It's Tuesday, and the ever-popular Hug Your Cat Day. Also, Eid Mubarak! What fragrance are you wearing?
Me: still at the beach, still in Carthusia Mediterraneo. Tea at the moment is Colombia Tippy Black Organic from Upton.
Reminder: on 6/7, wear a fragrance by Ineke, Imaginary Authors, il Profumo or i Profumi di Firenze, if you have one. Partial credit for any other small-ish brand that starts with the letter I.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2019, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the flamingo teapot and mug are $41 at Sugar & Cotton.
you smell like a bouquet of flowers ..beautiful
In honor the peonies that are blooming in my vase
Tea Rose d’Himalaya from MF
Chanel nude lippy and a “chanelesque” blazer
I love the scent of fresh peonies. And the blazer sounds lovely!
I fear if I wore a “Chanelesque” blazer, folks who know me would think I was in constume for something. . . I’m not very good at looking professional, even when I’m trying hard at it! ???
I love tweed, and when given the chance when its a bit cool I love to throw this type of jacket over my shoulder.
Even though I am SAHM (stay at home Mom) I am not casual. As in you will not find me in athletic wear per niente.
A serious of events in my life has made me realize I shouldn’t save anything for special occasions. Clothing or perfume
I live in jeans. I never used to wear hoodies, but I fear as I’ve become more physically active, they’ve become more of a staple in my everyday wear. I WILL NOT walk around in athletic tights/leggings. I don’t mind them during a jog or while I’m lifting, but as soon as the activity is done, I change into real pants. I feel like I’m walking around in my underwear, otherwise.
When I lived in SF so many people were in their athletic wear constantly, it is a pet peeve of mine and I don’t have many!
I used to have as firm a position as you when it came to leggings! I’m in the Bay Area, so there are belegginged women everywhere. I fell in with some pro-legging friends maybe 1.5 years ago, and then they alerted me to a sale on leggings with pockets at Victoria’s Secret a year ago, so I bought a few. I wore them to work, and a few people noticed and complimented me on them, but then I got self-conscious (and also winter came) and I stopped wearing them to work, though I still wear leggings as pants outside of work with some frequency. THEN about six months ago, a work friend was complaining about people who wear leggings to work, and I said, “Well, I did that for three months last year,” and she stared at me in total shock and disbelief. So I was reminded that no one really cares what I look like and most people don’t even notice. So I might wear leggings as pants again for part of this summer
I wear leggings every day of my life.
If Vera Wang could build a financial empire with 600 pairs of leggings, I figure I’m good.
I’m wearing H&M Raconteuse which I ordered blind based on EauMG’s review. Seems like a really pretty if light orange blossom. Sadly the patchouli one which I really wanted to try wasn’t available anymore.
I was tempted by that Raconteuse review too…but not tempted enough to actually *go* to H&M, lol
I ordered it online! It was only like $6 for a purse spray and I wanted some of their nail polish too so I figured it was worth the gamble….
I just blind bought Lipstick because of her! and right now they have free shipping in case you need a BUB
Acqua di Parma Iris Nobile. Always gorgeous!
House twins! <3
I have never smelled this one..whats it like?
Orange blossom and iris flower with a vanilla and amber drydown. It is stronger than the EdT, which is brighter and lighter.
I’m wearing Narciso edt.
Love that one.
Feeling casual in L’Eau du Fleuriste
Hi Regina. I’m curious if your scent is by DSH?
No, it’s the discontinued L’Artisan one.
Thanks! Just curious…
I might just have to buy that tea pot as a birthday gift for a certain 15 yr old daughter that loves flamingos…..LOL That is sooooooo cute!
This summer I seem to be living in Prada Infusion d’Iris Cedre. It’s the perfect office scent, and a great summer pick too. My Scentbird sample is half gone; may just have to buy a FB very soon!
Your comment reminded me that I wanted to post an awesome grad gift my youngest is giving my oldest for his college adventure- I thought all you tea people would appreciate it (my h s almost grad has suddenly gotten into tea): https://www.amazon.com/Bodum-Bistro-Electric-Water-Kettle/dp/B00851LRUS/ref=asc_df_B00851LRUS/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=167141308073&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=17833329413389616346&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=t&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9032066&hvtargid=pla-276250896225&psc=1
Sorry for the long link! I think it will be perfect for a dorm room.
