It's Tuesday. Birthdays today: Emily Brontë, plus Buddy Guy turns 83. What fragrance are you wearing?
Me: still on pretend vacation, this time in [an indie brand that can count + an essay you were assigned when you went back to school in September]. Tea at the moment is Harney CTC Assam.
Reminder: on 8/2 we're doing edition 3 of the Guessing Game...describe your perfume to us, OR, give your perfume the name it ought to have had, and we'll see if we can guess what it is. Suggested by Glannys.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2019, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: The Penguin Books Wuthering Heights mug is £8.99 at Penguin in the UK.
Support treatment for a broken berry?
A broken berry might be Pulp but that leaves out the support.
Nope, that’s not the one!
Still noodling on this one…
Juniper Sling!
We have a winner!
Nice going! Ain’t gonna lie, I’ve been thinking about this clue most of my day ?
Robin, I’m gonna say you’re wearing 4160 Tuesdays What I did on my Holidays.
I was coming to guess the same, except I didn’t remember the exact name of the perfume. That’s gotta be it!
Of course I am!
A reinterpretation of a part of Eastern history by a French perfumer and one of the best interpretations of this particular flower. Not fierce like yesterday but quietly commanding.
You are drinking rather downmarket tea, aren’t you Robin 😉
Mohur?
Mohur, Neela Vermeire?
Guerlain, Nahema?
I really am!
And good for you!
One of my favourite summer beverages is a rather trashy flavoured green tea by Palais des Thés called sweet sorbet, containing mango, pineapple and flowers. They no longer make it unfortunately.
Oh, that sounds good too!
Mohur extrait de parfum it is.
From my brand new bottle!
It is a lovely day in May, and you are walking barefoot in the forest enjoying the soft green grass under your feet. You pass the trees covered with ivy and moss. Then you come to the clearing and see a lot of tiny white flowers in the grass, like scattered pearls from a broken string.
Début? (parfums DelRae)
No.
Other greens that crossed my mind, although I’m struggling with the addition of white flowers are; Perle de Mousse, Dryad and maybe even vintage Diorissimo.
Yes, it is Perle de Mousse!
White flowers are lily-of-the-valley. I was intentionally a bit misleading, but its flowers are white, tiny and bloom in May.
Then you smell really great. Unfortunately it’s no longer made, a shame it was a really nice line of fragrances.
Thank you!
Really? It is still on Ann Gerard’s website. What a shame if it is discontinued. I am only starting to fall in love with it.
I think she has gone out of business. Her online shop no longer works and the line is no longer carried by a lot of e-tailers that used to do so.
Yes, I cannot open the webshop, and her main website does not work well. Pity.
Just got a note today that Delrae has closed her shop 🙁
I was suspecting that was bound to happen. Such a shame as it was a great line. I never got round to trying Wit or Coup de Foudre.
Wit is probably my favorite of them all. Really is a shame.
I recently discovered Perles de Mousse as well and it would likely have been my next full bottle purchase if it were still being made. So beautiful and a little outside my usual comfort zone.
It gets close to the line where I could be uncomfortable in it but never really crosses it. 🙂
What a lovely description!
Thanks. I was inspired by Laila’s gorgeous description of her SOTD in the last year guessing game. She does it better.
I’m wearing an early morning fragrance from my sample stash, given to me by a very generous person from one of the freebiemeets.
Seville a l’Aube? Petit Matin?
It is Petit Matin.
Miller Harris Fleur du Matin?
Promesse de l’Aube?
That was my guess too.
Right now- Guerlain Idyll Duet Jasmin Lilas
Tonight- “Inspector Gamache” (another Guerlain and hajusuuri will know the answer)
Is that Arsène Lupin?
Santal Royal? Samsara?
Yes!!!! Because I am still doing the house of Guerlain this week! And while my middle aged tiny body is still able to haul downed trees to the top of my property my middle aged MIND is not so great at coming up with riddles for this week ;
but I am going to try!!!!
I truly am impressed with what you can do psycially! I barely want to pick up fallen branches.
No choice…home ownership ?
Iris Ganache?
Well I’m not hajusuuri, but it’s Iris Ganache, right?
Heh! Samsara and Gladys posted the same above!
ding ding 🙂
I thought it was a play on his name!
