Happy Almost-Friday! It's also World Heritage Day / International Day for Monuments and Sites. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Carthusia Mediterraneo. At the moment I can't remember if it's my second or third bottle.
Reminder: 4/19 will be Twice as Nice Friday...wear a fragrance that you've purchased more than once (a scent that you used up and bought again, or a scent for which you've already got a backup bottle). If you don't have such a fragrance, wear the scent you'd be most likely to rebuy. Suggested by thegoddessrena.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2019, where I'll try to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Wow, great scent for a Thursday almost Friday!
Is this one you have a back up bottle of? I don’t think I ever saw it in these here parts, but I’m sure you smell fantastic!
Wonderful stuff!
DKNY Men. Since 2001 (it’s the fragrance that has been with me the longest) I’ve been through 4x50ml and 4x, no wait – THUNK – as of this morning make that 5x100ml bottles. Also 2x75ml deodorant sticks, 1x150ml deodorant spray and 2x100ml shower gels. Somewhere along the way I’ve managed to acquire 3 back up bottles (though technically that’s now 2)…
Oh nice! My longest is probably Diorissimo, and that’s also the one I have the most BUB of.
Love, love Mediterraneo. Have you found ways to make it last, Robin?
I’m in another of your favorites: Theorema for a cool rainy day in Seattle. I have a partial bottle and a mini.
Really I think the only bottles I used up and rebought several times were when I had a signature scent: 70s: Je Reviens, 90s: Tresor but only parfum format.
What a coincidence! I just smelled a reconstruction of the original Je Reviens yesterday!
It’s just not quite the same, to my nose. I miss it.
Theorems is wonderful. Got a bottle and 4 backup bottles when Beauty Encounter sold it. Just wish it wasn’t discontinued.
I wish I had had the foresight – I look at what’s left in my bottle and feel a little anxiety about finishing it…….
Nope, it doesn’t last! That helps me go through more bottles 😉
I agree with Patricia de Nicolai…you can’t make a citrus last without making it “squat”. So if you want light and sparkling, you’ll have to reapply.
😀 Good point. And yes, yay for light and sparkling.
I am in Lubin Kismet again. I think others can smell this on me better than I can smell it on myself. I would prefer the opposite.
Last night I got to smell some fabulous vintage perfumes at the library’s smell and tell – I sniffed Joy, Je Reviens, Rochas Femme, among others but the one that really stood out was Caron’s Bellodgia. Wow what a carnation! I have been googling carnation perfumes since last night because I also really enjoyed Oeillat Bengale so this may be a note that I would like more generally. Any suggestions from this community?
In my Google stalking of the dc/ed Bellodgia I came across the site scent matchers – they recreate discontinued scents. Has anyone here tried them?
Smell and tell? That sounds so fun!
It is!! Seriously a highlight of my month every month. It’s run by Michelle Krell Kydd who blogs about perfume on glasspetalsmoke
That sounds so cool!
Prada Infusion d’Oeillet and L’Air du Temps are both lovely, spicy carnations.
Ooh thanks for the suggestions- and I appreciate that these are readily available
Speaking of super spicy carnations… Do you like old spice?
I think Assosciation has ruined it for me!
I have never smelled Old Spice which from your comment I take to be a good thing
I actually have a partial bottle of Old Spice I could send you, if you’re interested
Thank you, that’s sweet of you to offer, but I have actually never smelled Old Spice! Strange because it is so ubiquitous. I didn’t even know it is a spicy carnation. I will take a sniff next time I come across it.
I saw the Scentmatchers website and wondered the same.
Hopefully someone will chime in with their experience
I am slightly embarrassed to admit, I tried them to see if they could generate a reasonable facsimile of Malmaison, my favorite carnation scent. They had it listed on their site as something they had made before, so I selected from their list, and sent them money. I recieved something that had a 2 minute blast of clove, followed by hours of a stinky bitter musk. No resemblance to anything remotely carnation, or even floral. I didn’t have the heart to fight with them about it, I just threw the bottle away. YMMV, of course, they have some rave reviews, but it didn’t work for me….