Oh WOW!!! That’s EXACTLY what my oldest kid needs for her dorm room! We have an electric kettle that we use for EVERYTHING at home, and she will definitely use it everyday….The price is PERFECT! Thank you for posting that!
(The flamingo is for the middle kid!)
Ordered. Here tomorrow! #LoveMeSomeAmazonPrime
Woot woot! I get an enabler pen–may be first time on NST that was awarded for the purchase of a kettle!
That does look perfect for a dorm room! Could use it to make ramen and instant oatmeal too – staples of the college diet
As some of you may remember, I’m on a mission to wear each perfume in my collection once. Well, with very little repeating, I’m getting much closer. I’m down to vintage-and-doesn’t-last-six-hours and when-am-I-going-to-want-to-smell-like-this bottles. Haven’t officially counted but this may be my last month!
I’m in Calyx, with Prescriptives on the box. I love that green fruity opening!
Lol at When am I going to want to smell like this? Category. I assume Caylx is not that. You smell great !
Ha, definitely not. Calyx was hiding behind my Spellbound, which is definitely not a summery perfume.
“When am I going to smell like this” is such a hard category to identify in the moment, when one is making a purchasing decision! At least, for me it is. I’m often surprised at what turns out to be less versatile than I think it will be.
Yeah they aren’t very comfy but they’re supposed to be hard to break in.
Ha thought I was in my text response. It works though!
It’s been a lot of fun, though I have a few favorites that I’m anxious to wear again.
L’Artisan Mont de Narcisse
Wearing a sample of Nuit Des Bourbon by Princesse Marina De Bourbon.
Not bad. A musky fruity rose which reminds me of Narciso Rodriguez For Her EDP. But Nuit des Borubon is a bit too sweet for my liking, and I miss the patchouli which I enjoy in Rodriguez. The dry-down seems identical or almost identical to Rodriguez.
My SOTD is Cap Neroli, inspired by LizzieB’s SOTD from yesterday.
Currently drinking a delicious turmeric ginger tea latte.
Does anybody know what’s up with Parfums d’Empire? I’ve been considering an fb of Corsica Furiosa, but it and several other Pd’E perfumes are sold out at both Beautyhabit and Luckyscent.
So glad to hear you like Corsica Furiosa and are considering a full bottle. I hope you can find it soon!
It’s so good! Thanks again for the decant! I’m fighting the urge to hoard it.
At the moment, it’s still available at Fumerie. ?
Thanks for the tip!
Fumerie is also out of stock. ?
Oh no! In fifteen minutes? Is there an ebayer lurking here?
Wow that was fast!
Oof. Then I guess I’m glad I never got to try it! Sounds like it’s a bad one to fall in love with right now!
I missed out on Le Cri de la Lumiere and have been waiting for it to come back into stock. I think my wait may be in vain.
Yeah, same here. Luckyscent said it’d be back in stock in May. Maybe he’s a one man operation.
Corsica Furiosa is back in stock at some European retailers others are out of stock, but expected to be back in stock.
That’s promising, thanks!
Cap Neroli. Nice.
I’m wearing L’Eternel feminin by Divine. It’s gorgeous and classy. Inspired by whomever wore L’infante yesterday.
Tea is a fancy green Chinese that I’m enjoying a lot.
Do not see many mentions of Divine in general, these days.
I’m wafting vanilla goodness in Bonbons à la Vanille from Kyse today.
Imaginary Authors Cape Heartache. It’s sticky-green like pine needles on tree sap, but with a bit of fruitiness. Smells like summer in the rainforest. A win for me!
Of the ones I’ve tried, that and Memoirs of a Trespasser are my favorites from the line.
Tried that one yesterday, loved it!
I thunked my decant of Imaginary Authors Violet Disguise today. After wearing The Soft Lawn yesterday I can detect the same chalky note that one had, though it’s paired with plum and violet here.
We’re having a bbq at work today that I’m pretty excited for. One of the VPs and one of our SVPs are doing pulled pork, ribs, and maybe brisket too. And we’ll have sides. Counting down until lunch time!