Samsara was my gateway Guerlain.
I splurged yesterday on By Killian scented lipsticks. I really wanted a red, and their matte reds are gorgeous. Donatella would approve right?
Guessing game should be easy. I am wearing a rose base fragrance and it’s also a novel by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos.
Kilian Liaisons Dangereuses. You smell merveilleuse!
Ding Ding
Thank you!
If only this house wasn’t so expensive..
Do you have any favorite BK?
Those lipsticks are gorgeous. What color did you get? Is the case weighty? I love a lipstick that feels heavy.
Hi Flopper!
The case is weighty but beautiful, elegant and I feel very chic when I put it on.
I got Dangerous Rouge, in the matte because I feel like it lasts longer on the lips. For the price point, you want it to last! HA! But the shiny ones could be nice too but I wasn’t interested.
I would say that I am fair with pink undertones and like more pink based reds. They do have some orange and bright ones. I also tried the “classic’ colored red they sell that would be my second choice.
The small is neroli and maybe a hint of vanilla, similar to their Love perfume.
Hope this helps.
The smell is neroli not small !
Yes thank you! I was reading the Violet Files the other day about red lipstick, and I got Chanel Gabrielle, but I think I need a darker color.
I think the photo on the BK website for the color is spot on, its darker pink based red
Ordered! And I get a perfume sample also. Exciting!! Thank you will report when I receive it!
That is exciting. Let me know how you like the color.
What sample did you pick?
Looks like Good Girl Gone Bad, it was automatically added to my cart.
I’m wearing the roller ball oil form of a fragrance I bought on Saturday out sniffing with a couple of NST regulars (hugs to TheRabbitsFlower and SmellySmello – lots of fun!). The fragrance (so the story goes) was inspired in part by African culture and contains a root that I sometimes have trouble with, but am enjoying here.
I’m a bit worried that my roller ball is not functioning quite correctly, but otherwise I’m thoroughly enjoying my purchase!
IME it’s very easy to pop the roller out of rollerballs with tweezers. Then you can decant the bottle.
Yes, but it’s a very nice bottle and I paid enough for it at Nordies that it should work correctly! I’ll go back and discuss with them if needed.
Must be Bal d’Afrique?
Yep!
You smell great!
Dazzlingly sweet candy floss soaked in sunny soapy neroli 🙂
Orchidee Vanille?
no but that’s a good one!
Love, don’t be shy?
nope, but i prefer your guess to what i’m wearing haha
And the World is Yours?
I like that one, but no-
It’s a new scent, and words in my description hint at the name.
Sundazed?
Ding ding ding, we have a winner!
I’ve spent the morning cavorting with a crate of congers…
Since I last traveled by air in March I decided I was DONE with my miserable, outdated, horrible luggage and have been on a mission to replace it. (Mission is now complete.) I’ve also bought all manner of travel accessories to make packing and traveling easier and more efficient.
I bought this: https://www.potterybarn.com/products/mckenna-jewelry-travel-case/?pkey=cjewelry-boxes-displays&isx=0.0.2070.5 thinking it would either be a functional travel jewelry box (I’m 5’10” and my jewelry is proportional to my size 😉 ) OR that it would be the perfect travel perfume box.
I packed it up with perfume yesterday and it is indeed the perfect travel perfume box. I fit a couple of minis, 2, 3 & 5 ml decants, and some 7 & 8 ml travel sprays (the Atelier one’s a bit too long but fits diagonally.) I won’t have to worry about them getting crushed in transit, and can keep them stored upright in the box when I unpack.
I also bought this: https://www.ebags.com/product/kelty/cache-box-small-string/374855?productid=10778634 , which ought to arrive tomorrow. I’m hoping it’ll work to put jewelry in since the other box is now full. It looks pretty brilliant to me – a small hardsided case seems really handy but I’ve not seen too many other options that are this size and are more or less empty inside. Stuff like this often has too much built-in organize-y stuff that ends up making them less functional. (Especially for jewelry. I wear big cuffs and chunky rings and necklaces. They don’t fit in boxes that are designed for dainty items.)
Nice travel choices. It really makes a difference in my travel having a decent bag and some packing cubes. I like your travel perfume box idea as well!
