Mitsouko is 100, but Jicky is 130. For Jicky's birthday, Guerlain asked Senegalese artist Baye Gallo to decorate 16 bottles (there's a longer backstory on the Guerlain site if you care to read it). "Painted entirely by hand, the bottle takes on vibrant colours and unique textures, faithful to the tradition of free and profuse African art. The use of coffee grounds – the artist’s favourite material – offers the crystal bottle a singular relief, a raw dimension that contrasts with the symbolism of its motifs. This creation is a declaration of humanity..." The 1 liter (yep) bottle is reportedly €7500.

Not sure I could get through a litre of this in a lifetime.
Not sure how adding coffee grounds to paint offers a ‘raw dimension that contrasts with the symbolism of its motifs’ or how it is a ‘declaration of humanity’ (surely every man-made object is a declaration of humanity in some way?), so I guess I can save myself €7500 – win win ?
I think the coffee actually builds up structure…the artist says somewhere that it allows him to “sculpt” his paintings. But saving the €7500 is a good idea 🙂
I love the bottle! Not for anywhere close to that price though. The artist couldn’t paint us common folk some minis?
I like the Mitsouko bottle better but this one is gorgeous too. I’ll take them all…
I’m not sure which bottle I prefer but I do prefer Mitsouko. I know you’re the opposite though.
Yes…would much rather have the Jicky juice in the Mitsouko bottle!
I think it’s very cool, but wouldn’t pair this style of art with Jicky. Just doesn’t seem like they fit.
You have to read the backstory, something about royalty in Senegal or somesuch. But purely on look of the bottle and smell of the juice, agree, not really a match. I don’t mind that though.
Great bottle, wouldn’t it look great with the two Mitsouko bottles?
A girl can dream 😉
Colors and some of the shapes remind me of the early 90s, late 80s style.