Sounds good, enjoy!
Reporting back that bbq lunch was so good! I ate 3 hours ago but am still so full.
Thumbs up! Glad you enjoyed it!
Yay! And YUM!
Wearing Mitshouko today, new EDP bottle, a little brighter than a few years ago which I truly enjoy more and think is nice. Eternal timeless classic fragrance!
Nice when something gets better!
Mitsouko * LOL
That may be my choice too once I rouse myself and take shower. It jazzes up the joint no matter how flat I feel.
Sticking with my girl, Ineke! Today I’m a little spicy in Sweet William, a lovely scent with some real presence. Off to vote and then buy some ice cream.
We’re sisters; I’m in Angel’s Trumpet today. You smell great in Sweet William!
Nice–you smell awesome
Big I in Indult Tihota for my cocoa pebbles fix.
I was up early but it was so dark and dreary that I may have crawled back into bed and rested my eyes.? Now the rain is done and I’m waiting for the sun. It’s probably headed towards you lillyjo, sorry.☹️
hope the sun comes out!
Yep! I’m watching the clouds rolling in now, and the wind is kicking up. I think it’s supposed to rain this evening, but it’s looking pretty ugly already.
No SOTM. I’m a little queasy this morning from not sleeping well last night. I don’t want to add to the sensation with too much *input*. Hopefully, there will be a squirt of something later.
Thank you, everyone, for the TV recommendations yesterday. I decided to start with the ABC murders, as John Malkovich as Hercule Poirot was too much not to give a go! I’m genuinely terrible at sitting still, so I only watched 1 3/4 episodes, but I’ve enjoyed that much so far. It is interesting to me that it feels both period and culturally relevant for today. I’m not accustomed to to thinking of Agatha Christie as an especially political writer, but perhaps I was making assumptions? I know her more from the adaptations of her work than from reading them myself.
I hope you feel better! In response to your question yesterday regarding the Montale sample sets, the atomizers look normal, I am just very slow with sampling from my own samples!
Thank you! I guess that makes sense, no little metal bottles for samples. . . maybe they’d be cute enough for me to forgive the packaging, though?!
I may start that one soon too, glad to hear it is good.
Finished it up this morning (instead of going for my walk–it’s all self care, right?). I enjoyed it. It’s only 3 episodes, and they wrapped it up pretty well in that time. I wouldn’t have minded longer with it!
Feel better! ?
Thanks. More sleep tonight will surely help!
Spent the morning on the phone regarding a health insurance coverage issue. Ugh. I have what most would consider good coverage, but any need for assistance seems to generate a veritable cascade of logging into different accounts, calling various 800 numbers, listening to customer service reps say it is necessary to call a different number, and generally, a lot of internal screaming into the void. Crazy making. At long last, I think the issue is resolved. Keep your fingers crossed!
Wearing the first bottle within reach – SL Chypre Rouge – and using it as a guided visualization tool (by imagining that I am walking through a pine forest while inexplicably chewing on Red Hots) in order to get myself into a better mood. It’s working!
Looking forward to smoother sailing for the rest of the day.
This is a perfume blog, so I have to say :
1) *internally screaming with you*
2) You smell great!
Yes and yes.
I’m doing the CP today in some Ineke samples from “Deluxe Volume 2” sample set I bought ages ago. It has perfumes A-E. I’ve never found any of her scents that I’ve tried to be particular winners, though they are all very nice, and beautifully boxed and conceptualised. It’s a good idea to revisit them. So this morning I’ve put on “A” (After My Own Heart”), with lilac and raspberry etc.–pretty but too sweet; “B” (Balmy Days and Sundays), green, freesia, honeysuckle–this is my favourite so far; and “D” (Derring-Do), citrus, magnolia, wood notes–it’s got something a bit strident in there but I can’t identify what. I’ll see how they all do after a few hours more and then I’ll probably try and report in on “C” (Chemical Bonding) and “E” (Evening Edged in Gold) tomorrow. If anyone has a particular favourite from these or the rest of the alphabet, for that matter, I’d love to hear what it is and why you like it–I’m interested in testing some more.
My sample set did not include C. Of the ones you mentioned, Evening Edged in Gold was my favorite, though I haven’t worn it enough to decide if I would want any more than the sample. It wasn’t an instant, “Must get me a full bottle, stat!”
