
Nice sky!
Wow. That was beautiful.
Beautiful!
Beautiful!
Hello all-
1) A beautiful fresh late summer morning. You can feel the subtle shift of seasons.
2) Okay guys: I got half of my new kitchen cabinets…from IKEA. I decided to go with them just based on quality and ease of use. I do not have the doors and I do not have the appliances yet. But it is a start, and my garage is now full of boxes! Yesterday I had to stay home for the delivery, which was fine as I got the cleaning done and the garden properly weeded and watered. I will planting greens for the fall season this upcoming Thursday!
3) I am in Solar Bloom/Rain by Clean.
We don’t have Ikea in NZ but I have fond memories of Ikea outings in Germany and playing at designing kitchens etc. i hope all your parts fit together easily and you have fun.
Are you going to put them together yourself?
Hi! I will assembling and installing them myself. It will take a weekend after demolition but tge IKEA system is simple if you gave a laser level.
Good for you, and good luck! I have put together an awful lot of Ikea furniture but suspect a kitchen would be over my patience level.
Today I’m on-target for the CP wearing First Cut by St. Clair Scents. I have a tiny sample of it and am now thinking maybe I need the little bottle. So far the only one I bought was Casablanca, but this one is pretty wonderful also, and more refreshing for summer. Which, by the way, continues with a vengeance here until at least mid-September (also the peak time for hurricanes, touch wood, no big ones!).
First Cur is very nice. I have yet to try Frost!
I meant First CUT!
First Cur would be an interesting fragrance. 😉
Maybe like puppy breath?
???
Ha! Good call!
I adore First Cut but for some reason always associate it with the late summer/early autumn (which I know makes no sense!)
I loved your cake photo yesterday but was enthralled by all of your fur babies! Too cute! How many of them are there?
13! It’s down because I lost the two oldest ones this spring.
Wow!!! They are all beautiful! I have really enjoyed the photos.
Wearing Mon Ame from 1907. It’s probably a lesser known brand and perfume since 1907 is from Slovakia.
Mon Ame is a quite exquisite iris perfume with a lovely dose of retro chic and glamour.
Thanks, Lucas — this sounds worth looking up!
I think it is 🙂
SOTD – Parfums de Marley Athalia, very pretty floral iris – been around a while, nothing to do with the CP.
Book of the week – after distractions galore, finishing listening to Michelle Obama’s wonderful book, Becoming. Really good on so many levels. This woman has a razor eye for details, a sharp mind for analysis, and a kind heart for wisdom.
Knitting Project of month – cute floppy cardigan all done in Garter stitch with some really pretty shades of pink yarn called English Rose by Malabrigo. It’s wool and it is washable, and it should knit up fast. You start at the sleeve cuffs and make two body halves which you join in mid back, then knit a broad bottom skirt , then knit a placket which forms the collar and finishes the front edges all the way from one hem to the other. Did I say all garter stitch? Mindless knitting of big swatches with a pretty color – I love it.
My office mate is back. Many hands make light work. I am going to take next Monday and Tuesday off.
What a wonderful day you are having!
Your knitting project sounds beautiful!
The local library copies of “Becoming” had hundreds of holds on them. Mom finally got one of the library copies and is about midway through.
Yes, the knitting project sounds lovely. Although my grandmothers both knitted, and Dad’s mother was quite a seamstress, I didn’t learn handwork. I got into a variety of hobbies, mostly dealing with collecting things. 🙂
Wow, I really need to read that now. What a great description.
Enjoy your time off!
Hi friends! I miss you all so much. I am in Still Life in Rio by Olfactive Studio today and I’m loving it. Great summer scent.
Move is in full swing. The movers come tomorrow to pack everything and then they load it up and haul it away on Thursday. This is my last full week of work (I work two days next week) so life is crazy right now. I just try and take it one day at a time. We go to West Virginia next weekend to visit family and then as soon as we fly back to NM we will load up the truck and camper with what we held back from the movers and head to California. Pray for my sanity. I’m a detail-oriented control freak so some of the things that are out of my control are making me crazy!
I remember liking Still Life in Rio, it was a nice scent.
Good luck with the move!
Thank you!
Oh, moving! I’ve done it a lot. My condolences, and take deep breaths. It will be over soon.
Deep breaths are keeping me sane right now! Well that and an occasional glass of wine haha!
That’s one of my favorite summer scents. You smell great 🙂
Good luck with the move!
Wow. Things are happening fast. Good luck with the last days of work and the move. Have fun visiting family! How’s Nacho taking all these?
He’s completely oblivious and fine haha. He’s a good boy and just goes with the flow! As long as he has good food and someone to pet him, he’s a happy camper. ?