Everything’s on spinner wheels now, and I LOVE packing/compression cubes! My whole system is so… cubical (? surely there’s a better word, not sure what it is.) It’s what got me to thinking that I needed hardsided cubes for delicate items. I usually put my perfumes in a little bag and stuff them into a shoe (which has always worked fine) but this is a little upgrade. And I like the idea of being able to store them together once they’re unpacked.
Oh, and I just got your clue! Hahahahaha
It’s gotta be the easiest one of the day, right? 😀
Box of Eels…….oy.
Packing cubes changed my life…also deciding that most of my clothes will be the one style of top I have in a million colors.
For perfume and jewelry (separately), I use a dollar store hard plastic pencil case and I just use two rubber bands to form a cross to make sure they do not open in transit.
Ah – clever on the pencil case!
I’m an evangelist for packing cubes, especially compression ones. I also keep the little round cases my cheap earbuds come in for small things.
Smelling great today! ?
We have the same taste in jewelry 😉
Today’s my first day back at work after a camping trip that was fun, but left me more tired than before I went. The weather was beautiful until the last night, when we rode out back-to-back, small-but-fierce thunderstorms in a leaky little tent. Suffice it to say, I still haven’t caught up on my sleep.
I’m not feeling sharp enough to come up with a clue for the guessing game, so I’ll just tell you that I’m easing back into the week with Alyssa Ashley Musk after a mostly scent-free weekend.
Just reading this is making my back hurt 😉 I hope you recover soon!
Nothing makes me feel more elderly than sleeping on the ground, lol. My achy joints! Probably time to upgrade my sleeping pad to a proper air mattress.
Ugh, hope you get tons of rest tonight! My husband just said we ought to try camping again, and I said I don’t think so.
Ha! I am confident those words will never come out of my husband’s mouth. I so love the idea of camping, though!
I have always loved the idea! Just not the heat and bugs, and gosh, seems like it ALWAYS rains.
Ambre Mythique. It’s working nicely in the heat.
The bottle is covered in stars; no flowers shine in these constellations.
VCA Midnight in Paris?
something in the Hermes Merveilles series?
Correct – the original! Eau des Merveilles.
I love the guessing game but don’t have time to play. A 12 hour work day for me and it’s crazy already!
Paris-Riviera thanks to the split from hajusuuri! I love it. Does anyone have any of the others from that set they’d be willing to send me samples of? I pay! 😉
Hi KellyC! I’d be happy to send you those Chanel samples. Just ping me at: harukirumi in the land of yahoo.
I empathize about your work schedule. I frequently get stuck working long days too.
I love guessing game week! You are all so clever.
I’m wearing a lemony lemon gentleman, from a distinguished French family that also includes a Madame (pretty) and a Miss (attractiveness level not specified).
I just got a little bit of the vintage, to compare it with the reformulated version that is my very favorite lemon. I’m wearing one on each arm today. I’m finding that the original has more candy-lemon sharpness, and lots of herbal lavender, so the overall effect is more bitter, as opposed to the musky smoothness of the reformulation. Unusually for me, I like the new one better! I am not a big lavender fan. But both are great.
Monsieur Balmain?
Yes!
Monsieur Balmain. I am in the pretty Madame today.
Quite right and you smell divine!
I’m in HdP 1826, a ladylike citrus floral. It will fade a bit by the time I go to the dentist for the first stage of the first of two crowns I need.
My dentist had a questionnaire with some of the following:
Would you like TV?
What channels?
Blanket?
Earphones?
Pillow?
Answers: yes, yes and yes! ?
I like the questionnaire! My last dentist had all that stuff (except the pillow) which helps tremendously. She had the cheapest cable package, though, so not many channels to choose from. I’d always end up watching one of the shopping channels, which I found utterly hilarious. Watching someone try to come up with an hour’s worth of descriptions for a gold watch, jeggings, or powdered foundation cracked me up.
Are you doing both crowns in one day? Even one is rough. I’m a major clencher, though, so the worst of it for me is a sore jaw for days afterward. Prescription muscle relaxants helped.
I liked it, too! I’m just doing the fitting for one crown today. Not sure I could take two in one day. I’m actually wondering if I’ll make it to the gym tomorrow. We shall see.
I hear you on the clenching! I wear a night guard, which is in bad shape from all of the grinding.