My faves of hers are Field Notes From Paris and Idyllwild. I will consider a FB of both one of these days… I also think Hothouse Flower is nice.
A and B were too fresh and transparent for my taste.
All three you’ve mentioned are my favorites from the line (and I have bottles of these). At least when it comes to Ineke, we’re definitely scent twins!
I’ll keep an eye out for your posts to add some ideas to my sample list!
I remember sniffing some Ineke perfumes a while back and thinking that maybe the line wasn’t for me.
If I’d only sniffed a particular half of the line, I’d have come away with the same impression. Definitely recommend sampling Idyllwild and Field Notes if you have the chance and haven’t already (LOL, and if those weren’t the ones you didn’t like…)
Today I’m spending quality time with an old love, Fleur de Chine. ?
FdC has been getting a lot of mentions here lately. ?
Inspired by ltsg mention of it yesterday!
you smell great!
Thank you. Inspired by your mention of it yesterday!
You smell great!
What an adorable flamingo tea set! I wants!
I’m wearing Chanel Paris-Deauville today. I’m off to Paris for a day tomorrow, the very last job interview will happen. If I have time I’ll try to find and smell new Paris-Riviera.
Good luck Lucasai! Wishing you the best!
Wishing you the best of luck! I’m so excited for you!
Best wishes for the interview!
Good luck my friend!
Oh is that the new neroli one? Please let us know how the interview goes, and the perfume!
Petitgrain, orange zest,
Super good luck to you!
Fingers crossed for you!
All the best wishes for your fabulous success!
Good luck, dear Lucas!
Good luck with the interview! Have fun sniffing, too.
Best of luck with the interview! And i hope you get a chance to sample the Chanel.
Awesome news on the upcoming interview! Good luck!
What a charming teapot and cup!
SOTD = Rania J Ambre Loup
Cool enough to wear today!
I found a perfume store in Sorrento (Sabine Perfume boutique) which carried all sorts of niche lines including Rania J. Ambre Loup was the only one out of stock!
I don’t know what it is with commuters and personal space, especially as it relates to yours truly — yesterday, I was waiting at a relatively empty platform in the late afternoon and these 2 guys decided to stand thisclose to me to the point where every time the one next to me spoke, his elbow would hit me. I finally had to flick him off because there was absolutely no reason on God’s green earth that they have to stand right there!
This morning, there was just an inescapable overall miasma of bad breath. Yuck! I have never been so glad to leave the train to get to work!
I just saw a mini review for Ambre Loup on You Tube. Ami Loves Perfume did a review of her favorite amber scents.
I feel your commuting pain. Nothing can be worse than the farting?
I commute in my own little car, so I cannot speak to that; however, I have been to shows where there was plenty of space in a venue and someone stood not only right into my bubble, but right in front of me, into my bubble, so my hands were grazing their hind-end. After a few polite nudges, I stuck an elbow in his back.
I hate, hate it when people stand to close to me, for no good reason. Can you compare the Ambre Loup to anything?
Maybe they stood next to you because you actually smell good, which is a rare for a warm day in NYC (or any given day) on any platform!
If I had to pick a seat I would be sitting next to you if I had to commute.
Too bad that you haven’t found a perfume that is “Obnoxious Commuter Repellent”!
Happy Tuesday! عيد مبارك!
1) I got my certificate in the mail yesterday afternoon! I am now qualified to design systems for urban and exurban areas- this include water, pedestrian/bike and parks. But whom am I kidding? I will probably wind up working again in tech.
2) Followup to the visit to IKEA: It was a very productive and illuminating visit; the people there are totally not interested in what HGTV is doing. Instead, they want to know what YOU do in your kitchen, do you have disabilities, family members, etc. Then they take your measurements of the room, what you like in the catalog and go from there.
The kitchen estimate included taller upper cabinets, allowances for spices, oil and wine, extra wide drawers for pots, pans, and food storage in glass containers, enclosure for the refrigerator and a new island with sink and dishwasher and butcher block workspace. All together it was $7500; this cost does NOT include appliances nor the top for the island. It also does not include installation. This seems to be about what I expected; the design is highly customized and includes glass doors on the uppers. Will now double check with some smaller places in town.