Good luck with moving and readjusting to a new town.
Thanks so much!
Good luck with the move! Wishing you a ton of sanity!
Need all the sanity I can get! 😉
Wow, that was quick! Wishing you safe and easy travels to your new home✌?
Nope, not long at all! The hubs has to start the new job on the 16th so it’s al happening fast. Luckily the new location offered a great relocation package that is helping us out a lot.
Egads, that sure didn’t take long. Best of luck with the move and your relocation! ??
Thank you!
You smell terrific KellyC!
I actually ended up thunking this one today and found myself wishing I had a larger decant rather than just a sample. I could see wearing it a lot.
Good luck KellyC…enjoy your last bit of down time before the move.
Thanks so much, Robin. Super grateful for this corner of kindness you’ve created! It brings me peace.
Ahhh so exciting. Have a great move, and welcome (imminently) to California! <3
Chypre Mousse today, still love it. I blind-bought a split of Areej le Dore Koh-i-Noor and wow is it a scrubber. I liked all the notes it’s supposed to have, but the sum of the parts is just ick. This will be going in the swap pile.
I love Chypre Mousse – you smell wonderful!
That Koh-i-Noor really packs a punch, doesn’t it!
Nice teapot! Need to look for the green!
SOTD = Parfums Dusita Splendiris
Sweet fluffy pillowy soft iris. For a few minutes, it reminded me of Puredistance Opardu. I have the travel spray and it looks and feels luxurious. Today, I wore 5 sprays and it is now a skin scent; next time, it will be 8. I may need a full bottle and will pounce once I see a good deal.
In other news, Mugler responded to my email and will be send me a sample of the Ambre Les Exceptions. Wahoo!
Ok, please tell me where you would find a deal on Dusita?!
Deal for me comes in several forms:
– straight % off discount. By chance, I got a 20% off deal fro LuckyScent for Neela Vermeire Mohur Exrrait. I must have searched for, added it to my card. Removed it from my cart, added it back in so many times that I think the LuckyScent bot took pity on me and flashed a one-rime only discount code. I may do the same technique wirh Parfums Dusita.
– as far as I know (but I did no research on this) LuckyScent seems to be the only one that carries this line. I always check to see if the GWP is worth getting over the free shipping.
Wow 20% off Mount extrait?! That’s pretty amazing! I still think about getting a bottle of that one….
Mohur* of course.
Let me know if you figure out what the magic 20% off trick is, I am still owed a bd gift from dh.
Oh I’m glad they are sending you a sample! I feel like they are advertising this one through email more than the last one. Fruity something.. I can’t remember
And I got confirmation that I will get it in 6-8 business days – wahoo!
How many iris perfumes do you have hajusuuri? Have you ever counted them?
Errrrrr…nope, never counted them … maybe one of these days in the very distant future ?
(And the teapot is also sold in white, which I liked best but not best for a picture.)
I’m always so impressed by al of the scents you know/ are familiar with!
Ginger Ciao is my sotd. Love that teapot!
Oh, I love Ginger Ciao!
Who makes ginger ciao? I love ginger in perfume. Do you have other good ginger scents?thanks
Yosh. It’s an all natural brand. On me it has more of a tropical vibe than a ginger one.
Thanks for the info CM
The only other ginger scent I know is Origins Ginger Essence. Guerlain has a new Aqua Allegoria Ginger Piccante but I haven’t tried it.
I smelled it and it is good. And I’m getting a bottle, just sayin… I am sure I am getting % off on this one and will offer some up for split!
Why does this not surprise me?
??
^. ^ ears pricked up….
Oooo of Ginger Piccante?! I am so in on that split. I’ve been dying to try that one.
Beautiful perfume! I can’t decide if I prefer it in hot weather or cold.
I’ve never considered trying it in the cold. Must do that!
There are a couple of NZ perfume brands, or NZ associated brands (Abel) that have helpfully sprung up in time for the CP: Abel, Curio Noir, Queenstown Perfumier, Mea so today I am in High Country Tussock by Queenstown Parfumier. A natural perfume, sheer but with a nice pollen aspect. Still cold in these parts with morning frosts but I saw a lamb yesterday and the willow has started to sprout green leaves so we’re getting there.
I love those signs of spring!
Rain, blessed rain! It’s raining in Houston and I’m so grateful! ?
Tea is iced, a mix of decaf + Moroccan mint + stevia.
I’m in at least 15 spritzes of Gucci Memoire. I like it well enough, but it’s quite muted. Nice chamomile and musk. It’s unusual for mainstream, for sure.