I usually ask dentists if I can listen to my headphones, then play an entertaining podcast. So much better than counting the hygienist’s eyelashes
Oh, that’s smart! I’ll remember this next time.
House twins! I am in 1969 today, a blind buy decant arrived yesterday and I love it.
Yikes on the crowns. I have developed a late-in-life fear of the dentist… sending you good juju today!
Hey, house twin! Thanks for the good juju! ?
The last dentist I had, before I started going to my local dental school had tv’s but only the local channels. It was either trashy talk shows or boring soap operas. I hope the dentist appointment goes well.
Thank you, Dawn! I know you’ve had a trying time with dentists recently.
I hope that your dental appointment went well today!
It did go well! My breath still smells of Eau de Clove, but I can live with it.
What a beautiful sunny day! And our heat wave has broken. Even the cat is happier.
Sledgehammer week continues. This scent is the only one that has earned me disapprobation from the general public. I maaaaay have worn quite a bit of it, and I’m certain it was the target of an overly loud conversation about how all perfumes should be banned. 🙁
Anyway, this scent is from a house that many of you love, but I don’t; I’ve seen it described as the scent by house ‘X’ for people who don’t like house ‘X’ and perhaps that is true, since it’s the only scent from this house that I own. This house is prone to issuing Man / Woman versions of their scents, and my SOTD is a Woman… her Man was so forgettable we hardly ever mention him here on NST.
House is Amouage?
Perfume is Honour?
Correct house!
Epic?
Nope. There are more clues to the name in my post 🙂
Myths?
Nope
Is it really? Today is cloudier up here than any day in the past >month. (But I am pleased that today should be cooler!)
I do keep explaining that life is different up here at 2000 ft 🙂 We are above the fog today.
In the SUN hint hint hint
Well, then it must be Amouage Sunshine Woman.
Yeah, you’d think I’d have learned after the time you sent me photos of your house covered in SNOW. 🙂
YESSSSSSSS! We have a winner!
That explains it. I like a lot of Amouages but mostly their older ones. I only tried Sunshine once but I do remember that we were not really besties 🙂
Ha! And Sunshine Man is one of the few Amouages I like 😉
I’ll guess Lyric
Nope
Dear friends, I miss reading the SOTD posts! I don’t work as much in the lab anymore (too much to do, so I have help from lab techs who run most of my experiments for me), which means I don’t have those little 10-minute blocks anymore that are too short to do useful work but just the right length for some Internet reading. I hope you are all well.
Here are some hints about what I’m wearing, for people who have read my posts and have great memories: I’m wearing something I’ve been wearing a lot of lately, from the house I wore more times than any other in 2018! A scent I love in extrait format but dislike in all other concentrations.
Here are hints for those who don’t remember my perfume life (and how dare you not?!): a gardenia scent for people who don’t much care for BWFs, rounded out with some grapefruit and lemon and clean rainwater green. Created by a master of his craft who I think has retired, and who has definitely retired from the house at which he was resident nose for an era.
Jour d’Hermès?
That’s exactly right 🙂
I read “a scent I love in extrait but dislike in all other concentrations” and thought you were talking about Miss Dior. Then I read on, and was flummoxed.
Ah, your memory is good from my comment on Angela’s Miss Dior review! Yes, there are a few scents that are like that for me 🙂
Surrender
Dorothy 😉
This made me laugh, thank you.
My sotd is a summer favorite, but is also very nice in the winter. A couple of nsters have recently purchased bottles. You might find tiffanie wearing it on a Wednesday.
Terracotta?
Yes!
Terracotta?
And yes again!
Mmm, you smell great. I Terracottaed my bath last night and it snuck little fingers all over the house….
You smelled wonderful today lillyjo!
Good Morning!
1) Am in Solar Bloom by Clean (no one would be able to guess, honestly) This is a very nice scent for summer.
2) Overcast and cooler this morning, but we will get a lovely blue sky this afternoon!
3) Wowzers! Where did July go? My garden is doing well and FINALLY the peppers and tomatoes are setting fruit to ripen. All the herbs, squash, cukes and greens did well (except the basil!) with the onslaught of heat and sunshine. Eating LOADS of salad, made with lots of green goddess dressing.
