Tuesday. Paul McCartney is 77 today. It’s also International Picnic Day, International Sushi Day and Autistic Pride Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Guerlain Cologne du 68, and drinking a cup of organic Colombian tippy black tea, brewed with a chip of cinnamon.
Reminder: on 6/21, mark the solstice by wearing your favorite fragrance of summer (or winter) 2019.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2019, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Continuing my big white florals for the CP.
Today its the gorgeous Songes.
I love Denyse reviews over on Grain de Musc Songes “This is a huge, fleshy scent, almost oily in its creaminess, but it wears softly: white flowers divested of their diva attitude, relaxed and lazing in the sun.”
… That sums it up for me.
Tea is a cup of Bois Cheri this morning, and now one cup of Yorkshire gold tea that a friend gave to me and I do not like it. I will give the rest away. Tea fail for me..
I have a cute thrift store outfit today, high waisted chloe shorts and a no name tags ripped out tank top with beautiful bead work around the breast line..
I’ve been wondering when Songes would make an appearance!??
I did two HUGE sprays, so you can probably smell me from wherever you are in the world 🙂 😉
Ahhh, Songes – such a beauty. Two HUGE spreays? I can smell you from SF for sure and you smell goooood!
Ha!
WOOOOW. Girl, you smell magnificent! That is a BIG white floral! And your thrift store outfit sounds awesome!
Thank you..there are some good thrift stores in the city
When Songes is mentioned, I always think of you. ?
That is a good association, for me, and thank you!
I do as well! ?
Songes is one of the few BWF that I love. You are smelling and looking good!
Smelling and looking great!
OK, it is officially summer now if you are wearing Songes. ??
Tea is Assam of India.?
Coffee is half caff in the French press.☕️
I love french press coffee..
The look of the french press is very elegant also
I love French press coffee too. We converted a few years ago and now I can’t believe we used to drink coffee any other way. The flavor is just so much better. I also enjoy the whole ritual of making it.
I have both a french press and a manual espresso machine. My favorite to make in the french press is the new orleans style coffee.
there is also zero waste which is a plus
French press coffee is so delicious, and the flavor profile is better. Enjoy!
Yum, french press is awesome! And I love chicory blend coffee in the french press!
I’ve been meaning to experiment with making tea in our little French press. The hubster commandeered the big one, which is fine. I’ve been off coffee for over a year now, but I do miss that luscious, non-bitter Fp brew…
You smell great!
Le Labo Ambrette 9 sprayed lavishly. Very comfy for a dark, rainy, muggy day.
Lavish spraying is definitely needed with that one. You do smell lovely!
Thank you! I love it, but it is indeed very fleeting with low projection. I am about to finish the full bottle and will not look for a replacement, unless one falls in my lap.
This weather is the pits! But you smell great ?
Thank you!”?. It is awful outside.
I hope that there is some clearing up in your forecast!
Wearing Zoologist Hummingbird today for the CP and because it smells so good! Reminds me of summer fruit with cream although that may be more my reaction to marketing than the actual scent 🙂
I can relate!
I like that one. You smell good!
I’m wearing a summer favorite, 4711 AC Melissa & Verbena.
I have’t heard of this one
Hello All
Been reading comments late at night, so have not commented for a while. Springpansy: so sorry about your doggie. Jayda : glad your hubby’s safely back and I hope your son has a wonderful Grade 8. And congrats on all the birthdays! Wearing Paco Rabanne La Nuit at home, but absentmindedly sprayed twice instead of one small spray. Definitely getting spicy horseflesh at the moment!
welcome back!
Thank you! Enjoy Songes!
Thanks. Nice to see you back. And spicy horseflesh sounds…interesting.
Ha! Spicy horseflesh!
Despite the hot sunny day, I decided to hell with it and I’m wearing Micallef Denis Durand Couture, a heavy sweet spicy scent.
I’m feeling crabby about cooking failures. The last three things I’ve made have come out poorly. I’m about ready to pitch The Joy of Cooking. Their recipes seem to have a lot of issues. For someone who already doesn’t love cooking, putting in all that effort only to end up with a dud really exasperates me.
I used to cook a lot. Even attended a French cooking course. I used to pour a glass of wine and focus on cooking (sort of cooking-as-meditation) and it was great. Then work got crazy and life even more so, and now I shove things into the oven and steam veggies. The thing is though: no one has even MENTIONED that they missed my cooking. They’re boys (big and small) and I think they’re just relieved that they don’t have to try to remember to compliment me on the food. I still love to hear what Tannina and everybody else is cooking, though. So, if you don’t feel like cooking, don’t.