Thanks so much for candidly sharing your experience! This is super helpful especially because Malmaison was exactly the fragrance I was thinking of having them recreate! Money saved.
If someone has had a successful experience with Scentmatchers or one of other perfume reproduction sites, I would be very interested to read of it.
Bellodgia is so pretty. I wore it yesterday, and enjoyed it so much.
Three years ago, my first stop on our Paris trip (my husband called it my PPT -Paris Perfume Tour), was a Caron boutique. I bought Piu Bellodgia, which is very pretty, and a sample of Bellodgia was included in my bag. I regret not going back the next day and purchasing a bottle of Bellodgia.
It is so pretty. In your defense, you probably reasonably thought it would be available for the long term. Why would they discontinue such a gem?
I hope they bring it back.
DSH Oeillets Rouges is a very beautiful carnation scent.
I am reading about this in the Chapman book which just arrived
En Voyage perfumes Fiore di Bellagio is a modern vintage – smelling carnation perfume, it’s beautiful.
Thanks for the rec, off to Google!
The smell and tell sounds like such fun.
I’ll add Etro Dianthus which is a soft carnation and Oriza Legrand has 2 carnations: Royal Oeillet and Oeilet Louis XV, I think 2 commenters here were sampling the OL perfumes not long ago, perhaps they’ll chime in.
Casmir.
This perfume has had a permanent place in my ever growing collection since it’s release in 1992. That was the same year I graduated from college and was working my first “real” job. I smelled it on a magazine test strip and was instantly in love. I rushed out to Dayton’s (rip) department store and bought a bottle. It’s still in my top two of all time even though I don’t wear it nearly as often as I used to.
Thanks to a Very generous NSTer, I have a BUB that should last me a lifetime.?
I love Casmir, such a fantastic sweater scent!
It is! Although back in the day I wore it year round. Even in the heat and humidity of summer, I didn’t care. Lol.
What a great story
Thanks yasmina.☺️
I discovered my college signature scent (Gucci Rush) from a magazine scent strip too! And I have bought it more than once 🙂
That’s awesome! I always smell those scent strips hoping to find another great one, but Casmir was the only one that inspired me to buy it.
You smell wonderful! We never had Daytons here, but had Hudsons. I believe the two were merged at one point before the end. Great department store!
Thanks!
Yes, Dayton’s, Hudson’s and Target were all part of the same parent company. Eventually the store became Marshall Fields (another rip☹️) and then Macy’s. I feel like all those great department stores are going to be obsolete some day which makes me sad.
♥️ Your Casmir love story
Thanks Coin-op. No matter how many new niche scents I try, I always circle back to those early loves.
Still commando
Lots of tea
Cashmere sweater for today’s weather
Keep the tea coming, and get better! Have you figured out if it’s allergy or cold yet?
Cashmere sweater and tea twin. Feel better soon!
Wearing Like This today. Have you ever heard of a cup of tea being described as a hug in a cup? I think of Like This as being a hug in a perfume bottle. I’m halfway through my bottle. If perfume dollars were unlimited, I would buy a second. As it is, I’m on the fence.
Ooh, you smell great! If I lived somewhere with cooler weather I would run through Like This like coffee.
Thanks! Yes, it’s definitely at it’s best in cooler weather.
I am wearing Liz Claiborne today. I went through three bottles of this in the 80s and 90s. This was the scent I wore when my husband and I were dating, way back when. We met in December 1986. I saw a bottle of this online for $25, so I ordered it. It feels like going back in time when I wear it. The style of the bottle has changed. It is a glass triangle, not a plastic triangle case surrounding the glass, like the bottles I previously had.
Nice to see plastic replaced with glass instead of the other way around!
I never wore Liz but knew a lot of girls who did. I would love to blind sniff it again, I bet I would recognize it and be instantly transported back to 1986. I can see that yellow triangle in my mind.
What a great scent memory! Glad you could find a bottle.
Rather impressive that the LIz Claiborne scent is still good! So many bad reformulations out there.