PS: Nordstroms Annual sale is here until Aug 4. There are specials on scents! A really lovely deal is Terre Hermes for $108- you get a full size bottle and a travel size. There is also the Coco Madamoiselle set of a full size bottle with a very pretty lipstick, for $122. There are loads more.
I’m picking up my CSA share tonight and your garden talk is making me very excited for it 😀
Shame about the basil though.
1)It’s crazy! Every other herb- chervil, parsley, cilantro, shiso, lemon balm, burnet, borage, tarragon, thyme, mint, rosemary, sage, mustard, nasturtiums- did extremely well- WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE BASIL.
ARGH!
2) The CSA is gonna rock! Eat every bit- a lot of love and work went into it!
First offering from the house. White, green, natural.
That is what i have on today.
Oh! Hiram Green Moon Bloom!
My fragrance has some serious history as it was launched the same year that Rod Stewart released “Maggie May.” It managed to marry the headshop faves of the ‘60s— patchouli, sage, chamomile, and sandalwood with fit-for-the-office aldehydes, rose, and oakmoss. I didn’t discover it until the late 90s, when I was shopping for gifts one late winter afternoon in fancy gift and “spa” shops in Bethesda, MD. I remember the store perfectly. It was a salon and “day spa” that sold face, hair and body products, as well as make-up. The shop had a vaguely clinical feel, so I was shocked and a little horrified when I tested this perfume—not at all what I was expecting. But then it grew on me, and now it is one my comfort scents.
Aromatics elixir?
YES~!
Btw, love love! The Maggie May reference ??
I love Aromatics Elixir too and definitely find it comforting! I wore it in the late 1970s. Have you tried vintage? I am wondering how much reform has changed it.
I haven’t tried the vintage. Even since the 90s the perfume has changed. No doubt the reg changes on oakmoss have impacted the scent. It is still fun, but not as crazy good as it was in the 90s. I do not know what it was like in the 70s, but now that I am thinking about it, I bet it is what my aunt wore in the 70s. I remember thinking that it reminded me of her when first tried it.
You have inspired me to test it next time I am in the department store! thanks for that 🙂 I bet your aunt smelled divine when she wore it.
I’d like to hear what you think about the current version of Aromatics Elixir. I may have sniffed some ages ago, but I’m not sure.
You can drink my SOTD which is from a well known french perfume house.
Poison?
That was my first thought about a drinkable perfume lol!
Ah, good guess but no.
The drink isn’t lethal and is good on cold days.
Guerlain Philtre d’Amour?
Another good guess, but still no.
Just looked up the description. It sounds lovely.
Tea for Two? The Pour Un Ete?
You’re getting warmer. ?
A tea scent? Imperial Tea by Kilian?
It is a tea scent
Assam of India?
Nope…
Mimosa Pour Moi?
Fou d’Absinthe?
No and no. ?
Wrong house.
Osmanthe Yunnan?
That would be my guess as well.
The house is not Guerlain or L’Artisan
Gin Fizz, Lubin
Bulgari Au The Vert?
Or Imperial Tea from By Killian (lots of good things to drink on a cold night in that house’s line-up!)
Fou d’Absinthe?
The Pour Un Ete?
Oh, wait – that’s not it. Hmmm.
All great guesses. The house is Guerlain adjacent.
Something Nicolai
Well, yes…that is the house Bear but what is my SOTD? ?
Fig Tea?
YES!!! PHEW!
You guys are awesome! ?
You need a nap now!
Yes! I would love a nap.
I need a nap now lillyjo!
Wow, lots of guesses for your SOTD Petunia!
It waa fun!
That was fast. I ordered Kiehl’s Original Musk Blend no 1 Saturday night and it arrived on my doorstep this morning. Am I wearing it now? Nope, SOTM is Ubar. Still not quite cool enough for it to be an all day thing. I have been watching CSI New York on Amazon Prime and it’s a pity that is was cancelled. I think that people got bored with it and all the CSI shows. I am on the second season and the story lines do seem a little rough. It doesn’t really delve into personalities too much right now. I think that Sarrasins will be the post shower type of perfume.
Sounds like you are enjoying your vacation!
My perfume today is named after an iconic 60’s movie.
Stab in the dark, Dolce Vita?