I used to cook a lot as well and now I hardly ever cook. However, I still know how to make everything I used to make and never followed recipes.
Thanks, today i made lentil curry with rhubarb, was not bad, but next time i use less rhubarb. It was a little sour…
I would give up, but I’m tired of eating cereal and pancakes and I don’t like eating in restaurants. Plus I’m a really picky vegetarian with a dodgy stomach. I’m going to switch cookbooks.
I have no idea where I heard this, but I read somewhere that many of the JOC recipes weren’t actually tested. That seems like heresy, I know. I have a copy of it, from the 80’s, but almost never cook from it. I use it as a reference book from time to time.
I can sympathize! Recipe fails are so frustrating.
Well that makes sense!! Time to move on to another recipe source.
Maybe its time for a new cookbook
Definitely. I hate it when a recipe has surely not been tested (looking at you, New Basics). Julia Child’s recipes are definitely tested; as are Maida Heatter’s. I like James Peterson’s cookbooks (but not his perfumes [Brooklyn Perfume Co]). Smitten Kitchen recipes are pretty reliable.
I had no difficulty cooking a wonderful cassoulet from Julia Child’s cookbook. Thanks for the recommendations, I will keep trying.
I like Nigel Slater a lot. Interesting food, mostly not complicated and he writes like a poet. Sometimes i just read his books for his prose
my recs:
Mark Bittman How To Cook Everything
yes to anything Maida Heatter
also anything Marcella Hazan
Thanks! Will try those cookbooks.
I got Ottolenghi Simple for Christmas, and have cooked 25ish recipes from it so far. Everything has been great. My husband has asked for repeats, which hasn’t really happened before since we met in 2003.
I remember being in a bookshop once when someone was going on and on (loudly) about how every meal was prepared and cooked with love and I replied that, in my case, every meal was cooked with resentment and I was yet to find even one cook book written for people like me. A stunned silence followed.
Ha! I love this!
?
My mother would agree with you! She loves baking, but hates cooking dinners.
My mom would have liked your mom… my mom always said people claim to like cooking but they don’t really. They like to bake. I think it was more that she found cooking dinner every night to be tedious.
Me too! I love baking. Unfortunately I can’t survive on cookies and cakes (more’s the pity).
Ha! When I was young we had Peg Bracken’s I Hate To Cook Book, and I learned to make 1 meal from it, and made it every week, once a week, for YEARS. (My mother worked, we were all supposed to cook once a week.) I could still make it in my sleep.
Were you my sister?? That happened in my family too!!!
We had that book too! My dad got home before my mother finished work and we all pitched in with the cooking. I loved the recipe for “Cockeyed Cake”!!!
I made “chicken rice roger”. It was perfectly edible if rather suspect nutritionally.
This is the recipe, and yes, it looked pretty much just like that:
http://www.ragingbibliomania.net/2010/11/weekend-cooking-i-hate-to-cook-book.html
We actually used chopped onions, from a bag of frozen chopped onions we kept in the freezer. I don’t even know if you can still buy those. And we often added a can of peas, and then that was the vegetable! Oh well, we all lived.
I never tried Chicken Rice Roger but it looks delicious and I think I will when I want some comfort food! Let’er Buck was another yummy one!
LOLOL!
That’s excellent ?
LOL! I resent cooking as well. Hours of preparation and cleaning for 15 minutes of eating. And half the time it comes out lousy.
I am a grumpy cook at the best of times; however, I have turned the grumpiness around with Molly Gilbert’s Sheet Pan Suppers. The recipes are straightforward and pretty good. There’s a pan to scrub, but that’s about it for a downside.
One pan sounds great! I’ll check it out.
Definitely time for a new/different cookbook!
Day Seven of vacation and I am commando so far. Brought several small decants and the remains of a small bottle of Mediterraneo with me, and so far this week have participated in the CP in SMN Eva, CdG Kyoto, Eau de Hadrien, Chanel Cristalle and SSS Pacific Forest. Today will probably be Chanel Eau de Cologne, because I’m saving Mediterraneo for a long day in the car tomorrow with a real estate agent who is helping us with our retirement dreams. Still a ways to go on that, but since we’re up here (in the San Juan islands) we wanted to do some recon. The weather has bern perfect so far – mornings overcast, clearing to sunshine for the long afternoons, and moonlight over the water every night. Absolute heaven.