3) Long and busy day! I am in a combo of Kai body wash and a spritz of Chanel 5.
1) Environmental engineering? I have a niece in that field.
2) That price sounds really good for customized caninets.
3) You smell great!
1) Not engineering per se. I would be the ideas person and set up surveys initial design and studies. The engineer would do the final design based on my studies and build out. Together we would present a budget to the regulatory body.
2) Honestly, I think that the price is a VERY good estimate for the customization.
Sounds like a good experience with IKEA! How nice they actually care how you use your kitchen!
You are in the Portland area, yes? Seems like there’d be a market for that sort of work–although I bet it pays pittance compared to Intel or Nike. . .
1) The IKEA kitchen planner was really kind and helpful! And I think that it is key to understand how you use a kitchen- it is a workspace first and foremost!
2) This is a fragrance blog so *safety glasses on* let me expound a tiny bit.
The incredible success of internet based services and products has made the Northern West Coast the richest place on the planet, and that has washed over to a lot of stuff. This means people are moving in leaps and bounds to the West Coast, and materials and resources are being used. There is actually an opening market for systems and how to use things efficiently while meeting certain environmental standards. Nike and Intel actually don’t pay as well as people think, and those companies are actually facing some problems internally. A better more sustainable living can actually be found in the smaller tech and materials companies here in PDX, Bend or Seattle. *safety glasses off*
Thank you for such a complete answer! No need to remove your safety glasses on my account. ?? I’m happy to hear there are other options. I would imagine it becomes a sort of “gig” scenario for lots of folks–piecing together work from several sources? My friends in the Bay Area all seem to work like that. . .
Oh Goodness, the Bay Area! We have people on the blog who are Bay area people and I have NO IDEA how they do it. I mean, $5K in rent, and crazy priced houses. YIKES! You need three jobs just to keep up!
Bay Area person here! You know how we deal with $5k rent + crazy priced houses? We spend a ridiculous amount of money on rent to live in a place where the landlords make all the rules, and we don’t buy houses We have been looking at houses for the past few months, and $3M houses near us are dinky and awful. We can’t afford anything we want to live in. We can’t even afford things we don’t want to live in.
Seriously? 5 thousand a month? I don’t understand how that is even possible unless people are making a ton of money. How is the whole city not homeless? I believe you, I just can’t do the math.
We can barely do the math either It’s part of why so many people, even older people (like my age, in their early 30s), live with roommates!
Channeling Deva in Safran Troublant. It’s been unseasonably cool and sunny so it feels perfect today.
Wore that last night. I bought a bottle second hand, not sure how often I’d actually wear it, and the answer seems to be: a fair bit!
It’s so pretty. I don’t wear it as often as I should.
You smell fabulous! Glad you’re not channeling me TODAY, because my nose is Out Of Joint! But, just NOW had a chance to apply scent, so I’m feeling like I’m on the upswing. I’ve been saying a lot of bad words in my head today.??
I’m glad that things are improving and at least you didn’t say bad words out loud. ?
Odeur 53 by CdG for a hot summer day. The scent makes me laugh, when i spray it.
Second day on my new job, until now the people are nice and work is not too hard.
That’s a great scent! Need to find my decant.
Wearing Cuir d’Ange and pretending I am wearing very expensive shoes…
You smell great and lol!
Very nice! yum!
This made me laugh, thank you.
Flamingos are so effortlessly decorative.
Went perfume testing at lunchtime. Un Jardin sur la Lagune, disappointing, I find it banal, the other Jardins are much more distinctive, Acqua di Parma Ambra: hated it, too musky and I detected oud, Gelsomino Nobile is going to be discontinued I was told by a very friendly and helpful SA, Laura Mercier l’Heure Magique is fine but not as extraordinary as Lumiere d’Ambre.
This evening I reached for Miss Dior vintage EDT and it certainly put things into perspective.
I was really surprised to find Laguna so disappointing. The rest of the line doesn’t work for me, but at least they are interesting.