SOTD is Chanel Cristalle EDT. I am on my second bottle.
You smell great Glannys!
That one is definitely worth the re-buy!
I’m wearing Eau des Merveilles again. I have a limited selection with me because I’m traveling, but I love it so much that I don’t mind repeating it for a few days.
The only back up/ repeats of full bottles I’ve ever purchased have been Eau des Merveilles, Wood Sage and Sea Salt, Herba Fresca and Gap Grass (RIP sniffle).
That is a good group!
SB Gypsy.
House twins 🙂 Gypsy is great.
Hi all, SOTD is Wrappings by Clinique.
5:30am spin class this morning
triple espresso
Boom! I’m officially awake!
Happy almost Friday! 🙂
5:30 am exercise? I bow down to your discipline
llol, thanks! I don’t know about discipline, I’m more a fan of indulgence but I need to work out for stress management.
I lost 55 lbs 20 years ago, working out is a must for me.
It’s amazing that you’ve kept it off all this time. I would guess that you are very disciplined. That’s very impressive!
It’s the same for me! Ever since I got into yoga as a grad student, I *need* it in order to keep my stress level in check.
holyneroli, and I find the breathing is so calming also. It helps me to focus.
Same here!
Holy cow, good for you! Very impressive (and I also admire your 5:30am workouts).
Koyel, keeping the weight off is so much more difficult now that I’ve hit menopause (or mental-pause, as I like to say). 🙂
Hahaha clever 🙂 Well, I guess that means I need to get myself into good habits before mental-pause so that the transition isn’t as jarring!
Way to go, Smokey Toes ! I also suffer occasionally from mental-pause from time to time 🙂
Also, you smell great !
Thanks Barqs!
I also think reducing sugar consumption has helped with reducing hot flashes.
Yes! I agree with that (sugar). I also cut down on a lot of starchy foods. Seemed to work for me.
Respect!!! for getting up at 5:30 in the morning to work out! That is some serious mental fortitude.
Corsica Furiosa today. This is love.
Ha, I cannot replace that one because I cannot make myself buy it! But at this point I am almost hoarding what little I have. WHY won’t they do travel sizes!
I just keep buying decants.
It is snowing today. SNOWING. Just when I thought spring was finally here.
Trying something new to me as a pick me up: Smell Bent’s Chile Vanilli. Vanilla-cinnamon patch, gives off a gourmand chai accord sometimes, and other times the patchouli is stronger. This is one they included in my last sample order as an extra, not one I chose, but I’m glad they did. It’s making me smile this morning.
I am so sorry about the snow
Haha thanks! It’s supposed to warm up though, so I’ll be saved!
Snowing? For real? Yikes, the weather is koo koo birds, isn’t it?
It’ll melt off later today, but STILL! I had to brush it off my windshield in April. Unacceptable!
Ugh, snow…
Ugh indeed :p
Double ugh for snow.
Ugh three. Snow, snow, go away!
This is funny to me because it’s going to be 81 here today 🙂 Sorry about your snow!
haha thanks for the commiserating everyone!
I remember living somewhere where snow often fell 5 months out of the year. Ugh!
I went with Rose de Siwa today. I went through several decants, including the one the fell and broke on the stairs, before buying a bottle. Not sure if that really counts but it’s probably more realistic in perfumista world. ?
Your house must have smelled lovely for awhile after that fall and breakage
It really did!
Rose de Siwa would be a beautiful choice for Easter! ?
My aunt, father’s sister, passed away in CT on Monday night. She was my father’s only sibling. Had fallen a few weeks ago and then declined suddenly. Very sad. ? I can’t help but wonder if my father and then mother passing quickly in the last few months affected her health maybe too. She and my uncle have no children but my sister has been doing a great job helping him.
Vanilla does a great job getting me through tough days and I am in Boucheron Vanille de Zanzibar today.
I am so sorry for all your losses She-ra. How difficult. Stay strong.
Scented hug! Sorry for your losses ?