Nice picks, SheriG! Best of luck on your search. ?
I went up there once to visit a friend, and we all restes at the top of a little hill after tromping around for a while. It was an early summer day, with the sun, breeze, and water all around. Heavenly. The air smelled to fresh!
Enjoy looking at real estate! And enjoy that amazing weather!
Wow, the San Juan Islands would be an amazing place to retire! Enjoy your time there.
SOTD is NR for Her EDT. Used to wear this all the time when I was seeing a guy who said he liked it. I don’t know if it’s really me, though I am still fond of it.
I adore NR for Her, both versions. Have you tried the body cream in the glass jar? It’s spectacular.
Oh I bet the body cream is great!
I was in a department store because sale 😉 And now I am wearing three scents
1
Guerlain, Insolence edp
SA offered me a sample and a spritz on my wrist.
Not my cup of tea, too sugary. It smells like candy and lipstick.
2
Chanel Paris – Riviera
Spotted it on the Chanel counter. Its NEW! So of course I wanted to try this.
It turns very sour on my skin. Urgh, after an hour I get public toilet + air refreshner. Not good.
But i think this has te potential to be a nice fresh floral/citrus if it works with your skin chemistry.
3.
Chanel No 19 edp
Standing at the Chanel counter I soon had this feeling Paris-Riviera juice was not going to work for me. So just to be safe I grabbed no 19, at least I have something good on one arm hahaha 🙂
Ha!
I tried the Paris Riviera one- which should have been one I liked(neroli + jasmine listed as notes). NOPE.
I also sprayed it on a card, on cardboard it is nice but quite generic.
I really like the bottles they use for the Eaus though. Minimal, but still somewhat cosy.
Still working through my sample. Only once did it click for me. Otherwise I kept getting cheap hand soap. I almost bought it blind! (Chanel and neroli, what could go wrong?)
I did blind buy it. I haaaaaaaaaaaaate it. It’s cheap orange laundry musk on me. Wah!
I once accidentally bought an orange scented cleaning liquid (i dont know the correct word but you know the stuff you clean bathrooms with).
Thats what it also reminded me of at a certain stage. 🙁
Oh no! Hopefully you can move it off. Sounds ghastly.
that is a lot of scents!
It is a lot. And they are all quite different.
In the drydown, Insolence keeps that sugary vibe, but hindsight its quite captivating. Even though its waaay too sweet for my taste. I think I could like this scent on someone else, but not on me.
Paris-Riviera after 6 hours turns into something quite okay actually, a bit salty and warm, with a hint of vague sun lotion, like skin after a day on the beach. But still not good enough to compensate for the part where my skin decided to turn it into a sour reeking mess.
And then there is still no19 edp. Still fabulous, letting her hair a bit down after 6 hours 😉
I love Insolence – violet hairspray and candy! LOL.
ah yes hairspray!
…and it smelled so familiar.
I thought long and hard and I bet my mother had a bottle of Insolence years ago.
I will ask her today…. 🙂
Olivier doesn’t impress me much.
Nope. Well. Okay he has made Dior Homme, right? Whenever I catch a whiff of Dior Homme on the streets I just have to smile, it makes me happy. So i thank him for that. I cannot wear it myself, because its so sweet.
And I think I may just like it because its the anti-Axe/CoolWaterFreshcalone-scent so many guys are wearing haha
Shame about Riveria. I’ve been searching for it in every big city I stop in but haven’t found it yet.
Your #2 made me LOL!
You are Reeking Havoc today!
I tried Riviera last week, and I liked it at first, but then it started to get on my nerves. I washed it off.
I had Venise on the other arm, and I liked it better.
I’m wearing Terracotta. I was nervous about this purchase because I had only sampled it a few times, and in between samplings I could never remember quite why I loved it so much… anybody else have that, where your mind can conjure kind of the general outline of a scent but not quite the specifics? Anyway boy am I glad I bought it. It is the tangy-fruitiness in the heart that brings it all together into love-true-love for me.
It’s a great one
I can’t believe I still haven’t tried Terracotta. I should put it on my wish list for the next swap meet.
If you are in CONUS, I’m happy to send you a little decant/sample. I’m on gmail, user name eabrit.
Thank you!