I completely agree, Lillyjo, sur le Nil smells good on my skin and has such a nice development from mango to incense, I find apres la Mousson a bit difficult, it works for me only in the dry heat of Provence where I have my bottle, Lagune is vaguely marine and salty but so generically so, it has no development it’s a real let down, I am not impressed with perfumer Christine Nagel so far.
I did some perfume testing today, too. I had read the discussion here a few weeks ago about Amazing Grace perfumes. After trying a couple of sorts, I ended up getting a small bottle of Amazing Grace Ballet Rose at Ulta.
I went to Sephora after lunch, and tried some of the Hermes Jardin perfumes. I liked sur le Nil quite a lot. I asked one of the helpful sales assistants for a sample to take home. I liked Un Jardin sur la Lagune all right on paper, but didn’t try it on my skin. I liked the sur le Nil better, though. I have a manufacturer’s sample of Monsieur Li at home to try, also. I ended up getting a travel size of Atelier Cologne Vanille Insensee at Sephora, since I like that one and it doesn’t make Dad cough.
I already have several things to confess to Donatella for April/May/June, and it’s barely June! lol. Oh, well.
Congratulations on your new bottle of Ballet Rose and sur le Nil is so wonderful for summer, I think it’s my favorite Jardin.
So far all the comments I have seen for the new Hermes Jardin are convincing me that I don’t need to seek that one out.
I think I have seen one positive comment so far…but that does mean there is hope.
Maybe expectations were too high, I didn’t hate it but wasn’t delighted.
It’s just that I was expecting so much more, Jalapeno because it’s a stellar series.
Home with my youngest (“Mom, is hug your cat day an actual thing?”) in bed, both of us on our iPads. I should be working, but the stuffing’s been knocked out of me, the both of us—need a nothing day I guess. My son had his third minor surgery of the month yesterday—and I do mean minor, yesterday was the only day he needed general anesthesia. But golly it has taken something out of me to be back in the hospital a third time, actually sixth if you count lab work and doctor visits, in less than 28 days. I. Am. Tired. Girding myself for a few chores this afternoon, but otherwise am fulling embracing hugging the cat and working on mindless word games. Perfume for such a day is the remnants of Bal d’Afrique hair perfume from last night before I went to bed.
My goodness Oakland. It sounds like you and your son deserve some well-earned relaxtion time. Take care!
Oh dear! That’s alot. Get some rest. Nothing days are excellent
Oh, hope you both get some stuffing back in you very soon, that all sounds so hard.
Wow, that’s rough. A “Do Nothing” day sounds like the perfect remedy.
Best wishes for healing for your son. And hospitals are hard on the psyche. Be kind to yourself.
I’m wearing Iris di Firenze by i Profumi di Firenze. I sought out my options for a bottle quite a while back, and discovered that there have been two versions and I have no clue which version my sample came from! Has anyone tried this one and if so, which version/thoughts ? My usual m.o. would be to order a decant to further explore, but none of the usual suspects carries it. Oh good grief, what a goofy thing to get fixated on! What’s up with that?
Seriously, I can easily get fixated on way stupider things! But sorry I cannot help you, and good luck.
I thought M Micallef Gardenia would be a nice perfume for the hot and humid day we’re having. I am definitely enjoying it!
And a good gardenia is hard to find!
Ormonde Jayne Woman today…have worn it for a while but it always smells good!
Currently sitting at Intercontinental Airport Houston (in the Exec Lounge as we splurged on Business Class tickets this trip!) waiting for our flight home to Aberdeen via London. Have managed to use a considerable amount of my Margiela’s Promenade in the Gardens during our almost 2 week visit to our friends in Oak Ridge North. Fragrance offerings in DF here are poor, surprisingly, & I didn’t have much opportunity to look elsewhere during our time here. except for the local Nordstrom (very underwhelming) & Sephora, where nothing jumped out at me either, although the adult son of our hosts accompanied us that day so I didn’t feel I could linger! Very sorry to leave our friends, we’ve had a lovely time, as we always do, & can’t wait for our next visit.
So glad you had a good visit, even if the shopping was not up to par!
Thank you, Robin. Should manage a Glasgow visit in the next while so will probably console myself with a purchase there!
It’s a horribly cold and wet winter morning here, and so dark – yuck! Boots, coat and Tobacco Vanille.