So sorry for all these losses so close together, She-ra. If things really do come in three’s, hopefully nothing else sad for awhile.
I’m so sorry for your loss, She-re.
Oh She-ra, I’m so sorry to hear that you are facing another loss. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs.
So sad for you that you lost another relative.
Oh gosh, She-ra, so many losses in such quick succession. All my love and hugs to you.
So sorry She-Ra. Sending hugs.
I am sorry She-Ra. I hope your lovely vanilla scent is comforting.
What a year your family is having. Wishing you all resilience and healing.
So sorry she-ra ?❤️
Oh my goodness She-ra. Stay strong, we are all thinking of you.
I’m so sorry She-ra!
Feeling sad for you, she-ra, sending scented hugs.
So very sorry she-ra.
So difficult, She-ra, I’m very sorry for such loss in quick succession.
So sorry, She-ra. So many losses so close together must be very difficult.
Sending you hugs She-ra. This has really been a year for you.
Wow, such a tough time for you and your family, sending you warm vanilla hugs.
So very sorry She-ra.
So sorry to hear about your aunt, She-ra. My sympathies.
I am sorry for your losses. It’s especially hard when they are clustered together like that.
Had a craving for Worth Courtesan, I mean a wicked craving. Since it’s supposed to be almost 80 degrees out, it’s working out. My parents are going to California for a week starting May 8th and I am going to dog sit. I finished what I needed to do but powering through the last of my anxiety. Off to window shop at Sephora.
Yay for getting the difficult job done! I also like Sephora for window-shopping stress relief – especially the fragrance wall.
You smell great Robin! The Carthusia candles are wonderful. I was in a Carthusia shop in Anacapri last fall. I bought a candle, some soaps and also the newest version of Fiori di Capri. I tried it at the store but have not opened up my bottle as U still have some left in my old bottle.
Oh good, glad to hear the candles are wonderful — thanks!
Angélique Noire felt so good yesterday that I’m in it again 🙂 Working from home this morning and watching my kittens act like little nutsos. Wondering if I’ll have time to sneak off for a swim–today’s high temp is supposed to be 81! Perfect swimming weather.
AN is very nice. You smell great. You do have the perfect swimming weather indeed – we won’t have temps like that here for at least another 3 months.
Three months!! Remind me where you are, yasmina?
Michigan
Are you in the UP?
It was bitterly cold and windy in Montreal today… missing the sun and palm trees of San Diego at the moment.
Weather twins today! It was 81 here in South Jersey. ??? ???
Nice!! Hope you took advantage of the heat by spending time outdoors!
SOTD is Prada Infusion rose. Love this one! The mimosa is also great!
beautiful !
Heure Exquise today. I just wanted it. It’s so good, it’s really hitting the spot. Trying to decide what my Easter perfume will be Sunday.
You’re wearing a delightful perfume, Kelly. You made me think about what I should wear Sunday too.
I always think of perfumelover 67 when I hear or see Heure Exquise mentioned. I hope that she is doing well.
I’m wearing another must have fragrance, Aromatics Elixir.
A classic. You smell magnificent.
L’Artisan Mandarina Corsica today. Quentin Bisch is SO talented I’ll buy anything he creates.
I have not tried that one and really should, because we agree about QB.
😉 He is one tall bald drink of water!
SOTD is Arielle Shoshanna (now called Saturday). Feels perfect for spring, even though we are having some cool, damp weather right now. This one seems to benefit from a heavier spraying. Thinking about investing in her kickstart.
Hello fragrant friends! I am back from vacation in Baja and slowly picking up the threads of my normal life. Sniff, sad to be Not On Vacation.
I went thru a whole (small) bottle of Carthusia Mediterraneo body lotion while on vacation. Nice but the scent disappears in a flash. For perfume I wore Atelier California Clementine and Pacific Lime; Olfactive Studios Still Life in Rio; VCA Neroli Amara and California Reverie; AdP Fico di Amalfi. Nobody on our ship cared but I am sure you all are burning with curiosity 🙂
Currently sampling Demeter Kitten Fur (thanks Koyel)! Um, this is a strange one. Vanilla, musk, and dry cleaning fluid; does not smell like any kitten I’ve ever sniffed. But I’m glad I got to satisfy the itch to sniff it.