You’re making me want to try that so bad!
YES, have that all the time! And I almost wore Terracotta today.
Terracotta is a gorgeous summer floral!
Hi all, my SOTD is Le Labo’s Bergamotte 22, lovely spicy/green citrus.
Spin class @ 5:30am
Double – Mocha, cause I can. Wish the cafe had ice cream to go with…
😀
Scent twin! It was mentioned yesterday (by whom, I forgot) as being a “happy” scent, and I was inspired to pull it out.
It is very happy, I don’t wear it often enough…
Oof! I was supposed to my Pilates early this morning but my trainer is down with a cold! 🙁
Ohhh, that’s a bummer. Those summer colds are no fun. I found a Youtube channel (Jessica Smith) that has great Pilates classes, for free. And she has a very cute French Bulldog. Link below…
https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=jessica+smith+pilates+workout
ah, you want something like an affogato?
Yes, that would be delicious! I do love affogatos. Now that I’ve crossed the Rubicon (over 50, *cough cough*), I do need to watch my sweets a bit more.
I’m so extremely impressed with your spin class at 5:30 AM. I am getting up at 5:30 AM to be at work by 6:30 AM tomorrow and Thursday but I am EXTREMELY salty about it haha.
Spin class at 5:30? Omg you’re brave. I’m barely in my body at that hour.
Today I am wearing Dusita Fleur de Lalita.
I love that one
You smell great! Its one of my favs from Dusita (havent tried them all though)
I just ordered a sample of this. Looking forward to trying it!
Happy Tuesday!
1) This week will be rather comfy weather wise- highs in the 70s(21-23C). Huzzah!
2) Am in Prim Botanicals The Body Oil, which is rather lovely to wear on it’s own as a scent (and moisturizer!) It is a spicy, creamy yet elegant jasmine scent. It radiates when you apply (after shower or bath) and is a skin scent after. You can spray other scents on top, but this is a nice skin scent for summer on it’s own.
3) My Tiffany rose, which I planted bare rooted, is now showing little rose buds! And my other roses are leafing out. Marvelous!
That body oil sounds good!
Enjoy your weather! We’re slated to get to 96 degrees on Thursday. I’m dreading it already. ?
Just got back from a doctor’s appointment with a prescription. Not exactly happy but I didn’t need to get jabbed with a needle this time. I wore Jicky EDT even though I wanted to wear Ubar. When Jicky fades, I will put on Ubar.
Two of my faves!
I had a decant of Jicky, alas, it is all finished but I kept the little bottle from a generous NSTer and smell it every now and again
Golly! Ping me at ann dotty eisenberg attagirl comcast dottie net
I can send you some (edt)!
SOTD is Prada’s Infusion de mimosa, one of my summer favorites. Forgot that I wanted to try Van Cleef’s Gardenia again. Ordered anyway ???
Hope you will love it!
Thank you, it didn’t last long on me last time I tried it, but I don’t mind that so much nowadays.
Forgot to tell you that I loved your anecdote that your husband carried a copy of The ciderhouse rules and was therefore mistaken as a reader ?
AdP Magnolia Nobile
You smell glorious! I adore this one in the heat of the summer.
Thank you 🙂 It took me a long time to buy a bottle of this because of the price. I love it so much and I am glad I finally bought this last year.
That’s on my wish list. You smell great.
I’m drinking Love Potion, a black tea with dark chocolate, cinnamon and maple syrup. I’m almost done with the 2oz bag, but will need to force myself to use up other teas before I reorder this gem. Does this strategy sound familiar?!? ?
I’m wearing 4711 Lime&Nutmeg, from our fabulous pixel and her recent splits. Good stuff, Maynard.
wow..that tea..where is that from?
The Cultured Cup, in Dallas. Wonderful place and stellar customer service.
I have ordered from there. I think Robin mentioned them once as a place to buy MF tea
They have a nice selection, including the rose one you recommended a couple of month ago. I’m not affiliated, but wish I was.
That tea sounds yummy!
It is yummy. My daughter-in-law turned me on to it, which I appreciate, even if my credit card does not!
Gosh, that tea sounds fantastic. I’m also not allowed to buy any more tea until I use some up, sadly :-/
Sounds like we’re in the same boat. Glad you’re here to keep me company!