You win, enjoying it today after so long.
Yay!
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang??
Petunia had my answer first.
🙂
You crack me up, lj? That would be an awesome perfume name, though!
Bahahaha! I WOULD TOTALLY BUY THAT
Ha! I loved that movie.
Same here and it’s a great name for a perfume.
I loved the movie!
Me too!
I’ll share the bragging rights with you. ?
Has anyone done a Google search? For all we know, someone has already put out a Chitty Chitty Bang Bang perfume.
This is my absolute favorite of the flankers of this sunny, citrus- forward day perfume.
Jour d’Hermes Absolu?
You got it! ?
Cap Neroli or Monserrat?
Rats… didn’t see the flanket…
No, but you sure know my summer wardrobe ? I wore Monserrat over the weekend and Neroli Intense last night (I don’t have Cap. Yet.)
Idylle Love Blossom?
No, and I’ve been neglecting that one this year. Lilac was so last year for me, lol.
I’m wearing my newest purchase from my shopping trip with springpansy and smellysmello this weekend. I posted about it kinda late on Sunday. I’m wearing this perfume in the opposite season per its name.
Maybe L’Eau d’Hiver?
Yes!
Cap Neroli?
Oops!
Orchestra starts to play and a girl in orange dress starts her fiery dance.
What perfume am I?
Flamenco Neroli L’Orchestre!
I cheated 😉 kinda
That. Is. Correct.
I’ve never tried White Diamonds before and I saw a bottle for sampling so I sprayed some on. That’s a pretty big white floral lol. But mostly it’s big aldehydes and it’s kind of too much. I don’t mind aldehydes but this is aldehyde extreme. Lol. Reminds me of number 5 a little bit, but definitely number 5. This scent is very soapy the aldehydes are a little bit too sharp.
I saw a Buddy Guy live once it was a pretty good show. My date could have had some improvements lol. I did enjoy Buddy’s Sweet Tea album. It’s a pretty good listen.
*definitely prefer Number 5
I never saw Buddy Guy live, wish I had. He is still playing though — the New Yorker did a piece on him this year.
I’m not far from Chicago and he plays this region pretty often at blues festivals and such. He’s definitely still got it 🙂
Nice to know!
Wearing Anyway.
Fresh and summery!
Yes to holyneroli – my SOTD is Moon Bloom.
Did anybody hear about Parfums Delrae going out of business? I just got an email, and of course one of my absolute favorite perfumes, Bois de Paradis, is sold out on their site (as are all of their scents).
is that the house that does Wit?
It is.
Any details on why they are calling it quits?
Yeah, mentioned above. Shame.
Lilac perfume often described as a “rich lady perfume”.
In other news, a POX on Wholefoods Market and its Amazon Prime Members SAVE marketing ploy.l! First of all, I do not go there to save money because many of their items are more expensive BUT I like their fresh produce and their extensive prepared foods selection; however, if I can get more for less, why not? So, on Sunday, I walked past the refrigerated cases past Produce and my peripheral vision was alerted to big yellow signs on the upper left corner of every other door: Amazon Prime Members SAVE 10% !!! and in smaller font “on yellow tagged sale items”. Ok, so I was game to look for these “bargains”. I looked up and down and from one end to the other end – there were no yellow tagged signs anywhere. I flagged down a worker and she could not find anything either, so I demanded to speak to the manager because it was false advertising! While waiting, I decided to look again and sure enough, in a dark dingy corner at the very bottom shelf, there was a row of yucky looking pickles in plastic containers looking like they were deader than dead past their prime (of course, no pun intended). The worker came back with one of those scanner guns getting ready to scan each item (you have got to be kidding me). I held up a SPEAK TO THE HAND ? and said never mind, I saw the disgusting looking pickles on sale thanks but no thanks and I stormed off! Grrrr!
Opardu?
We have a winner!
You had to know I would get that reference.
Your pickle story is halarious. They went to a lot of effort. ?
I chuckled at your story. This ‘bargain’ is ridiculous.
As for your scent, Gucci Guilty?
?
And Petunia guesses it – it was Opardu
*guessed
Whole Foods is neither the most expensive grocery store in Cleveland, nor the one with the best produce. I’m kind of happy not to have a reason to go there anymore. (In Seattle, they had the best bakery, but once out of the city that was not the case – which I never understood. Different products at different stores. Wha?)