You smelled great on the ship! Those are perfect oceanside choices.
That’s pretty much how I felt about Kitten Fur–thrilled to have been able to sniff it, sure it wasn’t for me. But it made my kittens behave oddly, which I enjoyed. (They kept getting really confused by the scent and stopping stock-still.)
Kooky the cat thinks it’s lickable, but then he thinks that about most perfumes 🙂
You packed all the perfect vacation scents!
Perfect choices of scents. Now whenever you smell these, they’ll bring back memories of your vacation.
I really want a bottle of Fico di Amalfi! Just sampled yesterday and think it would be wonderful for the summer.
California Reverie for me today. I finished off the decant I got in the swap meet and promptly bought a bottle. This stuff seems to require a good hosing down since it’s so light. But it’s making me happy on this rather dark, dreary day here.
Glad you chose a perfume that cheers you up, Elisa.
It’s very cheerful ?
You smell wonderful! Funny how scents behave differently on different people. That one lasts all day on me.
I can still smell it in my skin, but it’s so sheer to me to begin with (I have scent-glue skin). Unless there’s something I can’t smell, in which case the people around me are getting all the glory!
You smell glorious. It is a great mood lifting scent!
And thank YOU for the decant! It was an instant win and I wore it almost every night.
Robin, you smell like a summer grove.
In Quartz de Molyneux, I use a 30ml spray and have a splash one in the wings. This scent is an easier going Diorella.
Lovely scent of the day!
Thank you Jalapeno, now that the days are warmer Quartz radiates softly.
I’m getting a haircut later on today and don’t want to gas out the stylist, so I’m wearing FeelOud Sandal 100K Hybrid, a nice sandalwood oil that stays close to the skin.
SOTD = Frederic Malle Iris Poudre
I have a bunch of travel sprays and a 100mL bottle. Fizzy musky iris with a vanilla drydown. Best. Drydown. Ever.
Back to work and will read the comments later!
Agree. My favorite part of Iris Poudre is that dry down.
Someone said the other day it’s been reformulated, I need to smell it again. My bottle is very low…
House twins today! ?
In Limon de Cordoza, which I got in a swap. It is making me realize that I really do need to sort through my perfumes and pull the lighter, citrus scents to the fore. I swear I smelled summer in the air this morning.
I know! I suddenly feel the urge to finally put my winter scents away. Perhaps the season is finally turning.
It turns out that I only have 3 backup bottles. Was really surprised when I realized that. And one was an impulse, great price purchase that I regret, sigh. So that leaves two that I officially consider backed up. Drumroll please ….
Sotd: TF Fleur de Chine
If I was forced to list a top 10, this would be on there somewhere. ??
You smell exquisite! That one is discontinued, isn’t it? Great job snagging a BUB before the discontinuation.
Thank you!
You smell Divine!
Thank you! ❤️
SotD = Hiris
Hiris’ blue bottle makes me sigh, it is such a pretty color. And a match for the blue sea in today’s photo. So lovely!
I forgot to wear fragrance yesterday, oops, tomorrow I will wear what I chose for yesterday. Trying to be efficient. 😀
I have a question for those of you who have gone through more than one bottle of a perfume. What’s your typical dosage? Three sprays, four, more? Reapply often during the day? Very curious to know more as I’m content with one or two sprays of most scents and hardly make a dent in a bottle.
I’m curious too! I have never used up a full bottle.
yes! the last time I used up a full bottle I was in high school. Back then I only had one or two bottles at a time. I remember emptying bottles of Lauren and also Chantilly.
Psst, the key is to get travel sprays 😉 all the satisfaction of using up a FB, roughly 15 % of the work! Jk jk, I also don’t understand how people seem to go through so many bottles!
gosh, yes, I love travel sprays. 15 ml of anything is plenty for me. 😀
I use 3 to 4 sprays, and reapply on my lunch. If I’m at home I sometimes change scents 2 or 3 times. I also have a bedtime perfume, 1 to 2 sprays. I tend to wear my bottles more than my samples.