I had to bookmark the home page for The Cultured Cup after reading the description of your tea! Wow! ☕
Not yet in perfume. Was just settling down to read a bit of NST in bed this AM—an hour before my usual morning “commute” to my home office for work, when a Skype call ring erupted from my computer in the next room. It went on and on, so finally I dragged myself to my desk and answered it. Two folks in Washington and one woman in Beirut (all colleagues) had been on a conference call chatting about an email I sent yesterday with a thumbnail sketch for a symposium in September. Could I please describe my thoughts in greater detail? So, barefoot and in my nightgown, my coffee too far away on my bedside table, I managed something. All I know is that now I am supposed to turn my thumbnail into a concept note on feminist approaches to climate change mobilization.
Yah. I crawled back into bed.
Still. Need that 20 minutes of cozy warmth and thinking about perfume before I can face a long day staring at a keyboard and a stubbornly blank screen.
I’m thinking Mohur for the morning ablutions, when I finally manage to drag myself out of bed for real!
The necessity of a perfume cone of silence….I start my day sitting in bed with coffee and NST and I dread any disruption . I need that hour of thought gathering, too. Good luck with your climate change thumbnail.
What an interesting concept! Do report back if it becomes reality. We need all the approaches we can muster
Did you decide on Mohur?
Haha! I went with CdG’s Stephen Jones!
Wow. I’m impressed that you were able to talk intelligently when thrust on the spot like that. Especially with no coffee nearby!
Hopefully it wasn’t a video call at that hour! I was still sitting in my nightgown when the Fedex man showed up this morning. Managed to hastily throw on some clothes and get to the door but it was annoying.
Rozy edp to coordinate with the roses that bloom everywhere in June.
Going down to NY on Sat if anyone wants to meet up for sniffing
I haven’t smelled this one but I am sure you smell great
I wish I could go!
Have fun!
SSS Equestrian on a drizzly grey day.
Have the temps calmed down up there?
Yes, in that it’s no longer in the 90’s?? Overall though, it’s been warmer and sunnier than I was expecting. Really beautiful in fact!
I hope you, the hubs, and Nacho enjoyed camping your new trailer- she’s a beaut!! I used to have a dog named Salsa, so pretty sure she and Nacho would have been fast friends! ?
Maybe Equestrian will be revived when SSS returns?
I can only hope, because I will snatch up a 30ml bottle in a hot second!
Heeley’s L’Amandiere and Iris de Nuit, second chance for both samples. The former goes in and out of uncomfortable almond territory for me, which I perversely seem to enjoy on occasion. Teetering on the edge of ambivalence, I suppose? The latter is just meh on my skin, but I find that some iris perfumes can do that and then reappear later.
Thank you again to everyone who commented on my sampling drama post yesterday. I really appreciated your input!
Isn’t it both funny and strange that sometimes a weird and uncomfortable scent is what we want to smell? A perfumed “courtesy sniff”, if you will.
I’m glad you get it, Jalapeno!
Since it’s a rainy morning albeit not monsoon level rain, I went with Hermes Un Jardin Apres la Mousson, one of my summer favorites. Back to work with my broken toe taped to its neighbor toe and wearing the widest shoes I own, a stretched out pair of Toms that are fall/winter shoes because they’re a wooly fabric on the outside. I may need to go shopping for a pair of sandals wide enough to accommodate my taped toes. It doesn’t help that my feet are already wide.
Yesterday got even rougher because my boss called me at home to let me know she gave 3 weeks notice and will be moving out of state to where her husband works. Her husband lost his job early 2018 and ended up taking a year long contract in a different state. They ended up offering him a position to stay on, so she’s moving to where he is. The three other people in my department and I don’t think they’ll hire for her position and instead may split up our dept. So there is a big mysterious cloud hanging over my work right now. I will miss my boss on a personal level, but my whole team and I have had mounting issues with her the last 6 months. I now see that her attention was even more split than we realized – she said they bought a house in her new home state in April, so she’s been working on her move for a while.
wow..that is a lot of change for your boss and for you. At least you smell good…
Yes, thank goodness for smelling good. Perfume helps keep me (mostly) sane.
Poor you with the toe, hope you will find the perfect comfy sandals, and you smell great and interesting, La Mousson is quite unique.
My bf is facing a similar situation at work – his boss is also leaving and he expects it will cause some turmoil within his department. Stressful times. I feel for you both!
Stupid work strife! I hope things go ok for your bf.