Yuck. I hope that you aren’t in for a wet and dreary winter. That gets old fast.
Thanks for the Eid well-wishes Robin! I opened up my new bottle of Gucci Bloom in celebration and donned a new dress. I hope the weather holds up for my bbq later.
new bottle! yay!
How does it smell..?
I love it! It’s a good BWF for people like me who don’t generally gravitate to this family
Hope that the weather was nice for your BBQ! Gucci Bloom is a lovely scent.
Nice! Hope the bbq is lovely.
Sampling Golden Wood from The Harmonist. I’m pretty sure this is going on the full bottle wishlist
That one does sound lovely — as is the bottle.
Eid Mubarak to those celebrating!
Wearing Ael-Mat today, and was able to get out at midday and enjoy the sunshine.
Yay for getting out in the sun
I’ve had a very busy morning that has prevented me from checking out NST so far, but I’ve been smelling great in Angelique Noire.
BUT WHY ISN’T ANYONE TALKING ABOUT JEOPARDY!?????
The fiance headed out to Boston before me to hang out with his family, SO I HAD TO WATCH LAST NIGHT’S SHOW ALL BY MYSELF. WHY HASN’T IT FILLED MY FACEBOOK NEWSFEED AND CLOGGED MY TEXT INBOX? Gah! Still reeling!
I’ve been actively ignoring all news, except when you guys mention something. What happened?
Well I don’t want to write it here, in case someone doesn’t want it spoiled.
Wait, what am I talking about? It’s Jeopardy!
JAMES HOLZHAUER WAS BEATEN! Ahhhhhh. He had 32 consecutive wins and ended up with $2.3M, which is just less than Ken Jennings’s record streak from something like 15 years ago!
Ok, as I’m typing this out, I’m starting to think maybe no one else is talking about it because this wasn’t life-changing to that many people. OMG I’m a nerd.
A lot of people complained that James was like a Cyborg, but being part Cyborg myself,* I was quite attached to him. This has been devastating to me but maybe not so much to too many other people.
*For anyone who’s about to complain that a Cyborg is already part person/part machine and therefore it would make more sense for me to say that I’m a Cyborg than to say that I’m part Cyborg, you might well also be a Cyborg, so we should build each other up instead of tearing each other down.
I saw it. It’s required viewing in my house. My husband is the fan. It was pretty suspenseful and glad it’s a woman!
Haha! You’re definitely right about the suspense. After it ended I sat in front of the TV still just clutching my face in disbelief. It’s required viewing in our house, too!
I’m glad he was beaten by a woman, if he had to be beaten, and I’m glad it’s a woman I liked (and not someone dreadful, like Robin Falco, who has since gone on TV to badmouth James for, effectively, winning). But I’d have been even more pleased if it had been a woman who had played as brilliantly as James had! Who knows, maybe Emma will be as great as James.
I never really knew what a Cyborg was until now, lol.
I’m more of a dork than a nerd? thanks for the news update!
Haha. I am both a dork AND a nerd. Well lillyjo, at least we can both dork out on perfume. (You and I both smell wonderful today!)
I saw both the Jeopardy episode, and some of the spoliers about it. A fun fact: both James Holzhauer and Ken Jennings were defeated by women.
But wouldn’t it have been even MORE fun if the two most wonderful and exciting Jeopardites of our lives had been women themselves?! You know, KJ was the winner in a very formative time of my life, so a teeeeeeeny part of me is glad that James didn’t beat his streak. Anyway, I’m just glad I love both James and KJ to bits. Must have sucked to watch all those games if you didn’t like them.
I found James Holzhauer rather charming and self deprecating. He was also scary fast on the buzzer. I can respect that, and enjoyed watching him. There were also a couple of games where another contestant gave him a fight until the end, so it wasn’t like watching an AI playing.
Emma Boettcher is no slouch herself! It will be interesting to see how she does.
We have been recording the show of late, including last night. Not surprisingly, my husband heard the news ahead of time and didn’t want to watch. I had commented the other day that James seemed to be losing his spark. Wondered if he was getting tired and was ready to move on. I liked his style of play and his demeanor.