Reading this, I think I sound like a wierdo, lol!
Nope, I do all of this too, especially changing scents a few times a day. Aren’t we lucky to be able to!
Definitely not weird. This is my routine, too, except I like extra sprays at bedtime. Benefit of being single is you can smell up the bed however you want to…?
Thanks, lillyjo, for sharing your routine. Using the same scent more than once a day or using more than one scent a day is something I need to work on. 😀
Don’t faint, but I wear 10-12 sprays of most things. And I still can’t finish anybottles!
cazaubon, you are my perfumed heroine! 10 to 12 sprays is beyond me, unless we’re talking the lightest citrus and colognes then I can really go to town. 😉
Back when I wore one scent at a time and had only a few bottles, I could use up a 30mL bottle in a year or two with almost daily wearing, and 1 – 2 sprays.
Those days are LONG gone!
lol, yes, those days are gone for most of us! 😀 thanks for sharing, Jalapeno!
Strange Invisible Perfumes L’Invisible today. There are less than 5ml left in my bottle, and I have a backup bottle. I’m realizing today that it has a creamsicle vibe. I’m glad I still love this perfume as much as when I first bought it.
I’m in Jour d’Hermes today, and it’s time to reapply. Might add some orange blossom, too. I probably get about 3 hours out of the Hermes, which I’m perfectly happy with.
It’s rainy here today, but the forecast says it will clear out and the temps will top out at near 80 late this afternoon. I’m looking forward to it!
Participating in the CP today with First parfum. I got the EdT version unsniffed as part of an NST freebie and fell in love with what, to me, was pure spring narcissus. Then I discovered that First is relatively inexpensive and soon had EdP and parfum as well. I find the heavier concentrations to be more jasmine-heavy, which is pretty but not what I loved about the EdT, so I swapped away the EdP and am now down to a more manageable amount of EdT and a parfum mini that I keep in my desk for days like today.
First is so great, classic, and yet so late 70’s early 80’s smelling to me as well, you smell spectacular
SOTD, CP, Diorissimo, possibly my most re-purchased perfume. I believe the first time I bought a bottle of this was in the late ’70’s – my sister and I made a trip from Laramie Wyoming where we were both attending the University of Wyoming, to Denver, where. after spending half the day in The Tattered Cover bookstore, we hit some of the high end shopping malls – Lord and Taylor, and Needless Markup, as we fondly called Nieman Marcus. I got Diorissimo, she bought some Arpege. I have had a bottle of this almost constantly ever since. 🙂
I love this story, Diorissimo and vintage Arpege. Diorissimo is timeless. You smell lovely!
I own both of these but they are more recent discoveries.
There is a reason some of the classics are still around, they are very pleasing!
I agree with you totally on the classics, only sometimes there is the issue of reformulations not well done.
The Tattered Cover is still around in Denver, but moved several years ago. It’s also now a small chain of stores! Fond memories of their Cherry Creek location: I remember they were one of the few places that wouldn’t give a college student any grief for paying with a personal check.
As an undergraduate, my friends and I would make pilgrimages to that bookstore in Cherry Creek.
Felanilla today, after ordering a decant i had to have a BUB. It was very warm today, nearly early summer temperatures. Poor boyfriend had a biopsy done today and is recovering now. Hope the results will not be too bad.
Today i cut my Appleton dress and started with the sewing. Until now it looks okay, but i only sewed the smaller parts today.
SOTE is some vintage Chanel No 5 from Ebay. I wore this in my late twenties, but it didn’t feel like me at all at this age. I can wear this now in my fifties, but still is not really me.
Fingers crossed for happy biopsy results!
Hoping the results are good too.
Wishing a good outcome for your boyfriend.
Also crossing fingers for your boyfriend. Am impressed by your sewing skills, too.
You smell wonderful. Good biopsy vibes for your bf!