Birkenstocks are always a good option. They also have good support. I broke my toe in the 80s and did not wear the right shoes pointy toed Mias and the like) or tape my toes. Probably why it’s slightly deformed ?
Sorry about all your work uncertainty, too.
Ahh good idea about Birkenstocks. I’ve been thinking of getting a pair anyway. In general, I prefer not to show my toes, but it might be worth it for a pair of Birks.
I hear that. I’m pretty particular about how my toes show in sandals.
They have the close-toed clog, too. I used to have them and they were super comfortable.
Seconding the Birkenstock clogs for comfort! I have two pairs of them.
You smell so good!
I hope your toe recovers quickly and that the clouds hovering over your work will disappear soon.
Sending good vibes your way for both your broken toe and the drama at work. Hugs.
That sucks, having to deal with work drama on top of your broken toe. Good luck!
I hope everything will turn out well. It’s always the uncertainty that’s difficult, because there’s no real way to move forward until you know what you’re dealing with. You smell wonderful.
Thanks for the kind words. The toe didn’t feel too bad today, and I’m sure work will be fine.
SOTD is Bois d’Hinoki from Masakai Paris, a light figgy woody scent. Quite nice if a bit light. Would be good for work.
Woot! All my work meetings got cancelled today!
Robin, I am blocked from NST on my work computer, but not on my home computer. Mysterious.
Ummmm. Maybe you shouldn’t be reading NST at work? (Said in my most uptalk voice 🙂 )
Also, bonding with you about the Riviera Chanel. I really never ever buy full bottles blind anymore because I simply cannot afford misses. But the Chanel had to be a hit, right? I knew something was up when the Chanel sales clerk encouraged me to wear it all day before making up my mind! Haha!!
Well, that is mysterious — what happens when you try to load NST from work? Have you ever tried to load it from your phone at work?
I love that minimalist set, Robin it looks so restful.
In Jo Loves Red Truffles, my only Jo Loves and an unusual and lovely fig, but a very odd name, can’t wait for really hot weather to see how it behaves then.
I liked the Pomelo when I sniffed it
Oh yes, I think Pomelo is her most popular scent, another really good one is Green Orange and Coriander which I gave to my brother for Xmas.
I love that set too. I especially love the coffee pot, but even when we drink coffee we do not use a coffee pot.
Heeley Note de Yuzu which works nicely in the humidity. I’m really getting the steam effect. If I owned a bottle I could see this being a summer fave.
I just bought coconut and yuzu beverage from TJ. I feel like yuzu is having a moment
I agree about it having its moment. I see it in a lot of dressings, sauces etc. when eating out.
I don’t have a clue what yuzu smells like. I’ll have to look it up!
Sort of grapefruity. I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference, lol.
Definitely a citrus smell. But it’s kind of its own thing, too.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a yuzu in person.
Pretty sure that I’ve smelled yuzu in ponzu sauce before. And I may have seen fresh ones either in something like a Whole Foods or an Asian supermarket ages ago.
Sample of The Harmonist Yin Transformation which I now recall came from dear Hajusuuri with my Chanel 1957 split. She always sends good stuff in her packages!! This one is more floral/musky than Guiding Water. Still not really my thing.
I liked that one, but not enough to wear twice. I passed my sample to a friend who I thought it was more suited for.
Warmish and partly cloudy today. I’m wearing No.5 L’eau as a summer favorite. I can’t smell it though, because right before I left for work I decided to clean the bathroom. I smell like bleach. What was I thinking?!
You were thinking that you wanted the bleach stench to dissipate by the time you come back home and need to use the bathroom! Right? Hope you stop smelling like bleach soon; bleach gives me such a headache, but it is just such a great cleaner >.>
The good news is you will come home to a clean bathroom!
I’m sure you smell great, even if all you can smell is bleach. L’eau is a summer fav of mine too.
You were thinking of your obnoxious boss and hoping that the bleach gets her to leave you alone today?
Ha! Fortunately, it’s her day off. Let’s see what I can find for tomorrow ?
I love that tea set. I would need a second home, one without clutter and family members, to do it justice. Yesterday my walk on the hill was illuminated by moonlight, and it was beautiful…the moon setting over the city and harbour as I walked down. Moonlight patouchli again.
So funny but I had similar thoughts on the tea set! Oh well….
LOL — even the family would have to go?