Aww. Yeah, I’ve been wondering if he’s been getting tired and if he just wants to go home. The get-well card his daughter made for Alex, wasn’t that just the sweetest thing?! I also liked his style and demeanor
I saw the spoilers about the episode in the Washington Post on Monday morning. I told Mom I wasn’t going to spoil it for her, though. I was in another room for the first segment of the show, and then came in and watched the end of the first round and the rest of the show. Mom guessed “Christopher Marlowe” for the final answer. I kept quiet.
But Mom and Dad watch Jeopardy faithfully. I watch sometimes, and sometimes just hear it from another room.
I always think of this when i see pelicans https://youtu.be/dT7STlVX71A
I’m wearing La Fille de Berlin, from my beauty bag sample. It’s very pretty. I wish I could smell it a little better though. Maybe I need to spray more.
Interesting. I found La Fille de Berlin plenty strong when I was dabbing it.
It seemed pretty Big when I put it on, but after a few hours at work, I had to sniff my wrists. My work is pretty smelly, so maybe it got overpowered. I will try it again on a day off.
Ah… getting overpowered by background smells makes sense. Testing it again sounds like a good idea. ?
Wearing Lipstick Rose today, I cant seem to find a decently priced sample to continue to test. You know all those people on the bay get those samples for free, they should just give them to me in the spirit of community….
I know! I guess people are willing to pay 20 bucks for one of those. Though FM doesn’t give out those glass 3.5ml ones anymore. They’re 1ml plastic atomizers now.
I could swear I posted earlier, but anyway, I wore LL Iris 39 which I hadn’t worn in a while. I was in a green mood and it hit the spot.
My last week of this class and I can’t wait to be done!! It’s been such a drain that I can’t bear to take another class this summer.
Congratulations on making it thru your class!
So glad you’ve made it through your class. Hope you get a summer break!
There aren’t semesters; the classes just restart every 2 weeks so you could take them back-to-back. I’m taking a self-imposed summer break, though!
Congratulations! I hope it’s a relaxing summer ?
Thanks! I’ll be thinking about dropping out all summer, lol.
You smell beautiful and congrats on finishing your class!
You smell fantastic! And congratulations on finishing your class!
Another drop dead gorgeous late spring/early summer day here! ??? However, I am tired enough that I initially read today’s poll as “Thursday scent of the day”. Oooops! More caffeine, please.
SOTD = Diptyque Tempo again.
Wish it were Thursday already!
Not me! Thursday’s weather forecast isn’t nearly as nice as today’s is/was.
have nothing to participate in the CP this week, thus I think I’ll do a week of roses. Starting out with Mohur. So so beautiful!
Nothing wrong with a week of roses in the slightest! ?
230pm and just now getting some lunch and a spritz since I forgot this morning. Ugh!
I need Corsica Furiosa today. ??
Ugh! Delayed lunches are not fun at all.
Jasmins Marzipane today because I used some of the sample of Jasmine Sky bath powder. Will be spritzing on more soon as I head out to my monthly knitting group. I only have a scarf/hat combo and a man’s hat to turn in. Will pick up more yarn and hopefully get more done this next month. I was distracted by reading a lot the past few weeks.
Saw Rocketman. Liked it. I liked the non-linear aspect and that it’s actually a musical, not a biography. Obviously will be on Broadway and West End at some point. I was glad to see Elton and Bernie have always had a good relationship. Makes me happy, since they’re such perfect collaborators.
Curious why you have to “turn things in” — are they being given away?
We provide knitted goods to an organization that serves elderly and homeless. I try to do a hat a month for a man and then either shawl or cap/scarf combo for women. They provide yarn. So it’s a win/win. I get to improve my knitting skills and play around with styles and they get product.
Ah, thank you! And good for you and your group.
SotD = Assam of India for Tea for Tuesday + a smidgen of Somei Yoshino from a sample
SY must not be registering with my nose today. It smells odd, but oh well, Assam of India is always right.
Eid mubarak! My friend Razia wished me well and told me she is relieved to end her period of fasting. Accidentally, or coincidentally, I wore a black kurta with white embroidery over white leggings to school today. It’s very comfy, has pockets, and was given to me by a friend. I love it.
Hope everyone had a terrific Tuesday.
I went through my samples and did discover a sample of Ineke Scarlet Larkspur.