Best wishes for good biopsy results re: your boyfriend!
Sampling Iris 39, I love the top and middle notes, but wondering if I’m anosmic to something in the dry down, seems to disappear rather quickly, although my kids said they could still smell it..
Probably one of the musks then.
Late late late, but finally here….and my morning scent from 7 hours ago is still here! 🙂
Wearing Vera Wang Look. This is a fresh, fruity floral that has been projecting at arms length all day in a nice way! Very impressed with this new-to-me scent…..
Forgot that one! Vera Wang appears to have mostly given up on the prestige market since then, which is too bad.
It’s raining, it’s pouring, wish I was snoring…
I’m wearing Raffinee today.
I MISS Raffinee!! I owned a bottle many, many, many moons ago so it would probably be long gone by now. That was one of those fragrances that made me feel all grown-up and whatnot, even just sitting on my dresser.
Yes! It’s sophisticated without being pretensious.
I laughed quietly to myself about your rainy-day rhyme. My version always said “The Old Man is snoring!”
That’s my version too, I just changed it because I was at work and wanted to nap! Lol
Fragonard “Désert” today, another ‘clink’. It didn’t really work on me any time I tried it. But, just as I thought I would have to damn it utterly, I reapplied before leaving the house and as I walked down the street I caught a whiff of it being really lovely. Five minutes later I was in the fishing harbour with the smell of fried fish and the Fragonard didn’t survive that. But for that one moment of beauty, I will remember it more fondly than I otherwise might have.
I should say, I feel bad that I have inadvertently spent the week doing the exact opposite of the CP: finishing off perfumes I bought once and hope never to see again. I’ll get with the programme tomorrow. :^D
There’s a CP for you…fragrances that survive the smell of the fishing harbour!
I like it! Will people go for persistent skin scents as a private escape from Fish Hell, or full-on BWF chemical warfare? :^D
SOTD YR Voile d’Ambre, layered with BBW Amber & Argan body butter, it’s very cozy!
This week I visited a Boscov’s department store several hours from my house – it was like going back in time, I loved it. chocolate counter department, complementary gift wrapping, a bustling beauty department – my favorite scents were Giorgio, which I found surprisingly green and Ysatis. I thought Amarige was a little juicy for my taste, but still very nice.
We had a Read’s Department store where I live when I was growing up – hair salon, luncheonette, the works. That store was where I began to acquire my perfume lurve, as I would hang out at the counter while my mom went about buying her Clinique stuff. I drove the sales ladies a little nuts asking to sniff this or that. #memories #nostalgia
Great memories!
I always thought YR Voile d’Ambre and Rose Absolue were surprisingly good, given their prices. You smell yummy.
Thanks!
Easter Friday here, and the first day of a four day weekend. I’ve been so looking forward to this, even though I’ve only been back at work for three weeks after my holiday! I’ll start the day with Serge Lutens Bois de Violette, I’m very glad I have a back-up bottle, as I’m more than halfway through the first.
You smell like spring!
You are smelling amazing!
And when I typed “halfway through the”, I was offered Tuilleries, courtyard and Albaicin – my holiday may be over, but my tablet remembers it!!
Smart tablet!
I think it wants you to go back again 🙂
Started out with Baghari from a very generous NSTer at a freebie meet, layered Eau Premiere over the remnants when I got home and just dabbled on some Rose Otto for good measure. Smells great!
I’m craving a big tropical fruity fragrance right now, preferably a cheap thrill as fruit usually isn’t high on my list of perfume preferences. Something that makes smells like it should be in a glass with a little umbrella at sunset on a palm fringed beach. Any ideas?
Those Escada summer releases! I had a sample of one that smelled like a yummy yummy mango cocktail (Turquoise Summer, maybe?).
I was looking at those, don’t think I’ve ever sampled Escada anything. Thanks for the rec!
Wearing White Shoulders from the oldest of my 3 bottles which is from the 40s, before the company name changed from Hartnell to Evyan
Wow! That must be so good. I had the Evyan version and drained a couple bottles.