Maybe you could just have the teapot and NOT do it justice 🙂
It would solve the cooking problem (see above) and cut down on housework…but I’d end up without internet because my first response when anything goes wrong is to curl up in a ball…so, you know, swings and roundabouts.
I’m in Micallef Gaiac today. This is a favorite for a go-to, low-key, office-friendly, yet still interesting to me fragrance.
Le Dix! Sun is trying hard to stay out today. All of our cool gloomy weather doesn’t feel like June. ?
Our June moved right into July — hot and humid here today.
I put on the last few drops of Ellie Nuit by Ellie D today. The bottle is tiny and cute, so may not get thunked right away. I do have a back up bottle, since it is a favorite of mine.
I love that one, too. This is almost the only fragrance where I like fig, even though that’s probably not the main point of the fragrance.
I’m not sure it’s still available anywhere? Do you know?
I was wondering if she was even still making it.
I’m going for a warming amber today, Thameen’s Amber Room.
Today I ventured to try a little bit of perfume on the back of one hand (still suffering from my skin rash problem). I looked in my drawer for something nice and found a pretty big sample I purchased eons ago of SL Santal de Mysore. It’s gorgeous! I missed being able to smell myself yesterday when I stayed commando. (Sounds odd but I’m sure y’all know what I mean.)
I know exactly what you mean! And the back of my hand has become the place where I usually apply perfume first, and sometimes the only place.
Camelia Chinois by Maitre Parfuneur. A fresh and herby tea scent. Good longevity too. Still undecided for my favorite summer scent, winter scents are easier…
Tomorrow the boyfriend and I are having our fifth anniversary, so we celebrate a bit.
Happy Anniversary!
Happy anniversary and I hope everything goes well with his treatment in the next coming months
Happy anniversary to you!
Happy Anniversary!
Happy Anniversary! ✨?
Happy anniversary!
Happy anniversary! It’s our fifth wedding anniversary this Friday too, although we’ve been together for 18 years. We figured after 13 years it was probably going to work out. LOL.
Good grief, friends. What a week already. Our big customer is in town for meetings, so I’ll be getting up and arriving to work at 6:30 AM to set up. Going to be a crazy week. I’m smelling good today in Orris & Sandalwood. Yesterday was in Orange Sanguine.
My hubs is in California for a job interview. He wasn’t looking for one, but a recruiter called him and it’s lead to an in person interview with the company. I don’t really want to move, I love NM, but it’s kinda his dream job so it would be hard to turn down if they offer a decent salary increase (considering the cost of living is higher in CA than NM). My nerves are shot, honestly. I’m trying to just be chill. Please send me positive vibes that whatever is supposed to happen happens. 🙂
Positive thoughts to you KellyC. I hope whatever the outcome, that it is the best for you.
Oh…where in California?
Palmdale, outside of LA. Not exactly a vacation spot haha. I’m adventurous and not afraid of moving obviously. I don’t know, just the thought of me having to find a new job and start over in that aspect is less appealing the older I get haha. But he has always wanted to work for this division of this company so it would be hard for me to dig in on not moving and deny him this opportunity. So I guess we will just see how the interview goes.
Thinking of you. One hour at a time is the best advice I can offer! Been there on the job/move front. It’s not easy – I will hope for the best outcome for both of you!
Sending positive vibes, KellyC!
Wow. I feel like you guys just moved! That’s gotta be a challenging prospect. Well, think of the perk- you’ll be that much closer to Scent Bar!
Exactly! It’s been less than two years! I’m his defense, like I said, he wasn’t even looking they just reached out to him but still. Ugh. I’m definitely trying to think of all the sniffing I can do in LA that I just can’t do here in NM!
Good luck!
Good luck, KellyC. Sending positive vibes!
Positive vibes sent! Hope everything works out in the best possible way for all involved. What would Nacho think of a move? You may need to consult him…?
Nacho says he just goes with the flow. ? He’s happy with anyone, anywhere!
But seriously this dog has no loyalty. He would have went home with any camper we ran into this past weekend!
Good luck!
Wow. That is a tough situation to be in. Positive vibes, and I hope that your situation works out for the best. ??
Sending positive vibes to you. I guess one benefit of possibly moving there is that you could visit Scent Bar regularly?
I hope it works out for the best, Kelly.
Sending you calming vibes for whatever is most right to happen for you.
Hope it will all come out fine for both of you
No rain today, but the muggies have rolled in with a vengeance! Yeuck! I guess that summer has arrived a couple of days early.