Amazon grocery delivery used to be fantastic. Now it sucks balls.
hahahaha! yes it sucks, no need to ask me how I know as it is clear you already do. 😉
Opardu is seriously one of the prettiest perfumes I have ever smelled.
Boo to false advertising!
I love your retails stories so much haha.
*retail
What did Whole Foods sell a couple of years ago in the prepared foods sections that caused an uproar? It was a juice or water or something and a high $$ to boot.
Asparagus water!
Gotta admit. I like the Whole Foods near us. Prices are often no worse than anywhere else in our neighborhood (especially in their house brand), and I do take advantage of the sales, including deals for Prime members…have fiend good ones on fish. I use the app to see what’s on sale to see if it’s a worthwhile visit.
I love our WF 🙂 We go regularly!
grrr indeed! every year I get a little closer to giving up Amazon Prime.
Argh. Every year I am madder at Amazon in general, and more dependent on Prime.
I can find some of the best chocolate bars in my area at Whole Foods, but haven’t ever taken “advantage” of the Amazon Prime specials. ? The prices on the chocolate are on par with Wegman’s.
Sad news I learned a moment ago.
Parfums DelRae is closing after 19 years 🙁
that is sad news. Parfums DelRae has a special place in my perfumed heart.
Thundering out! And yet (!) blue sky, and sunny. Looking for a rainbow…
SOTD: L’Eau à la Folie
Oh, that’s a good one. Waft my way…
There have been some very scattered showers this afternoon. None were near me, but all the airports in the area have crazy flight delays as a result.
Inspired by Angela’s article yesterday, I’ll be wearing Miss Dior, and looking forward to reading everyone’s comments tonight. I’m in more of a rush than usual this morning.
You introduced me to that perfume. Keep warm today
PSA: Fragrancenet has a few ELDO 100ml testers going for ~$50, with the 37% off code GPYA37 it comes to a little more than $31.
Also, Saks coupon that works on beauty/fragrance: STYLESF. $50 off $250 or $100 off $500 or $200 off $1000.
I’m not very creative so I can’t think a witty way to describe what I’m wearing. Love reading what everyone comes up with. SOTD is Vetiver Tonka.
Who needs creativity when you have psa’s! ?
Hideous weather, sleety cold and wet without the pleasure of snow and I am chilled to the bone from being out on the hill. My SOTD is a good woody pudding that keep reminding me (during drydown) of Feu d’Issey so I must check the notes. Costume nationale 21
I know it’s bad out, if you can’t find anything good about the weather! Spring is coming your way???
UGH! Sleet is some of the worst possible weather. I hope it leaves your area quickly.
You smell great despite the yuck weather!
Song of the day is “Black Magic Woman” by Carlos Santana.
With that as a clue, what is my SOTD?
Magie Noire?
Yep, it is Lancome Magie Noire! And I am in love! ?
Superstitious?
Nope, but good guess!
My SOTD has a strong tendency to morph.
Chameleon, but what was yesterday’s answer ?
Good one!
Yes, right,
Yesterday was Arquiste, The Architects Club!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! (I actually have a decant of that–well I gave it to my son…. I was never gonna get there.)
Total guess because I haven’t smelled it, T-Rex?
SotD = 4711 + Eau de Fleurs de Cedrat
All citrus, all day! It’s been a warm afternoon. I’m getting things done at home with the AC off. Lots of paperwork and life details that need attention after time away.
Returned Sunday after going to the beach with a large family group for a week long retreat from regular life. Took as many perfume bottles as I dared. Turns out the magic number of FBs is 9!
Eau des Merveilles
Iris Ukiyoe
Vanille Galante
Hiris
Assam of India
Vanira Moorea
Infusion d’iris EdT
Cologne du 68
Terracotta Le Parfum
It’s nice to travel by car and not worry about packing for a plane ride. 😀
Hope everyone’s week is shaping up nicely. Looking forward to more fun and games as I try to guess perfume names. You clever perfume people are fascinating.
So glad you got to get away for a bit!
Happy Birthday to Buddy a Guy! I am a huge fan.
SOTD is By Killian Love & Tears. I am also a huge fan of this also.