Twins with Robin today in Mediterraneo. Am just about to respritz (because I can) and use the hand cream (which is really very nice), and I’m lemming after the candle in this fragrance (heaven!). Happy Friday Eve!
Hey twin! I need to get myself the candle AND the hand cream.
Posting just a little late today. I got involved in trying a new recipe for dinner tonight. I will know if it was a success in about 35 minutes or so. ?
SOTD = FM Superstitious, from the sample stash. Not CP compliant for me yet, but I think I smell great! ?
You do! I have. a travel spray and need to wear it soon!
Thanks hajusuuri! Superstitious worked out great in today’s warm weather.
You absolutely smell great! Was dinner a success?
Thank you lillyjo! Yes, dinner turned out very yummy… it was Salmon baked with Habanero-Chile infused Honey, Garlic and fresh Ginger. And I have tasty leftovers for lunch tomorrow!
Aerin Rose De Grasse was my SOTD. Started out promising then wilted quickly as the day went on.
Well drat.
🙂
I left the house before the thread was up, and now it’s late, but I wore a bit of Musc Ravageur and later a couple of spritzes of Sycomore. Got extremely chilled outside walking around today and can’t get warm.
Hope that you found a way to warm up after all tonight.
Put on a cashmere sweater and crawled under a down comforter. Finally feeling thawed out!
Just got home after the longest week on record. Sprayed on some 80’s Calyx by Prescriptives (and yes, I do have a bub).
The weekend can commence!
Lucky you for the long weekend and the Caylx!
Thanks lillyjo!
The Prescriptives version of Calyx was a wonderful thing. I very much appreciate the bottle I managed to find right before Calyx went over to Clinique.
I can still see myself almost buying another bottle of original Caylx before the switch. Then I hear myself talking me out of it…. sigh…
Ya, i almost talked myself out of it too. I just got my bub recently on my last trip to Fla. I was stunned to see Prescriptives so had to get it while I could.
Still kicking myself about the Hermes Hiris that I didn’t get when I was there.
I’d bet that there are still a few Prescriptives bottles hiding out there. I found mine at an ULTA, of all places.
I tried the Clinique version for fun last year at the store. What an utter disappointment; such a shame.
I’m going through my sample box and am trying Cuir Cordoba. I love this! I don’t recall who sent this to me but thank you! I of course had to look it up, and it’s oos at lucky scent. Is this a discontinued perfume? It’s just wonderful.
So it’s a leather perfume?
I think it’s suede. A little fruit and florals. I was actually thinking of ordering Daim Blonde and was looking for my sample but found this instead. Fragrantica says they are similar. I think CC is much more floral though.
That sounds pretty darn good to me!
It really is so lovely.
It does sound great! I made the mistake of wearing Daim Blonde on a hot, humid day and it was almost too much.
Well, I just found it for sale, but way out of my justification price. I think I will stick with DB, which I know is also lovely, and currently an excellent price.
I wish I had bought a bottle of it years ago, Cuir Cordoba is lovely. I’ve been on the waiting list at Luckyscent for ages but I think it is permanently discontinued. Where did you find it for sale?
I found it at the Keiko Mercheri website. Different bottle design than Luckyscent shows and more expensive.
Late today, but wearing Caleche. I bought a 2mL sample at a rummage sale. Loved it so much I found other samples, and decants, and minis, and finally broke down and bought the 50mL Soie de Parfum but then saw a 100mL vintage EdT, and bought it too! I will have Caleche forever at this point!
Wow, you are stocked!
Trying a sample — Clean Hesperides Grapefruit. (Thank you, rayleighblue!) And I ordered a small bottle of it from Sephora online. I tried Berdoues Peng-Lai the other day (thanks again!) and liked that quite a lot, though I could hear the folks coughing a little from their room. I’ll put their coughing down to spring allergies.
Surrender to Chance had a 22% off sale the other day. I forget what the occasion was, but I got a bunch of samples. I’ll keep you all posted as I get the chance to try various samples. (Though now I can go outside to try them. lol)