International Sushi Day sounds wonderful. I will wistfully sigh over that. My favorite Japanese restaurant closed a couple of years ago. On the plus side, the people who ran it do have some other restaurants in nearby towns. Maybe sometime soon? ?
SOTD = Wrappings times 2. Both the EdP and the lotion today. Take that, summer muggies!
Glad you didn’t get any rain today. It has been raining cats and dogs here the whole day. Soooo muggy! Summer is knocking on the door already!
So it naturally rains after I post! Doesn’t it just figure?
You smell good!
Thank you KellyC!
It’s pretty muggy here right now. I just tell myself that dew points are better than wind chills, lol.
Regarding the Ellie D, I see it still at Luscious Cargo (no affiliation), but I also wonder if it is still being made.
Thanks!
Woop! I coincidentally had brown rice sushi at lunch!
SOTD = Chanel No. 5 L’Eau
Perfect for summer and really, every season. One of these days, I’ll take a picture of my entire L’Eau collection and post it on IG. Today, I posted my red bottle and a random pair of earrings.
I know what I’m wearing on Friday!
You’re smelling great!
Thank you!
The (Lunch) Force is Strong with this one! ?
LOL
Twins!
Great minds!
How many l’eaus are there?
Just one. My collection, in order of acquisition:
50mL – I settled on this size because 100mL was too big
35mL – very cute
Set of 3 travel sprays – why not?
100mL – red bottle and this is the only size
Hand cream
Shower gel
My name is hajusuuri and I have an addiction ???
?
And an awesome collection!
Aloha Tiaré, given that it’s warm and humid and rainy. Lush, tropical seemed right.
Saw The Dead Don’t Die, the new film by Jim Jarmusch. Husband wanted to see it…he just finished up going to a series of Jarmusch’s films the past couple weeks. We both enjoyed it…more than the reviews led us to expect. Parts were really quite funny. Deadpan. Certainly better than the Jarmusch one my husband saw last night. His text after that movie said, “Well that was a glacially slow pretentious bunch of hooey.” ??
I love lush, tropical scents!
I want to see that!!
Which did he see last night?
I wore Wood Sage and Sea Salt today because I was going to training and didn’t want to be too perfumey. The room we were in was so cold that tomorrow I’m going to wear a winter scent like Dries van Noten. Man, I hate extreme AC!
Ugh, I don’t like extreme AC either. The temp was probably set by a guy.
We had company at work today so I kept it on the down-low with Diorissimo.
I hate work company.
We will have the big kahunas tomorrow. And they’re hosting linch. An admin placed the food order and asked if we’re sure we’re not over-ordering ???
Sprayed on a bunch of Chanel No. 19 edt for my SOTE.
I’m not sure what is going on with me and shoes lately. I knew I should have listened to my spidey-sense, but I didn’t. I had another shoe come apart; a pair of sandals with a post beside the toe broke away from the shoe. This was 10 minutes into my long 9.5 hour day. So I had to go barefoot all day. Ugh! I think I wore this pair maybe 10 times total.
I kinda thought something felt weird on the way out, but then said ‘na, can’t be’! Well, YES, it can. Tomorrow I am taking an extra pair or 2 to leave under my desk for emergencies such as this. ???
I guess the universe wants you to buy more shoes… That is an uncomfortable way to spend a workday. At leadt you smell lovely and tomorrow you need to wear sneakers. ?
I think so! As a joke, my co-worker friend was going to use her packing tape to secure the broken one to my foot.
That’s 3 pairs out, so 3 have to come in. Equilibrium, right?
3 times a charm? Maybe your going to have good luck and get a fabulous deal on your next pair of shoes ?
Good one! Never thought of that. Thank you!
I tried to get to a couple shoe stores on Friday, but was distracted at Winners for too long by the workout shirts and new makeup (like I need more of that!) That will teach me to not get what I originally went out for.
I also got some shower gel from BBW At the Beach that you mentioned! I tried the rose fragrance at The Body Shop, but couldn’t smell anything for some reason. Maybe the bottle was off or I couldn’t smell due to nose fatigue or the musks? Will have to try again.
I always kept an emergency pair of flats at my desk at work for this reason. Enjoy your shoe shopping!
Strangely enough, I left a pair all winter under my desk and promptly forgot until I needed them at home one weekend. I brought them home the next day. Lessons learned!
Can you return them?
No, I bought them last year on a trip.