I did 20 spritzes in Sephora yesterday and it lasted all of five minutes. Smelled like celery to me…I didn’t dislike it though 🙂
Hurray that you are getting the rain you want, Nanvyleandros! I’ve been trying to send mine somewhere else all summer.
Enjoy the rain!
I’ll be wafting Suleyman le Magnifique from Fort and Manle. According to Fragrantica, tbe house dates from 2015 and the perfume from 2017 so not too far from the the theme.
My favourite F&M name is “Confessions of a Garden Gnome”
That IS an awesome name!
Me2!!
Liquides imaginaires Tellus. Smells like earth and patchouli, a bit goth and skanky. Perfect for a rainy and gray day.
Just got some decants , so j am wearing Adam Levine for bed. Dinner was zucchini fritters with tomato salad, all from our garden. Still searching for new zucchini variations, we had soup, stuffed ones, pasta, risotto, salad, fermented zucchini. Any other ideas?
Have you made spaghetti out of zucchini, or is that what you meant by pasta? I am far from a zucchini fan, but a vegetarian friend got out the spirolizer and it was quite OK.
Our neighbor is keeping us supplied with lots of zucchini too. Tomorrow I am going to make a crust of shredded zucchini, eggs and Parmesan, baked; topped with tomatoes, mushrooms, peppers, onions and mozzarella; then baked again. I think I’ll cook the tomatoes and mushrooms in olive oil with lots of garlic, just to get most of the moisture out. Too hot to use the oven today.
What do you think of Adam Levine perfume? I’m curious.
I’ll send you some…
Your zucchini recipe sounds really good!
Cake. Same recipe as carrot cake but with courgettes. And quiche…blue cheese and zucchini.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/courgette_and_caraway_84359
I heard a story on NPR recently that due to the expense of avocados, some restaurants are substituting zucchini in guacamole, and that it’s surprisingly good and hard to detect!
https://www.npr.org/2019/07/19/743599313/why-taquerias-are-making-guacamole-without-avocados
That is so interesting! Makes me want to experiment.
Grilled zucchini are delicious! So are roasted ones. ?
Was going to say, “I’d like to wear Adam Levine for bed too” but decided it was too scandalous to phrase it in such a way. 😉
Tried the new Gucci at Ulta today cuz it got mentioned here yesterday. I agree with others that it’s unusual for designer fragrances. I think I like it. Not sure.
Will be in Coromandel later for a party and expecting to get some compliments for it as usual. I almost always get a positive comment every time I wear it
Which Gucci is it?
Memoire d’un odeur. Chamomile centric
Hope you enjoyed your party!
Bottega Veneta for me today…
I’ve missed this one!
So pretty.
Perfect beach day today. A girl can dream 🙂
Great perfume to match what sounds like a great day. ?
You smell fantastic!
Floragal you are really making me want to pull out my decants! There have been some extra mentions and great praise for it here lately.
You smell terrific!
I’ll have a dream beach day with you!
Seeing that teapot reminds me of an odd thought that crossed my mind last night. Given that cabbage comes in different colors, why don’t Brussels sprouts? I would TOTALLY eat purple Brussels sprouts!
SOTD = back in Belle d’Opium. Keeping it simple for Tuesday. Getting more incense today along with the fruitchouli.
I would eat purple brussel sprouts too! But then again, there’s very little that I wouldn’t eat ?
I should probably mention that I currently eat and enjoy the ordinary green Brussels sprouts. Purple ones just sound really cool.
They DO come in purple! I saw them at fresh market last week!
Interesting! Maybe they will show up at Wegman’s some time.
If it shows up on Dr. Oz, Wegmans will carry it. The latest craze, and Wegmans has multiple end caps with this stuff, CBD!
Purple Brussels Sprouts would be so cute!
It’s been a lousy day. I started out in Shalimar Souffle, halfway through the day switched to Carnal Flower. Now I want to wear something else, but can’t think of what. It’s going to be storming soon, I think. There’s a new line at Sephora called Floral Street. Anyone familiar with it? It’s online only, so no testers.
Yes! Floral Street has been on my radar for a while because cassieflower kept talking about it on Australian Perfume Junkies. The Ylang Coffee one interested me. Sadly, I couldn’t find it at my local Sephora. Might have to go into the city to try it. But I also noted there’s a sample set that’s reasonable.
It says online only. I might order the sample set, idk.. a few of them caught my eye, including the ylang one.
Sorry to hear that today was lousy for you lillyjo. I hope that tomorrow will be a better one for you.
Oh no! I hope it’s ending on a good note!
Not sure what else you ended up wearing but I think you smelled great in the Shalimar Soufflé and Carnal Flower!
